GENERAL HOSPITAL: Trina to Spencer, “Snap Out Out Of It! This Fantasy That You and Esme Have of Playing House is a Dream Come True For Her”

By Michael Fairman

Is Spencer Cassadine (Nicholas Chavez) that unaware of Esme’s (Avery Pohl) manipulation on General Hospital? Apparently so, after some answers he gave to his girlfriend, Trina (Tabyana Ali), who confronted her beau about his involvement with Esme, and helping raise his little brother, Ace.

On Thursday’s episode of General Hospital, Spencer visits Trina at the art gallery, and informs her that Nikolas is indeed alive … somewhere.  Trina wants to know why Spencer doesn’t seem that rattled by the news and that his father is intentionally staying away from Port Charles. Spencer says he would prefer that Nikolas stay away and not return while things are going well with Esme and Ace.

Spencer adds that Ace is better off without the cold and calculated Nikolas in his life. Then, Trina confronts Spencer about Esme.  She  concerned that the old Esme will resurface.  However, Spencer shuts Trina down, saying Esme is being a good mother.  Spencer explains that while he will never forgive her for her past transgressions (OY!) and what she did to Trina and everyone he cared about, he believes Esme is being sincere.

Just then, Trina puts a halt to his stance on Esme. She believes that Esme is clearly still in love with him and wants to build a family with him.  Trina also reminds Spencer that he is not Ace’s father and that no matter how bad he thinks Nikolas is, he should be the man raising Ace.

When discussion turns towards their future, Spencer says Trina makes him as happy as Ace does. At that point, Trina lays into him! She believes he wants to be more than Ace’s father. Ultimately, she adds Esme has final say when it comes to Ace and Spencer won’t be able to do anything about it.

Trying to get him to open his eyes on the situation, Trina shouts, “Spencer! Snap out of it! This fantasy that you and Esme have of playing house is a dream come true for her!”

Now weigh-in: Are you getting fed up with Spencer not realizing what Esme is trying to pull? Do you think he knows and is completely and 100 percent playing her? What should Trina do, if Spencer won’t walk away from Esme and playing house with her and baby Ace? Share your thoughts in the comment section.

I would like to see Esma win Spencer over.

That would be interesting, Brian. He’s enmeshed himself way too much into Esme and Ace’s lives. And, this is not going to end well for him and Trina.

Contrary to popular belief, I believe, down deep, he still has feelings for Esme, in spite of everything. It’s possible to love two people at the same time, but you can only be true to one
(and it’s not Trina).Trina needs to jettison him, FAST!. He’s shown that he lacks character where she’s concerned. He’s manipulative and pushes back way too much — like when Trina first said no to going to NYC, when she really needed/wanted to study. She allowed herself to be talked into doing something against her better judgement. Her character never used to be that way. She used to be a little bit of a ‘bad ass’ and stood up for herself. I miss the old Trina.

I’ve known guys just like Spencer. Trina will never really get what she wants and needs from him. He wants his cake, and eat it too. I used to love Spencer, but his character has evolved into a real disappointing loser. (Writers???)

You go girl!!

I think both characters had good points. However, this situation would be very difficult to handle for me if I was Trina. At the same time, I understand Spencer wanting to raise his little brother and give him a better life than he had. Maybe that’s good storytelling ~ when you can see both sides.

I’ve actually lost interest in this story and Trina seems to be losing audience rapport, though the actress tries hard. Spencer is so hot, I’m convinced he needs someone a bit older than either of his current choices. Sasha? Just speculating…

Spencer and original Trina had chemistry.

After everything that finally led up to their weekend and how much it meant to both of them and he can’t see where Trina’s coming from or apparently almost seems he’s not going to meet her in the middle or what I’m afraid of he doesn’t care what Trina thinks.. he wants his cake and eat it too… regardless of how Trina feels which is really upsetting… she’s saying that they committed themselves to each other and now she feels she has the right to not only talk to him about it but have a say in the whole situation and it’s going to take something major, not what I’m thinking I hope but for him to see the light… Kevin is trying to help but he doesn’t care and Esme is doing all of this on purpose anyhow. It sickens me how they’re portraying Spencer.

Spencer is a spoiled, entitled brat. As a kid he was a sweet, precocious little boy, but grown up he’s more like his dad. Wait until Portia and Curtis’s little princess turns up pregnant, it will be all Spencer’s fault, and they’ll act like she had nothing to do with it. Trina wants Spencer all to herself and apparently doesn’t care about Ace’s future as long as it doesn’t include Spencer and also if Esme is so bad, shouldn’t she care a little about this little boy being raised by such a terrible person?

This week on all-new episodes of General Hospital, new and old motivations come into play with dangerous consequences. According to the just released GH video spoilers video for the week of August 3-7, a bailiff calls out, “All rise!”

Now it’s Isaiah (Sawandi Wilson) vs. Curtis (Donnell Turner), as the surgeon is suing the owner of the Savoy for assault that ruined is ability to operate. At the end of the day, which of these men has enough evidence against the other? Portia (Brook Kerr) is by Isaiah’s side, while Jordan (Tanisha Harper) is with Curtis.

Later, there is a small baggie containing three blue pills. Nina (Cynthia Watros) ask Willow (Katelyn MacMullen), “What did you do?” We also see Michael asking the same thing of Jacinda (Paige Herschell). Leading into this week, viewers know that Willow doesn’t want the former escort anywhere near her children, Amelia and Wiley. Is this how she stops her, or is Jacinda up to old tricks and wants to frame Willow? Remember when Jacindsa drugged Drew (Cameron Mathison)? Stay tuned.

Finally, in the pick-up from last Friday’s cliffhanger, an emotional Jason (Steve Burton) continues to tell Sonny (Maurice Benard) that he cannot work for him anymore. Sonny ask, “So that’s it? You’re Out?” We fade to black.

Vincent Pastore, best known for his memorable role as Salvatore “Big Pussy” Bonpensiero on HBO’s The Sopranos has passed away.

The veteran actor was found dead on August 1st in his home in the Bronx, New York. Pastore was 80-years-old. The cause of death is yet to be determined.

As well as his role on The Sopranos, many soap fans will recall he played multiple smaller roles on the beloved One Life to Live from 1995 and 2004. However, in 2008, he landed the short-term role as Maximus Giambetti on General Hospital.

PASTORE WANTED TO BE ON GENERAL HOSPITAL

Maximus was the mobster father of Sonny Corinthos’ (Maurice Benard) bodyguards: Max (Derk Cheetwood) and Milo (Drew Cheetwood)

According to Soap Opera Digest, Pastore told Soaps In Depth back in 2009, after appearing in a SOAPnet promotional campaign as a celebrity fan of General Hospital: “‘I’d love to be on the show. So they called up GH’s casting director (Mark Teschner) and Bobby (Robert Guza Jr. ex-head writer, GH) and they wrote me in!”

Pastore was a huge General Hospital fan from way back, who at one point told producers that he would watch the ABC soap opera while working in bars and nightclubs in the 70s and 80s.

Throughout his decades long career, Pastore appeared in films including: Goodfellas, Carlito’s Way and Men of Respect, The Jerky Boys: The Movie and the 1996 HBO TV movie Gotti.

In TV, besides The Sopranos, Pastore’s credits included: Law & Order, The Practice, Son of the Beach, Queens Supreme, Hawaii Five-0, Wu-Tang: An American Saga, plus the miniseries The Last Don II. Most recently, Vincent was a series regular on Gravesend and guest starred on Yellowjackets.

Pastore is survived by his daughter, Renee, son-in-law and granddaughter.
