GENERAL HOSPITAL: What are Your First Impressions of Charles Mesure as ‘Mr. Brennan’?
There’s a new villain in town and things are about to get turned upside down for Anna Devane (Finola Hughes), Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard) and Curtis Ashford (Donnell Turner) as General Hospital circles back around to the looming mysterious ‘Pikeman’ story and who was the target of the shooting at the Metro Court that put Curtis in a wheelchair.
Last Friday, and into yesterday’s Tuesday, December 5th episode of the ABC daytime drama series, viewers were introduced to “Mr. Brennan” who has to turn out to be the dastardly “Pikeman.”
If his portrayer looks familiar, actor Charles Mesure has appeared in numerous television series and film roles including: Once Upon a Time, Castle, The Mentalist, Desperate Housewives, Bones and more. Mesure is also British-born, but moved to Australia when he was younger, accounting for the fabulous accent “Mr Brennan” has on GH.

In story on GH, as Sonny was telling “Mr. Brennan’s” minion, Hume that he would no longer run Pikeman’s shipments through his territory, the guy showed up at Kelly’s Diner with an ominous message for Carly (Laura Wright), although she doesn’t know it.
On Tuesday, in his room at the Metro Court, Brennan is upset that Sonny won’t work with him and tells Hume he plans to stay in Port Charles to make sure the shipments to Canada are ready to go. We also learn that apparently the head of the WSB has taken a leave of absence. Brennan reveals that being the director has its benefits. He then says he got rid of Frisco and he can work remotely and now things are falling into place.
Hume asks Brennan who the intended target is in all of this, and he says both Sonny and Anna. “Brennan’s” goal is to force Sonny’s hand to continue the shipments and more. Meanwhile, Curtis on the case as to who is behind his shooting and more.

No, he told one of his guys that he works for Pikeman. He actually has a job with the company Anna worked for that tried to kill her. He’s there to find the file that Charlotte stole that’s still in her back pack.

Same here, I attended Luke and Laura’s rape and first wedding. I don’t think they are gonna let Carly and Sonny get back together anytime soon if they ever do now that this new guy is in the picture. I hope they find a way for him to hook up with Carly. I like Sonny with Nina.

I totally agree. I can’t stand Carly, she’s awful, and I loathe when she’s with Sonny. I like Sonny and Nina. I hope they keep Mr. Brennan, I’ve been a fan of Charles Mesure for years, he’s great.

I was hoping Pikeman would turn out to be either Alcazar or Faith Rosco (or both!) back from the dead to get revenge on Sonny. What a fantastic team up that would be. Then again, it’d be a shame to bring them both back when Jason is MIA (no way he’s actually dead), given his history with both of them.
I’m hoping they find a way to connect Pikeman with more characters on the canvas, and don’t turn him into a cartoon villain. GH tends to do well with stories like these, so I’m looking forward to seeing where it goes.

He’s on a different soap opera now, so let him stay where he is! I was one of his biggest fans and I got the damn shot so he could’ve gotten it!

When Jason comes back, it will be the real deal. They already tried a recast, and they had to create some really weird plot points to dig their way out of that one.
And nobody’s going to believe that Susan Moore gave birth to triplets and gave away two of them.

General rule of thumb – don’t ask questions you can easily google. Faith was a mob rival of Sonny’s in the early 2000’s.

So this guy claims to be both the head of the WSB and the leader of Pikeman? Nope… not buying that. For one thing, they spent a whole year building up this “Pikeman” thing, and the whole story was pretty much tailor-made for nobody BUT Lorenzo Alcazar, and if they pull another bait & switch with this now (like they did with the mysterious female boss of the “Pawtuck mafia” that we’re now supposed to forget ever existed) then it’s just another sign that GH actually WANTS to get cancelled.
Also… we all know intelligence agencies do bad things. I have entire circles of Hell that are full of such people. But they’re also smart enough to leave a layer of “plausible deniability” between themselves and whatever dark business they are involved in. A mercenary weapons smuggling cabal, in this case. So while Brennan might be in Port Charles on Pikeman business, that doesn’t mean he’s running Pikeman. I’m still going with Alcazar for that one…. and I still think Kristina’s new girlfriend “Blaze” is his daughter… possibly a SORASed Lila Rae.
I give up anymore trying to figure out who’s who but I was actually thinking Blaze might be Sonny’s spawn, but from whom? What a mess that would be. I was dying to find out who the Pawtucket female boss was, we know it isn’t the Humingbird Cake lover mama.
They wouldn’t let Blaze and Christina be kissing if they were sisters.

I still blame disjointed storylines on the writers strike and replacement writers… but am more than willinf to stay with GH and let it get back on track.

Wouldn’t this episode still be considered being written under the writers strike dates? Once the actual writers come back, they could scrap some or all of pikeman. Did that what, 13-ish yrs ago. Don’t think this show will be cancelled anytime soon.
We are still seeing episodes written by the replacement writers. You can tell at the beginning of the episode when the credits go right from Frank to the director of that day’s show.
Guessing we’re nearing the regular writers return as it’s been 2 months since that strike settled.
Apparently the preview clips for Friday’s episode have Tracy on an airplane bound for Port Charles looking very sad… so I’m guessing the Bobbie death bomb is about to drop, and that is probably evidence of the “real writers” scripts being used.
Given the usual 2-3 month turn around from scripts being written to taping to airdate, I was expecting they would still be on scab scripts through the Helliday season, but I cannot imagine they would trust the scabs to write in Bobbie’s death. Especially since it has been avoided for several months BECAUSE of the strikes.
After killing Britt last New Years and baby Liam at Christmas before, I would be surprised if they had Bobbie die during the holidays. Thinking it’s more January or February sweeps. Imagine some returns for the service like Noah Drake, Jake Meyer? Terry Brock? and somebody playing Lucas.
On British soaps, it’s almost a tradition to have a big death at the holidays each year. Maybe GH is picking that up, lol!
I think that’s just speculation that Bobbie’s death was avoided because of the strike. No one from the show has said that. It’s far more likely that a) they didn’t want another big onscreen death after they pulled out all the stops for Epiphany’s passing; and b) we do know the story lines were already outlined for months ahead so they didn’t have a way to cram in a major death.
I would think we would hear something about a Lucas recast, even if it’s just for a few days like the last sighting of Ethan, before Bobbie’s death starts playing out.
If they let scab writers make a mess out of the passing of a 45+ year veteran of this show, all HELL would break loose. They weren’t dumb enough to try that.
It was just an awful coincidence that Jackie Zeman happened to die right around the same time that the writers strike began, so the decision was probably made right away to not deal with her passing on the show until after the strike.
And they definitely do need to bring back Lucas for her memorial. Also his namesake uncle… who we all know is not actually dead. Trust me, I would know if he were!
Would Luke “stay dead” if he knew how much the old witch Tracy is suffering. She wasn’t faking her mourning as she broke down crying on the plane.
When they eventually address Bobbie’s passing, it would be highly beneficial if only for a few days to have Ryan Carnes or even Ben Hogestyn back so they can use flashbacks. Only if there’s a long-term plan for Lucas should they consider a recast.
If Alcazar is the hand behind this mess, the gates of hell couldn’t keep him from moving on Carly.

Why should I stop watching? Unlike most of these Nina cult members who never saw a single episode of GH before February 2012, GH has been airing in Hell since 1978 or so, right around the time the Spencers & Quartermaines showed up.

I don’t know why all these sights are saying that Brennan is pikeman because in the scene in his room when he was talking to his minion he said that he was the director of the wsb and that he was in charge of providing the shipping for pikeman so that right there tells you he isn’t pikeman

A reasonable assumption, given the Aussie accent. Except for the fact that Jax isn’t likely to ever be seen in Port Charles again, so bringing him into the storyline – even in absentia – would be pointless.
On the other horn… did you notice how soon Brennan ducked out of Kelly’s when Robert Scorpio walked in? Looks like there’s some history there, and it might not just be the coincidence that both have been employed by the WSB.
What’s Jerry Jack’s up to? I’ve read that he’s involved in this mess.

I thought this Mr. Brennan was the cat’s P.Js, at first until we found out who he really is, and most likely the one that burned Anna’s house down, shot Curtis, etc. I don’t see him having anything to do with Charlotte, and would bet its still Grandfather leading her into whatever mayhem she causes.
Only been on a few episodes, but I’m loving this actor!! Very convincing, imo. Can’t wait to see what’s coming next with him and the rest of the storylines!!

Jerry has never been in Port Charles when his brother wasn’t around, so it seems unlikely that he would show up now. Also unlikely that he would have plastic surgery AGAIN.
Jerry would also never be the head of the WSB under any circumstances. Or the head of Pikeman for that matter. He was always the mercenary for hire type, not the guy who was actually giving the orders.
I read that also, and even if they changed him physically, it would be a miracle to change his obnoxious and disgusting personality to someone who acts human. No way in hell could I ever believe this suave, distinguished man is Jerry Jacks.

Some people accused him of “playing favorites”, but at least he could write coherent storylines. Well, except for that Balkan mess, which is what got him fired, but he’s had 12 years to recover from that. I’m sure he could come up with some new material by now.

While he could write some blockbuster stories, Guza wrote off too many Quartermaines and had the mob front and center for too long. To his credit, he paired Robin & Patrick. To his detriment, he kept certain secondary characters (Courtney) around way too long.
If Frank wants to keep GH on the air, surely he knows something has got to change, and that must have something to do with why he let Roger Howarth go. There are some other post February 2012 hires that should be next up for that.
But the storylines are pretty much dragonshit right now. Guza’s got a proven track record (as I said, outside of that Balkan mess) so why not give him a shot? Even the GH veterans seem to like Frank as a producer, so I’m sure they would be able to answer any questions he might have about working with Guza, if he had any doubts.
Most of the veterans were written out (or in some cases played against character) under Guza. By the end of his run, Tracy and Edward were the only Qs living in the mansion (unlike her current situation, LC was available but they chose not to use Monica). Ned, Bobbie and Felicia were exiled – the later only brought back temporarily for the poor decision to kill Georgie. The only veteran who might praise Guza would be Benard.
Some of that may have been more dictated by Phelps, but the head writer can think of more creative ways to write off characters.
I know he’s a criminal but I wish he wasn’t. He and Carly have off the chart chemistry. Maybe he can be reformed and Drew can dissappear while on his trip.

Bring him back as someone else entirely or a long lost Quartermaine triplet….after all everyone knows Heather is crazy. Or maybe Austin had a twin. They do run in the family. Lol. Think about it. You could have him be the guy that always gets killed. It could be so much fun.
But keep the new guy for the long run for sure.
And PLEASE bring back Roger. Talk about redeeming. I’ve loved his acting since OLTL.
OH and let’s pair up Cassie DePaiva with Micheal Knight again. That was fun.

Not a fan of of this storyline. It would be fine in a Jason Bourne film, but this is General Hospital. A soap I’ve watched for over 40 years. There’s a feel and an energy and a certain romantic atmosphere those of us that are long time viewers have come to associate with and expect from this soap. But ever since the writing staff changed it hasn’t been the same. Getting rid of Jason was a bad mistake. And the interactions between the main characters who remain it’s just not the same. For newcomers watching it may be entertaining. But for us old viewers you can tell the difference. The return of Jason would send ratings through the roof because long time fans would return. Just a suggestion.

On the heels of the news that he is set to debut this month in the role of Joe Fitzpatrick on General Hospital, who is rumored to be a new love interest for Lucas Jones (Van Hansis), comes the news that Bennett’s reality series, Finding Mr. Christmas has received 3 nomination for the Critics Choice Real TV Awards.
Bennett’s Hallmark Channel series finds itself in tough competition alongside fellow nominees: RuPaul’s Drag Race (MTV), Squid Game: The Challenge (Netflix), Survivor 50 (CBS), Top Chef (Bravo) and The Traitors (Peacock). In addition, Jonathan himself is nominated for Best Show Host and the series participants as the Best Ensemble Cast in an Unscripted Series.
The Critics Choice Association (CCA) revealed the nominees for the eighth annual Critics Choice Real TV Awards on Thursday, which recognize excellence in nonfiction, unscripted and reality programming across broadcast, cable and streaming platforms. Bennett is very familiar to daytime fans having started his career as JR Chandler on All My Children in 2000-2001, before landing the part of Aaron Samuels in the motion picture, Mean Girls in 2004 starring Lindsay Lohan, which would become his breakout performance.

‘General Hospital’s’ Kelly Thiebaud on Britt and Cassius Sibling Drama, But Who Will Ultimately Blow His Cover?
On the April 30 episode of General Hospital, Britt (Kelly Thiebaud) had some choice words and warning for her brother Cassius Faison (Ryan Paevey) who has been masquerading as his twin, the very dead, Nathan West.
As the story has unfolded, viewers learned that Britt knew all along that when “Nathan” showed up in Port Charles seemingly resurrected with a missing 7 years of his life unexplained, that Cassius was taking his place.
Now in developments on today’s GH, Josslyn Jacks (Eden McCoy) is figuring out that this guy pretending to be Nathan is someone else, and Cassius learns from Britt, that Joss is not just a ditzy sorority girl as he claimed, but a WSB agent! The moment stuns Cassius. Are the walls about to close in on him and his charade?

Daytime Emmy winner, Kelly Thiebaud spoke to Soap Opera Digest, about the story point and getting the opportunity this time back at GH to work with Ryan Paevey, when she hadn’t had the chance to before.
BROTHERLY LOVE?
Thiebaud expressed on sharing scenes with Ryan Paevey, “It’s just been so wonderful to have him back and to actually work with him! When he first came onto the show (as Nathan at the end of 2013) I was kind of heading out — it was right towards the end of my contract, so we didn’t actually work together a ton. It’s been really refreshing and so much fun to really spend time together and get to know each other and work together. I think we have really great on-camera chemistry and banter with each other. I really enjoy working with him.”
With the stakes at an all-time, Thiebaud explained how she views her on-screen alter-ego’s involvement with her more hot-to-temper sibling and why Britt revealed the truth about Josslyn to him. “People finding out about Cassius would expose what she’s involved in and what she agreed to do,” explains Kelly “And now Josslyn is digging around, and she’s connected to Carly (Laura Wright) to Jason (Steve Burton) and that whole dynamic! It’s messy!”
BRITT’S MURKY FUTURE
Britt has currently also reached her breaking point with Jason being carted away by the WSB, Rocco (Finn Carr), the child she gave birth to, shooting Cullum (Andrew Hawkes) to protect her and Jason, Marco (Adrian Anchondo) being killed after trying to help her, and Cullum holding over her head getting her Huntington’s disease medication to control her symptoms, while blackmailing her into finishing the research on her father, Cesar Faison’s, final project. Thiebaud summed it up best for Britt right now, sharing, “It’s been a really tough time for her.”

GENERAL HOSPITAL: Michael Reveals His Plan to Set Up Chase and Willow to Have an Affair
After the Wednesday, April 29 episode of General Hospital, it’s clear outside interference and other circumstances are set to blow Chase (Josh Swickard) and Brook Lynn’s (Amanda Setton) marriage sky high, as Michael (Rory Gibson) reveals his plans to entrap Willow (Katelyn MacMullen) and use her relationship with Chase to do it!
In story, Michael dropped by unexpectedly to Carly’s (Laura Wright). A plotting Michael reveals his plan to nudge Willow and Chase into having an affair. Michael hopes it would create both a political and personal scandal, where Willow would lose her seat in congress. In the scenario, she would be having an affair with her ex-husband, while taking care of her supposed disabled husband, Drew (Cameron Mathison), who cannot speak and is confined to a wheelchair, which in turn will look horrible for Willow’s character.
Carly asked does he really want to destroy his cousin, Brook Lynn’s life in the process? Michael goes in on Chase’s holier than thou attitude, and says he is going to set-up the circumstances that would lead Chase and Willow to betray their spouses, and hit the sheets together. Michael swears to Carly what the two of them do is up to them, but he’s going to go on the offense with this.
MICHAEL HAS BACK-UP
Later, Jacinda (Paige Herschell) is talking with Charlotte (Bluesy Burke) at Crimson and how much she dislikes Willow because of what she has done to Michael. Just then, Michael shows up and tells Jacinda privately, he’s figured out a way to fight Willow. Looks like Jacinda might work with Michael to bring down Willow and use Chase as the person to do it!
At the hospital, Lucas (Van Hansis) tells Josslyn (Eden McCoy) that Carly is cheating on Jack, but he doesn’t know with who. Josslyn suddenly flashes back to the moment she found her mother harboring a fugitive, Valentin Cassadine (James Patrick Stuart), in her attic, and as figured out that her mother is sleeping with him. She heads out.

BRENNAN IS ABOUT TO LEARN ABOUT CARLY
Next thing you know, Josslyn has showed up inside Jack’s (Chris McKenna) hotel room at the Metro Court and when he enters his room, he is shocked to find her there. He lays into her for not keeping his distance and that Cullum (Andrew Hawkes) will have no problem killing her if he knows she’s WSB. Josslyn fires back that he is only concerned about that because his relationship with her mother depends on her being safe. But then, she lays the boom, and tells Jack, Well, you’re too late. You already lost her.”
LULU GETS A GLIMPSE OF CASSIUS’ TEMPER
In addition, Lulu (Alexa Havins) sees a different side of “Nathan.” Since she is unaware that the man before her is his twin, Cassius Fasion (Ryan Paevey), he tells her that Rocco (Finn Carr) blabbed that he shot Cullum to Britt (Kelly Thiebaud), and now he thinks they should send him away to stop him from talking to everyone else. This concerns Lulu, who rails at Nathan for telling her what to do with her son and that she isn’t going to abandon him. With “Nathan’s” outburst at her on the matter, will she finally get a clue this is not the man she thinks it is?
