GENERAL HOSPITAL Preview: What is the Fate of Michael with the Impending Exit of Chad Duell?
This week on General Hospital, looks to be a pivotal moment in the life of Michael Corinthos and his family and loved ones. As has been previously reported, Chad Duell made the decision to exit the ABC soap opera after almost 15 years in the role.
GH EP Frank Valentini had teased on Michael’s exit, “I can promise a great story for Michael and his family when Chad exits in the new year.” He also added, “There are no plans to recast his role at this time, but you never know in daytime.”
However, spoilers had presumably leaked out on the internet that on the Tuesday January 7th, Michael is in peril in a fire, and its Sonny and Jason to the rescue. The question becomes, if that holds true … what is the plan for the character of Michael from here?

Photo: ABC
On Sunday’s State of Mind, Maurice Benard (Sonny) sat down with Duell for part one of an interview. However, part two streams next Sunday were the on-screen father/son will get into Chad’s exit. It would seem that Chad’s final airshows may be upon us this week without official confirmation from GH.
Take a look at the GH spoilers for the week of January 6-10th below.
MONDAY, JANUARY 6
Willow is distraught. Carly vents to Jason. Michael is in danger. Josslyn makes a discovery. Brad lashes out.
TUESDAY, JANUARY 7
Jason and Sonny rush to action. Nina delivers bad news. Chase opens up to Sasha. Brook Lynn makes a revelation. Portia confides in Isaiah.
WEDNESDAY, JANUARY 8
Sonny wants answers. Anna needs Brennan’s help. Jason makes a request of Lucas. Nina advises Willow. Drew interrupts Carly.
THURSDAY, JANUARY 9
Ric tries to sway Alexis. Cyrus does some eavesdropping. Willow takes control. Diane and Martin spar. Carly and Sonny lean on each other.

So, what do you think will happen to the character of Michael? Will he be disfigured? Will this shocking moment lead to a decision for Michael leave Port Charles? Share your thoughts on what will go down via the comment section.
Given the “accidentally leaked video” I’m predicting that Mikey will be very badly burned, but he will survive the fire. He will be wrapped up like a mummy, and shipped off to recover off screen in a “long term facility”.
Because of the burns, they have already laid the grounds for “plastic surgery”, should there be a recast in the near future. Or, there could be a “miraculous recovery with no scars”, should Chad choose to return.
If this scenario seems familiar to anybody, it should. Because it’s exactly what they did to Brenda Barrett in the first season of the GH spinoff “Night Shift”. In that case, they chickened out of the recast – probably due to massive fan backlash – and though her face was never shown – in the last episode, they removed her bandages and the doctors were astonished to find her face completely healed.
Whether it’s Chad or a recast, I don’t see them leaving Mikey AWOL for very long. He’s too important to the canvas, and most of all, his kids can not be left in the hands of Willow, Hallmark Drew, or Nina.

This is exactly what I am thinking, too.
This way of he returns it could be a different actor.
I love General show since High School. Michael he was the best Actor? I was in tears he is badly burned, I don’t think you’ll Just to survive this
I agree. I hate when actors,/actresses play a role so long then they decide to leave. why? They developed fans and we are left feeling sad about their families.
Sam died, now Michael leaving children without a mother or father.
I think these writers should think of the children, recast would be better than nothing.
I have watched GH for 60 years. It’s
So sad they are killing off the best
Actors. Also too much violence and
Sex.
It’s Chad Duell’s decision to leave; he has every right to talk away from the role if he so chooses, and doesn’t owe anyone anything.
With so many male actors leaving the show in the past year, it is time to bring for “GH” to bring in some new actors for the likes of Alexis, Diane, Ava, Anna, Tracy, Carly. I’m hoping Diane gets with Martin and Carly with Brennon. Carly and Brennon have been dancing around each other for more than a year. Same with Jordan and Isaiah. Just go on a date already.
With the new male actors, please make them strong without being ridiculous like Drew. The character has been poorly written and is so bad, it is turning me against the Cameron Mathison. I would love to see Anna reconnect with Valentin.
I can’t handle Cameron Mathison, he’s a horrible actor. I think I’d the writers had any sense, they’d send him to DC asap, and maybe Willow could go visit him and a better not wimpy Willow would come home.
I couldn’t agree more!
Agreed. Get rid of Cameron
Oh agree. Don’t even want to wremoved. Hallmark movies anymore. Actor also seems cocky arrogant in some recent photos he posted on Instagram which have since be removed.
Yes, he did indeed post some rather questionable photos of himself cracking a horizontal smile. Something Drew would do for a campaign advertisement.
I don’t like the way the writers have did Drew he was a very decent man but they had him going went Michael wife which is wrong, but please people it is wrong to not give him credit, he is a very good actor and I love watching him on Hallmark people needs to stop making it hard for this man with talking all this bad stuff about him,you would not want anyone to destroy your job be very careful.
I agree he is just acting how it’s written so he is a good actor! We just hate the characters actions!! I hate Chad is leaving. Oh and Sasha having his baby!
You will be missed Chad
It will come out is Michael’s baby, they will find a piece of paper in the burnt rubble. Stating his wishes for the baby and they will put the puzzle together, quatermaines will try to get custody of their err.
Willow need to get her just do she acting all innocent that’s how she got Michael acting like she’s so true blue
How was that photo cocky/arrogant, though?
Have a feeling he’ll go up in flames, and be in an endless coma to “save” him from his burns, and when he awakens, it’ll be with a new actor (as Michael had facial reconstruction surgery, due to his burns). So heavily predictable.
Will Michael once again pay the price for his adopted father’s misdoings? Maybe every 15-20 years the character is “in the wrong place at the wrong time”?
It looks like extra-crispy Michael will be sent off to a burn clinic/rehab. The character will likely remain off screen for the rest of 2025. Whether Duell or someone else plays him, Michael will likely be back sometime next year.
Ramifications for many on the canvas. Interesting to see Josslyn’s reaction to her brother’s situation as she’s been through a whole lot in 12 months.
I think that he is going to be badly burned and I think that he is going off somewhere for his burns to another hospital and take care of his burns.. I also think he’s going to be gone for a while which you did read that he is going off the show, but who knows like they always still bring people back they liked for us to be surprised. Because Sasha‘s having his baby and the other girl gonna be pregnant, who is gonna be the baby’s day Michael or Drew Sasha baby is by Michael. They kept saying Jason is never coming back. He did take a long time coming back, but I think he is either being returned Michael Corinthia or someone else is gonna play for him. They don’t have no ideal if he’s going to return, but I think that’s what’s gonna happen. He is coming back. He also spoke about his family and he lost his father so he’s taking a break like most people do go and be gone for a long long time they gotta do something to go off the shelf for a while like they’re dead. . My
Michael will die
They’re not killing off the character.
I hope not
Can almost guarantee that won’t happen. The most “legacy” of legacy characters – 3 core families. Rare to have that connected a character, but good to give them a rest every decade or 2.
Not going to happen. Michael is a Spencer, a Quartermaine, and a Corinthos. And his unborn child is a Scorpio, despite the dragonshit insanity of rewriting Sasha’s parentage.
That makes Mikey the future “franchise quarterback” of this show. There’s no way he’s getting killed off. Even a long term absence is going to really hurt the show.
I agree
I agree
I think so to.
Does the new writing team only know how to write tragedies? Geez, first Sam, then Dex and now Michael. Couldn’t they just have him leave town for a while? The coma route again? REALLY?? GH has a talented cast, great casting director and a good EP. Put these talents to good use. Please no more new characters. The cast is bloated as it is!
Please no more comas and or facial reconstruction
Wish chad would stay on show will muss him good actor. Love him as Sonny’s son, they already took morgan come on. First Sam Mcall , Dex , now Michael what is going on negotiations need to bw made to keep some of the actors
Michael wanted to leave,he is a great actor
He will service so he can return if he needs too. Like I said all long there are key people that u just can’t replace with others there to many to name.. Chad is one of them… He has done awesome job with the roll of Michael Q/ C.. other then Chad taking over the little red headed kid that was there frist is also Good at this role..when is Monaco coming back? Jaxs? No Sonny can’t leave or Carly I can go on an on….
I am happy that GH is still around after all these years. I have been a fan for 40 years. I have forgotten more srory lines than I can
remember. Some characters I love, some I hate, and there are those I love to hate. I don’t pretend to be a writer and choose not critique. I will just kerp watching.
They ruined drew after billy miller left, as for Michael they shouldn’t have done anything drastic, they should’ve JUST RECASTED HIM with robert Adamson for the time being in case Chad duell wants to come back.. drew willow Michael triangle id stupid, we’ll find odds are willow will probably become pregnant but it’ll be idk who the daddy is but will cone out to be drews after willow finds out about Drew and ninas romping
Frank Valentini doesn’t hire pinch-hitters as full-time replacements, hence why Robert Adamson isn’t walking into the role.
I don’t want Michael to leave
I don’t either Neither did I want Sam to leave
Michael leaves town with the kids. Leaving willow destroyed and leaning on drew even more.
Please keep Michael on! Recast him if necessary!
They won’t be recasting at this time. And, in all honesty, the role needs a break.
Love Michael hate to see him go.15 yrs fans love you .hope to see you again. Maybe we will get recast .take care God Bless…
If Chad decides to come back after taking extended his break, they can have Michael use the same doctor Valentin and Ava used for reconstructive surgery. That would explain Michael’s miraculous healing.
That clinic wasn’t exactly the best medical establishment. Remember, that’s the same place that was holding Jason hostage as a drugged up zombie for 5 years.
Assuming it is even still in operation, since it was owned by Faison, and he and his son Whiny Heiny are both here in Hell now.
It’s silly for Michael to leave now with his wife having an affair with his Uncle that gives her complete custody of the children. If Michael dies his children and Willo should also leave the story leaves a opening for her to go to Washington with Drew and l am sick of them.
The explosion/fire is a great caveat in recasting Michael. It would be asinine not to recast, now that he has another opportunity to make Nina look stupid and a new kid on the way. The tension between Nina, Carly, Willow, Drew, Jason and Sonny….EPIC!!!
Michael’s character or persona on GH will not be disfigured. He won’t be found. They (the officials) will not be able to find a body, leaving an opening for a reappearance at some point in time.
Willow and Drew do not deserve a ” happily ever after !!!” Willow does not deserve the children. She is too selfish. I will really miss Michael.
Rebecca – I want Michael to leave be. I want that nut discovered killing him, arrest him’ and give Michael an antidote. Then either Willow wak s up and begs his forgives; or Sasha tells Michael that she loves him and wants him so please survive for their unborn child. KEEP HIM ALIVE
Like Chad Dual, I am taking a break from GH. With so much heartache going on in our real world, the last thing I want to watch is a show filled with nothing except hate and violence. Wake up Valentini. What you are really killing is GH !

‘General Hospital’ Alum Kelly Monaco Reveals She’s Six Months Sober

Longtime General Hospital favorite, Kelly Monaco (ex-Sam McCall), took to her Instagram on Tuesday, September 15 and shared that she is six months, seven days sober from alcohol. Monaco played Sam for 21 years on the ABC soap opera.
Accompanied by a screenshot from the I Am Sober app that tracks the progress of anyone struggling with or trying to not drink, Monaco wrote, “Now the whole 6/7 thing makes sense! #duces.”
Monaco has kept a very low profile since her final episode on General Hospital aired back on October 30, 2024, when Sam had a shocking heart attack and died. It was later revealed that Daytime Emmy nominee, Jeff Kober (ex-Cyrus Renault) injected Sam’s IV with a fatal dose of digitalis.

Soap Alums Remembered During In Memoriam Segment at 78th Emmy Awards; Patrick Muldoon Omitted

During last night’s 78th annual Primetime Emmy Awards ceremony, as it does every year, the television academy paid tribute to those in the industry that they’ve lost over the last year; since the previous Emmys held each year in September.
Starting with an emotional tribute to the late Catherine O’Hara by three of her co-stars, Schitt’s Creek’s Annie Murphy and Dan Levy and Home Alone’s Macaulay Culkin, the segment then dovetailed into Noah Kahan performing “Bridge over Troubled Water” as the faces and the names of those being remembered were shown on the screen.
Daytime soap alums, who either stayed in the genre for the majority of their career, or went on to primetime success as well, were honored including: Anthony Geary (Luke, GH), Hayden Panettiere (Sarah, OLTL, Lizzie, GL, Juliette, Nashville), James Van Der Beek, (Dawson, Dawson’s Creek, and Stephen, ATWT), Gil Gerard (Alan, The Doctors), June Lockhart (Mariah, GH), Patricia Crowley (Mary, Port Charles and GH), Randolph Mantooth (Clay/Alex, Loving and The City, and Richard, GH) and Jon Cypher (Alex, ATWT and Arthur, Santa Barbara).

THOSE HONORED AND THOSE WHO WERE NOT
However, in a glaring omission, the producers of the In Memoriam failed to include Days of our Lives beloved star, Patrick Muldoon who played the OG Austin Reed and also Richard Hart on Melrose Place. Muldoon passed away in April of this year at 57.
After Kahan concluded his performance, a special tribute to Rob Reiner began with Jamie Lee Curtis taking to the stage to share some warm words about her late friend.
In a ironic and sad twist, Curtis shared ,“Last week, Robbie won an Emmy for guest actor in a comedy series for his beautiful work on The Bear, and he now holds the record of 48 years for the longest gap between acting Emmys, which was previously held by his father Carl Reiner, at 37 years.”
Reiner, who along with his wife, Michele Reiner were killed by their son, Nick Reiner, is currently awaiting a decision if he will stand trial. Prosecutors on Tuesday, shared they will not seek the death penalty if he is convicted at trial, but instead life in prison. Curtis said of Rob, “He was generous and kind and funny as hell, and a friend to all. We all miss Rob and Michele and all those we lost this year.” The Emmys then faded to black and went to commercial break.
So, were you happy to see those who you know from their work in soap operas included in the 2026 In Memoriam tribute at the Primetime Emmys? Share your thoughts in the comment section. But first, in case you missed it, you can watch it below.

GENERAL HOSPITAL: Jason and Britt Break Up After Realizing They Can’t Trust Each Other

Trust issues were cited as the reason for the break-up of Jason Morgan (Steve Burton) and Dr. Britt Westbourne (Kelly Thiebaud) on the Monday, September 14 episode of General Hospital, ending the their complicated romance once and for all.
The episode began with the pick-up of Jason and Britt’s argument over Anna Devane (Finola Hughes) at the Quartermaine boathouse. Britt is in disbelief that Jason continues to take Anna’s side, and that he will not back her up as her witness, as she wants to report Anna’s attempted murder of her to the PCPD.
Jason tells Britt that Anna had been pushed to the brink through the mental torture she’d endured while held captive at Wyndemere, and accused Britt of doing nothing to save her, when she knew exactly what was going on as she was at Wyndemere as well. Britt told Jason that she’d been a victim of Sidwell and Cullum too, and by the time she figured out what was happening to Anna, they had moved her somewhere else.

BELIEF SYSTEM BROKEN
Then, Jason clearly lets Britt know he doesn’t believe her version of what transpired. An enraged Britt fires back at Jason in disbelief, that he is siding with Anna instead of her, when he was on Mount Emerson and saw for himself how Anna was planning to kill her. Suddenly, Britt wants to know if Jason would have helped Anna cover her tracks, if Anna had killed her.
Next, Jason argued that Britt seemingly needs to believe Anna would have killed her when he knows deep down Anna would never have murdered her. Jason thinks Britt is trying to absolve herself of her own guilt and complicity in keeping Anna locked up.
Britt shouts “You need to believe that! Otherwise, you’d have to admit that your friend is unhinged and dangerous. And she would have killed someone you say you love!” Now at a complete impasse, Britt walks out on Jason realizing they don’t trust each other and calls it quits.

PICKING UP THE PIECES
Later, Jason finds Carly (Laura Wright) at the Metro Court, and while in an elevator fills her in that he doesn’t trust Britt, and that as much as he loves her, he doesn’t trust her like he does Carly. Britt is back at the hospital.
A concerned Tristan (Dean Geyer) tries to talk to her about what transpired with Anna. However, Britt clams up and walks away from any discussion.
Now in the General Hospital teaser video for the action on Tuesday, September 15, Jason ask Carly (over beers and a game of pool) “When you lie for a living, how long before you start lying to yourself? Take a look at that below.
Let us know, are you glad that Jason and Britt finally called it quits? What about the reason that the couple broke-up, over Britt knowing about Anna being locked-up at Wyndemere and Jason not willing to back Britt about Anna trying to kill her? Is Tristan the next man for Britt? Let us know your thoughts via the comment section.
