GENERAL HOSPITAL: Did Rafe Wake Up? The Shocking Friday Cliffhanger!

Courtesy/ABC

Courtesy/ABC

Viewers of ABC’s General Hospital witnessed quite the cliffhanger on this past Friday’s episode!

While Nina (Michelle Stafford) was at brain-dead Rafe’s (Jimmy Deshler) hospital bedside talking about how his predicament is helping drive a wedge between her husband and his “trailer trash” girlfriend, and that Rafe is helping her with her plans for revenge, and that he will have a wonderful funeral, Nina is in for quite the shocker!

As the diabolical woman gloats in his misfortune, and is thanking her lucky stars that he won’t ever recover to spill the beans on her (he knows she can walk, etc.), Rafe suddenly grabs her hand and then opens his eyes! What gives?

Will Rafe fully come to for a few minutes, and it will be Nina that will ultimately end his life, and she will hide the fact and keep the blame squarely on the shoulders of Dr.  Patrick Drake  (Jason Thompson) for a failed brain surgery?  Could Rafe be becoming a vampire?  Will Rafe wake up but have amnesia, and thus ruin Alice’s (Bergen Williams) chances to get his heart, which then allows Nina to continue her reign of terror?  Or, did Rafe in reality not wake up, and this moment was all in Nina’s mind?

Let us know what you think will happen next? And kudos to Michelle Stafford for her performance in some intense scenes where Nina’s true colors were wildly on display!

I could not love this show anymore than I already do but Friday blew my min. Go GH.

RC and his shockers are awesome !!
He will always give us a thrill and a shocker !! love it !!

AGREE! And the shockers keep coming about Rafe, too! Go, GH! Do not slow down the pace. Keep the stories rolling along.

It’s all in her mind. I am hating that character more and more. Where are the good characters on GH? Where are the Tony Jones of the 80’s?

In our memories and on youtube…lol

Is it true that A.G.(Luke) might not return to General Hospital come fall…

How will they do the Fluke storyline if A.G. doesnt return to the show???

Loved Tony Jones! BUT, I am also loving Nina.

My God, that was 30 years ago! Let it go and enjoy the GH of today!

30 years ago? Tony Jones died 8 years ago. There is a reason GH viewers love characters from the past. They were likeable, loveable, and were not all misogynistic murderers and psychopaths. Give me a scene with any beloved character who has been senselessly murdered over the last decade or so…and they can keep their Ava and Nina and Obrecht and Sonny and Shawn and Julian and all the other murderers who now populate the show.

I can’t stand this character! Glad to hear I’m not alone.

I still am angry with Bob Guza for killing of Tony Jones and Alan Quartermaine. But Tony had one of the best, most tear inducing death scenes I ever saw. Oh, when he saw BJ right before he took his last breath…well, suffice to say, I need a box of Kleenex just talking about it. Brad Maule is an amazing actor and I understand he is teaching drama in some college–lucky students.
But I don’t want to label these characters products of the 80’s. We loved characters like Tony because they were basically good, albeit flawed, people trying to do the right thing in life–there were nuances of realism running through them which made us relate on some level. I do miss the heart to hearts between such characters as Tony and Frisco, Felicia and Lucy, Bobbie and Luke and so forth. Scenes were longer in those days and were believable, never boring because they were so well written and so well acted. Are we being presented with characters like this now? I don’t think so. But I have decided that there are two types of soap opera viewers now–those who want a little realism served up with their escapism at a slower pace and those who enjoy high camp served up with a fast food approach. It’s not about dwelling on the past or about who is right or who is wrong–it is simply a matter of taste. Now has is that for stating the obvious?

@Harry….You wrapped up your post most eloquently, and really struck at the heart of the matter! I also think some of us have such a problem with the way GH is currently configured due to the difference in attention spans. Those of us who are used to getting engrossed in a program and slowly savoring all of its elements are not enjoying the immensely abridged (and what some of us may regard as “dumbed down”) version that we are being presented today….it lacks the nuances and details that we have grown accustomed to expecting from the superb productions of yesteryear. (And what we can thankfully still find at PBS these days….) For those weaned on texting and tweeting, their patience for absorbing minutiae is akin to that of a gnat….they just want it quick and dirty….like the difference between actually reading Shakespeare or just getting the “gist” of it ala CliffsNotes…or Wiki!!!!

Michelle is blowing me away. The writing is incredible. The makeup! The people behind the scenes don’t get enough credit. Whoever does the makeup on this show is phenomenal. But also the casting. There is an embarrassment of great actors (especially actresses) on this show. I am astonished GH got so overlooked by the Emmys this year. Maura. Jane. Finola. Vinessa. The list is endless.

Vinessa who??

I guess it is some comfort to you that they did win the Emmy for outstanding achievement in make up this year.

People were mad with all the new blood but I posted that GHers will fall in love with Michelle Stafford. She is great. Y&R is losing a lot of talented people and GH can continue to benefit.

I often agree with your posts, Timmm, but not on this one….I am so NOT loving MS…exactly the opposite, in fact! I think part of it is just not taking to the character of Nina, since she is not what the year-long buildup of her (as an effusive, warm, delicate flower of a woman….) led us to expect, and also, the quirky acting affectations that “La Stafford” relies upon are such turn-offs that it detracts from the overall impression she imparts. It is really difficult to get into her story when there are so many of her annoying personal distractions going on simultaneously. Of course, it could also be the harsh realization that she’s yet another raving female nutjob preying upon Port Charles and we really didn’t need another one of those given that GH already has two of the best in the business…Heather Webber and Dr. O.!

Daytime is littered with an almost endless list of Grade A talent who made a splash on one show but could not duplicate the magic at another show…mostly due to bad writing! Marcy Walker, Robert S. Woods, Jensen Buchanan, A Martinez, Ian Buchanan, Sarah Brown, Lindsay Hartley, Beth Ehlers, Sydney Penny, Paul Leyden, Jennifer Landon, Genie Francis, etc etc etc. Add Michelle Stafford to that list. The writing is awful for this character…and the actress herself even appears very confused as to what the hell she is supposed to be playing. One second she is nearly in tears because she loves fireworks so much, and the next she is plotting the demise of a teenager. Even MS cannot rise above the dreadful, inconsistent, almost incoherent writing that accompanies her character.

The ONLY Emmy GH received was actually for casting. I agree with you about the crew not receiving enough notice. Their costuming is incredible & right on target. Anna, Jordan & Ava all wear fantastic stuff right in keeping with their characters & their profession. As for casting, even the Immigration guy who visited Maxie was perfect. He intimidated me thru the screen!

Costuming is incredible???? While it’s true Anna always looks impeccable and professional in her wardrobe, Ava seldom wears properly fitting clothing for her tall frame and Jordan usually appears more akin to a hooker in most of her get-ups. I have previously critiqued the fashions on the show, so I’m not merely debating your assertions to be argumentative, Kansas Guest, but every time I watch the show I see many examples in the style department that could be vastly improved. I realize that much of it is probably down to budget constraints, but still, I think one of the major components in which GH lags is in their fashions….and don’t even get me started (again) about the overexposure of too many of the female cast members’ bustlines…..it’s become a running joke….especially regarding Alexis and her never-ending peep show!!!!!

I double check three different websites and all of them have GH tied with B&B for best make up– so unless you don’t count a tied as a win, they did win for best make up, as well casting.

Vinessa who?

The lady who plays TJ’s mother is named Vinessa, maybe that is who she is referring to.

Yes, Rafe has come back from the dead…his vampire father(like Mary SF said )brought him back…now i believe Vampire Stephan Clay and Zombie Rafe will raise an army of dead Quartimaines who will destroy all the newbies who have replaced them over the years…lol

Ron C. Are you reading jimh’s comments… let’s go for daytime’s first zombie storyline. What better way to bring back all of everyone’s favorite characters… be it dead or alive.

Let it be a week long fantasy extravagance !

Jimh- I knew I liked you! 😉

I personally think Rafe is a figment of Nina’s guilty conscience, but I wouldn’t mind the zombie storyline either. “The Soaping Dead’, anyone?

If Rafe had any common sense, his A$$ would stay dead. Nina and Patrick will make his life miserable if he lives. lol

heh not if he is a vampire !!

This is one of those times where I can’t defend the GH writing, if this story goes the way it appears to be going. I liked Rafe, thought there was so much more they could have done with the character. Good looking kid, showed that he can be a good actor when they actually gave him a storyline, seems like such a shame to waste a character that had ties to a number of people in Port Charles.

All to do the latest attempt at recreating the BJ’s heart storyline with two characters that haven’t been used on the show in months. In the case of Alice, a character that I also like, but I honestly can’t even remember the last time she was on the show. The last time I remember seeing her is when Edward died. All of a sudden she needs a heart transplant and we’re supposed to be emotionally invested?

Sorry, I can’t get with this story. Granted, the entire thing hasn’t played out yet. But so far it’s been a big whiff from Frank, Ron and company.

They shouldve showed Alice more…especially during A.J.s death and at his funeral…Alice and A.J. were close…the transplant storyline wouldve gotten us emotionally invested had A.J.s heart had gone to Alice being they were close…imo!!!

I agree, jimh! Now that’s something I could have gotten into. Since they had to write AJ out anyway, at least they could have used his death for something meaningful. Alice isn’t seen for months, we see her as a camp counselor one day, and then all of sudden she needs a heart transplant. It’s like they skipped a couple parts of the story. I’m usually a defender of RC’s writing, but I’m not a fan of this storyline whatsoever.

Giving Alice AJ’s heart would have ALMOST guaranteed that he couldnt come back from the dead AGAIN.

@Timmm…LOL..good point! (Cause errrr…I’m still holding out hope he WILL come back!)

Nina (Michelle Stafford) is doing a great job! Her acting is making me feel it/her!
Rafe (Jimmy Deshler) is doing a bang-up job playing dead …lol
I had a ”whooooa” moment when he opened his eyes! (thanks RC)

I like to mix it up..
If Rafe could use the power of his fathers inherited vampire blood to never die, I’m for it!
And Nina would have a whole lot to worry about , she would need to be a vampire slayer to survive Rafe; cool!!

But sadly- I do not believe RC will go that way..
So- I have to wait for Monday to know what’s up with Rafe..

Nina is momentarily feeling guilty and imagine it…Rafe is DEAD!!! Unless they trick us and he is alive and its Molly who dies and her heart goes to Alice…sorry Molly fans…Molly wont die but love shocking twist and turns…lol

Never again threaten us with vampires, GH, and just have this character written off permanently. Don’t care how they do it, just do it soon.

baaaahhhh you’re no fun … 🙂

Sane people usually aren’t.

O please let Rafe become a vampire– this show needs more camp. LOL

yah … I want a vampire.. they are fun!!

You ever see that vampire movie staring David Soul called ‘Salem’s Lot’?…in one scene a teen dies and returns as a vampire…he shows up outside the window of his friend one foggy night…floating in the air, pale faced…lighly knocking on the window pain…eerie…maybe GH could replicate that scene outside Mollys hospital room window…will Lucy the vampire slayer stop him?…maybe vampire Rafe could bring Lucys duck back from the dead and make it a vampire too…quacks me up just to think about it…lol

“Don’t Give Up on us Baby”

I thought you were going to tell us ? Baloney. We know Rafe is dead why so jazzy hands can win. I liked Rafe.,and I can’t stand watching Phyllis/Nina browbeating a kid. Guess I will just go back to Not watching.

I’m with you on “Phyll-ina’s” perpetual action hands…..they are so distracting that she needs to repeat everything for emphasis. I wish Nathan (aka, “J.”) would come over to “Si’s” apartment with those nifty handcuffs of his and clamp her arms to the chair for awhile, just to give Stafford (not to mention the viewers) a break. This entire Nina storyline has been an epic fail ….from the gross miscasting of MS to that atrociously arrogant, annoying and abrasive sidekick of a nurse they created to do Ms. Clay’s bidding….would someone please shut her up, like now???? Every time that obnoxious big-mouthed broad appears, I just want to smack the smirk from her smug mug.

Could it be Shay that Nina has beat out Sabrina for your most detestable GH character??? I agree; not taking to her at all…and I’ll hold her nurse’s head while you smack the smirk off.

Epic fail just about sums it up. The character of Nina and the entire story line is a complete wash out!! To have one of her first major stories being that she orders her flunky to belt her in the face in order to pin it on a teenager? Then to see her almost glowing and salivating as the kid is dying? I can’t imagine where they go from here in terms of making and keeping Nina a viable character. And how do you give a love interest to such a disturbed whack job??? Unless Nina is a short term character, solely there to cause trouble….I am not interested in watching yet another psychotic murderer roaming free, awaiting a contrived redemption Carlivati style. The show already has several psychotic female murderers on the show…Obrecht, Heather, Carly, Ava, etc. Adding another one just seems like a touch of overkill (pun intended)!!

@rebecca1….Alas, there is nothing in the world that can ever displace Sappy from her lofty #1 perch on my most despised soap characters list, despite the fact that Ron C seems to be trying his mightiest to give her plenty of company at the top! My word, his latest bumper crop of icky newbies has really outdone itself: Levi, Jordan, Nina, Mickey Diamond???? Oh please! And then there’s that absolutely insufferable piece of work, Nasty Nurse Rosalie! But it’s always nice when we have one of our rare moments of agreement….glad to know it’s not just me that cannot abide the sight of that smirking sidekick of Phyll-ina’s!!!! Maybe we can take turns with those smacking duties….I think it will prove to be a very big job! LOL…..

@Johnny…”Overkill,” indeed!!!! There’s simply no sense of proportion to Port Charles anymore…it is becoming almost completely devoid of any mentally healthy denizens. Perhaps they should rename the show “General Insane Asylum!” (Although I do admit to being amused by Heather and Dr. O’s over-the-top antics….but they should be the exceptions rather than what is becoming the rule in terms of unstable women folk populating the GH canvas.)

Yes…so nice when we agree to despise someone. 🙂

However, the buck stops with Nina and nursey for me in your latest roundup.

I like Jordan; I like the actress. First saw her on the Canadian show Being Erica…totally different role. Erica’s best friend, wife, mom…all around good girl down to her fashionable yet more “sedate” attire.

I doubt Micky D (hahahha…ahem…not McDonalds) is there for the long run. I wouldn’t doubt if Sean offs him and Alice gets his heart.

Levi. LOL…ahhhh, Levi. He’s actually rather amusing to me. I don’t mind his screen time…love the accent…and think in another role I’d find him rather hot. But in his GH persona…I think it’s obvious that he’s got something up his hippy sleeve…and I wouldn’t doubt if he called immigration himself and set Nathan up. It’s also obvious that Maxie won’t wind up with him so for now I enjoy the comic relief between he and Nathan (whose acting continues to improve and whose looks are blindingly gorgeous).

I don’t know if your opinion has changed about Felix and Brad but I love those guys too!

let me clarify…I didn’t mean “too” as in you do and so do I….meant I like them in addition to other characters…

@rebecca1….Yes, we must savor the pleasure of seeing eye to eye, no matter what the circumstance, since it is such a rare occurrence!!! LOL…. Actually, we also somewhat agree on Levi in the sense that we consider the actor to have both an underlying charm and considerable talent which belies the awful character he portrays …it’s just sad that he cannot utilize his gifts in his present guise as the hateful hippy-dippy watermelon Levi. (Such a shame he had to be shouldered with that truly dud of a persona!) Had he been more in the mold of previous Aussie luvvies like Robert Scorpio and Jasper Jacks, then he would have undoubtedly been far better received. Perhaps he can have a “good twin” down the road, once we dispose of his malevolent miscreant menace? Maybe an international banker/adventurer or even another WSB agent from DownUnder???? You know, someone who is the absolute antithesis of the sorry yoga-lovin’, capitalism-hating, vegan slacker/schemer! In other words, a man’s man that could even get along with Nathan! (Who I really don’t mind, especially since finding out that “Mutta” is his mama!) As for Jordan, she just always rubs me the wrong way….don’t like her attitude or antics…and I think Shawn deserves so much better than her difficult woman routine….check my recent posting on a previous thread for details regarding that issue! In terms of “Mickey D.” he seriously makes my skin crawl….the actor playing him was often featured in sinister/quirky roles on a variety of Canadian-based programs I’ve seen in the past, so that probably has something to do with my antipathy toward him….however, it does seem that he is not long for the Port Charles canvas. Candidly speaking, I have surprisingly warmed up to Brad, which I would have never expected, but Parry Shen has managed to redeem his once-oily predator freak into a much more cuddly and viewer-friendly guy. I am firmly in his corner when it comes to a more permanent pairing with Lucas, and I would also love to see a further emergence of his family background as it relates to the “Asian Quarter” storyline of the ’80’s…I always enjoy a nod to those heady days of GH’s history! Finally, Felix is forever ensconced on my “Do Not Like List” because he is joined to Sappy at the hip, and whatever they do with him, she will (apparently) always be around to further impinge upon his character…..those two should have been separated long ago, then there could have possibly been the chance to salvage his busybody BFF-nosy nurse image, but it has now gone too far for me, and I don’t foresee any means by which to correct this, particularly since we are soon going to once again be stuck in the “SobbyZone.” (NOOOOOO!!!!!) Quite honestly, I have been skipping most of the recent episodes and will continue until a lot of the current annoyances have been dispensed with and my favorites get more meaningful exposure: first and foremost Dr. O.! I want her backstory with Victor, sister Madeline and her kinder to be more fully explored, and of course, we need to get back to the Cassadine clan, and see who turns up next. This whole Nina mess and summer filler stuff has just worn me out….

I haven’t even seen the episode yet…about to InDemand it. But I have been sooooo hoping this wasn’t the end of Rafe. Could be any of the above reasons that Michael (Fairman) stated that’s going on….or…could it possibly be just one of those body reactions that happen before death…sort of a whole body spasm/twitch with no life behind it???

I’m voting for Rafe being alive…or Rafe being undead. Just not…dead/dead. 😉

I believe Rafe is dead…Nina’s concious got the best of her…for probably a split second…lol

say it ain’t so… 🙁

Rafe is so cuddly I hope he doesn’t die!!

Me too I have always loved the Rafe character…I think he has more chemistry with Molly than TJ

Yes, no offense to the actor himself, but Rafe is much more interesting that TJ ever will be. Sad… it should be the other way around..TJ dead.

Remember, AJ also did the same thing to Ava but died anyway.

I have considered ALL those possibilities and mostly just hope Jimmy and Rafe get to stay with GH! While it is a last choice, because I like Rafe real, I think it would be so entertaining if loving father Caleb/Stephen Clay did hear of Rafe’s being brain dead and dying, and slipped in to do the only thing he could do to somewhat keep his son alive, and bit him! It hasn’t made sense that Caleb just forgot his son after being so obsessed with getting him all to himself. Can you imagine the story that would give my beloved friend Michael Easton to be in the new dual role of Silas and Caleb? And how hilarious would it be for Nina to have to deal with Rafe and Caleb at this point? I don’t think the writers would go that far, but it would be fun! More realistically, I just wanted Silas to keep his nephew, who looks so much like he could be ME”s son and nephew, and who is a really good young actor. I liked Rafe and Molly from scene 1 and would love to see that explored more. They’d make a great young super couple. I just hope GH is smart enough to keep Jimmy!

Maybe Jimmy plays a new character….Silas and Nina’s child……

While I am firmly convinced that Kiki is actually the biological offspring of Silas and Nina, were that not to be the case, how cool would it be if their true child actually one day surfaced and bore a striking resemblance to the late Rafe???? That little kick would prove to finally push Phyll-ina over the proverbial edge, no???? And not a moment too soon….her charade on wheels needs to be revealed for the completely disingenuous fraud that it is…the plot such as it is now is simply not working.

“Rafe” in the hospital bed who was strung out on drugs and killed Gabrielle could be the vampire kid and the real Rafe could be the one who drives a “Stake” in fake Rafe’s heart.

I thought Rafe might have turned out to be Silas and Nina’s…and the more I look at Kristen/kiki…she looks more like Nina than Ava. Maybe she’ll turn out to be theirs…

HATE that they killed off Rafe. I’m hoping for the vampire story…would love to see him back!

Would be cool if Rafe became a vampire. BTW, remember his ole football helmet hair-do when he first joined the show? They tamed it down later. 🙂

Rafe reminds me of those kids in that teen movie my niece watched sometime ago ‘My Babysitter Is A Vampire’…lol

those two new little earrings he sports doesn’t exactly help his goofy look either!

Finally…hahha…”football helmet” is a perfect description! Figures as soon as they show how cute/good-looking he really is they kill him! Unless…

I don’t like the storyline of Rafe dying. I don’t like Nina and I don’t particularly like Dr. Drake (I’m sorry he lost his son, I hate when children die to further a storyline, but an eye for and eye…nah!) and if he dies then Nina and Patrick will get away with dastardly deeds and Patrick will never know who is behind the accident. What kind of deal is that? Is the culprit going to walk up and say I put Rafe up to it…I don’t think so. I think it would have been much better story to let Molly rescue Rafe from his problems, Rafe could have told who the “bad guy” who coerced him and Patrick can get his vengeance on the real bad dude and Nina well, like the “Phyllis story” on Y&R, the Nina story will still reign supreme and she will continue to wreak havoc but everyone will ooh and ahh over her. Alice needs a heart but not Rafe’s. AND the vampire storyline sticks as well…please not that. Pretty soon there are going to be more bad dudes than good characters on the show. Please let Rafe wake up.

I dont think Patrick harmed Rafe unless Ron C. is obsessed with the movie ‘The Crazies’ where just about everyone in town goes nuts and he is writing GH that way…lol

He may not have intentionally harmed him but if struggling with conscience/alter ego took as long as it seemed to the viewer….he might have saved him if he clamped the bleed sooner,

The way Ron changes characters to fit whatever plot he is pushing is the antithesis of what soap writing should be. Patrick is suddenly a hate filled psycho on the warpath threatening a teenager and saying over and over and over “He killed my son!!!!!!!!! He murdered my son!!!!!”. No, he actually didn’t. The baby was severely premature and could not survive. There is nothing saying Sabrina wouldn’t have given birth prematurely even if it wasn’t for the accident. Patrick is a doctor who would never be allowed to run around the corridors of GH acting like a maniac! But oh wait…this is the show that has a murderer as Chief of Staff…and a serial killer whack job working with children. Any job that requires work with children requires a criminal record check, and I doubt a serial killer and child kidnapper would be allowed to work within 100 feet of children. At some point….they have to start writing this show with some form of groundable reality otherwise it is just a farce and a parody, much like Passions was.

@Johnny….Whereas soap plots and characters were once dictated according to the serial’s “bible,” today’s GH seems much more conditional upon Ron C.’s moods and fancies….(Nothing is ever carved in stone, even if that requires retro-fitting a storyline to meet current needs.) Either that, or they just toss darts to see upon which ideas they land! Regardless, the outcome rather resembles a product made by and for those afflicted with ADHD….

Rafe is dead. Nina is a nut job.

Brain dead is brain dead. I think Nina’s guilt is making her imagine this. Maybe a muscle reflex but she has to be imagining him sitting up looking at her. Still an amazing OMG! moment.

Just a tease to bring everyone back on Monday. Thats cool, its a soap.

If I’m remembering correctly didn’t they just do the same thing with AJ when he grabbed Carly’s hand?

AJ was in a coma with brain activity. Rafe is brain dead with a machine keeping oxygen flowing through his system.

I can’t imagine Ron C retelling stories! He has recycled so many of his own stories in 2 years on GH. Where to begin. A mystery person runs a car off the road…baby dies as a result. Is it Baby Hope with Starr wanting revenge against Sonny, or is it Patrick wanting revenge against Rafe? A psychopath from the past comes back to town with an altered appearance trying to take over mob activity in the town. Is it Faison or Julian? A man comes back to town trying to be a better man, and begins to win Elizabeth’s heart…but is accused of a crime he didn’t commit, then “dies” suddenly with everyone believing the worst about him. Is it AJ or Ric? Ron doesn’t even have to write new scripts, just change the character names on old ones!

@mfarris70…yes. I knew the difference in their medical conditions. Was just saying it was the same “dramatic” coma/eye suddenly opening/grabbing hand at bedside…is he alive? will he live???

@Johnny. LOL…and now we have the same face twist…Fluke.

I THINK it’s a dream, I HOPE it’s not!

The bigger question is…will Ric Lansing disguise himself(cant he get one of those latex masks) and attempt to visit Molly in the hospital…will Alexis and Sam at least tell Kristina off screen that her sister was in a horrible accident…will Nik visit and see Ric in disguise…or will Ric pull an A.J. and not appear for 3 months…just wondering???

I hope so!!!

I wonder if they’re going to keep Ric offscreen til Fluke comes back…for now Ric’s in witness protection. They’re not going to officially let Ric go until Fluke is caught…

I read Tony Geary might not come back because of his back but i hope he’ll be fine and able to return to wrap up this storyline!!!

Unless you’ve read something different last I read he went to (Amsterdam is it?) to recuperate but plans on being back in October.

I just saw the same thing online, jimh/rebecca1. Seems that AG had two really seriously bad breaks in his back and his convalescence following the surgery to correct this condition is perhaps taking longer than expected???? Other than the fact that it is annoying to have the Fluke thing hanging over the show without a resolution, thus far, I honestly don’t miss Luke’s odious double. He had become so gross and offensive that it’s actually a relief to be free of him for awhile. But it is hard knowing that RealLuke is languishing in his padded cell with no liberation in sight! Having said that,I maintain that despite AG’s protestations, when his swansong is upon us, it must include a Laura component to be satisfying. Like it or not, the fans deserve this much after 30+loyal years following the Lucas Lorenzo Spencer saga!

I think it’s all in Nina’s head which sucks since killing him off for his heart is lazy on the writers part if you ask me. I find it stupid that they would bring him up front again for this baby killing s/l just to kill him off before it gets good, there were so many other paths they could have taken that would have been more interesting than this rehashed transplant mess.

I agree completely. What it all comes down to is their budget. They swap out one actor for another to stay within..

I agree with the budget comment, but it wouldn’t be as big of an issue if the cast wasn’t so huge. They bring in all of these characters that many fans don’t care all that much for and many get lost in the shuffle. I think I would of been more inclined to care if it was another serial killer s/l, they could get rid of the excess and bring the cast back to something more manageable.

I don’t know…I said this on another post but I’m wondering if the cancellation of the other soaps has something to do with the huge cast. On the one hand they’re cutting people to stay within budget…on the other they’re bringing in actors from other soaps to increase fan base. It’s a win for them…viewers who’ve never watched GH tune in to see OLTL people…or a remaining soap loses an actor and they swoop her up.

I’m not necessarily against it. I’ve watched GH for many years, but I was also a fan of OLTL so I was thrilled to see old familiar faces on GH. They didn’t increase viewership in that case because I would have watched GH without them…but it’s been an added bonus for OLTL fans to have these actors.

The little microcosm that makes up soaps is, as the word implies, a world unto itself. We’re bound to see actors come and go and come back again.

What I do resent/dislike is when they haphazardly, or so it seems…put a character in the front then toss him on the back burner only to kill him off. AJ…now Rafe. Granted, there is no comparison between a beloved legacy character like AJ…but Rafe was or could have been a great developing character. They brought him in, connected him to people we care about.. alot of us came to care about him…then bam. He’s gone.

Sorry people but I cannot stand Rafe; how he does not seem to have natural movements and it is if he is afraid to say his lines. Have seen him in a couple other movies as bit parts and then is too stiff. I like the last LuLu before this one. Who wants Nina? She plays in LMN movies. The show was going good before the new LuLu, Rafe and Nina. I hope there are no more zombies. Rather stupid for a soap

Nina is vile, and so is her side kick nurse. She called Rafe a baby killer and paid $500 to run and her nurse followed him to the garage to make sure he left. They both make me sick. Naturally, this will break up Silas and Sam. Sam knows Patrick too well to believe he would kill a patient for revenge. She went through that ordeal with Jason and Patrick right after Robin was “killed” in the lab. Of course the writers will redeem Nina, but, for me, she’s disgusting.

its all in Nina’s head, i wish they hadn’t killed of Rafe but clearly they want to play out the heart transplant story, and silas going after patrick and remember Rafe told Molly someone made him cause the accident so then thats another mystery of who was really behind the accident’ ect.. i doubt rafe is alive because of all those components

I heard that Rafe’s heart is not viable due to his drug addiction. It’s going to be that guy that is meeting Jordan for dinner. It’s rumor, but I believe that’s what happens.

That is so stupid. He is a 17 year old kid who did drugs for what 2 minutes?? His heart would not be compromised in such a fashion by that.

They pulled this stunt a few months ago with AJ and Ava. I love the show but these last two episodes focusing on Rafe and Alice, and the Lucas triangle were downright weird and seemed like filler. Let’s move on. Back to Ava and Dehlia! What happened to Lucas’ gun shot wound? was it in his belly button?

Absolutely, could not agree more.

Nina in my opinion has stayed too long….It’s stunt casting…I Just don’t like HER!!!!

he’s a vampire or not!!!…don’t like the writing on this story, they could have made Sam

pregnant with Silas’s baby, and watch Nina SPAZ out!!!!!….And I Don’t care for Patrick

And Sam…They should remain friends, not lovers….and Nina got to much time on the

show…..gee whiz!!

I don’t know if Jimmy has other acting jobs lined up or not, but that scene sure did scare the crap out of me! I don’t want him to leave, but if he does I wish him much success in life. He can pull it off when they give him a chance to really act.

Good Day!

If he’s in ICU and wakes up, those nurses better be in there pronto or Nina will smother him for sure.

I really hope it was a last nervous twitch and that he falls back out and Alice gets his heart. This character has been a drip since day 1!

Not sure how the viewers are supposed to believe that after not seeing Rafe for months, that all of a sudden he was a drug addict who was probably bribed, coerced, or forced to run Patrick, etc off the road (by Faux Luke, I’m guessing) is now dead. How are the viewers supposed to be invested in the character or this storyline, when it’s all back story, behind the scenes. This is what happens with an on-slaught of new, recurring, useless characters are brought on-air, with no ties to the show-storylines get lost in the shuffle. I have been forgetting about characters and storylines (i.e., that Lucas was even shot, Lucy and Scott’s affair, that Patrick’s car wreck was intentional, etc.). It’s just so sad to see what the writers and casting have done to this prestigious show. What happened to core, legacy, and historic families-The Cassadines, Quartermaines? Love affairs. Love triangles. Cliff-hanger Fridays?

the Cassadines are being rebuilt..
Love affairs are boring ..
Love triangles are hohum..
and Fri , when Rafe opened his eyes was one helluva a cliff hanger.. GH has many cliffhangers..
GH is rocking!! it is moving on and the stories are awesome!!

The hit TV show ”24”
We live 24 hours in 47 minutes… ”get it”
Wanting to have every second of back story explained is nonsense..
Just enjoy the show, it is entertainment, and fun .. 🙂

and –
The Lucas being shot story ended .. We found out who and why ..
Lucy and Scott’s story ended.. Lucy and her hubby parted leaving her and scotty.
The car wreck turned intentional because the story has not ended, and that was part 2..
People need to pay attention 🙂

Rafe should not be killed off. Kill off one of the senseless characters like Levi, Brad, etc. Dr. Albrecht would be ok. Can’t stand looking at her. Monica should be head of the hospital again.

I’m with you on Monica being Chief of Staff again. How come she’s suddenly, apparently, back on staff with the Alice storyline? That came out of left field, but was a very welcome return!

The “confrontation” between Rate and Nina was hilarious! Jimmy Deshler got a chance to act like he never had before on the show!!! He played attitude, comedy, and cockiness SO awesome its a shame those were some of his final moments on the show. When he looked at her and said “Still think its a reflex bitch??” I laughed SO hard!!!!! The whole storyline of Rafe being a sudden drug addict, then a baby killer, and then brain dead, has been preposterous, and Alice needing a heart transplant just reeks of a last minute writers decision, in some attempt to bring all these stories together. Since Claire Labine wrote the transplant template, every show has tried, some more than once, to do a transplant story, each one less successful than the last. Terrible terrible story choices. The character of Rafe was full of potential and him and Molly made much more sense than her and TJ. Not to mention that a nearly identical story played out just last year when Trey died in a car accident, and was also brain dead. And why does Sonny get off on threatening and bullying and holding a pregnant woman hostage? He seems actually turned on when he threatens to murder the pregnant Ava. He is gross and disgusting. This is no different than when Ric held Carly hostage in the panic room. I am not going to sit and watch 9 months of cold hearted murderer Sonny emotionally endangering the welfare of a mother and a child. Not my idea of entertainment. That’s child abuse not to mention violence against women!!!

Errrrr…Ava is not a mother being held hostage. She’s a cold-blooded murderess who indirectly was responsible for AJ’s death…tried to kill Franco…and did kill Connie. I think the character is interesting and fun…unpredictable and multi-faceted, scheming and conniving…but a victim? No.

I actually think Sonny is exhibiting extraordinary restraint…he’s living with a woman who killed his fiance!!!! Yes, she’s carrying his child or grandchild…but while keeping her alive you would think he would be as nasty and as brutal as he could without hurting the child. Surprisingly…he’s just plays the taunting game with her. THAT’s what I find most non credible.

Not to mention Ava was willing to harm the fetus by drinking booze on purpose so Sonny would not get a healthy baby out of it– now that’s cold even for Ava. But the way those two go at each other, I suspect sooner or later, as twisted as this sounds, all the hate will turn into passion and they will end up in “love” or at least RC’s dark version of it.

Maybe someday TIIC of this show will allow Ava or someone else to stick Sonny in a very dark and dank closet. The man is scum. Ava isn’t any better but. She is suppose to be this way. Sonny acts like he is better than Ava. He looked AJ in the eye and shot him. He wanted to kill him. he took his son so that makes him AJ the evul ? I had never seen AJ do anything except try to be a father to his son. This show sucks. Nothing has changed since these two idiots came aboard. I think they need to do a shoot out ala the old west and sonny and Ava need to kill each other. Then maybe I would turn it back on.

I don’t think they should kill Rafe off… I mean what was the point of showing us Caleb truly was alive and most certainly a vampire, if they weren’t planning on using that somewhere?! What could be a better time than now…to save his son! GH needs to listen to their fans and we want Rafe to stay! And for the people who think a Vampire story line is ridiculous…just enjoy the out of the box imagination and have fun! It’s so much better than watching kids being killed off! Soaps need to be an escape… And there is way too much violence in the world!!!

I sort of agree with you, Dawn. I love the vampire lore in general…albeit if they’re hot, gorgeous vampires. Somehow the old, decrepit bats of the past don’t do it for me. 😉

And I love a good vampire story. I never watched Port Charles and missed the whole Caleb story…but if it was done well I’d be all for it carrying over to GH. If it turned out to be a disaster…I’m sure they could say the whole town was drugged and it was all just a dream…

knew she was dreaming. would have loved if Rafe would rat on Nina. Someone needs to and quick! the heroin was a surprise tho. alice needs to get the truth out about tracy & mr. luke… hope the find a heart for her. I love Alice!

Absolutely loved the part where Rafe said ” Still think its a reflex bitch!” I’m still hoping Rafe will pull through! I think there’s more chemistry between Molly and Rafe vs Molly and TJ. I hate how you are invested in the character and then they get rid of them! Yes Rafe didn’t seem to have much air time, which I think is a huge missed opportunity on their part. Rafe has a lot more to offer than they are allowing. Still hoping he’ll become a Vampire and get revenge on Nina!

Dawn! I would to see Rafe come back as well, they really missed this one, he was a great asset to the show, I will miss him, but they have brought back others from the dead, one can hope right!!

does anyone know who sang the song when they took rafe off life support today ? we are reaching out?

I want to know the name of that song too.

Well, aj woke up to try and tell micheal everything but instead he wound up telling carly.

That’s a website all by itself. Back to nina I didn’t get to see it Friday but I say he should come back to life. But that would leave silas another person who needs constant and expensive medical care for him to worry about and alice wouldn’t get her heart. Also why should everyone else involved in the storyline of those 2 wacky sisters, magda and liesl find out this soon that she’s even nuttier than they are?!!!

what if Nina relapses…. and she gets Rafe’ heart…. after he’s on life support… and his body is flushed out of all toxins, drugs…. a purification if you will

Alice will end up getting some one else’ heart

it’s quite clear… fan sentiment is just not going their…. with Michelle Stafford w/ Sam and Silas. no chemistry… no looking forward to… interest was never there

Nina needs to relapse…. and Billy Miller comes back to Port Charles… general hospital as a doctor and physical therapist… and hence… this gives Michelle stafford a new beginning… her heart after 20 years.. just wasn’t ready…. so, Silas… in his way of forgiving and letting…. gives Rafe’ heart to Nina

and we all move along

Michelle Stafford needs to get out of that chair…. to immobilize her… is just not where the fans of MS… want to see her… or know her to be

she needs all the gusto… energy…. commando… come hither… womanhood beware

————-

Roger Howarth… as the hospital art therapist…. near snore… obvious we don’t know what to do with him ANY MORE…

it’s near embarrassing now to watch Carly and Franco

Roger Howarth’ Franco got jealous of – drum roll – sonny
OK just checking

pulse deaden

if they want to up the ante for Sonny’ part of the GH equation

kill Carly, Franco, Kiki, Michael, may as well throw in Olivia if she’s not going to be doing any thing… other than play grandma… Sean, TJ, Jordan…..

any way… if they want to up the ante and give Sonny equation… bring back Ava mother… that was so short… lame… obvious… that she, along with Ava… ARE entertaining the audience out of the doldrums that Sonny isn’t

who was that immigration agent? the actor looked very familiar!

I think Levi called from Nathan’s phone… but probably just a call and hang up, just so the number would show up on the phone.

I really wonder if the “agent” was just hired by Levi to pretend to be from immigration.
All just to fool poor Maxie, to alienate her from family and friends, to get Nathan in trouble with Maxie, and from the looks of the previews, to get Maxie to marry him…. which reminds of same ole Maxie – doing the wrong thing for the wrong reason (i.e. going to jail for someone else)

Did Nathan have his cell phone on the 4th when he and Maxie were handcuffed? I figure they’ll take another look at the time/date stamp and figure out that Nathan couldn’t have made the call.

GENERAL HOSPITAL: Brook Lynn and Chase Have Their Bachelor and Bachelorette Parties

On General Hospital, Brook Lynn (Amanda Setton) and Chase (Josh Swickard) both were treated to Bachelorette and Bachelor parties to shake off any of those pre-wedding jitters. At The Savoy, the ladies have a touching and fun time with Brook Lynn.

The bride-to-be gives a speech to thank everyone for coming, while Lois lets everyone know to try the signature cocktail the “Brooklynn Chaser”, which gets everybody eventually and mostly, drunk.

When Tracy (Jane Elliot) questions Lois (Rena Sofer) as to why there is no music for the party, Lois realizes she forgot, and somehow, who does she call to the rescue? Spinelli (Bradford Anderson)! Saving the day, he winds up playing some tunes and later gets on the dance floor to ‘shake it off’ with the gals.

Photo: ABC

Lois makes a speech as the mother of the bride, and shares how proud she is of the woman Brook Lynn has become. Wedding games begin, including one of “hot potato” with a wedding bouquet.

When it’s time for the “Silly Poses” section of the party, Spinelli has now morphed from DJ to staff photographer taking memorable photos of the ladies to remember the evening by.

Photo: ABC

The best part of the event, was when Brook Lynn tries to get her grandmother Tracy out on the dance floor, which, at first, she refuses. After several of the guests bust a move, a tipsy Tracy joins the dance party after Joss mentions that if her grandmother Bobbie was here, she would dance. Tracy says “she agrees” and begins to cut a rug on the floor, much to the delight of the other women.

In the final moments, a tipsy Joss and Kristina (Kate Mansi) have a confrontation about Sonny, and Joss lets Kristina in more on Sonny’s behavior, which looks to have clued in Kristina a bit more as to how something is way off about her dad.

Across town at the Hatchett Bar, Dante (Dominic Zamprogna) and the men with the exception of Anna (Finola Hughes) and Jordan (Tanisha Harper), all attend Chase’s Bachelor Party where throwing hatchets into a dart board for supremacy is the order of the day. Drew (Cameron Mathison) and Ned (Wally Kurth) get into some words over ELQ, while Dante makes a toast to his police partner, Chase.

Photo: ABC

Suddenly Dex (Evan Hofer) shows up. Chase thanks Dex for coming, but Dex gets some dirty looks from other cops on the force. Dante gives Chase his present, which is a signed baseball by the Boston Red Sox.

Ned (Wally Kurth) makes a speech that although no one is good enough for his daughter, Brook Lynn, Chase has come closer than anyone has, so welcome to the family. Running in at the end is Blaze (Jacqueline Grace Lopez), who just left Brook Lynn’s party, and she toasts her singing partner, Chase, and to the great man that he is.

Cameron Mathison Previews New Game Show ‘Beat The Bridge’ (Promo)

As previously reported, Cameron Mathison (Drew, General Hospital) will be seen doing double duty this summer when he premieres in June as the host of Game Show Network’s Beat The Bridge.

Now, while Cameron will be the host with the most, that doesn’t mean he will stop playing GH’s Drew.  In fact, Mathison taped the game show in 2023, so it will now air for the first time in 2024.

Taking to his Instagram this week, Cameron shared his enthusiasm and some new hosting snaps, sharing, “Our newest game show host reporting for duty😎 Head over to the Game Show Network YouTube channel for your first look at the show and don’t miss Beat The Bridge premiering this June! In Beat The Bridge, an enormous interactive bridge dares players to cross by stepping on the right answers to challenging trivia questions. As they play, each steps forward and puts money in their team’s bank, with bonus money for each successful crossing. Here’s the catch: the team gets to keep the money only if it can “beat the bridge” by returning one of its players back across before time expires.

Meanwhile, on GH, Drew and Nina (Cynthia Watros) recently had hate-sex. Do you think its a one-time deal? Where will Drew’s story take him next under new head writers, Patrick Mulcahey and Elizabeth Korte? Stay tuned.

GENERAL HOSPITAL: Nina Confronts Ava for Sabotaging Her Relationship With Sonny and Signs the Divorce Papers

Looks like Nina (Cynthia Watros) and Ava (Maura West) are back to be each other’s sworn enemy number one. By the end of the Monday, April 22nd episode of General Hospital, the women know where they stand with each other after Nina goes in on Ava accusing her of wanting Sonny (Maurice Benard) all to herself, while her marriage has been on the rocks.

In story, at Nina’s office, Ava shows up to see Nina and says she is sorry about what happened with Sonny and that he reacted the way he did, acknowledging that is was over the top, even for Sonny. Ava says she’ll smooth things over, but Nina says she now understands how manipulative and transparent Ava really is.

Given their horrible history, Nina goes in on Ava and how she should never have trusted her. Nina wants to know how long has Ava had this agenda dating all the way back to telling Nina to turn Carly (Laura Wright) and Drew (Cameron Mathison) into the SEC. Ava says she never told her do to that, but Nina wants to know how long Ava has been playing her for a fool.

Courtesy/ABC

Ava says she moved in with Sonny to keep Avery safe and she wants to be on good terms with Avery’s father, Sonny. Nina thinks she likes being in Sonny’s inner circle. Ava tells Nina if she goes to him about her advising Nina to call the SEC on Carly and Drew, it won’t work.  Sonny still considers Nina a traitor and he will think she’s lying because she’s so desperate to win him back. Ava says if Nina would stop blaming everyone else that maybe Sonny would respect her.  Nina says “like he does you?” Ava says Sonny not only respects her, but he also counts on her.

From there, Ava launches into why she and Sonny understand each other, after all, Sonny is a powerful, turbulent, and sometimes violent man. She goes so far to say if Nina wanted someone to just sit by the fire with and play with their grandchildren, she’s got the wrong guy.  Ava then talks about Mike from Nixon Falls (Sonny with amnesia) and how Sonny hid the darkest parts of himself from Nina back then, whereas with Ava they are the same similar creatures, so he doesn’t have to hide anything.

Courtesy/ABC

Nina wants to know just what Ava wants with Sonny? What is her end game? Ava responds that they understand each other, in ways she can’t with Sonny. Nina tells Ava she can go ahead and have it all and signs Sonny’s divorce papers. Ava walks out with the documents, while Nina in tears at her desk, takes off her wedding rings and has her assistant come in so she can messenger the rings back to Sonny’s address.

The episode and these scenes featured great performances by Cynthia Watros and Maura West. You can check some of the scenes below.

Now, let us know, what is Ava’s next move? Is she going to become Mrs. Sonny Corinthos? Do you like Ava and Nina as enemies? Comment below.
