‘General Hospital’ Favorite Tristan Rogers Reveals Cancer Diagnosis
In heartbreaking news on Thursday, General Hospital’s Tristan Rogers (Robert Scorpio) has come forward and revealed he has been diagnosed with cancer. The last time viewers of the ABC daytime drama series saw the character of Scorpio was when he left Port Charles along with Holly Sutton (played by Emma Samms) back in November of 2024.
Now comes word via a statement released by Rogers publicist, Anthony Turk, which expressed the following: “Beloved Emmy winning actor Tristan Rogers, best known for his role as Robert Scorpio on the daytime drama, General Hospital is sharing with fans that has been diagnosed with cancer. While he remains hopeful and is working closely with his medical team on a treatment plan, this is a challenging time for Tristan and his family.”
The statement on Rogers health statement went on to say, “As they face both the emotional and physical burdens that come with this diagnosis, the family kindly asks for privacy and understanding. They are deeply grateful for the outpouring of support and love from their friends and family Tristan sends his love to his fans and wants them to know how much he appreciates their loyalty and encouragement over the years. The support means more to him now than ever.” According to Turk, “Future updates will be shared if deemed appropriate by Tristan and his family.”

Rogers first appeared on General Hospital back in 1980 as Robert Scorpio, and has been with the daytime drama series, on and off, at various times through the decades. He also had appeared on The Young and the Restless as Colin Atkinson a role he played from 2010-2012, 2014-17, and 2019.

In addition, Tristan has appeared in the streaming series, The Bay as Lex Martin, and won a Daytime Emmy for his role as Doc in another digital drama, Sean Kanan’s Studio City, back in 2019 in the category of Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Digital Drama Series.
Michael Fairman TV sends our thoughts and prayers to Tristan and his loved ones during this difficult time.
Now below, share your thoughts and messages for Tristan as he battles cancer, and what his performances as Robert Scorpio have meant to you over the years, via the comment section.
I am so sorry to hear this news. I am not surprised. He did not look well that last time we saw him. My prayers and well wishes to him and his family. Tristan, please know how very much you are missed and loved.
I am so sorry to hear this Tristan! You are one of my favorite actors on GH and have been since stepping foot in PC. I am praying for you and your family!!
Sad news. Sending prayers.
I am sorry to read of this new challenge faced by Tristan and his family. He has been missed on the show. Offering my prayer for healing in all ways.
Love this character but thought he looked sick the last time he left with Holly. Please know all of Tristan’s fans pray he can handle the treatment and go into remission. We have lost too many on GH in the last few years. God Bless you in this journey. I know it’s difficult as I have leukemia.
So sorry to hear this. Like another poster said, he didn’t seem well the last time he was on GH. Sending positive thoughts and love to Tristan and his family
Tristan appeared at the end of todayś show.
I just spoilers. Not.
Prayers for him and his family
Let’s hope Tristan is able to fight this dreaded disease.
I hope he knows how much he is admired by the millions of fans who’ve enjoyed his stellar work throughout the years.
Saddened, but not surprised to read this. He clearly did not look healthy during his last run on GH.
Hope his treatment goes well and he’s able to return one day. Devils don’t pray, but I’m not going to oppose anybody else doing so, if they are so inclined.
Can’t drop the shtick for one post to wish someone well?
It really is getting old.
What a pure JOY it was after reading this article to see Tristan at the end of Thursday July 17th episode when Sasha arrived at his house.
Curious timing of this announcement that the news drops the same day he makes an appearance. The show hasn’t aired down here yet, but I’m guessing this was a 2 second, non speaking cameo at the end of the show (much like when Luke showed up, but said nothing, when Tracy “retired” to Amsterdam a few years back).
Perhaps the announcement was a way to explain why we probably won’t be seeing Robert again, at least for the time being, aside from this brief appearance?
Now on the other horn, from a storyline perspective, this makes 666% sense. Jason wasn’t about to escort Sasha & Daisy out of the country and just leave them unprotected all alone. So leaving them in the hands of the most legendary WSB agent of all time is a no brainer.
Oh I haven’t seen the episode yet and I’m so happy hear that’s where Sasha went and that they showed Tristan. That is lovely! Tristan is tough and can get through this. We’ll all keep praying as he is so well-loved and needed. 🙂
I would have cried even had I not known about his diagnosis. Robert Scorpio has that effect on me. I love the character and the actor.
Sending healing vibes your way Tristan. Loved you as Scorpio. I became a member of your fan club in the early ’80’s. Had your 8×10 on my wall. Wishing you good days ahead.
I am sorry to hear about this and wish him well.
Sending out good vibes and prayers to Tristan and his family during this challenging time.
This sucks, very sad to read this awful news. Sending Tristan positive thoughts that he’ll be able to beat this much like his TV brother John York beat his cancer battle. Hope we’ll be able to see him in Port Charles again in the future, but if not, they gave Robert and Holly a good exit. Best wishes to you, Tristan You got this!
Very sorry to hear this news Tristan was my first soap opera crush !! Prayers extended to him and his family
Mine too! I liked him better than Luke and Laura! He had me the first time he erupted out of the fog on the docks wearing his London Fog rain coat. So damn handsome and charismatic.
God be with you. Sending prayers.
Hate, hate HATE this! Tristan is a legend, and a major reason that I still care about soaps. Been missing Robert in Port Charles, but I rather suspected he was having health issues. Please know, sir, that we’re praying for your recovery. You’ve been part of many families around the world for over 40 years, and there’s a lot of love for you out here among your fans!
Tristan you have delighted and inspired me since I was 5 years old. I pray for your comfort and recovery. My heart is with you and your family
I have loved Tristan’s portrayal of Robert Scorpio, literally, since he first began on GH. Deeply saddened by this news. Sending SO many prayers. Love, light and positive energy heading your way, Tristan.
I’m hoping his feisty fighting spirit will defeat the damn cancer. I head the news before I watched the end of GH. Needless to say, I was very surprised and very moved. Love the ole Aussie bloke.
Sending lots of love and prayers.
I am heartbroken for Tristan. He follows me on X (formerly Twitter). As a fellow Gemini who admires and has adored Scorpio for many moons, especially with Holly Sutton…I pray he gets treated and cured. I am a 36-year survivor of tongue cancer myself. God bless Tristan and his family!
We Love Robert / Tristan thru the years , we have you covered with our ❤️
It was wonderful to see him on GH this past week to help with the exit of Sofia Mattsson. Hoping once he completes his treatment he can come back to GH even if for periodic periods.
