February Love on ‘General Hospital’: Here’s What’s In Store For Several Couples
Tomorrow is February 1 and you know what that means! We are only 14 days till Valentine Day’s and the kick-off to the most romantic time of the year. And what is the top reasons people watch their favorite dramas? Yup, for all the lovin’ and romance.
Coming up on ABC’s General Hospital, we’ve got the skinny on five Port Charles pairings for February, and where they may be headed coming out of this week’s blizzard!
In their February preview, Swoon focused on these duos, now let us take a closer look. First, Nathan West (Ryan Paevey) and Lulu Spencer (Alexa Havins Bruening).
NATHAN AND LULU

Photo: ABC
According to the outlet, they will have trouble keeping their distance. But, of course, with his former wife and her best friend, Maxie (Kirsten Storms) set to wake up from her months long coma, just after the two shared a passionate kiss where they both admitted to each other that they each liked it, complications will ensue.
We predict several months of longing looks between Nathan and Lulu, while Maxie might figure out that this Nathan is not really her husband, but a twin or a doppelganger, after all. It will be interesting to see how GH crafts the story and who we will be rooting for to get together come spring.
LUCY AND JENZ

Photo: ABC
Then, there is Lucy Coe (Lynn Herring) and Jenz Sidwell (Carlo Rota). Lucy likes powerful and rich men, and with Sidwell, it’s hard to decipher if he truly likes Lucy at all, or just using her like he does everyone else. Come February, Lucy gives him an ultimatum. But, just how long before she realizes she misjudged a guy, once again, and he is actually a very, very, very bad man?
After all, Sidwell shot and killed Professor Henry Dalton right in front of Britt, he has Anna captive and is in cahoots with Cullum, etc, etc. But, will Lucy stay in a relationship with him, so come May he can fund the Nurses Ball again? Stay tuned.
CURTIS AND JORDAN

Courtesy/ABC
Next, Curtis Ashford (Donnell Turner) and Jordan Ashford (Tanisha Harper) enjoy some romance. But for how long? If Portia’s baby turns out to be Curtis’, will it draw him back to Portia? Can Curtis and Jordan actually stay together this time given their past? Will Stella or the Ashfords somehow interfere with their relationship, and what about Isaiah? Will he go from a once good guy doctor to someone more vengeful if he doesn’t get Portia to himself? Would he switch her paternity tests so he will stay with him? Stay tuned.
BRITT AND JASON
What about Britt Westbourne (Kelly Thiebaud) and Jason Morgan (Steve Burton)? After Britt finally confessed what happened to her after she was taken to the Five Poppies, who was involved, what she has been working on, and how much danger she and Jason are both in, they agree they have to publicly part ways. However, be on the lookout for a secret rendezvous for Valentine’s Day.
ELIZABETH AND RIC
Can exes Ric Lansing (Rick Hearst) and Elizabeth Webber (Rebecca Herbst) finally get on the same page and leave the past behind? Seems like Ric will be taking head nurse Webber out on a date. But, will things work out between the two? Do you want them too, or is Ric a better match as the ‘Bickersons’ with Alexis Davis (Nancy Lee Grahn)?
From the five couples talked about above, which are you most intrigued at seeing where their relationship might go? Who are you a “no go” with? Let us know via the comment section below.
NO to Ric and Liz! She can be a pain but deserves way better than him and though I applaud his trying to become a better person, I think he is too damaged and eventually will retreat to what he knows best scheming, conniving and generally making life harder for everyone!
Jason and Britt PLEASE
Lulu and Nathan NO, unless the rules of the girl code are STRICTLY followed. Hands off a friend’s man unless she is ok with it. Now if Maxie wakes up and realizes Nathan is NOT who he says he is and Maxie does the best thing for Maxie which is to accept Spinelli’s proposal, then fine if Lulu is ok knowing Nathan is an imposter. If she wakes up and still has feelings for Nathan and it IS him, then a VERY serious discussion has to happen between Maxie and Nathan and them only.
Jordan and Curtis jury is still out. I would prefer the baby not be part of the equation, but don’t want anything to happen to Portia or the baby. I also would like to know who Dr Gannon really is and what his story is. Portia has had enough problems, she does not need any more surprises!
Curtis and Jordan are one of the worst pairings on gh currently they have zero chemistry together and give us more of Isaiah and Portia pairing on screen currently
Please pair Curtis with Jordan. I never wanted him with Portia.
I could not agree more
Hoping Maxie wakes up and immediately suspects he’s not Nathan. Then, when Liesl comes to visit, she asks why no one exhumed the grave was she buried Nathan.
Let’s have Lucy be smart this time (and not fall into a similar trap she did with Victor Cassadine).
Ric and Elizabeth? I guess they’re both single, but he always winds up breaking her heart. Alexis has enough going on without venturing into the romance department.
No to ric and liz
Nathan and Lulu: I don’t think Nathan is legit. So, I certainly don’t want him pairing with Maxie. Maxie belongs with Spinelli. And she should realize that when she wakes up. I don’t know who I’s pair Lulu with. I feel very strongly that Lulu and Dante are completely over. Their needs to be new characters come in for Lulu and Dante.
Lucy and Jenz: A gigantic NO!!!!!!!!!!!!! Lucy needs to wake up and steer clear of that snake. Jenz is a better fit for Ava. Lucy and Martin need to find their way back together.
Curtis and Jordan: I’d like to see them make it and wish them very well. Regardless of the paternity test results, I think Curtis and Portia are history. I want Isaiah Gannon’s father to turn out to be RJ Gannon and for RJ to pay a visit to Port Charles. We could use some RJ wit. Besides RJ is very capable of manipulating a paternity test.
Jason and Britt: They deserve each other because they are both nothing but bad news.
Elizabeth and Ric: I applaud Ric trying to become a better person. But, he’s got a very, very long way to go. Elizabeth is truly a good person. She’s had to deal with so much with deadbeats Lucky and Jason and then the character that Roger Howarth played that died. Please give Elizabeth a break and find her an honest, honorable man.
Jason is not trouble. He’s a good person and he cares deeply for the ones he loves!!!!
Jason is a love the one your with guy too fickle
Agree
Jason is a perfect gentle man only he is not a law bidden citizen but he is loyal dependable understanding mostly trustworthy he would give up his life for his love one most of all he does not pretend (what you see is what you get)take it or live it l am very found of the character.
Unlike Curtis, Isaiah’s love for Portia is not determined by how much he can control her. I don’t see him switching the paternity test. I also don’t see Curtis going back to Portia. She’s finally free of him. Let’s keep it that way. Let Jordan and Curtis be two self-righteous, pathetic peas in a pod.
It a big NO for Liz and Ric!!! She deserves better.
Man, it seems like these writers seriously don’t care for Elizabeth/Becky. Why can’t they give her a strong lead story instead of another wash, rinse, repeat of the past. I wish they would bring her sons home, and give her a NEW love interest. Dante is single. Liz and Dante could come together and figure out Willow is guilty of shooting Drew and she caused his stroke. Both have lost a partner they loved, they could bond over that and find love with each other. She could help him navigate his relationship with Gio.
But no, they just use Liz to prop up Ric. Again. YAWN!
If Lulu has moved on, I say take a risk and give Liz and Dante a chance at love.
Ric has great chemistry with Alexis. Yes, they bicker but I enjoy their banter. They were a great match years ago before the writers ruined them. Plus, it would be great drama if Ric and Alexis end up together only for Molly to discover the truth about what led to Ric’s stay in the basement.
Very much like the idea of Elizabeth and Dante for the reasons you listed Gracie. Let’s hope the writers come to the same conclusion.
I wish they would, but I have very little faith in these writers when it comes to Elizabeth. It’s like they just don’t care about her character. Elizabeth hasn’t had a decent storyline since Franco was killed off. I miss FRIZ. They were a great match. I would rather see Elizabeth and Dante in a new romance instead of Elizabeth with Ric for the 100th time.
Agree 100 the way elizabeth/becky is treated is shameful
I wish Lulu and Nathan would work out but seeing as he MAY not be (probably IS NOT) who he says he is, that seems doomed. Maybe they could write it that the guy he really is was brain-washed and wasn’t “playing” Nathan on purpose. Then they could continue.
Lucy and Jenz? Lucy always gets herself into trouble because of bad guys. I don’t want Jenz with anyone. But I do think it would be fun to see Lucy and Ava catfight over him. Jenz would probably be amused.
I like Jordan and Curtis together and Portia and Isaiah together. Hope each couple has a fresh start and don’t rehash old patterns.
Britt and Jason have always been end-game for me. I like the way Jason softens her jagged edges. And when Jason is around her his stone-cold demeanor seems to start melting.
The writers have woefully neglected Liz, sending all her children off canvas when they were just developing interesting stories. They gave her a promotion right into oblivion. At least Ric is like a puppy dog around Liz. The problem is forgetting all the terrible things Ric has done in the past. They need to show he has really changed before I would fully accept him with LIz.
And though not mentioned in this story, how about some other potential couplings?:
Tracy and Martin. – Yes, please!
Valentine and Carly – Yeah, no. Friends? Sure.
Jack and Carly – I liked them together until it seemed Jack was nefarious. But now that Callum is on the scene and seems to be the one calling the shots, it seems like they’re trying to redeem Jack by making it seem his “bad deeds” were actually Callum’s fault. Maybe Jacks in it for the long haul.?
Danny and Charlotte – No thank you. Too yucky on paper. If I forget that they’re related, the actors are cute together. But, no. Where’s Georgie?
Trina and Kai – Zzzzz. Oh! Sorry, I fell asleep.
Michael and Jucinda – Yes, please! Something, though, has me wondering if the writers are going to turn them into a triangle with Kristina. Hmmm…
Molly and Cody – Cute.
Brook Lynn and Chase – Couple most in need of rescuing and a decent storyline. Adopt a kid or have a miracle baby already and start that family. How I miss Chase’s niece!
Marco and Lucas – My vote for most ruined couple. Marco didn’t need to be so complicit with his father. He could have had shades of gray. But now I wouldn’t trust him to pour me a glass of wine without poisoning it. Lucas deserves better. Even Brad was better. And where’s Felix?
Spenelli and Maxie – Yes, please. They may be boring and ordinary, but that’s nice to show regular couples. They are interesting enough on their own to get good stories.
Mac and Felicia – Same as their daughter above. Just give them a good story supporting each
other.
Sonny and Justine – Yes, please. The cat and mouse, tug of war game they seem to play is fun to watch.
Yuri and Terry – My vote for couple in need of some screen time and a story. People love them and yet Terry has been lost at GH while Yuri occasionally answers the door at the Q mansion. Where’s the love, writers???
And one last thing…I wish the writers would bring Aiden home and continue the story with Tobias.
JMHO.
Nice thorough analysis. I don’t agree with some of those you mentioned but respect the thought put into this.
I doubt whoever “Nathan” is lasts all the way through 2026. So, this Lulu flirtation playing out is not that bad.
Instead of a Martin-Tracy pairing, I’d like to see Tracy scheme to get Martin and Lucy back together after Lucy’s dalliance with Jenz ends.
There’s a promo shot of Elizabeth and Dante this week. Don’t know if it’s a chem test, but as another commenter said it’s not a bad idea. I’d prefer to see a triangle with Dante-Justine-Sonny pitting father against son. Dom and Nazneen look really good together.
If Kai or Marco make it to the midway point of 2026, I’d be surprised.
Yes to more Yuri-Terry and recast Aiden with Tobias.
Elizabeth and dante
I honestly couldn’t care less about Lucy and Jenz. Curtis and Jordan are boring to me. I would replace them with Michael and Jacinda and Emma and Gio. Both couples are far more interesting and have better chemistry.
Ric has almost killed Elizabeth twice, by his own hand. And then Faith nearly killed her once because she was having an affair with Ric. Ric has lied to her, manipulated her, and humiliated her multiple times. Why on earth would anyone who is an Elizabeth fan with her to be with him?
Not me no to elizabeth and ric put her with dante
Oh, and hell no to Jason & Britt.
You’re right no to Jason and britt
Absolutely no Jason ang britt Jason is too good for britt all she is using him she has too many issues Jason needs a woman to support him no matter what too bad carly will always be his friend and I hope it stay that way.
General Hospital
GENERAL HOSPITAL: Sidwell is Set Up By Lucas and Company, Cassius is in the Right Place at the Right Time
On the Wednesday, June 10 episode of General Hospital, after Sidwell (Carlo Rota) shoots Lucas (Van Hansis) three times, he is surrounded by PCPD commissioner Dante Falconeri (Dominic Zamprogna), Joe (Jonathan Bennett) and other uniformed cops. Laura (Genie Francis) and Sonny (Maurice Benard) show up and the mayor runs to Lucas as Joe checks his vitals.
Lucas comes to and reveals (as we all predicted) that he was wearing a bulletproof vest. That reveal sets Sidwell off that he was played as Dante says there is evidence enough to arrest him for attempted murder.
Sidwell though, tells Dante that he needs to arrest Laura and his father, the mobster Sonny Corinthos, for Professor Dalton’s murder, but admits he no longer has the proof because Lucas broke into his safe and stole the evidence.

LUCAS GETS BY WITH A LITTLE HELP FROM HIS FRIENDS
Just then, “Nathan” (Ryan Paevey) shows up wondering what he missed. Sidwell says his lawyer will get the charges thrown out since Dante, Laura, Sonny and Lucas conspired against him. However, Dante mistakenly allows “Nathan” aka Cassius to be in charge of taking Sidwell to the PCPD and to book him.
Lucas is still uneasy. Laura wants him to go to GH to be checked out. Dante asks Laura and Sonny and Sonny about Dalton’s death, but they play dumb as if they know nothing about it, which is not lost on Dante that they are lying.
Later, none other than Joe takes Lucas to the hospital, and for the first time we see the two characters truly in a one-on-one moment together. Lucas talks about Marco and Joe waits around till the nurse comes to get Lucas to get checked out. Do you get a sense that Joe likes Lucas, or is that all in our minds?

SIDWELL GETS AWAY
Taking a side road, Cassius gets Sidwell out of his vehicle, and tells him he cannot protect him from an attempted murder charge, so the only thing Jenz can do is to get out of the country and disappear for good. Sidwell says he has many contingency plans in place, and also warns Cassius that he will expose him if he does not comply with what he needs him to do.
To make it look good, Sidwell asks for Cassius’ gun. In the final moments of the show, Cassius is seen with a gash on his head calling Dante, and informing him that Sidwell’s thugs jumped him and Jenz got away!

THE PLAN TO BLACKMAIL DREW BEGINS TO TAKE SHAPE
Elsewhere, Willow (Katelyn MacMullen) is freaked out that Jack (Chris McKenna) is able to grab her arm and talk! Just then, Nina (Cynthia Watros) shows up. Willow learns her mother hasn’t been injecting Brennan with the paralytic drug. Jack says he can stop Sidwell and Cullum from coming after her and has evidence she can leverage against Drew.
Willow learns, that according to Brennan, Drew misappropriated federal funds and he has the proof, and if that should come to light, Drew would be sent to prison. Nina says Drew won’t risk being sent to prison again, so Willow can stop drugging him.
However, Jack has a plan. He says he’s the only one with the information on Drew. He thinks they should continue to let Cullum and Sidwell believe he’s still in a locked-in state to give him cover. Willow is told as much as she hates continuing to drug Drew, she will only need to do it 1 or 2 more times, to give Jack time to set everything in motion.
So, were you annoyed that Cassius freed Sidwell when he was caught shooting Lucas Jones? Where do you think Sidwell will go? Do you think Joe and Lucas might be potential boyfriends, and what do you think of Jack’s plan? Did Drew really misappropriate federal funds? Weigh-in via the comment section below. But first, check out the scenes between, Nina, Willow and Jack.
Beyond the Gates
‘Beyond the Gates’ Creator Michele Val Jean Reveals Top Three Favorite Storylines She Has Ever Written For, and All From ‘General Hospital’
If there is a story or script from one of your favorite soaps over the last three and a half decades that is most memorable to you, it’s probably because veteran soap writer, Michele Val Jean had something to do with it.
The current creator, head writer and executive producer of CBS daytime’s Beyond the Gates has been razzle dazzling us with some impressive cliffhangers in the infancy of the newest soap opera on the block which debuted back on February 24, 2025. Already in its second season, and recently renewed in a tremendous show of confidence by CBS for seasons three and four, this week its spotlighting the highly-anticipated crossover event when characters from The Young and the Restless arrive at Fairmont Crest airing now through June 12.
Val Jean has tenured history in daytime from: being a script writer for Santa Barbara (and breakdown writer), Port Charles, Generations, and lengthy run a few times at General Hospital where she served as script writer, breakdown writer, and at one time co-head writer of the ABC soap, to being a long-running script writer at The Bold and the Beautiful, to finally landing her very own show as its head writer with Beyond the Gates.

Earlier this week, Michael Fairman TV chatted with Michele at the Toast to Black Excellence event in Los Angeles, featuring cast members of Beyond the Gates and The Young and the Restless as a precursor to their multi-arc crossover event and asked Val Jean what has been her favorite story in soaps she has ever written for. She responded that she had a top three and they all happened to be from her time on General Hospital and in the 90’s.
GENERAL HOSPITAL CLASSIC STORYLINES
Michele revealed her top picks, “Elizabeth’s (Rebecca Herbst) rape, because that was personal, Kevin and Ryan (dual roles played by Jon Lindstrom), and Stone’s (Michael Sutton) death.”
When speaking of getting the opportunity to write for mild-mannered Dr. Kevin Collins and his psycho killer twin, Ryan Chamberlain, Michele explained, “I was always like a true crime person and Claire Labine (ex-head writer, GH) loved the vibe Jon Lindstrom and I has as writing and acting were concerned. Claire said, ‘Go with it. So, she basically let us work out who these characters were and I was like, ‘I finally have my own serial killer!'”

Courtesy/ABC
DOUBLE TROUBLE
“One of the first scenes I wrote for Ryan was in the police interrogation room and Mac Scorpio (John J. York) and Sean Donely (John Reilly) were standing behind him. He was sitting at this table and in his jumpsuit and there was a light shining on him and he started confessing to all these murders. It was like a 7-minute monologue and it went on and on. He had so many murders (piled up). and then at one point, he goes, ‘Wait, a minute!” He got confused about all the women he had murdered and I said ‘I love this character!'”
GH fans will recall Ryan debuted first in 1992, and then Kevin joined the main characters in 1993. Val Jean recalled, “When Kevin came onto the canvas, he was so arrogant. He thought, ‘Oh, I’ll go fix my brother.’ It took Ryan about five minutes to figure out who Kevin was. The next thing you know, Kevin’s in the middle of a mental institution going, ‘I’m not Ryan!’ And, Ryan’s out on a date with Felicia (Kristina Wagner) I think we must have killed Ryan off six times. That was fun!”

PERSONAL VANTAGE POINT
In 1998, Val Jean wrote Elizabeth Webber’s rape storyline. She notably based the controversial and critically acclaimed storyline on her own personal experience with sexual assault.
Michele reflected, “Elizabeth’s rape was really important to me because I was watching the Campus Disco in 1979 (when Luke raped Laura), and I was raped when I was 12-years-old. I know what rape looks like. I wanted to win Tony Geary (Luke) an Emmy because he hadn’t had one since 1983. I also wanted to call a rape a “rape,” and I wanted to heal myself, because back when I grew up on the south side of Chicago in the sixties, you didn’t go to therapy. You pulled yourself up by your bootstraps, and you went on. There was a trial and my rapist went to jail. Once that was over, there was no more talking about it. So, those were my three reasons for doing that story. I managed to do all three, and that was the most personally satisfying.”

Courtesy/ABC
STONE AND ROBIN
Perhaps, there is nothing more iconic and important, than the death of Stone Cates, who tragically dies of AIDS. The episode where he passes away with his girlfriend, a young Robin (Kimberly McCullough) who now has contracted HIV by his side, aired on November 29, 1995. Val Jean had noted on social media that it was both an honor and a heartbreak to write this episode.

BEYOND THE GATES EARLY FAVORITES
Now, Michele is setting new favorites in her repertoire with Beyond the Gates. She revealed that so far, there have been two standouts. The first, the violent altercation on a deserted country road where Martin (Brandon Claybon) fatally struck one of two racist white men with a tire iron to save his grandfather, Vernon Dupree’s (Clifton Davis) life and his own.
“I am most proud of Martin by the side of the road (story), because I didn’t think the CBS network would let me do it, but the network has been so supportive. I took a lot of personal satisfaction from that. I’ve never experienced anything like that! ” Another top pick? I loved the anniversary party when Nicole’s (Daphnée Duplaix) marriage got all blown up!
So, are some of your all-time favorite storylines the ones Michele Val Jean chose? Elizabeth’s Rape, early Kevin/Ryan and Stone’s death on General Hospital? What about the racism storyline centering around Martin Richardson and the bombshell reveal on Beyond the Gates that Ted had an affair with Leslie and a child, which came to light at the anniversary party of Ted and Nicole? General Hospital
‘General Hospital’ Alum Adam J. Harrington Joins the Cast of Prime Video’s Thriller Drama ‘Bishop’
Adam J. Harrington (ex-John Jagger Cates, General Hospital) is one of 10 major casting additions who will have recurring or guest star roles in the highly-anticipated thriller, Bishop to stream on Amazon Prime.

In story, on Bishop, a homicide detective Bishop Graves (Joel Kinnaman) – brilliant, battle-scarred – will put all of his skills to the test in the hunt for an elusive killer targeting San Francisco’s moneyed class. As this increasingly audacious killer develops a devoted following among the city’s powerless, Bishop becomes convinced these murders connect back to SF’s most powerful man, his own father, Lincoln Graves (John Malkovich).
MAJOR LINE-UP
The cast is even more star-studded with Jennifer Jason Leigh as Jillian Graves, Lincoln Graves’ sister, and aunt to Bishop Graves; Jordana Brewster (ex-ATWT and Dallas) as Kat Claiborne, a seasoned inspector at the San Francisco Police Department; Harry Treadaway as Wyatt; and Xavier Samuel as Anthony ‘Ant’ Graves, Bishop Graves younger brother.

JOHN “JAGGER” CATES MURDER STILL SWEPT UNDER THE RUG
As General Hospital fans will recall, it was back on the August 30, 2024, where Harrington’s John Cates was shot twice by mobster Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard). Till this day, no one even mentions the fact, or seemingly knows that Sonny got away with killing a man in cold blood. Will it ever come to light years later in a major way or stay buried in GH history forever?
Harrington first appeared on the ABC soap opera back in February of 2024, when in a shocking recast, he took over the role of Jagger, now going by the name of John and an FBI agent. The part was originally made soap famous by a young Antonio Sabato Jr. from 1992 to 1995.
After Adam wrapped his run, he participated in a livestream chat on You Tube’s Michael Fairman Channel where he opened up about learning it would be the end of the line for John “Jagger’ Cates, and much more. You can check it out below.
No word yet on when Bishop will debut on Prime Video, but Michael Fairman TV will keep you posted.
So, glad to see Adam landing a role in an upcoming thriller which also features so many great actors in the cast? Are you still shocked that Sonny Cortinthos shot and killed John and completely got away with it? Let us know via the comment section below.
