GH’s Katelyn MacMullen On Willow’s State of Mind: “I Think She’s Definitely Snapped!”
This once, seemingly mild-mannered school teacher-turned-nurse (and former cult member) world has been turned upside down, which in turn, has caused what can only be viewed as a mental breakdown. Of course, we are talking about General Hospital’s Willow Tait (Katelyn MacMullen). On recent episodes of the ABC daytime drama series, the judge ruled in her ex-husband, Michael Corinthos’ (Rory Gibson) favor, and gave full custody of their children, Amelia and Wiley, to their father.
Right before the decision was handed down, Willow learned (as did everyone else in the courtroom) that Sasha (Sofia Mattsson) was carrying Michael’s baby from a one-night stand and lo and behold she goes into labor. Putting any resentment aside, Willow put her nurses’ cap on (not literally) and helps deliver the child right there on the courtroom floor.
Now, Sasha has a newborn baby and Willow has no children. After the judge handed down her decision, Willow lost it, screaming and crying in the courtroom, fainting, and being taken to General Hospital for observation as her mental health status is now in question. Then, before leaving the hospital, Sasha’s newborn ”Daisy” somehow got placed in the wrong bassinet, and another baby was given to her by mistake. After leaving GH with Drew (Cameron Mathison), and back at home with him, Drew presses Willow to marry him. She says she needs to lay down. Later, we see someone peering into the Q’s window where Daisy is with Sasha.

So, what does this all add up to? Is Willow going in and out of a a “fugue state” a rare psychological condition where someone experiences sudden, unexpected travel and an inability to recall their past, sometimes including a new identity? Has she split and developed an alter? We have certainly seen that before. Now online speculation has that perhaps the upcoming arrival of six-time Daytime Emmy-winner, Erika Slezak (ex-Viki, OLTL) might have something to do with what fate lies ahead for Willow. On One Life to Live, Viki suffered from Dissociative Identify Disorder for years.

Actress, Katelyn MacMullen spoke to Soap Opera Digest about Willow’s mindset at the moment where she shared, “I think she’s in a bit of a fog. I think she definitely snapped – she definitely had a moment where she snapped in the courtroom and I think that there is a little bit of delayed processing, maybe, even like (she’s) kind of losing it a little bit as she’s trying to cope with this feeling of emptiness. Her entire life is her children, so to even look at life without them is, I think, almost impossible for her. And I get it; I can’t imagine losing custody of your children and how that could affect somebody. So, I feel like anything is possible for in the realm of her mental state. I think at any given moment or on any given day, it’s kind of unpredictable. I would say… expect the unexpected.”
So, what do you think is going on with Willow? Is she going to be revealed as the person targeting little Daisy? Could Willow be in a fugue state as suggested above? Will she ultimately have another personality, the “Nelle” side of her, as a nod to her late sister? Would Erika Slezak’s upcoming GH debut have anything to do with this story? Weigh-in with your theories via the comment section below.
Erika is not coming on till fall, this looks like a summer story
It’s possible that Vicki Lord Buchanan could be involved in this storyline. Willows breakdown and mental issues will most likely be played out for several months after all it is GH and nothing happens fast.
I think when this is all over Willow needs to get a clue what her own mother went through. Both of Nina’s babies stolen from her at birth while she lay in a coma, Willow being one of those babies. Nina spent a decade searching for whom she thought was one child, only to find out she had two. One dead. And Willow. And Carly decided Nina would never know about either. Not once since Willow found out did she have empathy for her own mother. Instead, she chose Carly, shut Nina out. Not once since they supposedly got close, did she seem to finally understood what Nina went through, the pain, even when she (Willow) was afraid to lose her own. Knowing the writers, they’ll probably have Willow reject Nina again when she finds out Nina never told her about her own history with Drew. To that I’d say if Willow was a real person…”If you didn’t have your mother walking on eggshells with ultimatums on what she can say and do if she wants you and her grandkids in their lives, maybe she wouldn’t have been afraid to tell you.”
So very nice to read your comments again Rebecca1.
Yes indeed!
Wonderful breakdown of events and character development. I have nothing to add except that Watros may be one of the most gifted soap actresses in soap history. When she consoled Willow in the court room, you could feel all of her own past maternal grief rising up to merge with her grieving for her daughter’s current maternal grief. That emptiness! It was an intensely emotional and complex moment and Watros played it beautifully by showing without telling.
I have A Job for willow to kidnapped sasha’s baby in sasha home. And need drew be involved of kidnapped sasha’s baby
I think Katelyn is a wonderful actress and she’s always riveting to watch.
Forget about Willow for a minute. I think Sasha is being ridiculous towards Michael-I mean there she is living in the Q mansion, working for them & Michael “is not to be involved with the raising of their child???” I would have Michael in the bed so fast it would make his head spin! God, is Sasha blind or what? (I guess you can tell I love the recast!)
This whole “not involved” concept is ridiculous with her living in his family’s house. And, let’s say she keeps her job and in 10 years Daisy sees her brother Wiley asking her mother to make him something to eat?
Sasha is just slightly better than Holly, who never gave Robert a chance to know Sasha as a child nor make decisions for her. Then again, that was a silly retcon…
I love Katelyn MacMullen, and I know alot of viewers are on the hate willow train right now, but I like willow, and pray she dumps Drew, I like NuMichael, and eventually hope they end up back together, or I realy liked her with Chase but that train has sailed, Or has it? regardless, I’m not sure I want to see Willow develop and alter and have split personality, I watched OLTL and saw this storyline play out on that show with both vickie and jessica, and it was excruiciating and never ending, maybe for the actor is fun to play out or for some viewers, and maybe the reason I never enjoyed it on OLTL was because it was never ending with both of those characters and I just realized it was probably during all that time I watched written by Ron Carvilatti, who has the bad habbit of over doing something for far to long.
She is going to steal Sasha and Michael’s baby daisy. Or could it be brit 2.0?

Vincent Pastore of ‘Sopranos’ Fame and ‘General Hospital’s’ Maximus Giambetti Dies at 80

Vincent Pastore, best known for his memorable role as Salvatore “Big Pussy” Bonpensiero on HBO’s The Sopranos has passed away.
The veteran actor was found dead on August 1st in his home in the Bronx, New York. Pastore was 80-years-old. The cause of death is yet to be determined.
As well as his role on The Sopranos, many soap fans will recall he played multiple smaller roles on the beloved One Life to Live from 1995 and 2004. However, in 2008, he landed the short-term role as Maximus Giambetti on General Hospital.

PASTORE WANTED TO BE ON GENERAL HOSPITAL
Maximus was the mobster father of Sonny Corinthos’ (Maurice Benard) bodyguards: Max (Derk Cheetwood) and Milo (Drew Cheetwood)
According to Soap Opera Digest, Pastore told Soaps In Depth back in 2009, after appearing in a SOAPnet promotional campaign as a celebrity fan of General Hospital: “‘I’d love to be on the show. So they called up GH’s casting director (Mark Teschner) and Bobby (Robert Guza Jr. ex-head writer, GH) and they wrote me in!”
Pastore was a huge General Hospital fan from way back, who at one point told producers that he would watch the ABC soap opera while working in bars and nightclubs in the 70s and 80s.
Throughout his decades long career, Pastore appeared in films including: Goodfellas, Carlito’s Way and Men of Respect, The Jerky Boys: The Movie and the 1996 HBO TV movie Gotti.
In TV, besides The Sopranos, Pastore’s credits included: Law & Order, The Practice, Son of the Beach, Queens Supreme, Hawaii Five-0, Wu-Tang: An American Saga, plus the miniseries The Last Don II. Most recently, Vincent was a series regular on Gravesend and guest starred on Yellowjackets.
