GENERAL HOSPITAL: Alexis Gives Her Closing Argument in Willow’s Case While Comprising Her Morals

At the conclusion of the Tuesday, January 13 episode of General Hospital, Willow’s (Katelyn MacMullen) fate is now in the hands of the jury, because armed with the truth, her lawyer, Alexis Davis (Nancy Lee Grahn), did not come forward before, or during her, closing argument that Willow did indeed commit the crime of shooting Drew Cain (Cameron Mathison).

So why did Alexis ultimately decide to keep her mouth shut, even after Trina (Tabyana Ali) and Kai (Jens Austin Astrup) went to her with how they can place Willow at the scene of the crime? She talked with her law partner at their Miller & Davis law offices, Diane Miller. This marked the return of fan favorite, Carolyn Hennesy who has been recovering in real-life from a broken leg and two surgeries to repair it. Hennesy appeared on-screen in a wheelchair.

In the key scenes, Alexis unloaded the entire quagmire she finds herself in explaining that she can longer defend Willow because she just found out, she’s guilty. After Alexis debriefs Diane on the details, it was Diane who offered her friend and law partner sound advice to save her own career. Diane warns if Alexis comes forward the judge would declare a mistrial. Then, Alexis would be permanently disbarred if she brought any of it up during her closing remarks  As we know, Alexis has already been disbarred before, so one wrong move and she would be done.

Next, the matter of Scout was brought up. Diane tells Alexis that if she comes forward, she is certain Drew would cut Alexis out of her granddaughter’s life permanently. Alexis said Scout was her priority. Diane replied that Alexis knew what she had to do.

Later, at the courthouse, Willow and Drew are waiting for Alexis to arrive, and she is late. Trina and Kai are also there, and notice Alexis hasn’t shown up either. They begin to wonder if the intel they gave her will be enough to change her mind and turn on her client. Alexis makes it to the trial just before Judge Sullivan enters the courtroom.

ADA Turner (Nazneen Contractor) goes first and lays out why Willow had motive, means, and opportunity to shoot Drew. Now, it’s Alexis’ turn and she continues to claim Willow’s innocence while making Michael (Rory Gibson) a more reasonable suspect. During her summation, Alexis slipped up and uttered, “Willow had every opportunity…” before catching and rephrasing, that “Michael had every opportunity and reason to shoot Drew.” This moment did not go unnoticed by Turner.

After the closing arguments wrapped-up, Judge Sullivan dismissed the jury to deliberate. Then, Willow came up to Alexis and thanked her and said, “And if I go free, it will all be because of you.” That moment resonated strongly with Alexis as she realizes that her guilty conscience was at odds with her defending Willow for a crime, she knows she did commit.

The episode featured an excellent performance by 2025 Lead Actress Daytime Emmy winner, Nancy Lee Grahn, as Alexis’ face through the trial and its aftermath were pretty pitch-perfect, registering to us, the audience, how her morals had been compromised and the inner-battle she faced along the way.

So, were you mad that Alexis did not come forward and throw her client, Willow Cain, under the bus at the trial? Do you think something will happen when the jury reads the verdict, or will Willow walk away scot-free? Weigh-in via the comment section below.

Alexis is pitiful. Kai and Trina dumb and dumber. Justine would’ve given them immunity. Its probably too late now.

Another powerful performance from NLG. Been a long time since we’ve seen Alexis in prime legal eagle form. Don’t necessarily agree with the approach she’s taken.

While I currently don’t think they’ll charge Michael if/when Willow gets wrongfully acquitted, will Diane have to recuse herself as his defense so he ends up with Ric as his attorney?

Ava and Valentin – the confrontation I didn’t know I needed, but absolutely can’t wait to see what develops.

Watching lawyers like Alexis and Diane it made me curious. Is Rick Hearst even on the show anymore? I might have missed something, but I haven’t see Ric in weeks.

Rick Hearst is recurring and commutes from NJ. He’s definitely still part of the active canvas.

Thanks for the info Steve 🙂

I’m so over it!!! I don’t even need to buy soap opera digest anymore, I can get everything online… Gh needs to quit it with a stupidity. Alexis has went overboard doing illegal things and allowing illegal things and Trina and Kai are ridiculously ridiculous.

This week on all-new episodes of General Hospital, new and old motivations come into play with dangerous consequences. According to the just released GH video spoilers video for the week of August 3-7, a bailiff calls out, “All rise!”

Now it’s Isaiah (Sawandi Wilson) vs. Curtis (Donnell Turner), as the surgeon is suing the owner of the Savoy for assault that ruined is ability to operate. At the end of the day, which of these men has enough evidence against the other? Portia (Brook Kerr) is by Isaiah’s side, while Jordan (Tanisha Harper) is with Curtis.

Next, Lucy (Lynn Herring) has a plan to get the controlling shares of Deception away from Michael (Rory Gibson). She wants her daughter, Serena (Kelly Kruger) to seduce Michael. Later, there is a small baggie containing three blue pills. Nina (Cynthia Watros) ask Willow (Katelyn MacMullen), “What did you do?” We also see Michael asking the same thing of Jacinda (Paige Herschell). Leading into this week, viewers know that Willow doesn’t want the former escort anywhere near her children, Amelia and Wiley. Is this how she stops her, or is Jacinda up to old tricks and wants to frame Willow? Remember when Jacindsa drugged Drew (Cameron Mathison)? Stay tuned.

Finally, in the pick-up from last Friday’s cliffhanger, an emotional Jason (Steve Burton) continues to tell Sonny (Maurice Benard) that he cannot work for him anymore. Sonny ask, “So that’s it? You’re Out?” We fade to black.

Vincent Pastore, best known for his memorable role as Salvatore “Big Pussy” Bonpensiero on HBO’s The Sopranos has passed away.

The veteran actor was found dead on August 1st in his home in the Bronx, New York. Pastore was 80-years-old. The cause of death is yet to be determined.

As well as his role on The Sopranos, many soap fans will recall he played multiple smaller roles on the beloved One Life to Live from 1995 and 2004. However, in 2008, he landed the short-term role as Maximus Giambetti on General Hospital.

PASTORE WANTED TO BE ON GENERAL HOSPITAL

Maximus was the mobster father of Sonny Corinthos’ (Maurice Benard) bodyguards: Max (Derk Cheetwood) and Milo (Drew Cheetwood)

According to Soap Opera Digest, Pastore told Soaps In Depth back in 2009, after appearing in a SOAPnet promotional campaign as a celebrity fan of General Hospital: “‘I’d love to be on the show. So they called up GH’s casting director (Mark Teschner) and Bobby (Robert Guza Jr. ex-head writer, GH) and they wrote me in!”

Pastore was a huge General Hospital fan from way back, who at one point told producers that he would watch the ABC soap opera while working in bars and nightclubs in the 70s and 80s.

Throughout his decades long career, Pastore appeared in films including: Goodfellas, Carlito’s Way and Men of Respect, The Jerky Boys: The Movie and the 1996 HBO TV movie Gotti.

In TV, besides The Sopranos, Pastore’s credits included: Law & Order, The Practice, Son of the Beach, Queens Supreme, Hawaii Five-0, Wu-Tang: An American Saga, plus the miniseries The Last Don II. Most recently, Vincent was a series regular on Gravesend and guest starred on Yellowjackets.

Pastore is survived by his daughter, Renee, son-in-law and granddaughter.
