GENERAL HOSPITAL: On the Heels of Sam’s Death, Alexis Tells Dante She Wants Danny and Scout to Live With Her; Sasha Thanks Her Parents for the Save
On the Friday, November 8th episode of General Hospital, Dante Falconeri (Dominic Zamprogna) and Alexis Davis (Nancy Lee Grahn) continue to be the two hit the hardest by the death of Sam McCall (Kelly Monaco). After all, Dante just had asked Sam to marry him, and Alexis was with Sam shortly after the proposal when all of a sudden Sam went into cardiac arrest and died.
A grieving mom and a grieving fiancé were the order of the day, and as skillfully played by both Nancy Lee Grahn and Dominic Zamprogna, you can see that Alexis and Dante don’t quite know what to do with themselves. Alexis visits the Quartermaines and talks with Olivia (Lisa LoCicero) about having Sam’s children, Scout and Danny, moving in to live with her. She reveals to Olivia that Sam was worried about Jason’s influence on Danny, and she doesn’t think Sam would want Jason raising Danny alone. She feels that the sooner they are stabilized at her home, the better it will be for them.
Dante is in deep sorrow and tries to hold it together while Brook Lynn (Amanda Setton) tries to comfort him. He tells her that he doesn’t know how to take care of his family without Sam. Brook Lynn says that he and the kids can stay at the Q’s as long as they want, but Dante feels it’s not a family without Sam.

Later, Dante finds Alexis chatting with his mom, Olivia, but she excuses herself leaving Dante and Alexis to talk and to grieve. Alexis brings up the funeral and what he would like to have as part of it, but Dante says he’ll go along with whatever Alexis decides. He sees the engagement ring he proposed to Sam with on the coffee table. Alexis says she brought it over to him, because she didn’t know if he wanted to keep it or have Sam wear it when she has her memorial.
Dante breaks down in tears and flashes back to when he told Olivia he was going to propose to Sam saying that it all feels so long ago. Dante says he really thought they would grow old together. Meanwhile, Alexis cries, “That’s the way it was supposed to be.” Dante can’t imagine his life with Sam, and the two give each other a meaningful hug.

Sasha is rescued by Jason (Steve Burton) and Brennan (Charles Mesure); following a bomb blast after she was kidnapped by Sidwell (Carlo Rota). As it turns out, Holly (Emma Samms) arranged for all the diamonds she stole in Africa from Sidwell, to be returned to him to save her daughter’s life. Once back in Port Charles at WSB headquarters, Sasha asks Holly if she gave up the diamonds or if they were fake. Holly says they were real; she wasn’t going to con Jenz with her life on the line. Robert (Tristan Rogers) hugs his daughter, while Sasha is trying to cope with finding out about her ‘biological’ parents.
What did you think of the heartbreaking performances by Dante Zamprogna and Nancy Lee Grahn all this week? Are you intrigued that they gave Sasha two new parents in Holly and Robert? Comment below.
I think it’s terrible that they broke up a great couple! Sasha n Cody are so good together why would you stop that? Although maybe Holly lied, could definitely see that, all she does is hurt Robert every time. I don’t like to see Robert hurt, but I hope that’s the scenario.
Maybe there’s more regarding Mac’s trip where he was “helping an old friend”. And Mac was hell bent on warning Robert to steer clear of Holly. I mean, moreso than usual. Does Mac know something? One person on this forum recently suggested maybe Mac and Robert aren’t really brothers. Maybe there’s something to that. If it meant Sasha and Cody could be together, I wouldn’t be upset.
Unless the writers are hell bent on destroying the foundations of the show, it’s highly unlikely that they’d create a front burner storyline tearing apart legacy family brothers who’ve been on the seen 30+ years.
Getting more of a feeling that this is Robert’s farewell storyline with Tristan retiring when Emma makes her departure in the weeks ahead.
Great. Break up one of the best couples then exit out stage left? Why do it in the first place if Robert is going to become a “Robin fixture” in the GH scripts?
And why is an adoption breaking up a legacy family? The brothers grew up together – and reconnected and have been brothers for over 60 years – nothing will change that. Family is more than blood.
Agreed on adoption not usually mattering in a sibling relationship. But, changing Robert & Mac’s origin story would be a major change to show history. We are supposed to believe then that:
1. The younger brother finds out he has a long lost son – living in PC.
2. A few months later, the older brother turns out to have a long lost daughter- also living in PC.
3. Those two offspring were in a months-long relationship where they hadn’t slept together.
4. Neither of these new offspring fit into the timeline of the series long term viewers remember.
5. Wait – the brothers (both beloved characters) weren’t biologically related after all.
I’m still going with Tristan retiring and the show writing him out living HEA with Holly
He and Diane were good together!! Just more heartbreak for her! Not liking the new writers! They and Valentini are making this..what would I call it…certainly not GH. They striped Sam down to someone we don’t know and Howard changes have they either chosen to write not caring about some of the history, or not knowing it. Frankie boy too! So disappointed.
But sadly, it seems these writers ARE hell bent on destroying the foundations of the show. I’m not disagreeing with you; I don’t like any of this no matter how we look at it. It’s such lazy writing. This is the 3rd time Robert’s had a surprise offspring thrust upon him. That’s the best they could come up with? Really? And don’t even get me started on the other stories right now. You know it’s bad when soap fans are screaming it’s too much sex. There’s been so much partner sharing it may as well be a Diddy freak off.
I agree. I’m done with GH after all these years.
Robert only has 2 daughters. There is no 3rd child. I hate tgey broke up Sasha and Cody but they do not need to change anything about Robert and Mac. They need to leave the brothers Scorpio alone
You are right. I forgot Ethan isn’t his. I can’t remember if Ethan was “sprung on Robert” before learning Luke was the father though. Poor Robert could never just knowingly be a dad from conception.
I am hoping that Robert and Mac have different fathers, then Cody and Sasha wouldn’t be related.
Even if mac and Robert has different father they have same mother Sasha and cody still cousin
I had the same thought about Robert and Mac not being real brothers. That would be awesome. Sasha and Cody were a great couple. Poor Sasha. It’s just like the writers to ruin a great story.
Please get new writers
I would prefer that Holly get surprised and a DNA swap was done on her when Sasha was born. She turns out to have been given the wrong baby and Holly and another daddy have a child out there somewhere else. Holly exits to go hunt for her lost child till TPTB decide for her to surface again, Robert stays put and realizes he cannot do anymore Holly drama. He proposes to Diane, who forgives him after busting his chops a bit, and we get a Miller-Scorpio courthouse wedding with brunch and cake at the Mayor’s mansion.
Love this scenario
I LOVE THAT FOR DIANE AND ROBERT!!
Yes they would. If the brothers have the same mother, their children are still related!
Would be great! I would love to see Cody and Sasha together. but I think the plans of the writers want to put Sasha and Michael together. oh well all we can do is hope the writers get some sense knocked into them LOL.Whose first in line lol!
Ohhh! That’s darn creative and really soapy!! I was thinking when Robert said he ddi it thru the WSB, that was hint that it may not be true! Gotta be someone in that organization that would like to torment Robert, I am sure! I loved him and Anna and Duke of course back in the day, but I never like Holly and thinks she is a waste. Wish they would have kept sam! But with an iptopsy, seems like they are making sure she can’t comeback someday, alive!
Anything’s possible I guess if there is a Cassadine with a lab. I remember when Anthony Geary left, he complained the writers reversed Jake’s story after his organs had supposedly been harvested for donation.
I agree
I agree they have gót together both couples in their relationship, Why!!!!!
BRING SAM BACK, PERIOD. HER & DANTE ARE PERFECT FOR EACH OTHER.
LULU, LET HER GOOO IN PEACE ORRRR BRING BACK THE LULU WHO WAS IN THE COMA, EMMA RYAN, I BELIEVE.. SHE & SAM NEVERRR SHOULD HAVE BEEN LET. GO, PERIOD. THESE WRITORS ARE DESTROYING GH, LIKE BIDEN DESTROYED FOR 4 LOSY YEARS!!!
Biden didn’t destroy anything in this country but destruction is coming under your zero hero drumpty
Obama and Joe did there best to destroy America. They are not anything I’ve ever seen.
But this is a soap GH, that we are talking about. I don’t think they are going to keep Coty and Sàsha apart for long. And the will not take Robert and Mac apart. I think Mac found more stuff on Holly .
Jackie, why you felt compelled to bring in your highly flawed political rhetoric into a soap board comment section, I will never understand. Your guy won. Be happy and stop being angry sore winners. Hope you get what you voted for because it won’t be good.
True facts
Kelly Monaco can’t act
Don’t turn this into a political conversation.
He didn’t destroy, wait till that Convicted
sex ofbender get done with us!!
I am beginning to hate GH. If the writers are hell bent on destroying GH, they doing a great job. I’m at a point of not watching GH
They always break up a good couple.
Robert had a paternity test done at the police station and he is her father
He had the test done at the WSB because it supposedly can’t be tampered with there.
The daytime Emmy for male and female supporting actors should DEFINATELY go to Nancy and Dominic! Lead actor to Steve Burton, for the emotions he displayed , when saying goodbye to Sam. Fabulous, INCREDIBLE acting!
So agreed! Sasha n Cody r great together n Dante n Alexis were outstanding actors this pass week!
While in some years Nancy would be considered supporting, the amount of work and focus this year puts her in the Lead category.
Ok let’s get it over already with Sam, I’m tired of crying! Now as for Robert he just can’t help himself around lying, manipulating, conning Holly and he knows all of this about her… SMH. I’m elated Willow was caught in the act can’t wait to see her try to worm her way out. I think Alexis will be great to care for her grandchildren because Dante will definitely end up with Lulu, it seem like they have forgotten about poor Lulu. I know they are still in shock but somebody should at least mention her condition! I’m just saying.
Enjoy the calm in the storm, we’re just weeks away from Lulu being a key focus for the foreseeable future.
That – I can agree with. Although Jonathan Jackson only works about two weeks then he goes back to Tenn. So the Lulu drama will last in full force about that long.
With the way they utilize block shooting, we’re not likely to notice gaps without Lucky during that storyline. Plus, Lulu has other characters to fill her screen time.
I don’t think Alexis is in her right mind right now. Taking care of the children should go to their fathers. When Alexis was talking to Olivia, telling her sam didn’t want Jason’s influence, olivia politely said “oh, i thought things were going well betwen them all”, and that drew wont be around for Scout, if he wins the election. She isn’t thinking clearly and trying to control everything around her, because she cannot control nor can she de with the loss of Sam. Once she is told those kids aren’t coming with her, I think it’ll be too much and she will have that drink. They shouldn’t have killed off Sam in the first place. But they had stripped her of almost all the qualities that Sam had, that we loved. The are destroying GH 1 chara ter at a time, and we can do nothing to stop it.
Glad that Robert is Sasha’s father but they picked the worst person to be her mother. Holly brings problems and drama.
Don’t forget Christina, also excellent acting!!!
Kristina left a lot to be desired. Molly (as played by Kristen Vaganos) nailed it with her facial expressions before even saying one word.
I agree, Steve. Kate Mansi just isn’t a good cryer, and to compensate for that deficit, she overacts and mugs it up. As you attest, Kristen Vaganos shows without telling ( no shrieking or screaming to prove that she’s grief stricken).
I like Kate Mansi but I was not a fan of the scene where Kristina threw a tantrum in the hospital chapel. Unless Kristina is about to be thrown into an institution wearing a straight jacket, I agree it was overacting.
First I just have to say that Nancy Grahn deserves an award for her performance during this tragedy! This is her best acting ever!!! Second, Cody and Sasha deserve to be together – how much more can this girl take?!!! Idc how they do it, Sasha and Cody all the way and third, I have to bring up Willow and Drew. I can’t stand either one of them! Drew’s a narcissistic pig and “angel” Willow is gone. They them go to DC!
GH broke up Sasha and Cody after 2 years of drip drip drip uber slow burning drama. The least they can do for us is to keep Holly as the “You are dead to me!” Mom. Placing Holly the con artist in the redeemer bin lightening fast is not cool.
I think Dante and Alexis did very well. It was heartbreaking what went on on GH.
Holly and Robert scenario is over the top. What a dirty trick for Sasha and Cody who never seem to catch a break with relationships.
It is a dirty trick the writers did. I read Sam found out about her exit when she was reading her lines. I can’t believe they would be so callous. If they don’t find a way to bring Sasha and Cody back together then it’s time for me to move on. Oh wait, Willow should have gotten the exit papers. She was a favorite at one time.
Nancy Lee graham deserves five emmys for her performance. You could feel grief, sadness, anger, she was phenomenal
That’s exactly what I told my husband. “Alexis” deserves an award for her acting. I couldn’t keep tears from going. Holly? Let that jerk remember “Oh, maybe Luke is the father of Sasha!! That would be awesome for Sasha & Cody. They are so cute together. But remember her hookup with Michael. Hmmm. What will come of that secret? He’s no better than Willow!!
Oh yes, that’s the first great idea. But the DNA test screws that theory.
Ohhh…let’s get soapy….willow will be pregnant by Drew and Sasha will be pregnant with Michael’s baby! But boy, Robert said he did the DNA thru WSB, so shouldn’t have to worry…I think somehow, her and Robert are not related..but she will be with child with Michael’s baby!! 😉
I 100% agree with Nancy Lee Graham’s performance! I lost an adult child and that’s somewhat my same reaction. Heart wrenching
I’m sorry for your loss. I also lost my adult son who was living with me about a year and a half ago and I’m still in a state of shock. He was my last living close relative. I’m lost without him and miss him so much even today it’s not much easier. I do feel they captured the feelings very well.
I’m glad Sasha has parents, but the two they gave her were not only ridiculous, but unconscionable. She and Cody were very slowly making their way to each other and had just finally gotten out their feelings when this hits them. I loved them as aI’m glad Sasha has parents, but the two they gave her were not only ridiculous, but unconscionable. She and Cody were very slowly making their way to each other and had just finally gotten out their feelings when this hits them. I loved them as a couple. Just like getting rid of Sam here was another huge mistake that GH made! They need to find a way to bring Sam back for Good, and two find a way to get Sasha out of this ridiculous parentage. I know you think that because we’re so against it that that’s just perfect but I’ve never been so disgusted with this show as I am right now! There’s only been once or twice that I’ve quit watching GH because of what was going on and this might be one of them. If it is, it’ll be forever this time!
Why did you take away the man she loves ❤️ I guess she hasn’t suffer enough. Cody needed someone that really cared about him. When he get her
You do this to them. We like Drama but this is just to much. Get them back together, The tests were wrong. Then the stupid shit with Willow and Drew like they are horny teenagers, no way she would risk her marriage for a piece of ass. What the hell Is wrong with you then firing good people starting with Roger…..
You got that right about Willow and Drew!!!
the important reason that alexis should take danny and scout is that they should not be separated. they need each other and they need to stay together. plus, danny wants to look after his little sister.
if each were to stay with their individual father, it would be heartbreaking. it would be so sad if they did not live together and see each other every day, like they did when their mom was alive.
i feel, that should have been mentioned as the most important reason to keep the kids together.
maybe that reason will come up, in a future episode. i hope so.
I hate they killed Sam , it’s not right after all this time.
Both Grahn and Zambrogna gave STELLAR PERFORMANCES !
On the ‘Sasha’ Storyline –
First Cousins CAN Marry !! IF they want children – Duh- have Surrogate/s *
It’s done more than you think.
Must be Beyond the Writer’s Scope, guess they’ll just Fire these Two also
They’ve ever known. Don’t break up their home
I hate it I want Sam to come back on I love Dante and Sam and know Sasha and Cody. Are broken up.you had willow sleeping with drew yuck.
I am sad that Sasha and Cody can no longer be a couple. It was a dumb move to make just when they realized they where in love. Killing Sam after she donated part of her liver was a bad thing to do if you want others to donate. Dante and Alexis have showed their emotions in a real heart felt matter and I almost cry when they are together talking. As for Willow and Michael they each are to blame for their crazy actions.
Willow and Drew sleeping together was RIDICULOUS…….but Michael ran off AND SLEPT WITH SASHA!! I am just waiting for Sasha to find out she is pregnant!!
Michael shouldn’t be blamed. Michael slept with an ex out of hurt, shock, a double betrayal of a wife and an uncle. Michael and Sasha found each other in the same place literally, and emotionally. Their sleeping together wasn’t longing and love, it was finding comfort and connection when they were feeling hurt and alone.
Willow and Drew have had an affair of the heart for a long while now. She’s taken every opportunity to be alone with him while protesting it, they’ve exchanged feelings for each other, she kissed him not once but twice, and then totally gave in to her feelings. AGAIN. With his uncle! LOL. So, no. Michael didn’t cheat. He was devastated, blindsided, betrayed, swimming in a whirlwind of emotions. He didn’t owe her or their marriage anything. There’s no comparison in what they did other than the physical act.
Let Sasha and Cody be together, but I’m not sure Robert is Sashas father
Maybe Sam will come back they are good for that She has been on the show so long and everyone loved her. A big mistake maybe Valentine took her and faked her death.Or some other twist. That was a bad mistake for the writers.
“Sam” had an autopsy; there’s no coming back from that lol.
Oh, remember Jake had a kidney, was it that Joc needed, and at the time everyone including jason, sam, and Elizabeth, thought for years that that was who gave it to her…soo it could easily be something that someone pulled, and using someone else…;)
What I don’t understand is why is Alexis looking to Dante for permission to raise Danny and Scout. Both of their biological fathers are alive. I would love to see Jason be fired by Sonny so he can find a place for him and Danny to live. And it would be nice for Alan’s sons to be full time father’s. I will be angry if they killed off Sam only to have Drew and Jason not raise their respected children. After all when Sam was in prison I didn’t see Alexis raising Danny and Scout, it was Jason. KEEP THE KIDS WITH THEIR DADS,PLEASE!!
GH is losing most of its best characters to death. I’d like to see more front burning romance of the good kind instead of everyone sneaking around. There is such a great cast but most of them are not being utilized enough. Alexis,as always, nailed it. Jason did make me cry. Carly and Sonny need to reunite and Molly , TJ, and Christina need to grow up. Diane is great with Robert but they don’t get enough of a story line. Jason needs a new love interest. Not Elizabeth. Love her character, but she’s not the one. Love Lucky being back but, he is not the type that’s gonna just sit around waiting for his sister to wake up. He needs a better story line.
Please get back on track. Give us another “Luke and Laura” to root for. You already took away Sasha and Cody
She wasn’t asking permission of Dante. She wanted him to know because for a few years now those kids have been part of his family with Sam. They lived together. He loves them like his own and they love him. He thought when Sam passed his “family” would stay together which is why he kept saying he didn’t know how to do it without Sam…she was the glue that held “their” family together. It’s hard to not only lost the person you love but the kids she brought with her into the relationship. Both Jason and Drew were gone for years, and both put Carly ahead of their kids. It was Dante who was the constant father figure in their lives.
Jason should move back into the Quartermaine house. He’s been gone too long. This way Danny and Scout can remain together, and they”re all familiar with what house and their Quartermaine family. Sam had them over there constantly.
I agree totally and I think the kids should have some input as to where and whom they will live with.
Agreed!
EXACTLY!!
Alexis is grieving and wants Sam’s kids to live w her?. She needs time 1st and foremost
As.for her telling Dante about Danny n Scout. Dante has No Authority where the kids Stay. He is not their Dad’s he is a Fiancé that’s it.
Can someone tell me where is Alexis’s best friend Diane during this grieving time? IS she too busy crying over her own grief of Holly and Robert’s seemingly renewed romance?
I think the writer has some serious issues!
Why would you make a couple like Sasha and Cody biological cousins? That’s nuts!
And for Sam (Kelly Monaco) I don’t know what the reason was behind her leaving the show but that was really crazy as well! Not happy about that at all!
I also don’t like the Drew/Willow/Nina triangle. That is just sick!
What is with this writer?
I think the writer needs to either be, let go, or change his thinking on these story lines. Not liking it at all!!!
It really does feel like the writing team is a bunch of perverts.
I feel Alexis and Dante were excellent , but some of those tears real as Kelly leaves the show ( mad). Sasha needs a happier story line, she’s suffered enough. I think you need to to give the hopeless audience something to hope for.
CRAPOLA…!!
Dante and Alexis best performance
Great acting. So good in a bad situation
I hope they stay her parents. Robert sharing a child with Holly is fabulous. Much better than Luke.
Honestly I’m happy Kelly Monaco is gone & GH has moved past her useless whiny role.
Speaking of whiny roles, Porsha should next be on the chopping block.
I can’t wait to see how soon Michael dumps Willow and finds a worthy woman to enjoy life with. He deserves it.
I agree most heartfelt about Kelly being let go, she was one “Whinny holier than thou” actor and have kids that are “cousins” to each other yuck
OMG , how ignorant can you get? Wait until Willow has her Uncle- in- law’s kid, how will they be related to her daughter, or is that too hard to get your brain around?
They gave excellent performances and I don’t want Sasha to be Robert’s daughter, Holly is such a con she reminds me of Esme!!
I think Dante & Alexis have done an outstanding performance. I lost a son and it has really brought those feelings i felt. I really do not understand why you had to take Sam out
Was disappointed that they has Sam die so close after donating part of her liver. Hope this doesn’t discourage ppl from donating IRL.
It’s heart breaking that they killed off Sam, because I was hoping that they would bring Jason and Sam back together again.
Why can’t they kill off Drew. I can’t stand this Drew. He’s always taking off his shirt yuck!!! And to watch Willow with Drew is sick sick sick!!!!
The biggest mistake they made is bringing this Drew in. What are they thinking!!! c’mon bring Sam back make it a nightmare that Sam had. Please FIRE the headwriters!!!!
I still don’t trust Holly I feel like she’s up to something she always is and it’s like Robert said she can’t be trusted, and Mac even said it to, no, I was really upset that they had to split up Dante and Sam. I like those two together but I really think that Cyrus had something to do with Sam’s death is they’re saying the spoilers that Cyrus wanted out of the picture so Dante and Lulu could be reunited together, but who knows, Nancy, Lee Grant and Dominique did really good on the show this week. They showed their characters emotions really well. They actually had me and tears too so excellent job to those two.
Can they fully trust Brennan? Is he the one who told Sidwell about Sasha? Is he wanting the diamonds too? Could he have tampered with the DNA test?
Don’t like Sasha and Cody getting broke up. I thought it was time Sasha found happiness. She’s been through enough. And I hate they got rid of Kelly Monaco after all these years, she was a great character, good luck replacing her, won’t be easy. I’ve been watching GH for over 60 years.
I didnot. like. how she. die
I am really disappointed that they killed off Sam. The writers had made her into a character that was no longer exciting. She deserved a better script. Not happy at all with the current writers. They are ruining the show. I have been watching since 1969 so I have a right to express my feelings. You have gotten rid of some wonderful characters. Nancy Graham and Danta have done a wonderful, show stopping performance since Sam died. I lost a son and it has brought home a lot of feelings. Cried right along with them. Sad for the loss of Kelly.
I have stopped watching. There’s too much sadness, too much death on General Hospital. They just finished with the baby’s death now it’s Sam and everyone is crying. Even the live story of happiness between Sasha and her man got tanked so there’s no happiness anywhere and I need some happiness in my life right now.
I’m so very sorry to hear. Prayers that some happiness starts to break in thru cracks that are forming around the sadness. 😉
EXCELLENT!
It’s just horrible they broke up the story of Sasha and Cody. They both needed each other and were really in love. I don’t understand why they would even bring Holly back. She is a horrible actress no matter what her story line is and giving Sasha a mother like that is disgraceful. Robert isn’t much better. But, breaking up Sasha and Cody was a sad decision.

‘General Hospital’s’ Steve Burton Shares Reaction to His Lead Actor Daytime Emmy Nomination, ‘It Was to Honor Leslie Charleson’

The 53rd Annual Daytime Emmy Award nominations kicked-off on Monday with the announcements of four major categories including, Outstanding Lead Performer in a Daytime Drama Series — Actor, and among the nominees is General Hospital’s Steve Burton (Jason Morgan).
Burton is already a two-time Daytime Emmy winner in the Supporting Actor category for his roles as GH’s Jason and his turn as Dylan McAvoy on Y&R. However, Steve is yet to win in the Lead Actor category and he has received 11 nominations along the way in his daytime career.
Following the reveal that he is a 2026 Daytime Emmy nominee, he and his GH co-star, podcast co-host and comedy show partner, Bradford Anderson (Spinelli) taped a special edition of their That’s Awesome podcast just featuring Burton’s reaction to the news.

FOR LESLIE CHARLESON
Steve expressed, “I know it’s such a cliche to say, ‘I’m just so honored to be nominated.’ But truly, I’m so grateful to be nominated, so grateful to just be on the show off and on for 30 plus years and to be nominated with the guys in my category. Just to get the opportunity. Frank (Valentini, executive producer, GH) texted me right away. I was just like, ‘Thank you for the opportunity to get to do what I do.'”
Taking in the moment, Burton thanked those who helped him select the material for his nominated reel. “Unless you win, you don’t get to say things. So. I’m going just say a few things: Elizabeth Korte (co-head writer, GH) helped me a lot with the material, (as did) Michelle Henry, who’s a producer on the show, Laura Wright (Carly, GH), and then my wife Michelle (Lundstrom). I believe it was Jill Phelps who told me that when A Martinez felt like he had a great show or great scenes, he would mark it down. So, when Emmy time comes, you have all the show numbers written down, and you don’t have to think about it, because that’s half the battle (finding the material).
Burton explained how meaningful this nomination is for him, because of playing the scenes of Jason losing Monica, and his closeness with the late, great Leslie Charleson.
“The nomination’s an amazing thing, and it’s beautiful, but really it’s to honor Leslie Charleson. A lot of my material was because of her, and how I started on the show as a Quartermaine, it just means a ton,” shared Burton. “Maurice Benard (Sonny, GH) has obviously has been instrumental, and I’ve said it from day one and I’ll shout it from the rooftops. If it wasn’t for him, I wouldn’t be here, and to be working with the people that we work with is incredible.”

SHOULD JOHN OLIVER BE NAMED HOST OF THE DAYTIME EMMYS?
During the end of his conversation with Anderson, Steve suggested that the host of the Daytime Emmy should be Last Week Tonight’s John Oliver, who recently guest starred as the head of the WSB named Z on General Hospital, and is soon to show up on Days of Our Lives in a mystery role in August.
Thus far, the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences has not revealed their host for the upcoming ceremony to be held on October 30 in a venue to be named in Hollywood, California.
You can watch Steve sharing his reaction to receiving his 2026 Lead Actor Daytime Emmy nomination below on a special segment on the That’s Awesome podcast.
Now let us know, are you glad that Steve chose scenes surrounding Jason mourning the loss of the woman that raised him, Monica Quartermaine for his Emmy reel? What do you think of John Oliver as a suggestion to host the Daytime Emmys? Weigh-in via the comment section below.

GENERAL HOSPITAL: Jason Reconnects with Danny; Tristan Roberts Arrives in Port Charles, Lots of Nods to #16

General Hospital’s 16,000th episode was packed with little reminders through points in today’s script that the ABC daytime drama series has set another milestone and it paved the way for the return of fan favorite and newly nominated Daytime Emmy Lead Actor nominee Steve Burton (Jason Morgan). The 16,000th episode also introduced viewers to the new surgeon in Port Charles Dr. Tristan Roberts played by Dean Geyer.
Here are the key takeaways and what went down on the July 13 episode: Tristan and Jason are seated next to each other on a plane heading to Port Charles. Throughout the flight, a beaten up Jason has flashbacks to being thrown into, and being held captive in a cell and tortured. It appears Jason is suffering from some form of PTSD from what he was put through after being dragged out of Port Charles by the WSB months ago.
As the plane prepares to land, Tristan tells Jason there would be a car waiting for him once they land and to enjoy the rest of his life. Later, Tristan arrives at the nurses and doctors hub at GH and approaches Elizabeth (Rebecca Herbst). He tells her his name and that he is the new surgeon on staff.

A REUNION PLUS A HEAD NURSE DEFENDS SONNY
Meanwhile, at the end of the episode, Jason is outside the Quartermaine boathouse looking bewildered when he runs into Danny (Asher Antonyzyn), who is so thrilled to see his father, and the two hugs each other as tears are shed.
Elsewhere, Elizabeth tells Sonny (Maurice Benard) that he thinks its a great idea for him to get the 16th seat on the hospital board, but when it comes times to convince Tracy Quartermaine (Jane Elliot) of that, things go awry when Tracy, Laura and Sonny try to work things out. After Tracy launches into Sonny about killing Alan and Monica’s son AJ, Sonny walks away dejected.
Next, Sonny runs into Elizabeth, where he informs her what happened with Tracy. So what’s a head nurse to do? Elizabeth marches into the conference room and reminds Tracy of all the different donations and ways Sonny has contributed to the hospital from the Stone Cates AIDS wing, to the Michael Corinthos Center for Pediatric Head Injuries as well as his constant support each year for the GH Nurses’ Ball.

WSB WAR SCARS
Then, in one of the best parts for longtime fans of the series, Elizabeth talks about her legendary grandparents, Audrey and Steve Hardy and she tells Tracy they would have wanted Sonny to have a seat on the board for all the good that he has done for the hospital. After Elizabeth states Sonny’s case, things took a turn and Tracy and Sonny wound up shaking hands as Sonny is board member #16.
In the how great was it to see Anna (Finola Hughes) and Valentin (James Patrick Stuart) together scenes department, the pick-up of last Friday’s cliffhanger is played out as the two former lovers fill each other in on what has gone down in their lives in the last several months including Valentin admitting he had been living in Carly’s attic, and Anna realizing she was kidnapped by Cullum, Sidwell and Cassius Faison. During their conversation, Anna sees the hallucination of Peter August (Wes Ramsey) right while Valentin is standing there.

Later Anna was on her way to saying goodbye to Valentin, when the two share an emotional hug. After Valentin made his exit, Peter reappeared and warned Anna to not let Valentin distract her because she has important work to do. Anna answers, “I know.”
So, what did you think of General Hospital’s 16,000 episode? What do you think is wrong with Jason? What is the important “work” that Anna has to do? Were you glad to see Sonny get a seat on the hospital board, or not so much. Weigh-in via the comment section. But first, check out the scenes on Jason and Tristan’s long flight to Port Charles.
