GENERAL HOSPITAL: Tracy and Sonny Lament Over Luke on His Birthday; Cates Makes a Play for Ava

You can’t get any better than Jane Elliot, and on her most recent return to General Hospital, she has been given touching scenes that show us the heart of Tracy Quartermaine against the stuff outward veneer of hers.

Now on Tuesday’s July 23rd episode of the ABC daytime drama series, Tracy is sorrowful as it is Luke’s birthday and for as we know in story, Luke is presumed dead.

Tracy talks to her son, Ned (Wally Kurth), who knows it is Luke’s birthday and comes to comfort his mother who is in the stables. She admits to Ned that without Luke, she feels like she’s barely keeping her head above water. Eventually, Ned gives Tracy a warm embrace and she thanks him for being her sounding board during this difficult time.

Later, Tracy runs into Sonny (Maurice Benard) on the street looking in the direction of where Luke’s club used to be. As they mourn look on his birthday, Tracy remembers how Luke made up his mind at a young age to take advantage opportunities that came his way. That through Luke’s harrowing past, he found some happiness. Sonny recalls his final goodbye with Luke on the docks of Port Charles, before Luke left for Amsterdam. The two agree that Luke was the all-time best.

Elsewhere, Cates  (Adam J. Harrington) is showing his true disdain for Sonny, as he is obsessed on bringing him to justice and putting him behind bars. Cates is still holding a deep grudge for what happened to Karen Wexler and for his brother, Stone.

Cates comes to see Ava (Maura West). He wants information on Sonny’s criminal activities. If she wants his help with getting custody of Avery, he needs hers help in return. Ava explains she’s in a delicate situation and if she helps put Sonny away something could happen to her. Cates promises Ava that she won’t lose Avery.  Next, the two share a kiss. However, its interrupted by an important call for Cates.

Meanwhile, Carly (Laura Wright), Jason (Steve Burton), Sonny (Maurice Benard), Anna (Finola Hughes) and more have had it up to here with Cates manipulations and what’s its done to their lives.

So, what did you think about Tracy remembering Luke on his birthday? Do you enjoy the performances of Jane Elliot as much as we do? Do you think Cates and Ava will end up hitting the sheets and taking down Sonny together? Comment below.

I’m really enjoying Tracy’s softer side. These last few scenes with Sonny and Cody were great. She was actually nice! I’ve always loved Jane Elliott and glad she came back.

Jane Elliott makes the show better every day that she is on it. I would have loved to have seen her and Gregory get together. Tracy is a beautiful, wealthy woman. Can we bring in someone who could go toe-to-toe with Tracy/Jane? The Daytime Emmy Awards needs to recognize her the way they recognized Suzanne Rogers this year, but I would prefer to see her get an acting nod.

The only prospect that I can see right now would be Lane Davies, the old curmudgeon lawyer that they may be thinking of pairing with Nancy Grahn, whom she was married to on Santa Barbara. I don’t like him with Nancy at all but he could be a toe to toe partner for Tracy.

So…. Veggie Lulu is getting more visits… Lucky is on his way home… Tracy & Sonny reminiscing about (the no way in Hell is he really dead) Luke on his birthday….

Could this all be pointing into a big return for the Spencer family in the coming months?

As the Mandalorian would say…. “This is the way”

The way to bring GH back to life, that is.

Geary is retired for good. Luke isn’t coming back – not even temporarily. The show has moved on.

I can’t imagine Anthony Geary would be coming out of retirement and leaving Amsterdam to return to GH at 78 years old. He’s supposedly loving his life over there. I do think they’re going to bring back Lulu, and they need to get Nikolas out of jail and bring him back, too.

Tracy sparkles. She lights up every scene she plays in. When you have a great actress anything is possible.

Jane is fantastic. I’m so happy she’s been back at GH this long.

Ugh! SO sick of the re-imagining of Tracy Quartermaine. She’s become Lila! She’s so sickeningly sweet to EVERYBODY. I miss the scheming witch on wheels that used to stir up trouble everywhere! Sure, it’s a joy to have Jane Elliott on the program again, but they’ve completely lobotomized the character.

I don’t think that was the original plan, but since Leslie Charleson’s health has declined somewhat rapidly, Tracy’s “short visit” became a long time return, and she’s evolved into the de-facto matriarch of the Quartermaine clan. And Hell only knows, they need one!

I think that it would be a bit more true to character if Olivia would become “Lila.” She’s also compassionate, but no-nonsense. Don’t get me wrong. Jane is brilliant either way. But I miss her snark. And with Rena Sofer back as Lois Cerillo, it would be even BETTER to have these two grand dames go toe-to-toe.

I think the only way Geary would return is if they let him write the story. After the exit story he was given, I wouldn’t blame him one bit.

This week on all-new episodes of General Hospital, new and old motivations come into play with dangerous consequences. According to the just released GH video spoilers video for the week of August 3-7, a bailiff calls out, “All rise!”

Now it’s Isaiah (Sawandi Wilson) vs. Curtis (Donnell Turner), as the surgeon is suing the owner of the Savoy for assault that ruined is ability to operate. At the end of the day, which of these men has enough evidence against the other? Portia (Brook Kerr) is by Isaiah’s side, while Jordan (Tanisha Harper) is with Curtis.

Next, Lucy (Lynn Herring) has a plan to get the controlling shares of Deception away from Michael (Rory Gibson). She wants her daughter, Serena (Kelly Kruger) to seduce Michael. Later, there is a small baggie containing three blue pills. Nina (Cynthia Watros) ask Willow (Katelyn MacMullen), “What did you do?” We also see Michael asking the same thing of Jacinda (Paige Herschell). Leading into this week, viewers know that Willow doesn’t want the former escort anywhere near her children, Amelia and Wiley. Is this how she stops her, or is Jacinda up to old tricks and wants to frame Willow? Remember when Jacindsa drugged Drew (Cameron Mathison)? Stay tuned.

Finally, in the pick-up from last Friday’s cliffhanger, an emotional Jason (Steve Burton) continues to tell Sonny (Maurice Benard) that he cannot work for him anymore. Sonny ask, “So that’s it? You’re Out?” We fade to black.

Published

Vincent Pastore, best known for his memorable role as Salvatore “Big Pussy” Bonpensiero on HBO’s The Sopranos has passed away.

The veteran actor was found dead on August 1st in his home in the Bronx, New York. Pastore was 80-years-old. The cause of death is yet to be determined.

As well as his role on The Sopranos, many soap fans will recall he played multiple smaller roles on the beloved One Life to Live from 1995 and 2004. However, in 2008, he landed the short-term role as Maximus Giambetti on General Hospital.

PASTORE WANTED TO BE ON GENERAL HOSPITAL

Maximus was the mobster father of Sonny Corinthos’ (Maurice Benard) bodyguards: Max (Derk Cheetwood) and Milo (Drew Cheetwood)

According to Soap Opera Digest, Pastore told Soaps In Depth back in 2009, after appearing in a SOAPnet promotional campaign as a celebrity fan of General Hospital: “‘I’d love to be on the show. So they called up GH’s casting director (Mark Teschner) and Bobby (Robert Guza Jr. ex-head writer, GH) and they wrote me in!”

Pastore was a huge General Hospital fan from way back, who at one point told producers that he would watch the ABC soap opera while working in bars and nightclubs in the 70s and 80s.

Throughout his decades long career, Pastore appeared in films including: Goodfellas, Carlito’s Way and Men of Respect, The Jerky Boys: The Movie and the 1996 HBO TV movie Gotti.

In TV, besides The Sopranos, Pastore’s credits included: Law & Order, The Practice, Son of the Beach, Queens Supreme, Hawaii Five-0, Wu-Tang: An American Saga, plus the miniseries The Last Don II. Most recently, Vincent was a series regular on Gravesend and guest starred on Yellowjackets.

Pastore is survived by his daughter, Renee, son-in-law and granddaughter.
