General Hospital Casts Actor For Key Role!

Looks like another hottie is on his way to Port Charles. According to Soap Opera Digest, their sources have informed them that an African-American actor has landed a role on General Hospital.
They also added: “There is considerable buzz about the chemistry he generated during his screen test with a popular leading lady.”
So, who do you think this character is being brought in for? What actor to you hope won the role? What popular leading lady could they been talking about?
Will we see a wave of new additions to the series, under new co-head writers Shelly Altman and Jean Passanante? In their recent interview with SOD, it appeared they would be limiting that, but time will tell what and who is needed to service the new stories they are about to tell! Hello, Fanny! Sorry it took so long to respond! I’m quite well, thank you very much….just busy! (Fall is one of my favorite seasons, along with winter, so I am finally arriving at my time of the year!) Hope you are also feeling fine! As for Val-Chops, yep, looks like we’re stuck with her! They are using the same playbook as they did with the Sapster…..ignore her lack of appeal and unpopular storyline, keep on pushing her to the forefront and then double-down.—Too bad if we don’t like it!—I swear can barely stand to look at this show as it is right now…..I tried to sit through it on Thursday, and it was absolutely excruciating!!!! (Even WITHOUT Sappy!) And judging by the revamped opening, it doesn’t look to be getting better any time soon, at least not in terms of featured characters! (It still roils me to no end how it seems that Easton was dismissed to fund yet more mediocrities…) As you stated on another thread to our mutual friend, CeeCee….welcome to our world….indeed! …….Because there is no black and white. Characters come in ever shape, size and color. The color of a new character’s skin, black, white, red, yellow, brown, or purple should not impede hiring an actor, if he/she fits the bill.

You had asked me if I like Sam and Jake as a couple. I am still on the fence. I certainly do not want him with Lizzie. I don’t know what Sam was like before, but, presently she is the better person. Sam is , at least, honest. That is a complete 180 for me. Nonetheless, Timmm, Sam has done nothing to wow me. She has never really stood out, to pique my interest. I would just like to see a personality….come out of her shell. Now, that is a dumb statement I just made. Well, considering she posed for Playboy decades ago. Know what I mean? A few days ago I watched episodes of DANCING WITH THE STARS. She is an incredible, sexy dancer. She still speaks in a monotone, uninteresting voice. And, I find her acting perfunctory. She speaks perpetually sotto voce…….almost as if she’s bashful. I never realized how petite she is, but, well-put-together. She has the look of both Marisa Tomei and Sandra Bullock. I don’t feel so badly about my own small frame now….LOL.
I did hear that Kelly and Billy are an item now. Gee, they surely didn’t waste any time. Yet, they are both so eye-catching, physically; they make a really good looking couple.
She is probably the complete opposite in real life….with an honest-to-goodness sense of humor and fun. Good for them. I wish their relationship longevity.
Their real-life love can only add spice to Kelly’s acting; driven by real, genuine feelings…show some passion. You know? Go into their love scenes with wild abandon….LOL.

Salem looks like it’s segregated with a lone Asian character and two black actors who are lucky to get five minutes of air time combined in a two week span.
Btw, not to pick on Salem. GH has one Asian. YR has Jack’s never discussed Miss Saigon son. BB has zero.
Time to get over this weird fear of a community of people that includes folks of color instead of marginalizing them with nominally having one and declaring Mission Accomplished.

The other missing Abbott is Tracy. I suppose some folks like segregated world of blue eyed blondes in a size two dress at the expense of a collage of what this world looks like. Marcy on OLTL was brought on to pour tea for a skinny white girl. But she was a terrific actress and her character became a featured character and bland non dimensional skinny chick was gone.

Btw, no one ever paid the rent by sitting on a panel. I recently attended a conference for work and I can’t fly you the number of all white panel discussions I sat through. It was Trumpian in female representation. John L would have loved it!!! He’d be brimming with compassion.

I also believe, the shooter could be Carlos, as I intimated earlier. I am not familiar with the Wu’s, but you know better than I. As MadMaddie, the shooter is probably a character that is on his/her way out.
As far as Silas? Are we sure Michael was let go? Is it possible that because of his multiple projects, he decided to leave?
I find it so droll and annoying for Sonny to, again, have the brightest of spotlights shine on him. Whoever said this continues to be the Sonny and Carly show; is right! And, I am so done with Carly’s tears over this degenerate……the flashbacks down memory lane. Snap out of it, Carly! Pease!

My parents were in the vicinity…lower Manhattan (they have offices on Wall St.) ….so much confusion and fear…all trying to get in touch with our loved ones. So many friends lost! You know, this thing with Anna and Carlos is really bothering me. It is so far fetched to me that her word would not have held weight, albeit I do see that the mayor had/has it within her power to destroy Anna’s credibility and her person. Has GH and its state legislature always been this disreputable? NY state has one of the toughest laws in the country….needs to have them!!!!! So, this has always been my contention how the writers bend and mollify rules where the baddies get away with the worst crime there is…MURDER.
I apologize to Maurice…let’s keep it real….I am TALKING ABOUT THE CHARACTER. From what I understand he is one of the best family men , father and husband , there is. But, Sonny has killed innumerable people, baddies or innocent people…murder, just the same. He is still breathing as a free man because an idiotic governor gave him the green light……(not in this state!!!!!) while Anna has to now dance to Sloane’s music? Bah!!!!!LOL.
Speaking of music, I love the 80’s as well, ….all genres. As yourself, my husband loves DuranDuran, 9 INCH NAILS(yuck) and other such music, Zeppelin being his fave. But, I do love Black Sabbath, Iron Butterfly, Joplin and Motown, just to name a few. You must have had great fun, with a crooner in tow? LOL
My husband is a clown when he gets in that mood. He still croons ballads and sings rock to me. He’ll stand on the kitchen table, stooping because he’s so tall. I wonder if he heals his patients by singing to them?
Sorry, I digressed. Why do you think Sonny was shot now? I say NOW, because of the importance of Morgan’s state of mind. The writers introduced this very sensitive and devastating subject ( malady) and then put the focus on the omnipotent , mighty mob-boss? Will they ever see Morgan’s developing disorder through its different stages? I find that so much more important and riveting than Sonny’s shooting. Nothing new here.
I am thinking that perhaps, it is to show the extend of Morgan’s illness when under pressure? The stress of his father possibly dying will propel Morgan to do something irreparable? I mean, he did look ominous! I was actually impressed by the emotions and passion on his face….he really looked like he was ready to kill someone. Good job. Good acting. I have not even liked the weasely ( is that a word?lol) character since his underhanded marriage to Kiki.
It will probably be a year before the shooter is discovered ( I hope not), which means everything will be at a standstill. To be honest, Shay, I don’t care for this recycled storyline. I just want Jake to finally emerge as Jason Q; get rid of Lizzie, albeit I love the actress, and take it from there. With Sam? I hope that if such were to happen, he and Sam will spend some time together, with their son, and get re-acquainted, before jumping on a bed where it has been the home of so many others…..LOL.

For one thing, Sonny is not Italian. Not even close. The features, the coloring, the SPEECH and ACCENT…all wrong to be Italian. Italians are Caucasian, su, not Hispanic. As are Spaniards ( Castilian) from Spain, Caucasian and not Hispanic, albeit some people are confused about that. Secondly, going to church for an Italian man, is more of a tradition than a religion. It’s a family thing they do together. Italian mobsters also have a million and one women on the side. LOL.i know a few Italian men who are agnostic, yet they go to church every Sunday…protocol…LOL.

Italian men don’t have to be in the mob to love their mothers. The culture dictates love and respect for their mothers. My husband is 33 and he still shows deference to his mother in all things. If he didn’t, she would probably pull his ear, which is something else Italian mothers do to their sons, LOL. That’s just the way it is…..nothing to do with any affiliation to the mob. I would hope all men love and respect their mothers.

Probably a TJ recast. If not, it is a sin to bring someone new in when Sean Blakemore filled that role and was a good actor. Lets just hope the casting director is involved and not Jean and Shelly. OK. As we have no age limit… yet, could this possibly be a replacement for TJ as an interest for Molly? It’s a possibility. But I would like to see Sean Butler back and running Kelly’s instead of trying to be a “hitman” for Sonny. He couldn’t hit the broad side of a barn even if it was right in front of him! Neither could Carlos for that fact. But… for me, there’s only going to be DUKE for ANNA. Sloane’s a “sluff” who’s only interested in looking out for himself and screwing everyone else over.

Why does the actor being hired have to be announced as an “African American”. I don’t understand why such a description is needed. Just ‘actor hired’ tested well, etc is sufficient as is. They could drop other hints beside his race if they want speculation on what kind of role, who he may be paired with,etc. Same with when a Hispanic actor/actress is announced as a possible cast member.

After all, she will be spending a lot of time in the hospital since Sonny was shot for the 100th time.
At this point I don’t care who they cast as long as he isn’t given the role of yet another mobster/bad guy/criminal/bully. The show could do with a character who is actually a good guy who is not associated with the mob or the lunatic fringe. The PCPD is riddled with officers whose loyalties lead to chewing up the scenes: Jordan, Dante, and Nathan each has questionable associations. Jeez, I am bored silly with all the angst.
Jordan chose the law over her son long, long ago. Her anguish is understandable but does not make for exciting drama.
Dante, didn’t anyone ever tell you that while confession is good for the soul it is a burdensome hell on the soulmate. Don’t burden your wife or your criminal father with confessions. Buck up and learn to live with your sins.

Can Lulu (Alexa Havins) and Dante (Dominic Zamprogna) get to Rocco (Finn Carr) and Britt (Kelly Thiebaud) in time to ensure their safety from Cullum (Andrew Hawkes)? Can Carly (Laura Wright) with the help of her brother, Lucas (Van Hansis) rescue Josslyn (Eden McCoy) from captivity at Wyndemere? These questions may be answered, plus the return of the one and only Anna Devane (Finola Hughes) are on tap!
In the just released General Hospital spoilers video for the week of June 22-26, Lulu tells her mother, Laura (Genie Francis), “Dante and I have to get to Rocco before Cullum!” Meanwhile, Rocco (Finn Carr) looks angered and emotional as Britt walks through their cabin hideout. Does Rocco know his parents are on the way to find them, or has Cullum already tracked them down to the British Virgin Islands?
Back in Port Charles, Carly is informing Lucas that his niece, “is a WSB agent.” She knows Josslyn (Eden McCoy) is being held against her will at Wyndemere, and she has to find a way to get her out. Lucas agrees with Carly’s plan of, “We go in and we don’t leave without Josslyn!” Elsewhere, Josslyn is looking worried for her future as she is stuck in captivity thanks to Cassius, Cullum and Sidwell!

FINOLA HUGHES RETURNS
The final moments of the teaser promo reveal Anna in a psychiatric clinic in France. We have not seen her for months after Cullum, Sidwell and Pascal fed her hallucinogenics to make her believe her arch nemesis, Cesar Faison was alive!
Now, the doctors walk towards her hospital bed, where we see the super spy calmly knitting. Is Anna back to normal and playing everyone to get out of her predicament, or does she still remain deeply traumatized … or both?

Maurice Benard Gives High Praise to ‘General Hospital’ Writers; Teases Upcoming Sonny Scenes with Anna, Jason, Justine and Ric
With the highly-anticipated returns of Finola Hughes (Anna Devane) on this week’s June 24 episode of General Hospital, Steve Burton’s (Jason Morgan) upcoming return on July 13, which also serves as the ABC daytime drama’s 16,000 episode, things are about to fire on all cylinders in the story, as noted today by series star, Maurice Benard (Sonny Corinthos).
On Father’s Day, the three-time Daytime Emmy-winning actor and mental health activist took to his Instagram and expressed in a video that he has some unbelievable upcoming senes with the aforementioned Burton and Hughes. Add to that Nazneen Contractor (Justine Turner) and Rick Hearst (Ric Lansing), where Benard gave credit where credit is due to the GH writing team, which is led by co-head writers, Elizabeth Korte and Chris Van Etten..
In this video, Benard said, “I just want to get on here and say that I did some work with Steve Burton, Finola Hughes, Rick Hearst, Nazneen Contractor, and they’re all just fantastic. Truly fantastic. But, I want to say the writing was just exceptional. It truly was. It was exceptional. So, thankful for that kind of writing. I know writers don’t get the credit a lot, but I just want to say to the General Hospital writing team, keep rolling!”

So now the question becomes, with a major tease like that, what is about to go down between Sonny, Anna, Jason, Justine and Ric? Will we finally get to the end of the line for Sidwell (Carlo Rota), as previously teased by the GH co-head writers? Will we learn what happened to Jason and Anna, fully? Will Justine and Sonny becomes closer or stop their liaisons? And what of Ric? Will he be true blue to his brother or double-cross him? There is a lot at stake as we move further into the summer and one that looks like it could be one of the more exciting ones in years!
FINOLA HUGHES CONFIRMED AMAZING SCENES WITH MAURICE BENARD
As a punctuation point to his video, Benard also shared this written message in the post: “I just did some wonderful scenes with Steve Burton, Rick Hearst, Finola Hughes and Nazneen Contractor and and unbelievable writing, freaking amazing scenes that you will see in the near future on General Hospital.” In fact, Finola Hughes jumped in the post comment thread and responded, “I loved our scenes so much xxx”
Fans will most likely see all the scenes Benard referred to later in July, since GH tapes approximately six weeks ahead of air.

‘General Hospital’ Alum Chad Duell Announces Upcoming Release of His First Single, ‘If You Need Me’
In a surprise move, Daytime Emmy winner, Chad Duell (ex-Michael Corinthos, GH) is getting ready to unveil a new chapter of his career in music.
The former GH star, where he played the son of Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard) and Carly Spencer (Laura Wright) for 15 years, has announced his new single, “If You Need Me” will drop on Friday, June 26. The single is now available for pre-order on Spotify and major music streaming platforms and is distributed by DistroKid.
Taking to his Instagram story over the weekend, to announce the pre-save of his new single, Chad expressed, “I’ll make a full post about what I’ve been up to and my music once it goes live next week, but you can pre-save my first single so it goes straight to your Spotify once it drops next week.”

SINCE LEAVING GENERAL HOSPITAL
Previously, since his departure from the ABC soap opera. Chad starred alongside Zach Mendez in the world premiere of of Yum Yum at Annapolis, a new play written by Bruce Reisman. Duell last appeared on General Hospital on the January 21, 2025 episode.
The part was recast with Rory Gibson who debuted as the new Michael in May of 2025 during the Nurses’ Ball episodes and who has remained in the role since that time.
In an interview earlier this year on The Able Show, Duell said on his decision to exit the soap opera, “I was blessed to be part of that (show) for as long as I have, but what happens sometimes is if you’re doing the same thing, especially in a creative field for such a long time, you can get a little burnt out in a way. It can make you a little depressed, so that’s kind of what happened. On top of that, I had other things going on in my life at the time. My father passed away recently and I just needed a reset. So, I stepped away. A lot of times you have to go through some stuff to really step into that next level. I needed to kind of feel uncomfortable.”
