GENERAL HOSPITAL: Is Sonny About to Be Framed for Natalia’s Murder?

If the final moment of Friday’s June 27th episode of General Hospital are any indication, things are looking very bleak for Natalia Rogers-Ramirez (Eva LaRue), who has become even more of one of t most disdainful characters on the canvas of late.

Natalia has demonstrated her bigotry towards her gay son, Marco (Adrian Anchondo) and her gay daughter, Alison aka Blaze, and she was secretly formerly married to a very bad man in Jenz Sidwell (Carlo Rota). Recently, she basically blackmailed Sonny (Maurice Benard) about ADA Turner (Nazneen Contractor) wanting her to tattle on the mobster, and we know see she’s a drinker, who has two DUI’s on her record. All this, is not boding well for the character sticking around.

In recent scenes, Sidwell would not lift a finger to help his ex-wife after her argument with their son, Marco, and viewers know he wants to bring Sonny down! What better way than to have her killed and put the blame on Sonny! To that point on Friday’s episode, while Natalia was throwing back drinks, Brook Lynn (Amanda Setton) shows up at her hotel room at the Metro Court.

Natalia warns her that Deception is in danger. Natalia says she tracked down a clerical error in Sonny’s funds, and how one of his investments doesn’t look clean and above board. She gives advice to Brook Lynn, that if she can get Sonny to divest his interest in the company, it might not ever come out. At that moment, Brook Lynn realizes something is off with Natalia.

Meanwhile, ADA Turner shows up to Sonny’s with a box as a gift that has a baseball glove in it. She thinks he sent to her and she can’t accept bribes. They trade barbs. Later, while at the church for Daisy’s christening, Sonny tells Jason (Steve Burton) about his visit from Turner, and so he is changing plans. He is sending Paul to pick up Natalia.

At her room, Natalia is looking at photos of Belize when there is a knock at the door and it’s Paul. He tells her there has been a change of plans, and she is leaving for Belize now, not tonight. She says she wants to wait for Sonny, and if he needs to take a red-eye, she can do that. Paul lowers the boom and says Sonny isn’t joining her. She’s going alone because Sonny is at his granddaughter’s christening.

Natalia is blindsided as she thought Sonny was coming with her, but Paul admits that was never the plan. Natalia tells Paul she needs an hour to pack, so he says he’ll be back for her. Now by herself, Natalia breaks down as she realizes she is cornered. Sonny isn’t coming with her, and she has no future of a new life. She calls Sonny a bastard for abandoning her and wanting her gone.

Acting swiftly, Natalia grabs her purse and goes to the door to make sure Paul isn’t there and she makes an exit. Back at the christening, Brook Lynn tells Chase (Josh Swickard) that Natalia just told her that Sonny’s second investment in Deception wasn’t clean. Chase stops her, because he cannot talk about this due to his conflict of interest with the PCPD.

At Anna’s (Finola Hughes) office, Turner is called in immediately, because Anna is on to the fact that Turner has been running an investigation through her office without her knowledge. Turner says the reason is, because when it comes to Sonny, Anna cannot be objective. Anna tells her to take her issues to the Internal Affairs division.

As the episode comes to a conclusion, and just as Daisy’s christening is about to start, Natalia shows up and plants herself in the back pew of the church. Sonny glares at her. Taking this one step further, GH spoilers for next week indicate that on the Tuesday, July 1st episode share, Anna and Chase rush to the scene of a crime. Will it be Natalia’s dead body?

So, what do you think will go down? Will Jenz Sidwell murder his ex-wife Natalia and frame Sonny for it? How do you think Eva LaRue might make an exit? Disappear, be killed, or neither? Weigh-in via the comment section below.

For Natalia, as the old saying goes – don’t go away mad, just go away.

Would serve Sonny right to face prison time for a murder he didn’t commit, while he never paid the consequences for Jagger’s cold-blooded killing.

If Jenz does kill Natalia – let’s see it on screen to show he’s not just a mustache twirling villain.

I got the impression Natalia was playing everyone against each other.. She appeared to “claim” loyalty to Sonny, Sidwell, the DA, and Marco. Then how she told Brooklyn that Sonny’s investment was dirty money.. so I now hope we do see Natalia’s demise.. much like John Cates.. shot dead and gone and not a soul cares.

If I didn’t know better, I’d think that Jill Farren Phelps was writing the send off for Natalia. It has her certain, ahem, flair.

Jill never hired women over 39 so Eva wouldn’t have been cast. She kept Jane around because she needed someone to play off of TG.

I guess what I’m talking about is JFP’s propensity to send actresses she didn’t care for packing with a side order of humiliation. For example, shortly after JFK arrived as EP of Y&R, the character Genie Francis was playing, Genevieve, suddenly was confronted with one humiliation after another and then she was just written off with no fan fare. I mean, it was wince inducing to watch for us Genie Francis fans. Anyway, while I’m just kidding, kind of, that same pattern of humiliating the character/ actress before killing them off seems to be replicating itself with Eva La Rue’s Natalia. Suddenly she is Alex from Fatal Attraction saying,” I’m not going to be ignored, Sonny?”

Ah, I get what you’re going for. JFP did that a few times on GH as well – notably to Genie again – with the horrid retcon of Rick Webber followed by Laura’s catatonic years.

Exactly. JFP tended to escort out the actresses she didn’t favor with gross indignities. I forgot Genie Francis’s 2 characters under JFP suffered a less than graceful exit two times! Natalia, suddenly suffering from grand illusions in thinking Sonny was going to run away with her and live happily ever in paradise, was completely delusional especially considering they haven’t exchanged so much as a kiss or romantic murmurings. And now it looks like her death is the result of suicide, not homicide as predicted leaving both Sonny and Marco to wallow in guilt.

Do you think they’ll pitch it as a suicide or was it an accidental overdose? Yes, she was depressed, but she was still (slowly) packing. Either way, it’s a sad ending that we haven’t really seen in soaps in a long time.

If she had just taken one dose of pills and washed them down with booze, it could have been an accident. But she went back to that pill bottle two or three times after that. Hard to interpret that as anything other than intentional.

They kill her off, but leave Drew??

Yeah, when I told Frank Valentini I would be willing to send Britt back up as long as I got a soul in return, Natalia was NOT who I was expecting to come down right away.

I mean everybody in Port Charles would really rather see Hallmark Drew headed this direction, am I right??

You are so right!!

Right with you Lew S. Natalia is a useless, whining annoyance who needs to go to prison for her repeated DUI episodes. Drew is a destructive, poisonous snake that spews his venom all over town. It would be a lot more beneficial to immediately rid the world of the poisonous snake. And, I nominate Willow to do the honors since she is the most contaminated by him.

Personally, I’d like to see Wiley be the one to pull the trigger on “Uncle” Drew! What do you think, Satan?

While it might be amusing to see, I really wouldn’t want to put all that on a kid. I mean Joss is in her early 20s, and I think it’s 666% unrealistic that she’s NOT having serious mental “side effects” from taking out Cyrus the Virus, even though she was completely justified in doing so.

Definitely wouldn’t want to see Wiley traumatized for life because he sent “Uncle Drew” to Hell.

I agree that we don’t need to see Wiley traumatized, but attempting to off his not-so-great uncle would be following in his dad’s footsteps – when young Michael was shown attempting to suffocate AJ with a pillow. Luckily they realized it’s not a good look for a soap to have children kill.

Oh, I am right with you! The only problem would be Nina taking the fall for Willow, because she has to protect her daughter! Give me a break!

Oh I would love Nina to take the fall for Willow in a Mildred Pierce kind of move. Not only would it absolve her in Willow’s eyes for sleeping with Drew, it would deliver a terrific character driven, classic, soapy storyline. Let’s serve up Nina with a side of fried chicken and waffles( now if you have not seen Mildred Pierce starring Joan Crawford, you will have no idea what I’m talking about).

I know exactly what your talking about and it would be a hoot! M Mildred Pierce is a classic!

All you “let’s kill Drew” are sooooo short sided. Not every “annoying” person should be murdered. These characters create drama on these shows referred to as daytime, oh what is the word? Oh yeah, dramas.

Yes. I pretty much agree. I love hating Drew and his cheery, Pat Boone demeanor makes his villainous behavior kind of enjoyable.

Drew is more than just annoying. He has been turned into a villain. Annoying is Amy, Lucy and sometimes Cody. They have moments where the can drive you over the edge. Annoying isn’t someone purposely saying something that could hurt a child (Wiley). That is pure mean-spirited and evil.

Neither. I want Eva to stay

WHY?

Eva LaRue did what she could with an unsympathetic, worthless character, but it’s time to say goodbye. Drew will get what’s coming to him, but not yet.

Why would Sonny be guilty for Natalia’s death? He didn’t kill her. Anna even said, that it looked like an accidental suicide (or intentional suicide?)

‘General Hospital’s’ Steve Burton Shares Reaction to His Lead Actor Daytime Emmy Nomination, ‘It Was to Honor Leslie Charleson’

The 53rd Annual Daytime Emmy Award nominations kicked-off on Monday with the announcements of four major categories including, Outstanding Lead Performer in a Daytime Drama Series — Actor, and among the nominees is General Hospital’s Steve Burton (Jason Morgan).

Burton is already a two-time Daytime Emmy winner in the Supporting Actor category for his roles as GH’s Jason and his turn as Dylan McAvoy on Y&R. However, Steve is yet to win in the Lead Actor category and he has received 11 nominations along the way in his daytime career.

Following the reveal that he is a 2026 Daytime Emmy nominee, he and his GH co-star, podcast co-host and comedy show partner, Bradford Anderson (Spinelli) taped a special edition of their That’s Awesome podcast just featuring Burton’s reaction to the news.

FOR LESLIE CHARLESON

Steve expressed, “I know it’s such a cliche to say, ‘I’m just so honored to be nominated.’ But truly, I’m so grateful to be nominated, so grateful to just be on the show off and on for 30 plus years and to be nominated with the guys in my category. Just to get the opportunity. Frank (Valentini, executive producer, GH) texted me right away. I was just like, ‘Thank you for the opportunity to get to do what I do.'”

Taking in the moment, Burton thanked those who helped him select the material for his nominated reel. “Unless you win, you don’t get to say things. So. I’m going just say a few things: Elizabeth Korte (co-head writer, GH) helped me a lot with the material, (as did) Michelle Henry, who’s a producer on the show, Laura Wright (Carly, GH), and then my wife Michelle (Lundstrom). I believe it was Jill Phelps who told me that when A Martinez felt like he had a great show or great scenes, he would mark it down. So, when Emmy time comes, you have all the show numbers written down, and you don’t have to think about it, because that’s half the battle (finding the material).

Burton explained how meaningful this nomination is for him, because of playing the scenes of Jason losing Monica, and his closeness with the late, great Leslie Charleson.

“The nomination’s an amazing thing, and it’s beautiful, but really it’s to honor Leslie Charleson. A lot of my material was because of her, and how I started on the show as a Quartermaine, it just means a ton,” shared Burton. “Maurice Benard (Sonny, GH) has obviously has been instrumental, and I’ve said it from day one and I’ll shout it from the rooftops. If it wasn’t for him, I wouldn’t be here, and to be working with the people that we work with is incredible.”

SHOULD JOHN OLIVER BE NAMED HOST OF THE DAYTIME EMMYS?

During the end of his conversation with Anderson, Steve suggested that the host of the Daytime Emmy should be Last Week Tonight’s John Oliver, who recently guest starred as the head of the WSB named Z on General Hospital, and is soon to show up on Days of Our Lives in a mystery role in August.

Thus far, the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences has not revealed their host for the upcoming ceremony to be held on October 30 in a venue to be named in Hollywood, California.

You can watch Steve sharing his reaction to receiving his 2026 Lead Actor Daytime Emmy nomination below on a special segment on the That’s Awesome podcast.

Now let us know, are you glad that Steve chose scenes surrounding Jason mourning the loss of the woman that raised him, Monica Quartermaine for his Emmy reel? What do you think of John Oliver as a suggestion to host the Daytime Emmys? Weigh-in via the comment section below.

GENERAL HOSPITAL: Jason Reconnects with Danny; Tristan Roberts Arrives in Port Charles, Lots of Nods to #16

General Hospital’s 16,000th episode was packed with little reminders through points in today’s script that the ABC daytime drama series has set another milestone and it paved the way for the return of fan favorite and newly nominated Daytime Emmy Lead Actor nominee Steve Burton (Jason Morgan). The 16,000th episode also introduced viewers to the new surgeon in Port Charles Dr. Tristan Roberts played by Dean Geyer.

Here are the key takeaways and what went down on the July 13 episode: Tristan and Jason are seated next to each other on a plane heading to Port Charles. Throughout the flight, a beaten up Jason has flashbacks to being thrown into, and being held captive in a cell and tortured. It appears Jason is suffering from some form of PTSD from what he was put through after being dragged out of Port Charles by the WSB months ago.

As the plane prepares to land, Tristan tells Jason there would be a car waiting for him once they land and to enjoy the rest of his life. Later, Tristan arrives at the nurses and doctors hub at GH and approaches Elizabeth (Rebecca Herbst). He tells her his name and that he is the new surgeon on staff.

A REUNION PLUS A HEAD NURSE DEFENDS SONNY

Meanwhile, at the end of the episode, Jason is outside the Quartermaine boathouse looking bewildered when he runs into Danny (Asher Antonyzyn), who is so thrilled to see his father, and the two hugs each other as tears are shed.

Elsewhere, Elizabeth tells Sonny (Maurice Benard) that he thinks its a great idea for him to get the 16th seat on the hospital board, but when it comes times to convince Tracy Quartermaine (Jane Elliot) of that, things go awry when Tracy, Laura and Sonny try to work things out. After Tracy launches into Sonny about killing Alan and Monica’s son AJ, Sonny walks away dejected.

Next, Sonny runs into Elizabeth, where he informs her what happened with Tracy. So what’s a head nurse to do? Elizabeth marches into the conference room and reminds Tracy of all the different donations and ways Sonny has contributed to the hospital from the Stone Cates AIDS wing, to the Michael Corinthos Center for Pediatric Head Injuries as well as his constant support each year for the GH Nurses’ Ball.

WSB WAR SCARS

Then, in one of the best parts for longtime fans of the series, Elizabeth talks about her legendary grandparents, Audrey and Steve Hardy and she tells Tracy they would have wanted Sonny to have a seat on the board for all the good that he has done for the hospital. After Elizabeth states Sonny’s case, things took a turn and Tracy and Sonny wound up shaking hands as Sonny is board member #16.

In the how great was it to see Anna (Finola Hughes) and Valentin (James Patrick Stuart) together scenes department, the pick-up of last Friday’s cliffhanger is played out as the two former lovers fill each other in on what has gone down in their lives in the last several months including Valentin admitting he had been living in Carly’s attic, and Anna realizing she was kidnapped by Cullum, Sidwell and Cassius Faison. During their conversation, Anna sees the hallucination of Peter August (Wes Ramsey) right while Valentin is standing there.

Later Anna was on her way to saying goodbye to Valentin, when the two share an emotional hug. After Valentin made his exit, Peter reappeared and warned Anna to not let Valentin distract her because she has important work to do. Anna answers, “I know.”

So, what did you think of General Hospital’s 16,000 episode? What do you think is wrong with Jason? What is the important “work” that Anna has to do? Were you glad to see Sonny get a seat on the hospital board, or not so much. Weigh-in via the comment section. But first, check out the scenes on Jason and Tristan’s long flight to Port Charles.
