On the Tuesday, September 23 episode of General Hospital, Nina (Cynthia Watros) learns shocking information from Anna. After coming to the police commissioner’s office, Anna (Finola Hughes) reveals that Nina’s brother, Nathan West (Ryan Paevey) appears to be alive and recovering from injuries sustained in a car accident.

Nina thinks, at first, this is impossible and implausible. However, Anna explains the patient’s fingerprints and more match Nathan’s. In addition, Anna thinks the timing of Britt Westbourne (Kelly Thiebaud) coming back to Port Charles alive, and now Nathan, can’t just be coincidental. Nina mentions it could only be the work of Cesar Faison, whose name sends chills down Anna’s spine.

At GH, Felicia (Kristina Wagner) is shocked to see her supposed former son-in-law alive in a hospital bed. She is shaken to her core and in tears, of how she will tell James (Gary James Fuller) that his dad is alive, or the fact that the only person who could truly identify him and knows him inside and out would be Maxie (Kirsten Storms), but she is laying in a coma many miles away.

As the episode comes to its conclusion, Nina comes to visit Nathan in his hospital room. At first, she looks at him very confused at what she is seeing, and then decides to pull up a chair and sit beside him, overcome with tears. She grabs her brother’s hand and he moves his fingers. Next thing you know, Nathan comes to and opens his eyes and looks at Nina, who in tears says, “J!”

Elsewhere, Jason (Steve Burton) is reeling from Monica’s death and he comes to the room at Bobbie’s that Britt is staying at. She is being all “Britch-y” until Jason explains the reason he came was to get a suit out of the closet. He has to attend a funeral. Britt jokes it must be one of the mobsters who he killed. Jason reveals it’s his mother, Monica who died.

Finally, backing off, Britt and Jason have a heart-to-heart where Jason’s grief is palpable. Britt says if he didn’t come to Dalmatia to rescue her, he would have been able to be in Port Charles with Monica during her last days on earth. Jason continues to miss his mom, and he struggles with regrets with her passing.

Meanwhile, Tracy (Jane Elliot) has gone missing, but after a family discussion, Lulu (Alexa Havins) think she knows where Tracy is. Next, Ned (Wally Kurth) makes a phone call to someone (Spinelli?) to go locate his mother and bring her back to the Q mansion.

Drew (Cameron Mathison) continues his rage against all who wronged him, even in the face of his mother Monica’s death. He wants Martin (Michael E. Knight) to make sure he gets what’s coming to him in regards to his proper inheritance in her will, even though the family wants nothing to do with him.

So, what did you think of the performance of Cynthia Watros and Steve Burton in this episode? Do you think when Nathan speaks to Nina, he will know who he is? Is he the real Nathan? How do you like Britt’s seeming reversal of attitude, and being more like the “Britch” of old, or do you wish she would show more signs of vulnerability? How do you think Monica’s will involving, Jason, Drew, Michael and Tracy and presumably Erika Slezak’s arrival later this week, may change the dynamic of the Quartermaine family? Interesting development that this appears to be Nathan who has no concept where 7 years have gone.

Both Cynthia Watros and Kristina Wagner really shined with their initial reactions. Gati will undoubtedly do the same. Now, Britt’s reaction will tell all. Is this some master scheme?

Speaking of Britt, there was very interesting news on Huntington’s deaese yesterday out of the UK.

Rumors that it is not Nathan are terrible. When are the writers going to consider the children. First the emotional abuse of Scout, now James. Get a heart writers !!!

It’s a soap opera…..

This week on all-new episodes of General Hospital, new and old motivations come into play with dangerous consequences. According to the just released GH video spoilers video for the week of August 3-7, a bailiff calls out, “All rise!”

Leading into this week, viewers know that Willow doesn’t want the former escort anywhere near her children, Amelia and Wiley. Is this how she stops her, or is Jacinda up to old tricks and wants to frame Willow? Remember when Jacindsa drugged Drew (Cameron Mathison)? Stay tuned.

Vincent Pastore, best known for his memorable role as Salvatore “Big Pussy” Bonpensiero on HBO’s The Sopranos has passed away.

The veteran actor was found dead on August 1st in his home in the Bronx, New York. Pastore was 80-years-old. The cause of death is yet to be determined.

As well as his role on The Sopranos, many soap fans will recall he played multiple smaller roles on the beloved One Life to Live from 1995 and 2004. However, in 2008, he landed the short-term role as Maximus Giambetti on General Hospital.

PASTORE WANTED TO BE ON GENERAL HOSPITAL

Maximus was the mobster father of Sonny Corinthos’ (Maurice Benard) bodyguards: Max (Derk Cheetwood) and Milo (Drew Cheetwood)

According to Soap Opera Digest, Pastore told Soaps In Depth back in 2009, after appearing in a SOAPnet promotional campaign as a celebrity fan of General Hospital: “‘I’d love to be on the show. So they called up GH’s casting director (Mark Teschner) and Bobby (Robert Guza Jr. ex-head writer, GH) and they wrote me in!”

Pastore was a huge General Hospital fan from way back, who at one point told producers that he would watch the ABC soap opera while working in bars and nightclubs in the 70s and 80s.

Throughout his decades long career, Pastore appeared in films including: Goodfellas, Carlito’s Way and Men of Respect, The Jerky Boys: The Movie and the 1996 HBO TV movie Gotti.

In TV, besides The Sopranos, Pastore’s credits included: Law & Order, The Practice, Son of the Beach, Queens Supreme, Hawaii Five-0, Wu-Tang: An American Saga, plus the miniseries The Last Don II. Most recently, Vincent was a series regular on Gravesend and guest starred on Yellowjackets.

Pastore is survived by his daughter, Renee, son-in-law and granddaughter.
