GENERAL HOSPITAL: Cullum Goes On a Tear and the Lives of Marco, Jason, Britt and Rocco are Changed Forever

By Michael Fairman

The Monday, March 23 episode of General Hospital did not disappoint as it moved storylines to its apex, and clearly delineating who is the baddest man in Port Charles of them all! Yup! WSB Director Ross Cullum (Andrew Hawkes).

In story, Marco (Adrian Anchondo) was stabbed by Cullum in the law office of Miller & Davis and left there, bleeding out on the floor and at that point, still alive. Next, Cullum sees the message from Lucas (Van Hansis) that he’s meeting Britt (Kelly Thiebaud) at the pier.

Lucas goes to Britt, and their scenes showed the very human side of their once contentious and thawed relationship played to perfection by Kelly Thiebaud and Van Hansis. Meanwhile, Jason (Steve Burton) had to escape an arrest warrant by the WSB in front of his son, Danny (Asher Antonyzyn), by head-butting Dante (Dominic Zamprogna) to get away and Rocco (Finn Carr) showed up on the pier hiding in the shadows, listening to every shady thing that is going down against the woman who gave birth to him, Britt!

CULLUM TURNS EVEN MORE DEADLY

In addition, Brennan (Chris McKenna) seems like the first person to call out Nathan (Ryan Paevey), for potentially not being the real Nathan and what his purpose is for showing back up in Port Charles 7 years after he supposedly died. The two share a war of words, while Brennan is looking for Britt and searching her room at Bobbie’s. Brennan wonders if Nathan is just clueless and lost 7 years of his life, or if he is working on the inside and knows much more about the Cullum/Sidwell exploits then he is letting on.

After Jason gets away from Dante, the acting police commissioner puts on an APB on him, and Danny gets upset that Jason doesn’t have his gun to protect himself, because he surrendered the weapon to Dante.

Back at the pier, Britt is so grateful to Lucas and Marco for getting her the vials of medication to save her life. She admits she is leaving town tonight with Jason which Rocco overhears. Britt pleads with Lucas to not go back to Wyndemere as it will quickly be discovered that the two vials of he medication were stolen. She also tells Lucas to watch his back.

MARTIN TELLS LAURA HE’S LEAVING PORT CHARLES

In the mayor’s office, Martin (Michael E. Knight) informs his sister Laura (Genie Francis) that he’s leaving Port Charles for a case in Reno but then worries he’s leaving Laura to have to deal with Tracy (Jane Elliot). Laura reassures him all will be OK. After Martin exits, Sidwell (Carlo Rota) shows up and tells Laura that Martin’s leaving was all his doing since he was getting his nose in business he shouldn’t have. Sidwell remains threatening to Laura when he brings up Kevin and Ace. Laura asks how he’d react if his son Marco was threatened, but he still remains threatening to the mayor to do his bidding, or else!?

After Lucas has left, Cullum shows up on the pier. He demands Britt give him the medication vials and pulls out a gun. Rocco is hiding/watching the whole thing. Sadly, Britt hands the vials to Cullum and he stomps all over them and she begins to cry. Cullum says she has two choices. She either returns to Wyndemere to finish the prototype where she will be locked up, or he’ll arrest her as the director of the WSB.

JASON AND CULLUM SHOWDOWN TAKES SURPRISING TURN

A fight breaks out, between Cullum and Britt. She goes flying and hits her head on a crate and is knocked out. Suddenly, from out of nowhere, Jason shows up and jumps Cullum before he has the chance to shoot at Britt. As Jason and Cullum have a knock down drag out fight, Cullum’s gun does down, but Cullum pulls out a weapon that resembles a long baton and is about to strike Jason dead with it, when Rocco picks up the gun and shoots Cullum in the back. Jason is stunned and so too is Rocco!

Then, in the GH preview for tomorrow’s March 24 episode below, someone is rushed into surgery (we think it’s Cullum) and Alexis stumbles upon something in her office, we assume it’s Marco!

So, what did you think of today’s dark episode of General Hospital? What did you think of Rocco shooting Cullum, which will set up a whole set of problems with his father, Dante? With Steve Burton leaving GH for his hiatus, how will Jason exit the show? And what of Marco? Imagine the heartbreak for Lucas if he is pronounced dead! Let us know your thoughts and theories via the comment section below.

THIS is what a soap opera is supposed to be!! So glad I’m watching GH again! Today’s show was amazing!!! I was on the edge of my seat.

I agree, GH is the best soap out there ☆☆☆☆☆

I loved the twist and turns in this episode. Glad cullum got shot. Hate marco got stab but the story line was very exciting. Loved all the action. Love you general hospital. Keep up the good work.

You wouldn’t expect Luke Spencer and Sonny Corinthos’ grandson (who was carried to term by the daughter of Cesar Faison) to have a normal life.

Looking forward to seeing the twists this carries for each of the characters.

Kudos to Hawkes, who plays a very convincing bad guy. Much more ominous than Rota.

Great episode today. But Britt needs to get her medication and her Jason need to leave Port Charles. Marco needs to live. Jason needs to tell Dante the whole story about Sidwell shooting the professor and is blackmailing Laura for doing it.

I think cellular should die and sidwell should leave laura alone as he needs to grieve.his own son and all this wsb stuff should come to head and valintene be freed from his nightmare but who knows.

Sadly, Sidwell will probably suspect Laura and Sonny. Since Laura had mentioned Marco in their last meeting.

Sounds like it was great. Unfortunately the SPECIAL REPORT ABOUT THE PLANE CRASH AT LA GUARDIA HAD TO COME ON AT THE SAME TIME AS GH. TG WAS JUST ABLE TO CATCH.IT ON MY PHONE TO CATCH UP.

I Loved the Story today,,, hopefully Marco lives a minute to talk to his Loved ones.. Jason will quickly give Rocco a lesson on keeping his mouth shut. Cullen Lives.. Sidwell????

Hopefully collum dies and sidwell realizes they are closing in on him

I want culumn to be dead Marco survived Brit to get access to her medicine and creat medicine by her self. Sidwell to be dragged and dead.

I WISH ALL THE BAD GUYS GET OUT OF PORT CHARLES, SO SORRY IT HAD TO ROCCO TO PULL THE TRIGGER, , FEELING THE FALL OUT WILL AFFECT ROCCO

But if all the bad guys left Port Charles, there would be no stories.

How boring would that be!
In real life it would be bliss, but a daytime drama needs….. wait for it…… DRAMA!

I’ve never understood the soap “fans” who want everybody happy…

WOW, what an episode. Makes Y&R look as exciting as Sponge Bob

Ain’t that the truth!

And Y&R has more holes in their stories than Sponge Bob has in his body.

Your so predictable. You have done this so many times. Killing off Jason is sick. This time he’s alive. He needs a vacation we all do and you need to hire writers that care about the show more than thier paycheck it shows. By the way iam 72 years old and have watch GH every day since I can remember.

Denise, I’m confused. To whom are you speaking ?

I LOVE my General Hospital!! I’ve been a fan for over 30 years!! Since Luke & Laura! ❤️ My family & friends know don’t call me between 2pm-3pm!! The actors, the writers, the storylines are truly amazing!!

I hope Marco makes it.

Me too. Tired of all the good guys dying too soon while the bad guys keep living while making everyone’s lives miserable. And yes, I’m incorporating real life into my escapism.

I would also be confused why Adrian was signed to a contract role only to have Marco exit so soon. I would be very sad and feel robbed of see Lucus in a happy relationship.

If Marco does die…I feel I will have a sadness that Conor feels over Dex’s untimely death.

Don’t be getting all Conor on us, lol.

Being on his first soap contract, Adrian certainly had 13-week cycles where the show could cancel the rest of the contract. He’s been on for a year now. The decision to have the character depart likely happened prior to the photo shoot last September.

While there was a lot of potential at first for Marco and Lucas, this apparent ending is what classifies as “storyline dictated”.

I was cooking while watching and almost burned my squash! Everything was moving at a hundred miles an hour ! It was great!!

I don’t like the way the show is going now.

Please be more specific. Tell us why.

Well now we have a good exit strategy for Jason while keeping Britt on the canvas. Jason leaves as a hero, and will be released from prison when it is found out that Collum is the villain and Rocco was merely saving Jason’s life. Well done.

Let Marco live.

Won’t police forensics see the crushed medicine vials on the dock? And find the baton knife?
It should have Marco’s blood on in it leading to Cullum as a suspect, not Jason.

Wish they would have done a temporary recast for Burton !! Trevor St John would have been amazing!!!!

This week on all-new episodes of General Hospital investigations, protection modes and conflict are the order of the day. In the just released ABC promo for the soap opera entitled “Held Captive,” first Lulu (Alexa Havins) is preparing to flea the country with Rocco (Finn Carr) if necessary including having passports ready and their bags packed.

Meanwhile, Josslyn (Eden McCoy) is trying to find a way out of captivity and as she moves her bed she finds a shocking message,“Anna Devane (Finola Hughes) was held captive here. I was taken on 10-31-25.” Suddenly, Josslyn is so panicked and determined. She tells herself she is going to get out of there. Next, we see her smashing a chair into someone’s face! GENERAL HOSPITAL SPOILERS

Well, in an additional newly released clip featuring Bennett in his debut episode on Monday, it’s clear that Detective Fitzpatrick is looking into Curtis (Donnell Turner) and Isaiah’s (Sawandi Wilson) altercation at the Metro Court Pool when he says, “What are the chances Ashford talks his way out of an arrest? ‘General Hospital’s’ Finn Carr and Dominic Zamprogna Deliver the ‘Power Performances of the Week’

Published

on

By

The on-screen father/son combo of General Hospital’s Dante and Rocco Falconeri as portrayed by Dominic Zamprogna and Finn Carr were part of high emotional stakes scenes on episodes airing May 11-15.

First, Finn Carr’s Rocco is so guilt-ridden and burdened with the secret that he shot WSB director, Ross Cullum that it’s eating him alive. So much so, that he gets into a heated argument with Charlotte (Bluesy Burke) and Danny (Asher Antonyzyn). Rocco feels so badly that Danny’s father was taken from him for parts unknown by the WSB, all because Jason refused to implicate Rocco as the shooter.

In a heartbreaking scene, Rocco shows up at Britt’s door and lets her know he can’t take it anymore and that the secret he is keeping is tearing him apart. The fear is palpable in Rocco’s eyes. Britt calls Rocco a hero for saving her life and Jason’s and he has to remember that. Britt hugs him and promises that he can come talk to her anytime. In that moment, Rocco felt seen and felt safe.

Courtesy/ABC

ROCCO ON THE EDGE

All of the beats mentioned above were played with depth and acting maturity by Finn Carr; that it is so very clear why the writers and the producers are so comfortable giving him the ball in this umbrella story. He steps up to the plate every time and hits it out of the park.

Rocco also overheard his parents fighting over him after Dante figured out that Rocco was responsible for the shooting, and confronted Lulu (Alexa Havins) for withholding the truth from him. As their argument escalated and their relationship was further threatened by the lies, Rocco listened to the whole thing from the outside porch.

Eventually Dante, who had learned the truth by having Elizabeth (Rebecca Herbst) help him piece together what happened the night Cullum was shot, has a heart to heart with his son. He asks Rocco to tell him in his own words the events that transpired, and promises Rocco, that even though he is the police commissioner, he is going to help him. Rocco goes step by step over how Cullum was about to strike Jason with a weighted-baton and how the gun was loose on the ground and he shot him. Dante says his actions saved Jason and Britt’s life, and that he is going to help his son from here on out. He just wished everyone had come to him sooner, because as the father it’s his job to protect his son, not the other way around.

DANTE COMES TO TERMS

Still later in the week, Dante is visited by Elizabeth, and they discuss how they are going to cover-up any evidence that Rocco was at the hospital the night of the shooting with a hand injury, and that Dante is going to make sure the evidence against Rocco disappears. Something that is a huge disconnect for anyone that knows what a fine and upstanding cop Dante has been through the years, but he is determined to help his son stay safe and to keep him close.

However, Cullum is on the hunt for said evidence, and thinks Danny may have shot him in the back (or does he … and he knows Rocco shot him?). He visits Dante’s office and wants the evidence in the shooting. Meanwhile, bets are we are a few story beats away from Danny learning Rocco shot Cullum.

Throughout all the material given to Finn Carr and Dominic Zamprogna they rose to the occasion. Finn, getting the opportunity to play the often uptight Rocco on the edge, and Dominic, showing us how he can make us feel what Dante is feeling just by watching the emotion and hurt in his eyes. Therefore, Michael Fairman TV names Finn Carr and Dominic Zamprogna our picks for the Power Performances of the Week.

Now below, let us know if you agree with our picks of Finn and Dominic as the standout performances of the week, and if so, what moment really tugged on your heartstrings featuring Rocco and/or Dante via the comment section.

‘General Hospital’s’ Steve Burton Reflects on His Time with TV Parents Stuart Damon and Leslie Charleson

Published

on

By

Steve Burton (Jason Morgan) took some moments to share stories and remembrances of two of the all-time greats of General Hospital, who also happen to have played his television parents, the late Stuart Damon (ex-Alan Quartermaine) and Leslie Charleson (ex-Monica Quartermaine).

The moment came during the release of Sunday’s all-new episode of the That’s Awesome podcast with Steve and Bradford Anderson. The episode featured questions from fans of the actors; one of which was for Steve that asked, “What it was like working with Stuart and Leslie as your parents?”

The two-time Daytime Emmy winner, who is currently in the last part of his extended hiatus from the ABC soap, always talks fondly of Stuart and Leslie and often gets choked up doing so. Stuart Damon passed away back in June of 2021, while Leslie Charleson passed away more recently in January of 2025. Burton debut as a young teenaged Jason Quartermaine back in 1991, and as he tells it, without the influence and help of Stuart Damon, his GH career may not be where it is today.

Photo: JPI

STUART DAMON’S WORK ETHIC

“Stuart was super consistent in how he worked. Super structured. I learned a lot from Stuart about his work ethic, his discipline, showing up, treating people kindly, being grateful,” recalled Burton. “If that’s what you can learn from somebody … that’s amazing. It was just something special about being in the Quartermaines. We had something. It was a special family put together.”

As viewers know, just by watching the death of Monica Quartermaine episodes earlier this year, just how close in real-life Steve was to the late Leslie Charleson. “Leslie was a firecracker. You didn’t know what was going to happen or when it was going to happen,” shared Burton. “I always tell the story about how I would come in chewing gum. I was this little cocky teenager and she’d be like, ‘spit it out now!’  Leslie was such a nurturing person. She loved to help, and had amazing sense of humor. I couldn’t have had two better onscreen parents ever.”

GH did a complete about face with the character of Jason Quartermaine after his motorcycle crash on New Year’s Eve in 1995, and he became Jason Morgan, who is now one of the all-time most beloved characters in the history of the show. But as Burton explains it, it may not have happened if it wasn’t for Stuart Damon.

YOU GOT TO GIVE THIS KID A SHOT

“Stuart was the biggest cheerleader of mine. Not often does this happen where somebody would go up to the fifth floor to whoever’s the executive producer and he says, ‘You gotta give this kid a shot. Give him more, see what he can do.’ That was really nice of him,” acknowledged Steve. “So, if it wasn’t for Stewart … I always speak very highly of him because he was amazing, In real-life, Stuart was just a beautiful soul would give anything to anybody. I always give him credit and Maurice Benard (Sonny Corinthos), because without the two of them there, I wouldn’t be where I am for sure.”

You can check out the entire episode of the latest edition of Steve and Bradford’s podcast below.

Now, let us know, do you think that Stuart Damon and Leslie Charleson as Alan and Monica were two of the greatest TV parents in the history of soap operas? What did you think of Steve’s remembrances? Drop your thoughts in the comment section.
