GENERAL HOSPITAL: Battle Lines are Drawn Between Drew and Alexis

By Michael Fairman

After evoking the name of the late Sam McCall (Kelly Monaco) on the Wednesday, August 13, episode of General Hospital, things go from bad to worse between Drew Cain (Cameron Mathison) and Alexis Davis (Nancy Lee Grahn), leaving viewers suspecting that maybe “Natasha” will soon take her “dagger” and try to kill the guy!

Here’s what went down: as the episode picked up in the Quartermaine foyer, Drew continues to demand Chase (Josh Swickard) arrest Danny Morgan (Asher Antonyzn) for taking his daughter, Scout (Cosette Abinante), out of summer camp and back to the Q’s. When Jason (Steve Burton) tries to defend his son, Drew then wants Jason arrested too for obstruction of justice.

Trying to have cooler heads prevail, Alexis puts on her lawyer hat and tells Drew that Danny is a minor, and there is no case here, and it was Scout who asked her brother to bring her here as she missed her family. Chase stands firm against Drew and will not arrest Danny, but will give him a warning, so he heads to the living room to talk to him. In the foyer, Jason warns Drew to never try to get payback against him by using his son. Later, once alone with Danny, Jason tells him to be careful in the future, because if something were ever to happen to him, he would not be able to live with himself.

Now, it’s showdown time! In the foyer, Alexis tries to make Drew understand that he is taking this situation with Scout to the extreme, and trying to make him understand, one more time, that Scout misses her family. Drew fires back that he is protecting his daughter because Danny acts like Jason where they do whatever they want, and he will not have him influence Scout.

Then, Drew says Sam would want him to protect their daughter, Next, Alexis says that since he invoked Sam’s name, she would want her daughter to with her brothers, Rocco (Finn Carr) and Danny, not kept from her family, and by no means would want her taken to D.C. away and isolated from everyone she knows and loves.

The next moment was pivotal, knowing Alexis has been grieving the death of Sam for nearly 10 months now, he tells her what Sam would or would not want doesn’t matter anymore, because she’s not here. Drew has had it and says that Scout needs to be kept from people who undermine him, which Alexis did by not telling him that Scout was at the Q’s with, so this includes people like her!

Courtesy/ABC

Ultimately, Drew walks out, Alexis is beyond angered and devastated, that he is planning on keeping her from the only living thing she has of her late daughter’s. It was another despicable play by Drew, who is racking up the enemies.

Now, let us know, what did you think of what Drew said to Alexis? Is an attempted murder or murder mystery forthcoming, that could see Alexis believed to be the culprit, but could Sidwell actually be the one who does the congressman in (remember he got Alexis fingerprints on the dagger)? Could Danny be the one in the line of fire, if something happens to Drew? What are your predictions from here? Comment below, but first check out some of the key moments that led to the falling out between Alexis and Drew below.

Kill Drew off already. Obnoxious character with no redeeming qualities.

I dunno. He’s kind of fun to hate and Cameron is doing a great job. Conversely, Peter was not fun to hate, and I was happy to see him go

I completely agree.

And I didn’t use word salad, Michael!

I know!

Peter was one character (like Sabrina and Courtney) that stayed well past his expiration date.

There’s plenty more story to tell with Drew.

I like Drew. He’s nice.

You must be watching old episodes from 2017.

Just when I thought I couldn’t hate Drew any more than I already do… it is even stronger now. Maybe Joslyn can make him disappear like she did with Cyrus !

I have a feeling Drew will be joining us here in Hell before “Agent Jacks” has even returned from Croatia.

Drew’s open threats against Jason and Alexis yesterday (in front of a cop, no less) and him getting a public punch in the face from Mikey all seem to be pointing to Drew being Dragon Chow by Labor Day.

The one good thing about the Croatia angle is that at least Jason will probably have a good alibi and won’t be accused of sending his own brother to Hell.

Loved the end of Fridays show.. let’s hope Agent Jacks shot the right man. I am loving “Agent Jacks”

To quote Juliet,” Oh happy dagger!”

If this is truly Drew, the writers need to find a soft spot for the character. The best “corporate villains” such as Adam Chandler, Palmer Cortland, and Asa Buchanan had redeeming qualities to show they weren’t 100% bad. We haven’t seen Drew bond with Scout since prison. Will Monica’s impending death impact the man she welcomed into the family?

Many have predicted a murder mystery, but we’ve been burnt with that thought on numerous characters over the past 10 years. I don’t envision that now as there’s still more story to tell with the Drew character.

100% agree with you OG Steve. GH has too many murderous villains who can only last so long. Drew seems like the long term villain GH needs, but yet, he can’t be evil all the time. He needs to do things for Scout – let her be with her Grandmothers, her siblings, aunts, etc. And also agree that murdering Drew is a waste. But I am a big proponent of him getting shot. That could be a good story. Maybe leading to some redemption. But not too much!

Agree with you Jeff on the getting shot suggestion. Something that maybe lands Drew in a coma for a few months to give the character a break. Many major characters will be suspects, but the culprit will be someone expendable like Ezra (or perhaps Kai).

I cannot stand Drew’s character he needs to be beaten up. I use too like drew when he was not Cameron mathison but the other one the cuter one. He is obnoxious fr

Last week I was saying I am sick of Alexis. But if this standoff between her and Drew takes Alexis’ attention off of Kristina and onto Scout, I welcome the storyline. Too bad Willow smacked Lucas instead of Drew.

Drew has got to die!!!!!!!!!!!! Somebody, please put that worthless sack of nothing out of our collective misery. He has no redeeming qualities. Willow and Scout are just possessions for him to show off and/or use as he pleases.

I don’t want Alexis to kill him. Perhaps Daniel Cosgrove’s character or someone from Sidwell’s staff can get the job done. (Not that I want to get rid of Daniel Cosgrove. It’s just that his character doesn’t do much.)

I totally agree and don’t care if it’s Ezra. Can’t stand him either and I’m sorry they gave Cosgrove such a loathsome part. There are no redeeming qualities in Drew. NONE. He’s got to go. Preferably, 6 feet under.

I like Drew. He’s a nice guy.

Yeah, so was Ted Bundy.

This must be pre-Jason memory-mapped Drew, which we saw slight hints of when Franco got memory-mapped in 2019, because this is not the Drew Cain that we had when Billy Miller was in the role. Yes, Cameron Mathison is doing some solid work with the subpar material he is being given, but it has gone well past off-putting to watch. This truly must be leading up to a “Whodunnit” storyline regarding Drew (a character that truthfully only came back because Steve Burton fired himself/walked away from the role).

It is time to get rid of drew. Tired of his storyline. Quit watching show until he is gone or gets stopped

Leave Drew alone! He’s a nice guy!

Sam…you have said that 3 times already!!!!! Most of us DON’T agree with you anyway…SO STOP IT!!!!!

I guess it’s true what they say,” Nice guys finish last.”

Drew will be harmed, Alexis could be blamed because of the dagger. The shoe will have to fall over the embezzlement scheme so Idk if she will be Drew’s culprit. There is always Curtis in the background and Jordan. Is he really Drew? I also wonder about Danny and Rocco. I think Danny will be like Dante and Rocco will be like Jason. It makes me laugh to think about. I’ve been watching this show over 40 years, anything is possible. So glad to have Liesl and Britt back. Now Scotty. Prayers for Tristan(Robert)

GENERAL HOSPITAL: Who is Hudson in Cahoots With After Revealing Phone Call?

Published

The mysterious Hudson (Troy Lennon Appel) is clearly in collusion with someone as witnessed on the Tuesday, August 24 episode of General Hospital.

Since Troy Lennon Appel made his debut on the soap on July 30, we already know he “appears” to be the true biological father of baby Phoebe, and is quite the bad dude after roughing up Ethan in Norway.

Now in Port Charles, claiming he is there for JJE (Jasper Jacks Enterprises) business, and with the edict to contact Josslyn Jacks (Eden McCoy) and let her know her father named her the CEO of his company while he is “sailing” abroad, he was initially met with resistance when Josslyn refused to accept the job.

I’VE CHANGED MY MIND

However, after a recent turn of events, where Brennan (Chris McKenna) told Josslyn, the WSB has her next assignment, and it is to find out what’s going on with her father’s company, they demanded her to accept the CEO position. Now Josslyn is caught and has to back-petal after initially telling Hudson to bring her qualified candidates and she would pick one as her replacement.

In all-new episodes, while at the Quartermaine boathouse, Josslyn informed Hudson that she was now taking the CEO position. Josslyn cited that she realized she wanted to honor her father’s wishes and uphold his legacy.

Hudson is stunned and tries to dissuade her, and is quite suspicious over her sudden change of heart. Realizing no matter what he said Josslyn was not backing down, Hudson says he hadn’t been on board with Jax’s decision to give the company to Josslyn, but now he could see that maybe he’d  been wrong about her.

HUDSON HAS A PROBLEM

Josslyn says failing herself, or her father, isn’t an option and when she commits to something she goes all in. She tells Hudson that she would appreciate his support. Hudson says she has it, as she turns to walk away after dropping her bombshell decision on him.

Next, a very pissed off Hudson, picks up his phone and makes a call to someone and tells them that Josslyn took the job. He intimates that this is bad news and will screw up their plans. He tells the person on the other end that he is going to make her change her mind!

So, where is this leading? Who could Hudson be working with on the inside and who did he call? How do you see General Hospital weaving in Josslyn taking over JJE as their new WSB mystery story? Put your creative hats on and let us know your thoughts via the comment section.

But first, check out the GH teaser below for today’s Wednesday, August 26 episode below, where Josslyn tells her mother, Carly to accept her decision of either taking the job at JJE or staying with the WSB!

‘General Hospital’s’ Josh Swickard Recalls Emotional Moment After His Final Scenes with Michael Easton, and Favorite ‘Chase’ Storyline

Published

on

By

Josh Swickard

Josh Swickard (Harrison Chase, General Hospital) is the special guest on this week’s all-new episode of Soapy Hosted by Rebecca Budig and Greg Rikaart. The GH fan favorite and leading men opened up about his life pre and post GH, his marriage to actress and producer, Lauren Swickard, and some of his toughest and most memorable moments during his eight-plus years as officer Chase of the PCPD.

One of the most heartbreaking moments came when Josh had to say farewell to his on-screen brother Finn played by soap veteran, Michael Easton. It was back on the Thursday, June 27, 2024 episode of General Hospital.

In it, Chase drives Finn to a rehab facility and the two brothers share a heartfelt talk in the car. Finn thanks Chase for allowing him to say goodbye to his daughter, Violet (Jophielle Love). Chase promises to take good care of her. However, Chase warns Finn to not to take any shortcuts on his way to sobriety and to always think of Violet’s wellbeing. It is apparent, the brothers don’t want to say goodbye, but on the count of three, Finn leaves Chase’s car and walks through the door of the rehab facility, while Chase in tears beats the steering wheel before drives away.

MISSING HIS TV BROTHER

Josh spoke to the “Soapy” podcast hosts about it and recalled, “In our last scenes together, and it was like his last day. Michael was like, ‘It’s okay.’ And I was like, ‘No, it’s not.’ I was supposed to be crying in the scene, I think. I was like a little glassy-eyed, a little glazed over. And then they were like, “And cut.”  I was like, “Great.” I just like went behind the car and wept.”

Speaking of his professional and personal relationship with Easton, Josh expressed, “Michael is an awesome guy. He’s such a sweetheart. We’ve done fan events together in New York and he would show me things, like, ‘This where I used to live  …’ He’s like an older brother to me.”

Not only did Josh lose his on-screen brother, but he also lost his on-screen father, Gregory, played by Gregory Harrison, when he was killed-off the show after the character battled ALS. “I think I was more just mourning friends that play family on a show, but a show that goes year after year, year round, and so they become family,” explained Swickard. “So, that part’s been hard for me of just losing friends that while, yes, you get to see each other, you get to call each other, it’s different (when they leave).”

CHASE IN A COMA IS FAVORITE OF JOSH’S

When asked, what has been his favorite storyline during his run on GH thus far, Josh took it back to when Chase became became critically ill after being poisoned by a toxic from Peter August (Wes Ramsey) meant for Finn. Eventually, Finn had to rescue his brother with the antidote for the toxin. That story played out from April to June 2021.

Josh explained, “Where I was in a coma and I was seizing and coughing and I had no blocking for like four months! It was great! It was a storyline where I was about to die and I had to say goodbye to a lot of lovely people and it was so exhausting. You get in the car and you feel like you got hit by a train every day because your body doesn’t fully know what acting is, apparently. I remember multiple days being like, ‘Oh, this is why I signed up for this.'”

Swickard also answered if there were moments in the storyline if he felt Chase was not going to survive. The GH star answered, “There were moments that I wondered.  However, I think they were pretty upfront with me. They were like, ‘This isn’t what’s going to happen.'”
