‘General Hospital’s’ Nancy Lee Grahn Reveals Contract Status, Memoir in the Works Detailing Family Court Battle For Her Daughter

In a revealing conversation on this week’s edition of Soapy Hosted by Rebecca Budig and Greg Rikaart, the besties and co-hosts welcomed three-time Daytime Emmy winner, Nancy Lee Grahn (Alexis Davis, General Hospital).
While there were several eye-opening moments, GH fans were in for some great news when Nancy shared she just signed a new three-year deal to remain with the soap opera as everyone’s favorite legal eagle. Grahn expressed, “I just re-signed my contract — another three years, and I’m so grateful for this part of my life.”
As soap fans know, Grahn began her role as Alexis back in September of 1996 after her very successful and Emmy-winning run of Julia Wainwright on Santa Barbara and previously her time as Beverly Wilkes on One Life to Live. This coming September will mark Nancy’s 30th anniversary with GH which will continue her having the longest-running consecutive tenure of any actress in the cast.

HAVING A CHILD
When Nancy sat down for this taped interview with Rebecca and Greg, the subject of the book she had previously mentioned she had been writing was brought up. Grahn says when she finishes it (although it still has a long way to go), will be more like stories from her life than a true memoir. However, one very tumultuous part of her life after becoming pregnant with her musician artist, Kate Grahn is detailed as a story for mother’s everywhere if having to go to family court.
Nancy explained, “One of the reasons I started writing the book was I was going to write about family court because I ended up having almost four years of it. It was brutal. I stopped writing it at one point, and said I’ll come back when I’m not so angry and that was like 10 years later.”
Detailing what occurred, the three-time Emmy winner noted, “I wanted to make a baby. So, at 38 and a half, that relationship did not work out. I was recurring on two or three different shows at the time. So. I was working, I was making money. My ex-boyfriend when he moved, he said, “What can I do to make this better?” I said, ‘You can put sperm in the bank.’ So he did, and then he moved to North Carolina, and then I called General Hospital and said, ‘Does anybody want me?’

THE BEGINNING OF THE FAMILY COURT BATTLE
“Michele Val Jean (former writer, now head writer/creator Beyond the Gates), Wendy Riche (former executive producer and Richard Culliton (former head writer) told me I had a job. To get pregnant, I did not end up going to the sperm bank. I don’t want to reveal everything, because then nobody will read my book. But I will say, it did seem that I would need a miracle.”
The three-time Emmy winner told Rebecca and Greg, “I went and sat on this bench on Fryman Canyon every day, and I’d visualize, and I thought, ‘I’m going to make one last attempt to meet someone,’ and I’d visualize meeting this guy, and he’d say this to me, and then we’d go here and do that, etc. That’s exactly what happened I saw this person for two or maybe three months and saw behavior that was unacceptable to me, and then found out I was pregnant two months later. That person did not want to be involved, and we were not together anymore. And then when Kate was five, he served me with papers. I was stunned at what could happen. Stunned. Four women (legal counsel) showed up out of nowhere that ended up saving Kate and me.”

SONNY TAKES KRISTINA FROM ALEXIS IN COURT
Explaining how life can imitate art on a soap opera, while Nancy was going through this ordeal in her personal life, Alexis was having her child, Kristina, ripped by her in court by the baby daddy, Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard).
Grahn recalled,”The storyline at the time was Sonny was taking my (Alexis) child away from me, a mobster, a criminal, had gained custody in court of a child. So, I remember going up to the head writer at the time, begging him to, ‘please don’t do this to me.'”
“Back to the family court battle,” finished Grahn. “It was so incredibly intense, but everything worked out. I was awarded full custody. I thought the court is where when you get inside that justice happens, but wait till you read this in the book, a lot happens.”
You can check out the full conversation with Nancy on the Soapy podcast below.
So, glad to hear Nancy has signed on to General Hospital for three more years as Alexis Davis? What do you think of her revealing story about how she was taken to family court to retain full custody of her daughter, Kate after her ex resurfaced wanting rights to their child after previously wanting no part of it? Let us know via the comment section.
So happy that she’s sticking around for another three years! She is amazing as Alexis and cannot wait to see what might come from Alexis.
I loved the days when it was Alexis, Stefan and Nikolas. Those were my favorite Cassadine times. I loved the relationship between Alexis and her brother Stefan. I still miss Stefan (Stephen Nichols) after all of these years. He was such complex and interesting character.
I’m 10)% in agreement with you, Stefan & Nicholas (the greatly missed Tyler Christopher) were a wonderful addition to the show. I loved them with Laura & that whole storyline when they arrived in Port Charles & the breakup of L&L. I loved Genie & Stephen together, the best of times when the Cassadines arrived!
Yes! I miss those days so much. They are my favorite to rewatch on YouTube. Huge Stefan fan, especially in scenes with Alexis.
She’s so damn smart. Nancy would make a great writer or EP.
General Hospital
Has Jasper Jacks Been Recast on ‘General Hospital?’

There is a recast coming soon to General Hospital, but which character will it be? Rumors and speculative guesses began swirling after the posting of the Sunday, August 30 episode of the That’s Awesome Podcast and You Tube series featuring GH’s Steve Burton (Jason) and Bradford Anderson (Spinelli).
During their host banter, Anderson brought up the challenges faced in a soap opera when an actor comes in as a recast and replaces another actor known for their role. The challenges included: what happens to a performer who doesn’t fully know the back-story of which they may be walking into, and how they build said back-story their own way. To which, Burton shared that he recently shared scenes with someone who has not aired yet, and who is a recast.
As the conversation ensued, Steve revealed, “So, there’s a guy on the show right now, who (more recently) came on the show, and you guys will see him. I had some scenes with him, and I can’t say what it is yet. But I said to him, ‘Do you know exactly what’s happening?’ I said that, because his decision-making in the scene had to do with events that have happened and the history with some of the other characters. The actors says, ‘I don’t really know what’s really happened, but I do create the backstory (for) myself.”‘

THE RECAST IS A VETERAN TELEVISION ACTOR
Steve continued, “Now, he’s been an actor for a long, long time. He’s been on some primetime shows. He’s done this a long time. So I said, ‘Do you mind if I just tell you kind of what this is, who this is, why they’re doing it and what the involvement for me is?’ He goes, ‘I would love to (know).’ If you can just give someone just a few things where they go, ‘Oh! That’s why I’m saying this!’ Now, the interpretation needs to be this or my intention needs to be this in the scene.’ So, once he airs, we can talk about that more.”
JASPER JACKS
So, who could be returning to General Hospital in the form of another actor? GH viewers were swift to make their picks. Number one so far has been Jasper Jacks. The last time “Jax” was on-screen was November 22, 2021, when he shared a goodbye scene with his ex-wife Carly (Laura Wright). At that time, he told her he was leaving Port Charles to deal with business in his homeland of Sydney, Australia.
In recent weeks, GH has been ramping up the story of JJE (Jasper Jacks Enterprises) with his daughter, Josslyn (Eden McCoy) now accepting his supposed offer to run his company while he is sailing abroad. That message was delivered by mysterious newcomer Hudson (Troy Lennon Appel).
However, Josslyn initially turned down the position, but then was given her next WSB assignment from Brennan (Chris McKenna) which was to accept the position and infiltrate the company as the bureau is looking into some kind of foul play. It would make the most sense that the series has recast the role since Ingo Rademacher left GH over the Covid-19 vaccine mandate and then sued ABC and the series.
JERRY JACKS
If it is not Jax, another top choice is his nefarious brother, Jerry Jacks, previously played by Sebastian Roche. The last time the character was seen on-screen was back on the December 22, 2015 episode. Jerry was sent to prison on-screen, but off-screen escaped. He was referenced back in a story in 2019 and could be in the middle of a secret takeover of JJE.
NIKOLAS CASSADINE
Another pick was that of Nikolas Cassadine, last played by Adam Huss. Nikolas most recent appearance was back in August of 2024, when his ex-wife Ava Jerome (Maura West) came to visit him in prison. Huss had been playing Nikolas on and off since the multiple exits of Marcus Coloma starting in September of 2021, before taking over the role more permanently from January 2023 through August 2024.
You can check out the segment where Steve and Bradford discuss the recast below, and some of the fans responses to the post of who they think is coming to GH.
Now let us know, do you think Jax has been recast ? Do you perhaps think it’s Jerry Jacks, Nikolas Cassadine, Spencer Cassadine, or someone else completely? Let us know your picks via the comment section.

GENERAL HOSPITAL Preview: Whose Scream Is It Anyway?

This week on all-new episodes of General Hospital, lives are on the line in Port Charles, but who might meet their maker and which woman makes a curdling scream?
In the just released ABC spoilers video for the action August 31 -September 4, the story picks up with Drew’s (Cameron Mathison) plot to shut down the security system at the Metro Court Hotel to give him time to search Jack Brennan’s (Chris McKenna) room for the evidence of his political corruption.
First, Carly (Laura Wright) has discovered the hotel’s security system through her computer has been tampered with, and she brings her bestie Jason Morgan (Steve Burton) onto the scene. You hear Carly saying, “All of my security cameras are down, and the alarms have been deactivated!”

DANGEROUS DRUGS
Next, we see Drew with a flashlight fishing around in the dark for what he wants to retrieve, cut to: what looks to be a drugged Jack inside an elevator as the doors are set to close.
As GH fans recall in last Friday’s cliffhanger, Ava (Maura West) spiked Brennan’s drink at the request of Drew to help keep the WSB Bureau Chief occupied to give him enough time to snoop Brennan’s hotel room. The drug is supposed to be a sleeping pill, which Ava mixed in Jack’s drink. In the promo, Ava is seen shouting at Drew that they have to “get out of here now,” while Carly shouts to Jason, “Something’s off!”
A MEETING IN THE MIDDLE OF NOWHERE?
Then, Britt (Kelly Thiebaud) meets up with Anna (Finola Hughes) at an unknown location which looks to be in the woods. Not quite understanding why Anna would make her meet her all the way out in the middle of nowhere just to discuss what happened to her brother, Cassius, she asks Anna, “Why’d we have to meet all the way out here?”
Suddenly, Anna pulls a gun on Britt and says menacingly, “So no one can hear you scream.” Will Britt finally learn just how far off her rocker Anna is? Stay tuned.
Now below, check out the official General Hospital spoilers for this week.

‘General Hospital’s’ Sawandi Wilson Marks 2-Year Anniversary as Dr. Isaiah Gannon with Heartfelt ‘Thank You’ Video to ‘Best Fans in the Universe’

This week, Sawandi Wilson is celebrating his second year as Dr. Isaiah Gannon on General Hospital. Wilson made his on-screen debut back on August 26 when he was introduced onto the canvas as a good friend to Lucky Spencer (Jonathan Jackson). At the time, both men were being held captive by Jenz Sidwell (Carlo Rota) in a refugee camp in East Africa.
Fast-forward two years and Isaiah is still on the GH canvas, Lucky has left Port Charles for parts unknown, and in real-life, since joining the cast of the legacy ABC daytime drama series, Wilson’s life has changed for the better!
Taking to his Instagram, with a very cute video acknowledging his two years as Dr. Gannon, during Sawandi’s first attempt to complete the video he is interrupted from afar in the GH parking lot by castmate, Dominic Zamprogna (Dante Falconeri).

THE ROAD TO PORT CHARLES
When Wilson does his second take for the video, here is what she shared: “Real quick. I want to say thank you to all the fans because I am celebrating two years on General Hospital.” He then added, “So, a couple things that have happened since I’ve been on the show is: I moved cross country from New York. I got married, and most recently we had a baby. I am so happy to share that personal journey with you guys.”
Sawandi concluded with, “But more than anything, this post is a ‘thank you’ to the fans, the fans who have been there supporting Isaiah from day one. I love you guys with all my heart. You guys are the best fans in the universe, and the most loyal, dedicated, best fans. I love you guys so much. We are a family out here and I’m happy to be part of the family. I love you guys.”
In the written post accompanying his video, Wilson also expressed, “GH family, from the bottom of my heart, thank you, I love you! 2 years ago, Dr. Isaiah Gannon landed in Port Charles for the first time. I had no idea how many people would be invested in every twist of every storyline along the way. But I’m grateful. Thank you for watching. Dominic Zamprogna, thank you for the cameo. #sawandiwilson #Gh #isaiahgannon #Blackscrubs #bts”
As viewers know, over the past few weeks, the GH star has been sharing updates on his newborn daughter Zelda’s battle from birth, when she was barely crying and landed in the NICU. Later, with good news to report, Sawandi praised the entire medical team at Cedars Sinai sharing, “You saved my baby’s life. You saved my wife’s life. And you saved my life. I love you guys.”

THE MYSTERY OF THE LLANVIEW GANNONS
One Life to Live fans are still hoping that the General Hospital writers connect the dots with Isaiah’s last name of “Gannon.” From 1992 on, the Gannon family was represented in Llanview. First, by Hank Gannon (Nathan Purdee), then RJ Gannon (Timothy D. Stickney) and Hank’s ex-wife, Nora Hanen Gannon Buchanan (Hilary B. Smith), and her daughter Rachel Gannon (at one time played by Beyond the Gates star, Daphnee Duplaix).
Currently in story, Isaiah is involved with Dr. Portia Robinson (Brook Kerr), who recently gave birth to her ex’s baby. That ex is Curtis Ashford (Donnell Turner) who was sent away to prison for assaulting Isaiah and injuring his hand which now makes him unable to perform surgery.
Take a look at Sawandi Wilson’s very special ‘thank you’ message to the fans on his 2nd year anniversary with General Hospital below.
Now weigh-in; do you hope GH closes the loop on the “Gannon” connection? Do you hope more of Isaiah’s family shows up in Port Charles? Have you enjoyed Sawandi Wilson’s 2-year and counting run on the ABC soap opera thus far? Let us know via the comment section.
