GENERAL HOSPITAL: Aiden Comes Out to Lucky; Then Elizabeth Delivers Devastating News
In an emotional Monday, October 7th episode of General Hospital, Aiden (Colin Cassidy) and Lucky (Jonathan Jackson) finally talk and have their long-awaited father and son chat. Elizabeth (Rebecca Herbst) brings them to the GH break room so they can talk privately. At first, Lucky apologizes for not getting in touch with his son, and assures him it wasn’t because he didn’t care about him.
Aiden responds that at first he thought maybe Lucky didn’t want to get in touch with him. Then, Aiden reveals to Lucky he had so much to tell him, but he didn’t want to say it in a video call or via an email. Next, Aiden comes out to Lucky and says “Dad, I’m gay.” Lucky is, at first, not sure how to respond, and takes a beat to compose himself after Aiden’s declaration, but then as only Jonathan Jackson can, the tears well up and he says, “I’m your father, and I love you without exception.”
Lucky adds that he’s sorry if Aiden’s ever questioned that, but he is his son, and nothing will ever change that. Both Aiden and Lucky have tears in their eyes and share a warm embrace. Later, Aiden tells his father about his baking business. Lucky says his baking business reminded of his dad, Luke, and Luke would think what Aiden is doing is pretty cool. Aiden brings up Luke, Laura and Lucky and Lucky reflect on their time running the Triple L diner in British Columbia, Canada.

At the nurses’ station, Elizabeth is worried how the conversation is going between Aiden and Lucky, when Terry (Cassandra James) comes by and admits she knows that Aiden is gay as well, because he told her. Just then, Elizabeth’s phone rings and Lucky’s test results are in. Elizabeth heads to the break room as Aiden gets reminder on his phone that he is late to meet up with a friend to play Carjack. As he exits, Lucky promises Aiden he won’t leave Port Charles without seeing him first. Once alone with Lucky, Elizabeth tells him he’s not a viable donor liver match for Lulu and he is left rocked to the core.

Colin Cassidy spoke to Soap Opera Digest on Aiden’s coming out scene to Lucky, and shared, “Aiden literally says, ‘I feel like I can breathe now’” And when I was asking around and hearing other people’s stories (of coming out to a loved one]) that was the consensus: that it’s an incredible relief. Even if it doesn’t go as good as it possibly can, a lot of people feel like it’s just an amazing release to get it off their chest. And when it goes well, it’s got to be one of the best feelings in the world. You feel like you can be yourself, you feel like you are accepted for who you are, fully, you’re loved, and that’s all that matters. And I think with Aiden and Lucky, it does go as well as it possibly could. It’s kind of a new start to an amazing, beautiful relationship.”
So, what did you think of the Aiden and Lucky reunion and the moment Aiden told Lucky he was gay? Now that we know that Lucky is not a viable match to be Lulu’s donor, who do you think its going to end up to be? Comment below, but first check out the pivotal moments from today’s GH between father and son.
Aiden!
new Aiden is not bad
I loved the scenes with Aiden and Lucky and definitely teared up right along with them.
I have always loved Jonathan Jackson as Lucky. He is just an amazing actor. I loved the scenes between Lucky (JJ) and Aiden (CC). I knew Lucky would accept and love Aiden. I know fans are commenting that Colin looks too old to play Aiden, and maybe he does, but this kid can hold his own against JJ and BH. He is a great actor, and I can pretend he is 15 if he continues killing his scenes. Colin was also great in his scenes with Elizabeth (Becky Herbst) last Monday. Their instant chemistry reminds me of William Lipton and BH.
I am hoping these scenes are just the beginning of a new focus for GH, on legacy characters growing and changing, reconnecting and rebuilding after years impossible situations. I want to see some extended stories of human drama and joy, not silly spy adventures or mob intrigue. Lucky’s homecoming is what the doctor ordered for Port Charles. Eager to see more Laura, Lu, their extended families. I wish Bobbie were still alive.
WHY do the writers on the show GH feel like everyone they bring back to the show has to be gay???? I have watched this show since its inception, and I just think that having all the gays on there just destroys the storyline!!
Are you a Phelps cult member or what?
All the gays? Lucas, Aiden, and I guess you can count Brad, though he’s barely on. Hardly a gay invarison of Port Charles.
“All the gays”? Get real. Is Lucky gay? Holly? Let’s see other returns this year – Jason? Martin?
For those who don’t like a diversified community, I’d suggest watching 1950’s sitcom reruns. Maybe an episode of Love of Life from 1963?
Gays exist in real life, why shouldn’t they exist in Port Charles?
He was already gay and this comment makes you sound like a moron.
We had racism here yesterday about Robert Gossett only winning his Emmys because he’s black and there’s a quota, now today some good old fashioned homophobia. Some lovely people commenting on the site lately.
I shouldn’t even dignify this, but I will. GH has something like 65 characters on the show currently between contract and recurring actors, and exactly 4 of those characters are gay. That is hardly “Everyone they bring back to the show is gay. The gays are taking over and destroying my show!” Like seriously, give me a break.
Maybe you need to remember that Lucas and Brad are established characters on the show (whether the actors were recurring or on contract); this show has been adapting with all the writer changes.
Lynn…
I agree with Michael…your comment DOES make you sound like a moron.
As an openly gay man, I am not easily offended. Yet your comment pisses me off!!!!!
This is 2024!!!!! Remember that.
Most of all, if you currently don’t like GH, watch something else!!!!!
The 1970’s Tales from the City, Boy In the Band, or the more recent Queer as Folk would be good thing to watch. Or even try The Birdcage.
The way I see it, no one would blame Aidan if the focus of their reunion was “Why did you abandon me?”. Aidan’s sexuality is secondary and it’s too little too late to care what Lucky thinks. That scene would have been more meaningful to me if it involved a devoted father like Mac. I feel like Elizabeth and Aidan let Lucky off the hook. I think they would have been justified if they’d voiced a few verbal jabs about him leaving. Aidan, bless him, wants his Daddy’s acceptance as all kids do.

Vincent Pastore of ‘Sopranos’ Fame and ‘General Hospital’s’ Maximus Giambetti Dies at 80

Vincent Pastore, best known for his memorable role as Salvatore “Big Pussy” Bonpensiero on HBO’s The Sopranos has passed away.
The veteran actor was found dead on August 1st in his home in the Bronx, New York. Pastore was 80-years-old. The cause of death is yet to be determined.
As well as his role on The Sopranos, many soap fans will recall he played multiple smaller roles on the beloved One Life to Live from 1995 and 2004. However, in 2008, he landed the short-term role as Maximus Giambetti on General Hospital.

PASTORE WANTED TO BE ON GENERAL HOSPITAL
Maximus was the mobster father of Sonny Corinthos’ (Maurice Benard) bodyguards: Max (Derk Cheetwood) and Milo (Drew Cheetwood)
According to Soap Opera Digest, Pastore told Soaps In Depth back in 2009, after appearing in a SOAPnet promotional campaign as a celebrity fan of General Hospital: “‘I’d love to be on the show. So they called up GH’s casting director (Mark Teschner) and Bobby (Robert Guza Jr. ex-head writer, GH) and they wrote me in!”
Pastore was a huge General Hospital fan from way back, who at one point told producers that he would watch the ABC soap opera while working in bars and nightclubs in the 70s and 80s.
Throughout his decades long career, Pastore appeared in films including: Goodfellas, Carlito’s Way and Men of Respect, The Jerky Boys: The Movie and the 1996 HBO TV movie Gotti.
In TV, besides The Sopranos, Pastore’s credits included: Law & Order, The Practice, Son of the Beach, Queens Supreme, Hawaii Five-0, Wu-Tang: An American Saga, plus the miniseries The Last Don II. Most recently, Vincent was a series regular on Gravesend and guest starred on Yellowjackets.
Pastore is survived by his daughter, Renee, son-in-law and granddaughter.
