GENERAL HOSPITAL: Sam’s Loved Ones Mourn Her Death
ABC’s General Hospital continued to bring another tearjerker of an episode on Monday November 4th on the heels of the sudden passing of Sam McCall as played by longtime fan favorite, Kelly Monaco. This will mark the first full week that Monaco will no longer be seen on the show as part of the cast that she called home for 21 years.
In the wake of Sam’s death, her children, Scout (Cosette Abinante) and Danny (Asher Antonyzyn), try to cope with the loss of their mother in their own way, while Dante’s (Dominic Zamprogna) son, Rocco (Finn Carr), who for all intent and purposes was to become Sam’s stepson, is reeling from her death and blaming himself for thinking that if only one person had to survive the liver transplant surgery he hoped it would be his mom, Lulu.
One of the key people in Sam’s life had yet to learn the news of her death, and that was Spinelli (Bradford Anderson). In story, Jason (Steve Burton), in tears, came to see Maxie (Kirsten Storms) and Spinelli and informed them of Sam’s heart attack. Spinelli can’t accept that Sam is gone, as he recalls how she was the first to give him a chance and actually see him. In a very touching moment, Jason says that because of Sam, he has Spinelli and Maxie’s friendship for life. Later, Jason hugs Spinelli before he leaves as the two men are in tears. Spinelli and Maxie are left to deal with their grief.

Back at the hospital chapel, Rocco continues to blame himself and Laura (Genie Francis) tell hims that if Sam were there, she wouldn’t blame him, so he shouldn’t blame herself. Laura goes on to say that everyone has thoughts and negative feelings, even her. Meanwhile, Drew (Cameron Mathison) finds Scout coloring and comes to see his little girl to assure her that he won’t lie to her, and things will be tough but she has a whole house of Quartermaines, and Alexis and Jason to help her through this and she will never be alone.

Danny is with Carly (Laura Wright). He is also grappling with his mother’s death, but trying to be strong for his sister as Carly listens to him as he organizes Halloween candy. Eventually, Carly asks Danny if it’s OK for her to give him a hug, which he allows as Jason comes to see his son. Danny runs into Jason’s arms in grief.

Alexis (Nancy Lee Grahn) is just heartbroken and after telling the remainder of the Davis girls: Kristina (Kate Mansi) and Molly (Kristen Vaganos), about the passing of theie sister and then has a meltdown of her own. She can’t catch her breathe and can’t understand why this has happened and why she is now going to outlive her daughter as it should not be like this. Eventually, the grieving women bond together and decide to head to the hospital to try to find out any news on the investigation into Sam’s death.

Dante is beside himself at the hospital and being comforted by his dad, Sonny Corinthos. He says, “Tell me how I’m going to live without her.” He goes on to share that if it were not for Sam he wouldn’t be alive. She got him through his PTSD episode, and helped him regain his life. Now, Dante feels wracked with guilt as he relates that he waited too long to propose to her. He wanted her to be his wife and now it’s all for nothing. At the conclusion of the episode, Rocco comes off the elevator with Laura and runs into the arms of Dante and the two hug in their grief over Sam.
What did you think of the scenes featuring how Scout, Danny and Rocco are trying to cope with the loss of Sam? The Davis girls? Jason, Spinelli and Maxie? Did you continue to reach for the hankies? Share your thoughts in the comment section below. But first check out the moment where Spinelli and Maxie learn from Jason that Sam is gone.
Spinelli sobbing got me more then anyone. I really wanted Alexis to look at Molly and say, I understand WHY Kristina is so devastated about losing this baby. It’s primal. But hopefully it ends the Davis girl feud and Molly sees past her own grief, seeing it in her mother. For God’s sake bring back Blaze and give Kristina some happiness from all this loss. Get the Davis family in Therapy
Here’s my question, is Jason now gonna become Mr.Mom? Scout got Drew which isn’t much but at least he’s not a criminal, Is Jason gonna prioritize Danny or is he as usual just gonna be Sonny and Carly bitch boy? Regardless, Sam dying blows big time, I’m tired of these writers and Producers, they need to be replaced.
Good luck, Michael, coming up with your power performance of the week! GH has, by my count, about eight of ’em this week! Start with those amazing kids!
Nancy Grahn threw me—She touched me like no other.. Her pain was tangible —and, may I say—she still looks amazing without makeup. She takes the prize!!

Vincent Pastore of ‘Sopranos’ Fame and ‘General Hospital’s’ Maximus Giambetti Dies at 80

Vincent Pastore, best known for his memorable role as Salvatore “Big Pussy” Bonpensiero on HBO’s The Sopranos has passed away.
The veteran actor was found dead on August 1st in his home in the Bronx, New York. Pastore was 80-years-old. The cause of death is yet to be determined.
As well as his role on The Sopranos, many soap fans will recall he played multiple smaller roles on the beloved One Life to Live from 1995 and 2004. However, in 2008, he landed the short-term role as Maximus Giambetti on General Hospital.

PASTORE WANTED TO BE ON GENERAL HOSPITAL
Maximus was the mobster father of Sonny Corinthos’ (Maurice Benard) bodyguards: Max (Derk Cheetwood) and Milo (Drew Cheetwood)
According to Soap Opera Digest, Pastore told Soaps In Depth back in 2009, after appearing in a SOAPnet promotional campaign as a celebrity fan of General Hospital: “‘I’d love to be on the show. So they called up GH’s casting director (Mark Teschner) and Bobby (Robert Guza Jr. ex-head writer, GH) and they wrote me in!”
Pastore was a huge General Hospital fan from way back, who at one point told producers that he would watch the ABC soap opera while working in bars and nightclubs in the 70s and 80s.
Throughout his decades long career, Pastore appeared in films including: Goodfellas, Carlito’s Way and Men of Respect, The Jerky Boys: The Movie and the 1996 HBO TV movie Gotti.
In TV, besides The Sopranos, Pastore’s credits included: Law & Order, The Practice, Son of the Beach, Queens Supreme, Hawaii Five-0, Wu-Tang: An American Saga, plus the miniseries The Last Don II. Most recently, Vincent was a series regular on Gravesend and guest starred on Yellowjackets.
Pastore is survived by his daughter, Renee, son-in-law and granddaughter.
