GENERAL HOSPITAL: Laura Wright and Kelly Thiebaud Deliver One-Two Punch as Britt & Carly Grieve the Loss of Jason

When General Hospital goes for the emotional jugular, it is very often top-notch daytime drama, and that was on full display through Tuesday and Wednesday’s episode of the ABC daytime drama series in key scenes as the news of Jason’s ‘death’ hit Port Charles.

In the wake of Steve Burton’s (Ex-Jason) dismissal from the show for not adhering to the vaccine mandate, it did open up the story and provide for a huge fallout for those who loved the mob hitman.

In the end, it was Carly (Laura Wright) and Britt (Kelly Thiebaud), who seemingly felt the loss the hardest.  Initially, upon learning how Jason ‘died’ helping Britt locate her mother, Liesl (Kathleen Gati), a defiant Carly blamed Britt for Jason never coming home.

In Wednesday’s episode, we saw how Carly and Britt tried to cope with the knowledge that Jason was buried under a rubble in a cave, with no sign of life, or his body found.

Overwhelmed with grief, Carly heads to the footbridge to be close to the spirit of Jason and to mourn him as tears flow.  She is stunned to see Britt show up there, too.  Carly is surprised that Britt even knew about the bridge that Jason had rebuilt thank to a generous donation from him.  Britt tells Carly that she and Jason had a lot of time to talk while they were on the run.  After Carly explains that Jason was her person and had been her other half, Britt offers to leave. S he expresses that she thought coming to the bridge would make her feel closer to Jason.

Then, in a heartbreaking moment, Britt assures Carly that she blames herself for what happened to Jason and hates herself.  Then, Carly has a moment of clarity that Jason would want her to forgive Britt.  Generous thoughts never come naturally to Carly, but Jason always set her straight on how to handle life’s most difficult situations.

In the final moments of the episode, with both women in tears, Britt moves to the center of the bridge with her arm around Carly, after Carly tells her she doesn’t want her to go.  The two stand together bonded over the man they both loved.

These scenes were masterfully played by Laura Wright and Kelly Thiebaud. They were gut-wrenching, powerful, and sad all at the same time.  We think many viewers needed several hankies during these scenes.

So, what did you think of the Carly and Britt bridge scenes …. and the work of Laura and Kelly? Share your thoughts via the comment section below.

Sophisticated writing plus stellar acting = WOW! WE all expected Snarly Carly to go on a shrieking rampage against Britt. I love when writers allow characters to grow, and take an unusual route. They certainly did that here! How many times over the last 25 years has Carly asked Jason to do something dangerous that could put his life in jeopardy?? Hundreds literally!! I think she realizes that her and Britt are not that different. It was enjoyable to watch as I was dreading Carly yelling and screaming at Britt.

Many times she had asked her not pursuit one of her wild ideas to be back at someone who done her sonny wrong. Jason always said think carley is this what she wants

I don’t know how Kelly has never been nominated for a Emmy she’s just wonderful

I agree with you 100% that allot of the fans would bet that Carly would freak out on Britt, but I knew she wouldn’t because she knew how Jason felt about Britt but also that Jason being Jason would never let a friend do anything dangerous alone he would always have their back and Carly knew that about Jason from the long history they shared together. I am thinking that both Carly and Britt will eventually become friend and find mutual respect for each other in honor of Jason’s memories. It was a powerful screen and both ladies deserve and award for their amazing job.

Yes, both actresses were excellent, particularly Kelly. We’ve seen grieving Carly before (six weeks ago?) but we keep seeing new sides to Britt and KT delivers magnificently every time. My problem, again, is the wasted emotion over a character/actor we all know will be recast or welcomed back post-pandemic. Same as Sonny’s recent disappearance… I just couldn’t muster any grief. However, Bradford Anderson’s performance when Sonny told Spinelli was deeply moving, probably because this woefully underused actor doesn’t get to play these emotional notes often enough. Well, he plays them beautifully.

Soaphound,
Hi, hope your holiday was good. Mine was fine, ate too much turkey, etc. I feel a lot like you do, especially Carly and Britt. I thought Carly would try to kick Britt off the bridge, instead kind of welcoming her sympathizing little hug. They have so much in common when it comes to Jason. You were right about Bradford/Spinelli crying on Sonny’s shoulder, it was very touching.

I guess I was in the minority that Carly and Britt would unite in their grief. I also feel that Carly would reach out to Britt again as long as Britt doesn’t try to champion Nina. Nina with Phyllis and Ava help, will try to harm Carly and Sonny reunion because right now, Sonny is violating her trust in him. Sonny needs to be the person to tell her, he had a personal relationship with Nina BEFORE one of those other three use it to hurt Carly.

I love these two ladies. I totally miss Jason though. I really wanted to see a jabritt relationship

They were both great, fantastic acting should get an award

I agree wholeheartedly. Carly and Britt were well written and acted. Spinelli’s reaction made me tear up more. I love Bradford Anderson.

I agree with your every word, Soaphound. The acting was indeed masterful, but it’s hard to care about Jason dying again when we know he will be back. And I have this odd thought playing through my mind, if only Jason got the vaccine, he’d be with us today. Such a foolish choice on Burton’s part which drove this storyline. I’m really not interested in watching Jason’s harem, his friends, and his poor mother, grieve his alleged death yet again.

It is not a foolish part on Burton’s choice to not get the vaccination it should be about choice and that was his choice.

His “ choice” negatively impacts the safety of his coworkers. The end.

Steve Burton should have gotten vaccinated. It’s very simple. Good riddance!

That’s not cool!

His body his choice. I WILL MISS HIM . I applaud him standing by his beliefs. All of this is ridicules. He had covid recovered has natural immunity better than any jab.

“Natural” immunity is waning and certainly not better than a vaccine. Read the facts.

I agree

I’m with you on that Hazel

Hazel, “ my body, my choice,” is the mantra of the pro choice movement Anti- vaxxers don’t get to steal the pro choice mantra to validate their selfish and wreckless choices. In the name that all is right, Burton should have gotten the damn shot.

Harry % agreement ❗️

“Natural” immunity, if that is even a thing, does not last forever. He can catch it again and can still pass it on to other people, who also have a choice if they don’t want to contract covid.

Agreed, Hazel—-it took me a year deciding getting vaccinated.
There is a history of heart disease in my family, therefore, because the vaccine is still in its infancy, not enough is known about the risks/side effects. Everyone’s body responds differently.
People should have the freedom of choice—-yet, we must also consider the alternative, at the same time. When a government assumes too much power, the fabric of the country changes, resulting in disabling human rights ——basically demoralizing one’s mind and soul.
Nonetheless, those on here who verbally assault others who do not agree with or adhere to their mindset——those who thump the table and beat their chests with an iron fist to do their bidding, belong in an autocratic government. Should set us back —-oh, let’s see—- hundreds of years—-

His choice his body! All the negative comments take elsewhere! People love jason morgan amazing actor …

I’m patiently waiting on the return of Jason Morgan

Yeazzz honey, I love me some Jason always have. He is such an awesome actor. He plays his part very well and it hurt that he is so damn fine

You are correct. I am fully vaccinated , but I do not believe in government mandates. Private companies have that right.. but steve B. Had just gotten over covid. He should not even consider the vaccine for 90 days. He should be allowed antibody testing untill his antibodies wain. No mandate is fully correct & safe.

Yes, T–I’m with you.—The insults thrown about ( calling others ignorant?) are by those who think their intelligence, sense and sensibilities are above all others.
No one with an opinion is ignorant—-everyone’s opinion is valid. And, for those calling the kettle black proves the point.
Ignorance lies within those who accept all that is fed to them without question. It is the human condition to reason. This is why God gave us a brain. To think; to question and thus formulate a personal decision.
As far as the science? There are quacks who have misled us from the onset—telling the public the virus would be gone by summer’s end ( 2020) and masks would not be necessary. Then, months later, it was reversed. All on video.
This, from a guy who experimented on puppies . Guess what happened to those poor pups.

Glad he stood for what he believes and the mandate IS not legal

Death IS legal and final!

Yup—it’s a complete mess all around—going downhill all the way. God help us—In the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit; Amen.

He was totally in the right

If he is totally in the right for HIS body, then so is the show for their business. Get over the preaching and admit that everyone including the employer has rights and whatever the consequences, we accept our choices for the impact to our lives or companies.

Well, Dianne—some people look at it this way: When Operation Warp Speed was in progress, Joe Biden announced and told the public to beware of the vaccine—-that it wasn’t safe. Now, because he is figuratively at the helm, the vaccune is a must? Hmmmm. What changed? Same vaccine. Same “ingredients”.
People became wary of “the science”.
I am one of those people. It does not make me ignorant; it does not make me selfish—-it made me WARY.
I have finally decided to get vaccinated.
The fear came from a an illustrious? politician.

Well, let’s be honest here….

When Trump was telling people to inject bleach and stick a flashlight up their ass so the ultraviolet light could get inside their bodies, that’s not exactly the guy you want attaching his name to the vaccine, right??

Aside from that, while Team Orange might have encouraged development of the vaccine, they had ZERO plans on how to distribute it to the population, which is why almost nobody had been vaccinated before January 20, 2021. Once the Biden administration got into office, they got the first two vaccines rolled out within a month or two, and the third followed a little later.

Considering its usually several years before a vaccine is typically developed for a virus that was previously unknown, it really was quite an accomplishment to get two vaccines out approximately a year after the pandemic was recognized.

No; that’s not what PRESIDENT Biden said. What he said, as many said, was that he wouldn’t trust Trump and rightly so. Trump wanted “warp speed” because he was insisting the vaccine come out before the election in hopes it would get him more votes. The former guy stomped his feet, shook his little fists, and puckered those guppy lips in anger that the vaccine WASN’T ready before the election. He couldn’t care less about the vaccine; he cared about it helping his chances of reelection. If he CARED about the safety of people, he wouldn’t have mocked masks the entire time or shown up at a debate with Covid, downplayed the virus or held indoor, maskless, rallies or stood by while Dr. Fauci & others trying to do the right thing to keep the public safe, in spite of Trump, got death threats. What a disaster Trump was and is…

PRESIDENT Biden wanted to make sure it wasn’t rushed by Trump; that it was tested and that all the channels they had to go through were completed; not rushed out so Trump could gloat about how he’s the “best” at getting vaccines (after he was the best at doing NOTHING to stop the spread).

PRESIDENT Biden, on the other hand, is a compassionate, empathetic human being who has encouraged from the get-go mask-wearing and vaccines. He has spoken; implored, people to be careful and to act responsibly. The difference between good and evil, right and wrong, couldn’t be more exemplified.

Why? No one should be forced to have a foreign substance injected into their body. Especially not by the government. My rights to have medication administered to my children were stripped under some law that you cannot force anyone to take medication and the hippa law that made it illegal for the Dr to inform me my teenage daughter was pregnant unless she told him it was ok. But the gov can force this newly minted, untested for long term effects, ineffective vaccine on us. I applaud Steve and Ingo for taking a stand not only their rights but for all of us.

You might try researching the history of the polio vaccine. Nobody gets polio anymore. Why? Because of the polio vaccine. I’m tired of the wave of abject. stupidity that has washed over some Americans. We throw you a lifesaver but you cling to the tidal wave with willful ignorance.

Harry…I agree with you. And not just ignorance but self serving selfishness no matter how they frame it. Personally it makes me very angry because I have taken the time and opportunity to vaccinate and mask for both myself and others’s health and well being, and these non-vaxers, my body my right types don’t at show the rest of us the same curtesy by at least staying home, away from others. I liked the idea of Britt and Jason, but I sure wouldn’t want to cosy up to Steve now.

Yes his body his choice!

Everyone should read the Nuremberg Code. Can not force a person to take experimental drug

Lori
Those codes have been changed so many times, it’s crazy.

As long as you accept the outcome for losing your livelihood. You want rights only for yourself on your terms but, life on this earth is not singular but plural. I will miss the actor playing Jason but, he made a decision that impacted himself and his family and wish him well in the end.

His body his choice…

The vaccine should never be mandatory!!! It should be free choice!! Our body our choice that’s what everyone says when they want to kill a baby in the womb!

Exactly, well said!

This is his choice that’s why we live in the u.s.a

What happened to my body my choice

Exactly, Women may lose their choice over their bodies in biggest way possible, where is all the fury and debate over that?. People need to grow up and respect the science so we can go back to really being free to live without masks, etc. There are a lot of families missing and mourning loved ones who chose personal freedom and no longer are here to exercise their freedom. Who knew Americans entitlement would breed such stupidity and ignorance.

Pat. This is the stand out comment on this subject. Beautifully expressed. Thank you.

He still maintains that ability to choose, just as Disney/ABC has the right to determine who can /cannot be employed on their productions. Their company their decision.

Your choice…his choice!
Rude and opinionated much?

It’s is easy to say that something is so simple for other people but if it was you and your beliefs you wouldn’t have done it either. Stop judging him.

Had covid, probably has built in immunity asked for exemptions and denied. This is now a what I put or don’t put in my body is my choice question. No one should be forced or blackmailed

I do not believe for one moment that all the rest of the cast and crew don’t go out and eat, go out and shop, go to other people’s homes. I had both of my shots, but don’t give a rats behind if someone else chooses not to. They should mandate that the rest of the crew and cast go straight home and nowhere else if they are gonna do this. BS!

I felt Carly actually felt some compassion for someone other than herself for once. It was so good to see them come together for Jason, they both loved him in their own special ways. Glad they put their own feelings aside and came together as one for the love of Jason. Great jobs!

Agreed!

Agreed

Loved it! The did a great job and yes it was a tear jerker!

I loved that scene. I hurt for them. Jason is my buddy. Will truly be missed.

Awesome! Hopefully they will have formed a lasting friendship, as the both have trouble with compassion and sharing!

I still can’t watch Gh . In 45 years I really can’t remember missing an episode, especially since I became an adult! I just can’t stand the fact that they fired Jason over not getting vaccinated. What happen to freedom of choice? In this great country of America? I’ve had 3 shots , but he first two then a booster because of my health but that was my choice! Someone like Jason shouldn’t lose their job because they choose not to get back vaccinated!!

I’ve experienced this dilemma, unlike steve i don’t got the bank roll? But i’d test but no hokey pokey..i’ve watched since 1979 but i think abc really don’t care about fans…

That’s the only program that kept me on abc for dude, oltl amc.G.H THOUGH i’ll continue watch What i can? Unforgiven!

Agree 100 percent. Should be individual choice.

The “freedom” aspect you refer to is related to government interference. Disney (who owns GH) is a private employer who sets their own rules. They want to protect as many people as possible. These people work in close quarters and touch and kiss each other. So SB hasn’t lost any of his freedoms. He just lost a job because he didn’t follow policy. Just like anyone would get fired from a job if they didn’t follow policy. Let’s not forget that with any job, there are rules. Get freedom out of your mind in this instance.

Again, just because you are fully vaccinated doesn’t mean that you can’t transmit COVID to others. The vaccine protects YOU from serious symptoms. Period. The decision should belong to Steve and any other individual.

Bill – My comment doesn’t about what the vaccine does or doesn’t do. The decision DOES belong to Steve. He didn’t get the vaccine. Not sure what your point is.

Exactly!!!

I agree. JB had a choice. And he made a decision to not take a vacine .he should think about those he works with and his family. And his was his choice not to vacinatewas. So why complain he was fired. He is not worried about it . Also to lie about religious or medical reason seems. Unfair to those who are in need of these exemptions. He will be back once the covid issue changes. Stop worrying about him. He will be fine. He seems to disappear regularly .

If the vaccines work, then those vaccinated workers are protected without Steve getting vaxxed. So the mandate is bunk… shame on Disney, ABC n GH!!!

Thank you Jeff, for your much needed logic. You are absolutely right. The ignorance in some of these replies is astounding.

All these people need to realize that in order to go to school, we and our children had to be up to date on our and their vaccinations. If we all refused these vaccines, polio, smallpox, measles mumps and rubella would have wiped out half the world. Now I love Jason and I believe we ALL have the right to be safe from this nasty virus. They all need to think of others as well as themselves. Just like them, I have rights too.

But he did exercise his freedom of choice: he chose not to get the vaccine. His employer also exercised freedom of choice: ABC chose not to allow him to continue working at GH and put his coworkers at unnecessary additional risk. I see “freedom of choice” working in this situation exactly as it is supposed to.

I’ll admit I don’t understand not getting the vaccine, but I do get that other people may make choices I don’t agree with, for their own reasons I may or may not understand. They don’t, however, get to make choices without experiencing consequences, positive or negative. I don’t, you don’t, nobody does; that’s just how the world works. For him, not getting the vaccine meant more than keeping his job. Again, I’m baffled by it, but it was his choice to make, and he made it. For ABC, it meant making a choice about workplace safety over an actor’s popularity. It must have been tough, and I admire ABC for doing what seems right to me rather than what would have been expedient.

We have since we went to grade school had government telling us what to do with our bodies from shots to start school to wearing seat belts to insurance for cars etc. Why is it now all of a sudden something we’re being told what to do. Most people will go get a flu shot every year to protect our selves with no problem, but heaven forbid should they get something to protect everyone, not just their own selfishness. People in this country care only about them not others. This covid could be fully gone by now if they really cared about others.

I don’t think so…it will never be gone …big bucks for the Pharma-care…the other vaccines have been around for decades ,properly tested etc …just because you deem it safe , doesn’t mean it is …dig a little deeper …the fact that this one CHANGES your RNA is a little concerning …I applied for a religious exemption and won ! However was let go anyway…I’m ok with it …but it is my body and What i put in it should be my choice not some mandate…I stand with Mr.Burton on this one…everybody is so freaking petrified of this covid crap when the survival rate is like 99.7 percent …good God get a grip people !!

Thanks for your common sense, Karen. Reading these other posts confuse, sicken, and disappoint me. But it shows how far-reaching and deadly that uninformed, blindly political decisions can get in the way of reason, science, and common sense. These folks who are so concerned about what they “put in their body” must never eat fast (or processed) food, drink anything but well-water, or get a polio, flu, or even tetanus shot. You’re right… it’s just ME, ME, ME; the hell with the rest of us.

The vaccine does not protect others just yourself. Border is wide open with millions coming in with no vaccine so if the government doesn’t care about Covid coming over the border why are they pushing the vaccine on us. Follow the money.

Because that freedom can and will but others in danger of the deadly virus. Yes you are entitled to refuse but entitled to put other at rik

Lisa, I agree with you when it comes to watching GH without Jason in it. When he left GH to go to Y&R so did I. I just love him. (and his acting)Lol I agree that everyone has a choice on what they put in their body, but I do believe that we will never get rid of this terrible virus if everyone doesn’t get the vaccine. I believe if everyone got vaccinated than there will be no one to pass it on to. I mean how did they get rid of the Spanish Flu or the German Meacles? I just hope he will come back soon, and I Cant Wait.

It make me and countless fans of GH so very happy for Steve Burton to return as Jason Morgan. PLEASE work something out!!!!!

Please work it out

That entire scene was so poweful
Both actresses brought their A game and Deluevered!!!!!

Both actresses brought their A game.the entire scene was really powerful.

The scene was amazingly good. Tragedy is designed to bring people closer. This could be the beginning of a beautiful and lasting friendship. I think they should become formidable foes. These two ladies have more in common than they realize and based on the way Sonny’s behaving, Carly is going to need a good friend.

This scene was awesome! Loved it. I think the two ladies has more commonalities than differences and this could be the beginning of a beautiful lasting friendship.
Furthermore based on Sonny’s behavior, I think Carly is going to need a good friend.

I thought it was heartwarming especially two women that dont like each other. But for Jason they bond.

It’s a shame it had to come to this.

I wish they focused on Jason being “missing” and not “dead”. We all know that eventually SB will be back and then it’s another back from the dead story. Short sided in my view. There could have been plenty of off screen searching for Jason – Sonny sends a team to look for Jason that lasts for months, years, etc. until he’s brought back home.

I agree with you, TVJeff. They’re jumping to “dead” too soon, especially with no sign of a body, etc. Just an excuse to wring a lot of emotion during the holidays? I’m not in the mood for another long grieving period; we just did that.

Bring Jason back

The best chemistry he had was with Becky but of course she could read the phone book and make it interesting! I gave up when they put her on the back burner ! Miss her abs SB sharing scenes! It will be ok I suggest to them they don’t recast just let it go!

Agree about Becky and why isn’t she more front and center? Why is dumb ass Drew catching up with everyone yet hasn’t bother to look up Liz? If he supposedly loved Sam because he had the real Jason’s memory then didn’t real Jason also love Liz? This and so many other things make it su frustrating to watch GH sometimes when they try to change the characters history.

Aria
Don’t forget, he fell in love with Liz when he didn’t have a memory and than she lied to him to hold on to him, so maybe that’s what he remembers. I suppose he loved her when he was Jason years ago, that’s when they had Jake, right?

oh oh, do I see a bromance brewing between sonny and spinneli? should we start calling them sonilli? all hell is going to break loose when Jason comes back and sees this.

Sees what? The friendship they have always had? How silly.

Very powerful moving scene.

HEART WRENCHING!!! Laura and Kelly couldn’t have done it any other way!!! PERFECTION for both actresses!!! Cried with Carly and Britt!! Also, it’s nice to see adult women w/ flaws, grow together when life throws ya curveballs!!! NAILED IT!!!

Proud that Steve Burton took a stance against the bogus vaccine. Will miss him dearly but totally support him. Way to go Steve ❤❤

No, Disney took a stand. SB got fired.

Jason and is what makes the soap we want Jason back with Britt and she has a child with Jason

You all need to bring Jason back…when will people realize the government has no right to mandate anything on US….I stand behind Steve Burton ….But I surely do miss you already…

So, nobody should be forced to wear seatbelts, smoking should be allowed everywhere and narcotics available to all?

As Lincoln said, government of the people, by the people and FOR the people. That includes protecting citizens from harm.

What you said great way for both

Touching and heart felt

I just want the Peter August scenario to be over with. And the Nina thing oh my God. I’ve been watching this for 60 years and truly I’m bored. And how many times can they reincarnate todd/franco / Austin? Do they not have any more actors that want a job? Like bringing Cameron mathison back as Drew. Good grief.

I’ll agree that Peter August May be the worst multi-year character in GH history. Dawn Winthrop, any Eckerdt and Courtney Matthews used to head that list in my book.

Mathison as Drew, however, has been a revelation. He’s turning out to be an inspired recast that’s working well with other characters.

There were a couple nice moments from Britt. Carly is still a B”tch, what she originally said to Britt can never be unheard. Sonny needs to realize no matter how many times Carly married him, he was ALWAYS second. She married Sonny because he exuded power which on her own she could never get. Jason knew he loved Carly as a friend but could never be IN love with her. Even after Jason and Carly married Jason still obviously loved Britt, Jason married Carly because he had too to keep the “family” safe. Now all Sonny will see is all she cared about was Jason. So now no Jason no Jax and hopefully no Sonny. Sonny needs to be see that Carly will never love him the way Nina does.

Angie,
I agree and I only have one question. Someone would have to be blind to not see that Carly didn’t just love Justin as a dear friend but was in love with him. Why then is everyone so afraid for her to find out that Sonny was in love with Nina while they were in Hicksville?

I’ll tell you my opinion, VIOLET, for what it’s worth. Nina is right about one thing: the ENTIRE WORLD revolves around Clumping Carly…and boy, are those shoes working overtime lately! Carly has no concept of hypocrisy.. remember when she tried to slut shame Elizabeth for having three different baby daddies? Hello, has she taken inventory of HER brood lately?

No words

I think it is terrible that they let Steve Burton go, over a dam shot.
He is a great actor and will be missed.

I don’t think they should have let jason go. I took the vaccine because it was my choice. Jason decided not to take it, his choice. Get him back NBC, he is GL, we want him back, come on now.

I miss Jason…bring him back..G.H no good without Sonny and Jason

Oh my God. I so wanted to hug the both of them and cry with the both of them. I felt like I lost a family member too. I think very powerful moment and Emmy winning moment.

What y’all need to do I bring Jason back you never should have let him go . Stop trying to control people lives and let the work and make their money especially if they are as great as Jason. I will never watch General Hospital again unless he comes back. General Hospital is doomed and I wouldn’t be surprised if the show lose a or of rating and go off the air. Jason is the main topic, dessert of the show and the main event. Y’all suck….

Loved seeing Britt and Carly bonding over their grief for Jason. I know Jason loved Carly but he really was in love with Britt and deep down Carly knows that and she needs to be kind to Britt … she is hurting just as much as Carly. Both actresses did a great job.❤️

I absolutely loved that they came to and understanding when it came to grieving over Jason. They may not be best friends but i think possible friends in the end.

No one can plan Jason role like Steve. They tried before and it did not play out to will. Bring Steve back.

For storytelling purposes, that Jason “is dead” provides way more emotion and rippling affect than anything. The ladies did an excellent job, the writing was spot on. I agree with another comment posted saying it is exciting to see characters grow and evolve (like Sonny has to a degree). I hope when Jason returns that the writers don’t let Carly slide backwards.
And for storytelling, when the truth of Sonny and Nina comes out, watching Carly grapple with THAT without Jason will be a more interesting story than the predictable Carly crying to Jason. Laura Wright has some juicy stuff ahead of her!

All that said, there’s been no real investigation or even retaliation for the dead mob bosses. I figured there would be a Five Families mtg when Sonny returned. Now without Jason, Sonny’s business will be extremely vulnerable.

This whole turn of events have given the writers a gift horse….I hope they don’t disappoint us. Jason may not recognize Port Charles when he returns!

Mary Wardlow I loved the compassion each showed the love they shared for Jason. We would love for Jason to return from the dead victory is his Jason! The show is not GH without him and Sonny!

I am getting very tired of Carlys attitude with Nina. All the hate and shouting and storming out is starting to get old. Time for Carly to move on.

I am still crying over the loss of Jason and how these two women came together to grieve his loss. Masterfully played by both ladies!

We love every moment of Genetal Hospital! My husband and I have been watching since 1978. I have cried and been broken hearted so many times. We feel the actors are part of my family. Now about Britt and Carly….. With that being said…. My husband and I cried for 2 reasons.. We know how much those 2 women loved Jason and that we may never see Steve Burton play Jason again. What ever the reason…. We will miss him.

I so expected Carly to rip into Britt…and was thrilled to see the emotional and accepting way the writers handled the two women’s scene. Hope they continue to support each other through this extremely hard time.

Carly and Britt were excellent together..no doubt abt it! 2 great actresses..powerful grieving scenes abd i bet it came natural to bth of them to cry the way they did bc they both love Steve Burton..so the tears came naturally.

I think it’s crap that they killed off Jason & Jax, just because they didn’t want to get a vaccine. It should be an individual choice not mandated. It’s not mandated for first responders, so why should it be mandated for soap opera actors and actresses? Totally not fair and a bunch of bull crap!!! I’m done watching this crap show!!!!!

Tired of this storyline already. Time to move on to next story.

Love Britt—rock on, girl!!
I hope there is no pairing between her and this Drew—Come back, Billy!!
Cameron is so misplaced within the GH crowd—-awkward!!

Oh Celia, Britt & Drew? Say it ain’t so! She’s way too much woman for him. You know, I watched a Hallmark movie, THE CHRISTMAS ORNAMENT, with my fave Kellie Martin and CM was the male lead. He was surprisingly likeable in that role but Drew is our Billy. No one else.

Hey’ Soaphound—–got my first shot today—-I feel nothing. My arm doesn’t even hurt—
Anyway, I watched the same movie —-Only because of Kellie!! Love her, too—-I love “Hailey Dean Mystery” and “Mystery Woman”, as well.
Are you familiar with the, “Murder, She Baked” series, starring Alison Sweeney? Mathison plays “top cop”. He’s OK—–I just don’t like him. My problem, right? LOL.
He doesn’t do it for me—-even his voice rubs me the wrong way.
I am trying—I really am, LOL. He seems uncomfortable to me –Hopefully, he’ll feel more and more at ease with time. His acting comes across as forced, unlike his other roles. I don’t think he’s worked with any of the GH cast?
We shall see—just as long as Drew is kept away from Britt ( no trespassing, Ha!).
The greatest spin and irony, my friend? He and Carly as a couple. How rich would that be?

Of Laura Wright doesn’t get an Emmy I don’t know what to say other than it’s rigged. This year is her year! It has to be.

Phil
You may be right. She’s got her role down to a tee.when she’s enraged I keep watching that huge blood vessel on her left temple, look like it’s ready to burst!

‘General Hospital’s’ Steve Burton Shares Reaction to His Lead Actor Daytime Emmy Nomination, ‘It Was to Honor Leslie Charleson’

The 53rd Annual Daytime Emmy Award nominations kicked-off on Monday with the announcements of four major categories including, Outstanding Lead Performer in a Daytime Drama Series — Actor, and among the nominees is General Hospital’s Steve Burton (Jason Morgan).

Burton is already a two-time Daytime Emmy winner in the Supporting Actor category for his roles as GH’s Jason and his turn as Dylan McAvoy on Y&R. However, Steve is yet to win in the Lead Actor category and he has received 11 nominations along the way in his daytime career.

Following the reveal that he is a 2026 Daytime Emmy nominee, he and his GH co-star, podcast co-host and comedy show partner, Bradford Anderson (Spinelli) taped a special edition of their That’s Awesome podcast just featuring Burton’s reaction to the news.

FOR LESLIE CHARLESON

Steve expressed, “I know it’s such a cliche to say, ‘I’m just so honored to be nominated.’ But truly, I’m so grateful to be nominated, so grateful to just be on the show off and on for 30 plus years and to be nominated with the guys in my category. Just to get the opportunity. Frank (Valentini, executive producer, GH) texted me right away. I was just like, ‘Thank you for the opportunity to get to do what I do.'”

Taking in the moment, Burton thanked those who helped him select the material for his nominated reel. “Unless you win, you don’t get to say things. So. I’m going just say a few things: Elizabeth Korte (co-head writer, GH) helped me a lot with the material, (as did) Michelle Henry, who’s a producer on the show, Laura Wright (Carly, GH), and then my wife Michelle (Lundstrom). I believe it was Jill Phelps who told me that when A Martinez felt like he had a great show or great scenes, he would mark it down. So, when Emmy time comes, you have all the show numbers written down, and you don’t have to think about it, because that’s half the battle (finding the material).

Burton explained how meaningful this nomination is for him, because of playing the scenes of Jason losing Monica, and his closeness with the late, great Leslie Charleson.

“The nomination’s an amazing thing, and it’s beautiful, but really it’s to honor Leslie Charleson. A lot of my material was because of her, and how I started on the show as a Quartermaine, it just means a ton,” shared Burton. “Maurice Benard (Sonny, GH) has obviously has been instrumental, and I’ve said it from day one and I’ll shout it from the rooftops. If it wasn’t for him, I wouldn’t be here, and to be working with the people that we work with is incredible.”

SHOULD JOHN OLIVER BE NAMED HOST OF THE DAYTIME EMMYS?

During the end of his conversation with Anderson, Steve suggested that the host of the Daytime Emmy should be Last Week Tonight’s John Oliver, who recently guest starred as the head of the WSB named Z on General Hospital, and is soon to show up on Days of Our Lives in a mystery role in August.

Thus far, the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences has not revealed their host for the upcoming ceremony to be held on October 30 in a venue to be named in Hollywood, California.

You can watch Steve sharing his reaction to receiving his 2026 Lead Actor Daytime Emmy nomination below on a special segment on the That’s Awesome podcast.

Now let us know, are you glad that Steve chose scenes surrounding Jason mourning the loss of the woman that raised him, Monica Quartermaine for his Emmy reel? What do you think of John Oliver as a suggestion to host the Daytime Emmys? Weigh-in via the comment section below.

GENERAL HOSPITAL: Jason Reconnects with Danny; Tristan Roberts Arrives in Port Charles, Lots of Nods to #16

General Hospital’s 16,000th episode was packed with little reminders through points in today’s script that the ABC daytime drama series has set another milestone and it paved the way for the return of fan favorite and newly nominated Daytime Emmy Lead Actor nominee Steve Burton (Jason Morgan). The 16,000th episode also introduced viewers to the new surgeon in Port Charles Dr. Tristan Roberts played by Dean Geyer.

Here are the key takeaways and what went down on the July 13 episode: Tristan and Jason are seated next to each other on a plane heading to Port Charles. Throughout the flight, a beaten up Jason has flashbacks to being thrown into, and being held captive in a cell and tortured. It appears Jason is suffering from some form of PTSD from what he was put through after being dragged out of Port Charles by the WSB months ago.

As the plane prepares to land, Tristan tells Jason there would be a car waiting for him once they land and to enjoy the rest of his life. Later, Tristan arrives at the nurses and doctors hub at GH and approaches Elizabeth (Rebecca Herbst). He tells her his name and that he is the new surgeon on staff.

A REUNION PLUS A HEAD NURSE DEFENDS SONNY

Meanwhile, at the end of the episode, Jason is outside the Quartermaine boathouse looking bewildered when he runs into Danny (Asher Antonyzyn), who is so thrilled to see his father, and the two hugs each other as tears are shed.

Elsewhere, Elizabeth tells Sonny (Maurice Benard) that he thinks its a great idea for him to get the 16th seat on the hospital board, but when it comes times to convince Tracy Quartermaine (Jane Elliot) of that, things go awry when Tracy, Laura and Sonny try to work things out. After Tracy launches into Sonny about killing Alan and Monica’s son AJ, Sonny walks away dejected.

Next, Sonny runs into Elizabeth, where he informs her what happened with Tracy. So what’s a head nurse to do? Elizabeth marches into the conference room and reminds Tracy of all the different donations and ways Sonny has contributed to the hospital from the Stone Cates AIDS wing, to the Michael Corinthos Center for Pediatric Head Injuries as well as his constant support each year for the GH Nurses’ Ball.

WSB WAR SCARS

Then, in one of the best parts for longtime fans of the series, Elizabeth talks about her legendary grandparents, Audrey and Steve Hardy and she tells Tracy they would have wanted Sonny to have a seat on the board for all the good that he has done for the hospital. After Elizabeth states Sonny’s case, things took a turn and Tracy and Sonny wound up shaking hands as Sonny is board member #16.

In the how great was it to see Anna (Finola Hughes) and Valentin (James Patrick Stuart) together scenes department, the pick-up of last Friday’s cliffhanger is played out as the two former lovers fill each other in on what has gone down in their lives in the last several months including Valentin admitting he had been living in Carly’s attic, and Anna realizing she was kidnapped by Cullum, Sidwell and Cassius Faison. During their conversation, Anna sees the hallucination of Peter August (Wes Ramsey) right while Valentin is standing there.

Later Anna was on her way to saying goodbye to Valentin, when the two share an emotional hug. After Valentin made his exit, Peter reappeared and warned Anna to not let Valentin distract her because she has important work to do. Anna answers, “I know.”

So, what did you think of General Hospital’s 16,000 episode? What do you think is wrong with Jason? What is the important “work” that Anna has to do? Were you glad to see Sonny get a seat on the hospital board, or not so much. Weigh-in via the comment section. But first, check out the scenes on Jason and Tristan’s long flight to Port Charles.
