GENERAL HOSPITAL: Finola Hughes Playing Twins Anna and Alex Devane?

A major cliffhanger occurred at the end of Friday’s episode of General Hospital that has fans abuzz!

In the final seconds of the show, the scene switches from Port Charles to London, England and some sort of hospital where a patient is revealed! Who wakes up? Seems to be a sick Anna Devane (Finola Hughes)!

Back in Port Charles, spy “Anna” is trying to get a picnic to happen with Valentin (James Patrick Stuart). However, a jilted Nina (Michelle Stafford) tells Valentin that Anna has been using him and shows him the mangled watch and the bug contained with it.  Now knowing that he was set-up Valentin is livid, and leaves, while Nina sits at the bar with tears streaming down her face.

Later at Kelly’s, Anna calls someone to tell them that Valentin has started to resist her and that the bug is dead.  Next, outside of Kelly’s Valentin comes upon “Anna” who wants to go have this picnic, while Valentin insists they get more intimate.  He would like them to go somewhere to be alone. But “Anna” does not look pleased, but quite nervous.

So, what is going on here? Looks like the speculation may be true.  It would now seem that Finola Hughes is playing dual roles that of twin sisters, Alexandra and Anna Devane. After all, Anna has had memory problems were it came to remembering her past with Valentin.  It now is more than quite possible that it is Alex who Valentin has a thing for, and a past with.

Longtime All My Children fans recall Alex came to Pine Valley and became involved in brothers Dimitri Marick  (Michael Nader) and Edmund Grey (John Callahan) storylines.  We last heard from Alex when she supposedly relocated to Hungary in 2001 along with Dimitri. On the Prospect Park version of the series, it was revealed that Dimitri and Alex had divorced.  Now fans are just waiting for official confirmation on-screen in upcoming episodes of GH of the Devane sisters.

So, what did you think of today’s big reveal?  Excited to see Finola Hughes play dual roles? Comment below!

Most definitely excited to see Finola act the hell outta this material! It’s been terrific fun to watch the different nuances she has brought to Alex so far.

She acted the hell out of her material last year and got robbed at the Emmys!

And, this year, as well, Timmmy. So many actresses were overlooked; Finola, Nancy Grahn and Laura Wright, as lead actress.
As much as I love Gina Tognoni, I am still baffled as to what “ingredient” in her performance was deserving of the Emmy over these ladies. Nothing EMOTIONAL . Well, unless one calls Phyllis’ carnal exploits with Billy emotional. Ha!!

I too was puzzled by Gina Tognoni’s win — her take on Phyllis lost all the humor and mischievousness Michelle Stafford brought to the role.

@Alan.
Hey, Alan….Timmm and I, among others, have been chanting this very litany for how long, now?
You bet, my friend.
It has been my contention all along. As great as Gina is, she has yet to fill Phyllis’s shoes for me.
And, to carry it a bit further, her new Phyllis character completely goes against the grain. For instance, when she accused Chloe “I wouldn’t put it past her”, talking about “who the baby daddy”, as in Bella.
Ummmm. Isn’t that what she did with Daniel? She foisted him off as Danny Romalotti’s baby? It’s one thing for a new actress/actor to bring her or his own nuances to the character; but to completely go to another dimension is a deterrent for me…it sort of makes me dismiss her.
Not my Phyllis.
Nonetheless, that’s beside the point…..which is; she was not soooo fantastic to deserve the accolades….I thought others whose heartfelt scenes brought me to my knees, and more ‘true to life’, were cheated.

Sly…I’m loving the Anna/Alex story. Especially the airport reveal by Emma and Robin, and the “interrogation” scene at PCPD. And unlike some of the other disquise/twins like Ava/Denise is is so much more understated but effective…the twist of her hair, clothes, facial expressions. Wonder if Anna and Alex will work together, sort of, to find out where the deadly stuff is. Hope so since I’ve liked them together so far from what I’ve seen.

Rose – I loved the airport scenes, too!!

Medical Definition of Chimera;

Chimera: In medicine, a person composed of two genetically distinct types of cells. Human chimeras were first discovered with the advent of blood typing when it was found that some people had more than one blood type. Most of them proved to be “blood chimeras” — non-identical twins who shared a blood supply in the uterus. Those who were not twins are thought to have blood cells from a twin that died early in gestation. Twin embryos often share a blood supply in the placenta, allowing blood stem cells to pass from one and settle in the bone marrow of the other. About 8% of non-identical twin pairs are chimeras.

Chimera has to do with twins but Anna and Alax are identical..

I don’t see this story going anywhere near exciting, intruging on the edge..

And– I want the Cassidine that was billed as the devil incarnate, the one Cassidine all feared….
The darkest of the Cassadines that was said to be Valentin.

leave it to tJ&S to royally screw it up into a big YAWN . a Yawn Cassidine..
that is pitiful shameful writing=stinkin bad writing.

Valentin is a whimpering wishing washy hoohummm villain.
Written as a disgrace towards the Cassadines.
Not the devil incarnate but a powder puff marshmallow ((what a shame !!

A goldfish has a harder bite than Valentin ..

((I love Valentin! … but really……..

I hear you about that “Devil Incarnate Cassadine” we were seemingly falsely promised way back when, su! No matter how yummy Valentin may be, he is NOT the character who was previously advertised….another old “bait-and-switch” by the GH showrunners, eh????

Wait for it, suOOOO. For better or worse, his evil’s about to come out Tried to be a changed man…now his hurt and rage toward the non-Anna is going to be the catalyst that sends him over the edge. Me thinkest, anyway. But that kinda makes me sad…I like the vulnerable Valentin. If they turn him dark he’ll probably be exiting at some point when the storyline runs its course. Hope not.

OH NO… @ Rebecca1

yeah.. I think… if the writers had it in them… they would spark turn ignite and run amok.. with how talented Jason Patrick Stuart HOLDS

which.. is probably why I’m not tuning in to “Anna” be it Alex or Anna… doing their damndest to bring justice for Nicholas murder.

JPS.. has all the requisite MUST BE to savor talent dream tantalize ON

which is why I continue to point out.. all the leading men.. and women

Valentin / Kevin / Dante / Griffin / Scotty / Dillon / Aaron / Brad / Lucas / Julian / Ned etc.. etc.. etc…

tell me how… Sonny / Jason / Finn / Michael make it to the front line

i’d like to forefront @su0000 , who was one of the first to mention.. that Jean and Shelley are the snoozefest pairing who need to be run out of town.

I love all the actors you pointed out, Patrick. I’ve seen Dominic Zamprogna (Dante) in other things and he really has great range. I love Dante but the actor can do much more. He’s underutilized in my opinion. Matt Cohen (Griffin)? Gorgeous actor also with great acting chops. They really need to up his game, too. At this point he serves no purpose other than eye candy (which, LOL, I have no problem with. He’s just beautiful). Love Dillon (Robert Palmer Watkins) too! I’d love to see him have more of a role now that Tracy’s gone as they hopefully rebuild the Q family. Lucas? Where IS he!!!!??? Love Julian and so hope he’s not leaving the canvas…I’ve remained loyal to this character (I think you know I love Alexis but I’m buying the evil sister made Julian do it theory because…I want to! :/ ) And, sigh, Ned…gotta have more Ned. Love!

I don’t think that Finn or Michael are forefront. I haven’t taken to Finn. Too quirky without enough substance at this point. I’m a big fan of Michael Easton so I’m hoping they evolve his character to someone I can care about. Michael? They’re wasting Chad Duell. He can act. And he’s got the looks. But they’ve made him so “good” that they desexualized him. I’ve said this before but he’s the only guy on the show who seems to be stuck in perpetual heartbreak…boyhood. He needs to go for Nell and match her fire!

I do believe, su, a true chimera is an illusion; a fantasy, hence the mythical Greek fire-breathing monster; which is the entire substance of the off-the-wall storyline relating to Jake etal.
Human chimeras, and I use the word loosely, are extremely rare….wnem it happens, something is very wrong, mainly because one of the “twins” is a hermaphrodite, in which neither Alex nor Anna is.

PS, su. I must add that a chimara is an oddity….derived from many “parts”….. a facsimile of Dr. Frankenstein’s monster.
….not just as simple as a black and white definition.
Later.

PPS, again, su, LOL.
You got me thinking…..you may have a point.
What if Alex is holding Anna in that London hospital to alter her DNA? Identical twins do share the same genetic makeup, but not really identical. So, if Anna will be infused with a different DNA for nefarious reasons, then, yes, she could become a chimera, artificially.
This borders on SyFy. LOL.

I’m expecting David Hayward to come to Port Charles in the near future. They can rehash their baby’s existence. Now that Vincent Irizarry is no longer on Days, it could be possible. Time will tell.

OMG I WOULD DIE IF DAVID came to PC!!! they could use a devious Doctor in PC! I love that they can use PP characters again!!

THIS is the best answer ever… to bring Anna a love interest

GH squandered Paul. and that Seth Baker

so to bring history … and a total combustion.. because of love .. intrigue… and alive

Vincent Irizarry and Finola Hughes for the winsome twosome

Yeah, bring in more AMC people to GH and confuse the shit out of us AND they steal time from Scotty, Mac, Felicia, Monica, ect!

Too funny!!

Exactly, Timmmbo! I’m especially deadset against “The Irizarry.” I’ve never understood his appeal, and that dates back to his GL “Lujack” days!

I will continue to parade… whatever it takes… to steer clear of :

Sonny / Carly / Jason / Sam / Finn / Hayden / Michael / Nelle

not a single one of them spark… resonate … must watch… have no tune in value

Major cliffhanger? This has been telegraphed for weeks!

Finola has done a great job showing different personality and physical traits – such as the playing with hair – to show she is playing a different character. Plus, she never calls anyone by name.

So well said, Steve. Also, I noticed her mode of dress is different. Perhaps it’s my imagination, but Anna’s usual wardrobe is more ‘subdued’.
Her obvious flirting does go against Anna’s character, as well.

@Shay.
Hey, Shay,
LOL. I think Sally means Alex, not Alexis….not sure, here.

Also, I did answer your query about Nathan’s paternity, and what I think….for what it’s worth.
Remember I said, more oft than not, that Griffin and Nathan were half brothers? Well, there you go…..same father, different mother.
Hmmmm, unless there was a Faison mask involved…who knows?! Some blood tests are in order. LOL.
Later.

Well, as long as Alex doesn’t go “full-tilt tartwear”—ala Alexis—her more flirtatious nature is to be considered just part of her charm!!!!

Oh, I caught her drift, CeeCeeGirl…I meant as long as Finola’s “Alex” doesn’t go all-out Alexis overboard in “trashy-fashion territory” then her version of sexy is a fine way to differentiate her from the more demure, “buttoned-down” Anna! As for GH’s perpetual paternity go-round, I’m thinking a full-hour installment of Maury Povich is warranted—where “everyone gets a DNA test!”–for the granddaddy of all “Who’s Your Daddy?” episodes! It’s long past time we found out exactly who’s who in this too-often insane iteration of indeterminate identities!

@Celia

The show doesn’t seem to “want to go there” with who Nathan’s father is. RP is stuck in holding pattern until KS returns. After that, the plot will probably focus on Maxie.

As for Griffin, we know that Olivia Jerome will eventually return and play into whatever reveal they have planned for who Griffin’s mom is.

Excited to see Finola play twins again, double Finola double the enjoyment of watching her do amazing work on screen. Figured it was Alex who had a past with Valentine and not Anna because his version of what happened did not match the amazing backstory love story Gloria Monty gave us of Anna with Robert way back in 85. I knew the writers would not trash such rich history of a legendary character like Anna Devane for the sake of fitting into this story and I’m so happy that they didn’t. , They just gave Valentine’s history with a Devane to Alex.

I do have some reservations with this story as it unfolds. I would hate for Alex to be made evil because unless now under the mind control of Charlotte Devane, the Alex I know and watch for 2 years on AMC loved her sister and would never do her any harm. Alex actually saved Anna, brought her into her home to treat and help her recover and helped her somewhat regain her memory. Alex would do almost anything for her sister including taking a bullet for her.

Looking forward for this story to unfold and to find out if this person impersonating Anna in PC really is Alex. What really happened when Anna went to see her sister? Is she being help captive and by whom? This story is what makes GH must watch for me, double Finola will make it that much more. As for Valentin I’m loving his scenes with Alex, Finola and James Patrick Steward are amazing on screen. Hope we get more of that too. Wait till he sees there are two Devanes, lucky boy!

I agree, Tina.
Maybe Helena is the one who is “mind controlling” Alexis.

The only things that control the mind of Alexis are her nether regions! (As in when is her next roll in the hay?….) Okay, I suppose you could also toss in those ever-beckoning wine bottles, too. (As in when will her next alcoholic relapse happen?….) In other words, to blame Helena for the multiple shortcomings of this weak-willed woman is truly barking up the wrong tree!

Great post!

Alex Devane is most definitely in Port Charles pretending to be Anna Devane, while Anna is in London in a hospital. Either Alex is keeping Anna out of danger or Alex has been brainwashed AGAIN by someone EVIL!!! Alex would NEVER intentionally hurt her sister Anna. Maybe Charlotte Devane got in cahoots with Cesar Faison and had him brainwash Alex? Or maybe Anna had a blood clot, stroke or heart attack when she went to London to see Alex and she was admitted in the hospital receiving treatment, so both Anna and Alex are working together? I truly hope the writers stay true to Alex and Anna’s history together! Charlotte Devane murdered both their parents in a car explosion along with their half-brother Gabriel Devanes mother who happened to be one of Anna’s nanny’s. I just hope they stay true to Alexandra Devane’s character personality and don’t make her a villain. Agnes Nixon would NEVER stand for that, all characters on All My Children were her “Children!” #AMC #GH

Nice post.

At the time Alexandra Devane was created, Agnes was less involved with AMC. Although she was created on AMC, the link to the originally GH character of Anna makes her more of a hybrid.

The turn of the early 2000’s saw a concerted effort to connect the ABC soaps. A Devane family on AMC, Skye Chandler assumed to be a Quartermaine on GH and the baby switch crossover with OLTL and AMC.

Skye was also on OLTL. Wish Robin Christopher would come back to GH and bring AJ with her!

The best story on daytime in 2017….exceptionally written and perfectly executed…full of mystery and intrigue…classic spy games with lots of twists…great use of the Devane family history from AMC…have to admit JEAN AND SHELLY are doing great work here.

Valentin is the best new character since Robert…with sensational chemistry with Anna and Nina…just give Stuart the lead actor Emmy right now.

Anna has been rebooted from the Duke whining in this story…now we are getting to watch the mesmerizing Alexander work her magic…great material for the gem that is Finola Hughes.

Michelle Stafford is killing it again….finding her footing as Nina.

Stuart, Hughes, Stafford are the new stars of GH.

” Stuart, Hughes, Stafford are the new stars of GH. ”

Absolutely

well… I didn’t see this coming

this explains why I was ??? just not, getting in to , this “Anna” .

her coy ANKLE sprain and batty eyes with Valentin. didn’t buy that for a second

at least Nina and Valentin, now, both know, that something is going on.. and that it was calculated … thereby Nina and Valentin can renew their love and go full throttle on their reign as the first couple of port Charles

oy… I really was like… just not getting in to “Anna” .. and posted as such…. and was ready for the backlash.

I just don’t get in to all the WSB agent stuff, ( perhaps now a story will unfold, that is catching ) … so NOW… with the REAL Anna in that London Hospital.. we can get back to the real drama that serials be

Nina and Valentin are great couple.

Michelle Stafford, James Patrick Stuart, Scarlett Fernandez is soap opera magic.

PS: about Michelle Stafford

I truly do want to prop her… as I’ve remarked… she can now and forever let go her top draw Phyllis @ Y&R

it has taken her character this long. no matter… as Michelle Stafford is once again back on track…. fired up.

let’s hope so… as I don’t want her playing 2nd banana to any one. as soon as she and Valentin married… GH had all the opportunity to give Nina character a steely resolve and FIGHT w/Valentin to power house GH, together.

at least … this now gives Finola as the real Anna to fire up her leading lady status. LOL… I was like… why all this “anna / alex ” this way ? whew

nevertheless… this will be the real deal time.. to see … what.. Jean and Shelley will do with high caliber talent. writings skills will be minded by the best fans… @Michaelfairmansoaps.com

Agree with all of this except the part about Stafford. Ick! I cannot stand this character.

Here, here, Sally! I can trace the moment of my utmost disgust with this show directly to the arrival of this particular character and the actress who portrays her….Even though the disenchantment had been building with the immense doubling-down of other previously uninspired players like the sugary Sabs, avaricious Ava and gag-worthy Julian, as well as certain OLTL alumni, I found Stafford and her Nina to be the absolute pinnacle of unnecessary and annoying casting of former big name soapsters simply for the sake of saying they were on the GH canvas, and for no other compelling and logical reason whatsoever as they applied to making the show a better and more interesting one. Needless to say, my viewership dropped with far greater frequency as we were subjected to this completely useless creature, particularly after her initial foray into Port Charles was such an unmitigated flop. To see that she still remains after numerous unsuccessful attempts at reinvention, only fuels more resentment of her continued presence, and might I add, I now feel the same contempt for the character of Hayden, since the showrunners used the identical formula for foisting her upon the GH audience, too.

Like your enthusiasm/your post!

100%. appreciate the positive energy that posts should

naysay isn’t negative… it’s a perspective

funny how… our intent may go unfounded… TPTB

The Powers that BE

so I will direct all my misgivings … @Frank, Jean, and Shelley

Hey Patrick…For me there’s a difference between perspective and some posters who are always negative…they complain constantly and rarely (if at all) write anything positive. Gets tedious. Nice to read some who are enthusiastic or engaged…like a book club…there’s an exchange of ideas, opinions, interpretations, etc which makes the club interesting and enhances the experience. If the “readers” were always complaining…either they’re reading the same book that they obviously are not enjoying or they just don’t like reading. 🙂

JPS is magnificent!

I am so sick of GH being interrupted…two times this week we missed the first half…so pissed.

I no longer depend on the network or local station to watch gh , thank the universe for Hulu and iTunes because the stations love interrupting shows for weather updates or any stupid mess trump now has to say .

I am tired of the interruptions also as these Washington stories will go on and on. Most people have cable, satellite or a Roku so they can get the DC scoop.

Look out next week, a new FBI guy will be announced! WTF, watch CNN or FOX for this info! Leave our soaps alone!

Forget CNN…you’ll find more fictional storylines there than on GH, Timmmbo! (And sadly, they are just as lame, predictable, and unimaginative as the latter….)

Yeah, with all the different news/cable networks, I don’t know why these interruptions have to disrupt the viewing pleasure of our soaps…Bah!!

Yes, love it!!! Thanks for bringing an AMC character on..love these nods to soap history.

I mentione Anna was acting different and knew she was a fake…

Not all fans will understand the storyline but I think it’s great. I remember when Anna returned from the dead in Pine Valley and ran into Robin when Robin was visiting Edmund. It was a great scene, and interesting to see Finola playing the twins on AMC. I’m looking forward to it. Hopefully more AMC characters will appear in Port Charles, like Marian Colby Chandler.

@Joe…I’m all for any plot device that enables the spectacular Finola Hughes to have a greater presence on the GH canvas, but that doesn’t necessarily mean that I care to see the citizens of Pine Valley follow her Alex(?) en masse to Port Charles. We’ve already done these casting stunts to death with OLTL players, and they only served to dilute the nature of “General Hospital”…that’s the name of THIS soap, remember???

So, Gran is wrong Shay….Anna is in London. LOL
As to Valentin’s less than fierce-self; I do think the wounded puppy will soon show his lupine fangs.
The monster returns!!!!

I agree Sweet Shay. Enough of the other soap characters! Put the F…..g soaps online if you want a reboot! Concentrate on the Q’s!

I don’t know if you watched AMC, Shay; but, the nurse called Anna Mrs. Marick ( as in Dimitri)….. This guy got around, as he was married to Erica Kane, as well, living in a makeshift ‘casle’, much like Wyndemere. The similarities are too coincidental.
The plot thickens—he was Hungarian, wasn’t he? Is he anybody’s father? All in the family. Transylvania, anyone?
Are all hospitals in London as dark and scary? I’d not like to be a patient there!!
This is why my grandmother mentioned Hungary. Much of the Devane events happened in Hungary ( behind the scenes?). Can’t make heads or tails of this, Shay. I was about 12 or 13. I was just awed by the splendor that was Susan Lucci and her dazzling wardrobe. LOL

Right on, Timmmster! It’s quite one thing for GH to raise Cassadines from the dead…but endless former characters from defunct ABC soaps? I think NOT!

What is Irizzary’s appeal, you ask, lovely Shay? I guess it must be a personal attraction.
Pour moi? Il est tres magnifique!!! Comment ca se dit? Come si dice? To each his own? LOL.
For instance, everyone drools over Jason Thompson, or Peter Bergman, or Daniel Goddard, to name a couple…..Well, I find them not one bit heart-stopping….know what I mean? Sure you do!!!! LOL.
Now, Shay, we both do not languish away over Julian Jerome, the character….but, I find William an exquisite proponent of the male anatomy. Yeees!!

I understand why you’d like to see your AMC characters on GH, Joe. Soaps have been in a state of flux since the genre’s “fall.” I think the producers/execs, etc are feeling out the new territory…trying to cross over some characters or storylines and gauge audience reaction.

Some suggest that they’d like to see Roger Howarth become Todd once again. I LOVED Todd Manning…just not sure if he’d be the same in this different environment. Without Vicki, Blair, etc the dynamics and his role would be changed. Tricky…

At the same time, they’re not using the vets that we have enough; all their decisions ride on what they think is going to sell the most with the majority of viewers (and advertisers). I think, though, as long as GH remains on the air, the possibilities to have our AMC (which I didn’t watch) and OLTL characters make at least an appearance every now and then or be involved in a story exists. That’s something that could be fun…

Come back, Anna!

I was unaware Anna had a twin sister — but I knew the Anna that was flirting with Valentin wasn’t Anna Devane— Normally I am not a fan of the evil twin story line– been done to death but Ms Hughes is doing such a masterful job performing Alex pretending to be Anna I am enjoying the story for the fact alone— whenever Alex comes across a bit of information about Anna that she did not realize FH with just her eyes makes you see Alex’s mind racing to think of way to cover up the fact she had no idea what this person was talking about. Hopefully if there is any justice playing twins will get FH a outstanding lead actress Emmy next year.

I suggested many weeks ago that unbeknownst to Valentin (and Anna) that he’d had that experience (that Anna couldn’t remember) with her twin. Predictable…but, even so, well done. Looking forward to the story which will also, obviously, be the catalyst that sets off the dangerous side of Valentin we’d heard about.

Anything that gives us twice the air time for Finola is a winner!

Surely no one was surprised by this. Not at all subtle

I am excited to see Finola Hughes play dual roles. I’ve loved watching how, as the fake Anna, she has pumped up the sex appeal. She is one of the most alluring actors on all of daytime and a brilliant actor as well. Nobody plays subtext like Finola. Now it’s up to the writers to make this all feasible. Please writers – work it all out before you put it on the screen. Otherwise we’ll just be getting more stalled or dropped stories, more inconsistencies which will have to be re-written or explained away in the future and more frustration. Meanwhile, I will enjoy watching Finola’s performances as the plot unfolds.

These type of reveals are less than exciting for most fans I know. In fact it chases viewers away. It’s as if they don’t want the excitement to be in telling the story itself and cluing the audience into surprises and reveals for the characters while keeping the characters themselves in the dark. There used to be excitement in that on Classic GH then came Guza who loved to shock us (and follow through with the OOC behavior being true) and more recently, Ron Carlivati came around and created Fuke (Faison in a Duke mask) and revealed his identity a couple months later while shocking audiences with behavior that was completely OOC for Duke, such as killing. Then I heard there was a similar thing with Faison playing in a Luke mask although I had given up watching the show. This latest thing is just a string in a long line of less than interesting storytelling. To be sure, I’m not watching because things have gone downhill since early 2016 on this show when it seemed to be turning around enough for me to take notice.

I miss RC ..
I believe he was writing Anna#2 would not be twin but a clone .. 🙂

That would indeed be more exciting than another run-of-the-mill evil twin ..
((I’d bet all the soaps have three or more of the standard good-bad twin story))

And, that is why I see nothing special or exciting in just another twin story that has been dusted off and put back into use..

It would take a miracle for all the writers stuck in the 80’s to actually come up with something new and different and 21st century techy modern, sigh ..

yup yuppers.. RC’s Anna#2 would be a clone….. And. I would like that !

And if RC was writing this little Charlotte would be Helena’s clone—and not Lulu’s and Stravos test tube baby—and she should be an evil little brat– like in the old movie the “Bad Seed” — can you see it now with her sweet little angel face telling Valentin ‘ Yes papa, I killed the puppy, he wasn’t very nice to me–so he had to go”— then she gives him a creepy Helena grin— ahh yes, the good old days of RC

hi Mary SF ..
yes!!!
Now, that would be good.. Charlotte a clone via Helena.
I would not fall asleep or FF …

But- the Queens of Snooze couldn’t write anything suspenseful, not even if a miracle came upon them to do so.

The clone thing would be a direct ripoff of Guiding Light.

Ron started out all gang busters but in the end gave us Fluke and Denise Demuccio. It was time for a change. That doesn’t mean we need to stay with these two forever, either.

I agree with your theory, su……much more eventful, mystical, interesting, and original. Love it!!

I like this nod to history! I do hope it is revealed that Alexsndra is not an evil person…but is doing this to help Anna and bring Valentin down. Im not sure I trust any soap writer to tell a sophisticated layered story like that, but I am along for the ride. It gives us more Finola, genuine suspense, and an old school style mystery.

For instance….maybe Alex knew Anna was battling her cancer and that she would not be strong enough to fight whatever needed to be fought. So…she arranged for Anna to be in that clinic receiving the best csre possible…while she herself takes on Valentin. Girl power! Sisters in arms! Something unpredictable other than the good vs. evil doppleganger.

I really like that, Jenny…better than the daily fare of uninteresting imbrogli, by namely, one Sonny Corinthos and all his bag of tricks.
Anna and Alex must have been in contact as soon as it was known that Valentin, the presumed “Dauphin” of Darkness was in town.
This makes so much sense. I suppose the switch could have happened soon after Anna was diagnosed. Alex had Anna wisked away by a trusted party?
Very interesting…..
Later, Jenny.

“Dauphin of Darkness!!!!” I love it, CeeCeeGirl! Excellent use of alliteration!

Thank you, my love. I just knew you’d notice!!!!

I’m more and more impressed with Finola Hughes lately as she has, with what seems effortlessly to me, moved through so many “moods and personalities” that Anna has been experiencing since coming back to Port Charles. Especially since her confrontation with Olivia Jerome in GH’s basement with Griffin. And if she is Anna’s twin, she’s doing a wonderful, but subtle job, of playing the role. I know Valantin’s built to be suspicious, so why he hasn’t figured out something is wrong yet without the help of finding there was a recorder on the watch?

Hey Rose…I just think he was so smitten with Anna…so fixated on her from his past…his passion for her followed by his hurt and betrayal…that he was blinded by his conflicting emotions. Also, if it was indeed Alex that he had that affair with and who turned against him…did he ever know Anna? Was it always her twin? Did he know both of them? Even Andre, Jordan and Griffin don’t suspect anything which I think is more odd than Valentin not noticing. She’s completely out of character…she went from warm and empathetic to cold, biting and abrupt. But without knowing she has a twin…not sure if any of them know…I guess they just thought she was in a mood… 🙂

Rebecca1…I agree with what you are saying. Am liking this story line, and have decided to not over think it. Just go with the flow. I never was familiar with Alex when she was on AMC, but I am liking her wardrobe. But then Finola looks good and classy in anything. Love how Anna has broken free of the sedatives. This is true Anna. Just wish she didn’t have to repeat another secret clinic experience. Have to admit there is a fire/chemistry between Alex and Valantin that I haven’t seen with Anna have before. And when it comes to Andre, Griffin, Valantin and Jordan not noticing the difference in her demeanor? Well what can you say…Duh…because many of the viewers did.

I’m loving it, clearly they wanted us to know because I don’t understand why Alex has been a little careless in certain occasions like. She’s not only a spy but a doctor too so if she’s clearly impersonating Anna she should know bout Anna’s medical condition and had . But I’m prob over thinking it let’s have the story play out before I put my two cents. I hope there’s more Devine around .

I hope there’s more Devane relatives around.

Hope her nephew Aidan comes to visit his Auntie Anna aka Tigger as his mom use to call her. I would love for GH to give Anna real family like AMC did.

Well Anna’s medical condition was a fairly recent development and not well known– so I don’t think Alex knew about it, but as soon as she found out about she phoned and ordered the procedure Anna needed which is why we saw Anna in a hospital —

Finola Hughes is and always has been a marvelous actor. I’m overjoyed that she is once again being given a front burner storyline. I’ve been a major fan of hers since she first appeared on GH in the 80s. Her chemistry with James Patrick Stuart is pretty amazing. I love this story. And kudos also to Michelle Stafford for again reminding us all how fabulous she is. This is some juicy stuff! Long live General Hospital!!

Ohhh, yeah!!!!! Michelle Stafford rules, Jason!!!!

HAPPY MOTHER’S DAY, to all you wonderful mothers out there!!

Has anyone seen obbrecht since she gave Anna the info? Maybe it is Leisl acting as Anna again and maybe it was her back in the day too– acting as Anna and maybe Nathan is Valentin’s son?

if only Griffin turns out to be her son…

I think Griffin may be Alex’s son….but, there were so many “switcheroos” between the twins, that is, when ‘auntie’ Charlotte played havoc with the Devane sisters’ and brother’s minds, that the confusion abounded. Perhaps, it is carried on to GH and we may get it straightened out . May, is the key word here.
So, yeah, Griffin could be Anna’s or Alex’s.
Good call, Allen.

Orrrr….maybe Nathan is a real Devane, and that’s why Dr. O. snatched him and called him her own???? Given Liesl’s historically-unmitigated contempt for Anna, what if she took her son/nephew(?) to exact revenge on the Devane clan, for whom her beloved Faison was so enchanted? I know, CeeCeeGirl…it’s convoluted and thinking outside the box, but it certainly wouldn’t be the first time the GH writers pitched a storyline out of left-field…perhaps the “evil daddy” meme was simply a smokescreen cleverly concocted by Obrecht to conceal her own misdeeds, and as thus, hiding Nathan “in plain sight” with her “Swiss Sis” was merely a device for Liesl to obtain her own sick jollies. However….I hope not!

Thoroughly enjoying Ms. Hughes in her dual role. Anything that brings her front and center is a win for GH fans! She and James Patrick Stuart are fabulous together, as both have subtly adjusted their on-screen rapport to accommodate the deception. Their chemistry as Alex and Valentin is MUCH different than their chemistry when Valentin is playing off the real, more vulnerable, Anna. This is the mark of superb actors and I hope their “dance” continues long-term, though only with Anna do I believe that Valentin shows his heart. Can’t wait until he becomes aware of the con.

Best storyline on GH in a long, long time! Especially fulfilling for FH fans because FH’s Anna NEVER got justice for Duke, nor did Anna star in the Olivia storyline, as she should have.

I am really hoping that after the fails of late the writers keep this front burner and coherent and riveting. Remember Hayden/Liz? What a total disappointment! I mean, what the hell ever happened to Hayden’s mom? She appeared one day for a supposed new arc, and was never seen or mentioned again? Or Nelle/Carly? Was theirs the worst reveal in recent GH history? Gotta respect Chloe Lanier for still trying to “sell” Nelle after that disaster! Or Paul, with the unbelievable sacrifice of the wonderful Richard Burgi who was, IMO, a real “get” for the show? Three MAJOR story disasters in a row.

In other words, writers, I am into this story. Please don’t blow this one too!

See this is what I mean, you bring up stories that were just dropped and now Frank wants to roll out more of his old favorites from AMC and OLTL. STOP IT!

Well, my Timmmy; if TPTB have their way, there’s a plethora of characters who may very well appear to satisfy the Devane/Marick/Cassadine feeding frenzy….it all goes hand in hand.
I don’t know how I feel about that.
But, I am sooo detached from all things Franco/Jason/Jake/scarecrow idiocy.

And, oh, oh, oh….another ‘mystery’ popped up…..Alex’s chimera-chain around her neck; now in Valentin’s hands. LOL.
Pethaps the chimera ‘spirit’ does connect them all, as it is suggested.
Is this another goose chase? I seem to remember a similar ‘lark’ ( pardon the pun), chasing after the Nyad statue. Fanciful and trivial storyline, albeit I can’t say I do not enjoy the pursuit, yet. Ha!

What’s going on now is tedious and just plain boring. And wasn’t that one-day “adventure” filled with the most amateurish setting–the scarecrow, etc? Wow! Digging in the bottom of the barrel these days it seems.

Hi Nancy ..
Jean & Shelly are– The Queens of Snooze ..

It will not get better, they are close to being story tapped-out..

Hey, Nancy! Hope all’s well!

Funny, as far as the soaps, how differently we all feel. I actually think the show’s been really good on many levels. And I’m loving the Anna/Alex/Valentin arc. It hearkens back to the ol’ days of GH and seems to involve a lot of the cast. Anna, Valentin, Nina, Franco, Jake, Liz, Sam, Helena, Jason…all ties to the camera (sp?).

hahahaha…not camera! “Chimera” ?

Hey there, Rebecca–all’s well–thanks so much. Hope all ok with you, also.
I, too, love it when a lot of the cast is involved–but, unfortunately, the integration of the story lines leaves so very much to be desired–and, importantly, the stories are often a confusing mishmash–violating GH history and lacking in so many areas, mainly character development and motivation, denying viewers emotional involvement.
Jane Elliot in that last interview said it well when she said that there are “episodes” now rather than real storytelling. Apt description on how soaps have devolved.

Hmmmm…interesting analysis! I don’t know…maybe we experience soaps differently now then we did 10, 20 years ago. We were younger…and so were they! Our loyalty to characters we knew so well are older older, retired, passed or just not the center anymore…couples, friends, families just memories. No show could sustain a similar momentum for 40, 50 years. Shows today don’t last past a season! I’m just going with the current flow because it’s never going to be the GH of yore. Different times, different budgets, actors retired, moved on or passed and soaps with no guarantee of renewal. As long as there are still some ties to the past, some vets still on and some sort of continuity, I’m good. I actually think this current story, tying so many different characters together is intriguing. As for character development, I think they’ve done a good job with the format and the juggling of so many stories/characters. I get a sense of who Valentin was and is because of his past, same with Nina and Nell. The ones they still haven’t invested enough in are Griffin and Finn…Finn is still too silly and quirky and Griffin is just “there.” They REALLY need to up his story and background!

Still, all in all I’m happy with the show. I’d miss it if it went poof! (lol…such a simple word and yet so aplty describes what happened to OLTL and AMC!)

‘General Hospital’s’ Steve Burton Shares Reaction to His Lead Actor Daytime Emmy Nomination, ‘It Was to Honor Leslie Charleson’

The 53rd Annual Daytime Emmy Award nominations kicked-off on Monday with the announcements of four major categories including, Outstanding Lead Performer in a Daytime Drama Series — Actor, and among the nominees is General Hospital’s Steve Burton (Jason Morgan).

Burton is already a two-time Daytime Emmy winner in the Supporting Actor category for his roles as GH’s Jason and his turn as Dylan McAvoy on Y&R. However, Steve is yet to win in the Lead Actor category and he has received 11 nominations along the way in his daytime career.

Following the reveal that he is a 2026 Daytime Emmy nominee, he and his GH co-star, podcast co-host and comedy show partner, Bradford Anderson (Spinelli) taped a special edition of their That’s Awesome podcast just featuring Burton’s reaction to the news.

FOR LESLIE CHARLESON

Steve expressed, “I know it’s such a cliche to say, ‘I’m just so honored to be nominated.’ But truly, I’m so grateful to be nominated, so grateful to just be on the show off and on for 30 plus years and to be nominated with the guys in my category. Just to get the opportunity. Frank (Valentini, executive producer, GH) texted me right away. I was just like, ‘Thank you for the opportunity to get to do what I do.'”

Taking in the moment, Burton thanked those who helped him select the material for his nominated reel. “Unless you win, you don’t get to say things. So. I’m going just say a few things: Elizabeth Korte (co-head writer, GH) helped me a lot with the material, (as did) Michelle Henry, who’s a producer on the show, Laura Wright (Carly, GH), and then my wife Michelle (Lundstrom). I believe it was Jill Phelps who told me that when A Martinez felt like he had a great show or great scenes, he would mark it down. So, when Emmy time comes, you have all the show numbers written down, and you don’t have to think about it, because that’s half the battle (finding the material).

Burton explained how meaningful this nomination is for him, because of playing the scenes of Jason losing Monica, and his closeness with the late, great Leslie Charleson.

“The nomination’s an amazing thing, and it’s beautiful, but really it’s to honor Leslie Charleson. A lot of my material was because of her, and how I started on the show as a Quartermaine, it just means a ton,” shared Burton. “Maurice Benard (Sonny, GH) has obviously has been instrumental, and I’ve said it from day one and I’ll shout it from the rooftops. If it wasn’t for him, I wouldn’t be here, and to be working with the people that we work with is incredible.”

SHOULD JOHN OLIVER BE NAMED HOST OF THE DAYTIME EMMYS?

During the end of his conversation with Anderson, Steve suggested that the host of the Daytime Emmy should be Last Week Tonight’s John Oliver, who recently guest starred as the head of the WSB named Z on General Hospital, and is soon to show up on Days of Our Lives in a mystery role in August.

Thus far, the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences has not revealed their host for the upcoming ceremony to be held on October 30 in a venue to be named in Hollywood, California.

You can watch Steve sharing his reaction to receiving his 2026 Lead Actor Daytime Emmy nomination below on a special segment on the That’s Awesome podcast.

Now let us know, are you glad that Steve chose scenes surrounding Jason mourning the loss of the woman that raised him, Monica Quartermaine for his Emmy reel? What do you think of John Oliver as a suggestion to host the Daytime Emmys? Weigh-in via the comment section below.

GENERAL HOSPITAL: Jason Reconnects with Danny; Tristan Roberts Arrives in Port Charles, Lots of Nods to #16

Published

General Hospital’s 16,000th episode was packed with little reminders through points in today’s script that the ABC daytime drama series has set another milestone and it paved the way for the return of fan favorite and newly nominated Daytime Emmy Lead Actor nominee Steve Burton (Jason Morgan). The 16,000th episode also introduced viewers to the new surgeon in Port Charles Dr. Tristan Roberts played by Dean Geyer.

Here are the key takeaways and what went down on the July 13 episode: Tristan and Jason are seated next to each other on a plane heading to Port Charles. Throughout the flight, a beaten up Jason has flashbacks to being thrown into, and being held captive in a cell and tortured. It appears Jason is suffering from some form of PTSD from what he was put through after being dragged out of Port Charles by the WSB months ago.

As the plane prepares to land, Tristan tells Jason there would be a car waiting for him once they land and to enjoy the rest of his life. Later, Tristan arrives at the nurses and doctors hub at GH and approaches Elizabeth (Rebecca Herbst). He tells her his name and that he is the new surgeon on staff.

A REUNION PLUS A HEAD NURSE DEFENDS SONNY

Meanwhile, at the end of the episode, Jason is outside the Quartermaine boathouse looking bewildered when he runs into Danny (Asher Antonyzyn), who is so thrilled to see his father, and the two hugs each other as tears are shed.

Elsewhere, Elizabeth tells Sonny (Maurice Benard) that he thinks its a great idea for him to get the 16th seat on the hospital board, but when it comes times to convince Tracy Quartermaine (Jane Elliot) of that, things go awry when Tracy, Laura and Sonny try to work things out. After Tracy launches into Sonny about killing Alan and Monica’s son AJ, Sonny walks away dejected.

Next, Sonny runs into Elizabeth, where he informs her what happened with Tracy. So what’s a head nurse to do? Elizabeth marches into the conference room and reminds Tracy of all the different donations and ways Sonny has contributed to the hospital from the Stone Cates AIDS wing, to the Michael Corinthos Center for Pediatric Head Injuries as well as his constant support each year for the GH Nurses’ Ball.

WSB WAR SCARS

Then, in one of the best parts for longtime fans of the series, Elizabeth talks about her legendary grandparents, Audrey and Steve Hardy and she tells Tracy they would have wanted Sonny to have a seat on the board for all the good that he has done for the hospital. After Elizabeth states Sonny’s case, things took a turn and Tracy and Sonny wound up shaking hands as Sonny is board member #16.

In the how great was it to see Anna (Finola Hughes) and Valentin (James Patrick Stuart) together scenes department, the pick-up of last Friday’s cliffhanger is played out as the two former lovers fill each other in on what has gone down in their lives in the last several months including Valentin admitting he had been living in Carly’s attic, and Anna realizing she was kidnapped by Cullum, Sidwell and Cassius Faison. During their conversation, Anna sees the hallucination of Peter August (Wes Ramsey) right while Valentin is standing there.

Later Anna was on her way to saying goodbye to Valentin, when the two share an emotional hug. After Valentin made his exit, Peter reappeared and warned Anna to not let Valentin distract her because she has important work to do. Anna answers, “I know.”

So, what did you think of General Hospital’s 16,000 episode? What do you think is wrong with Jason? What is the important “work” that Anna has to do? Were you glad to see Sonny get a seat on the hospital board, or not so much. Weigh-in via the comment section. But first, check out the scenes on Jason and Tristan’s long flight to Port Charles.
