Guy Wilson Temporary Recast for Jonathan Jackson in the Role of General Hospital’s Lucky Spencer

This week, fans tuning to General Hospital will see a very familiar face when Guy Wilson takes over the role of Lucky Spencer from Jonathan Jackson, while the five-time Daytime Emmy winner is temporarily off the show.

Wilson will first appear on-screen as Lucky beginning with the Tuesday, February 18th episode. According to a GH rep who spoke to Soap Opera Digest, Guy will be in a handful of episodes on the ABC daytime drama series, with Jackson already back on the set filming all-new episodes.

As Days of our Lives fans know, Wilson was a previous recast for the pivotal role of Will Horton on Days of our Lives from 2014-2015, when Chandler Massey opted not to return to the part at that time. In fact, it was Guy who made DAYS history when will married the love of his life Sonny Kiriakis (Freddie Smith) in a ceremony officiated by Marlena Evans (Deidre Hall).

In a fun fact, this is not Wilson’s first time on GH. Back in 2006, he actually played a teenaged version of Lucky’s father, the iconic Luke Spencer (Anthony Geary). Since GH tapes several weeks in advance, the temporary swap happened a little while ago.

Since exiting DAYS, Guy has kept busy appearing in numerous television and streaming shows, plus independent motion pictures and more. Wilson has more recently guest starred on s Rizzoli & Isles, Bosch: Legacy, and will soon be seen in an upcoming episode of Shemar Moore’s S.W.A.T.

The timing of Jackson’s exit, seems to come at a pivotal time in the story, as Elizabeth (Rebecca Herbst) and Lucky are getting closer to the truth about Cyrus Renault (Jeff Kober) and his murder spree, and with her life in danger just as the exes looked like they were heading to a romance 4.0 version.

So, what do you think of the casting of Guy Wilson as ‘temp’ Lucky Spencer on General Hospital? Looking forward to seeing him back on a soap?Comment below.

No bring back the real Lucky!

You would see it’s only temporary if you bothered to read the post.

And that is JJ’s call.

Thank you captain obvious.

I was adding to your comment that it was only temporary. The person to whom you were responding said,” Bring back the real Lucky.” I was pointing out that it was JJ’s choice to take a brief leave of absence.

Oh sorry.

That’s fine. I wasn’t very clear.

Good thing this is only temporary because this recast is a MAJOR let down for Liz and Lucky fans. Liz and Lucky work best with Becky Herbst and Jonathan Jackson together. Their chemistry is undeniable. They are magic together. I’m glad JJ will be back next week. This kinda robs us from what could be an emotional week between Liz, Lucky and Cyrus. I hope the kiss that is supposed to happen between the couple happens when JJ is back. Too bad they couldn’t get one of the previous actors that played Lucky in as a temp.

One would think that both Greg Vaughan and Jacob Young would have too much self respect to take on the role for only a few episodes.

True. While Jonathan Jackson is my favorite Lucky, I thought Greg Vaughn did a great job as a man grappling with pain pill addiction. Jacob Young had an unfortunate habit of shouting his lines even when the scenes called for a calm tone of voice.

i dont like it in fact i hate it why is he being temporary replaced there is only one lucky and thats jonathan jackson

Um – there were 3 long term Luckys. It’s only a few weeks – viewers can handle it.

As someone who always preferred Guy Wilson as Will Horton, I’m not upset by this. Not to mention, I’m not a Jonathan Jackson fan in the slightest. I’m welcoming Wilson in!!!

I, too was very partial to Guy’s Will Horton. I liked Chandler in his early days. Anyways, I think Guy is keeping the character warm and ready from Jonathan Jackson’s return.

Ugh. This guy (no pun intended) ruined Will Horton so much that many mortals actually cheered when Necktie Ben took him out.

Thank all unholiness this is only temporary, but lets hope he’s not playing any key scenes between Lucky and Elizabeth. In recent months we have seen the temp hire versions of Sam & Mikey playing out some important scenes, and it really killed the impact of the material.

I’m one hundred percent fine with that , as long as jonathan is coming back

Guy was so cute on Days

Hope e returns soon so they can play out the Cyrus story .. hope Jeff kober not leaving the show he a dam good actor!!! Anyone who ever acted with him knows he good!!! An yes original lucky is the best at what he does as well as beening in a band

It’s ok as long as Jonathan isn’t going to be going for good

I wish Jonathan Jackson was doing this important scene he is a fantastic actor put perfection in anything his performances are great a protégé as an actor or anything he achieves his talent performance in acting singing documentaries anything he gives his all

He reminds me of Frisco Jones!

Vincent Pastore, best known for his memorable role as Salvatore “Big Pussy” Bonpensiero on HBO’s The Sopranos has passed away.

The veteran actor was found dead on August 1st in his home in the Bronx, New York. Pastore was 80-years-old. The cause of death is yet to be determined.

As well as his role on The Sopranos, many soap fans will recall he played multiple smaller roles on the beloved One Life to Live from 1995 and 2004. However, in 2008, he landed the short-term role as Maximus Giambetti on General Hospital.

PASTORE WANTED TO BE ON GENERAL HOSPITAL

Maximus was the mobster father of Sonny Corinthos’ (Maurice Benard) bodyguards: Max (Derk Cheetwood) and Milo (Drew Cheetwood)

According to Soap Opera Digest, Pastore told Soaps In Depth back in 2009, after appearing in a SOAPnet promotional campaign as a celebrity fan of General Hospital: “‘I’d love to be on the show. So they called up GH’s casting director (Mark Teschner) and Bobby (Robert Guza Jr. ex-head writer, GH) and they wrote me in!”

Pastore was a huge General Hospital fan from way back, who at one point told producers that he would watch the ABC soap opera while working in bars and nightclubs in the 70s and 80s.

Throughout his decades long career, Pastore appeared in films including: Goodfellas, Carlito’s Way and Men of Respect, The Jerky Boys: The Movie and the 1996 HBO TV movie Gotti.

In TV, besides The Sopranos, Pastore’s credits included: Law & Order, The Practice, Son of the Beach, Queens Supreme, Hawaii Five-0, Wu-Tang: An American Saga, plus the miniseries The Last Don II. Most recently, Vincent was a series regular on Gravesend and guest starred on Yellowjackets.

Pastore is survived by his daughter, Renee, son-in-law and granddaughter.
