GENERAL HOSPITAL: Danny and Jason Have a Heart-Tugging Goodbye as Carly Turns Herself in and is Arrested by Cates
Excellent performances from Asher Antonyzyn (Danny), Steve Burton (Jason), and Laura Wright (Carly) were the order of the day on Thursday’s July 25th episode of General Hospital.
In story, Jason is ready to leave Port Charles for Alexandria and his next mission under the thumb of Agent Cates, when Danny shows up. Danny hopes his dad is not mad. He wants to know how long Jason will be gone this time. Jason says he can’t say, but wishes he could tell him.
Jason goes on to explain that he doesn’t want Danny anywhere involved in this part of his life. He admits he’s still in trouble due to the choices he made years ago before Danny was even born. Danny asks if he regrets the choices he made. Jason answers both yes and no, saying that what he regrets the most is how all the time went by that kept him away from his son.

As Danny is getting emotional, Jason says at least they get to say goodbye this time, and he’ll know he’s out there alive. Danny wants to know who he should be mad at for taking Jason away from him. Jason just wants Danny to be a kid, and not be mad at anyone about this. As they call for the departure of the bus to Alexandria, Danny hugs Jason. He wants his dad to promise they will see each other again, which Jason promises.

Meanwhile, Carly has had it with Cates (Adam J. Harrington) and what this has cost Jason. She demagnetizes the key card of Cates’ hotel room at the Metro Court. He comes to the front desk to get a new one, when Carly interrupts his request telling him he is no longer welcome at this hotel.
Cates says thought they were friends. Carly firmly tells him, they are not friends and that she hates him. Arrogantly, Cates suggests she call her buddy Jason, as he’ll tell her to let him stay at the hotel. Carly says he has no leverage over Jason and screams out, “You think you can charge me with RICO violations, prove I’m a big bad mob boss? Well, come and get me!”

Joss (Eden McCoy), Gio (Giovanni Mazza), Diane (Carolyn Hennesy) and Sonny (Maurice Benard) are all in the hotel lobby watching the showdown. Carly screams that she is no monster, and that she has nothing to do with the mob. She will be happy to prove that in court. Cates tells Carly to stand down, and she finally calls him out as a “vindictive bastard with an axe to grind.” Next, Cates places Carly under arrest, as she defiantly stands there with her hands outstretched waiting to be cuffed.
Carly tells Joss to go find Jason at the bus station and tell him what is happening. At the end of the episode, just as Jason is about to board the bus, Joss stops him and tells him her mom was just arrested. We fade to black.
You can check out the scenes featuring Steve Burton and Asher Antonyzyn below.
Now let us know, what did you think of Jason and Danny’s goodbye, and Carly standing up to Cates? Comment below.
These “RICO charges” are 666% a steaming pile of dragonshit. Carly attended ONE meeting with the “Five Families”, just to let them know that Corinthos Coffee LLC was in good hands (hers) and that all was proceeding normally within the business. No specific “illegal activities” were discussed during that meeting, and I’m not even sure Carly herself would know the specifics of what to discuss, as Sonny never involved her in the business during any of their multiple marriages.
If merely being in a meeting with alleged criminals is worthy of RICO charges, then I guess I should expect a visit from the FBI, as most criminals have to meet me eventually.
The Jason & Danny scenes were well done, but we all know Jason’s not going anywhere. Certainly not now that Carly got herself in handcuffs.
Hope your guest is Agent John Cates, AKA Jagger. Can’t be too soon for me, and give him appropriate accommodations, so he won’t be evicted like he just was by Carly.
Laura Wright is the BEST part of GH.
She makes Carly so bad a** and fun to watch whenever she is on screen.
GH sure has taken a beloved character – Jagger Cates – and literally killed his character for all time. Poor Jagger was doomed from the moment he uttered “Call Me John” – they’ve given him a new name “Agent John Cates” – and didn’t even have the decency to make sure his name was secure from duplication less than 2 weeks prior to his first on screen date. Brennan – was only known as “Brennan” until right before the local Pikeman crew were nabbed by Anna and Dante.
Cannot remember whether Agent Cates is expendable or not. If he is supposed to exist after Carly gets the charges wiped from her record or prevails in court – well it’s going to be a hard sell.
The questions we should all be asking ourselves: Who was the person on Cates phone call he was so terrified of disobeying and Where is Jagger Cates Autistic 21 ish year old son Stone Jr (an adult on the spectrum still makes a horrifying victim). Since Jagger walked into Bobbie’s, there has been no direct connection with his son – no phone calls and he is very rarely mentioned – although GH made a point of Cates running into Leo that first day.
Cates is also over the top out of control gunning for Sonny. Not sure that their 30+ year past really stands up to the irate volatile anger Jagger is showing us on screen.
There are two ways this can go: The first is to redeem Agent Cates but that is becoming harder with each episode in his present embodiment of Jagger as the nasty FBI Agent who is bullying our hunky GH hero Jason graces our screens.
#2 – Agent John Cates – would make a great “who killed FBI Agent John Cates” storyline. And it has been ages since GH has attempted a who done it story. Agent John Cates is a prime murder victim, while the beloved ‘Jagger Cates” might not be so hated. The list of perps quickly lining up (Carly/Jason/Sam/Spinelli with Sonny at the top of the list) To even a surprise suspect – Danny who wants his father home or an unknown Pikeman entity. (whoever wiped Brennan out of existence, Brennan himself or Valentine). If it’s Sonny it will make things oh so much more problematic if Sonny gets a bipolar meds pass with old friends like Robin and Lois who love the Jagger they once knew.
And don’t forget we have the sexually charged bipolar medicine blackmailer Ava slithering in and out of the picture. This whole scenario might save the uber slow burning Pikeman arc and make it watchable.

Is this how she stops her, or is Jacinda up to old tricks and wants to frame Willow? Remember when Jacindsa drugged Drew (Cameron Mathison)? Stay tuned.

Vincent Pastore of ‘Sopranos’ Fame and ‘General Hospital’s’ Maximus Giambetti Dies at 80

Vincent Pastore, best known for his memorable role as Salvatore “Big Pussy” Bonpensiero on HBO’s The Sopranos has passed away.
The veteran actor was found dead on August 1st in his home in the Bronx, New York. Pastore was 80-years-old. The cause of death is yet to be determined.
As well as his role on The Sopranos, many soap fans will recall he played multiple smaller roles on the beloved One Life to Live from 1995 and 2004. However, in 2008, he landed the short-term role as Maximus Giambetti on General Hospital.

PASTORE WANTED TO BE ON GENERAL HOSPITAL
Maximus was the mobster father of Sonny Corinthos’ (Maurice Benard) bodyguards: Max (Derk Cheetwood) and Milo (Drew Cheetwood)
According to Soap Opera Digest, Pastore told Soaps In Depth back in 2009, after appearing in a SOAPnet promotional campaign as a celebrity fan of General Hospital: “‘I’d love to be on the show. So they called up GH’s casting director (Mark Teschner) and Bobby (Robert Guza Jr. ex-head writer, GH) and they wrote me in!”
Pastore was a huge General Hospital fan from way back, who at one point told producers that he would watch the ABC soap opera while working in bars and nightclubs in the 70s and 80s.
Throughout his decades long career, Pastore appeared in films including: Goodfellas, Carlito’s Way and Men of Respect, The Jerky Boys: The Movie and the 1996 HBO TV movie Gotti.
In TV, besides The Sopranos, Pastore’s credits included: Law & Order, The Practice, Son of the Beach, Queens Supreme, Hawaii Five-0, Wu-Tang: An American Saga, plus the miniseries The Last Don II. Most recently, Vincent was a series regular on Gravesend and guest starred on Yellowjackets.
Pastore is survived by his daughter, Renee, son-in-law and granddaughter.
