GENERAL HOSPITAL: After a Week of Episodes, What are You First Impressions of Rory Gibson as the New Michael Corinthos?
After Friday’s May 30th episode of General Hospital, Rory Gibson will have aired in his first full week as the new Michael Corinthos replacing Daytime Emmy winner, Chad Duell in the role.
Gibson, who soap fans first took notice of for his previous daytime role as Noah Newman on The Young and the Restless from 2021-2023, replaced Duell who had been in the part of Sonny (Maurice Benard) and Carly’s (Laura Wright) son for over 15 years; until he exited the series late last year and finished his on-screen run this January.
GH set up Michael’s return through an exciting and emotional series of episodes after his re-emergence on to the canvas in the climatic conclusion of the 2025 GH Nurses’ Ball last Friday. However, it wasn’t until this Monday that GH fans saw Gibson in actual scenes with many of the key co-stars within his storyline.

This week, we saw Michael lay the smackdown on Willow (Katelyn MacMullen) that he will be aiming to win full custody of their children, Amelia and Wiley, unless she dumps Drew (Cameron Mathison). Willow chose to stick by Drew. Michael was also reunited with his mother, Carly and forgave her for her plans to move forward with the custody hearing without him, and shared hugs and ‘thank you’s’ for the man who raised him as a baby, Jason Morgan (Steve Burton) for all of his help getting him back safely to Port Charles.

In those scenes, Jason listens as Michael lets him know his feelings for Willow’s betrayal and what he intends to do – to get full custody of his kids. Meanwhile, Michael also sees Sasha (Sofia Mattsson) for the first time since leaving for Germany for his burn treatments. He can now see for himself that Sasha is showing and several months along carrying his child.

It is evident that Michael wants to be a father to his unborn child, if Sasha gives him the green light, but so far she hasn’t although, it would seem she is more conflicted than ever about Michael. Gibson has also showed his fatherly side and how he can work with child actors in scenes with young Amelia and Wiley.
Now get ready as the custody case is before us, which looks like it will bring to light bombshell revelations including; that Sasha is actually carrying Michael’s baby and more.
So, now that you have seen a bit more of Rory mixing it up with several of his co-stars and characters in the storyline of Michael Corinthos, what are you first impressions? Are you excited about what’s to come as played by nuMichael? Weigh-in via the comment section below.
Amazing casting! Rory is going to shine in next week’s court scenes. His chemistry with Carly, Willow, Wylie, Jason and Sasha is fantastic.
I agree on the amazing casting & chemistry with the other actors! Plus, he’s super cute and easy on the eyes! 🙂
Love him as Michael
He’s a amazing. Actor. Love him as Michael .
I do accept him as Michael. He hit the ground running with the material he was given and didn’t miss a beat.
I agree but you could see Steve Burton and Laura Wright trying to slide into that area of loving familiarity. They’ll get there but is an adjustment.
I wish both Chad and Rory much success and fulfillment in their new roles.
I absolutely love him! He is fantastic in this role! I am now TEAM MICHAEL!!!! (: Hooray! (:
He’s 1,000 times better than boring Noah on y/restless.
Y&R wastes great actors and keeps the bad ones!
Love him! I actually enjoy the character of Michael now whereas I had a very hard time liking Chad’s portrayal over the most recent years (maybe that had to do with the pairing of him and Willow or maybe it was Chad being done with the character and sleeping through scenes, or both – who knows). What I do know is that Rory is fantastic, and YandR’s lack of storyline for a prominent role of Noah, Nick and Sharon’s son, is GH’s huge gain!!!
Well said. Agree 100%.
I totally agree.
Thankful the writers didn’t play the “Michael has a new face” game and made the recast seamless.
I’m looking forward to Michael (via RG) being back on canvas. CD did a good job, but it was easy to tell towards the end, he was bored. And that’s fair. Actors rarely do the same thing for 15 years (obviously many soap actors do). I’m happy for CD to be moving on and spreading his wings and look forward to a new actor taking over. So far the change is seamless. I do like the 4-5 month gap of having him off screen.
Totally agree
wanted not not like him, missed Chad, but he is good
Very handsome and great body, but he barely has a pulse. No emotion, no facial expressions, no nothing. Now that fits if you consider the character of his father is the same way. I’d like a whole lot more…of anything.
I can certainly understand no emotion with what he has been threw and what he is having to deal with, with Willow and Drew. If he show to much emotion Willow will use it….
I have gotten to the point where I can’t stand Willow or Drew. Drew needs to go…
Amazing LOVE LOVE LOVE!!! GH is back to a must watch and must re-watch!
He’s great.
Love, love, love Rory as Michael!
He’s stepped into the role of Michael seamlessly. He’s especially good playing the loving and protective father. Rory Gibson has a classic movie star vibe about him.
He is awesome
I’m loving the new Michael which is crazy because I just knew I wasn’t going to like anyone taking chad place! Just goes to show
I love the new Michael!
Rory Gibson has definitely slipped into the role of Michael Corinthos with ease and comfortability. Hoping this works out long-term for him.
I believe he signed a multi year deal so he’s not going anywhere 🙂
I liked chad he was great. . And I like the new michael , he walked in that nurses ball with confidence. And he took total command of the room great job!!
Rory is a breath of fresh air. Nothing against the other Michael. But when he walked into the nurses ball and Wiley called out Daddy it was perfection. Rory picked him up and stopped and looked at Sonny and they were on same wave link. He is a great actor. Good luck Rory!!!
Often, when a recast starts, I imagine what the previous portrayer would’ve done. Not this week. Rory made a profound entrance and was immediately believable as (a more confident) Michael.
Appearance-wise, Chad looked like he could be Sean Kanan’s son. Rory reasonably passes as being related to Billy Warlock.
Everyone seems to like to rail on Frank for everything. In this instance, his gut seems to have been right.
He’s a great new Michael! Looking forward to watching him. Hopefully he plays part strong.
I love him as Michael. He was great in just a few days. Remember, he was Victor Newman’s grandson but even better as Michael.
I like him I feel he can do just as good both, where handsome
I absolutely ❤️ the fire in his eyes when he was talking to Willow but let me tell you Sasha and him make a great couple, when Michael touched her belly Damn loved it
Love this guy! He seems to have just a little more of a “bad boy” vibe to me than Chad did. Chad was at times very goody goody (not in a bad way) but Rory seems a little edgier. I can’t wait for court next week!
Excellent choice!
I really like the new Michael! He is handsome and plays the part very good. He’s a great addition to GH.
Love this guy I see a great future for him at GH definitely a keeper
I like this actor as Sonny’s son.! Good choice.
Very impressive
I miss Chad but learning to love Rory & I will.
I like the new guy ! He comes off strong but gentle. Definitely not a push over!
Good looking too
Miss the old Michael….but welcome Rory !!
Paddeus. You nailed it! Strong but gentle. Fully capable of being intense, and loving.
Love Him, he’s fits in perfectly he hit it out the ball park!!! Love You Rory!!! Oh almost forgot he is fine very good looking!!!
I think he is perfect for the role replacing original Michael.
Rory is the 4th actor (not counting babies or temporary fill-ins) to play Michael.
I’m so happy about Rory being cast. I have loved him since YR.
I think he did a good job breaking in as Michael. I can see him growing into the role as he gets more familiar with his character and I think he will bring new life to GH.
What a great recast! He’s adorable. So happy Michael is back on General Hospital!
I think he’s fantastic. GH casting hit gold with this one. No disrespect to Duell but it was his choice to leave. Rory is great. Really enjoying his scenes with everyone and see lots of chemistry with his Michael and Sasha.
I was afraid they were going to recast the one who would fill in for Michael at times. He definitely wouldn’t have been good as a recast, he reminded me of the old Molly. Always overacting the part! This new Michael got me when Wiley said “ Daddy!” He is definitely going to do great taking over the part of Michael. Great choice General Hospital, just when I was giving up wth the terrible writing on the show. You bounced back wth the Gio and Michael scenes. It’s about time the writing got better. Looking forward to the next episode. Keep up the good writing, it was long overdue that’s for sure!
I love this new Michael! He has chemistry with everyone and the transition was smooth because he’s very similar to the previous Michael. Good job with the recast!
I accepted him immediately. He’s a far more varied actor than Duell, who I found to be going flat in the part.
Truly enjoying this actor. Charisma in spades and chemistry with everyone he interacts with. He truly looks like a movie star and that deep baritone wow. He is someone you don’t change the channel and I appreciate this casting. I haven’t really ever cared about the Michael character if I’m honest. Now I’m finally taking an interest in this story.
I think Rory is a great replacement t for Chad Duel. It is nice to have Michael back in the active story line..
I really like him…he should be a keeper
For the first time I’m seeing a grown-up Michael. Congratulations on some great casting!
He’s pretty good, but am used to Michael being taller, so he seems odd to play that character. He would have been good as a new and different character.
What on earth does his height have to do with anything? Gawd. What some people will go to, to find fault.
Moreover, GH has a litany of leading men who aren’t very tall but it’s never circumvented their ability to convey strength. Chad is tall but had a goofy cartoonish presence and conveying Michael’s dark side didn’t come easily to him. Rory is of average height but already has demonstrated Michael’s darker side.
He is two inches shorter than Chad Duell; first, we obsess over hair colour and now we’re obsessing over height? Dang. Some people will find any reason to……
Love him so far. Very handsome and much edgier than Chad’s portrayal. Wish Chad the best. He seems to interact well with all his costars. I can see him taking over for Sonny if Sonny retires. Great charisma….great eye candy…
Absolutely love him. Please keep him as Michael. I can see chemistry between him and Sasha.
Not a fan
I love Rory as Michael. He has a harder look to him. Would love to see him take over Sonny’s business and make Drew and Willow pay.
Omy was so easy to like him right off the bat.

Taking to his Instagram to celebrate the nominations, GH’s Bennett, enthused, “3 Critic Choice Nominations! I’m so proud of the FINDING MR CHRISTMAS and to be in the company of all the legends in all these categories is so surreal! Congrats to Hallmark Channel and to our nominated cast and nominated show and everyone who made this magical show possible. This is crazy! This gives FMC 6 Critics Choice nominations in 2 years. Not bad for a little show on Hallmark Channel. What are your thoughts on our show?” Jumping first into the comment thread was one of his new GH co-stars, Dominic Zamprogna (Dante) who expressed, “Yeah buddy!!!🔥🔥”
In the series, Bennett, the host and co-creator spends eight weeks guiding 10 aspiring actors through a series of “festive face-offs” and acting challenges alongside actors like soap opera notables, Hunter King (ex-Summer, Y&R) and Alison Sweeney (Sami, DAYS). Along the way, they develop their skills and a bond with one another. The show, which is available on Hallmark Channel and Hallmark Plus, highlights LGBTQ+ representation with openly gay contestants vying to be the next Hallmark star.
It should be noted that Traitors received the most Critics Choice Real TV Award nominations with 6 nods, followed by Dancing with the Stars with 4.
Bennett is very familiar to daytime fans having started his career as JR Chandler on All My Children in 2000-2001, before landing the part of Aaron Samuels in the motion picture, Mean Girls in 2004 starring Lindsay Lohan, which would become his breakout performance.

‘General Hospital’s’ Kelly Thiebaud on Britt and Cassius Sibling Drama, But Who Will Ultimately Blow His Cover?
On the April 30 episode of General Hospital, Britt (Kelly Thiebaud) had some choice words and warning for her brother Cassius Faison (Ryan Paevey) who has been masquerading as his twin, the very dead, Nathan West.
As the story has unfolded, viewers learned that Britt knew all along that when “Nathan” showed up in Port Charles seemingly resurrected with a missing 7 years of his life unexplained, that Cassius was taking his place.
Now in developments on today’s GH, Josslyn Jacks (Eden McCoy) is figuring out that this guy pretending to be Nathan is someone else, and Cassius learns from Britt, that Joss is not just a ditzy sorority girl as he claimed, but a WSB agent! The moment stuns Cassius. Are the walls about to close in on him and his charade?

Courtesy/ABC
Daytime Emmy winner, Kelly Thiebaud spoke to Soap Opera Digest, about the story point and getting the opportunity this time back at GH to work with Ryan Paevey, when she hadn’t had the chance to before.
BROTHERLY LOVE?
Thiebaud expressed on sharing scenes with Ryan Paevey, “It’s just been so wonderful to have him back and to actually work with him! When he first came onto the show (as Nathan at the end of 2013) I was kind of heading out — it was right towards the end of my contract, so we didn’t actually work together a ton. It’s been really refreshing and so much fun to really spend time together and get to know each other and work together. I think we have really great on-camera chemistry and banter with each other. I really enjoy working with him.”
With the stakes at an all-time, Thiebaud explained how she views her on-screen alter-ego’s involvement with her more hot-to-temper sibling and why Britt revealed the truth about Josslyn to him. “People finding out about Cassius would expose what she’s involved in and what she agreed to do,” explains Kelly “And now Josslyn is digging around, and she’s connected to Carly (Laura Wright) to Jason (Steve Burton) and that whole dynamic! It’s messy!”
BRITT’S MURKY FUTURE
Britt has currently also reached her breaking point with Jason being carted away by the WSB, Rocco (Finn Carr), the child she gave birth to, shooting Cullum (Andrew Hawkes) to protect her and Jason, Marco (Adrian Anchondo) being killed after trying to help her, and Cullum holding over her head getting her Huntington’s disease medication to control her symptoms, while blackmailing her into finishing the research on her father, Cesar Faison’s, final project. Thiebaud summed it up best for Britt right now, sharing, “It’s been a really tough time for her.”
So, who do you think will be the person to blow Cassius’ cover? Will it be Britt herself? Josslyn? Liesl? Brennan? Nina? Lulu? Rocco, Maxie, Cullum or someone else? Let us know your pick in the comment section.

GENERAL HOSPITAL: Michael Reveals His Plan to Set Up Chase and Willow to Have an Affair
After the Wednesday, April 29 episode of General Hospital, it’s clear outside interference and other circumstances are set to blow Chase (Josh Swickard) and Brook Lynn’s (Amanda Setton) marriage sky high, as Michael (Rory Gibson) reveals his plans to entrap Willow (Katelyn MacMullen) and use her relationship with Chase to do it!
In story, Michael dropped by unexpectedly to Carly’s (Laura Wright). A plotting Michael reveals his plan to nudge Willow and Chase into having an affair. Michael hopes it would create both a political and personal scandal, where Willow would lose her seat in congress. In the scenario, she would be having an affair with her ex-husband, while taking care of her supposed disabled husband, Drew (Cameron Mathison), who cannot speak and is confined to a wheelchair, which in turn will look horrible for Willow’s character.
Carly asked does he really want to destroy his cousin, Brook Lynn’s life in the process? Michael goes in on Chase’s holier than thou attitude, and says he is going to set-up the circumstances that would lead Chase and Willow to betray their spouses, and hit the sheets together. Michael swears to Carly what the two of them do is up to them, but he’s going to go on the offense with this.
MICHAEL HAS BACK-UP
Later, Jacinda (Paige Herschell) is talking with Charlotte (Bluesy Burke) at Crimson and how much she dislikes Willow because of what she has done to Michael. Just then, Michael shows up and tells Jacinda privately, he’s figured out a way to fight Willow. Looks like Jacinda might work with Michael to bring down Willow and use Chase as the person to do it!
At the hospital, Lucas (Van Hansis) tells Josslyn (Eden McCoy) that Carly is cheating on Jack, but he doesn’t know with who. Josslyn suddenly flashes back to the moment she found her mother harboring a fugitive, Valentin Cassadine (James Patrick Stuart), in her attic, and as figured out that her mother is sleeping with him. She heads out.

Courtesy/ABC
BRENNAN IS ABOUT TO LEARN ABOUT CARLY
Next thing you know, Josslyn has showed up inside Jack’s (Chris McKenna) hotel room at the Metro Court and when he enters his room, he is shocked to find her there. He lays into her for not keeping his distance and that Cullum (Andrew Hawkes) will have no problem killing her if he knows she’s WSB. Josslyn fires back that he is only concerned about that because his relationship with her mother depends on her being safe. But then, she lays the boom, and tells Jack, Well, you’re too late. You already lost her.”
LULU GETS A GLIMPSE OF CASSIUS’ TEMPER
In addition, Lulu (Alexa Havins) sees a different side of “Nathan.” Since she is unaware that the man before her is his twin, Cassius Fasion (Ryan Paevey), he tells her that Rocco (Finn Carr) blabbed that he shot Cullum to Britt (Kelly Thiebaud), and now he thinks they should send him away to stop him from talking to everyone else. This concerns Lulu, who rails at Nathan for telling her what to do with her son and that she isn’t going to abandon him. With “Nathan’s” outburst at her on the matter, will she finally get a clue this is not the man she thinks it is?
So, what do you think of Michael’s plan to push Willow and Chase into an affair? Will it work or backfire? Do you think Joss will reveal that Valentin is the man sleeping with Carly to Brennan, which will send him in a rage? Will Lulu continue to be clueless about “Nathan?” Weigh-in via the comment section below. But first, take a look at the GH video tease for today’s April 30 episode.
