‘General Hospital’s’ Chris McKenna On Jack’s Reaction to Carly Cheating On Him with Valentin: ‘Heartbreak and Absolute Rage and Humiliation’

The stage is set for next week on General Hospital, after yesterday’s May 1 cliffhanger, when Brennan (Chris McKenna) sneaks into Carly’s (Laura Wright) house and heads up to her bedroom, bursts in the door and finds her between the sheets, albeit at that moment alone.

However, Jack is already armed with plenty of ammo, he saw two glasses of wine in Carly’s kitchen, Josslyn (Eden McCoy) already lit the fire, by telling him her mother was seeing someone else, the WSB bureau chief then went to visit Carly’s ex, Sonny (Maurice Benard). The mobster’s reaction pretty much sold Jack that Carly must be sleeping with another man.

As Jack goes to check out the situation to confirm his suspicions, Carly and Valentin (James Patrick Stuart) have just hit the sheets, after fighting their attraction once again for each other. Now comes the moment of truth that Carly has been sleeping with Brennan’s sworn enemy, Valentin.

In a preview of what’s to come, Soap Opera Digest spoke to both Chris McKenna and Laura Wright where they talked about the upcoming scenes.  McKenna expressed, “This has been coming for such a long time.” He also previews, “Brennan comes at her pretty aggressively.”

THREE’S COMPANY

Wright added, “Carly didn’t expect Brennan to walk into her bedroom! He doesn’t have a key. It’s late at night. She thinks she and Valentin are in the clear. She sees that he’s so angry and so worried about being cheated on… but not that he’s sorry for lying to her face or because her daughter is in danger because of him!”

As to how Jack will handle the situation from here and finding out that Carly is with Valentin, McKenna confirms, to expect, “heartbreak and absolute rage and humiliation” from Jack. He’s thinking, ‘This can’t be real. This can’t have happened. I can’t be this stupid. I can’t have been this blind.’ And as to Jack’s current state of mind, coming into the situation, “Jack is drunk and a little unhinged and the audience finally gets a glimpse of what’s going on underneath that rigid exterior.”

Needless to say, the fallout will be huge, and McKenna is proud of the trios work in the scenes, sharing that Laura Wright was a fantastic as ever, and that GH’s executive producer, Frank Valentini was on the set the entire time with Laura, James and him, making this story point play out to its full effect.

So, are you excited to see how what goes down between Brennan, Carly and Valentin and the fallout? Do you think this will cement Carly and Valentin as a couple, or will Carly regret what she’s done to Jack? Weigh-in on how you hope this all plays out via the comment section below.

Not sure why Joss felt compelled to send a raging Jack in the direction of her mother and Valentin but I will say her recent actions demonstrate she lacks the maturity and strategizing skills needed to be an effective WSB agent. That said, I’m glad Joss’s foolish actions led to someone finally ending this seemingly Carly’s Boy-Toy-in-the-attic storyline which cast neither character in the most flattering light. Moreover, McKenna is a solid actor who will bring his A game to the table, and we will get to see him in all of his raging, unbridled glory.

After “seemingly”, I meant to write “endless.” I wish I could use the edit function but every time I try, I receive the message telling me that it is too late at this point in time. Story of my life, I tell ya. To redirect back to topic, looking forward to McKenna showing viewers his emotional range.

I too was wondering why Joss felt compelled to put her mother in more danger by telling Brennan.

My favorite part of this story was that actors analyzed the episode and their characters.

Ha ha ha!! I see what you did there.

I do agree with you about Donnell Turner so Chris McKenna could give him some lessons on how to act naturally.

Right? And to be fair to Turner, it’s not his fault that the writers are having him hunt down the driver who was not at fault and most likely didn’t know the driver, who was actually at fault, was later crashed her car after over correcting. So you have the poor actor aimlessly skulking around while employing his one note acting skill of righteous indignation making an absolute fool of himself. It’s a perfect storm of bad writing merging with bad acting.

I don’t understand why Jocelyn felt the need to put her mother in such extreme danger. Her character has become quite wishy-washy and a little bit irritating.

I’m just ready for this part of the storyline to be over. While I appreciate the actors and their work, I’m just not feeling any chemistry with either of the guys with Carly. It was a breath of fresh air when Valentin had scenes with Nina because he was finally out of Carly’s house and I’m not even a Nina fan. Maybe this fallout will ignite a spark for Jack and I’ll see something between him and Carly. All I know is that this is the first time in a very long time where there’s more about the show that I’m not enjoying than what I am. I want to like this show again.

I’ve dreaded this moment since Carly hooked up with Valentin. My heart breaks for Jack. Jack stated very clearly that, because of his career, he has never had a truly intimate connection with anyone. He hasn’t been able to trust and let anyone in. He broke that rule with Carly and fell in love with her. Jack told Carly that he’s let her into his life like no one else. Learning that Carly is cheating on him is devastating. And when he learns that the other man is Valentin, I can only imagine the rage that will be unleashed. Chris McKenna is a very strong actor. I’m sure the fireworks will be monumental.

I really feel badly for Jack – he is my favorite character! I think Carly was playing him & I dreaded this moment. Chris did an excellent job portraying these emotions. You could feel it through the screen! He deserves an Emmy for this performance!

I’m on Jack’s side here too, and I don’t think we’re supposed to be. I credit CM’s acting prowess for this as well as the overall awfulness of Carly and Joss. I’m not too happy with Valentin these days either

I didn’t even know I was on Jack’s side until he interrupted the love making between Carly and the attic squatter. Someone needed to put an end to that god-awful, icky coupling.

Nicely put. I agree.

Well to be 666% fair about it, Jack really earned Carly’s wrath by manipulating Joss into killing Cyrus the Virus (who did deserve it, of course) and then using that killing as blackmail material to coerce a somewhat naive young girl into joining the WSB. And then being thrown almost immediately into an international plot involving the remains of the Cesar Faison cabal.

All the while he’s keeping Carly herself in bed, and in the dark about all of this. She only knows about it because Jason just happened to see Britt in the Paris airport and tracked her down in Croatia on his own dime, and finds “Agent Barbie Jacks” working the case. Had Jason not gone halfway across the planet to rescue a girlfriend whom he had believed to be occupying an air conditioned condo down here in Hell, Carly might still be in the dark about her daughter being a spy. Because Brennan wouldn’t have told her.

I agree with you 100% you said all the words I wanted to say

Feel bad for Jack? He recruited her daughter into a very dangerous professiin, behind her back I might add. He gets what he deserves.

he actually set her up to kill someone so that he would have her over a barrel. He held that over her head to get into the WSB, which I never liked the fact that that’s the way the storyline went. She was such a beautiful young girl now she’s a loner spy.

You’re not wrong. But Carly is so awful you just wanna root for her nemesis.

I agree with you there he did let her in, but he also betrayed her by pulling her daughter into the WSB and lying. Putting her daughter in danger was a totally bad move on his part. And I like the original Jack. He was so handsome. This guy never seemed like Carly‘s type. Well it’s just a show. I have to remember that lol things change on a daily basis.

I like both guys but Jack is so cute

Thank you for that in-depth character analysis.

Bless your heart.

Part of me wishes that Valentin and Brennan would get together and leave Carly in the dust. I haven’t figured out why every guy falls for Carly, but I’m playing along.

Carly is a force to be reckoned with and loves bad boys. She’s a magnet. Not to mention she’s gorgeous. I feel bad for Jack, then again, I hate that he’s been lying to her.

I for one like Brennan and Carly together. Let Valentin go find Anna and bring her home. Hope Carly feels like shit for playing with Brennan like that when the man truly loves her. As for Joslyn she is a grown ass adult and doesn’t need mommy’s approval for whatever career she decides.

Cannot wait to see the explosive moments with Carly and Jack going to be epic I feel sorry for jack althou he reguited josslynn he love Carly she hurt Jack Brennan for cheating on him with Valentin and plotting I don’t like Valentin with Carly no chemistry

I personally like Carly with Valentin but what happens when Anna comes back?

Vincent Pastore of ‘Sopranos’ Fame and ‘General Hospital’s’ Maximus Giambetti Dies at 80

Vincent Pastore, best known for his memorable role as Salvatore “Big Pussy” Bonpensiero on HBO’s The Sopranos has passed away.

The veteran actor was found dead on August 1st in his home in the Bronx, New York. Pastore was 80-years-old. The cause of death is yet to be determined.

As well as his role on The Sopranos, many soap fans will recall he played multiple smaller roles on the beloved One Life to Live from 1995 and 2004. However, in 2008, he landed the short-term role as Maximus Giambetti on General Hospital.

PASTORE WANTED TO BE ON GENERAL HOSPITAL

Maximus was the mobster father of Sonny Corinthos’ (Maurice Benard) bodyguards: Max (Derk Cheetwood) and Milo (Drew Cheetwood)

According to Soap Opera Digest, Pastore told Soaps In Depth back in 2009, after appearing in a SOAPnet promotional campaign as a celebrity fan of General Hospital: “‘I’d love to be on the show. So they called up GH’s casting director (Mark Teschner) and Bobby (Robert Guza Jr. ex-head writer, GH) and they wrote me in!”

Pastore was a huge General Hospital fan from way back, who at one point told producers that he would watch the ABC soap opera while working in bars and nightclubs in the 70s and 80s.

Throughout his decades long career, Pastore appeared in films including: Goodfellas, Carlito’s Way and Men of Respect, The Jerky Boys: The Movie and the 1996 HBO TV movie Gotti.

In TV, besides The Sopranos, Pastore’s credits included: Law & Order, The Practice, Son of the Beach, Queens Supreme, Hawaii Five-0, Wu-Tang: An American Saga, plus the miniseries The Last Don II. Most recently, Vincent was a series regular on Gravesend and guest starred on Yellowjackets.

Pastore is survived by his daughter, Renee, son-in-law and granddaughter.

GENERAL HOSPITAL: If Jason Leaves the Mob, What Will He Do Next?

Steve Burton

As had been teased since Jason Morgan’s (Steve Burton) captivity by the WSB and his release on General Hospital, he is clearly having issues speaking about what happened to him, after he was dragged away from Port Charles when he took the fall for Rocco (Finn Carr) who shot WSB director Ross Cullum (Andrew Hawkes).

Now. as Jason tries to reacclimate to life back in Port Charles, he has already displayed that he wants to do better for his son, Danny (Asher Antonyzyn) and the people he loves and to show up for them.

In addition, things took a turn on the Friday, July 31 episode where after Sonny (Maurice Benard) questioned Jason if he was having an issue with Ric (Rick Hearst) working side by side with his half-brother, Jason had something to say.

Courtesy/ABC

An emotional Jason tells Sonny, “I can’t work for you anymore.” The moment left Sonny dumbfounded, and viewers won’t know the pick-up of the conversation till Monday’s August 3 episode of GH.

Could it be that this time Jason will cut ties with Sonny and the mob for good? If so, it would be the end of an era for Jason and Sonny, sort of the Batman and Robin of GH with a twist.

Previous teases from the GH co-head writing team of Chris Van Etten and Elizabeth Korte, and Burton himself on his podcast That’s Awesome ,seem to indicate there is a change coming for Jason that sends him off in a different path in his life.

However, we should learn Jason’s reasons shortly, and if Sonny can talk him back into the mob, or can just wish Jason the best and let him go. But now the question becomes, if Jason exits life as Sonny’s right hand man and henchman, what do you see him doing with his life? We do know that Jason is aware that Dr. Tristan Roberts (Dean Geyer) has tied to the WSB, since he escorted him to Port Charles via Jakarta on the plane which may be a clue.

Weigh-in below: Do you want Jason to go work for the Quartermaines and truly join the family in full? Do you see him doing something to help those in need, or do you see him going undercover with the WSB to expose some of the treacherous things they perpetrated on him and others, or do you see Jason doing something completely different with his life? If so, what? Let us know your hopes and thoughts for Jason in the comment section below.

GENERAL HOSPITAL: Ethan Lovett Hightails Out of the Country, Christian Howard Wraps His Stint

Published

By

Christian Howard

That was quick! Christian Howard, who now looks to have literally stepped in for Nathan Dean to wrap up a few episodes for the character of Ethan Lovett made a quick exit on Friday’s July 31 episode of General Hospital.

GH viewers were stunned earlier this week on the Monday, July 27 episode when a voiceover announcer shared that Christian Howard was now playing Ethan Lovett. Next, Ethan hits the sheets with Ava Jerome, played by three-time Daytime Emmy-winner, Maura West. All seemed to be moving forward when suddenly at the end of the Thursday, July 30 episode, Ethan spots newcomer Hudson (Troy Lennon Appel) at the Metro Court Pool, and makes a quick getaway.

Then, it’s revealed after packing his bags at Lulu’s (Alexa Havins) house, that out of nowhere, Ethan received a lead on an incredible opportunity so he has to say goodbye to Lulu and run out of town and was leaving Port Charles.

Courtesy/ABC

RUNNING OUT OF TOWN

In fact, Ethan was in such a hurry, he forgot to say goodbye to Ava who had been waiting for him at the Metro Court pool. There is clearly a connection to Hudson and baby Phoebe after Ethan spotted the guy, because Ethan also glanced over to the baby and Brook Lynn (Amanda Setton) at the Metro Court pool, before he ran to Lulu’s to pack his things. All of this points to Howard being an emergency recast for Dean.

It’s definitely been a week of change on-screen on the ABC soap with the news of Maxie, Spinelli, James, Georgie and Bailey all suddenly leaving Port Charles for Australia, after Spinelli got an offer he could not turn down.

That exit was written because Kirsten Storms is at this time,, and the very foreseeable future, not returning to General Hospital and is living in Tennessee. As she had documented via her Instagram stories and posts, she has been going through several personal ordeals. In addition to Storms, Ryan Paevey also exited the series earlier this month when he ended his run as Cassius Faison, while leaving the door open for his return down the line.

So, will newcomers Kelly Kruger (Serena Baldwin), Dean Geyer (Tristan Roberts) and Troy Lennon Appel fill the void of the multitude of exits? What are your theories on Christian Howard’s departure as Ethan Lovett on GH? Let us know via the comment section below.
