Major participants are set, and the evil queen is back on-screen. Will she reveal all and help Jason (Billy Miller) hone in on his past? Will she reveal more on the kidnapping of Little Jake (James Nighbor)? Will she spill the beans on Liz (Rebecca Herbst) and Nikolas (Tyler Christopher) deception? Or, will she spin some tale, and no one will be the wiser?  That is the major showdown set up after the end of Thursday’s episode of GH, setting up Friday’s clffhanger!

As Liz and Sam (Kelly Monaco) get into a catfight with some much needed drink-throwing at each other on a plane, the two women who vie for the love of Jason – his fiancee’ and his wife – are on their way to help Jason with his search and to get answers to his past.  While they hurl insults and barbs at each other, played to perfection by Rebecca Herbst and Kelly Monaco, things are getting mighty serious on Cassadine Island. There, Nikolas is already on the scene trying to block Jason from gaining entrance to speak to a dying Helena (Constance Tower), who claims she is ready to join her beloved Mikos (but is it heaven, or in hell?).

Jason, with gun in tow happens upon Nikolas and is ready to plug the prince with a bullet, if he doesn’t take him to Helena. Nikolas does, and Helena who is bedridden is still extolling some of her digs and getting under Jason’s skin.  As she starts to tell Jason that she will inform him of the truth and her secrets regarding his past, her door bursts open revealing  some of her henchmen who have captured Liz and Sam.  Now it’s all for one and one for all against Helena?  What will Nikolas do now?

The action picks up today! What did you think of yesterday’s GH? Did you get a kick out of  the Sam and Liz  drink-throwing in the ai? Do you want this to be the end of the line for Helena? Will she say anything about Robin (Kimberly McCullough)?  Will any of this get straightened out so Jason can find some piece of mind?  Share your thoughts in the comment section below!

I want Jason to develop a split personality,,,by day he is D. Jason Quartamaine-lifesaver…at nite he is Jason-Dr.KILLdare Morgan mobster hitman-lifetaker…when the hospital is running low on patients its Jason KILLdare Morgan who sees to it that those hospital beds are full…only kidding-lol

Seriously, Helena dies or most likely not…and no matter if she lies or is truthful…Patrick will reunite with Robin and he will leave with her and go into hiding…Emma either will leave with them or remain with Anna…Robert Scorpio will help and he takes them away!…no matter if Jason ends up with Liz or Sam, he looses both ways…lol…Sonny and Carly and Jason will also be in a love triangle…no, the two men wont be fighting over Carly…Sonny and Carly will fight over Jason…BAM!…lol

LOL 🙂 Perhaps Patrick will learn that Robin knew of the attempt to take Emma before anyone told her about it; he could assume (since she can’t explain how she knew) that Robin is partly responsible somehow. And since it is unsafe to stay in Port Chuck, he takes off with Emma to stay safe.

what an awesome episode . I sure hope that Helena does die or leave the show. She probably needs a vacation . I also think she enjoys playing the role of Helena Cassadine. Constance is a great actress. I hope she can stay as long as her health allows.

The way I see it Liz and Jason are meant to be together . Sam well that is her hard luck. If Jason per the writers put him with Sam then I think they are fools.
The only two people that Liz worked well with on that show were Jason , the original one ,Lucky and Nikolas . So for what it is worth I think that Liz belongs with either Jason or Nikolas .

🙂 Awesome, Awesome Episode!!!!!

Do not kill of Helena! Great villain. That look she gave to Nikolas when she first said she was dying…I hope that means she’s really not.

Constance Towers is 82 years old and she wants to be done playing Helena (has for several years now). She was spectacular, IS spectacular. But it’s time for CT to enjoy her retirement. What a shame that the short-sighted, camp preferring, insulting and parody inducing writer who thought Roger Howarth would be better as Franco didn’t have the creativity to instead make him a Cassadine cousin that could have taken over for Helena. RoHo, GH and all its fans would have been in SUCH a better place for it.

Elizabeth–love that idea. Roger should have been a Cassadine or at least a Q.
He is wince inducing to watch right now–he acts lik Jack Tripper from Three’s Company. Worse yet, he acts bored as hell.
I remember I thought I Roger was the most brilliant soap actor of all time. If you told me back then that I would be fast forwarding through all of his scenes, I would have told you that you were crazy.
It doesn’t help that they are trying to force feed Franco and Nina on viewers over and over. They aren’t working, it’s time to move on before all the fans move on.

I don’t believe Helena’s dying. I don’t believe she will tell the full truth—only what she wants Jason to hear.

And if she’s joining Mikos soon, then I assume she had Robin raise that devil from the dead. No one stays dead on this show!!

I think it’s ridiculous to write grown women acting like two year olds. I was disgusted and am so disappointed and over this Jason thing I can no longer stomach it. Move it along already. It boring and repetitive and insulting to the audience at this point. Everyone in this story looks like a fool.
Honestly I wish Jason had never been recast.
I’ve been watching soaps for 40 years and have never seen such a mess made of any storyline.

I agree. To me, the only interesting story Jason had left to play was with MIchael and AJ. But they killed AJ off before he returned. What a waste. The Little Jake reunion could have been awesome but they turned Liz into a sociopath and made her child’s return a footnote in her delusion.

Sam is a better character without Jason. She just is. She had more life and independence when he was out of the picture. Carly just looks like a fool. You’re a 40-something woman with adult children. Stop stalking this man. Grow up!

The Helena scene was a joke. The only good thing about it was her cursing Sam. Other than that it was more stalling to a story no one cares about. It was poorly written and poorly paced. Absolutely nothing happened. Why can’t they rid us of this story once and for all? At least when the Fluke was done, it was DONE! This Jakeson crap is still going. Ugh.

It’s inaccurate to say a story “no one cares about.” I’m enjoying it…it hearkens back to the days when there was mystery surrounding Cassadine Island and the goings on there. Ultimately although I say that, it can live up to those glory days because the powers that be unwisely got rid of the majority of the insane asylum…but I think they’re attempting to recapture the intrigue.

Helena looks gorgeous…I’m rather upset she cursed Sam…and I understand why both Elizabeth and Sam felt the need to chase after Jason. Since nothing about this story is based in reality other than emotions… love, jealousy, insecurity, fear of abandonment…both women’s feelings and need to be the one Jason chooses when he finds himself again is understandable.

Can’t… not can…live up to those glory days

I have to agree with Rebecca, it’s inaccurate to say I one cares about the storyline cause I’m enjoying now that it has finally picked up, under RC the story dragged and played out horribly finally at least to me more tolleratable and although I hate what they’ve done to Liz I’ll hang on to hope she will be redeemed because it sure beats Liz being backbunner like she’s been in the past. And honestly Carly and Sam are way more annoying characters .

Helena will aim….and shoot these two dodo birds down in one
fell swoop. Delicious doesn’t begin to describe how wonderfully
fun this will be. Jason will get a few crumbs thrown his way, in
the name of “Robin”. Prince Nick better be nice otherwise she’ll
place his carcass at Jason’s feet.

loved the drink throwing it made me laugh and the fact they didn`t kill each was amazing as I expected a knock out fight on the plane. I doubt Constance Towers who plays Helena will leave it is just another way to tease us for February sweeps. Love love all this madness and cannot wait for more, Tony Geary being I actually don`t miss the character like I thought I did, it is not to say I do not miss him but so many other stories to keep us occupied we do not have time to miss TG.

Can’t wait until Liz is exposed as a liar. Knowing how nasty she has become, I’m sure that she has conveniently forgot her birth control pills. For how much I loved this character, that’s how much I hate her now !!!!

Me too! I want Liz’s lies exposed as well and for someone to give her a royal smackdown!. And if they stay true to Jason’s character, he won’t forgive her, at least not easily. He was never a fan of lying and manipulation. But then again, this iteration of Jason is nothing like he used to be.

It’s still difficult to except Billy as Jason, for me he’s Jake…

I want to see Carly’s reaction if she ever finds out Liz kept Jason from them deliberately.

Talk about EXPLOSIVE…….

Lol. Fur-flying; cartwheeling feline blast. Can’t wait!!!!!

I am surprised Carly has not figure that out yet. I remember her giving Lizzy some really odd looks when Lizzy kept frantically reminding everyone that it was the morphine which made Sonny call Jake Jason.
Oh Carly will give Lizzy the what for as only Carly can.

I’m still not giving up on old Liz, I too don’t like what she’s doing i have no idea why the writers have chosen to turn this character so desperate but like I said I’m not giving up, other characters have done worse and maybe our expectations aren’t as high for those other characters but I refuse to give up so I’ll hang on till she’s redeem, and if they don’t do that I’ll be puzzle as to why they would want to ruin such a popular beloved character, it just doesn’t make sense.

I understand, Aria.
I have always loved Lizzy too and her behavior lately has been sadly disappointing. The letter Audrey wrote to her somewhat explains Lizzy’s actions when she writes,”You never felt you were worthy of love.”
That’s no excuse for her insanely pathetic behavior.
The real love of Lizzy’s life has not been Jason, it’s been Lucky.

@Shay..Hi…you are so right… Only Helena/Constance can make
oxygen look fashionable. What a delight she is.. I read all your posts
and also agree w/ U on Kathleen/Dr.O needing to come back full time.
I’d love too see her and Monica duel it out a bit at the Hospital…

I have always found Helena to be a bit of a caricature of a villain. I think the actress’ portrayal is spot on but the writing and the plans she sets in motion and things she gets away with is kind of ridiculous. I don’t find her at all interesting.
But I love, love, love Dr. Obrecht!! She is fantastic and needs to be on screen more often. Give her a real story already!

@Tatiana…We needn’t agree on Helena. Dr. O. is also the one who really tickles my fancy….and funny bone! Kathleen Gati is absolutely magnificent as the menacing medica, and I was truly disappointed that her Liesl’s backstory was not more fully explored, replete with details of her “Swiss Sis,” Magda, nefarious romantic entanglements and relationships with her kinder…Perhaps they have simply been detained and not abandoned altogether, as “Die Obrecht” is a comedic and dramatic marvel, non pareil! This multi-talented lady—and multi-dimensional character—deserve to return to front burner status and here’s to that happening sooner rather than later….maybe in the form of a Christmas tour de force??? Yes, please!

Shay, I do agree with you that Kathleen Gati is a treasure. She could have gone down as one of soap’s greatest villains if the writing for her character had been steadfast and exploratory.
I just felt it was a colossal mistake to make her the chief of staff. Making this sadistic, kidnapping criminal the chief of staff was as foolhardy as making Fonzie a college professor.
Dr O, when she was lurking in the catacombs with her boyfriend Faison, was at her dark best. She always reminded me of Frau Blucher from Young Frankenstein. “Yes, he was my boyfriend!” Just once, I’d like to hear Dr O say that in regards to Faison. I wonder if Kathleen Gati plays the violin?

@Fanny…..This is true, Fanny. Helena makes evil seem downright chic! Always love her returns to the GH canvas. As for our beloved Dr. O?…..She’s been quite neglected as of late….I hope she makes a holiday comeback worthy of her considerable comedic and dramatic capabilities! Hmmmm……wonder if Britt may also favor us with a surprise appearance for the Christmas gala? I’m sure Brad and she could find plenty of fashion faux-pas upon which to make snarky remarks! (Jackpot!!!!!…LOL.)

Constance Towers is sublime for sure. I fondly remember her as Niles and Frasier Crane’s piano teacher who seduced them both when they were her under aged pupils. Fraiser meets up with her later and finds he is still attracted to this older woman, and hits on her. Constance’s character tells Frasier that he is now too old for her! HA!
Loved her appearance on Frasier. She is well adept at playing comedic roles as seen with her approach to playing Helena.
I also love that naked portrait of a very young Helena which is now hanging in her bedroom.
I recall that Luke once had that portrait of a nude Helena hanging in his Blues Club for all to see.

Harry…I remember something about Luke having a nude Helena portrait.

Never saw the Frasier episode with Katherine Gati…but they must have aged her for the role…in reality Kelsey Grammar is 60 and she’s 57.

Double mistake! Auto spell…Kathleen…not. Katherine.

My error…you were talking about Constance Towers.

Sigh. I think knowing Patrick Drake has left the building caused the mix up!

First, what a surprise to see Shawn! secondly, the Dragon Lady is alive and kicking! It was great! I am really pleased with the new writers at this short point in their tenure. They are writing what we want to see and waited for some time! December should be just as good as I feel Jason will know who he is, Emma will see her mother return and Anna will get a big hug from Robert!

My sentiments exactly.

Mine too.

I do believe Shawn may be coming back, my Timmmbo. Why else would he make an appearance? Perhaps the fans’s appellations and supplications worked.
As far as Helena, with your so-apt moniker? What if she makes a complete reversal and turn out to be PC’s guardian angel? With a brand new, shiny halo? No? Not good?

I would welcome Shawn back! It might get a little too cozy with Jason being back, though. Shawn could go out on his own. I just dont like him and Jordan together. She can act but I dont care for her!

Helena, they have never tried to redeem any of her evilness. Maybe she makes a turn only because she is dying and once shes out of the woods, back to being evil. My prediction is she will “Die” soon and take info with her that Jason needs to know. I hope the new writers keep this Jason story going! I bet you my last cup of coffee Billy Miller will not be on the show in 2017! He is too talented to stick around. Nothing against the soaps, they are a proving ground for actors who REALLY want to act but they dont pay like the night time gigs. Anyway, to make a long story long, Helena will go away and yes, come back some other day!

@Timmm.
Ahh, Timmm. I wasn’t even close to being serious about Helena. LOL. No one that evil could ever be redeemed or enjoy life without doing what she does best: …..bring the worst kind of destruction upon someone’s head. And, her curses? There are still parts of the western, seemingly ‘civilized’ world ( folklore) who still believe in the power of a curse ‘bestowed’ by the right witch. Trust me, I have Scandinavian blood , lol. The ‘elders’ still believe in Norse evil doers (the Volva–Freyia, Seior etc), despite their Chritian beliefs. Ironically, my family members can mentally compartmentalize their beliefs ( R. Catholic and pagan) and separate them, neatly, with pretty bows. Then, there are the (folklore) Italians who have all these signs and rituals to keep away evil spirits. They believe in the “mal’occhio”, meaning: the evil eye. So they recite words (the older generation…grandparents) to thwart the curse/spell which may have been put on a family member. What I find amazing, Timmm, is that these people believe that anyone can put a curse on someone….without being a witch; all it takes is an evil mind. I suppose it’s more referred to as voodoo.

I can see how Shawn and Jason, on stage together, could cause a tug of war, no matter how friendly. Ego? Perhaps. I don’t know, Timmm. I think that if we are dealing with Jason Quartermaine, and NOT, Jason Morgan, then, there should not be so much of a rivalry or struggle. I get what you’re saying, Timmm. Billy Miller will probably not last….he’s too great an actor. However, it does depend upon his thirst to try and take a bite of everything that’s out there, primetime or cinematography, available and for the taking. It’s the logical path to take. On the other hand, there are those soap actors/actresses who are happy to just stay put. I wish!
Nonetheless, and please do not shoot me for being a downer, soaps are becoming obsolete. So, these thespians are being smart by getting on their horse and ride out of Dodge. Later.

Sadly, every day this story drags on is another day too long. The actors are great but they are fighting an uphill battle to maintain interest. This was an epic missed opportunity to bring Billy Miller on board and return Jason in a dynamic story arc. Long live GH!

I doubt Helena will give her grandson’s secret away. It is sooo not Helena to betray blood. Am I misguided about that? Liz? That’s iffy. I would think that by giving her away, she would also inadvertently implicate Nik. As far as Sam, albeit she was not deceitful in this case, Helena may make up a story just to throw Sam under the bus. Haven’t Alexis and daughter been a thorn in Helena’s side forever? However, if that were the case, then all this contrition would be for naught.
I would love, love, love to have more Helena and Dr. O for dessert. They are THAT delicious to watch!

PS. Shay? Thanks for correcting me…Helena did say, “tweedlee dum and dumber”…not tweedlee dee. So tired, at the end of the day…..(this week)
Yes, Helena looked splendid, languidly ‘draped’ in regal hauteur, even on her deathbed, as you noted, ….her sardonic humor still intact. And those black sheets and bed-board, the perfect Elvira backdrop. So witchy!! Her domicile is certainly fit for the Mythological Greek Hecate. ‘Gotta’ run, sweetie…..later.

hey CeeCee ..
No more dead Cassadine !!
The Cassadine’s were the exciting intriguing family, they rocked!!
I want all of the great Cassadine’s back!
Helena must live on!!
Nikolas and Helena is all that is left of the Cassadine Empire..
Helena is a treasure, pure gold !!!

Get with times su0000

Hey, susu.
I’m not sure what Les means, su. To be honest, I’d rather see Helena or Victor than Sonny. But you also love Sonny.
I would love to make a retort about Sonny, but, alas, if I start? I will lose myself. Lol.
It’s ok to disagree, Suzie Q. We’re friends!!!! ‘Nite, babes.

Me again! Something went wrong and the rest of the message was never published. It must have been that darn smiley face I tried using. So …

Get with the times su0000! LOL!!! The Cassidines are so old school

Sam needs info out of Helena and Sam berates her! How dumb! Helena [Elizabeth Taylor] did put a curse on L&L and they have had nothing but bad Luck[Y]!

Another thing, Helena was dying years ago, I can still see her talking to Luke with oxygen pumping through her nose and she sprung back to life! NEVER count Helena out!

Have a good weekend sweetie!

@Timmm… I had forgotten all about the “Original” curse until U
mentioned it…Oh my!! all Sam’s done is raise Helena’s evilness
to next level..No good will come of this… If she was on her “Death
Bed” Sam just gave Helena a reason to live, and wreck havoc galore.
Watch out Elizabeth your next on her list… Saving Jason for last.

Hi, Timmm.
…always welcome your replies. I do hope Helena does ‘recuperate’….I really dig her and relish within her twisted aura. Too funny.
As KansaGuest says, Helena is about control. The stage is set. She will only give ‘this’ much to these mere puppets who ask questions to which they will never get straight answers…..just one riddle after another.
You enjoy your week-end, too. Luv-ya.

I think Les was making a joke predicated upon the fact that it’s usually Su00 telling us to “get with the times” and to stop living in the acid washed decade of the 80’s.

Hey, CeeCeeGirl! Even though we are both inveterate proofreaders, I only inadvertently corrected you….I was simply thinking of Helena’s rapier sharp delivery of that line when I typed it….so I guess you’re not the only one who was tired!!! Even though I adore this time of the year, it is always a full-on, packed few months. (Hope you are having a wonderful time in “the city!”) As for Sam’s granny, she was Mikkos’ mistress, which explains Helena’s utter antipathy for Alexis and Ms. Morgan. Hmmmm….I wonder if the Davidovich (the original surname of Ms. Davis….) matriarch was also prone to “letting it all hang out up-top,” since that seems to be a family trait, and was that the initial draw for the elder Cassadine???? No wonder Helena has such contempt for all of them! LOL.

Please close the Cassadine chapter for good! Why this family remains in play and the Quartermaines have been decimated makes no sense to me. I want the sci fi out-of-this world madness to be over. It was novel in the early 1980s with the weather-control machine and Ice Princess but the freezing and international hijinks have grown tired. Please phase this out. Of course, Helene;s death surely will unlock some other plot line. I just hope it is a worthy one.

Helena is all about control. That woman isn’t giving anything up. If she tells the truth, she’ll spin it to her own benefit. And, she’d never betray Nikolas, especially now that he’s acting like a “true Cassadine” (her words). She may not like being confined. But, she loves that Nik has finally turned to the Dark Side. If she throws anyone under the bus to save Nik, it will be Elizabeth or Robin. Helena probably wishes she had something on Sam. But, since Sam would rather die than cooperate w/Helena, she knows that would never fly. So, Sam’s in the clear & Liz & Robin better watch out.

Well Billy Miller is getting his Steve Burton glare down pat– LOL.

Not sure what tale Helena can spin since viewers know the whole story behind Jake Jason there isn’t much suspense for us. Of course she could out Liz and Nik but I doubt it.

At first I was rooting for Liz, but now I can’t wait for her lies to be exposed. My goodness any woman that desperate to hold a man needs some serious time with PC’s new shrink.

I saw all the Billy Miller years on Y&R. It’s hard not to like the guy. The Jake is Jason story has really gotten better for me since he now knows who he is but has no memory of being him. I’m also digging the story with Hayden and her efforts to find out who tried to kill her and her working with Tracy to get ELQ back from Nicholas. Though it seems Jason is about to take care of that. Having only seen the RH as Franco, i’m even liking the stuff with him and Nina and Kiki. Having watched the JP&SA year or so on Y&R maybe i’m just easy to please but i’m enjoying watching GH again.

Helena has more lives than my brother’s two cats.

Helena’s dying? Do not believe that woman will stay dead. If she could arrange for the demented Stavros to be brought back to life then she can do the same for herself.

I am at the point where I just can’t with this show any more.

Jason just dropping out of the ceiling on a rope. Liz and Sam reduced to beverage tossing harpies fighting over who will get to make a mob enforcer the full time daddy to their kid (somebody needs to call Child Protective Services on these two brainiacs). And somehow everyone got to Cassadine Island in the blink of an eye.

I think the biggest surprise is that Sonny wasn’t somehow shoe-horned into this mess ’cause you know, the world revolves around him…

Are you a new viewer of the show? I ask that as a serious question, meaning no disrespect. Dropping out of the ceiling is something Anna and Robert used to do back in the old days with the WSB all the time, among many other characters. So Jason is hardly the first.

To each his own, and I’m sorry you’re not enjoying the show. Personally, I’m enjoying the adventure. It’s something the show has been lacking. It has an old school feeling to it. Reminds me of a Luke and Laura adventure from the early 80s with the Cassadine’s, except involving current characters.

I did have to laugh at the Child Protective Services line, though. That was funny and so true, especially of the way Elizabeth handles her kids. Carly too for that matter. Hopefully there aren’t too many women out there taking cues on how to be a good mother from the ladies of Port Charles, lol.

Not a new viewer, just a bored one.

The randomly dropping out of the ceiling thing defies logic and the ridiculousness of it instantly draws me out of the story (yes, I know Anna and Robert used to do it and it annoyed me then, too). I don’t understand why it would have been any less dramatic for Jason to scale the side of the Cassadine compound and climb in a window…

Agree with all you said Josh. I posted above how this hearken back to the ol’ school adventures. Don’t know if they’ll be able to pull it off…but Helena…in all her glory, is the last remnant of that era. I wouldn’t mind some resurrected Cassadines popping up on the island…or at least some good flashbacks!

I hear ya, Allen. Sometimes I think we acclimate too readily to mediocrity and suddenly we wake up and say,’Hey, why am I watching this drivel?”
What got me about Jason coming down the on the rope was you didn’t really see him do it–they just cut to where he jumps down from the rope. I think Billy Miller may not have the physical prowess which Steven Burton possesses (or Finola Hughes for that matter, she can really shimmy down a rope).
I also thought Miller looked a little wobbily on Jason’s motorcycle.

Lol, Alan. There must be a shortage of Child Protective Services reps in PC. Avery certainly is in dire need of one. Exemplar parents, that girl has. Soon, Ava’s apartment will turn into a bordello. And, Sonny abode is spread bullet-riddled.
Can’t say anything good about Liz and Sam either. Those poor kids have been exposed to how many men, walking in and out of their lives? No wonder soap kids all have issues.
As I have mentioned on another site regarding the courtroom shenanigans going on at Sonny’s and Ava’s custody hearing……the jesters came in 1-2-3 to entertain…..as Paul Rodgers sings, ” yo mama’s calling, but you’re having fun….” I enjoyed it to the nth degree.
Where was Avery’s Guardian Ad Litem? Every child in a custody battle needs one….especially a child born to riches.
You’re forgetting the wheelchair, Alan…..the world now revolves around Sonny and his bloody wheelchair. I wish someone would somehow sabotage that wheelchair….do something to its brakes; take Sonny for a ‘stroll’, to the edge of a precipice. Lol. Sometimes, Alan, there’s this tiny, mean imp in my head, forcing me to say these things. Honest!!. Lol.

Correction.So frustrating…..should read:, Sonny’s abode is already bullet-riddled.

And adding to your premise that Port Charles is in need of CPS, little Emma was left alone in the park so some creepy woman could kidnap her.

Au contraire Harry…she had Little Lord Painterly, ala, Spencer …til he dashed off.

Fauntleroy!

Even if Helena is “dying,” she will never die…. Luke shot her point-blank in the head and she came back….

Saw todays show and now I find out Sam’s grandmother is the reason behind all this woman’s scorned ways. Liz is in trouble and about to loose what she never had.
Can’t wait till Monday.

Helena isn’t Sam’s grandmother. Helena is the wife of Sam’s grandfather, Mikkos Cassadine. Mikkos’ longtime mistress who bore him two children – Alexis Davis & her late sister, Christina – was Sam’s real grandmother. Helena actually murdered Alexis’ mom in cold blood when Alexis was a child. I think she witnessed it. Helena would have killed the girls, too, if Mikkos hadn’t sent them off to boarding school overseas.

Alexis’s mother had a love affair with Helena’s husband. Thus, Alexis was born…making her, in Helena’s eyes, the illegitimate Cassadine and arch enemy…and thus Sam, Alexis’s daughter.

Yep–Helena slit Alexis’s mother’s throat. There was poetic irony in the fact that Mikko’s mistress was a brilliant opera singer who sang soprano.

I just want Liz to be found out already.
Loved Helena putting a curse on Sam. pretty funny.
I swear this story is dragging out too long though. With the big reveal, thought we’d sort of wrap this up.
How does Liz dump all her kids get time off?
Did Jason drive to Oregon, then fly to Greece in a minute’s notice? It’s still the same day in PC!
How did Nicholas get to Greece so fast?
So many ridiculous moments on this show.

Excellent questions, Ces! Especially about Nik! Ever since his evil side emerged, I’ve been partial to the notion that perhaps he had a twin—even unbeknownst to his own mother, Laura—and that Helena kept him for herself to “school” in the darker ways of the Cassadines, much like she has been wreaking her poison on “Little Jake,” and that the real Prince Nicky has been hidden away all this time and replaced with the “Bad Nik.” I realize it may sound a bit far-fetched, but then again, this is Helena of whom we’re speaking! I’ve just had a very hard time accepting this “Nasty Nik”….he makes my skin crawl, and his “thing” with Hayden makes me want to lose my lunch. They are soooo unappealing as a couple….too rude and raunchy for my taste.

Well, Shay, my ‘loverly’, our thoughts are not so far apart. While you believe Nik to have a ‘hidden away’ twin for all these years; therefore now emerging as the bad twin…..I had mentioned that Helena put a chip in Nikolas’s brain to make him dance to her tune. No, considering with whom we are dealing, not too far fetched, at all.
So, not only is Sam an illegitimate ( I want to have some class, and not call her bastard, Ha!) spawn of a mobster, Alexis is also the product of a morally dubious parentage, who coincidentally happened to have met her seducer ( ten years her junior) at boarding school? Got it!!
Nik and Hayden are raunchy….agreed, but hot and sexy in bed, for now. I am sure I will tire watching them after a while, Shay. Do not get me wrong; not my cup of coffee laced with Bailey’s. Lol. Too stubby in stature for my taste….I like the tall, lean, but toned type, lol. Besides, I never found this prince good looking. Just my opinion. Buonasera, carissima.

Correction: To have HAD a ‘hidden….’

i would love to see sam win jason and liz found out what nic and her did and go to another story line please writers do it

Okay, time to bring back Robert Kelker-Kelly’s nut job Stavros. I mean, why should he not witness the supposed death of her “Royal Highness” Helena the Queen of the Vipers.

I am appreciating the humor bits on the show; the contained cat-fight on the plane was funny. I am giggling over some of the one-liners the writers have been throwing around lately: Helena’s “tweedle dum and dumber” – Franco’s to the psychologist to check Dr. O’s file for some fun, and his “reward card” for frequent stays in lockup are a few that come to mind!

I enjoy the surprises of old faces popping up on screen, too.

Love the humor… Helena’s dumb and dumber line, as well as delivery, was hilarious…and Roger is killing it as Franco!

Rebecca, Helena was devilishly funny for sure.
And yes, Roger’s killing it all right.

LOL Harry…paleeez. believe me when I say that so knew when I phrased it that way I left the door wide open for your Roger as Franco rancor. S’okay. I luv my Franco!

The episode was very good and I loved it when Sam and Liz got into it on the plane but the one thing wrong in this story is how we are supposed to believe that Helena is dying. That bitch has something up her sleeve and when that unfolds, it’s going to be good. I love the show right now!!!

No, I think Helena has something up her nose.

Lol, Harry. Helena is a vampire; so whatever is flowing through that cannula is not oxygen…..must be colorless blah-od.

PLEASE…PLEASE…PLEASE let this be the end of Helena!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Constance Towers is a beautiful woman, but I doubt she needs these paycheques. The character ceased being relevant about 15 years ago. When she was an antagonist to Luke and Laura, that made sense. But ever since, the character has NO motivation or reason for anything she does. 85 year old women do not walk around shooting their family, slitting people’s throats, kidnapping people for NO reason, issuing pointless vague threats, etc. She pops up once or twice a year, kidnaps someone, makes idle threats, and then disappears. Evil for the sake of evil is never interesting, or entertaining, or well thought out. Helena has become a cartoon…A go-to villain when writers lack the creativity to think of ANYTHING else. Instead of writing real, relatable stories, in which human beings are involved, writers always resort to Helena as the only agent of explaining things. Like the Robin situation. The show had a goldmine there. A legacy character with HIV, involved in a complicated but loving relationship with a fellow doctor…there could have been any number of reasons why they couldn’t continue their marriage…reason’s that have fuelled entire seasons of medical based primetime shows! but no, they faked yet another death, had it be Helena involved in another kidnapping, all in the hopes that Kimberly McCullough might return to the role one day. Soaps don’t have that luxury of time anymore. Back in the heyday of soaps, writers had to carefully consider what they did with popular actors and long term characters, because there was no indication that the soaps would ever die. Writing characters off in a non permanent way became prevalent, so the presumed death was a favourite choice. These days, write them off in a way that makes sense NOW. Don’t worry if they will want to come back in 2 or 3 years when other things don’t work out for them. Days of our Lives has just killed legacy character Bo. for real, he is dead. As much as I do NOT like the fact that he died, the story needed SOME form of closure, so it was done. Now that Days is back to a more realistic writing style, personally, I would feel very betrayed, cheated, and jerked around if two years down the road, Peter Reckell chose to return and the show concocted some outlandish twist to reveal that Bo didn’t die, that it was all staged, or an ISA mission, or something. These shows do a real disservice to their own fabric and to the fans when they twist and botch stories to accommodate a past performer’s return. Rarely do these high profile, probably costly returns pay off in the ratings, other than temporary bumps. You can’t even call them spikes anymore, because soaps don’t have the Nielsen peaks and valleys they once had. When we had 12-14 soaps, there was a lot of jockeying among the #2-7 positions. Number one has been consistent since 1987 with Young and the Restless. Now that there are four soaps, and the ratings stay BASICALLY the same (Days and GH flip flop for fourth place), nothing can really be done to dramatically raise or lower ratings in a permanent way. Get rid of Helena…let her have her swan song, explain why she thrives on terrorizing people, and let her DIE. On screen. Tie up the loose ends and move on. There are any number of villains that can be brought back, although on GH, most of them SERIOUSLY wore out their welcome during or before Ron Carlivati. It’s lazy writing to keep having Helena return, to have her as an omnipresent threat in the background, and to have her replace real human motivation and interaction. Although just this ONCE, I do wish she was the reason behind Nikolas suddenly turning so dark and evil. I hoped she was holding Emily or some other beloved character, forcing Nikolas to do bad things. I hoped she told Nikolas she would harm Robin if he didn’t do her bidding. And even though it would be So been-there done that, I hoped she had employed some form of mind control on him. I would even accept her replacing the real Nikolas with come cryogenically created cyborg clone Nikolas. His personality shift was too swift, too sudden, too jarring, and makes NO sense whatsoever. Why does he have this obsessive need for ELQ? He has enough money to just start his own business. Or why does he even need a business? He has money. Unless there is SOME real explanation for Nik’s behaviour, and not just “oh, I embraced the Cassadine dark side that has always been inside of me”, then the character is completely ruined for me. Overnight, people do not go from basically morally decent upstanding men to needless corporate espionage, lying, ordering hits on people, and engaging in kinky inappropriate sexual relationships. This is similar to how EVERY DiMera on Days of our Lives has to be bad at some point just because they are a DiMera. That again is lazy and predictable writing, and complete hogwash. I have heard stories of some pretty messed up things some of my ancestors did, and I’m not walking around all tormented and tortured and conflicted “Oh, woe is me, what if I become like them? This ever present darkness lurking in my lineage and bubbling through my bloodline is threatening to overwhelm me. Whatever shall I do?” It’s rubbish, and only used to turn formerly good characters into evil ones. That is rarely interesting. To anyone who claims that evil characters are always more entertaining than good ones, this proves how untrue that is. I loved Nikolas the good guy, the hero. He has just enough flaws to be compelling, but was at heart a genuinely good, nice guy. Everyone wants to believe in the dashing hero coming along to save his fair lady in distress. Everyone wants happy endings. We saw Luke go down a very grim, dark road, until fans were actually grateful when he left the show!! The same thing will happen to Nik unless he is redeemed soon, and SOME valid explanation is offered for his behaviour. even if they brought up his brain tumour which almost killed him and caused him to have apparitions of Emily as a reason for his actions. It worked for serial killer Franco, it could work for Nik.

Wow–this post is spot on, Dylan. Well done–I agree with you.
How indeed did Nikolas go from point A to point Z?
He was always the good one–it was said he took after his mother. Now he truly is the dark prince but the question arises–why? How did he get here?
Meanwhile, you have an evil sociopathic serial killer named Franco, who suddenly is Father Knows Best. How did he get here? They tried to blame the all convenient brain tumor but they kind of gave up on that premise. I usually fast forward through the hideous spectacle that is Franco and Nina but I messed up and heard Gumby (Nina) say while gesturing frantically, “Franco is a good, heroic and selfless man.” Aside from the horrible dialogue, this also demonstrates that good writing shows and doesn’t tell. They have not shown us how Franco went from bad to good or how Nikolas went from good to bad–there is a startlingly lack of character development. Ron started this crappolla approach to writing and I am afraid the new team is carrying that campy torch.
I continue to believe that Frank and the ABC executive suits are the main problem.

Harry…we l know we have to suspend our disbelief when watching soaps. There are so many ludicrous and-or fantastical happenings that I guess it’s objective what irks us the most…what we can or can’t watch…enjoy.

I always loved Nicolas. I love his princely demeanor. There was something rather endearing in his polite persona. I love how he tried to do the right thing, detested the evil in his family, resisted Helena. I found it completely out of character that he would put out a hit on Hayden, or that Liz could continue to go along with their scheme once she found out. (As if what she was doing wasn’t bad enough.)

I’m still wondering if Helena has inflicted her mind control on Nicolas.

Bar that, we are to assume that this has been a gradual downfall. He did, actually, sleep with Liz…over and over again, falling madly in love with his brothers true love…deceiving Lucky over and over again. I found that rather heinous at the time. He’s also suffered the loss of Emily, then Courtney, was duped, disappointed and brokenhearted over Britt, lost Stefan, Liz, Laura was gone…he lived with his lunatic father for a while before killing him…I’m guessing wer’e to assume being good got him nowhere and he’d finally fallen into such despair he defiantly decided to pick up the Cassadine gauntlet and attack rather than play victim.

As reprehensible as I find his latest behavior…and I’m hoping they redeem him shortly, I find it almost more credible than Michael completely returning to Sonny…though I understand he still loves him and his current physical state would bring Michael back. But yet he never mentions AJ anymore…he continues to praise his “father’s” love and devotion to him, somehow ignoring once again he was only able to do so because he robbed AJ the opportunity to be that father.

I also cannot fathom how Carly conveniently forgot that Franco attempted to kill Heather for her and was the ONLY one who looked for her, relentlessly, when Heather kidnapped. her. Sonny didn’t lift a finger to find her…which was also out of character…but Franco tirelessly searched for her and almost died saving her. Yet, she cheated on him. Left him for Sonny. Broke his heart. Yet SHE hates HIM! A man who saved her life…but marries Sonny, who threatened to kill her if Olivia died.

Franco has never been portrayed as the murderous lunatic he was written as for James Franco. Once again we have to suspend our disbelief. This was easier for some of us to do. It has been for me…because although the name’s the same I don’t see them as the same character. What bothered me more was that they wrote this incarnation as an infantile moron. Somehow, they matured him intellectually and emotionally…and I love this version. They retained his edge which comes out when need be, but he has been heroic for Carly…Nina and now Kiki. I hope they start integrating him more into the canvas,,,perhaps they will if they focus more on the hospital and if he gets back to art therapy. Perhaps he’ll have Anna drawing stick figures and figure out she killed Carlos. Now THAT’S funny. I so amused myself on that one…. 🙂

So well put, Harry! (And Dylan, too….) Especially the part about enervating Nina, and to a lesser extent, the increasingly pointless Franco…at least when he takes part in tandem antics with her! I simply cannot tolerate the combination of these two “problem children” characters together onscreen….it’s become so off-putting—like witnessing a horrible car crash— that it defies logic as to why either of these misfit characters remains on the GH canvas. “Hideous spectacle” really and truly says it all!

Please get that horrible — Elizabeth off the air. Shame on your writers to keep her around to make the viewer suffer.

GH and OLTL Alum Patrick J. Gibbons Reveals the Story Behind Writing Trina’s Song on ‘General Hospital’ (Exclusive)

Patrick J. Gibbons

At the conclusion of today’s August 21 episode of General Hospital, Trina Robinson (Tabyana Ali) sings a lullaby to baby Dez, that went into a montage to close out the episode as her father Curtis Ashford (Donnell Turner) reports to Pentonville and winds up in his jail cell.

However, in a fun fact, the song entitled, “A Lonely Heart To Give” was actually written by none other than former One Life to Live and General Hospital actor, Patrick J. Gibbons.

Daytime fans first met Gibbons as Sam Manning on One Life to Live. At the time, when he started on the soap, he was just 5-years-old. Gibbons played the part from 2010-2013 on ABC and Prospect Park’s editions of the show. Fast-forward to 2018, Gibbons shows up on General Hospital as Wyatt Hoover, the scout who seemed always be injured, but in the thick of the drama. Patrick had appeared on GH multiple times as Wyatt including: 2018, 2019, 2021, 2022, 2023.

FROM HIS GRANDMOTHER’S DEATH CAME THE INSPIRATION FOR HIS SONG

Now in 2026, General Hospital fans are getting to learn about another side of Gibbons’ talent as a songwriter and guitar player after “A Lonely Heart to Give” debuted today! Michael Fairman TV caught up with Patrick, who is now a senior at Penn State entering his final year as a finance major, to get the back-story of how his song wound up on GH!

Gibbons explained he wrote the song in honor of his grandmother who passed away a few years ago with whom he was, very, very close with. “Randomly, my grandmother had a downfall and passed away during the second semester of my sophomore year. I was in my dorm a lot and I was just playing with my guitar. And at the time, I was really into finger-style playing. I wrote the lyric and music to it (with a little help from my guitar teacher Lou), and my mom showed the rough demo to Frank Valentini (EP, General Hospital). He’s like an uncle to me. Frank loved it so much he said, “Finish that up. I want to hear the whole thing, and I want it on the show.”

MAKING MUSIC FOR GENERAL HOSPITAL

Gibbons and his parents took the next steps! “So now, all we needed was a female voice, because I thought that would fit the song well,” Patrick shared. “At the golf club we go to my parents were at a dinner. They liked the singer that was performing and spoke to her about the song, and she says she would like to bring it to her ‘boss’ who ended up being Eric Bazilian of the Hooters fame!” (Bazilian also wrote the smash hit song “One of Us” for Joan Osborne).

Next, “We went in the studio and recorded it and the song came together and it was beautiful. We loved it. They loved it at General Hospital and now they’re putting it the show and they are coming in with a piano, instead of a guitar. Paul Glass, the GH musical director, has been keeping us updated over the last six months of how it was coming along, and when it would air, and how GH put their own arrangement to it. I can’t wait to see and hear what they did with it.”

PATRICK’S ONE LIFE TO LIVE FAMILY

Everyone knows that the One Life to Live extended family share a very tight bond, and Patrick said he does stay in touch with a few of his former One Life to Live co-stars, especially those from the Manning family! “I stayed in touch with Kassie DePaiva (ex-Blair) and sent her little videos here and there. She was like my second mom for five years. We keep in contact with Kristen Alderson (ex-Starr) over X the most, and she can’t believe how big I’ve gotten. Like, none of them can! (laughs). I also loved working with Roger Howarth (ex-Todd) and Trevor St. John (ex-Todd and Victor Jr.), and to me since I was so young, they were just my friends, ‘Roger and Trevor,’ not Todd Manning or Victor Jr.”

It was a trip to California and a visit to Port Charles that ultimately led to Gibbons second soap role of Wyatt Hoover. Patrick explains, “In 2016, Frank Valentini invited us out to Los Angeles to visit the set of General Hospital. I think he heard me say, ‘This is so much fun. I miss being on the set.’ He goes, ‘You should come out. I’ll bring you on the show. We can make you a character.'”

A few years later, Patrick’s dream became a reality! “Then, by the summer of 2018, I was playing Wyatt, the scout, and shared scenes with Wes Ramsey (Peter August), and the best was when I shared a scene with Roger Howarth and Michael Easton (ex-John, OLTL and ex-Silas, Finn et al, GH), it was like chemistry from the old days.”

IT’S ALL IN THE NUMBERS

As to his future aspirations, it’s a career in the finance game that has piqued Gibbons’ real-life interest. But never say never to a return to acting. Patrick explained, “I’ve always enjoyed numbers. And on top of that, one of the biggest parts of finance is being personable and outgoing.”

He continued, “That’s one of the greatest skills I developed growing up. I really love the markets. I’m super interested. I’m never going to close the door to acting. I’m always open to that because I just love it so much. It’s such a great art.”

Take note! If there are any investment bankers or private equity folks among the GH faithful looking for a young analyst next year, Patrick’s DMs are open. You can find him on X at @PatrickJGibbons.

So, what did you think of the song sung by Trina on today’s GH that was written by Patrick J. Gibbons? Did you enjoy Patrick’s performances as One Life’s Sam and GH’s Wyatt? Would you like to see him back on GH at some point? Let us know via the comment section.

‘General Hospital’ Alum Chad Duell Admits That He Didn’t Expect the Role of Michael Corinthos to be Recast, and Would Consider Working on Another Soap (Exclusive)

Published

on

By

Chad Duell, the Daytime Emmy-winning actor, who stepped away from the pivotal role of Michael Corinthos on General Hospital, opened up about: his previous decision to leave the series after nearly 15 years, where’s he’s at now after time away from the demands of a daytime soap opera, and took a stroll down memory lane with some of Michael’s most-acclaimed storyline during his run, during a livestream chat on August 19 on You Tube’s Michael Fairman Channel.

Viewers last saw Duell on-screen as Michael in January of 2025, and with his successor in the role, Rory Gibson making his debut at the GH Nurses’ Ball in episodes that aired later in May. It was clear that during the conversation, Chad was a bit surprised that the GH brass decided to recast him when he thought he was just taking some much needed time off.

Burn-out of the daily grind of being on a soap was definitely a part of Chad’s decision to take a break. Duell explained “People know when you’re doing something for so long or your character is kind of in the same place for so long or doing the same stuff over and over again, you do get a a little burnt out, you get a little stiff, stale, a little stiff at times. I didn’t want that to be any sort of lasting impression. I have 15 years of a body of work of I’ve done on that show, which is fantastic.”

WHILE CHAD WAS AWAY GH RECAST MICHAEL CORINTHOS WITH RORY GIBSON

Chad shared, his mindset when leaving GH was, “I’m taking some time away, we’ll see what happens.” Then he added, “Obviously, they decided to go in a different direction with Michael when I was gone. I didn’t think they were going to bring somebody back in my place. But you know, it’s the business. You never know what can happen.”

Duell also shared he has not watched a single episode of General Hospital since he left the series, but now feels he reenergized following the loss of his father and stepping away from the GH, “I’m in a place now mentally, where I’m ready to sink my teeth into it again.”

Even though he is no longer Michael on GH, Chad was very happy with his final storyline where Michael was set on fire when a bomb exploded at Sonny’s (Maurice Benard) penthouse. “It was fun to put him in a dangerous situation, because I was wanting Michael to be in something scary instead of trying to be a hero character or just things happening around him, but to be the center point of tragedy happening to him. (I always saw) Michael as the heart of the (Corinthos) family.”

When Michael was badly burned the show chose not burn his face, which normally a soap does when they are recasting role and switching actors. Chad weighed-in, “They didn’t burn my face because I told Frank Valentini (EP, GH) I’m willing to come back. It was just a little bit of a break. So, I assumed that if they would have burned my face, they could have brought somebody back looking different than me… if that’s what their plan was.”

MEMORABLE MICHAEL STORYLINES

One of Chad’s most memorable performances was the in the storyline of Michael’s rape while he was sentenced to prison in 2010 and the confession of it in 2011. “It was so well-written and I was very nervous,” recalled Chad. “When I get really nervous about something, it ends up being really good when I do it, because it just means I care a lot about it”

“I have to put a lot of effort and work into it, and I really want it to be good.  I was working with Dominic  Zamprogna (Dante) and Steve Burton (Jason) a lot during those scenes, and Laura Wright (Carly). It was great working with Steve and Dominic, especially, during that storyline.

A NEW SOAP ROLE FOR CHAD?

As to a future soap opera role, Chad is open to the idea and would love to jump back in to a juicy role, “I know people over at The Bold and the Beautiful, and The Young and the Restless. They know that if they’re interested, I would love to come in for a screen test or something, and they can see what I’m doing.”

Meanwhile, Chad has been busy putting out new music under the moniker Duelly and during the interview he explains how he creates his EDM tracks and much more. You can stream his latest single, Static in the Quiet Room on Spotify, Apple Music and You Tube Music.

You can check out the full conversation with Chad Duell below.

Now let us know: what show would you like to see Chad cast on down the line? BTG, DAYS, B&B, Y&R, or a new role on GH? What did you think of his thoughts on the casting switch while he was away in the role of Michael? What was your favorite Michael storyline during Chad’s 15-year run on the ABC soap opera? GENERAL HOSPITAL: Ric’s History of Jealousy Where Elizabeth is Concerned Has Come Back Around

Published

on

By

Ric

On General Hospital, Ric Lansing (Rick Heart) is about to fall back into dangerous old patterns by the foreshadowing during the Wednesday, August 19 episode. After first coming to see his brother, Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard) and telling him of his plan to propose to Elizabeth Webber (Rebecca Herbst) his longtime love tonight, Sonny has concerned.

Next, Sonny reminds his brother of what has happened in the past, when things have gone south with Elizabeth and wonders if it’s too soon for him to propose to her. What Ric did not tell Sonny is that he has seen the developing closeness between Sonny’s son, Dante (Dominic Zamprogna) and Elizabeth, which is propelling his urgent need to propose.

Meanwhile, Dante ran into Elizabeth at the park during a break from their mutual team softball games. She needs help with a bookcase after the game at her house. Dante wants to put it together for her. Later, Dante arrived at Elizabeth’s house, limping after injuring his knee during the game. Head nurse Liz wanted to check out the injury as much as Dante protested, which required him to take off his pants.

RIC BEGINS TO UNRAVEL

Outside Elizabeth’s widow, Ric arrives with a bouquet of roses and the engagement ring. When he leers through the widow he is shocked to see Elizabeth rubbing Dante’s leg while Dante is in his boxer/shorts. He storm troops into the house, demanding to know what is going on here? Both Elizabeth and Dante look surprised by his reaction. In the pick-up of today’s Thursday, August 20 episode (see GH video teaser below), viewers will learn the upshot for all three characters.

A VENGEFUL PAST

As longtime GH fans know, Ric has done some horrible, vengeful things in regards to Elizabeth starting back in 2003 after she lost her baby after Ric’s ex, Faith Rosco pushed her down a flight of stairs. Ric accused Sonny for the accident and to get revenge, Ric kidnapped Carly (who was married to Sonny at the time), and stashed her in a panic room below the house where he was living with Liz.

On top of that, Ric fed his wife Elizabeth birth control pills to keep her from getting pregnant so that they could raise Carly’s baby together after it was born. Eventually, Elizabeth found Carly in the panic room but ended up having a pulmonary embolism. When she woke up in the hospital, Elizabeth was all confused by what happened, and Ric convinced her that her vision of  Carly was just a bad dream. Eventually, Elizabeth learned the horrifying truth and divorced Ric.

Years later, Ric noticed the connection between Elizabeth and “Jake Doe” who eventually turned out to be Drew (Billy Miller) A jealous Ric hired Hayden Barnes to show up and claim to be “Jake’s” wife. Elizabeth stepped aside, and when Ric planned to propose to Elizabeth at the 2015 Nurses Ball, Carly exposed his manipulations, and Elizabeth dumped him yet again. And those are just two examples of the lengths Ric will go to for Elizabeth!

So, we ask you, given the history of Elizabeth and Ric, how do you see this playing out with Dante in the picture? How will Ric derail their growing bond? Share your thoughts via the comment section below.
