GENERAL HOSPITAL: Trina to Spencer, “Snap Out Out Of It! This Fantasy That You and Esme Have of Playing House is a Dream Come True For Her”

Is Spencer Cassadine (Nicholas Chavez) that unaware of Esme’s (Avery Pohl) manipulation on General Hospital? Apparently so, after some answers he gave to his girlfriend, Trina (Tabyana Ali), who confronted her beau about his involvement with Esme, and helping raise his little brother, Ace.

On Thursday’s episode of General Hospital, Spencer visits Trina at the art gallery, and informs her that Nikolas is indeed alive … somewhere.  Trina wants to know why Spencer doesn’t seem that rattled by the news and that his father is intentionally staying away from Port Charles. Spencer says he would prefer that Nikolas stay away and not return while things are going well with Esme and Ace.

Spencer adds that Ace is better off without the cold and calculated Nikolas in his life. Then, Trina confronts Spencer about Esme.  She  concerned that the old Esme will resurface.  However, Spencer shuts Trina down, saying Esme is being a good mother.  Spencer explains that while he will never forgive her for her past transgressions (OY!) and what she did to Trina and everyone he cared about, he believes Esme is being sincere.

Just then, Trina puts a halt to his stance on Esme. She believes that Esme is clearly still in love with him and wants to build a family with him.  Trina also reminds Spencer that he is not Ace’s father and that no matter how bad he thinks Nikolas is, he should be the man raising Ace.

When discussion turns towards their future, Spencer says Trina makes him as happy as Ace does. At that point, Trina lays into him! She believes he wants to be more than Ace’s father. Ultimately, she adds Esme has final say when it comes to Ace and Spencer won’t be able to do anything about it.

Trying to get him to open his eyes on the situation, Trina shouts, “Spencer! Snap out of it! This fantasy that you and Esme have of playing house is a dream come true for her!”

Watch the key Sprina scenes from yesterday’s GH below.

Now weigh-in: Are you getting fed up with Spencer not realizing what Esme is trying to pull? Do you think he knows and is completely and 100 percent playing her? What should Trina do, if Spencer won’t walk away from Esme and playing house with her and baby Ace? Share your thoughts in the comment section.

I would like to see Esma win Spencer over.

That would be interesting, Brian. He’s enmeshed himself way too much into Esme and Ace’s lives. And, this is not going to end well for him and Trina.

Contrary to popular belief, I believe, down deep, he still has feelings for Esme, in spite of everything. It’s possible to love two people at the same time, but you can only be true to one
(and it’s not Trina).Trina needs to jettison him, FAST!. He’s shown that he lacks character where she’s concerned. He’s manipulative and pushes back way too much — like when Trina first said no to going to NYC, when she really needed/wanted to study. She allowed herself to be talked into doing something against her better judgement. Her character never used to be that way. She used to be a little bit of a ‘bad ass’ and stood up for herself. I miss the old Trina.

I’ve known guys just like Spencer. Trina will never really get what she wants and needs from him. He wants his cake, and eat it too. I used to love Spencer, but his character has evolved into a real disappointing loser. (Writers???)

Sassy Duck is right. And kudos on the correct usage of “ jettison.” I love that word.

Why would you want that, Brian? Esme is a sociopath and all the giant babies and cases of amnesia cannot eradicate that. If I have to see Esme balance that giant baby on her narrow hips again, I’m going to scream into my pillow. She not only uses that baby as a shield, she uses it as an accessory. Esme was emotionally abusive to Spencer, creepily manipulative and stalkerish. She drugged Trina and then framed her for revenge porn. You’d have to really hate Spencer to want to inflict that sociopath on him.

Because it would be classic soap opera.

Yes. I think Spence still has deep rooted feelings for Esme. Avery is that special “kind” of thespian owning the “je ne sais quoi’ quality. Sensuality come easy— This Trina is simply a nonentity. My opinion. She and Spence go through the motions—nothing else—no spark. No hot WOWS!!

It’s not that I thinkTabyana Ali isn’t a great actress… and would have been better suited to a new character role, she just isn’t the “Trina” we saw fall in love with and had chemistry with Spencer. It is for this reason I am rooting for Esme.

You go girl!!

I think both characters had good points. However, this situation would be very difficult to handle for me if I was Trina. At the same time, I understand Spencer wanting to raise his little brother and give him a better life than he had. Maybe that’s good storytelling ~ when you can see both sides.

I’ve actually lost interest in this story and Trina seems to be losing audience rapport, though the actress tries hard. Spencer is so hot, I’m convinced he needs someone a bit older than either of his current choices. Sasha? Just speculating…

Spencer and original Trina had chemistry.

Yes—I loved Sydney in the role of “Trina”. NuTrina is not very effective. No charisma.

After everything that finally led up to their weekend and how much it meant to both of them and he can’t see where Trina’s coming from or apparently almost seems he’s not going to meet her in the middle or what I’m afraid of he doesn’t care what Trina thinks.. he wants his cake and eat it too… regardless of how Trina feels which is really upsetting… she’s saying that they committed themselves to each other and now she feels she has the right to not only talk to him about it but have a say in the whole situation and it’s going to take something major, not what I’m thinking I hope but for him to see the light… Kevin is trying to help but he doesn’t care and Esme is doing all of this on purpose anyhow. It sickens me how they’re portraying Spencer.

Spencer is a spoiled, entitled brat. As a kid he was a sweet, precocious little boy, but grown up he’s more like his dad. Wait until Portia and Curtis’s little princess turns up pregnant, it will be all Spencer’s fault, and they’ll act like she had nothing to do with it. Trina wants Spencer all to herself and apparently doesn’t care about Ace’s future as long as it doesn’t include Spencer and also if Esme is so bad, shouldn’t she care a little about this little boy being raised by such a terrible person?

You go, Violet!!! You summed it all up for me!!
Aside—Portia is intolerable for me. She and Curtis just don’t cut it. She’s so jittery—her wobbly head hits every nerve in my body—I can’t watch her scenes.
