GENERAL HOSPITAL: Patrick to Robin: "Goodbye … Good Luck With Your Corpses!"

Courtesy/ABC

Courtesy/ABC

Is it finally and truly curtains for GH’s Patrick (Jason Thompson) and Robin (Kimberly McCullough)? Well, after yesterday’s episode of the ABC soap opera, it seems like Patrick as painful as it is, finds himself with no choice but to walk out on his wife!

After Robin tells Patrick that Jason died, he can’t believe she still stayed behind at the clinic to work on reviving the evil Cassadines instead of returning home to he and Emma(Brooklyn Rae Silzer)!

Claiming this is groundbreaking and a potential medical breakthrough in saving lives, Robin says she needs to finish what she has started in her research, and pleads with the doctor side of Patrick to understand.

Heartbroken and fed up, Patrick finally realizes he has to let Robin go and move on with his life.  Next, in a very touching moment played by Jason Thompson, with tears in his eyes, Patrick tells Robin, “Goodbye … good luck with your corpses!”

Watch the break-up scene after the jump! Then let us know, do you think Robin is hiding something? Are you glad Patrick walked out on Robin?  Do you think Jason Morgan is truly dead? Comment below!

I honestly do not care. I think this storyline is beyond ridiculous-unfreezing corpses. Shame on the writers. I want to see core, historic families-Quartermaines, friendships, relationships, supercouples, cliff-hanger Fridays. Tired of the “Sam” show, too. It saddens me that this is what has become of the show.

Amen.

dmr, I appreciate and agree with the underlying sentiment of your comments, but I also think you’re a bit off base. Frozen corpses were all part of the Gloria Monty hay-day of the 1980’s when the Cassadines were in PC. Remember the Ice Princess? It was far out there and yet GH was riding the top of the ratings. I don’t care for storylines like that, but this isn’t something new to GH history.

Rodd, the stories you mentioned were ridiculous, yes. But they demanded from the viewers suspension of disbelief. We followed Luke, Scorpio and Laura into the Ice Princess Journey because we loved these characters .The only way suspension of disbelief can work is if the characters remain true to themselves. Robin’s story is not working because she has been acting out of character, The writers seem to be writing her story as the go along. It’s also important to note that during the whole Ice Princess fantasy there simultaneously other, realistic and grounded storylines transpring such as Traci trying to win her father’s favor, Alan and Monica’s marital problems and subsequent make up sex, Heather stalking Nurse Anna, Joe Kelly mourning the death of his Irish father and so forth.

Harry…Each TV show we watch…each film…we, the audience, suspend out disbelief. Otherwise, we wouldn’t get emotionally invested in fictional characters in a fictional world. So, for me, the Robin storyline isn’t such a stretch. I see no difference in what they’re doing now to the story lines you cited. I actually welcome fantastical stories interspersed with the more “realistic” ones. Actually, even the realistic ones are usually way out of the norm so it’s a matter of degree!

Daytime soaps (at least GH and OLTL) have often incorporated some type of science fiction or other worldly occurrences, people back from the dead, ghosts, vampires, aliens…and yet again, we, the fans, go along for the ride.

I’m looking forward to where they take this latest tale. It’s also a great way to bring back some characters that otherwise would have stayed dead. Not everyone wants to see the return of these or other characters, but for those of us that do it’s a fun way to execute it.

yes, let’s go back to the classic days of GH stories about human relationships: weather machines… freezing the world… aliens… where have THOSE stories gone?

bwahahahahaha

I loved that Casey the alien story!

@Christy…

I loved Casey too! Sigh…where has all the magic gone… 😉

Rebecca, I always respect your opinion. My stance is that the law of suspension of disbelief will not work if the characters are plot driven.
Nothing about Robin’s actions as of late are character driven. Not only that, her actions negate all the events leading up to her deciding to not confide in her mother or Patrick about why she is leaving the very family she fought so hard to come back to. I don’t buy anything about her motivations as the writers seem to be making it up as they go along.

Harry…thanks! Respect back to you! But, in this case, I disagree. Robin is a character who is moral, loyal, true to her family and friends…yet always goes with what she thinks is right. Back in the day, when she was part of the inner circle with Sonny and Jason…she still went against them to tell AJ he was Michael’s father. It didn’t mean she loved Jason any less, but she did what she thought was right, fair and the decent thing to do for all concerned. The fallout was harsh.

In the current scenario, she had to put aside her love for her husband and daughter to save the life of her friend. I don’t know the percentage of GH fans across the board…not just here on this site but the fans in general who’ve voiced an opinion…who thought it was out of character for Robin to leave…or who thought they ruined her character…but I didn’t feel that way. I felt it made perfect sense for a person to be torn in the way she was. In my opinion, she had no choice. It’s not like she chose a side (as Sam did in not trusting/believing Silas, a man she was supposedly in love with). She LITERALLY had Jason’s life in her hands. I don’t know how anyone could go on living knowing she/he could have save a life but didn’t. In her mind, as excruciating a choice that she had to make…she’d have all the time in the world to go back to Patrick and Emma.

Now we find her at the clinic. For me, there’s consistancy here. Once again, you see the longing in her eyes…and you hear the desperate plea for Patrick to take Sam and leave. It was obvious she was trying to warn him, to save him from imminent danger. Again, it’s Robin being loyal, loving, protective…but this time we learn Patrick and Emma ARE in danger if she doesn’t follow Victor’s orders…and he has already caused their car accident and the subsequent death of Rafe (as fallout).

So again, nothing has changed in Robin’s character…for me. I know there are plenty who disagree but I think the writers handled Kimberly’s on/off time as best they could while staying true to who the character is.

You, dmr, are clearly not a longtime fan of GH. If you were, you’d know that unfreezing corpses is one of the LEAST ridiculous General Hospital storylines. In some of the most popular years of the series, there were weather machines, freezing the worlds, Casey the Alien, etc. If anything, out-of-this-world stories, like unfreezing corpses, balanced by real-life dramas like breakups, death, love stories, is really taking GH back to it’s roots.

If I don’t see Robin Drake for 20 years, it will be too soon!

But Nikki, what the stories lack now is good character writing/development. Suspension of disbelief is only possible when the characters are well written–currently that is not happening. That is why GH is failing.

theyre lazy & redo stories over & over & theyre almost always bad. They dont care about depth & good storytelling the only good “couple” are Spencer & Joclyn

You bet, dmr. To paraphrase jimh, this is the most stupid and dumb storyline, but, not too far-fetched for GH. Are we supposed to hang on, with bated breath and listen to what ridiculousness comes out of Robin’s mouth? I personally am glad Jason is dead, if he truly is. I hope he stays dead and Robin spends the rest of her life trying to bring him back. Now, if it were Helena (sp) Cassidine being brought back? Well, then we’re talking. At least, she would create some havoc for Port Charles…it has been dormant for far too long. Nina’s little stints don’t measure up to the caliber of what GH can do. I will always watch, but give me a storyline that will make me want to keep tuning in. The only Jason I will accept is Billy Miller, but as Jason Quartermaine.
Does anyone miss Jason Morgan? For whom is he being brought back? Sam? She’s off chasing rainbows existing only in her head with Patrick, the Faithful….for Sonny? Who needs another mobster invading my screen? Monica? Well, maybe…but, still as JQ. For Robin herself? Dull, dull, dull.
The last scene I remember as Robin’s last departure was imminent, was with Patrick, having had boring sex. As Nanci indicated, where was the excitement when they accidentally met at the clinic? Where were the kisses and the hugs and the words of passionate love? Huh? That was sort of weird. If I hadn’t seen my husband for that long, I would have kissed him from head to toe. As a mother myself, Robin didn’t even ask after the well being of Emma. I could never leave my babies, come hail or high water. They come before anything and everything.
But, as I said, GH is part of my routine…I will always watch. I love seeing familiar faces…I love Alexis and Julian…and as much as I love Roger(Franco) , I do not like him with Carly. My feelings are tepid for Carly. Can you imagine Franco and Nina as a couple? I hope the writers go that way.

@CeeCee…

Many fans would love to see Jason back. I also think it’s a response to the dismay at having the Qs die one by one and the backlash for killing off AJ. I think Ron et al are trying to rebuild them…Monica will be back, Tracy, Jason, Alice, Michael coming into the fold, (Morgan and Kiki by association) and Ned. Actually, I guess I hadn’t been reading any spoilers, comings/goings because I had no idea Wally Kurth would be reprising his role for so long. I, for one, am thrilled with his return. Love the character and the actor!

clearly robins got some explaining to do, i’m thinking she probably did try to get in touch with her family and thats when Patrick and Sabrina were run off the road. Victor is clearly “threatning ‘ her. theres nothing the show can do or the new group of haters that will ever make me not like Robin. I’ve heard the complaints about the actresss/character ect.. but nothing will sway me. So thanks GH and Kim for coming back when you do. i’ll take you in small doses or long ones no matter what.

I think Robin is protecting her family too, otherwise it would be totally out of character for her to behave this way. The dismantling of Scrubs is disappointing after all the build up for the reunion but I have come to accept that Patrick has to move on if KMc is not going to be on the show full time. Luckily, I’m really loving SamTrick at the moment and hope it goes somewhere.

Patrick doesn’t deserve Robin. He has always held her to a higher standard than anyone else. When Princess MarySuebrina lied about being knocked up…poof swept under the carpet. When Lisa was terrorizing Robin there was no proof. Screw the fact that Robin may be suffering from the effects of being held prisoner for two years, it was obvious she was terrified about something, but Patrick was too obtuse and wallowing in his own box of pain to really see his wife.

This is Cartini’s way of cleansing Patrick and Sam thinking Jason is dead so they have a pass to start their thing. I am sick of Robin being dirtied for Patrick’s pleasure. Said it before and I will say it again. They have trashed a beloved character for their own purpose. It is disgusting.

Patrick doesn’t deserve Robin.

In total agreement with you, Jill. I always thought she could do better, even when he nearly begged her to marry him.

But I do understand why they used Robin as a plot point to move Patrick along. It’s been over two years and very few viewers bought his love for Sabrina (that quickly disappeared when Robin reappeared) so the writers had to find a way to break them up for now.

Be that as it may, I care for neither character. Patrick and Robin, that is. However, you are absolving Robin way too easily. You are giving her a pass for abandoning her child. Everyone seems to forget that. The writers do not even acknowledge that or address it. Yes, it is a soap, but some of us would like to hear Robin give a plausible explanation. Whatever she explained away is pooh-pooh. The fact is there is no explanation for leaving one’s kid to go chase an idiocy. Writers, end this one way or the other. There is no other way to express it. If that is trashing Robin? Well, then…sobeit. I know it is not real life, but it happens every day…children abandoned by their mother/ father.
Also, Jill….I must have missed that episode when Sabrina faked her pregnancy? Her character is so sanctimonious, I can’t see her doing that. I am being neither sarcastic nor facetious . Enlighten me, please.

I sincerely hope Robin isn’t trying to clone Jason, or worse trying to transfer his brain into another body in order to explain why nuJason won’t look like old Jason. But knowing RC he already did vampires maybe nuJason will be GH’s version of Frankenstein.

As for Patrick, yes it was time to put Robin behind him. If they want the actor to stay they will have to develop his character apart from Robin, otherwise he is just one half of a super couple that doesn’t exist anymore. Not sure this was the best way of ‘consciously uncoupling’ this couple, but it is done and lets hope they make Patrick more interesting because for me, he is one of dullest characters on the show right now.

You can blame Cartini for Patrick’s dullness. Two years stuck in Disneyland sucked the life right out of him. Gone is the cocky doctor and instead some bad variation of Prince Charming evolved. Patrick’s story should have been one where he spiraled out of control when he thought Robin was dead….just like the one person he never wanted to become his father. He could have met another woman to help him comeback. I will never understand why they thought Patrick goes to Fairyland was a good story for him.

Jill, Patrick spiraling out of control when he thought Robin was dead, then meeting another woman who helps him come back…. that is exactly the story they gave to Patrick.

Jill, I think Patrick got stuck in “It’s a Small World” Exhibit. You’d act like a dazed zombie too after going through what he did,

Kim has signed a contract and returns in the fall…hope that means a bit of a longer stay in stead of this coming and going!!!

I have not heard this news, but by a contract, it may not mean what many of us would like it to…. we all know she is not satisfied acting, so I don’t want to get my hopes up…unless you have more news??;)

What is your source, because it was made clear in an interview with EP Frank Valentini that Kimberly will only be appearing on GH as her directing schedule allows, she’s not returning full-time.

What I read was Robin would be in and out throughout the fall. I think it was in one of the mags.

Kaleesi, i read it online…S.O.D., to confirm Kim’s length of stay…glad someone else seen it too!!!

Even if it turns out that there is more to the story, which I assume there is, and if Robin has no choice, watching her constantly berated, turned into a punching bag and begging Patrick is just hard to watch. There are so many more interesting ways for these scenes to play out with better story and dialogue. I just find everything about the show these days to be of poor quality. It is like watching a spoof of a soap opera.

Back in the day, competent and skilled writers would flesh out a story and write interesting and dramatic dialogue. They would also give more interesting and complex explanations as to what the characters, doctors especially, were doing. Patrick is a neurosurgeon, why is Robin talking about her work using dialogue that you would expect on Nickolodean? Why is there nothing scientific about the conversation. “If I can unfreeze people we can save lives.” That is brilliant stuff.

Smart writers, who valued and respected their audience would do better to explain the science and make the dialogue and the story mature and intelligent. Given how low brow the writing in general is and how many stories we have seen that are convoluted, illogical and full of holes, it is obvious that they are not capable. And it is shame that GH has been reduced to this level.

Lol GH50, the show isn’t scientific enough for you? Give me a break. It’s a soap opera, if you want science, watch the Discovery Channel.

I said it wasn’t intelligent enough for me. Great if it works for you Lol!
I don’t need it to be The Discovery Channel but I don’t want it to be Nickolodean either.I guess The Big Bang Theory, a show about scientists, should have no realistic references to science because it’s a sitcom.

Go Stephanie!

I agree with you GH50. Some of us do want an explanation to some dialogue that is introduced. ….especially those of us who have a hard time swallowing what is fed to us if the flavor isn’t too savory. You are expressing an opinion and you do not need the sarcasm. Good grief, this site is not there for angry posters or for abasing people.

That’s uncalled for.

Go GH50!

CeeCee,

You’re the only one here that seems to be an angry poster, sweetie. My comment to GH50 was meant in humor, which is why I used “Lol.” No need to be so defensive. GH50 does perfectly fine talking for herself and defending her own positions.

Well, Stephanie…adding lol does not lighten the intent…..Anger is not part of my life. ….waste of time and energy.

I explained to you the intent, so hopefully we’re clear on that.

Anger is not part of my life, either. Something we agree on. That’s why, while I respect people’s right to express their opinions, I don’t spend time getting angry about a TV show. Life is too short. Watching GH is an escape for me, something fun to catch up on at the end of a long work week. That’s what it is for me, I know it’s different things for different people. You take the good with the bad.

Hope everyone has a great weekend!

There is a lot more than proper medical nomenclature missing from GH these days….where is the imagination, the creativity that used to give this show its spark? The summer has been a totally dreadful one in Port Charles….boring and derivative with practically no exciting moments. The few highlights that did make it to the screen were far too brief, like the deliciously ditzy dithering of Delia Reid Ryan Ryan Coleridge Crane Coleridge (especially her “Roger/Mike” moment and “gorilla” storyline reference with Sonny, even though Ilene Kristen actually never participated in that King Kong farce, it was Randall Edwards….) and the clever insertion of FLuke Skype-Talker to keep AG onscreen during his convalescence in Amsterdam. Other than those minor bright spots there has been precious little worth watching….even the latest Robin return fell flat and offered no satisfaction to Scrubs fans during her much-awaited reunion with Patrick! P.S. It would seem that all the writers have been doing is binge-watching old primetime programs, what with the references to The Golden Girls and Knots Landing, not to mention “Selma Diamond!” Are we to assume that “Night Court” was another Ron C. fave??????

Thank you, Shay. Yes, yes and yes and if Ron is going to emulate an old comedy, why not emulate Arrested Development where each character either utters”I’ve made a huge mistake” or “There’s always money in the banana stand” at one point or another.
AnD CC? I hear you about LOL’s. I put them in the same category as smiley faces. Someone writes something slightly evil and they think a smiley face or a LOL makes it all right.

Lets see Robin bring her marriage back from the dead…lol…what if Robin is somehow trying to revive baby Gabriel or Rafe and thats what she doesnt want him to find out…i think Levi Dumbkindork is behind the drugs and Patricks accident and son of fluke…still wish fluke is somehow David Lockert…TGs first soap role from Bright Promise but he could still be Jerry or Bill! Why cant Monica be part of the fluke storyline…maybe the Q mansion is haunted…Monica hears footsteps in the hall at night, eerie whispering and laughter coming from behind Edwards portrait, sees Alan leaving the Qs crypt, blood oozing from the shower…Monica thinks she is going mad until one day Tracy hears strange noises too…Ned disbelieves house is haunted until he himself feels an unseen hand touch his shoulder when all the lights go out…all unaware fluke is behind the haunting of the Q mansion and all this time living in a secret room and lurking in unknown passageways throughout the mansion…fluke wants the mansion and hopes to drive out the Qs including Tracy so he can take it over!!!!!

My lousy editing: meant to say Tracy feels the unseen hand and Ned is pushed down the Quartimaine stairs by a dark figure as all the lights go out…

Im wrong…it was Victor…i shouldve known…lol

Whatever you say, jimh. Everything you write is gospel to me. I am your biggest fan. Plus, sounds good to me.

What Cee Cee said. (I am also really wanting to edit my posts, Jim). Anyway, great post.

What is the big deal with unfreezing the corpses? Didn’t they just turn the machine off with LuLu?

Yes, nothing is explained. Lulu was frozen, she was revived. Stavros was unfrozen by Helena years ago, now he’s waiting to be unfrozen again. Everything is just so thin and written like the audience is a bunch of eight year olds (which would explain all the story and screen time for Spencer) although kids shows that I have seen actually provide information and fill in holes. The show, the writing, is a joke and it is treated like a joke by the writers and the Network.

I wonder how the hundreds of people who worked on General Hospital over the course of decades, building a legacy, providing exceptional, groundbreaking entertainment, advancing a genre and creating countless wonderful memories must feel when they see what has become of this show.

You have read my mind. Very well said.

GH50-
GH is awesome and modern..
ALL tv shows and movies do not explain everything, it moves on..
On night the man is in the hospital dying the next scene he is riding a bike lol
soaps can not stay formatted as in the 70, 80, 90’s they need to get into the 21st century media and be fast paced (the 21st century is fast fast fast and not many has time or want to watch hours of explanations, they want things to move on as the tv series and movies…. ..
GH is as it should be … 🙂

Su0000 I have no idea what your point is. The point that Curacaoman and I were making is that Robin is spending her days trying to figure out how to unfreeze three people. However, people on the show have already been unfrozen, Lulu and Stavros. It has already been done. Are we supposed to forget that? Should there be an explanation as to why this situation is different and the previous methods of unfreezing can’t be used? The answer is yes and it would take very little dialogue to do so.

Your explanation of soaps not being formatted like the 70’s or 80″s has no relevance to this conversation.

Hey… how about bringing the character home to stay and let Robin (recast if you have to!) and Patrick rekindle their romance and love and marriage and family… as the leading doctors at General Hospital where they are involved in stories about patients there, Port Charles citizens and mob family members, among them. Where they may be caught up in professional challenges and family crises. And honest human relationships that do not involve selective resurrections and impossible-to-believe science. I like a little reality on the menu, too, please. GH, when the Cassidines were first introduced crossed a line that weather control machine!) and I am not sure the series ever recovered its heart. The dark mob stories and unpunished crimes also have yetto be corrected. We have top talent in all sectors. Please find a way to center on what made GH so engaging. It was not the stunts and supernatural goings-on. I want romance. I want mystery. I want family. As much as I like the team members, I find it increasingly difficult to remain a die-hard fan.

The girl who left Y&R who played Chloe would make an excellent Robin. Cast her now!

I’m just really tired of Robin coming up with reasons and excuses for not being there for Patrick when he’s needed her. The writing for her character recently has made her unrecognizable. And I don’t blame Patrick for finally ending his relationship with Robin, but I really hope that doesn’t mean he’ll be paired with Sabrina when she (unfortunately) returns.

I assume there is more to the story, and that Jason isn’t actually dead, especially with the rumors that Billy Miller is joining the show. I think it would have been much more dramatic that Sam run into a very much alive Jason instead of Patrick at the end of yesterday’s show.

But the hands down worst part of the show yesterday was that employee guy telling Sam he’d rather her “fatten something else.” Good lord he was mega creepy! I swear, are he and Mickey Diamond related? That would totally be something Mickey would have said.

The “fatten something else” line was so ridiculous and emblematic of how low brow this show has become and how it appeals to the lowest common denominator.

Sexual innuendo is fine and funny when done well. That line was nothing more than frat boy humor with the maturity level of a teenager. Similar to when Nathan said that Maxi enjoyed his meat. Seriously, just so crass and not funny. This crew can’t write drama, they can’t write comedy, seriously who are these people in the GH writing room and how do they have jobs? The show has sunk so low and the writing is just so amateurish. I really have just about had it.

When Sam was offering him the cash for info on Nina, he should’ve something like ‘I havent had a raise in years, and im not talking about the money!’ that line wouldv’e been more acceptable…imo…kind of like something a funny Mae West might have written…just a thought!!!

I’m so glad someone else was as appalled as I was about the “meat” line delivered by Nathan…..I actually felt embarrassed for Ryan Paevey having to utter such a grossly off-color double entendre. Despite my disgust, I did not even want to dignify that comment with a response at the time it occurred. But that follow-up the other day with Sam and the techie freak was beyond the pale…..it was sophomoric and deplorable. Added to the ongoing sexual innuendo that Fluke spouted for these oh so many months, it simply demonstrates how totally bereft of talent and creativity this bunch of buffoon writers has become.

My thoughts exactly, Jimmy. That is a facsimile of what I have been trying to say. It is not the fact that we are hating Robin…that word is very foreign to me anyway, but the way her character is being written . Yes, there could be extenuating circumstances as to why she appears so remote….so distant. But, the fact remains that she could have given Patrick a sign of sorts. Not to say that Patrick was gushing with love either. The accidental meeting struck me as rigid and the atmosphere cold….the dialogue forced….rigid…stilted. I suppose this is an indication that this marriage is finally over. Married people do not normally act this way toward each other, no matter how long they’d been apart..just the opposite.. Right?
The employee at the clinic? Wow! He was beyond creepy. I’m surprised Sam didn’t punch him out. However, there is no way anyone will find anything untoward about Nina….not at this time.

Good Lord, you all are making me so happy I am not watching this middle school drivel.
Remember when AMCs Aiden used to speak about his “spotted dick”? Get your minds out of the gutter, folks! Spotted Dick is a British dessert. But my point is that Aiden spoke of his spotted dick with wide eyed innocence. The writers did not feel compelled to inject middle school conversation into the dialogue. They left that up to the viewers.

The August 7th show will answer many, many questions….and leave you with a few new ones! Great show today!

For shame, jimh….very fitting pun…Lol

No, it is not curtains for Scrubs. Happy people on a soap means zero story, so this is just angst for Scrubs and nothing more.

This silly storyline will actually be great if she can revive Alan and Emily Quatermaine and her first love Stone..How about Lili, Sonny’s wife that died in the car explosion..Lili, Carly and Sunny in a romance triangle..Now that is a great storyline..If they can unfreeze and bring people back from the dead, why not them.??

I think Stavros, Helena and Jason were kryogenically frozen right when they died, and therefore their bodies were preserved. Alan and Emily both died 7 years ago and Lilly died 18 years ago… their bodies have definitely already begun to decompose and having been dead for so long, I don’t think it would be possible to bring them back now.

Maybe Ted Williams’ will be de thawed and he can whack the hell out of the Cassadines with his baseball bat.

Yah She should reanimate all the dead and GH can have a Walking
Dead story, that would rock..
Zombies in Port Charles!! love it!

Or Jason can be like a frankenstein.. ..

Zombies are very popular!

Evidently all of your friends are Zombies which would make you the life of the party.

It is 8:45 PM in the east coast, su0000, and I’m still cracking up….your imagination slays me.

I have never been a huge Robin fan. She’s had moments where I root for her, or really enjoyed her (usually with her parents or with longtime friends like Sonny). I’ve also never been a huge Patrick fan, especially after Guza had him cheat on Robin.

That being said, especially with these recent episodes, I was SO Team Robin, I should’ve had a shirt made. Honestly, Patrick has been so inconsiderate and selfish, it’s unbelievable. I understand being upset that your wife, who you just got back, is gone, but she’s not on vacation. She’s SAVING LIVES. Especially the life of a man who meant a lot to her, who was one of her closest friends, practically family. As a doctor, your main objective in life is to put others first, to save others. She didn’t leave forever and, obviously, she has access to a phone. As she mentioned in this episode, it’s also not just about Jason anymore. If she succeeded, this could be (in this fictional reality), a lifesaver for SO many people. Young people with terminal diseases could be frozen and then brought back when there is a cure found and knowing Robin’s history, Patrick should accept this decision. Robin has a horrible disease that caused her first love’s death at a young age. Stone never really got to live a full life and experience the things everyone should. Robin doesn’t want her daughter, who, at Emma’s birth, was at risk of HIV due to a cut on her ear, to ever have to fear never living a fulfilling life.

Also, Patrick keeps saying “You weren’t there when my son was dying!”. Um, Patrick? You BARELY cared about Gabriel until that accident. You hardly gave Sabrina the time of day and you never made a sincere effort to be there for your unborn child. CARLOS stepped up more than Patrick ever did.

Thank you, Nikki!!! I, too, have found Patrick’s condescending and nasty attitude toward Robin extremely misplaced and unreasonable. Excuse me, but what wife on earth would care to be present for the birth/death of her husband’s illegitimate child by someone who so pales to her in comparison? To even suggest that she should have shown overwhelming concern, not to mention, actually turned up for those events takes unmitigated gall on Drake Jr.’s part!! How many other women would choose to do that, let alone under Robin’s circumstances, which truly prevented it? Only a self-absorbed jerk would put those kind of demands on his spouse….I could understand if Emma had been injured in that collision and needed her mother, but beyond that situation, I see no justifiable reason for Patrick to harbor such outlandish expectations of his wife. He has behaved deplorably and needs to get over himself….the sun didn’t rise and fall around him, nor his ex-chippy and her offspring, so to act as if it should for Robin, particularly after all the trauma she has faced in these past few years, is simply revolting and truly uncalled for.

I agree with what you mostly say, Shay. But, I believe a child needs her mother at all times, not just during an injury or illness. I keep repeating myself here…there’s no good reason for a mother abandoning her child unless said mother was protecting said child from hard. If that is the case, that Robin is forced to behave so erratically and irrationally, then I will take a step back…or two.
Patrick? I don’t even know what to say about this character anymore. His role needs to be edited and rewritten, if it is to be without Robin, sobeit….as long as he and Sabrina do not get re-acquainted either. I had previously stated that he has been emasculated….stripped of his virility and manhood. All he does is cry. I have never seen a man “invoke” tears so readily …on the spot….so emotional…lol. It seems that he is now Sam’s cohort on her quest to find out anything villainous about Nina. He does not need to be Sam’s puppy. Please writers, do not push this character into obscurity.

@CeeCee….Actually we are in agreement on that issue, as well….I strenuously voiced the same opposition and reservations to Robin up and leaving her daughter when this particular arc began, but unfortunately, that ship has now sailed, thus, Dr. Scorpio-Drake is currently looked upon as a woman who willingly abandoned her child, despite our knowing the truth behind her seemingly inexplicable “choice” to go and rescue Jason (et al) from their frozen limbo. The thing that is beyond belief is that even though Patrick knows some of the backstory, he still doesn’t seem to “get” that Robin is hiding the reality of her situation. All he had to do was take a moment to look in her eyes and see her desperation and fear…..there right before him was the true window to her soul and what this sad saga is really all about, but he was too blinded by his constant anger at her to even absorb what was so apparent to anyone with a brain. That’s what I find to be so unbelievable and unforgiveable about his reaction….there should have been some tenderness, some relief at seeing his spouse for the first time in months, but instead he just launched into more of his unreasonable nonsense at her. It was false and unrealistic…no chemistry or love there on his side at all. It’s as if he couldn’t even consider for a moment that his better half has been through hell and back for years now, and yet it was all about him and his dead son, with only a bit of Emma thrown in for good measure….as if Robin had no concern whatsoever for her own child. To say the confrontation was disappointing and disheartening is an understatement. But then, that has been my opinion of what Patrick has become since the day he (supposedly) lost Robin and particularly after he met up with that unnecessary nurse….the entire episode of those two and their absurd association has been appalling in how it transformed Drake Jr. into first a weeping eunuch and now p*$$y mister. (And incidentally, this is by no means a criticism of either JT or KMc….they are only performing the material as it has been dictated by the showrunners….just wanted to make that clear!)

Gotcha, Shay. Clear as a bell. You are very expressive with your words.
Let’s just hope that when Sabrina comes back, her place will not be with Patrick. As you say, his character will not move forward but remain in frozen limbo.

I think the show could really improve on dialogue, but in terms of storylines and direction, it’s gotten much better from the Guza/Wolf & Phelps days. RC knows how to add excitement and fun to a show, and the suspense and true drama has increased considerably since he and FV took over. With that said though, some of the stories have been pretty ridiculous and the dialogue between characters has gotten worse.

But if you really want poor writing, watch Y&R. Jean Passanante and Shelly Altman are not fit to be head writers. There is no excitement, thrills or gripping drama on Y&R anymore, and with so many beloved actors gone (Jeanne Cooper, Michelle Stafford, Billy Miller, Michael Muhney, Elizabeth Hendrickson), the show is barely recognizable now. The pace of the storytelling is deathly slow, the stories themselves are boring, and while the dialogue has improved, without interesting storylines that doesn’t mean much.

Victor is running the show so we know that at least one or two dastardly Cassidines will be revived. I also think Fluke would be a Cassidine in disguise but the problem with that theory is Fluke hates Sonny and Sonny really has never dealt with the Cassidines.

Ugh, so much hatred here from fans. No show is perfect but GH is damn good and I never miss it. I have my quibbles, too but they are never as important as what is so right with GH and the great work that Valentini, Carlivati and company have done to keep this show on the air.

I’m not saying that we don’t all have the right to our opinions, but why do so few people have anything positive to say? Why are comment sections used as a verbal vomitorium? You spread negativity, you get it back.

Totally agree with you mfarris70. Valentini and Cartini brought GH back to its former glory. Sure, it’s not perfect (it never will be). But it’s way better than when Guza was around and the ratings proves it. And no, I’m not a former OLTL fan (never watched that show except from some random episodes here and there).

Janet, thanks for taking the time to read my comment. As you can see, my positive attitude about GH is not much appreciated here.

What you say is true. It is’t fair to regurgitate upon the writers or the characters. But, what if what we are fed gives us indigestion?
Imagine a la-di-da conversation…as I said, this site is here to discuss, with pros and cons. I will agree that there should be a modicum of respect. Plus, there are plenty of us who applaud the show. There is a balance, if you take the time to read ALL the posts. I love GH…I disagree with the way some of the storylines go, but I, for one, am a faithful watcher of all my favorite soaps. Are you related to Levi, perchance?

I do read the posts and there is not a balance. Simple arithmetic proves that.

No one said anything about not appreciating GH and its writers. We discuss what we feel positively and negatively. You should not be so insolent, especially to harry, who is such a fan of the soap. Please be nice and express yourself without being disrespectful.

MFarris–here you go again, reducing fans’ disappointment to hatred. Once again, hate is not the opposite of love–indifference is. If fans didn’t give a damn they (we) would not be here voicing what is wrong with GH.
The love it or leave it mantra is a bit outdated and reminds me of the days of the John Birch society.

And there you go again putting words in my mouth that I never said.

I love GH, none better..
2 things I do not care for are Olivia and Robin..
I need to tolerate Robin and FF the irritant but I do not ‘hate’ her..
The soap characters are not real people to hate, they are fictional ..
Hate is a very strong emotion that stays in the real world with real people..
Anyone who can actually hate a fictional character needs help, run do not walk to the nearest therapist..

Su00, the only people who use the word hate here are folks like yourself and other rabidly defensive GH defenders. Please stop throwing around the word hate or haters–it’s extreme and only makes you look foolish.
And as far as your last sentence is concerned, there is so much wrong with it, I do not even know where to start. First, there is nothing wrong with hating a fictional character. Nothing. As you like to remind us time and time again, it’s not real life, hence not real characters. As long as people can distinguish between fiction and reality, as most here are capable of doing, there is absolutely nothing wrong with hating a soap character. Second, this coming from you, a person who has redundantly said time and time again that you not only hate Robin, you hate the actress who plays her, makes it seem like you are being willfully obtuse when it comes to the message you redundantly keep conveying. AND the fact that you have wished her (Robin) dead time and time again to such a point where it is disturbing, serves as an example of hypocrisy at its greatest. I find you telling people that they need to seek therapy to remedy this pattern to be both laughable and disturbing.
Doctor, please heal thyself first.

Nancy Lee Grahn’s Star-Studded ALS Fundraiser Reveals “I’ll Be There” Video Featuring Soap Opera Notables

Talk about your impressive line-up! It’s a soap fans dream and for a great cause. General Hospital’s Nancy Lee Grahn (Alexis Davis) is prepping her one-night only ALS fundraiser which will feature many of her friends and co-stars.

The benefit is set for May 4th in Glendale, California. Slated to participate are Genie Francis, Jane Elliot, Peter Bergman, Maurice Benard, Eileen Davidson, Thorsten Kaye, Michelle Stafford, Stephen Nichols, Rena Sofer, Jason Thompson, Kelly Monaco, Melissa Claire Egan, Maura West, Kristina Wagner, Gregory Harrison, Trevor St. John, Kate Mansi, Kirsten Storms, Cynthia Watros, and many others.

On Wednesday, Grahn took to her social media and released an “I’ll be there” video shout-out featuring, Monaco, Elliot, Bergman, Bernard, West, Harrison, St. John and more. In a touching and important moment in the new video, Michelle Strogny, who is battling ALS, is featured.

Previously, in speaking with Soap Opera Digest on the impetus of the event, Grahn recalled, “I was actually doing Zoom events during Covid and I met this woman that I just fell in love with, Michelle Strojny. At the time, Michelle had been living with ALS for four years. Now, it’s five years. She is a mom of a teenage son, she has the most wonderful husband, and she has been dealing with this [disease] for quite a while. And obviously, there isn’t a cure yet. It’s not survivable yet. But as she says, it’s not incurable. Nothing is; it’s underfunded. But anyway, I just really dug this woman. She is so grounded and filled with grace, and she spends all of her time working to raise money for the cause. We did a fundraiser for her last year and then I thought, ‘You know what? The soaps don’t ever get together to do something for charity.’ Collectively, we have this amazing community and we don’t collectively use it for a good cause, and I think it’s such an easy thing for us to do and we could potentially really make a difference.”

As GH viewers know, Gregory Harrison is playing the character of Gregory Chase, who is also battling ALS in a touching storyline that is currently playing out shedding a light on this disease.

‘General Hospital’ Writer Shannon Peace Let Go, and Shares on Sprina: “One of My Only Regrets is to Not Have the Opportunity to Develop That ‘Ship’ Further”

As General Hospital’s new head writing team of Elizabeth Korte and Patrick Mulcahy gets off the ground and running, there are still changes a foot on the writing team.

Now comes word via breakdown writer Shannon Peace that she is no longer on contract with the long-running ABC soap heading into its 61st season. Peace shared a heartfelt message on her Instagram, thanking the fans, and the show for the opportunity and the importance of diversity in the writers room.

Peace began, “After almost 3 years on staff and 106 episodes penned, I am no longer on contract with General Hospital. Writing for this country’s longest running television serial drama has been an education of epic proportions; I will forever be grateful that I earned my WGA card on a daytime fixture that holds memories for so many.” (Peace pictured below with GH EP Frank Valentini and script writer, Charlotte Gibson from about ten months ago).

Shannon added “Even more importantly, as the sole Black breakdown writer (and only POC in the writers room) during my tenure, I pushed for vital interactions and discussions that prioritized inclusion, visibility, and representation”

The writer pointed to the example of vital interaction when in story, “Stella and Portia’s frank July 2022 conversation about the role race played in Esme’s framing of Trina is just one example of the impact I’m gratified to have had.”

Acknowledging former GH co-head writers was also part of Peace’s farewell expressing, “Appreciation to my former bosses, Chris Van Etten and Dan O’Connor – not only taking a chance on me, but for valuing my opinion and championing my voice.”

Many GH fans know that Peace was key to the development of the love story between Trina Robinson and Spencer Cassadine as played by Tabyana Ali and Nicholas Chavez. Shannon gave a special shout-out to ‘Sprina’ fans, “I also want to thank fans who were supportive of my work, especially the recognition of my love for ‘Sprina’. One of my only regrets is not having to develop that ‘ship’ further.”

She concludes her statement with,”In the aftermath of a historic writer’s strike that shed new light on the troubling ways writers are regarded in daytime, my sincere hope is that General Hospital recommits to valuing staff writer efforts and input, with a more intentional focus on diverse viewpoints — and thrives for another 60 years.”

Accompanying her post, Shannon added, “Thank you all for the love and support these last few years. I hope GH fans get all they hope for and more!”

So, what do you think about GH not renewing Shannon’s contract? Will there be more continued changes afoot? What do you think is the future of ‘Sprina’ anyway at this point as viewers wait to see if Nicholas Chavez officially returns to the show?  Comment below.

GENERAL HOSPITAL: Jason Learns Britt Died and Tells Anna He Has Been Working For Cates Since November 2021

On the Tuesday, March 26th of General Hospital, Anna (Finola Hughes) and the viewers learn about where Jason (Steve Burton) has been for over two and half years. However, Jason gets some news of his own.

Anna is visiting Jason at the PCPD interrogation room. She asks him if he shot Dante (Dominic Zamprogna), which he flatly denies. Anna believes him, but she tells Jason it doesn’t matter, because video footage shows him on the roof at the time of the shooting

When talk turns to Jason not willing to speak without his lawyer present, Anna can’t grasp why Jason would instead spend an hour alone talking with John Cates (Adam J. Harrington).

Photo: ABC

It is then that Anna brings up that John went by “Jagger” and that the two of them knew each other in high school. Jason doesn’t recall much of his time in high school following his brain injury, but then he gets furious realizing John knew about “Jason’s” past. That is when Jason slams the table and tells Anna, “I’ve been working for John Cates since November 2021.”

Next, Jason explains further that he has been working as an informant for the FBI. Anna wants to know how this came about and he tells her that after the tunnel collapsed, and he couldn’t make it to Britt (Kelly Thiebaud)… all of a sudden he sees Anna’s face drop.  Anna is the first person to tell him that Britt died and was murdered. She tells Jason the killer is in custody, but he continues to be shocked, overwhelmed with tears welling up in his eyes. Realizing he has to pivot to save his life, Jason continues telling Anna how he wound up working with John.

Jason explains that after the tunnel collapse in Greece, FBI agents grabbed him and placed him under arrest and took him to Quantico where he met John. At Quantico, John played a recording of RICO violations and offered Jason a deal if he agreed to be an informant against Pikeman, the illegal arms dealer.

Anna hears from Jason that he thinks Pikeman is selling illegal arms to anyone flagged by the NSA but has ties to the WSB which they needed a civilian to infiltrate their organization as a military soldier, a mercenary.

Jason tells Anna he was a part of the team brought into eliminate Sonny (Maurice Benard). Every time an attempt was made on Sonny’s life over the last two years, a different team was sent to do the job. Anna gets furious when she learns that John told Jason his job was to kill Sonny and she was with John at the warehouse that night. Jason ensured the sniper missed Sonny and left the rifle behind. However, they were supposed to meet an extraction team. Before he was shot, Dante saw it was Jason on the roof and when he turned around with his hands over his head, Dante was shot by the other guy. Jason says if Dante dies, he’ll be charged with capital murder and then will be useless to the FBI.

Meanwhile, John visits Bobbie’s and runs into Carly (Laura Wright). She learns Jason is in custody and is going to head to the PCPD. Before she does, Carly has some words with Cates when she learns not only does John have a vendetta against Sonny, but Jason too.  Carly tells John he should recuse himself from the case.

So, what did you think about the moment when Jason learned Britt died? What do you think of Jason’s return storyline thus far and what we learned about Jagger/Jason and more? Comment below. But first, check out a moment from today’s GH with Jason and Anna.
