General Hospital Previews Their 60th Anniversary Cast Photo
Things are heating up for the upcoming 60th anniversary milestone for ABC’s General Hospital. The show turns 60 on April 1st of this year.
While PEOPLE has just released a 60th anniversary commemorative special edition issue for the daytime drama series called, General Hospital: Celebrating 60 Years of Love & Drama as well, they were present for the exclusive 60th cast photo shoot.

Now, coming this Tuesday, February 14th (Valentine’s Day) GH fans will get their first glimpse of the final cast photo.

off to the newsstand!
As I do for special (commemorative) episodes, this former staunch viewer will return for an episode or two in celebration of the 60th anniversary. Sixty years IS quite an achievement, particularly when one considers how the soap landscape has changed over the last 20 years.
I’m dying to see the cast photo, and definitely getting the People magazine asap. Love GH.
Spencer and Trina#2 are gawdawful..
Having them pictured as if they were or could be a super couple is not a good choice..
Spencer and Trina #1 were on their way to being a couple to be remembered..
New Trina is pretty and talented but a Trina she is not..
She could have been given a different role to play, but not thee Trina..
Always when recasting they attempt to cast as close as possible to the one being replaced..
But it is a fail with Trina #2, the difference is totally opposite.
Wonder why such an error was done, ooohh well it is what it is…
I will never accept Trina #2 with Spencer a lopsided couple for sure..
And to place their pictures on the cover of People is atrocious …
Just my opinion, others have theirs..
Outside of that- the cast photo is looking good..
wow! 60 years- Woodstock was 69…
Did GH have Hippies? Seems that generation was dominant so should
have been on soaps then, after all Woodstock was during the beginning as was
the Vietnam war- at that time…
I am hope for a good flashback photo layout inside… lol
Better be careful or you will be called a racist homophobe transphobic and anything nut jobs can think of to call you
Kay, no one is going to call SUOO a racist because she prefers the first Trina. The first Trina was also played by a beautiful African American girl. Please don’t try and cause trouble or stir up political strife when none exists.
Only if you are 😉
Seeing her on that cover is probably bothering your wicked soul….good!!!
SuOOO,,
Hey there, boy things are crazy these days on this board. But Su, you are so right on this Trina thing, never liked her in the part, another thing that so many will disagree with me about is Spencer. So many posters just think he is great and maybe that’s why I can’t stand him, he’s too good I guess but today when he was giving Dex such a hard time at the wedding all I could think of what an arrogant little S.O.B he was. I know I’ll be hated for this but Id love seeing him knocked down a few pegs. Too bad he and Joss didn’t get together, they are so much alike.
You mentioned Hippies, well I have to think that Luke, Laura and their crowd might come the closest. My kids were very little dury Woodstock and didn’t pay attention to what was going on there. The Soaps seemed to grab on though with stories of Cults and Communes.Y&R did a big story on that.
Well, hope I didn’t bore you too much, it was nice “chatting ” with you, you are a good captive audience, ha. Stay well and hold on to your opinions, they are as valid and interesting as anyone else’s, moreso maybe.
I love Spencer for bluntly saying,” I don’t like him” when referring to Dex. I don’t like him either- not one bit. I also think Spencer has sharp instincts when it comes to Dex. Dex sparks Spencer’s protective nature when it comes to his Buddy, Cameron.
I also think Nicholas Chavez is a great talent who most likely won’t be long for GH. This kid is going places.
Harry
You’ll probably like him even less when we find out he’s Sonny’s son. I feel like you do about spoiled, entitled, egotistical, self-centered, arrogant Spencer.
Violet! I love Spencer. All I know is that when he enters a scene, I am happy to see him. I think Spencer is a member of the Walking Wounded Club. Yes, he comes from wealth but his mother died when he was a baby, and his father abandoned and betrayed him time and time again. Spencer is a well drawn character, the poor little rich boy, and he’s played by a brilliant young actor.
Harry
It’s funny, I agree with all you say, but then why can’t I not stand him? What you say makes so much sense that next time I see him, I’ll try and remember your words.
Harry
So sorry I screwed up my last response to your comment of liking and admiring Nicholas Chevez, AKA Spencer. I apparently do not feel like you do and don’t know why I said what I did, just on a roll or senile, you pick one!
Violet, you never have to apologize for having a different opinion than my own. You get to hate a fictional character if you want. You’re certainly not alone. I dislike characters a lot of folks love. PS. Is it or me or does feel like Portia wouldn’t tell Curtis the truth as Jordan told her to do, just because she wanted the perfect wedding?
He’s not Sonny’s son
Ciny
We’ll see.
We don’t know who’s son he is…. yet.
Though the most logical explanation for his existence and the characters he’s been made to interact with would be if he were Sonny’s son who was programmed to work against him by one of Sonny’s old mob enemies.
And since Sonny has enough children already, he doesn’t really need a new one, so why not instead return one that he thought was lost (Morgan) but whose body was never found?
Obviously the whole Dex/Joss thing makes that problematic, and frankly a little gross, of course. But if you look at it from the context of an old mob enemy planting this programmed plant within the Corinthos organization to achieve maximum damage, then what could create more chaos than unintentional incest?
Not coincidentally you have this other storyline where a “mysterious” weapons smuggler is trying to move into Sonny’s territory, and “Dex” has some past ties to this organization.
Who was the last guy to try to move weapons through Sonny’s territory? Lorenzo Alcazar. Who hates Sonny & was disrupting his life right around the time Morgan was born, resulting in Carly getting shot in the head while giving birth? Lorenzo Alcazar. And who was supposed to be killed off years ago, but in all probability had his life spared by Jason, for the sake of Jason’s “sister”, Skye Quartermaine? Lorenzo Alcazar.
What probably happened there was that Jason allowed Alcazar to leave Port Charles alive, in return for his promise to never return. Now, with Jason himself presumed “dead”, Alcazar may not feel bound to that promise anymore. But he obviously can’t just roll into Port Charles and pick up where he left off, particularly with the weapons stuff. So instead, he hides behind a front company, and plants the “ultimate weapon & agent of chaos” within the Corinthos organization, and indeed within Sonny’s own family. And much to Alcazar’s surprise, he finds out that Nina has already done half the work for him before he can even put MorganDex in place.
Can anybody come up with an explanation that makes more sense than this?? Yes, the Devil really should be writing this show, I know!
Spencer’s a smart kid, despite his faults. You grow up in the Cassadine universe, you have to learn how to “read” people as a matter of self preservation. His instincts about Dex are essentially correct, since Dex could bring harm to both his uncle Sonny, and to his life long friend Joss. Spencer doesn’t know exactly what Dex is up to, but he knows he’s up to something.
SUO0.Don’t hold back, tell us how you really feel. The new Trina is okay but I do agree with you that the first Trina sparked an extra sweet chemistry with Spencer. I miss her too.
Could not agree less
Oh, Susie Q!!!—-I could hug you!! Finally, someone who agrees with me. NuTrina truly makes me want to pull my hair out!!! I want to scream!!!!!!!
Such a flat personality and an even flatter voice, not indicative of good TV.
I think you are being too generous. I find nuTrina neither talented nor pretty—she and her mother, the holier-than-thou (same as Carly) “Mrs Robinson” do nothing for my sense of compassion—-surprising, considering I cry over everything and anything. Didn’t she make the argument with nuTrina that Spencer and his ilk had no sense of morality or a path to righteousness? From the mouth of a deceitful Little Miss Goody-two Shoes. Hypocrisy abounds.
Then, along comes sexy, in-your- Spencer~~~she is so not in his league—-What’s wrong with this picture? Distorted. He and Sydney were magnetic together!! I guess Tabyana(sp) was the best the PTB could do?
As far as Hippies in soaps? I’ll ask my grandmother, since she and my grandfather were week-end hippies in College. LOL.
I’d love to be excited about this but my interest dwindled down to nothing along with the ever shrinking Spencer, Quartermaine/Ward, Webber/ Hardy & Cassadine families. Being able to count the members of each on one hand is so disheartening vs when they were the foundation of the show & there was a strong sense of family. Now the majority of the canvas is unrecognizable faces & characters names and GH is mostly about characters I’m not invested in & don’t care about. Glad many still enjoy it & hope the anniversary is great! It’s just changed way too drastically from the show, characters & families I fell in love with in the 90s and couldn’t miss.
Justin N…You have summed up much of what I feel. When I dion’t worry if I miss an episode something is wrong.
What to look for in the photo:
1. Any conspicuous absent cast members (means they’d be gone prior to the anniversary).
2. Any unrecognizable faces – characters that may be introduced in the next 6 weeks.
3. Which child performers are included (Violet, Leo and Wiley are certain). Any others?
4. Hopefully Jane Elliott. Prayers answered if Leslie Charleson is there.
Sadly, no Leslie Charleson. (No Leo, Charlotte, Aidan or Jake, among the kids). Wiley and Violet are pictured. Also, no Martin, Cyrus, Phyllis, Gladys or Heather.
Wouldn’t be surprised if Jake is recast (slight SORAS) by summer. Makes me wonder if Alley Mills (Heather) departs before the anniversary. Perhaps Gladys’ gambling problem sends her out of town (a shame as Bonnie Burroughs is a hoot).
60 years!!!!!!!!!! I must be dead. I watched the first episode, April 1, 1963, and was a regular viewer until 2005. Congratulations General Hospital for hanging on in the current anti-serial corporate environment.
SOOOOO looking forward to this!
I’m not enjoying soaps now nearly as much as I have in previous years. For better, worse and growing pains, life was better 60:years ago. The soap stories and characters were more entertaining. Right now it must be hard for writers to come up with the same kind of entertaining stories in the social and political climate we are all experiencing both at home and abroad. Or yet again waking up to another school shooting…today this time in Michigan. And then there are the guns. But I will stop here.
As wonderful as this cast photo is, they need to move these storylines along.
Michael/Willow are so boring, it’s ridiculous. They always have been. When Willow was first introduced, she actually had a personality. Chase had an edge to him back then, so he made her interesting. That’s why the pairing worked. He was the more interesting character. I enjoyed them together, but I knew they wouldn’t last, since it was pretty obvious Michael/Willow were the longterm plan. They could have ended Chase/Willow and Michael/Sasha better though, instead of that stupid fake affair storyline. It was so obvious where that was going, and they dragged it out way too long. They reunited Chase/Willow, just so she could pity marry him, before cheating on him with Michael. That’s when I stopped wanting Chase with Willow.
I actually like Michael and Willow as separate characters, but they’re beyond boring together. None of Michael’s pairings have really worked so far. No sparks. Is that why they keep killing off his girlfriends? lol. Willow is lovely on her own, but unbearable with Michael. And, when comparing Chase/Willow to Chase/Brooklyn, I now notice the huge difference in chemistry between the two. And, Willow actually had a personality with Chase. But, Chase has more chemistry with Brooklyn.
Once Michael and Willow realized they were in love with each other, that should have been the end of it. Willow should have just told Chase that while she was relieved he didn’t actually cheat on her, things had changed too much between them and she was in love with Michael now. Chase would have backed off and moved on. Instead, we got a whole year of that square of doom (Michael/Willow/Chase/Sasha). It was excruciating. Especially, since Chase had way more chemistry with Brooklyn. He was clearly attracted to her, so it made zero sense why he was still so hung up on Willow.
Sasha’s always been boring, so her pairing with Michael didn’t really do her any favors. Her relationship with Brando was actually interesting, but they killed him off instead. And, they didn’t even let her baby survive unlike Maxie’s son with Nathan. Now, she’s back to being boring. Just put her with Cody already, and move on.
Dante/Sam are just as boring as Michael/Willow. I LOVE Dante (and, I used to love Sam), so it’s painful watching him get stuck in this boring storyline.
I love Cameron Mathison, but Carly/Drew are boring too. Is Carly just going through the Quartermaine brothers at this point? A.J., Jason, Drew. It’s bad enough they forced Jason/Carly after 20 something years, when that romance was dead and buried for so long. But, I don’t even get this pairing. Is it because Drew is Jason’s brother? lol
Sonny/Nina have been pleasantly surprising. More Olivia/Ned please. Give Maxie a storyline, because she’s become boring. Michael Easton and Roger Howarth are being wasted, too. I want to see more Finn/Chase brotherly moments. Just go there already with Austin/Ava, because Roger Howarth and Maura West still have great chemistry. Resolve Nikolas’ storyline. I don’t care what you do with Joss/Dex, because Joss is insufferable. She’s mini Carly, but at least have Sonny find out that Dex is actively working against him. Michael trying to be a tough guy with his anger at Sonny and using Dee to take down Sonny is laughable. lol. Mikey boy is not a tough guy.
They built up Chase/Brooklyn for two years, finally put them together and then trapped them in this stupid Kesha/Dr. Luke and Taylor Swift/Scooter Braun type storyline. They’re barely on, which means this storyline is going to drag on forever. These two have some serious chemistry, if they would just write for them. Even in this dumb storyline, they’re more interesting to watch than Michael/Willow. Chase and Brooklyn are my two favorite characters on this show. They were hot, fun and interesting until the writers came up with this stupid music storyline. Get Brooklyn and Blaze away from Linc, take him down, give Chase his badge back, and reunite him with Brooklyn. The writers on this show are clueless about how to write a soap.
I’m looking forward to the Nurses Ball, but they need to start wrapping up some of these storylines and starting new ones. As it currently stands, GH is a bore.
Beautifully written comment, Kat. I agree with your every point.
Kat, I sing your praises. You said it all and better than I could, especially about Chase, my favorite character on the screen; he’s so refreshingly kind and decent. Not to mention he gets more beautiful by the minute. I do like Sasha because she’s kind of heroic, surviving all they’ve heaped on her; her plots seem like a great old movie with Bette Davis or Irene Dunne…so much suffering! Carly seems beyond redemption, never takes ANY responsibility for ANYTHING. Can’t bear Sam and Dante together, they seem like Chip n’ Dale looking for acorns. Maura West and Nicholas Chavez are GREAT but are saddled with boring scene partners, on the whole. And poor Willow (turned from dynamo to shrew with just one dose of Michael) has spent more time at GH than I have as a 50-year viewer.
Well said, Soaphound. I agree with you that NC and MW are dynamite in their scenes. So much talent in one, small space. And Willow and Michael are indeed boring. Even when they were having extramarital sex on top of a pile of Wiley’s birthday gifts, they put me asleep. I once loved Willow when she was playing that spirited, lovely school teacher in love with the cute and earnest police officer. Now, Willow’s face seems forever pinched up into a resting bitch face- she’s consumed with hatred. And for some inexplicable reason, when I think of Willow and Michael, I envision them dressed up as pilgrims. They’re puritanical hypocrites.
I actually LIKE this Trina! It took her a while to find her soap legs, but I think that she and Spencer are good together. Trina #1 was just “ok” to me. She wasn’t all that great of an actress. She always sounded really stiff. This one at least seems natural. I didn’t like Spencer at first, because I wanted the original Spencer back, but when I saw where they were going with the story, they needed an actor that would appear to be a bit older, and could handle a more adult storyline better. Sad to not see Monica in the photo, but glad that Tracy made it in! Surprised no Aidan, Jake, or Charlotte. (I understand that it might have been a bit hard for Leo, so they have to do what’s best for him) Was happy to see Violet there though!
Who is the smaller “enforcer” dude for Victor Cassadine? He’s a familiar actor but I can’t place his name or past movies?

‘General Hospital’s’ Steve Burton Shares Reaction to His Lead Actor Daytime Emmy Nomination, ‘It Was to Honor Leslie Charleson’

The 53rd Annual Daytime Emmy Award nominations kicked-off on Monday with the announcements of four major categories including, Outstanding Lead Performer in a Daytime Drama Series — Actor, and among the nominees is General Hospital’s Steve Burton (Jason Morgan).
Burton is already a two-time Daytime Emmy winner in the Supporting Actor category for his roles as GH’s Jason and his turn as Dylan McAvoy on Y&R. However, Steve is yet to win in the Lead Actor category and he has received 11 nominations along the way in his daytime career.
Following the reveal that he is a 2026 Daytime Emmy nominee, he and his GH co-star, podcast co-host and comedy show partner, Bradford Anderson (Spinelli) taped a special edition of their That’s Awesome podcast just featuring Burton’s reaction to the news.

FOR LESLIE CHARLESON
Steve expressed, “I know it’s such a cliche to say, ‘I’m just so honored to be nominated.’ But truly, I’m so grateful to be nominated, so grateful to just be on the show off and on for 30 plus years and to be nominated with the guys in my category. Just to get the opportunity. Frank (Valentini, executive producer, GH) texted me right away. I was just like, ‘Thank you for the opportunity to get to do what I do.'”
Taking in the moment, Burton thanked those who helped him select the material for his nominated reel. “Unless you win, you don’t get to say things. So. I’m going just say a few things: Elizabeth Korte (co-head writer, GH) helped me a lot with the material, (as did) Michelle Henry, who’s a producer on the show, Laura Wright (Carly, GH), and then my wife Michelle (Lundstrom). I believe it was Jill Phelps who told me that when A Martinez felt like he had a great show or great scenes, he would mark it down. So, when Emmy time comes, you have all the show numbers written down, and you don’t have to think about it, because that’s half the battle (finding the material).
Burton explained how meaningful this nomination is for him, because of playing the scenes of Jason losing Monica, and his closeness with the late, great Leslie Charleson.
“The nomination’s an amazing thing, and it’s beautiful, but really it’s to honor Leslie Charleson. A lot of my material was because of her, and how I started on the show as a Quartermaine, it just means a ton,” shared Burton. “Maurice Benard (Sonny, GH) has obviously has been instrumental, and I’ve said it from day one and I’ll shout it from the rooftops. If it wasn’t for him, I wouldn’t be here, and to be working with the people that we work with is incredible.”

SHOULD JOHN OLIVER BE NAMED HOST OF THE DAYTIME EMMYS?
During the end of his conversation with Anderson, Steve suggested that the host of the Daytime Emmy should be Last Week Tonight’s John Oliver, who recently guest starred as the head of the WSB named Z on General Hospital, and is soon to show up on Days of Our Lives in a mystery role in August.
Thus far, the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences has not revealed their host for the upcoming ceremony to be held on October 30 in a venue to be named in Hollywood, California.
You can watch Steve sharing his reaction to receiving his 2026 Lead Actor Daytime Emmy nomination below on a special segment on the That’s Awesome podcast.
Now let us know, are you glad that Steve chose scenes surrounding Jason mourning the loss of the woman that raised him, Monica Quartermaine for his Emmy reel? What do you think of John Oliver as a suggestion to host the Daytime Emmys? Weigh-in via the comment section below.

GENERAL HOSPITAL: Jason Reconnects with Danny; Tristan Roberts Arrives in Port Charles, Lots of Nods to #16

General Hospital’s 16,000th episode was packed with little reminders through points in today’s script that the ABC daytime drama series has set another milestone and it paved the way for the return of fan favorite and newly nominated Daytime Emmy Lead Actor nominee Steve Burton (Jason Morgan). The 16,000th episode also introduced viewers to the new surgeon in Port Charles Dr. Tristan Roberts played by Dean Geyer.
Here are the key takeaways and what went down on the July 13 episode: Tristan and Jason are seated next to each other on a plane heading to Port Charles. Throughout the flight, a beaten up Jason has flashbacks to being thrown into, and being held captive in a cell and tortured. It appears Jason is suffering from some form of PTSD from what he was put through after being dragged out of Port Charles by the WSB months ago.
As the plane prepares to land, Tristan tells Jason there would be a car waiting for him once they land and to enjoy the rest of his life. Later, Tristan arrives at the nurses and doctors hub at GH and approaches Elizabeth (Rebecca Herbst). He tells her his name and that he is the new surgeon on staff.

A REUNION PLUS A HEAD NURSE DEFENDS SONNY
Meanwhile, at the end of the episode, Jason is outside the Quartermaine boathouse looking bewildered when he runs into Danny (Asher Antonyzyn), who is so thrilled to see his father, and the two hugs each other as tears are shed.
Elsewhere, Elizabeth tells Sonny (Maurice Benard) that he thinks its a great idea for him to get the 16th seat on the hospital board, but when it comes times to convince Tracy Quartermaine (Jane Elliot) of that, things go awry when Tracy, Laura and Sonny try to work things out. After Tracy launches into Sonny about killing Alan and Monica’s son AJ, Sonny walks away dejected.
Next, Sonny runs into Elizabeth, where he informs her what happened with Tracy. So what’s a head nurse to do? Elizabeth marches into the conference room and reminds Tracy of all the different donations and ways Sonny has contributed to the hospital from the Stone Cates AIDS wing, to the Michael Corinthos Center for Pediatric Head Injuries as well as his constant support each year for the GH Nurses’ Ball.

WSB WAR SCARS
Then, in one of the best parts for longtime fans of the series, Elizabeth talks about her legendary grandparents, Audrey and Steve Hardy and she tells Tracy they would have wanted Sonny to have a seat on the board for all the good that he has done for the hospital. After Elizabeth states Sonny’s case, things took a turn and Tracy and Sonny wound up shaking hands as Sonny is board member #16.
In the how great was it to see Anna (Finola Hughes) and Valentin (James Patrick Stuart) together scenes department, the pick-up of last Friday’s cliffhanger is played out as the two former lovers fill each other in on what has gone down in their lives in the last several months including Valentin admitting he had been living in Carly’s attic, and Anna realizing she was kidnapped by Cullum, Sidwell and Cassius Faison. During their conversation, Anna sees the hallucination of Peter August (Wes Ramsey) right while Valentin is standing there.

Courtesy/ABC
Later Anna was on her way to saying goodbye to Valentin, when the two share an emotional hug. After Valentin made his exit, Peter reappeared and warned Anna to not let Valentin distract her because she has important work to do. Anna answers, “I know.”
So, what did you think of General Hospital’s 16,000 episode? What do you think is wrong with Jason? What is the important “work” that Anna has to do? Were you glad to see Sonny get a seat on the hospital board, or not so much. Weigh-in via the comment section. But first, check out the scenes on Jason and Tristan’s long flight to Port Charles.
