GENERAL HOSPITAL: Trina Leaps Into Spencer’s Arms, Valentin Says ‘Goodbye’ to Victor

After Monday’s episode of General Hospital aired, soap twitter was abuzz with the climatic final moment before its end.

For Sprina fans, it was a ‘must-see’ moment, cementing the already popular duo into the history of young supercouples on the long-running daytime drama series, currently celebrating its 60th year on TV.  Of course, we are referring to when Trina (Tabyana Ali) leaps into a very much alive Spencer Cassadine’s (Nicholas Chavez) arms and they passionately kiss.

How did we get there? Let’s recap. Following the drone attack of the Haunted Star and its wreckage, Valentin (James Patrick Stuart) informs Trina they need to return to Port Charles.  She is not going anywhere without Spencer. Trina tells Valentin and herself, she knows Spencer is alive, and she can feel it in her heart and soul. Cue a montage of the relationship between Spencer and Trina.  Meanwhile, Valentin attempts to get her to take Ace back to his mother, Esme.

The agent tells the two that they have recovered a body. Fearing the worst, the two head to check out the body bag.  When they unzip it, Trina is overjoyed and relieved that it’s Victor (Charles Shaughnessy) not Spencer.

Next, Valentin remains in the room with his dead father. He wonders what he’s supposed to say.  He says he’s grateful that Victor stayed away from him most of his life. Defiantly, Valentin promises to make sure future generations of Cassadines are proud of their name. Before he leaves, Valentin is happy to say, “Goodbye father.”

As they are led to the departing plane, Trina with Ace in tow, Valentin, and Laura (Genie Francis) are somber. But all of a sudden, a hand is seen behind the rocks, and Trina catches it.  She cries out, “Spencer!”  Then, Laura gasps in joy, and finally, Trina leaps and runs into Spencer’s arms and all is well for Sprina, for now.

What did you think about the final moment of the episode? Victor’s death? Share your thoughts in the comment section below, but first watch the scene and make sure to check out our latest interview with Nicholas Chavez here.

Well, it was a leap, alright. Looked like it could have gone really wrong with that impact…painfully so. But for some reason it reminded me of Shelley Winters’ heroic porpoise dive in “The Poseidon Adventure”. Not sure why.

I was thinking “I Had the Time of My Life” but your analogy is a lot more fun.

Soaphound,
Did you see Spencer stumble? I thought with that impact he’d go backwards.

Of course he stumbled … that jump wasn’t planned! I loved it!!!!

I know, Violet… I bet Spencer wished they’d used a stunt artist for that high dive!

Soaphound,
Was it just me or did Spencer have a little problem on Thurs., show, all bent over and not walking too well. Looked real to me and no one mentioned it, which made it more real. They did a good job with his face, poor guy really looked beat up.

What an ending to this storyline! I half expected Victor’s eyes to pop open and he’d really be alive. Not unheard of in daytime! And Valentin’s goodbye to his father was written so well. Not angry or vengeful. Just future generations will be better. The rescue in Greenland reminded me of the 80’s when Luke, Laura, Robert and Anna/Holly would have adventures. This was a great storyline and I’d like to see more like this.

Glad victor is gone! Trina and Spencer are the best couple on TV. I rewatched that last scene 3 times it gave me chills it was so good. Perfect scene.

The best I agree

Yes I loved every moment and the old school came together to help and how Trina and Spencer fought for each other I loved they way she has a connection with him deeper then you think and that leap scene how she ran to him and they kissed I felt that looks so authentic love you guys!

Yes I’m so glad that Trina got her Spencer back they make a good couple.

I’m gonna miss Charles Shaughnessy, he played a great villain, I can’t believe they killed off the best villain they’ve in quit a while, I know its a soap, so unless they moved him away somewhere quickly and revived him, he looked pretty dead to me. So who the creepers has Prince Nikolas? Helena was a hallucination so it wasn’t her, what other Villain is hiding and yet unseen?

Austin’s creepy cousin has Nikolas. They showed a scene of the two of them together several weeks ago.

Creepy is right. Let’s get back to some back burner stories. I have been very intrigued by Austin’s past. That cousin scares me to death!

I liked Charles Shaugnessy better when he was on Day’s Of Our Lives

Catherine,
Well of course, he plays a good guy on there, not a S.O.B.

So very happy Victor is out of the show, next to go that would make me so ecstatic is for Nina 2 leave, can’t stand her,I pray that Sonny & Carly get back together,I have watched GH every since it started,so I would hate 2 stopped watching it after all these yrs.

Stop hated

I agree Nina has got to go!!!

My dog Cerberus is really looking forward to getting a Nina chew toy soon.

Carly is a dirty sanctimonious bitch, she believes she is morally superior to other people a hypocritic to the umph..
She bulls her way into others’ lives with a destroy agenda..What she did to AJ stealing his son was evil, with Sonny but she had the power as the mother..
She did the same to Nina not telling her she had a daughter Nel.
Same as keeping Nina from her grandson and on and on it goes.
how soon ppl forget Carly is a dark bitch..
Poor Nina will lose Sonny because it is Carly and Sonny and the writers will never destroy that couple..
I hope Nina will get her pound of Carly flesh before the reuniting of
Carly and Sonny..
Now be nice to me sorry if I hurt feelings 🙂 lol

Satan,
I’d help believe me but at my age I might make it before Nina, and as much as I’d love meeting you, I’m hoping for a detour.

I liked Nina much better when she was played by Michelle Stafford & in love with Valentin. But she would have never fit with Sonny at all. I try to like this Nina because I really do feel sorry for what her horrible mother did to her but I just see Annie Dutton from GL who we absolutely loathed, ha. Ironic that this Carly & Nina were on GL together! Anyone else remember?

Gloria
I think of it just about every time I see them. There will never be another Annie Dutton, but Nina comes close except she isn’t always malicious as Annie was, she is clueless, thinking everything she does is o.k and the way she snoops around, eavesdropping on everyone.

Me too. That story is no unreal. Sonny even divorced Carly in the past for a lie, or withholding information, she knew Christina was his daughter, so him being with Nina now is a stupid story. I’m on hold until they get their writing back together. I’ve been watching General Hospital for over 48 years. That and Sam having left Jason, sorry but ride or die woman don’t change for anyone, not even their kids. Just bad writing.

Yes ! Carly belongs with Sonny. Nina has nothing on Carly.

Genie’s voice much have given out or she had some form of a cold, because her minimal -non speaking- appearance was rather peculiar. Otherwise, how do you explain Trina holding Ace the entire time and two characters that never interact – Valentin & Trina sharing pivotal moments?

As interesting as that story was, I’m finding it hard to stay awake for Michael and Willow. At this point, I wonder if there’s more viewers hoping that Willow died. Her pushing forgiveness for Sonny reminded me of Sabrina – and we remember her eventual outcome.

It was sooo cinematic and exciting! To find out that that wasn’t how it was rehearsed and was just in the moment, makes it extra special. Those two young actors are superb! I only hope we have them on GH for a long time to come. However, with their talent, I fear they’ll be gone sooner rather than later, as the world should be wide open for their talents.

I missed Mondays episode! Had no choice! But I do have Hulu. Yes!!! I’m So Glad Victor’s dead. N Valentin n Anna spared. N of course Trina n Spencer in each others arms…So Romantic. I’m glad everyone is safe n sound. On the other hand…I feel so BAD FOR NED. Everyone jumping conclusions he called the SEC on Carly n Drew. N Hoping that Willow n Michael will be in each others arms soon. Michael is a wreck. N Nina…well she has stepped onto a huge landmine by her own doing, because…she throws a temper tantrum over…Carly Always comes up smelling like a rose. Carly has suffered MUCH for her stupidity. Nina, stop being jealous or envious of Carly. M I’m hoping Carly n Sonny get together! Lol

I’m sorry, but I am NOT a Spencer fan!! NEVER liked him, NEVER will, (IMO), he’s just like his NO GOOD DADDY!! He’s just going to hurt that poor girl, (Trina), and leave her crying!! He’s got to prove me WRONG on that one!!

Loved the use of the veterans in this storyline, but I found Victor’s demise to be disappointing. I wanted to see one of our heroes take the man out, rather than just a drone attack. Perhaps a slow death scene, with Victor gloating that with him dead, no one will ever know the real fate of Luke Spencer. Was certain that he would die after telling someone that Luke was still alive.

I don’t think the truth about Luke’s alleged “death” has been told yet. There’s a reason why they recast Ethan as a blonde kid with curly hair, and also a reason that he disappeared so soon after Tracy “bought” him at the auction. I don’t believe Ethan is really going back to Australia to run a charity, I think he’s looking for dear old Dad. And hopefully he will bring his brother in on it. Lucky’s got some free time before he has to do that “Nashville reunion tour” in October. Just the perfect amount of time for him to do a summer story arc centered around the restoration of the Spencer family. They also need to get Lulu out of veggieland while they’re at it.

I used to think the 60th anniversary and revived IP storyline would eventually lead to an appearance by a live Luke Spencer. Based on interviews with the cast, I no longer think that’s the case. Geary has indicated retirement and it appears he is persona non grata at the show.

Victor’s demise and blowing The Haunted Star to smithereens are rather symbolic. New Ethan was likely introduced because NP decided he didn’t want to come back for 2 episodes with hardly any lines.

One of Laura’s kids needs to head back to PC. Problem is Genie’s annual 3-4 month sabbatical is approaching fast. Wonder what cockamamie plan Chris & Dan come up for her absence this year?

Likelihood on first returning:
Nikolas: 80%
Lulu: 18%
Lucky: 2%

Maybe Luke will return and kiss his sleeping princess out of her coma.

They could at least bring Lulu back. I don’t care for Sam and Dante as a couple, not that Lulu and Dante would get together, but one can hope. Sam never should have split from Jason and Jason never should of been killed off over some stupid reason like not taking the Covid shot. Seems like the writers don’t want ANY couples to stay together. What a crock.

Bill W.,
I agree, thought the same thing but than thought maybe there’s a reason to all this, he really isn’t dead?? No autopsy report and the way Spencer shoved his uncle’s head into that bar could really have killed him, and no mention of that, so he wasn’t entirely blameless.

It was perfect. Well acted. Well played. So
Romantic you guys! Touched my ❤️. Let’s see some more, please?

I am over the “Trina” show. She has been front & center for too long. The sex tape thing, the paternity thing, if I hear her parents calling her baby girl one more time . . . She does not go with Spencer. They look horrible together. The relationship seems forced. Plus Ava acting like Trina’s the 2nd coming. Everything is Trina. Enough.

The Trina show, lol. Please. Most would consider GH the Carly and crew show. Please take your hatred somewhere else. Trina isnt featured anymore than Spencer and certainly not more than Willow or the others.

Sal,
Well, a little bit of her goes a long way, I can’t stand her either.

Gloria,
Just one big DITTO to you.

Thank you Violet. And I don’t see where I expressed “hatred”. Just an opinion.

Gloria,
Don’t worry about it. The minute we express a dislike or disapproval of something, we are accused of hatred.

Glad Victor is out of the picture. He was getting on my last nerve….

‘General Hospital’s’ Steve Burton Shares Reaction to His Lead Actor Daytime Emmy Nomination, ‘It Was to Honor Leslie Charleson’

Published

The 53rd Annual Daytime Emmy Award nominations kicked-off on Monday with the announcements of four major categories including, Outstanding Lead Performer in a Daytime Drama Series — Actor, and among the nominees is General Hospital’s Steve Burton (Jason Morgan).

Burton is already a two-time Daytime Emmy winner in the Supporting Actor category for his roles as GH’s Jason and his turn as Dylan McAvoy on Y&R. However, Steve is yet to win in the Lead Actor category and he has received 11 nominations along the way in his daytime career.

Following the reveal that he is a 2026 Daytime Emmy nominee, he and his GH co-star, podcast co-host and comedy show partner, Bradford Anderson (Spinelli) taped a special edition of their That’s Awesome podcast just featuring Burton’s reaction to the news.

Photo: JPI

FOR LESLIE CHARLESON

Steve expressed, “I know it’s such a cliche to say, ‘I’m just so honored to be nominated.’ But truly, I’m so grateful to be nominated, so grateful to just be on the show off and on for 30 plus years and to be nominated with the guys in my category. Just to get the opportunity. Frank (Valentini, executive producer, GH) texted me right away. I was just like, ‘Thank you for the opportunity to get to do what I do.'”

Taking in the moment, Burton thanked those who helped him select the material for his nominated reel. “Unless you win, you don’t get to say things. So. I’m going just say a few things: Elizabeth Korte (co-head writer, GH) helped me a lot with the material, (as did) Michelle Henry, who’s a producer on the show, Laura Wright (Carly, GH), and then my wife Michelle (Lundstrom). I believe it was Jill Phelps who told me that when A Martinez felt like he had a great show or great scenes, he would mark it down. So, when Emmy time comes, you have all the show numbers written down, and you don’t have to think about it, because that’s half the battle (finding the material).

Burton explained how meaningful this nomination is for him, because of playing the scenes of Jason losing Monica, and his closeness with the late, great Leslie Charleson.

“The nomination’s an amazing thing, and it’s beautiful, but really it’s to honor Leslie Charleson. A lot of my material was because of her, and how I started on the show as a Quartermaine, it just means a ton,” shared Burton. “Maurice Benard (Sonny, GH) has obviously has been instrumental, and I’ve said it from day one and I’ll shout it from the rooftops. If it wasn’t for him, I wouldn’t be here, and to be working with the people that we work with is incredible.”

SHOULD JOHN OLIVER BE NAMED HOST OF THE DAYTIME EMMYS?

During the end of his conversation with Anderson, Steve suggested that the host of the Daytime Emmy should be Last Week Tonight’s John Oliver, who recently guest starred as the head of the WSB named Z on General Hospital, and is soon to show up on Days of Our Lives in a mystery role in August.

Thus far, the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences has not revealed their host for the upcoming ceremony to be held on October 30 in a venue to be named in Hollywood, California.

You can watch Steve sharing his reaction to receiving his 2026 Lead Actor Daytime Emmy nomination below on a special segment on the That’s Awesome podcast.

Now let us know, are you glad that Steve chose scenes surrounding Jason mourning the loss of the woman that raised him, Monica Quartermaine for his Emmy reel? What do you think of John Oliver as a suggestion to host the Daytime Emmys? Weigh-in via the comment section below.

GENERAL HOSPITAL: Jason Reconnects with Danny; Tristan Roberts Arrives in Port Charles, Lots of Nods to #16

Published

By

General Hospital’s 16,000th episode was packed with little reminders through points in today’s script that the ABC daytime drama series has set another milestone and it paved the way for the return of fan favorite and newly nominated Daytime Emmy Lead Actor nominee Steve Burton (Jason Morgan). The 16,000th episode also introduced viewers to the new surgeon in Port Charles Dr. Tristan Roberts played by Dean Geyer.

Here are the key takeaways and what went down on the July 13 episode: Tristan and Jason are seated next to each other on a plane heading to Port Charles. Throughout the flight, a beaten up Jason has flashbacks to being thrown into, and being held captive in a cell and tortured. It appears Jason is suffering from some form of PTSD from what he was put through after being dragged out of Port Charles by the WSB months ago.

As the plane prepares to land, Tristan tells Jason there would be a car waiting for him once they land and to enjoy the rest of his life. Later, Tristan arrives at the nurses and doctors hub at GH and approaches Elizabeth (Rebecca Herbst). He tells her his name and that he is the new surgeon on staff.

A REUNION PLUS A HEAD NURSE DEFENDS SONNY

Meanwhile, at the end of the episode, Jason is outside the Quartermaine boathouse looking bewildered when he runs into Danny (Asher Antonyzyn), who is so thrilled to see his father, and the two hugs each other as tears are shed.

Elsewhere, Elizabeth tells Sonny (Maurice Benard) that he thinks its a great idea for him to get the 16th seat on the hospital board, but when it comes times to convince Tracy Quartermaine (Jane Elliot) of that, things go awry when Tracy, Laura and Sonny try to work things out. After Tracy launches into Sonny about killing Alan and Monica’s son AJ, Sonny walks away dejected.

Next, Sonny runs into Elizabeth, where he informs her what happened with Tracy. So what’s a head nurse to do? Elizabeth marches into the conference room and reminds Tracy of all the different donations and ways Sonny has contributed to the hospital from the Stone Cates AIDS wing, to the Michael Corinthos Center for Pediatric Head Injuries as well as his constant support each year for the GH Nurses’ Ball.

WSB WAR SCARS

Then, in one of the best parts for longtime fans of the series, Elizabeth talks about her legendary grandparents, Audrey and Steve Hardy and she tells Tracy they would have wanted Sonny to have a seat on the board for all the good that he has done for the hospital. After Elizabeth states Sonny’s case, things took a turn and Tracy and Sonny wound up shaking hands as Sonny is board member #16.

In the how great was it to see Anna (Finola Hughes) and Valentin (James Patrick Stuart) together scenes department, the pick-up of last Friday’s cliffhanger is played out as the two former lovers fill each other in on what has gone down in their lives in the last several months including Valentin admitting he had been living in Carly’s attic, and Anna realizing she was kidnapped by Cullum, Sidwell and Cassius Faison. During their conversation, Anna sees the hallucination of Peter August (Wes Ramsey) right while Valentin is standing there.

Courtesy/ABC

Later Anna was on her way to saying goodbye to Valentin, when the two share an emotional hug. After Valentin made his exit, Peter reappeared and warned Anna to not let Valentin distract her because she has important work to do. Anna answers, “I know.”

So, what did you think of General Hospital’s 16,000 episode? What do you think is wrong with Jason? What is the important “work” that Anna has to do? Were you glad to see Sonny get a seat on the hospital board, or not so much. Weigh-in via the comment section. But first, check out the scenes on Jason and Tristan’s long flight to Port Charles.
