GENERAL HOSPITAL: Will Cyrus Be Successful in Ending the Life of Michael Corinthos?
It has been difficult to watch the scenes featuring a badly burned Michael Corinthos (Chad Duell) for several reasons all weeklong on General Hospital,
First, for those who watched the show for at least 14-plus years, they have become familiar and accustomed to Daytime Emmy-winner, Chad Duell, in the role of Michael and must be feeling a rollercoaster of emotions. After Friday’s January 10th episode, fans are left pondering is GH actually killing-off the character, or sending him away to a longterm burn facility to facilitate Duell’s exit?
In addition to the on-screen drama, viewer discretion was advised by the ABC soap opera. The timing of the fire and burn storyline landed right in the middle of Los Angeles County battling the worst wildfires in its history, which has caused lives, homes and displacement of so many people, with two of its most deadly fires nowhere near 100% contained.

With that said, Friday’s GH ended with a harrowing moment. As Michael fights for his life, while heavily sedated due to the pain from burns on 40 percent of his body, Cyrus Renault (Jeff Kober) has SOMEHOW ONCE AGAIN snuck into another hospital room in surgical scrubs. This time Michael’s.
He takes off his surgical mask, and with tears in his eyes says to Michael, “I know you’re in terrible pain, Michael, but your suffering will soon be over. You will soon be at peace. God will call you home.” As he prepares to inject Michael’s IV with digitalis (the same drug that he killed Sam and Dex with), Cyrus says, “May your soul be surrounded by divine light.”

Courtesy/ABC
Now the question becomes, What is Cyrus’ motives? Does he think he is truly doing the lord’s work as a “mercy” killer? Is he just seeking revenge on everyone? We understood why he would kill Dex, as he could have implicated him in Sam’s death, but why this?
Earlier in the episode, Sasha (Sofia Mattsson) learns of Michael’s condition and runs to GH. Jason (Steve Burton) finds her weeping outside Michael’s hospital room. Sasha says she and Michael never had a proper break-up, and her love for him has always been there. She says Michael has stood by her numerous times, and he’s such a good man. He doesn’t deserve this. Jason agrees and says Michael is “the best.” Eventually, Jason offers to take Sasha home.

Are we soon going to get Sasha admitting to Jason she is pregnant with Michael’s child, setting up Jason pretending to be the baby daddy? Will Michael survive Cyrus and somehow communicate to Jason to take care of Sasha and his baby, if he is taken to a longterm care burn facility? Stay tuned.
As for Willow (Katelyn MacMullen), looks like she is going full villain-mode or is she? After Drew (Cameron Mathison) fills her in on how she legally has Michael’s medical proxy, he suggest this is the way she can fight Sonny (Maurice Benard) and Carly (Laura Wright) over taking the kids from her by denying them access to their son. Drew says it’s Sonny and Carly she’s up against now, not Michael, and this could be her only leverage.

Courtesy/ABC
Later in the episode, as Carly and Sonny discuss with Portia (Brook Kerr) longterm burn treatment centers for Michael, Willow shows up and interrupts saying she will be in charge of all medical decisions for Michael going forward as Drew and Nina (Cynthia Watros) look on.
Jack Brennan (Charles Mesure) is leaving bread crumbs for Josslyn (Eden McCoy) to lead her to Cyrus being the one who stabbed Dex in the back at Rice Plaza. He forwarded her a witness list. Jack suggests she talk to the witnesses and piece together what happened and Joss starts with Felicia (Kristina Wagner). As Felicia tries to recall that night, an elevator dings at the hospital. Felicia says,” The bell, that’s it!” She remembers the bell Cyrus was ringing in his hand stopped when Dex was stabbed.

Elswhere, Lucy (Lynn Herring) is making small talk with Sidwell (Carlo Rota) at Bobbie’s after his purchase of Wyndemere. She keeps mentioning the Spencer family, which piques Sidwell’s interest. Is he the person who set the explosion in Sonny’s penthouse, or if not, whodunit?
Now weigh-in: Will Cyrus get caught trying to kill Michael thus ending his reign of terror? If Michael is saved, will he be sent away by Willow to a longterm medical care facility so she can have full custody of Wiley and Amelia? Share your thoughts via the comment section below.
Going to write out a great character and actor with a lame storyline, this is the new GH.
The actor wants to be written off. Cyrus isn’t killing him. He’ll go offscreen to heal. And eventually CD will return or the character will have plastic surgery and a new actor will take over. I agree there are plenty of lame storylines, but I don’t see why this one is.
I mean Jeff Kober/Cyrus
It’s Not Lame, Just Don’t Kill Michael’s Character Off…Even If You Change Actors, He’s Got Lots Of Story Lines….
When All My Children started killing a lot of characters the story ended. I cried so much I hope this doesn’t happen with General Hospital
A Devil’s prediction:
Cyrus will be here in Hell very soon. And Joss will be the one who sends him here, with that .38 revolver she found in Dex’s apartment.
Hope she knows about that 55 gallon drum of acid that Jason keeps in the coffee warehouse when it’s time to ditch the gun
Good idea Satan, but I’d rather see Cyrus taking a bath in that acid, maybe it’d wash away some of his evil scum.
A good swim in the Lake of Fire will take care of that.
Thanks, also been wondering where and how the sick S.O.B gets his never ending digitalis supply, must be pretty expensive. Sure hope it isn’t someone at GH.
He is rich, can afford to pay for it.
Well, Cyrus claims that he followed my old friend JC’s advice to sell all of his possessions and give the money to the poor.
But that was probably about as real as his other “religious” claims. And all of his drug money is stashed in a Cayman Islands account or something similar.
I don’t think so; I think it’ll be caught in enough time, but it’ll cause a long-term coma, which will result in Michael returning to the Manhattan facility he was in when he got shot in 2008.
what the hell is wrong with the writer of general hospital they keep making mistakes first they got rid of sam now they are turning one of the best actor to com along in a long time its makes me sick jeff kober is a gem i just dont understand please get rid of writers and get new ones
Maybe you should apply for the job and see how easy it is.
I tried but I couldn’t find it on Indeed.com.
No, Michael will be saved by Isaiah and Lucas when they guess Michael was given digitalis. They will give him something to counteract the drug, but Michael will still head off to a burn clinic for long term care. Cyrus will not be caught this time. He will still try to kill again before he’s stopped.
I wonder if Sidwell is working with Valentin to take down Sonny since the bomb used was designed by the WSB. Also, could Sidwell be related to the Cassadines? I assume his interest in the Spencers is related to Lucky, but it could also be related to the Spencer and Cassadine history.
My theory is that Sidwell was written tn as a substitute for Lorenzo Alcazar. Clearly all of that “Pikeman” stuff from a few months ago was leading up to an Alcazar return, but for whatever reasons, they couldn’t make an agreement with Ted King to close to deal.
At one point, this Devil even said that Alcazar would be the one buying Wyndemere, because a literal castle on its own island would be the perfect home for an international fugitive felon who was paranoid about his own security. And now, Sidwell shows up, buys Wyndemere, and seems the most likely suspect to have bombed Sonny’s penthouse, even though he’s had no “business dealings” with Sonny… as far as we know.
It all adds up to somebody taking some scripts they had stored in a file on their laptop and doing a search and replace with “Sidwell” instead of “Alcazar”.
I really wish your theory could have come to its fruition. The return of Alcazar would have been riveting. Oh well, at least we got Ric back.
Ric…the man I love to hate…I wonder if he and Ava will get together?
I could sure see him and Victor in cahoots!
I hope Michael changed the proxy,Willow don’t deserve Nothing. How can a woman take her child with her to have sex in the next room? I hope Michael changed his will & proxy leaving Willow with nothing. She isnt a real wife. She will continue her Cult ways, sleeping with different men.
I am disappointed that we are still seeing this Cyrus Renault. He is totally disgusting. Killing off cast members. Do not kill Michael at all.
.
I love Michael. I hope they don’t kill him all but Willow is turning into a real witch listening to Drew. He’s a real jerk.
Drew is showing his true colors!!! I could never see the original Drew doing these things!!! And I Willow she had EVERYTHING and she doesn’t even act as if she even cares about Michael!
Willow needs to find out her mother slept with Drew.
I think Willow is a b . She needs to know that her no good mother slept with Drew. So she can stop her relationship with both of them
Is there any hospital in this country where someone can just walk in off the street without checking in at a visitor desk?
Yes, this show stretches reality a lot, but how does Cyrus get in unnoticed?
Was worried about Felicia for a bit, but it looks like she won’t be in Cy’s crosshairs after recounting her story to Joss.
The way I understood this thing with Cyrus was that he had easy access because of his praying and visiting the patients, come and go as he wanted to than all of a sudden, Portia gives him his walking papers, adios, do not come back, not welcomed, etc. What I had a hard job understanding was how could any convicted killer be let in to administer to patients in the first place, I sure wouldn’t want or let him in to my room. The whole thing with Cyrus is just a farce, will be glad to see the end of him, no matter hiw good an actor he is. The same with C.M/Drew. I feel sorry for his plight but can’t stand seeing him on screen anymore. I KNOW it’s not fair or reasonable but I just cant help it. They play their parts too well!
Yes here in Illinois. You don’t have to know anyone and can walk right in. Terrible medical here in Illinois
Michael/Chad Duell is leaving regardless of what the means are. Why does that pig, Cyrus have to be the one behind it? I’m so sick of him, so many good people leaving and he still remains, killing off whomever he feels like.
Cyrus and his constant bible thumping are really tiresome.
As a pastor myself, I completely agree. Even when his character was being portrayed as a “real believer”, it was shallow and cliche. I believe people can change and be converted in real life, and there’s a real difference. But, beyond being on a tv show, his portrayal always felt like there was some ulterior motive behind it.
I’ve been waiting for Cyrus to go away again. Interested to see what happens…
Please have somebody take Cyrus away. Tired of him.
The fact that three people have died at the hospital under suspicious circumstances, and they wouldn’t have extra security or police on duty, allowing people like Cyrus to roam the halls and wander in and out of patient room as he pleases, really stretches the bounds of reality and common sense.
Jeff Kober has had a good run on the show since 2020. He’s lasted a lot longer than I’m sure he or the show originally planned. It’s just a shame he’s gonna end up going out like many of the other great villains in GH history, and with a poorly written story that has plot holes you can drive an 18 wheeler through.
I do like the hints of Sidwell and Lucy, reminds me of Lucy with Damian Smith many moons ago. She’s always had a habit of being attracted to the bad boys. Always glad to see Lynn Herring back on screen, and I would imagine she’s grateful for having work to help take her mind off the recent loss of her husband.
I believe the wrong bag was injected. When the Willow moves him to offsite treatment, this actually saves Michael unknowingly.
I think Jason is going to take Michael’s death and move him to a private burn unit and only Carly will know.
I THINK GH FINALLY HAS SOME GRATE ACTION GOING ON. ITS A SOAP SO THEY HAVE TO MAKE IT JUICY AND THE WRITERS ARE DOING GREAT. THAT’S WHAT KEEPS ME WATCHING IT. NO I DONT LIKE DREW AND WILLOW TOGETHER EITHER. HE IS OLD ENOUGH TO BE HER DAD. HOWEVER WHEN SHE FINDS OUT THAT NINA AND DREW HAVE BEEN SLEEPING TOGETHER, SHE WILL HATE HERSELF FOR THROWING HER MARRIAGE AWAY. WE WILL HALF TO SEE WHAT REALLY HAPPENS TO HER AND MICHAEL REMEMBER THEY HAVEN’T EVEN TALKED TO ONE OTHER BECAUSE YOU HAVE NINA RUNNING WILLOW LIFE. ALSO WILLOW WAS IN A CULT WITH DAWN OF DAY SO, SHE CAN BE MANIPULATED VERY EASY.
First-off, it’s “great” not “grate”.
Secondly, DO YOU HAVE TO SHOUT IN YOUR RESPONSE?!
Jesus, shut up.
Yes, it does GREAT on one’s nerves.
I really wish somebody from GH would exsplain all this mess that they are making of GH so many fans r upset with our great actors leaving us Sam Dex now Michael at this rate soon none of our good ones will be lefts why GH ♀️
Michael Should Go To The Burn Unit And COME BACK!!! For His Children From Willow, She’s Really Got Issues… Easily Sleeps Around And Parenting….Take Your Child To Your Lovers Hotel In Another State!!Willows Decisions Now, Especially If She Keeps His Parents From Their SON AND GRANDCHILDREN…. SHE Is Just What Josselyn Said…A Cheater With No Morals…Chase Was Her Rescuer From Dawn Of Day….But Slept With Michael, Falling for Him When He Realized Her Baby Died And Was Switched With His Son…That She Gave Away For Adoption,. Then The Ultimate Slept With Her Husbands Uncle….Drama (Lots Of Story Lines) Michael’s Character MUST COME BACK…. THEY GOTTA LOT…AND FIND OUT WHO’S TRYING TO KILL His Father!! SONNY
Marilyn, how does Willow manage to sleep around but still walk the holy ground like a smug church lady clutching her pearls? She’s quite the little multitasker, that gal!
Michael shouldn’t die and this way he can come back. Cyrus should get caught and Willow should find out about Nina sleeping with Drew, so she will quit siding with Drew as a Great Guy
I used to like Willow and Drew, but I don’t like him. She’s a real bitch where she’s treating Michael. She’s the one who slept with Drew before Michael did anything wrong.
And Michael was literally the perfect husband for her. She freaking had it made all she had to do was appreciate what she had!!! Who sleeps with their husbands uncle?? Oh Willow!
Willow do you care about Michael he didn’t see his kids at Christmas drew did are she going to have drew act as daddy to his kid she will send Michael away to be with drew
Someone should lock Cyrus and Drew in a room together so they can ruin each other instead.

Maurice Benard Gives High Praise to ‘General Hospital’ Writers; Teases Upcoming Sonny Scenes with Anna, Jason, Justine and Ric

With the highly-anticipated returns of Finola Hughes (Anna Devane) on this week’s June 24 episode of General Hospital, Steve Burton’s (Jason Morgan) upcoming return on July 13, which also serves as the ABC daytime drama’s 16,000 episode, things are about to fire on all cylinders in the story, as noted today by series star, Maurice Benard (Sonny Corinthos).
On Father’s Day, the three-time Daytime Emmy-winning actor and mental health activist took to his Instagram and expressed in a video that he has some unbelievable upcoming senes with the aforementioned Burton and Hughes. Add to that Nazneen Contractor (Justine Turner) and Rick Hearst (Ric Lansing), where Benard gave credit where credit is due to the GH writing team, which is led by co-head writers, Elizabeth Korte and Chris Van Etten..
In this video, Benard said, “I just want to get on here and say that I did some work with Steve Burton, Finola Hughes, Rick Hearst, Nazneen Contractor, and they’re all just fantastic. Truly fantastic. But, I want to say the writing was just exceptional. It truly was. It was exceptional. So, thankful for that kind of writing. I know writers don’t get the credit a lot, but I just want to say to the General Hospital writing team, keep rolling!”
GENERAL HOSPITAL PREVIEW
So now the question becomes, with a major tease like that, what is about to go down between Sonny, Anna, Jason, Justine and Ric? Will we finally get to the end of the line for Sidwell (Carlo Rota), as previously teased by the GH co-head writers? Will we learn what happened to Jason and Anna, fully? Will Justine and Sonny becomes closer or stop their liaisons? And what of Ric? Will he be true blue to his brother or double-cross him? There is a lot at stake as we move further into the summer and one that looks like it could be one of the more exciting ones in years!
FINOLA HUGHES CONFIRMED AMAZING SCENES WITH MAURICE BENARD
As a punctuation point to his video, Benard also shared this written message in the post: “I just did some wonderful scenes with Steve Burton, Rick Hearst, Finola Hughes and Nazneen Contractor and and unbelievable writing, freaking amazing scenes that you will see in the near future on General Hospital.” In fact, Finola Hughes jumped in the post comment thread and responded, “I loved our scenes so much xxx”
Fans will most likely see all the scenes Benard referred to later in July, since GH tapes approximately six weeks ahead of air.
So, are you excited to see what Maurice is talking about? Are you hyped for what’s to come on GH? Any clue on what you think will go down between the main characters on the soap with the returns of Anna Devane and Jason Morgan to the mix? Weigh-in via the comment section below.

SINCE LEAVING GENERAL HOSPITAL
Previously, since his departure from the ABC soap opera. Chad starred alongside Zach Mendez in the world premiere of of Yum Yum at Annapolis, a new play written by Bruce Reisman. Duell last appeared on General Hospital on the January 21, 2025 episode.
The part was recast with Rory Gibson who debuted as the new Michael in May of 2025 during the Nurses’ Ball episodes and who has remained in the role since that time.
In an interview earlier this year on The Able Show, Duell said on his decision to exit the soap opera, “I was blessed to be part of that (show) for as long as I have, but what happens sometimes is if you’re doing the same thing, especially in a creative field for such a long time, you can get a little burnt out in a way. It can make you a little depressed, so that’s kind of what happened. On top of that, I had other things going on in my life at the time. My father passed away recently and I just needed a reset. So, I stepped away. A lot of times you have to go through some stuff to really step into that next level. I needed to kind of feel uncomfortable.”
So, what type of musical genre will Chad’s new song be? Country? Pop? Rock? Dance/Club? Something else? Let us know your thoughts via the comment section below, and if you are eager to hear the new single next week via the comment section below.

‘General Hospital’s’ Dominic Zamprogna Reflects on Dante’s Guilt for the ‘Atrocity’ That Happened to Michael Which Kept Everyone From Telling Him the Truth About Rocco (Exclusive)

On recent episodes of General Hospital, acting PCPD commissioner, Dante Falconeri (Dominic Zamprogna) was the last to know when his ex-wife Lulu (Alexa Havins), his cop/friend “Nathan,” (Ryan Paevey) and his son, Rocco (Finn Carr) kept him in the dark from learning that Rocco actually shot WSB director, Ross Cullum (Andrew Hawkes). That, set off a chain of events leading to Rocco joining Britt Westbourne (Kelly Thiebaud) and going on the run from Port Charles.
However, what led to everyone being so secretive and keeping the truth from Dante stems, in part, to what happened back in 2010. In story, Michael Corinthos (then played by Chad Duell) was brutally assaulted and rape by his prison inmate, Carter (Josh Wingate). Michael went to prison when his brother, Dante, then a PCPD detective, forced Michael to testify in court about killing his stepmother, Claudia Zacchara (Sarah Brown). That testimony resulted in Michael being sentenced to prison for manslaughter.
In early 2011, Michael admitted out loud to Jason (Steve Burton) for the first time that he was raped. The guilt of that situation has plagued Dante for years, and fast-forward 16 years later, it’s still very much alive in Dante’s character life as explained by Dominic Zamprogna in his recent interview on the Michael Fairman Channel.

Courtesy/ABC
RORY GIBSON RECAST WAS PERFECT TIME TO BRING BACK THE STORY POINT
Zamprogna spoke of Dante’s son current plight, and how it dovetails into the past for the acting police commissioner. “The situation with Rocco is just this awful scenario that this kid is in and wanting to try and do the best for him. The other thing I liked too was from the other people’s perspectives of Dante in the past, he kind of did right by the law, not by the people, or put too much faith in the law, and expected it to work out for the people he loved, and it didn’t. So, it gave them a reason for keeping things from him as well.”
The five-time Daytime Emmy nominee shared it’s important to remember things in the history of the character you play. When GH decided to recast the role of Michael Corinthos with Rory Gibson on-screen in May of 2025, it was the perfect time to remind viewers of what happened all those years ago.
“The idea that when you’re on a show this long, I do think about those elements because there’s so much story. The scenes that I think of immediately with the Michael situation was with Chad gone, and then Rory came in. They (the writers) chose that moment to kind of literally say in the dialogue when we were at the Quartermaines, ‘You’ve changed since you came back from Europe, and you’re a different guy and you’re darker.’ I think I said all these things. Frank Valentini (executive producer, GH) calls (Rory’s version) ‘Dark Michael.’ It’s true.”

Courtesy/ABC
DANTE’S GUILT OVER MICHAEL’S BRUTAL PRISON ASSAULT LINGERS
“That was the first time my character brought that up in what had happened to Michael so long ago. I’d love to play those beats more often. You can’t beat that to death, because it was 16 years ago, but you also can’t act like it never happened. Sometimes in the world that we live in, the soap world, you do act like things don’t happen because how could people carry on with that kind of guilt, you know? Every time I looked at Michael, Dante would feel responsible for the atrocity that happened to him. So, there’s a balance. You can’t think about it every time, but you definitely have to acknowledge it. This was the perfect time to acknowledge it with the character of Michael because of the recast.”
Now over the last several months, Dante was kept from the truth all stemming back to that moment. Zamprogna recalled, “It was the first kind of domino that fell in bringing back that history. Then, you had Britt coming back and that brought back that history of the embryo with Dante and Lulu. It was fun to be able to play pissed-off with these people who I love. So, you got to play the love underneath and the anger on top, and it was all because of his past. So, it all kind of brought things back and it completed something.”
CAN LULU AND DANTE FIND ROCCO AND BRITT IN TIME?
At the end of Friday’s June 19 cliffhanger, Dante and Lulu learned from “Nathan” where Rocco and Britt are hiding out and take off to find their son. How will that go? Can the execs get along for the sake of their son? Stay tuned.
In case you missed our conversation with Dominic Zamprogna you can check it out in full below.
