‘General Hospital’ Head Writers Preview ‘Whole Slew of Other Revelations and Actions’ After Reveal of ‘Who Shot Drew’
Last week on General Hospital, after months and months of speculation, Drew’s (Cameron Mathison) shooter was revealed and it turned out to be his wife, Willow all along! Many GH viewers have stood by their belief that it was Willow (Katelyn MacMullen) from the start, while GH Emmy-winning co-head writers, Chris Van Etten and Elizabeth Korte spun several possible other suspects out of the mystery to keep everyone a bit off track.
As we head into the week of January 12, the only people right now that knows that Willow shot Drew are Trina (Tabyana Ali) and Kai (Jens Austin Astrup), as they were at the scene of the crime (in another room) and heard the gunshots, and as it turned out, the ringtone to Willow’s phone. Now armed with the truth, they head to Alexis Davis’ (Nancy Lee Grahn) law office, to tell her that her client, Willow shot Drew. What we still don’t know is what Alexis will do with the information given when she needs to get Willow exonerated of charges so Drew will permit her visitations rights to her granddaughter, Scout.
Since you cannot be tried for the same crime twice, (double jeopardy) if Willow is found not guilty by the jury, and no one speaks up before the verdict, she would be a free woman and the case against her would be dropped. So, where is this all leading? Van Etten and Korte, who crafted one of the best storylines of 2025, shared a preview with Soap Opera Digest as the next few weeks and months are about to unfold in what will prove to be very intriguing keeping many characters on their toes.

SOAP TROPE TWIST
Usually in soaps, the person on trial for a whodunit is wrongly accused and the real culprit is roaming around free. Korte acknowledged that she and Van Etten did a flip on the that plot device. “There is a convention in soap opera that the person who stands trial is never guilty,” explained Elizabeth. And so to be able to put (Willow) on trial and hold until the very end and give to Trina and Kai the realization that it was her (turns that convention on its head). You can suspect her all you want, but we didn’t affirm it until the trial was already underway.”
On bringing up the ringtone much later in the story arc that cements Willow as the actual shooter, Van Etten shared, “It was there from the very start, and we knew from the very start that we wanted to have that piece of evidence and to put Trina and Kai in a position to know it, but not realize that they knew anything until almost the close (of the case).”
Van Etten added, “There is so much left to unfold. Revealing who shot Drew is, I think, the end of chapter one or chapter two, depending on how you’re constructing it (laughs). What happens as a result of Trina and Kai making this realization is going to cause huge drama for the people who have been involved in this trial or anyone who has been implicated — and that’s barely even the beginning!”
WILLOW GOES FREE?
Official General Hospital spoilers for the week indicate that on the Monday, January 12 episode, “Alexis is floored.” Meanwhile, come on the Friday, January 16 episode, “Willow awaits news of her fate,” while “Alexis explains her actions.”
Elizabeth Korte teased, “The revelation of who’s the shooter is — I hesitate to use the cliché ‘just the beginning,’ but all it does is set the table for a whole slew of other revelations and actions by everyone involved.”
Given what Chris and Elizabeth shared, do you think it’s more likely that Willow gets found not guilty, Alexis keeps her mouth shut, thus Drew is living with the woman who hates his guts, and will now be in more imminent danger of her? If Willow goes free, are they going to go after Michael where he could end up behind bars, she gets their kids, and then tries to get rid of Drew again? Share you thoughts and theories from here via the comment section.
Oh please let Alexis do the right thing. The very idea of Willow and Drew obtaining custody of the children yields to a most unsatisfying outcome for viewers. I think Alexis should send Trina and Kai Ric’s way to see if he can arrange a plea deal for them. (By the way, where IS Ric? I miss him) I think two things might turn up:1. Michael planted his great grandfather’s gun in Willow’s room after she had returned it. 2. Willow committed the crime as an alter, possibly as her sister Nelle so she could be found not guilty by reason of insanity. I don’t see Willow being written off the show so the only way her character can be redeemed and stay on is if she is declared legally insane.
Willow never returned the gun and how would Michael know to set her up.
I’m using inferences in order to speculate because, well, that is what sophomore viewers do. Michael was outside Drew’s house when Willow shot Drew. He may have seen her flee to the Q estate and then he put two and two together when the police came with a search warrant and told Michael that Edward’s gun was used in the shooting.
Yikes! Darn autocorrect. I meant, soap viewers, not sophomore viewers.
Agreed about Alexis doing the right thing is a stretch.
I really do not want Willow to go free, but, it would be more intriguing if Willow plots a different way to finally end Drew Cains (Barnaby Silas) life. Willow cannot be tried twice for same crime.
Twins. Willow & Nelle are alot alike. I wonder if the crazy gene comes from Nina or the families that adopted them? Nature V Nurture.
I will stop watching GH if Willow and Drew get the kids and Michael goes on trial.
If Willow goes free and Michael goes to jail for a crime he didn’t commit I’ll stop watching GH
I will too. This has gone on enough. And im tried of looking at Drew and Willow. Enough All Ready!! Let it end right. Willow goes to jail. And Michael and the Jacedina can be Happy. I like them together. Something NEW!
I hope that will not happen the writers have more sense than that.
Me too, and I have been watching since day one in 1963. But they are taking this storyline too far and now it is way too old.
Same here.
Agree
I agree also let there be a flea bargain done because Willow has been treated so bad from Drew she could have a likely calls for shooting him at this point I don’t think she deserves the kids that Michael have them and hope a relationship does work with his new girl I don’t think Willa really deserves Michael after all this
Me too!
I will stop watching it also also my friends.
Me too. Enough is enough
Really? That’s Michaels ringtone too.
No it’s Not
Willow never ho free thought kid come forward court say know who shot her father tored gh storyline she never ho free
Everything Drew has gone from the very beginning is to get revenge on Michael and the Quatermaines, Willow was the beginning period and Michael shouldn’t go to prison for her crime.
Willow needs to be found guilty. Willow think she is so cleaver; Alexis can not allow a murder and a crook to raise her granddaughter
Alexis can not afford to jeopardize her license to save Willow by keeping her mouth shut.
If Alexis don’t use the information dumb kai and dumber Trina against willow and show that she isn’t innocent as Alexis told the jury ..I do hope she loses her law licenses AGAIN…and be barred for life…bc that will most likely backfire on Micheal and then they will go after poor innocent Micheal…omg Alexis it will be a long time before Kristina forgives you for knowingly allowing her brother to put BACK in prison without the real shooter be exposed…if alexis don’t speak up she don’t deserve to be a lawyer….oh maybe for he insane Asylum..
That’s where she, willow and drew belongs…stop playing with disgusting Drew, don’t you have grand parents rights ..miss lawyer????
Agree 100%
Willow needs to pay for her crime Alexis hopefully does the right thing drew needs to get his comeuppance
Maybe the old alexis would but I am not sure about that one I hope that I am wrong.
The truth must come out. However it happened, whether she was in an altered mental state or just finally fed up with the snake, Willow shot Drew. Willow must be held accountable for that action. When Alexis gets the news from Trina and Kai, she must insure that the information is made public. I know Alexis is committed to being able to continue seeing Scout; but, she cannot risk her law license by covering this up. Also, hateful snake Drew and nut job Willow are not fit parents for Scout and Willow’s children.
Leave Michael alone! He has suffered enough.
So has Drew!
You kidding since when drew was ever a victim? All he did was using people make lives miserable the list goes on
Drew does nothing but commit good deeds. He saved Willow’s life, brightened Carly and Nina’s lives with his love making skills, loves his daughter and has made overtures to his family. He was so impassioned in court defending Willow that it brought tears to my eyes. He is heroic but gets nothing by crap from everyone. He should wear a T shirt that reads,” No Good Deed Goes Unpunished.”
When have he suffered?
Drew is nice. Are you insane!!!! He’s a snake!!!!
Speaking as a former snake myself, I really must object to that comparison!
If the whole Drew/Willow thing continues, I’ll stop watching. Maybe good try on the flipping a plot line but not great. I started watching this show when it started in 1963. It’s really a sweet story how at three yrs old I got hooked, but not until or since Luke n Laura and the gang in the 80’s has the storyline been more repetitive, mostly boaring/foreseeable and forced to continue to bring back some of the best actors and writer reconstruction aka brining back from the dead or coma bs is going to cause another Cancelation. You can do this, make it happen. Ps I Like Carley and Jack/Joey (as Roni/Vickie said) together, Jocelyn is too snoty and needs her tuff man to help her out! Trina is way over Protected and shows it and dont get me started on Elizabeth…tighten up girls, we already have the 3 boy wonders whom I dont want to know where they go.
As wrote this is the most mind-boggling soap stoyline in years. Very ‘Edge of Night’–and its late headwriter the late Henry Slesar!
What so miñd+bogging about it?all soaps are the same couple cheating on each other lying doing things that only happened in soaps
Henry Slesar would not have been caught DEAD around a storyline like this! Props, though, Connie, for mentioning this great soap scribe. I sorely miss Edge of Night!
Willow needs to rot in prison and Drew’s bubble needs to be popped after putting Williw on a pedestal. Both are psychotics in my book.
Do you actually think this was one of the BEST storylines of 2025? The consensus of viewers/fans is that this “Who Dunnit?” was dragged out into a “Who Cares?”
To think that we now have to carry on through 2026 with the same storyline featuring “Drewl”and Willow, show the writing staff isnt listening to fan feedback.
As for Alexis, the worst attorney ever. She wont do a thing about the ringtone because if she does….bye bye Scout. She has already had her law license suspended once…now she will lose it forever.
I agree with this post but who done it has gotten really boring you’ve dragged it on way too long move on to a different storyline and make Drew finally get what he deserves nobody is so evil and gets away with everything he’s gotten away with
If Trina and Kai testify about the ringtone AND the blackmail papers in exchange for total immunity then Drew will also be up on charges, possibly in prison as well. Bye bye daddy threat.
I can’t believe Diane told her to do nothing! I thought Diane was ok but now I have doubts.
Diane is a by-the-book attorney. Support the system. Be a stalwart advocate of the system. Even when it hurts. I didn’t find this outside her character at all.
Right now Willow is being charged locally, So even if she gets off here, can’t she can still have federal charges put against her for the attempted murder of a US senator?
Yes, but remember, the writers also let the will of a person under 18 go through probate and stand up to a challenge.
Just put Drew and Willow in a car along with Nina and drive all of them off a cliff. I’m so sick of them.
Please finally end their storyline it’s boring
I totally agree! Please put Alexis in the car with them. She is such a hypocrite and worst lawyer ever. This is the same person that gave Jason such a hard time about being a bad father. Saids the woman who has two kids by mobsters. One by a nut case. All of them need to go away !!!!!!
Right you are
AGREED! 100%
LOVE IT!
Why NINA? As my grandmother used to say,” Don’t throw the baby out with the bath water.” Nina is the baby in that idiom and she is precious. Leave her alone.
If Trina & Kai are the reason Willow goes free it is a terrible shame. Going to Alexis is the worse thing they can do & they should have went to the police or DA!! With the evidence they supply should get them exempt from any charges.. they both need to make this right!!!!!!!!!
They should take what they know to the DA and hopeful get a plea deal. I would not trust Alexis with this info.
I hope Willow is convicted and it is over with! Alexis can handle herself and go after Drew!
I don’t think Michael should caught up in this mess because he is innocent. That’s really wrong to accuse someone of something they didn’t do, I’m asking that you don’t make him be the bad guy, cause he is not!!! He has done time for saving his baby sister and it was protecting his sister from a mobster. He really didn’t have to do time for protecting his mom and sister, That was so WRONG !!!!! Very WRONG!!!!
It is time for Drew to get what’s coming to him his storyline is getting really boring I fast forward through him all the time it’s just enough enough is enough
Oh please let this story end!!
Writers need to be fired. Boring ongoing story. Lost all interest. Keep moving storyline.many people i know stopped looking. At GH. Most of storyline line is senseless. BORING.
Michael goes to jail
No he won’t !!
How can Alexis let Willow be around Scout knowing that she is all potential murderer and obviously psychotic????
The only logical outcome is for Alexis to do something- I find it hard to believe she would allow Willow anywhere near Scout after hearing what Trina & Kai have to say.
Please kill Drew off. Willow needs to go jail. Im tired of seeing Drew running over people and getting away with it.
Holy cow, they implied this storyline could still go on for months. We know Alexis will get Willow acquitted. She will not say a darn thing. Stupid really, as she has enough to get custody of Scout if she would just use her brain correctly.
I hope Willow is found guilty and end this story line. Truthfully a lot of people are tired of this story line. You drag it out for so long eventually no one cares about it anymore.
PLEASE can Drew get what he deserves. I do have to say that Drew has been portrayed as the slimmest thuman being ever. Matheson deserves awards for this portrayal and maybe a religious cleansing.
Thanks to his shirt off scene on Monday, you’re right – he could be the slimmest on the show. Darned fine for a man of his age.
Michael has been to jail did that done that
It has to be more exciting. Alexis need to step up and fight Drew for Scout.
We are soooooooo very tired of those two not facing the music they started. It’s time to move on now. It’s time for the end. It has linger to long pleaseeee enough. It’s other stories you have going on. We don’t care if they stay or move on but enough already. I read where some people have decided to take a break from General Hospital because same old same old. New year new beginning becout of all this Michael and children deserve happy. And with the new lady he’s started to care for , despite her past I think they look together and both care and I see a little love..
Who is this “we” you’re talking about? You don’t speak for a large chunk of the audience.
I’m so negative I make Debbie Downer look like KD Lange and the Sunshine Band famous for their hit,” Walking on Sunshine.” That established, I’m not understanding all the complaints. For the first time in awhile, I’m not fast forwarding through scenes. Sure, I have some complaints about the pacing and dangling stories but not so much where I need to fast forward through most of the show. I finally gave up on Y&R after watching for 30 plus years because I was fast forwarding more content than I was watching. I like the court scenes and how the who shot Drew story has impacted so many characters. Plus, Cameron has demonstrated great comedic prowess as Drew. I can’t be the only one who finds him to be hilarious.
I was hoping they’d bring back the old D.I.D. storyline with Willow having a split personality (alternative identity) brought up from all the trauma in her life. This alter ego could have been present while she was in the cult…. Was buried in the background while she was married to Michael, and resurfaced after she learned about Drew and Nina. That would keep her around for awhile. Remember the Nikki/Vicky storyline from OLTL?
I was hoping for the DID storyline too! That would’ve opened up so much more juicy drama. And yes, I remember the Nikki/Vicki storyline, it kept Llanview SPICY! That Nikki was a whole mess.
They still might!
Don’t Give Willow Those Kids. And Don’t You Dare Send Michael To Jail. Alexis Do The Right Thing. Drew Will Be Going To Court For Blackmail Or By Shot By Olivia For What He Did To Husband.
Look, I’ve been watching General Hospital since I was 9 I’m 64, I love your storylines, cause there like in real life, But, to let Willow get acquitted and then let her fight a good Father Michael, for the kids when she’s a murderer, makes me sick, and it throws your storylines sick, sends bad signals, I’m sorry, But, it’s going to be hard watching, so maybe I won’t
Please get rid of the character drew, he’s become icky!
He is NOT icky! He’s cute. And nice.
Let the bomb drop on Willow being the one who shot Drew right before the end of jury time. This has gone on too long. Let’s get on with Drew stealing from Tracy and what’s next for Willow ‼️‼️‼️
It depends on who tells her attorney-client privilege or it it comes another source ensculptory evidence that must revealed to prosecution and avoid sanctions
If Willow goes free I’m taking a GH ling term vacation. I can’t watch it.
I am soooooo tired of this storyline. I just watch recaps to determine if I want to watch the full episodes….and I don’t! GH for me, is no longer interesting……
and that was the dumbest thing for Trina and Kai to go to Alexis, the person working to have Willow acquitted….ugh!!
Please writers the let Alexis do the right thing, I am so tired and looking forward to a new plot.
Oh goodness just do something with Drew and let everyone know Willow shot him if not I want be watching your show anymore and give Scout to Alexis please
I really hope Trina and Kai go to Ada Turner or Dante with the info they have. I hope Willow doesn’t go free. She doesn’t deserve Michael’s kids. I like Michael and Jucinda together though.
Can’t wait to see Drew’s reaction if\ when he finds out the truth, what a blow to his ego.
I think Trina and Kai need to go to the police and let them know the truth and not let Alexea manipulate them I think Alexa needs to be suspended from being a lawyer. She’s doing this only for herself not the right thing for her clients she’s letting she’s letting Willow go so she could see her grandchildren that is wrong
The head writers should be ashamed of the themselves for forcing viewers to watch this crap or stop watching st all. The viewers could do a better job
I really hope Alexis do the right thing with the information! I can see the plot twist of mentally insane plea for Willow! I think Alexis could use Drew blackmailing as a mean to petition the court to get Scout! Either way I feel the truth needs to be told I knew all along it was Willow angels im so sick of her and Drew relationship! But let’s not forget sidwell holding Anna hostage I think Valentin will likely find her since he’s leaving Carly place now and he knows sidwell approach Charlotte! I can’t wait until Sonny and Laura get the upper hand on him! I will say it is keeping things interesting but I don’t like that they have sonny losing his influence or power! I like Michael with Jacinda but I do miss Sasha and thought they could rekindled! Oh that note I do hope it comes out that willow was the one stalking their baby! I’m gone keep watching because I just can’t stop I love the show
Let Willow go to prison. Get rid of Drew permanently and get rid of Sidwell. can’t stand either of them. Time for a new direction. Reveal Alexas reasons to the public as to why she is defending Willow . And let the two young people tell their story to the prosecuter.
I think Willow should plead temporary insanity and get sent to a facility. Now that Alexis nows the truth maybe she can please bargain this type of a deal.
If Alexis keeps her mouth shut I hope she gets disbarred again!! She says I’m NOT a Cassadine but when it suites her she as HELL is !!!! Who cares that 2 little children will be in imminent danger as long as I get my Scout!!!! She makes me sick !!!!!! Since Trina and her boyfriend know the truth I really hope they go talk to the pcpd circumstances be damned!!! I want Willow and Drew gone so sick of these two horrible ppl. And their storyline!!!! Bring back good loving kind Drew get rid of the imposter!!!!!
Definitely NOT one of the best storylines and who ever thinks so WOW!!! Drew needs to go to prison Willow needs to go to prison!! And if Alexis doesn’t do the right thing she needs to be disbarred indefinitely!! Also bring good Drew back and have him and Jason kick bad Drew’s who is an imposter (been saying that all along ) but till he can’t see straight and then throw him in solitary for the remainder of his life along with sidwell, pascal, and marco !!!!Also concerning Marco and Lucas are you really gonna sit there and tell watchers that after what Brad did with Marco being sidwell son Lucas isn’t just a little suspicious??? Come on DUMB HE ISNT!!
This plot is truly ridiculous! The writers suck cause they dont know how to end this ridiculous plot! We are sick of it! Right now know one cares!
Again, who is the “we” you describe? You don’t speak for a large portion of the audience. Might want to brush up on your grammar, too (no one)
Really?!?! Alexis should do the right thing. This is ridiculous especially given the world we live in now.
Can we please move on from this storyline. Let Drew get what’s coming to him. This has drug on long enough. Make sure chase knows that his sweet Willow is guilty.
General Hospital
GH and OLTL Alum Patrick J. Gibbons Reveals the Story Behind Writing Trina’s Song on ‘General Hospital’ (Exclusive)

At the conclusion of today’s August 21 episode of General Hospital, Trina Robinson (Tabyana Ali) sings a lullaby to baby Dez, that went into a montage to close out the episode as her father Curtis Ashford (Donnell Turner) reports to Pentonville and winds up in his jail cell.
However, in a fun fact, the song entitled, “A Lonely Heart To Give” was actually written by none other than former One Life to Live and General Hospital actor, Patrick J. Gibbons.
Daytime fans first met Gibbons as Sam Manning on One Life to Live. At the time, when he started on the soap, he was just 5-years-old. Gibbons played the part from 2010-2013 on ABC and Prospect Park’s editions of the show. Fast-forward to 2018, Gibbons shows up on General Hospital as Wyatt Hoover, the scout who seemed always be injured, but in the thick of the drama. Patrick had appeared on GH multiple times as Wyatt including: 2018, 2019, 2021, 2022, 2023.

FROM HIS GRANDMOTHER’S DEATH CAME THE INSPIRATION FOR HIS SONG
Now in 2026, General Hospital fans are getting to learn about another side of Gibbons’ talent as a songwriter and guitar player after “A Lonely Heart to Give” debuted today! Michael Fairman TV caught up with Patrick, who is now a senior at Penn State entering his final year as a finance major, to get the back-story of how his song wound up on GH!
Gibbons explained he wrote the song in honor of his grandmother who passed away a few years ago with whom he was, very, very close with. “Randomly, my grandmother had a downfall and passed away during the second semester of my sophomore year. I was in my dorm a lot and I was just playing with my guitar. And at the time, I was really into finger-style playing. I wrote the lyric and music to it (with a little help from my guitar teacher Lou), and my mom showed the rough demo to Frank Valentini (EP, General Hospital). He’s like an uncle to me. Frank loved it so much he said, “Finish that up. I want to hear the whole thing, and I want it on the show.”
MAKING MUSIC FOR GENERAL HOSPITAL
Gibbons and his parents took the next steps! “So now, all we needed was a female voice, because I thought that would fit the song well,” Patrick shared. “At the golf club we go to my parents were at a dinner. They liked the singer that was performing and spoke to her about the song, and she says she would like to bring it to her ‘boss’ who ended up being Eric Bazilian of the Hooters fame!” (Bazilian also wrote the smash hit song “One of Us” for Joan Osborne).
Next, “We went in the studio and recorded it and the song came together and it was beautiful. We loved it. They loved it at General Hospital and now they’re putting it the show and they are coming in with a piano, instead of a guitar. Paul Glass, the GH musical director, has been keeping us updated over the last six months of how it was coming along, and when it would air, and how GH put their own arrangement to it. I can’t wait to see and hear what they did with it.”

PATRICK’S ONE LIFE TO LIVE FAMILY
Everyone knows that the One Life to Live extended family share a very tight bond, and Patrick said he does stay in touch with a few of his former One Life to Live co-stars, especially those from the Manning family! “I stayed in touch with Kassie DePaiva (ex-Blair) and sent her little videos here and there. She was like my second mom for five years. We keep in contact with Kristen Alderson (ex-Starr) over X the most, and she can’t believe how big I’ve gotten. Like, none of them can! (laughs). I also loved working with Roger Howarth (ex-Todd) and Trevor St. John (ex-Todd and Victor Jr.), and to me since I was so young, they were just my friends, ‘Roger and Trevor,’ not Todd Manning or Victor Jr.”
It was a trip to California and a visit to Port Charles that ultimately led to Gibbons second soap role of Wyatt Hoover. Patrick explains, “In 2016, Frank Valentini invited us out to Los Angeles to visit the set of General Hospital. I think he heard me say, ‘This is so much fun. I miss being on the set.’ He goes, ‘You should come out. I’ll bring you on the show. We can make you a character.'”
A few years later, Patrick’s dream became a reality! “Then, by the summer of 2018, I was playing Wyatt, the scout, and shared scenes with Wes Ramsey (Peter August), and the best was when I shared a scene with Roger Howarth and Michael Easton (ex-John, OLTL and ex-Silas, Finn et al, GH), it was like chemistry from the old days.”

IT’S ALL IN THE NUMBERS
As to his future aspirations, it’s a career in the finance game that has piqued Gibbons’ real-life interest. But never say never to a return to acting. Patrick explained, “I’ve always enjoyed numbers. And on top of that, one of the biggest parts of finance is being personable and outgoing.”
He continued, “That’s one of the greatest skills I developed growing up. I really love the markets. I’m super interested. I’m never going to close the door to acting. I’m always open to that because I just love it so much. It’s such a great art.”
Take note! If there are any investment bankers or private equity folks among the GH faithful looking for a young analyst next year, Patrick’s DMs are open. You can find him on X at @PatrickJGibbons.”
So, what did you think of the song sung by Trina on today’s GH that was written by Patrick J. Gibbons? Did you enjoy Patrick’s performances as One Life’s Sam and GH’s Wyatt? Would you like to see him back on GH at some point? Let us know via the comment section.
General Hospital
‘General Hospital’ Alum Chad Duell Admits That He Didn’t Expect the Role of Michael Corinthos to be Recast, and Would Consider Working on Another Soap (Exclusive)

Chad Duell, the Daytime Emmy-winning actor, who stepped away from the pivotal role of Michael Corinthos on General Hospital, opened up about: his previous decision to leave the series after nearly 15 years, where’s he’s at now after time away from the demands of a daytime soap opera, and took a stroll down memory lane with some of Michael’s most-acclaimed storyline during his run, during a livestream chat on August 19 on You Tube’s Michael Fairman Channel.
Viewers last saw Duell on-screen as Michael in January of 2025, and with his successor in the role, Rory Gibson making his debut at the GH Nurses’ Ball in episodes that aired later in May. It was clear that during the conversation, Chad was a bit surprised that the GH brass decided to recast him when he thought he was just taking some much needed time off.
Burn-out of the daily grind of being on a soap was definitely a part of Chad’s decision to take a break. Duell explained “People know when you’re doing something for so long or your character is kind of in the same place for so long or doing the same stuff over and over again, you do get a a little burnt out, you get a little stiff, stale, a little stiff at times. I didn’t want that to be any sort of lasting impression. I have 15 years of a body of work of I’ve done on that show, which is fantastic.”

WHILE CHAD WAS AWAY GH RECAST MICHAEL CORINTHOS WITH RORY GIBSON
Chad shared, his mindset when leaving GH was, “I’m taking some time away, we’ll see what happens.” Then he added, “Obviously, they decided to go in a different direction with Michael when I was gone. I didn’t think they were going to bring somebody back in my place. But you know, it’s the business. You never know what can happen.”
Duell also shared he has not watched a single episode of General Hospital since he left the series, but now feels he reenergized following the loss of his father and stepping away from the GH, “I’m in a place now mentally, where I’m ready to sink my teeth into it again.”

Courtesy/ABC
Even though he is no longer Michael on GH, Chad was very happy with his final storyline where Michael was set on fire when a bomb exploded at Sonny’s (Maurice Benard) penthouse. “It was fun to put him in a dangerous situation, because I was wanting Michael to be in something scary instead of trying to be a hero character or just things happening around him, but to be the center point of tragedy happening to him. (I always saw) Michael as the heart of the (Corinthos) family.”
When Michael was badly burned the show chose not burn his face, which normally a soap does when they are recasting role and switching actors. Chad weighed-in, “They didn’t burn my face because I told Frank Valentini (EP, GH) I’m willing to come back. It was just a little bit of a break. So, I assumed that if they would have burned my face, they could have brought somebody back looking different than me… if that’s what their plan was.”

MEMORABLE MICHAEL STORYLINES
One of Chad’s most memorable performances was the in the storyline of Michael’s rape while he was sentenced to prison in 2010 and the confession of it in 2011. “It was so well-written and I was very nervous,” recalled Chad. “When I get really nervous about something, it ends up being really good when I do it, because it just means I care a lot about it”
“I have to put a lot of effort and work into it, and I really want it to be good. I was working with Dominic Zamprogna (Dante) and Steve Burton (Jason) a lot during those scenes, and Laura Wright (Carly). It was great working with Steve and Dominic, especially, during that storyline.
A NEW SOAP ROLE FOR CHAD?
As to a future soap opera role, Chad is open to the idea and would love to jump back in to a juicy role, “I know people over at The Bold and the Beautiful, and The Young and the Restless. They know that if they’re interested, I would love to come in for a screen test or something, and they can see what I’m doing.”
Meanwhile, Chad has been busy putting out new music under the moniker Duelly and during the interview he explains how he creates his EDM tracks and much more. You can stream his latest single, Static in the Quiet Room on Spotify, Apple Music and You Tube Music.
You can check out the full conversation with Chad Duell below.
Now let us know: what show would you like to see Chad cast on down the line? BTG, DAYS, B&B, Y&R, or a new role on GH? What did you think of his thoughts on the casting switch while he was away in the role of Michael? What was your favorite Michael storyline during Chad’s 15-year run on the ABC soap opera? General Hospital
GENERAL HOSPITAL: Ric’s History of Jealousy Where Elizabeth is Concerned Has Come Back Around

On General Hospital, Ric Lansing (Rick Heart) is about to fall back into dangerous old patterns by the foreshadowing during the Wednesday, August 19 episode. After first coming to see his brother, Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard) and telling him of his plan to propose to Elizabeth Webber (Rebecca Herbst) his longtime love tonight, Sonny has concerned.
Next, Sonny reminds his brother of what has happened in the past, when things have gone south with Elizabeth and wonders if it’s too soon for him to propose to her. What Ric did not tell Sonny is that he has seen the developing closeness between Sonny’s son, Dante (Dominic Zamprogna) and Elizabeth, which is propelling his urgent need to propose.
Meanwhile, Dante ran into Elizabeth at the park during a break from their mutual team softball games. She needs help with a bookcase after the game at her house. Dante wants to put it together for her. Later, Dante arrived at Elizabeth’s house, limping after injuring his knee during the game. Head nurse Liz wanted to check out the injury as much as Dante protested, which required him to take off his pants.

RIC BEGINS TO UNRAVEL
Outside Elizabeth’s widow, Ric arrives with a bouquet of roses and the engagement ring. When he leers through the widow he is shocked to see Elizabeth rubbing Dante’s leg while Dante is in his boxer/shorts. He storm troops into the house, demanding to know what is going on here? Both Elizabeth and Dante look surprised by his reaction. In the pick-up of today’s Thursday, August 20 episode (see GH video teaser below), viewers will learn the upshot for all three characters.
A VENGEFUL PAST
As longtime GH fans know, Ric has done some horrible, vengeful things in regards to Elizabeth starting back in 2003 after she lost her baby after Ric’s ex, Faith Rosco pushed her down a flight of stairs. Ric accused Sonny for the accident and to get revenge, Ric kidnapped Carly (who was married to Sonny at the time), and stashed her in a panic room below the house where he was living with Liz.
On top of that, Ric fed his wife Elizabeth birth control pills to keep her from getting pregnant so that they could raise Carly’s baby together after it was born. Eventually, Elizabeth found Carly in the panic room but ended up having a pulmonary embolism. When she woke up in the hospital, Elizabeth was all confused by what happened, and Ric convinced her that her vision of Carly was just a bad dream. Eventually, Elizabeth learned the horrifying truth and divorced Ric.
Years later, Ric noticed the connection between Elizabeth and “Jake Doe” who eventually turned out to be Drew (Billy Miller) A jealous Ric hired Hayden Barnes to show up and claim to be “Jake’s” wife. Elizabeth stepped aside, and when Ric planned to propose to Elizabeth at the 2015 Nurses Ball, Carly exposed his manipulations, and Elizabeth dumped him yet again. And those are just two examples of the lengths Ric will go to for Elizabeth!
So, we ask you, given the history of Elizabeth and Ric, how do you see this playing out with Dante in the picture? How will Ric derail their growing bond? Share your thoughts via the comment section below.
