‘General Hospital’ Exec Prod Frank Valentini Promises, ‘Big Plans Going Into This New Season’
On Wednesday, General Hospital marked its 63rd anniversary having premiered back on April 1, 1963. The series holds a record 18 wins for the Outstanding Daytime Drama at the Daytime Emmy Awards.
The soap opera’s executive producer, Frank Valentini who has steered the ship in Port Charles for 14 years, took to his account on X to thank the viewers for their unwavering support and their love of the show.
In addition, Valentini teased that as their new season begins, there are major plans in the works. That is good news to GH fans who have been all-in on the recent string of episodes which saw Jason’s (Steve Burton) exit from Port Charles, Marco’s (Adrian Anchondo) death, and the reveal that Ryan Paevey is actually playing Cassius Faison and not Nathan West.

Valentini expressed, “I would like to take a moment and thank all of the fans who have helped General Hospital reach its 63rd Anniversary. Today is a very special day and celebrating it with all of you means the world to us. We have big plans going into this new season. Stay tuned.”
After One Life to Live (where he also served as EP) was canceled by ABC, Valentini was brought over to General Hospital in early 2012, with his first GH episode airing on February 1, 2012. He had replaced Jill Farren Phelps who held the EP position at the time
In recent weeks, General Hospital has gained traction with its audience and for 12 out of 13 consecutive weeks has been clocking in with over 2 million eyeballs.
So, what big plans to you think GH has in mind for its viewers in their new season? Who and what do you hope to see front and center stage? Let us know via the comment section.
I loved pesky Pascal’s breakdown over Marco. Lucus has a new card to play.
What is up with Pascal? I think he was really in love with Marco and I think he’s treating Lucas like a pile of garbage
I had suspected for a while that Pascal had “feelings” for Marco and was extremely jealous of Lucas’ relationship with him. But I’ll admit I didn’t expect that full on meltdown today.
Ironically, Pascal is every bit as delusional in his blaming of Lucas, as Sidwell is in his blaming of Sonny. Neither of them seem to grasp the reality that their own co-conspirator in the Legion of Dumb, Double Agent Cullum, is the one who murdered Marco.
On the other horn, Lucas has put the facts of Marco’s death together and knows Cullum did it – and has to deal with his own guikt over saving the bastard’s life while Marco was dying two doors down the hall in the hospital.
I don’t know how Lucas is going to keep living at Wyndemere without bringing both Pascal and Sidwell up to speed on who took Marco away from all of them.
Pascal told Cullum about Marco, so it’s his fault that Marco is dead. Even if Lucas convinced Marco to do the right thing, Cullum wouldn’t have known if Pascal didn’t blab. The guilt is getting to him.
I mean, it was kind of obvious that Pascal was in love with Marcos. Even Sidwell knew it.
Ya think?
Yay! I read an article that said all soaps are gaining while primetime and other genres are struggling. Now it seems the shoe is on the other foot.
So happy GH is on a positive ratings and creative streak! May it continue!!
Amen to that…
General Hospital is just the best soap on TV right now and I love the entire cast!!!! Congratulations!
Agree 100% It’s amazing how under Valentini’s leadership, a soap can flourish. I know in the past people have complained, but right now, with this writing team, every day is can’t miss viewing. There never seems to be a slow day on GH.
Totally it’s just the best I love all the stories except the Molly endro whatever but love Cody. Other that that, im glued to my tv
If you or a loved one suffered with endometriosis you’d appreciate GH covering the disease as they do often with relative medical issues.
Good point, Sue. In addition to that, I appreciate the sweet romance that is transpiring between Molly and Cody.
A storyline that raises awareness and helps other women in similar situations is a good thing.
No offence, but this is becoming the Days of Our Lives equivalent of “the plan to save DAYS“. It’s the same song and dance we’ve been told every single year since the sixtieth anniversary.
Unlike when DAYS needed saving (a move to streaming doesn’t really qualify) GH ratings have been up for steady period and it arguably can’t-miss tv
To each their own, I suppose (and this is not me defending DAYS, either).
You lost me at,” No offense.”
I predict someone is going to have a tantrum.
OK. Thanks for letting me know!
I’d love to see Erika Slezak come back for another arc.
I wouldn’t be surprised if she shows up at the Q’s for a a thanksgiving debacle later this year.
I’m sure that’s simmering on the back burner, I’m sure she’ll come back. She’s the reason I started watching GH again, and I’m very grateful that I did.
I’ve been watching ABC soaps since 1968. I loved seeing Erika Slezak on GH. For the Anniversary, I would like to see other ABC from the past on GH.
Keep up the great work❣️
Erika is my favorite daytime actress. Did you ever see Gillian Spencer as Viki and Niki?
He needs to go
Nah, tune in for a week to Y&R. You’ll change your tune. Y&R is so bad, so boring. GH right now on blazing, while Y&R has fallen asleep.
Ain’t that the truth!
Why do folks write such things? Is it just a reflex? General Hospital has been rocking it, and ratings are up. Why does Frank need to go? Be specific.
What’s going on with Anna Devane? It seems like she’s been forgotten. Anna’s an important character in the history of the show. I feel she deserves better than just to be put on ice like this.
well, we don’t know why she left and that’s what they need to tell us.
No they don’t.
So True. Frank needs to get Finola back ASAP. Genie needs to.be released from Sonnyville too. Please dont put her with Ezra. Get Elizabeth a decent love interest please. A few things he can fix
Finola quietly let her contract expire. She’s likely taking a few months off.
Omg I wanna know what’s going on with Anna too, what’s going on with Finola Hughes? she’s no longer in the closing credits on Fridays, and no real follow up with the character, only Emma seems to care about her grandmother and its frustrating seeing Felicia treat Emma like an 8 yo and shoot down any attempt when Emma brings up Anna..Also on another note, when Laura said she would check with Robert for his WSB connection to see where Jason could be, has Laura forgotten there’s also Frisco who might of bee iced out of the WSB but I’m sure he still also has contact and doesn’t;t Laura also know Annie Donely who if I remember is a WSB agent? wish they bring her in.
Laura and Frisco never really crossed paths. She was gone from PC when he first came on the scene in the 80s. By the time she returned in the 90s, he was mostly gone.
My Fuzzy Devil Memory isn’t recalling all the details, but weren’t Luke & Laura part of the whole “Aztec Treasure” story with Frisco & Felicia back in the early 80s?
I’m no saint, but I do recall Luke playing a roll there but no memory of Laura. Regardless, if Laura wanted Frisco’s help, she’d go through Felicia or Robert.
After Laura’s famous return from the dead at the mayor’s mansion in 83, she made sporadic guest appearances until her permanent return with Luke in 93. The Aztec storyline involved Frisco, Felicia, Sean Donnelly and Robert and occurred in 84-85. Luke became involved but he mistrusted Robert’s WSB friend, Sean. So to make a short story long, Laura really didn’t cross paths with Frisco.
Wrong. Luke & Laura were close with Mariah (Felicia’s grandmother) and lived on her ranch with her. When the Aztec treasure storyline climaxed in the Fall of 1984 it took Frisco, Felicia, Robert, Holly and Sean to Texas and on location with some great shoots. Luke and Laura were involved in that storyline. Genie had a terrible perm at that time. This was when it was announced that Laura was pregnant (that baby would end up being Lucky) introduced on camera in 1993. Luke and Laura met Frisco and Felicia then.
Damn. Pascal really and I mean really wanted to bottom for Marco!
Lmao he isn’t the only lmao
Stop that!
Oh dear God.
Ha ha! I mean, right?
Pascal’s gone all Mrs Danvers on Lucas.
Jason must return. He left once for Y&R. I started watching that. He left quickly. Back to Gh best actor interesting role
We want Diane back.
Watching (Sonny) podcast on YouTube . He said Jason will return in June.
The writing has greatly improved the last several months, in particular for Van Hansis (Lucas), and Kelly Thiebaud (Britt). The veterans always bring their A game and the young adults and teens are extremely talented. Keep it up GH…
Van Hansis’ acting made me cry again. His eyes look bloodshot when he was talking to Sidwell. He is VERY believable in this role. I hope nobody is thinking of ending his storyline as well.
Omgosh hes so good I love him
I think that might really be his don
Marco might be his son
I hope Frank Valentini plans to find a way to bring Marco back it will be ratings gold.
The role of Conor is being played today by Monique.
Ha!
Ha! ha! I had to think about that for a second before I caught your reference.
Does anyone know what’s up with Kirsten Storms? She hasn’t been on much since Maxie woke from the coma and she wasn’t on the closing credits Friday. I hope she’s not leaving GH!
Somewhere there was a mentioned that she taped for a week in January (and all those episodes have aired). Supposedly, she’ll be back on set this month for episodes airing in May – but nothing was announced.
Wouldn’t worry about the contract situation. Even if she’s recurring, in recent times, GH has shown they will center story on non-contract performers (i.e. Lucas these past few weeks).
Hoping the plans are as big as hyped . Plots have been so predictable. I knew Nathan was a fraud on day 1 etc. and storylines drag out so long anymore. I have been a loyal follower of GH, AMC & One Life since I was a teenager (now 60’s) so excited to see some freshness . ❤️ GH
Think they should bring Jason back and have a romance should continue Abd have Carly and sonny get back together have Jence Sitwell torture Ross Cullum the WSB agent
Drew goes back to normal and goes after Sitwell .,Jack bernnan gets demoted
Sonny has a shoot out with Sitwell and fight
Cody and Molly get married.
Anna is back in port Charles
How about we get Emme back to play Lulu, cannot stand this one. Did she attend ANY acting school? She was ok playing Babe I guess, but she’s ALL WRONG FOR GH.
Wow. I so disagree. Alexa Havens has nailed the part of Lulu. She is a strong actress.
You’re probably gonna have a hard time finding many to agree with you on that.
Alexa Havins, along with Van Hansis and Rory Gibson are three great recasts of legacy characters.
There’s a reason Rylan wasn’t asked back. Havins has made the character prominent again and has a darned good chance of securing an Emmy nod for her work.
I’ve loved Alexa in this role.
Been watching GH since 1963 love it
Quit watching 3 months ago after 30 plus years.. Characters were meh.
Frank, i love you! but you have been breaking our hearts. last year was terrible. we hung in there. please give us better!

GENERAL HOSPITAL: Emma Wants to Save Anna, Isaiah’s Career is All But Destroyed, Joe Makes an Arrest
The Monday, May 18 episode of General Hospital brought with it a startling discovery, a new reality for one surgeon, a new cop on the scene, and a granddaughter determined to protect her grandmother.
First, Laura (Genie Francis) tells Mac (John J. York) and Dante (Dominic Zamprogna) that Anna (Finola Hughes) is in worse trouble than she was previously after she had Kevin to check on her while he was in Europe. They head out to update Emma (Braedyn Bruner) and Felicia (Kristina Wagner).
Meanwhile, Emma gets upset over Anna during a discussion with Felicia and breaks Anna’s favorite coffee cup. Emma is overcome with sadness and cries, trying to figure out how she is supposed to be so happy with Gio (Giovanni Mazza), while Anna is locked away somewhere against her own will.

BAD NEWS FOR EMMA
Laura and Mac arrive to talk with Emma and Felicia, and reveal how Anna escaped and made it to the border, but she was now in the custody of the French authorities and they are transferring her to a long term mental illness facility, which freaks out Emma just as Gio arrives. Emma runs into his arms. Laura says at this point, Anna needs a strong advocate and she will make a call on her behalf. (But to who?)
At the Metro Court pool, Curtis (Donnell Turner) is arrested by Detective Joe Fitzpatrick (Jonathan Bennett) after throwing a punch at Isaiah (Sawandi Wilson). Joe takes Curtis to the station where Dante (Dominic Zamprogna) tells Fitzgerald to remove Curtis’ handcuffs. Now inside the interrogation room, Curtis explains that he believes Isaiah left he and Jordan (Tanisha Harper) dead at the side of the road the night of the accident and provoked him.
BROKEN HAND, BROKEN MAN
Curtis just wants to put it all behind him and says he will pay for Isaiah’s medical bills, but Dante informs him, he is trouble and he needs to call a lawyer. So, he calls Jordan. Meanwhile, Isaiah gets looked at while at General Hospital, and his hand is messed up. He comes to learn he will need multiple surgeries not only for broken bones but two tendons were severed in the process. Isaiah realizes his surgical days are numbered possibility forever, if not for a very long time.
JOSSLYN FINDS ANNA’S MESSAGE
While being held hostage, Josslyn (Eden McCoy) tries again to convince Cassius (Ryan Paevey) to set her free. That leads into the two playing cards and Cassius asking Josslyn how she got into the WSB. Josslyn admits her boyfriend was murdered and she killed the person who was the culprit for retribution. She says she put together all the pieces that he did the crime, and now this line of work gives her purpose.
In the shocking final moments, after Cassius leaves for the night, Josslyn heads to the cot in the other part of the holding room and sees a hand-carved message on the wall from Anna that she was there and help captive on October 31, 2025. We fade to black.
So what did you think of the concern Emma showed for Anna, and the performance of Braedyn Bruner? What are your very initial impressions of Jonathan Bennett as Joe Fitzgerald? Which character is annoying you more in the story … Curtis, Jordan, Portia or Isaiah? Weigh-in via the comment section.

GENERAL HOSPITAL Preview: Detective Fitzpatrick is on the Scene, Nina Has to Silence Jack, Josslyn Needs an Escape Route
This week on all-new episodes of General Hospital investigations, protection modes and conflict are the order of the day. In the just released ABC promo for the soap opera entitled “Held Captive,” first Lulu (Alexa Havins) is preparing to flea the country with Rocco (Finn Carr) if necessary including having passports ready and their bags packed.
However, with Dante (Dominic Zamprogna) having full-knowledge of Rocco shooting Cullum (Andrew Hawkes) and his own desire and plan to keep his son safe right in Port Charles, he firmly tells Lulu,“You will make my son a fugitive over my dead body!”
Meanwhile, Josslyn (Eden McCoy) is trying to find a way out of captivity and as she moves her bed she finds a shocking message,“Anna Devane (Finola Hughes) was held captive here. I was taken on 10-31-25.” Suddenly, Josslyn is so panicked and determined. She tells herself she is going to get out of there. Next, we see her smashing a chair into someone’s face! Can she find a way out? Will Cassius (Ryan Paevey) be waiting for her to throw her back in?

GENERAL HOSPITAL SPOILERS
Nina (Cynthia Watros) is getting all jittery again, as it appears she has gone back into Jack Brennan’s (Chris McKenna) hospital room and is ready to inject him with another secret dose of the medication to keep him in a paralytic state, after she accidentally jabbed him during his brawl with Valentin (James Patrick Stuart). As viewers know, that dose of the drug meant to keep Drew in a locked-in state. However, now Jack starts to move!
In addition, General Hospital welcomes Jonathan Bennett to the cast as PCPD Detective Joe Fitzpatrick, and in key moment he is seen at the police station. As to just what Joe will be up to? Well, in an additional newly released clip featuring Bennett in his debut episode on Monday, it’s clear that Detective Fitzpatrick is looking into Curtis (Donnell Turner) and Isaiah’s (Sawandi Wilson) altercation at the Metro Court Pool when he says, “What are the chances Ashford talks his way out of an arrest? General Hospital
‘General Hospital’s’ Finn Carr and Dominic Zamprogna Deliver the ‘Power Performances of the Week’
The on-screen father/son combo of General Hospital’s Dante and Rocco Falconeri as portrayed by Dominic Zamprogna and Finn Carr were part of high emotional stakes scenes on episodes airing May 11-15.
First, Finn Carr’s Rocco is so guilt-ridden and burdened with the secret that he shot WSB director, Ross Cullum that it’s eating him alive. So much so, that he gets into a heated argument with Charlotte (Bluesy Burke) and Danny (Asher Antonyzyn). Rocco feels so badly that Danny’s father was taken from him for parts unknown by the WSB, all because Jason refused to implicate Rocco as the shooter.
In a heartbreaking scene, Rocco shows up at Britt’s door and lets her know he can’t take it anymore and that the secret he is keeping is tearing him apart. The fear is palpable in Rocco’s eyes. Britt calls Rocco a hero for saving her life and Jason’s and he has to remember that. Britt hugs him and promises that he can come talk to her anytime. In that moment, Rocco felt seen and felt safe.

ROCCO ON THE EDGE
All of the beats mentioned above were played with depth and acting maturity by Finn Carr; that it is so very clear why the writers and the producers are so comfortable giving him the ball in this umbrella story. He steps up to the plate every time and hits it out of the park.
Rocco also overheard his parents fighting over him after Dante figured out that Rocco was responsible for the shooting, and confronted Lulu (Alexa Havins) for withholding the truth from him. As their argument escalated and their relationship was further threatened by the lies, Rocco listened to the whole thing from the outside porch.
Eventually Dante, who had learned the truth by having Elizabeth (Rebecca Herbst) help him piece together what happened the night Cullum was shot, has a heart to heart with his son. He asks Rocco to tell him in his own words the events that transpired, and promises Rocco, that even though he is the police commissioner, he is going to help him. Rocco goes step by step over how Cullum was about to strike Jason with a weighted-baton and how the gun was loose on the ground and he shot him. Dante says his actions saved Jason and Britt’s life, and that he is going to help his son from here on out. He just wished everyone had come to him sooner, because as the father it’s his job to protect his son, not the other way around.
DANTE COMES TO TERMS
Still later in the week, Dante is visited by Elizabeth, and they discuss how they are going to cover-up any evidence that Rocco was at the hospital the night of the shooting with a hand injury, and that Dante is going to make sure the evidence against Rocco disappears. Something that is a huge disconnect for anyone that knows what a fine and upstanding cop Dante has been through the years, but he is determined to help his son stay safe and to keep him close.
However, Cullum is on the hunt for said evidence, and thinks Danny may have shot him in the back (or does he … and he knows Rocco shot him?). He visits Dante’s office and wants the evidence in the shooting. Meanwhile, bets are we are a few story beats away from Danny learning Rocco shot Cullum.
Throughout all the material given to Finn Carr and Dominic Zamprogna they rose to the occasion. Finn, getting the opportunity to play the often uptight Rocco on the edge, and Dominic, showing us how he can make us feel what Dante is feeling just by watching the emotion and hurt in his eyes. Therefore, Michael Fairman TV names Finn Carr and Dominic Zamprogna our picks for the Power Performances of the Week.
Now below, let us know if you agree with our picks of Finn and Dominic as the standout performances of the week, and if so, what moment really tugged on your heartstrings featuring Rocco and/or Dante via the comment section.
