General Hospital Scores One-Two Ratings Punch! Britt Baby Complications Most Watched Episode In 5 Months! Baby Connie Name Reveal 2nd Most Watched Episode in Over Two Years in Key Demo!

Courtesy/ABC
Last week was a great week for General Hospital, and so too were the stories and episodes! Two of which we had reported on in our Soap Buzz and just as much as we loved them, so did the audience!
According to ABC, for the ratings week of September 9-13th, the Tuesday September 10th telecast of GH featuring complications with Britt’s (Kelly Thiebaud) baby and a newly-freed Franco (Roger Howarth) proclaiming his feelings for Carly (Laura Wright), ranked as the series’ most-watched telecast in nearly 5 months in Total Viewers (3.00 million), while Wednesday’s episode Sept 11th), revealing Baby Connie as the name that Dante (Dominic Zamprogna) and Lulu (Emme Rylan) chose for their new little bundle of joy, was GHs =2nd-most-watched telecast in over 2 years in Women 25-54 (1.03 million) – since 4/10/13 and 8/15/11, respectively.
Both these episodes illustrated that good umbrella story and pushing the story forward brings in the viewers, plus seeing characters the audience wants to see front and center also helps along with stellar performances
So what do you think of GH strong showing and numbers? Were you watching last week all the baby drama for Britt, Dante and Lulu, Spinelli and Maxie? And Franco professing his feelings to Carly? Let us know!
I was watching both days to see @MauriceBenardMB & Sonny’s breakdown story. That’s the problem with naming certain things and leaving out other.
Well then you had a treat today….Sonny doing the manic was just about the most entertaining I have ever seen him….not generally a fan of MB’s acting style, but he was laugh out loud funny at that party. They should give him more scenes of such levity….it definitely broke that decades old mold that he’s been trapped in..and it was a wonderful and welcome change of pace!!!!! (I especially enjoyed Carly and the “Bensonhurst Babe’s” reaction to his mirth and merriment!!!!)
While I am enjoying the story of Brit’s baby very much and was interested in the name of Lante’s baby, I remain repulsed by the Franco story and especially with the farce of the infatuation between him and Carly. Clearly the story is hated by many fans, even though many apparently are fine with it. I would be surprised if it is bringing new viewers to GH but I’m sure RC/FV will try to spin it that way. For me I can’t watch RH’s scenes as Franco, even though I respected and liked him as Todd.
At this point I am hanging on by a thread to see how the Luke story is resolved in November. Then I think, after thirty years, I’m done. RC’s writing style just isn’t for me. Never watched OLTL and never heard anything about it that made me want to.
I’m watching for Maxie and Spinelli, and I want them to claim BABY GEORGIE ASAP!!!
Same here. I want Maxie and Spinelli together and the baby with name changed to Georgie.
xxxxx
Robins return, and the reveal of baby Bens true parentage will cause ratings to go even higher…wait and see…i bet if ratings were calculated by all age groups and both sexes the ratings would be even higher. Meanwhile im still hoping Robin will be an imposter who takes baby Ben and disappears with him after its revealed Ben is Patricks and Robins child(or is he) I still believe my favorite Dr.O has plans for the child and is the person who sent a fake Robin to PC to get her hands on the baby…it probably wont happend but i think this would make a thrilling storyline as Patrick and Britt unite to find the missing child…
You may not be tooooo far off the mark, jimh….at least in reference to our adored “Dr. O.!!!!” Enough said….
The toddler playing the baby is Asian which makes sense since Brad — Asian — is the father. Doubt Patrick has any Asian in his lineage.
I didn’t notice any Asian features during “Baby Ben’s” closeup…and he obviously doesn’t have a dark, funky hairdo, either!!!! Definitely not like Brad…..
You are giving tiic of this show right now TOO TOO TOO much credit. They will never think of anything so devious and actually intriguing ,unless they copy it from you.
I have shut the Sonny’s off his meds show, and watched the Britt part on here. It was good. Sorry when Sonny eats the show as he is prone to do, I just don’t’ bother to watch. I still think the baby is Patrick’s or he would have insisted on a dna test.
I wish they would use some fans story ideas…not just mine but others ive read that sound even better…Sonny can be a bit too much at times(however i wish certain members of my own family would act more like him when they are off or even when they are on their meds, and unfortunately unlike the tv show i cant shut them out…lol) Also, i feel there is more twists to come in Britts baby storyline. Thanks 4 the reply Janet!!!
I really love GH.Hate they killed off Kelly Sullivan but the show is still great and now the return of Robin.Just gets better.
Let’s not forget the announcement of Robin returning brought back viewers also. Since many are trying to catch up on GH for Robin’s return.
Not really.
The storylines are silly, and clearly the writers don’t know what to do with the major characters.Initially I disliked, Sony, but even mobsters deserve some normalized family life.Bringing back Michaels birth dad, was done to prop up the Quartermaine family tree and give them and the show a sense of history, but E.J.Monica’s son or the character ‘s acting is flat, and boring at best.Ava, and Franco, I still call him Todd Manning, is the most ludicrous stretch of anyone’s imagination? This is the worst travesty of the entire show.James Franco was the only Franco!!!!!Quit this nonsense of a story, and Laura Wrights talents are wasted on this mess of story.
I have been intrigued with new Franco..
RH is owning his character of Franco and I am waiting for RH to really show off his Franco in a story involving him!! awesome!!
GH has been outstanding in many ways!!!
GH has risen from the ashes!!!! It is reborn and rockin !!
I love RH, he’s hilarious, really don’t care if he is Todd, Franco…don’t care, love him.
any hot-blooded person(s)… be it man or woman… in his presence… tantalize…
the prospects are there…
he quips
he reals
he “owns”
Yikes!
anyway… on to Carly…
“?” big question
“!” big WTH… heck is going on?
her character… is being so…. how shall we say this…. written poorly….
she’s “fighting” with Felix – he’s her boyfriend.
she’s acting childish with Ava… over the big party for Kiki/Morgan.
she storms off… AGAIN from Franco’s room… that she’s done w/him
I mean… mother of the year… will stand and fight for…
it’s been months… and she’s still doing the same…. things…
OK… it’s the writing…
but.. it’s like long winded… machinations still the same… OK Carly…
hop in to bed…
that should buy you some time
I’m watching for Spixie. I honestly believe Britt is being over hyped and given to much credit by the soaps media and ABC. I honestly believe most fans don’t give a damn about Britt and wants the truth to come out that its not her baby and then she can leave GH for good. I can’t wait for baby Georgie to be claimed by her real parents Maxie and Spinelli, and she can get away from those imposters!
yesterdays’ epi… when Britt, Nicholas, and Benjamin left the hospital…
I’ve never seen Britt look more radiant…
ratings be damned.. who are the Nielsons! ? this is one time I’m with them…
hooray for Britt and Maxie…. IMO – DAYS should be #2…. GH #1.
CBS, sad to report… is doldrums… a shell of itself. I must add… Michael Muhney, Adam… is saving Y&R… sadly.. waiting for Sharon to be righted.. ala writing.. seems too far away…
dag! did you see Maxie yesterday… in that black dress… looking so HOT! this girl… has elevated herself.. to woman. and it shows… perhaps… IF I was married to Brandon Barash… i’d be ALL that
man… i was looking at Kelly Sullivan in that funeral print… and SHE”s STUNNING!
Dag! what a loss
I just have to say… if it seems I’m on a ???? !!!! Carly and Sonny spiral… it’s the company they keep…. it’s time for GH to cut their losses…. Michael, Morgan, and Kiki… are achingly unwatchable.
why is it that Felix is THE busybody? Dang! I’d much rather have Brad in the scenery.
I can’t even go their… ie: Sabrina, Patrick, and Emma…. it’s hurry up and wait… for THE return…. Robin McCullough
who cares general hospital will still be cancelled next year. meridith viera talk show will replace general hospital next year. general hospital needs to go away now. lets see more talk shows and reality shows. i work for abc. hows that for you.
Well… this is sad to say but there is a part of me that would rather the show be cancelled than to have to suck it up with so much of the new approach by TPTB
Sorry you dont like GH but no one is forcing you to watch a show you dont like…
Somehow I doubt you work for abc. You’re just stirring up nonsense. You know your comments will get negative attention. Three words for you Get a life!:)
i agree with you linda. general hospital needs to be cancelled. i would rather watch a game show talk show or reality. gh is so so boring. abc wants out of the soap business.
george you are a rude man. linda me everyone can voice their own opinions on here. if you don’t like peoples opinions, do not come on this site and harass people.
That is nonsense ..
Well you certainly sound like you have the intelligence level to not only work for ABC but be a top executive.
LOL 🙂
And since you work for abc…you claim…there is a great possibilty you could be replaced too…lol
To each his own. I haven’t watched in weeks.
For me the show is unwatchable. The Franco mess is awful, and although I love Roger Howarth on OLTL I hate him on GH.
I’ll tune in when Robin returns for those scenes only and then back out again.
I also quit watching months ago hit and miss here and there. Tell me this the recast Morgan has he ever had a scene with Molly? I thought they were close growing up or was I wrong?
I’m really enjoying almost every aspect of GH right now! Sad to lose Kelly Sullivan, but impressed how her murder has impacted so many different story lines! Anxious to find out the true parentage of both babies! And if you think you already know…I promise they are wayyy ahead of us! It will be something we didn’t see coming!! Look forward to more Dante & family scenes soon!!
I am very happy for everyone at GH!!! They are on fire right now and I love it!!! it is the best show, cast, writers and crew!!!
I agree!
Bradford Anderson and Kirsten Storms have been killing it with their amazing acting during this Spixie baby story. I’m watching for Maxie, Spinellli, and baby Georgie! Britt, Dante, and Lulu do nothing for me and been blah during the last couple of months. I’m also enjoying Emma, Patrick, Anna, Felicia, and Mac.
Agree completely!!!
Then there is this week! I am actually enjoying Days of our Lives more than General Hospital this week.
With the exception of the gays and yet anoher DiMera victory (seriously Stefano…retire) I am loving Days too. Kristen, Marlena, and Nicole could have a spinoff! Their bitchy battles are must see. I also want another drug laced, looped out book club gathering. That was choice!
Wow talk about Spixie being ignored in this article until the last sentence! I was not watching GH to see Lante give Spixie’s baby a fake name! I was watching in hoping that both Maxie and Spinelli smarten up and get “THEIR BABY” away from Dante and Lulu, and raise their baby together as a family!
Agree!!!
i love GH , its rocking and so is everyone, i’ love the 3 ex oltl in their new roles and can’t wait for Robin to come home and for Anna to become more front and center, the only thing GH is failing missererably at is how they are treating Genie Francis. its sad that Y&R she devil boss fired her, but then for GH to hire her and treat her like an extra is even worse, shame on you FV and RC, this is really insulting.
They should show more Laura…bringing back Scotty and Leslie seems totally pointless…Leslie never showed up at the hospital to visit Lulu and the baby!!!
IAM LOVING IT, NOW BRITS BABY REALLY LULU AND CRAZY STAVOS! I BET
OH FOR GOT TO SAY THANK YOU FRANK AND RON.
t I have alternately praised and been confounded by RC’s writing, but this fall he is not even trying. He just dusted off last year’s scripts and changed names to protect the guilty. Where do I begin. Okay…former villain comes to town with a different face to claim mob territory and torment Duke and Anna (2012 Faison, 2013 Julian). Part of the plot involves marrying mob child to one of Sonny’s offspring (2012 Trey/Kristina, 2013 Kiki/Morgan). There is a shooting death of someone Sonny loves (2012 Jason, 2013 Connie). A mob thug gets shot and kicked off the pier (2012 Jason, 2013 whatever the thug’s name was). There is the long ago teenage pregnancy where a mobster was the father (2012 Connie Joe Trey, 2013 Alexis Julian Sam). There are more similarities but I think I have made my point . Besides that, WHY do Ava and Julian keep having conversations in public places saying things like “We can’t let our enemy Sonny Corinthos or anyone else in this town find out that you are the presumed dead mob kingpin Julian Jerome and I am your previously unknown sister Ava Jerome!”. It is beyond ridiculous the way these people talk to each other. And what was with Alexis pouring her heart out to Derek, a complete stranger????? This is a woman who did not talk about her baby daddy for 40 years, then in 2 minutes she basically told Derek “I’m a slut. I have three daughters by three different fathers. One is a mobster, one is his brother, and he other I was a drunk tteenager in he back of a car. Oh and did I mention I’m also a high paid mob lawyer? How about you?”. Alexis would NEVER divulge all of that to a stranger!
Im enjoying gh but what youve said is so true…
EXCELLENT observations, Johnny…particularly the ones pertaining to Alexis!!!! Her motor mouth revelations (confessions?) to an (almost) perfect stranger were beyond embarrassing! (Cringe de la cringe!!!!!)
you just created a new saying… LOL
love it.
cringe de la cringe
So glad you enjoyed it, Patrick, but I cannot take credit for what is not mine….you must thank “Cressida Bonas,” Prince Harry’s latest squeeze….apparently she coined the phrase to describe the greatest height of embarrassment and humiliation, and I loved it so much when I read it that I made a point to save it for those especially applicable occasions….I thought the one with Alexis was befitting of the term!!! (Love it, use it, never lose it…..LOL!)
Yup. In a nutshell, how many ways can we say LAZY WRITING….
YUP. People bashed Guza and Phelps for these types of violent, misogynistic, mob related stories for a decade. And Cartini is doing NOTHING differently. They are even retelling their own recent stories. If anything they are worse because the old regime made no pretense about having or wanting the veterans around. The show HAS many vets hat we rarely see but are clamoring for. Everyone on the canvas is now just an extension of the mob. Why did ABC even fire Phelps and Cuss only to hire another duo who plans to take the show in the exact same direction?
This is in reply to Johnny…
In my humble opinion, a big NOPE! Big difference here. Phelps/Guza used their mob to only play 3 characters, Jason/Carly/Sonny. No one else existed…oh that’s right, they existed long enough to get killed off (Alan, Zander, Tony, Justus, Emily, Georgie, Rick, Logan (Scotty’s son no less!) and did I mention Jake? I pretty much gave up on GH that whole decade Phelps was in charge. Her only saving grace was the wonderful love story of Robin and Patrick.
Frank and Ron have done wonderful things for GH. Sure, growing pains abound and not everything is perfect…but the show is STILL on the air and ratings are climbing! The cast is energized, the production team goes out of its way to surprise the audience (how rare in todays twitter/spoiler crazy world), and the audience is responding for the most part. I haven’t been this excited for GH in quite some time. Give credit to Frank and Ron for even being on Twitter. Can you name any other soap EP/Head Writer that do this? Ron even responds to some very nasty tweets.
I love the Jeromes. This story is firmly rooted in GH history. Involves Anna/Duke/Lucy and now brings in Alexis/Sam with Derek and anyone is Ava’s orbit. Also, Julian is the real father to Lucas Jones…who’s gay. Bobbie is his adoptive mother. Would love for him to come back to romance Felix and maybe have mob ambitions (or not) but would love to see how Julian responds to his son. History and character right there! William De Vry and Maura West are very inspired casting moves. What I remember from Guza’s version of the Soapranos was basically each year another mobster would show up to threaten Sonny. Remember Faith? What a joke she was! Bland and with NO history to the show and basically took over.
It today’s day and age of mega cost cutting for Ron and Frank to have such a great cast filled with both vets and newcomers is awesome. I’m sure ABC trims that budget pretty good too. Each and every episode is quality and must-see TV. Heck, I want to see more vets too but its a show filled with riches. These characters and actors are out there and NOT being killed off. If your horrified by how AJ is acting, he was first written to shoot Alan in the back by Guza! At least if any violence happens, it is character driven and you honestly see the characters emotions.
By all means, you are entitled to your opinion and I fully respect it. I just think Frank and Ron are unfairly demonized for attempting to right a formerly sinking ship (GH) with such few monetary resources that are available in the TV world of 2013. Heck, the internet can’t even sustain the new OLTL. My biggest compliment about GH is that if I can come back and love the show after Phelps/Guza graphically killed off the characters I mentioned above, then yes I love it again. History is being respected….just check out the pictures from Frank’s twitter account. Sorry for the wordy response but I feel that strongly that GH is fully on the upswing. I hope you give it another chance and just sit back and enjoy the show!
Alexis.
high strung.
high spirited.
high dolt.
she’s the personification of frigid angst.
she couldn’t keep a man to save her life…. so she boldly quotes high virtue and moral.
her legalese keeps her busy to ignore “her”
LOL.
don’t get me wrong… I love her daughters.
it’s just that.. I laughed when… Derik was talking with Anna/Duke… and there was saint supreme justice Alexis looking down from the 2nd floor at the hospital…
ie: just like she ranted and raved to Shawn about his misdeeds… left him flatulence
lol… for all it’s worth… Alexis
put out
I want maxie and spinelli to claim that baby of theirs!
meredith viera is not going to replace GH she is yesterdays mashed potatoes!
I’m pleased that GH is experiencing a solid uptick in the ratings and I will agree that the combined baby stories have created some good interest – although I very much question that the naming of baby Connie was as much of a key part of this interest as the press comments would indicate. Yes, on the Sept 11 episode, the reveal of her name gave us a heart-warming and heart-breaking scene with MB and the baby at the very end. But that was the very end of the episode, and it was all that came before which created and sustained interest (and ratings) in this episode.
For many, the highlight of this episode was the beautifully written and acted exchange between Maxie and Anna (another example of how the Maxie/Spinelli aspect has been THE key to the success of this particular baby story so far). We also saw strong, character-driven, plot-promoting scenes between Monica and AJ, AJ and Michael, Nikolas and Britt and Maxie and Britt. We saw cute baby scenes with the Falconeris where we were won over while watching a handsome man (Dom/Dante) enamored with his new tiny leading lady bundled in pink. We enjoyed another good moment between Dante and Anna, one where plot was developed without sacrificing the characters or the moment. And we saw the drama of Sonny’s confrontation, a confrontation which made the closing vision of Sonny and baby Connie even more poignant.
I know PR has to focus on one point, but, IMO, there was so much more to choose in this episode, one which I enjoyed more for characterization and for meaningful conversations than for one specific plot point.
I completely agree. This is off topic but would add that for me, as a long term viewer, I turned off most of GH this past Summer. I couldn’t stomach the constant propping of the Franco and Kiki characters. I have come back to viewing recently and have been impressed with a lot of actors, especially KS and BA as Maxie and Spin.
Loving Ava Jerome!!!
She, along with Brit are the best additions to Gh since Brenda Barret was added
I’m enjoying Maxie and Spinelli. I love that Spixie is getting more airtime as of late, and I hope it continues. I can’t wait for Maxie and Spinelli to drop the bomb on Dante and Lulu that the baby is theirs and they want their baby. I’m also enjoying Sonny and his meltdown.
I like Maxie but she needs to take her daughter because the kid should not be related to the drunk driver who killed his grandson, and didn’t care, AND the mobster who kills everyone ,and causes his kids untold pain and horror. This baby should not have that horror of a name and Dante the dirty cop for a father. Maxie needs to step up and realize this. Britt also gave her kid the grandmother from hell. Dr.O. These babies will grow up with the same things against it. I don’t care what the ratings say. this show is going to hell in a handbasket. All the characters who were brought back for the NB are gone or appear once a month. Sonny made me turn the show off for years and here he is eating the show again. Bye Bye.
I think Maxie should have her baby and be with Spinelli !
I never miss an episode, been watching since the 70’s. This year has seen the best stories since the 80’s.
I am LOVING everything about “GH” right now, from Sonny’s bipolar storyline, to the Michael/Morgan/Kiki trio, Franco and Carly, Dante/Lulu-Maxie/Spinelli-Britt/Brad/Patrick-etc. Baby drama, Silas and Sam, Alexis and Julian Jerome storylines, and just anxious for Luke, Laura, and Robin to all return and all that entails!!! “GH” is great and that is the reason for the ratings!!!

‘General Hospital’s’ Amanda Setton Talks Her Reaction, Scenes, and Co-Stars After Becoming a Daytime Emmy Nominee for the First Time (Exclusive)

When the nominations were announced for the 53rd annual Daytime Emmy Awards earlier this week, General Hospital fans were thrilled to see Amanda Setton’s name as one of this year’s Outstanding Supporting Actress nominees.
It marks the first time in her career that she has ever been nominated. Setton has played Brook Lynn Quartermaine since 2019. Soap viewers first saw her in the role of Kimberly Andrews on One Life to Live during her run from 2009-2011.
Amanda received her Daytime Emmy nomination for her emotional turn as Brook Lynn learned she had been lied to by her mother, Lois Cerullo (Rena Sofer) for years, after giving up her baby for adoption as a teen. Little did she know she had a secret son living with her this whole time at the Quartermaine mansion in Gio Palmieri (Giovanni Mazza).

During an exclusive conversation live on Tuesday night, July 14, during the Michael Fairman Channel’s annual Daytime Emmy Nominations Special, she discussed her reaction to the news, her nominated reel and her GH co-stars.
GOING FOR EMMY GOLD
Setton explained how she found out she was a Emmy nominee! “Frank Valentini called me, our boss. It was such a beautiful moving moment. I’ve known Frank for 20 years and to share this with him, I’m indebted to him on a lot of levels. I was in the car with my husband. We were going for a hike. We got away for just a couple days, just the two of us. It was early in the morning and to share that moment with Frank, to share that moment with my husband, it was the best. We cried and I’m just so grateful.”
The Supporting Actress nominee shared what scenes she submitted: “My reel was obviously about the Gio storyline. It started with the scenes with Lulu (Alexa Havins) and shout out to Alexa! She’s the best. It’s when I first find out that she knows and that I had boy. Then, begging her not to tell Dante (Dominic Zamprogna) and just to leave it alone, then into the scenes with Rena Sofer, shout out to her! She is the best. I love her. I spoke to her today. She deserved to also be nominated. They are the scenes right after I find out at the Nurses’ Ball, and right after Brooklyn finds out that Gio is her son, not her cousin. Then my reel ended with the scene with Gio in the kitchen when Brook Lynn’s first sees him after the Nurses’ Ball and she says, ‘We can work this out,’ and he’s like, ‘No, we can’t,” and he walks away. It was an amazing story and kudos to the writers.”

CHOOSING THE RIGHT SCENES
It is always important in the Emmy game to put together a submission, so that someone who doesn’t watch the show day to day, can grasp the story of what’s happening to your character. Setton explained how she went about assembling the choices for her scenes. “Between Michelle Henry (producer, GH) and Frank, they said, ‘You need to tell the story. Find the scenes that tell the story.” Once I did it was clear to all of us, the story has been told,” shared Amanda.
“Anyone who’s watching this reel can get a feel for the intensity of the story. I think after even the first scene where you’re just like, ‘Wait a minute! This girl had a baby? She didn’t know if it was a boy or girl?’ Now this nemesis of her wants to … ‘What’s happening? What’s going on? And then the mom knew the story? ‘ So by the end, your heart’s just broken for this girl.”
Initially, Amanda like the viewers were trying to figure out how GH would make sense of the story, where suddenly years later we find out Brook Lynn got pregnant at summer camp by Dante! Setton said, “Once they (the writers) started building it out and you saw all the different relationships playing out between her and her mother, her and Dante, her and Lulu, her and Gio, her and her husband Chase (Josh Swickard), even Tracy (Jane Elliot), and then the fallout of all of it, it just touched so many characters on the canvas. I think it was like a huge juicy burger for the fans to just take a big bite.”

AMANDA SETTON TALKS ON HER TV SON GIOVANNI MAZZA
In addition to Amanda, both Giovanni Mazza and Braedyn Bruner (Emma) landed their first ever nominations in the Emerging Talent category. Setton shared how she and Mazza have developed such a close bond.
“Gio and I are super close. Right from the start, we just hit it off. He is such a delight. He’s so hardworking. He’s such an eager learner. He’s always looking to be better. He always wants to grow. That’s a huge testament to his work ethic,” explains Amanda. “He’s an amazing person, and over the last couple of years, we’ve had many deep conversations about work, about life, perspective, gratitude, values, a lot of different deep things. I could not be more thrilled for Gio and this moment for him. It is well deserved. He has worked so hard for it. I really hope he wins. Although, I also love Braedyn!”
One of the most unforgettable moments of 2025 in the soaps is when Gio takes to the Nurses’ Ball stage after overhearing Lulu and Lois talk that he is the biological son of Brook Lynn and Dante. Ready to begin to play his violin, he smashes it pieces and storms off. Setton was in the scene and recalls, “That was wild. He did such a great job with that. That is not an easy moment to hit, pun intended. He nailed it.”

THE CONNECTION WITH JANE ELLIOT
On General Hospital, Brook Lynn is close with her ‘Granny,” the one and only Tracy Quartermaine, and in real life Amanda is very close with Jane Elliot, with whom she was able to share the news of her nomination. “First of all, this woman has become one of my closest friends.”
Amanda adds, I’m not exaggerating. I am confident to say she would say the same. We’ve become really close friends outside of work. We speak, almost every day. We just went out to lunch last week. She’s become such a close person in my life over these last few years. She’s such a leader. Jane’s a really special person in my life after my family. I wanted to share the news of this nomination with her and she was over the moon.”
HARD WORK PAID OFF
Getting a pat on the back from her peers is one of the more touching moments in Amanda’s career, as she explains: “I have to say we’re in the daytime world, so for us it feels so wonderful and so rich. But in the landscape of the entertainment industry, in daytime, we’re in the trenches. We work really hard. We have a ton of pages. We have a ton of really high stakes, dramatic work to try to do in a grounded, authentic way, continuously every day on television. Not that it’s thankless, because thank God we are employed actors on a network TV show, and we are also grateful. But, I’m not going to lie, and say it doesn’t feel good to just get a little ‘thank you’ or like a little, ‘I see your work.’ It feels fulfilling.”
You can check out the full live interview with Amanda Setton at the 2:24:26 mark during the Daytime Emmy Nominations Special Live below, which featured 13 newly-nominated actors sharing their reactions and what they submitted for their reels the landed them a nomination at the upcoming 53rd annual Daytime Emmy Awards.
So, are you happy for Amanda that she finally secured her first ever Daytime Emmy nomination? Do you think she is one of the frontrunners for the gold for Outstanding Supporting Actress based on the emotional tale of Brook Lynn’s journey to learning she had a son and it was Gio Palmieri? Grady Eldridge Makes His ‘General Hospital’ Debut as Music Executive Simon

There’s another new face in Port Charles, when on today’s Wednesday, July 15 on General Hospital, Grady Eldridge made his debut as Simon, a new music executive, who is scouting talent for his record label.
According to Soap Opera Digest, Eldridge is on recurring status with the ABC soap opera, and in story, Simon is the A&R rep responsible for signing music acts and he enters the scene as Brook Lynn (Amanda Setton) sets up a musical showcase for Trina (Tabyana Ali) and Gio (Giovanni Mazza) who accompanies her on guitar. As the showcase kicks off, Simon arrives.
While his GH role marks his first on daytime, Grady can currently be seen in the final season of HBO’s comedy hit, Hacks. He has numerous credits in primetime including: Doctor Odyssey, The Sex Lives of College Girls and appeared as Max in the recently released in Jennifer Lopez’s movie office romance.
Eldridge joins several other newcomers have joined the ABC soap including: Dean Geyer as Dr. Tristan Roberts (who first showed up on Monday’s July 13 episode), and Troy Lennon Appel as mysterious businessman, Hudson who shows up later this month.
In addition, GH fans will get the chance to see Kayden Brenna Tokarski who takes over the role of Scout Cain, and Kelly Kruger (ex-Mackenzie Browning, The Young and the Restless) who is the recast Serena Baldwin, who debuts on July 30.
So, do you hope Simon sticks around Port Charles? Do you think Trina and Gio will become a major recording act, or will trouble be brewing with this new music executive, and Brook Lynn will spell t-r-o-u-b-l-e? Let us know your thoughts and impressions after checking out Grady on today’s GH via the comment section.

GENERAL HOSPITAL: Jason Tells Danny: ‘The Place They Were Holding Me Was Bad, Really Bad’

What happened to Jason Morgan (Steve Burton) when he was captivity by the WSB? That is the question on many minds of General Hospital viewers, especially following the airing of the Tuesday, July 14 episode of the ABC daytime drama series, which also received a nomination for Outstanding Drama Series for the 53rd annual Daytime Emmy Awards yesterday.
In story and in the pick-up of Monday’s episode, Danny (Asher Antonyzyn) comes face to face with his father at the Quartermaine boathouse. Jason assures his son that he is home for good. However, Jason is confused why the WSB suddenly released him from Jakarta in the last 48 hours.
Danny goes in on his father for taking the fall for Cullum’s shooting when it was Rocco who shot the now deceased WSB director. Jason tried to explain he had to make a last minute decision and didn’t want Rocco’s life to be ruined by shooting another man.

JASON WANTS TO TAKE A SHORT TRIP WITH DANNY
Jason promised Danny that from now on, he is his top priority, and that time away has given him a new perspective. When Danny tries to get more intel from his dad on what he went through, all Jason would say is, “The place they were holding me was bad, really bad.”
Danny admits that the person he told that Rocco shot Cullum was Port Charles bureau chief, Jack Brennan, but he told him that WSB would want Danny to drop the whole thing, and just leave it be now that Cullum is dead.
TRACY SEES JASON
Suddenly, Tracy (Jane Elliot) shows up and is happy to see that Jason has resurfaced saying she knew he would be back. As she welcomed him home, Jason has a favor to ask her.
Next, he proposes much to Danny’s happiness, that he and his son are going to away together for a few days to catch up on things. So, that there is no issue, Jason asks if Tracy can please tell Alexis that he has returned to Port Charles and anyone else that would need to know, so they are not concerned for Danny’s welfare and that they know he is with his dad. Tracy agrees, and she and Jason share a hug.
Now the question is, what happened to Jason? We know his face is beaten up. We saw in flashbacks he was held in a cell and we can see he had been experiencing what seems like PTSD from being in captivity.
Previously, GH co-head writer, Elizabeth Korte and Chris Van Etten previewed to Soap Opera Digest on Jason’s return, “His imprisonment has had a profound effect on his outlook and how he intends to conduct the rest of his life. His decision will have big implications for Danny, Britt, the Quartermaines, Anna and especially Sonny.”
So, what do you think happened to Jason while being held by the WSB? Did something horrific occur? Will Jason tell Sonny he can no longer work for him so he no longer puts himself or his family in any kind of danger? Share your thoughts via the comment section below.
