GENERAL HOSPITAL: “I Leave it All to the Cherished Sister of My Heart … Ms. Veronica Bard”

Now that’s a cliffhanger combined with the priceless reactions from two of the greatest of all-time, Erika Slezak and Jane Elliot as Veronica “Ronnie” Bard and Tracy Quartermaine! Seems like the late Monica Quartermaine had several surprises in her will as read by legal eagle Alexis Davis (Nancy Lee Grahn) to the Q family on the Monday, October 6 episode of General Hospital.

However, the bombshell revelations of who gets “Monica’s house” leaves the will suspect if it’s actually a forged one or something else is at play here. Let’s take a look at what went down.

Ronnie shows up at the Quartermaine mansion leaving Ned (Wally Kurth), Olivia (Lisa LoCicero), Brook Lynn (Amanda Setton) and Michael (Rory Gibson) puzzled, especially when she introduced herself as Monica’s younger sister. While everyone thinks the timing of her appearance at Monica’s house is questionable, when she didn’t show up for her sister’s memorial. Ronnie says she wasn’t invited to the funeral but she went to pay her respects to her sister inside the Quartermaine crypt when Tracy kicked her out.

Everyone asks how she knew about the will reading? Ronnie says she got a call from the Miller/Davis law firm to join them at the reading. Sitting down with the family, Ronnie explains how she and Monica grew apart after growing up in foster care. However, Ronnie says she received a letter from Monica recently and the two communicated back and forth, up until she died.

Brook Lynn shares that Monica never told anyone in the family about her. Ronnie says that Monica wrote to her about how proud she was of all of them, as she proceeded to know about Olivia and Ned, Brook Lynn and Michael. Just then, Tracy arrives home and is annoyed that Ronnie is at the will reading and the women’s hatred for each other is visible. Suddenly, Alexis arrives.

As Alexis reads the will, she begins with: the grandchildren and great grandchildren get trust funds, Brook Lynn gets Monica’s pearl necklace, Ned gets her vinyl collection and Olivia gets the gourmet cookware.

Next, Ronnie gets small envelope which contains a necklace with a photo of her and Monica as children before the sisters got separated. Tracy gets a box and when she opens it, she is stunned that its a jar of Pickle Lila relish. The same thing she received at her father’s will reading! Tracy thinks this all must be a joke. Just then, Jason arrives. Alexis tells Jason that Monica wants him to have Alan’s watch to make up for all the lost time they could have had together.

When it comes to Michael, as he was expecting to be bequeathed the house, instead he gets the horses and the family yacht. Finally, as Alexis gets to the nitty gritty of who gets the house and all the property, she says, “I leave it all to the cherished sister of my heart … Ms. Veronica Bard.” The moment leaves Ronnie stunned, and Tracy dumbfounded.

The episode reminded us of how we missed seeing Erika Slezak on our screens for the last several years.  A great actress, indeed, and having her feud in scenes with the likes of Jane Elliot, is pure genius!

The questions remain: is Ronnie actually Monica’s sister, or a complete phony and an imposter? Did Martin change the will to get back at Tracy and is he in a plan with Ronnie? Share your thoughts via the comment section below.

Is Monica punking Tracy beyond the grave Ronnie is in on it?

Erika is so wonderful. I love the new Michael!

agreed and agreed.

Nobody is really going to fall for this dragonshit, are they?

The will is definitely fake. Probably the “sister” is too.

Colonel Sanders Marty is obviously in on it. Not sure if Dragon Chow Drew is or not?

Martin had to forge the will. How did he know that Drew wasn’t mentioned?

Erika Slezak hasn’t missed a beat. Ronnie’s agitation when Tracy started comparing her to a stray dog was perfect.

Lord, please don’t let this be the start of Pickle Lila 3. The last version was cringe-full.

Monica didn’t leave any special donation to the hospital?

As much as I am loving Erika Slezak on GH, it does make me miss OLTL more.

did Monica leave her money too? because there’s no way Ronnie can keep this house and live in it, she won’t be able to afford the basic maintenance so she would have to sell which I’m sure the Q’s can afford to buy.

This storyline leaves me with all kinds of questions. I can’t wait to see what’s revealed. Ultimately, I think the house and all will be restored to the Q’s, but the in between part will be interesting to watch.

Well we all know Erika Slezak has finished filming already so the will is a fake. Sister stuff probably fake too.

This is bs! Monica would never leave “her” house to that phony! And shame on Martin. Do the GH writers really think we are that stupid! I’ve watched gh since the early 70’s! No mention of a donation to the hospital. This is just junk writing on their part!!

Alexis skipped over the portions involving the household staff … she likely passed over hospital endowments as well.

Monica would have left the house to Jason or Michael. This is all a sham.

Ronnie is not Monica’s sister, it’s all a set of Martin because his getting back at Tracy.

If it’s Martin, I hope Laura learns about it and sets her brother straight. I like their sibling relationship and he respects her. He wouldn’t like Laura being disappointed in him. He wouldn’t like Stella being disappointed in him either. If it is Martin, I hope he comes to his senses and rights this wrong.

Vincent Pastore, best known for his memorable role as Salvatore “Big Pussy” Bonpensiero on HBO’s The Sopranos has passed away.

The veteran actor was found dead on August 1st in his home in the Bronx, New York. Pastore was 80-years-old. The cause of death is yet to be determined.

As well as his role on The Sopranos, many soap fans will recall he played multiple smaller roles on the beloved One Life to Live from 1995 and 2004. However, in 2008, he landed the short-term role as Maximus Giambetti on General Hospital.

PASTORE WANTED TO BE ON GENERAL HOSPITAL

Maximus was the mobster father of Sonny Corinthos’ (Maurice Benard) bodyguards: Max (Derk Cheetwood) and Milo (Drew Cheetwood)

According to Soap Opera Digest, Pastore told Soaps In Depth back in 2009, after appearing in a SOAPnet promotional campaign as a celebrity fan of General Hospital: “‘I’d love to be on the show. So they called up GH’s casting director (Mark Teschner) and Bobby (Robert Guza Jr. ex-head writer, GH) and they wrote me in!”

Pastore was a huge General Hospital fan from way back, who at one point told producers that he would watch the ABC soap opera while working in bars and nightclubs in the 70s and 80s.

Throughout his decades long career, Pastore appeared in films including: Goodfellas, Carlito’s Way and Men of Respect, The Jerky Boys: The Movie and the 1996 HBO TV movie Gotti.

In TV, besides The Sopranos, Pastore’s credits included: Law & Order, The Practice, Son of the Beach, Queens Supreme, Hawaii Five-0, Wu-Tang: An American Saga, plus the miniseries The Last Don II. Most recently, Vincent was a series regular on Gravesend and guest starred on Yellowjackets.

Pastore is survived by his daughter, Renee, son-in-law and granddaughter.
