GENERAL HOSPITAL: Drew! How Low Can You Go?

By Michael Fairman

“Now that Michael has the new baby, he doesn’t want Wiley and Amelia anymore!” Those were the horrible words intentionally spoken by Drew (Cameron Mathison) to his lawyer, Ric Lansing (Rick Hearst) in earshot of young Wiley on the Monday, June 9th episode of General Hospital.

Drew is freaking out over the closeness he witnessed between Michael (Rory Gibson) and Willow (Katelyn MacMullen) at the baby nursery after little Daisy was born. Realizing he needs to find a way to quickly fracture their growing closeness, he decides to plant that seed in the little boy’s mind.

Previously, Michael called Willow willing to meet with her alone at the courthouse before the custody hearing reconvenes, looking for what Willow believed an amicable solution.

Later, Michael comes upon an upset Wiley at the hospital and learns that he overheard Drew say that his dad doesn’t want him anymore. Michael reassured Wiley that nothing could be further from the truth and if anything, Michael said he needed Wiley’s help more than ever to be a big brother to Daisy and teach Amelia how to be a big sister. Michael has had it, and now will not have anything to do with Willow as long as this monster Drew is in their lives.

When Michael shows up at the courthouse, he interrupts Nina (Cynthia Watros) and Willow’s conversation and fills them in on what Drew said in front of Wiley. Immediately as if on cue, Willow defends Drew, saying Wiley must have misunderstood and even turned the tables on Michael for possibly making this story up. Willow goes on to say, “Drew is a good man who loves me and my children. He would never do something to hurt them!”

Michael coldly tells Willow to remember this as the moment she chose her relationship with Drew over their children and walks away. Just then, Drew comes onto the scene. Willow confronts Drew with what Michael accused him of, and he hugs her and says, “It just goes to show you that Michael … he’s not well, and the kids belong with us.” Nina looks on very suspicious of Drew.

When the courtroom custody case starts back up, Ric puts Willow on the stand and she paints Michael as a bad father, and shares that she flew all the way to Germany to see him and he would not even meet her halfway and see her while at the burn clinic recovering from his injuries.

Next, Michael writes on Diane’s (Carolyn Hennes legal pad, “That never happened.” Now, it’s Diane’s turn to cross-examine Willow. Can she get the truth to come out that Drew is behind keeping the former couple apart, and all of his manipulations? We sure hope so!

So, has Drew stooped to a new low with what he said in front of little Wiley? How will it come out that he kept Willow and Michael apart and also had sex with Willow’s mother Nina? Do you think the time is now, or will this drag on? Share your thoughts and reactions below.

I stopped watching GH quite a while ago. I think the writers feel if they keep trying to find out low they can go with Drew, it will keep us watching. Well, yesterday’s episode was the bottom of the barrel. It’s past time for Drew to pay for the things he’s done. GH is a good show and has a great cast, but the writers don’t give us a payoff.

Did you stop watching after Dex was killed off? Cuz I did. Maybe with Lucky leaving and Drew being murdered, Dex can return. And then us devoted Dex fans, including you, Lew, can go back to dutifully watching.

Let us know if you’d like us to post the list of 50 characters more likely to return than Dex.

I’m sure between Harry, GH Fan, Satan, and myself we can come up with at least that many.

Okay Steve, your responses to Super Devoted Dex Fan is making me roar with ribald laughter.

Wait, I thought you said you stopped watching “quite a while ago”?

I did. When scrolling through Michael Fairman’s updates, the GH info is there. When you see Drew with the deer in headlights look on his face, you can’t help but read the article. Still a fan of the show, but tired of Drew, Christina constantly fixated on Ava, the introduction of characters that go nowhere and the one woman wrecking crew, Lulu.

Drew has turned out to be a very unlikable character. And yes, he hit a new low yesterday saying that Michael didn’t want Wiley and Amelia. Why doesn’t Nina do the right thing and let Willow know that she and Drew had sex? Of course, Willow would stick up for Drew. Willow is also unlikable. So done with Drew!

The last time a character sunk this low, it was the Billy Warlock version of AJ. Who kidnapped Michael, Morgan, and Kristina when they were all young children, and then told them their parents didn’t love them anymore.

And then he manufactured some fake evidence to convince Sonny, Carly, and Alexis that their children were dead. Is this going to be the next move for Hallmark Drew?

Unless this judge is completely paid off (like the mall Santa who sent Michael to prison for his 666% justified takedown of Claudia Zucchini with an axe handle) there’s no question that Michael should get full custody of his children. But a Devil wouldn’t be surprised if Drew plays the AJ card after that, and kidnaps the kids.

Anyone else remember last December when Cameron predicted Drew & Willow might be the next LnL? Lol

Sure do ! If there is any upcoming couple that might capture the excitement Luke and Laura created… my bet is on Emma and Gio.

Speaking of Emma…it makes no sense why Joss is in the WSB instead of Emma. And on another note, since GH loves paternity reveals, they need to just go ahead and make Vaughn Frisco’s illegitimate son.

Good call. Drew & Willow are the next Sonny & Emily or Luke & Felicia – pairings that disgusted most of the viewers.

Carly & Frodd has to make that list too. As if Carly would have anything to do with the man who had her son raped in prison, and who made Jason’s life a living Hell for years??

Omg the Luke & Felicia pairing was wretched.

Drew goes lower than the bass pumping out of a tricked- out low rider car.

Willow is no prize either! Every man that has ever loved her, in the end she vilified them: Chase and Now Michael. She can’t stand on her own. She is still looking for the white knight, in Drew’s case, dark knight to rescue her. She’s sickening!

Drew has been asking for it for a long time. Now, he’s begging for it. I know he’s supposed to be Jason’s brother. I wasn’t watching when that bomb shell was revealed. Drew is a totally self centered, hateful opportunist. It’s time for him to meet with a terminal accident and leave the good people of Port Charles in peace. I’m sure the dumb, pathetic dish rag, Willow, will eventually get over it.

I told you this storyline is terrible, it seems pretty clear that they have no use for Drew so they might kill him off at some point, I just hope that they keep Cameron on the show by having bringing his character from “All my Children” to Port Charles.

When Drew and Willow were put together I like most viewers was quite disgusted, their pairing as well as other GH happenings were making me as a viewer hate this show I once love so much, and as a diehard fan even when on to say how much I hated the show in 2024, Well, I’m happy to say I’m out of that dark period as a fan, and while I still hate the Drew and Willow pairing, I’m actually enjoying the show again and enjoying Drew as a villain. What he did to poor willey was despicable but it was also great That Michael was able to assure Wiley that he loves him and Wiley believed his dad.

The Monday, May 18 episode of General Hospital brought with it a startling discovery, a new reality for one surgeon, a new cop on the scene, and a granddaughter determined to protect her grandmother.

First, Laura (Genie Francis) tells Mac (John J. York) and Dante (Dominic Zamprogna) that Anna (Finola Hughes) is in worse trouble than she was previously after she had Kevin to check on her while he was in Europe. They head out to update Emma (Braedyn Bruner) and Felicia (Kristina Wagner).

Meanwhile, Emma gets upset over Anna during a discussion with Felicia and breaks Anna’s favorite coffee cup. Emma is overcome with sadness and cries, trying to figure out how she is supposed to be so happy with Gio (Giovanni Mazza), while Anna is locked away somewhere against her own will.

BAD NEWS FOR EMMA

Laura and Mac arrive to talk with Emma and Felicia, and reveal how Anna escaped and made it to the border, but she was now in the custody of the French authorities and they are transferring her to a long term mental illness facility, which freaks out Emma just as Gio arrives. Emma runs into his arms. Laura says at this point, Anna needs a strong advocate and she will make a call on her behalf. (But to who?)

At the Metro Court pool, Curtis (Donnell Turner) is arrested by Detective Joe Fitzpatrick (Jonathan Bennett) after throwing a punch at Isaiah (Sawandi Wilson). Joe takes Curtis to the station where Dante (Dominic Zamprogna) tells Fitzgerald to remove Curtis’ handcuffs. Now inside the interrogation room, Curtis explains that he believes Isaiah left he and Jordan (Tanisha Harper) dead at the side of the road the night of the accident and provoked him.

BROKEN HAND, BROKEN MAN

Curtis just wants to put it all behind him and says he will pay for Isaiah’s medical bills, but Dante informs him, he is trouble and he needs to call a lawyer. So, he calls Jordan. Meanwhile, Isaiah gets looked at while at General Hospital, and his hand is messed up. He comes to learn he will need multiple surgeries not only for broken bones but two tendons were severed in the process. Isaiah realizes his surgical days are numbered possibility forever, if not for a very long time.

JOSSLYN FINDS ANNA’S MESSAGE

While being held hostage, Josslyn (Eden McCoy) tries again to convince Cassius (Ryan Paevey) to set her free. That leads into the two playing cards and Cassius asking Josslyn how she got into the WSB. Josslyn admits her boyfriend was murdered and she killed the person who was the culprit for retribution. She says she put together all the pieces that he did the crime, and now this line of work gives her purpose.

In the shocking final moments, after Cassius leaves for the night, Josslyn heads to the cot in the other part of the holding room and sees a hand-carved message on the wall from Anna that she was there and help captive on October 31, 2025.  We fade to black.

So what did you think of the concern Emma showed for Anna, and the performance of Braedyn Bruner? What are your very initial impressions of Jonathan Bennett as Joe Fitzgerald? Which character is annoying you more in the story …  Curtis, Jordan, Portia or Isaiah? Weigh-in via the comment section.

GENERAL HOSPITAL SPOILERS

Nina (Cynthia Watros) is getting all jittery again, as it appears she has gone back into Jack Brennan’s (Chris McKenna) hospital room and is ready to inject him with another secret dose of the medication to keep him in a paralytic state, after she accidentally jabbed him during his brawl with Valentin (James Patrick Stuart). Well, in an additional newly released clip featuring Bennett in his debut episode on Monday, it’s clear that Detective Fitzpatrick is looking into Curtis (Donnell Turner) and Isaiah’s (Sawandi Wilson) altercation at the Metro Court Pool when he says, “What are the chances Ashford talks his way out of an arrest? ‘General Hospital’s’ Finn Carr and Dominic Zamprogna Deliver the ‘Power Performances of the Week’

Published

on

By

The on-screen father/son combo of General Hospital’s Dante and Rocco Falconeri as portrayed by Dominic Zamprogna and Finn Carr were part of high emotional stakes scenes on episodes airing May 11-15.

First, Finn Carr’s Rocco is so guilt-ridden and burdened with the secret that he shot WSB director, Ross Cullum that it’s eating him alive. So much so, that he gets into a heated argument with Charlotte (Bluesy Burke) and Danny (Asher Antonyzyn). Rocco feels so badly that Danny’s father was taken from him for parts unknown by the WSB, all because Jason refused to implicate Rocco as the shooter.

In a heartbreaking scene, Rocco shows up at Britt’s door and lets her know he can’t take it anymore and that the secret he is keeping is tearing him apart. The fear is palpable in Rocco’s eyes. Britt calls Rocco a hero for saving her life and Jason’s and he has to remember that. Britt hugs him and promises that he can come talk to her anytime. In that moment, Rocco felt seen and felt safe.

ROCCO ON THE EDGE

All of the beats mentioned above were played with depth and acting maturity by Finn Carr; that it is so very clear why the writers and the producers are so comfortable giving him the ball in this umbrella story. He steps up to the plate every time and hits it out of the park.

Rocco also overheard his parents fighting over him after Dante figured out that Rocco was responsible for the shooting, and confronted Lulu (Alexa Havins) for withholding the truth from him. As their argument escalated and their relationship was further threatened by the lies, Rocco listened to the whole thing from the outside porch.

Eventually Dante, who had learned the truth by having Elizabeth (Rebecca Herbst) help him piece together what happened the night Cullum was shot, has a heart to heart with his son. He asks Rocco to tell him in his own words the events that transpired, and promises Rocco, that even though he is the police commissioner, he is going to help him. Rocco goes step by step over how Cullum was about to strike Jason with a weighted-baton and how the gun was loose on the ground and he shot him. Dante says his actions saved Jason and Britt’s life, and that he is going to help his son from here on out. He just wished everyone had come to him sooner, because as the father it’s his job to protect his son, not the other way around.

DANTE COMES TO TERMS

Still later in the week, Dante is visited by Elizabeth, and they discuss how they are going to cover-up any evidence that Rocco was at the hospital the night of the shooting with a hand injury, and that Dante is going to make sure the evidence against Rocco disappears. Something that is a huge disconnect for anyone that knows what a fine and upstanding cop Dante has been through the years, but he is determined to help his son stay safe and to keep him close.

However, Cullum is on the hunt for said evidence, and thinks Danny may have shot him in the back (or does he … and he knows Rocco shot him?). He visits Dante’s office and wants the evidence in the shooting. Meanwhile, bets are we are a few story beats away from Danny learning Rocco shot Cullum.

Throughout all the material given to Finn Carr and Dominic Zamprogna they rose to the occasion. Finn, getting the opportunity to play the often uptight Rocco on the edge, and Dominic, showing us how he can make us feel what Dante is feeling just by watching the emotion and hurt in his eyes. Therefore, Michael Fairman TV names Finn Carr and Dominic Zamprogna our picks for the Power Performances of the Week.

Now below, let us know if you agree with our picks of Finn and Dominic as the standout performances of the week, and if so, what moment really tugged on your heartstrings featuring Rocco and/or Dante via the comment section.
