GH’s Maurice Benard Weighs-In on Sonny Unknowingly Not Getting His Proper Meds, “I Will Say This, I Haven’t Had This Much Fun Acting in a Long time !!!”
General Hospital’s Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard) is being duped in a most heinous of ways. The mobster, who suffers from bipolar disorder, takes his medication to help control and stabilize his mental health.
However, on Friday’s March 29th episode of General Hospital, viewers learned that Valentin (James Patrick Stuart) has been in cahoots with a pharmacist to doctor Sonny’s medication where he is getting a much smaller dose and the rest is filled with placebo.
Now, Sonny is beginning to act more paranoid and suspicious, and is beginning to act out in ways he might not usually display. It was in full force in key scenes between the mobster and Jason (Steve Burton) and Carly (Laura Wright). Fans of the show were quick to take to social media after the reveal.

Many voiced their concerns for Benard, who suffers himself from bipolar disorder and in the past has had to play out these tough storyline beats for his soap opera alter-ego.
When Sal Anthony Corrente tweeted, “Not happy to see that @japastu and @MauraWest are working against @MauriceBenard. I look forward to Sonny’s recovery and vengeance in what ever manner he deems fitting,” Maurice responded back.

The three-time Daytime Emmy-winning star shared on Sonny’s current plight: “There’s a lot of talk about what’s going on on the show. Some talk about mental health. We have to remember it’s a TV show. It can’t always be perfect. But I will say this, I haven’t had this much fun acting in a long time !!!”
Maurice is a fierce advocate for mental health and has become popular as a host with his series State of Mind, as well, that sheds light on people’s emotional struggles and more.
So, are you looking forward to seeing Sonny struggling as he is unknowingly being given the wrong does of medication? Or are you upset that GH is going there? Share your thoughts in the comment section below.
There’s a lot of talk about what’s going on on the show. Some talk about mental health. We have to remember it’s a TV show. It can’t always be perfect.

So, Ava is working with Valentin? And, Valentin burnt down Anna’s house, instead of Charlotte? What does Valentin have on Ava, to get her to gaslight Sonny? Many questions!
You sound like all three of your questions are true and maybe they are except although Valentin is the worst, I’m not sure he would or could burn down Anna’s home. He was supposed to love her and that would be inhuman, the worst.
I thought Charlotte had already been cleared of setting the fire. I thought Brennan was saying he was the one responsible for burning Anna’s house down.
I don’t remember this -confession- of Brennan but it seems plausible, since he’s in cahoots with Valentin, now I’m wondering if he did burn Anna’s house down, did Valentin know at the time who did it and if he did, he’s even worse than I thought he was.
Brennan was talking in circles, so it may not have been a confession. I just interpreted it that way. If so, I would also love to know how much Valentin knew.
I personally do not like a storyline that messes with mental health medication or any medications. Any more than I do baby switch storylines. Remember, It is all fiction.
With all due respect, your concluding sentence contradicts your first sentence. It’s almost as if you are reassuring yourself.
I don’t see why anyone would want to see someone or enjoy watching someone struggle even if it is a character on a show.
What surprises me the most is Maurice Benard going along with this scenario, thinking it’s fun? Especially he, himself struggling with mental health and tries to help people on his show State Of Mind, boy talk about contradictory.
Mo probably is having fun because the other times Sonny went off his meds – it was a conscious decision on his part. He now gets to play something not knowing what’s causing it.
I don’t think Ava is in cahoots with Valentin. However, when the medication switch is eventually discovered, she’ll be the most likely subject based on her past with Morgan.
Don’t think anyone enjoys that, I don’t
The only chemistry this guy has is with Becky . She could sit there and read the phone book and you would be memorized . This is why I don’t watch rhe show because abusing one of my favorite actresses in this industry is more then I could take. I feel the same way about Case in Y&R so I dropped that just don’t get it . I guess as George Carlin use to say it’s a club and you ain’t in it
I found it bothersome that GH was using bipolar plot twist and use it to drive story w/ Maurice but if the actor himself is ok with it then I’m relieved, I just hope they don’t prolong this. As for Valentine, also not liking him turning full villain, hope there’s a twist here too, I liked Valentine w/ Anna, but there’s such a thing as going too far. And Ava, what is up with her? she’s creeping me out how she’s drooling for Sonny, how sad, she’s throwing away her friendship w/ Nina, whose also going off the wheels, damn, how sad,
The show has needed a smart villain since Victor died. Valentin is a logical choice and gets back to the character’s inception. (Helena warned how evil he could be. He shot both Nikolas and Kevin). We’ll also circle back to why he had Nora make sure Olivia Jerome was sent away for good.
His turn further to the dark side is a good sign that we’ll see Lulu awake from her coma sometime later in 2024.
Can you imagine the lengths he’ll go to,to keep Lulu away from his precious Charlotte. That girl is bad news, ever since she was a little kid.
Charlotte is more invisible than bad. Hasn’t it been a few months since we last saw her?

Vincent Pastore of ‘Sopranos’ Fame and ‘General Hospital’s’ Maximus Giambetti Dies at 80

Vincent Pastore, best known for his memorable role as Salvatore “Big Pussy” Bonpensiero on HBO’s The Sopranos has passed away.
The veteran actor was found dead on August 1st in his home in the Bronx, New York. Pastore was 80-years-old. The cause of death is yet to be determined.
As well as his role on The Sopranos, many soap fans will recall he played multiple smaller roles on the beloved One Life to Live from 1995 and 2004. However, in 2008, he landed the short-term role as Maximus Giambetti on General Hospital.

PASTORE WANTED TO BE ON GENERAL HOSPITAL
Maximus was the mobster father of Sonny Corinthos’ (Maurice Benard) bodyguards: Max (Derk Cheetwood) and Milo (Drew Cheetwood)
According to Soap Opera Digest, Pastore told Soaps In Depth back in 2009, after appearing in a SOAPnet promotional campaign as a celebrity fan of General Hospital: “‘I’d love to be on the show. So they called up GH’s casting director (Mark Teschner) and Bobby (Robert Guza Jr. ex-head writer, GH) and they wrote me in!”
Pastore was a huge General Hospital fan from way back, who at one point told producers that he would watch the ABC soap opera while working in bars and nightclubs in the 70s and 80s.
Throughout his decades long career, Pastore appeared in films including: Goodfellas, Carlito’s Way and Men of Respect, The Jerky Boys: The Movie and the 1996 HBO TV movie Gotti.
In TV, besides The Sopranos, Pastore’s credits included: Law & Order, The Practice, Son of the Beach, Queens Supreme, Hawaii Five-0, Wu-Tang: An American Saga, plus the miniseries The Last Don II. Most recently, Vincent was a series regular on Gravesend and guest starred on Yellowjackets.
Pastore is survived by his daughter, Renee, son-in-law and granddaughter.
