GENERAL HOSPITAL: Kristina is Accepted into Medical School Paving Way for Kate Mansi’s Exit; What Do You Think of How She’s Being Written-Off?
As promised by General Hospital on Tuesday May 26 episode provided the reason why Kristina Corinthos-Davis will be leaving Port Charles next month in order to accommodate Daytime Emmy winner Kate Mansi’s decision to exit the soap opera.
After telling Mansi told former Soap Opera Digest Editorial Stephanie Sloane in her newsletter that, “Now, it feels like the right time for both Kristina and me to step into new adventures,” that couldn’t have been prove more true, when Kristina’s life and story took a sharp turn out of nowhere.
During a conversation on today’s GH, Kristina is talking with her sister Molly (Kristen Vaganos) about Danny (Asher Antonyzyn) outside of Bobbie’s when suddenly Kristina gets a message notification on her phone. Next, Kristina underplayed the information, she received when she looked at the notification and announced, “I took a long shot, and just got accepted into medical school!”

Molly looks stunned, Kristina seemed like someone who just thought she would randomly throw her hat into the ring and see if it happens, as if wasn’t such a big deal, or maybe she is just underplaying her reaction for now. Certainly, for those who have applied to medical school, and have always wanted to be a doctor, this would be the most awesome news.
As to why all of a sudden the GH writers came up with this angle for Kristina’s exit story has yet to be explained on-screen with this being such a major career decision shift when Kristina just reopened Charlie’s. More is said to be revealed on tomorrow’s Wednesday, May 28 episode.
MEDICAL SCHOOL AS A VEHICLE TO WRITE OUT A SOAP CHARACTER
The move to have Kristina Corinthos-Davis become a doctor does give the show the leeway to bring back Kate Mansi a few years down the line with a new occupation and purpose if she ever wants to return to the show since GH executive producer Frank Valentini said in a statement that the “door is always open” for Kate to return. And as we also learned, there are no plans to recast the role at this time.
Kristina doesn’t have the greatest track record with academia having been expelled back in the fall of 2015 from Wesleyan, where she had been studying prelaw. That story eventually revealed itself where Kristina got suspended after offering to have sex with one of her professors in exchange for a better grade. The professor turned out to be Parker Forsyth played by Ashley Jones, and the two eventually were in a complicated relationship before breaking up.
Soap fans have always been tasked with suspending belief when certain reasons are written to precipitate characters exits when the audience already knows that the actor had decided to leave the show or needs a maternity leave, for example. Sometimes it makes some sense for the character and other times, it does not.

Such a random, left-field reason for Kristina to leave the canvas. Hilarious. But whatever works for ushering out Kate Mansi.
I hoped that Kristina and Blaze would reconnect. Since that doesn’t appear to be the case, Kristina is a smart young woman and I’m glad she has reached a more goal directed point in her life.
Not to be hash, but I’ve never seen one instance of Kristina demonstrating that she is even remotely intelligent. Believing that she was accepted into Med school, is akin to believing that Melania Trump really deserved that Einstein Visa.
Exactly.
Suspension of disbelief be damn. The idea of a college drop-out slacker, who never studied pre-med, suddenly being accepted into med school is just lazy and horribly, plot driven writing. Kristina has never once indicated she was interested in pursuing a career in medicine is insanely stupid.
Wouldn’t it be more believable if Kristina decided she wanted to be an Olympic high diver? She has natural talent. The Romanian judge gave her a 9.2 on her fall into the MC pool.

Being a chronic mess-up is part of Kristina’s core character. Medical school? I wouldn’t let her put a band-aid on me. I’d somewhat be okay with her being a psychologist as therapy has been a fall-back career for many.
Career switches on soaps are common, but they should be plausible (i.e. Felicia going from PI to bar owner to patient advocate). But then there’s unqualified CEOs in Michael and Curtis or Laura – elected to two terms as mayor despite spending 5 years in a catatonic state.
Kristina as a doctor? What’s next? Lucy as a chemist? Liesl as a preschool teacher?
Many people are chronic mess-ups with a lack of direction in when they are young. Luckily, some of the gain direction and life purpose as they mature. Her relationship with Blaze, losing the baby, losing Sam, taking over Charlie’s, the fire and rebuilding Charlie’s may had that effect of Kristina. Kristina is not a dumb bell and modern medical school want students for all walks of life. There are programs where you earn your undergraduate degree and your medical degree at the same time. Plus, this will give Kristina a chance to stand on her own two feet with Alexis and/or Sonny as immediate safety nets.
I always appreciate your comments. I will, however, beg to differ with you here. Kristina still refers to the baby as “Adela” and has yet to take complete responsibility for cutting Ric’s brakes or her part in holding him captive.
It’s okay to have characters that maintain a bit of “screwy-ness”. On OLTL, Tina remained a bit off, Todd never really matured and Roxie, lovably, remained Roxie.
I would love to see Irene Kristen back on GH as Ava’s mother.
You know, we’ve watched through Casey the alien, a weather machine to control the world’s weather, COUNTLESS return from the dead stories…it’s not hard to believe Krissi got a wild hair and decided medical school would be a good fit. Really. It’s not a bad fit and it gives leeway if Kate wants to come back@ I’ve seen WAY WORSE STORIES ON THIS SOAP!! I’m in it for the long haul!

Difference being we didn’t know Casey the Alien. He just plopped into 10 year old Robin Scorpio’s garage. We had not invested in this character anymore than we invested in Mikkos Cassadine who tried to freeze Port Charles. What some of you are struggling with is distinguishing between fantastical characters and realistic characters. What I am talking about is character driven stories vs plot driven stories. We’ve known Kristina since she was a baby. Her suddenly taking an explicable turn that has not been backed up by a pattern of behavior or any history, is the WORST example of plot driven writing that I can think of. I’m sorry to belabor this but frankly, bad writing pisses me off.
Send Molly too please.
I don’t understand the medical thing? They could have sent her back to school for literally ANYTHING else. Maybe social work or psychology to help at the Corinthos-Davis center?
Bridget Forrester on B&B went from being designer to doctor in the blink of an eye. I agree for Kristina to be accepted into med school our of the blue is silly but this is GH where people come back to life time after time, mobsters go unpunished, and silly spy stories flourish. For a show whose central core is a hospital, this makes some bit of sense.
I don’t even remember her going to college so this is a big stretch. I know we’re supposed to suspend disbelief, but this is a bit ridiculous.
She went to college long enough to fall in love with a professor who was old enough to be her mother. I don’t remember what her studies were at the time, but it definitely wasn’t pre-med.
Oh right, that’s when she came out to her family.
The current writers keep going so far left of the history of this show and these characters it’s beyond ridiculous. This is just the latest in something coming out of nowhere. And not even bothering to address Kristina got nowhere close to finishing college. If they’re going to do it at least throw in a few lines about how it’s possible. And Wednesday’s episode doesn’t cut it. And at the very least have her studying psychology-that’s the only thing that makes any sense with Kristina’s background.
This is really out there! It doesn’t make sense, Kristina has not finished or been in college which she would have to be to be accepted to Med School. I know it’s a soap but viewers pay attention and don’t like when there no continuity. Marco just died, I could totally see her contacting Blaze and them giving their relationship another try. That would be reasonable and welcome with an easy exit and return.
I know, right? Maybe on a different soap, this wouldn’t irk me. But this soap literally has Hospital in its title.
Wow! Just when I think that some of these story lines couldn’t get any worse. Med school? For a non college graduate?
I didn’t know she finished college.
She didn’t. She dropped out after Professor Parker broke her heart.
She was in college for one semester before she dropped out and went away with her college professor Parker.
Are you kidding me what a stupid idea to let her leave.
I’m guessing that the learning institution that grants Krissie her medical license is the same one that awarded super-spy Robert Scorpio his law degree!
They actually mentioned UCLA. When I last checked, it’s still a top institution that doesn’t admit people who never got an undergraduate degree to their medical school.
Maybe “PARKER!” sent a letter of recommendation.
Or maybe Sonny called in a favor, considering UCLA’s hospital had some really big security holes when he had his heart procedure there a few months back, and almost got taken out by a hit person disguised as a nurse.
I would say they owe him one for not suing over that.
I’ve read that Mansi has directed some clips on GH and wants to further her career in that area. Frank Valentini has allowed her freedom in that and im glad he’s left the door open. Will Ethan then take over running Charlie’s Pub? If not him, then who?
I love that direction for Kristina. It is a happy ending and she can always come back. Thanks to the writers for not killing. Her off

Scheduled to present from the current soaps are: Katelyn MacMullen (Willow, General Hospital), Delon de Metz (Zende, The Bold and the Beautiful), James Preston (Nick, The Bay), Paul Telfer (Xander, Days of our Lives), Tamara Tunie (Anita, Beyond the Gates) and Susan Walters (Diane, The Young and the Restless).

In addition soap alums, Crystal Chappell, Lesli Kay, Joe Lando, Eva LaRue, who is also a nominee this year, A Martinez, Juliet Mills, and Alicia Leigh Willis, will also be on hand to present.

Matthew Hoffman (Love Island USA, Cheap A$$ Beach Houses) will serve as the ceremony’s Voice of God, bringing his signature comedic narration to the evening’s celebrations. As previously announced, Lifetime Achievement honoree Genie Francis (Laura, General Hospital) will be presented with the Lifetime Achievement Award by her husband, Jonathan Frakes.

General Hospital fans took to social media following the airing of the Wednesday, October 21 episode of the ABC daytime drama series. In story, Molly (Kristen Vaganos) reveals to Alexis (Nancy Lee Grahn) that she has received an offer to join the top law firm in Chicago that practices civil law. She says it’s her dream job.
The problem Molly says is relocating from Port Charles and uprooting her life and being away from her mother, Scout and boyfriend Cody Bell (Josh Kelly). Wistful that she may lose another daughter to a long-distance situation (Kristina left a few months back to go to medical school in California), Alexis urged Molly to get Cody to go with her.
Molly still seemed concerned and has trouble committing to the idea. Alexis tells her to talk it over with Cody. Meanwhile, Cody asked Tracy (Jane Elliot) is he can have Thanksgiving off because he and Molly planned to spend Thanksgiving together with their families. After initially balking, Tracy agrees.

WILL MOLLY AND CODY HEAD TO CHI-TOWN?
Later, Cody shows up at Miller & Davis and the conversation turned to Thanksgiving dinner that Alexis is hosting. Molly and Cody asked her not to cook anything. Cody hugged Molly reassuring Alexis that he and Molly would take care of whatever was needed on Turkey Day.
So, this raises the question, why out of nowhere are we learning that Molly received an amazing law offer in Chicago, if the character was not being written out? If Molly leaves the canvas, would the character of Cody make his exit too?
Kristen Vaganos joined GH as a recast Molly Lansing-Davis back in September of 2023 and went on contract in August of 2024. Josh Kelly began playing Cody Bell back in June of 2022. Initial reports were that Kelly joined the show on contract and then as of June 2025 went on recurring status with the show per his choice.

It’s been over two-years since his last appearance on General Hospital, now fan favorite Kin Shriner (Scott Baldwin) has taken to social media to share his thoughts on the casting of his grown-up TV daughter, Serena Baldwin now played by Kelly Kruger.
Kelly took over the role of Serena on-screen starting with the July 30, 2026 episode and has been ensconced in the storyline with her mother, Lucy Coe (Lynn Herring), in trying to win back full creative control of Deception for her.
In fact on the Monday, October 19 episode of the ABC soap opera, Serena tried to dupe Jason Morgan (Steve Burton) into signing over Michael’s (Rory Gibson) shares of the company. Jason caught on and wondered why she was doing this. She claimed she just wanted to help her mom gain creative control from Tracy (Jane Elliot) rather than full ownership, and begged Jason to keep quiet about it, which he agreed to for now.

WHERE IS SCOTT?
On Monday, Shriner also took to X and said, “I think Kelly Kruger is doing a great job on General Hospital, and she and Lynn Herring work well together.” That was followed by comments in his thread about the show needing to bring back Scott too.
In fact, back on August 25, Shriner also took to X with a reminder that Scott is still around and ready to come back to Port Charles, sharing, “Scotty Baldwin always fits in he just needs the right sport coat !!!!”
The last time Serena mentioned her father Scott was when Kruger made her debut and informed Lucy that her father was, “living his best life in Key West.” Meanwhile, Shriner posts on his X account continually and shared back on August 2, that it has been 49 years since he made his on-screen debut as then teenaged, Scotty Baldwin and thanked the fans for al the love and support.
