General Hospital's Jason and Elizabeth Competing in Top TV Couple 2016: First Round Voting On Now!

A battle for the favorite TV couple of 2016 is underway via E! Online! After narrowing down hundreds of couples on hundreds of shows, they have come up with their top 64. And wouldn’t you know? In the first round of category 4.3, General Hospital’s Liason, Jason (Billy Miller) and Elizabeth (Rebeca Herbst) are in the running, and are the only daytime drama soap couple on the list!
The GH duo are up against in the first round The 100’s Octavia and Lincoln. Immobolize the troops Liason fans if you want to get your couple through! The voting goes similar as to that of the bracket set up of the March Madness colleges basketball tournament: In round one 64 couples compete, and then when the votes are tallied the list goes down to the top 32, then 16, then 8, and then 4 and then to the final round. Voting for the first round goes until Wednesday, April 13 at 5 p.m. PST.
Liason fans and GH fans use hashtag #TopTVCouple to rally the fan base. As for primetime soapy duo’s, it’s Nashville’s Rayna and Deacon against Castle’s Beckett and Castle in category 1.3.
So while JaSam begins to pick up steam on-air, after finally making love, in the end will Sam (Kelly Monaco) or Liz have her man? In the meantine, E! Online picked Jason and Liz for their contest.

For me, I have always loved Liz with Jason (Billy or Steve). For me it must be a preference in general for Liz over Sam. Jason and Sam are a bore to me, but I know we all have our preferences.

Billy Miller and Rebecca Herbst have great chemistry. Kelly Monaco and former Jason, Steve Burton had chemistry. Now that Billy Miller is Jason, the chemstry game changed. I hope TPTB take advantage of Billy And Rebecca’s chemstry instead of trying to force the old chemistry of Steve and Kelly onto Billy…that ship has passed. Also the best ever chemistry that Kelly had with someone has always been Michael Easton, no matter who he is playing. You really have to go with what works.
I have to agree, while I’m not a huge fan of Kelly Monaco, I do love her chemistry with Michael. That man can make anyone likeable. Haha!

I totally agree with Yvonne’s comments, as well as Michelle’s. The writers would be doing everyone a great service by seeing who has the better chemistry with whom when new actors come on the show. Billy Miller and Becky Herbst bring out the best in each other; I can’t say the same for Billy and Kelly.
I disagree… Billy and Kelly have great chemistry. I prefer Billy in the role… I would rather Liz be with Rick, Frank or in a perfect world a not so dead AJ. Sam and Jason belong together end of story!

Yes, I’m voting for Liz&Jason, what an accomplishment to get a soap couple competing with primetime couples! Every soap fan (except Jasammers of course, lol) should be voting on this poll! It’s great exposure for GH, especially. I am, admittedly, more Liason than Jasam, but I honestly would vote for Jasam if they were the ones on the poll. I’d vote for any soap couple that has the cajones to go up against Clexa! LOL
They’re okay but none of Billy Miller’s GH pairings grab me. They’re a tiny bit better than Jasam but that’s not saying much because those two are a cure for insomnia.
Always been a Liason fan, I loved Steve Burton as Jason and never thought he could be replaced but Billy brought it and I absolutely love Becky and Billy’s chemistry as my liason. liason4life ♡♡♡

I thought romance was what soaps were known for but that doesn’t seem to be the case anymore. It just seems they miss a lot of steps in between before they “do the thing.” Noted that Anna/Finola said to the shrink in her submission that she and Duke had a real love affair, not just a quickie infatuation that is all too often being passed off as true love.

Yes it is real. It is put out by E! every year. I know some think that Liason fans made it up. Just more misinformation out there.
It’s a long survey with multiple tv couples from primetime. But, you don’t have to answer every matchup. Just pick the ones you like. I didn’t answer for any shows that I don’t watch (which were a lot of them). Liz & Jason were the only daytime couple in the survey.

I felt the same way—any recognition this genre can get can only help. Really makes me sad that the numbers for all the shows are as low as they are and that we only have 4 soaps as opposed to the nice handful we used to have. It helps that I do like Jason and Liz as much as I do.

I sometimes have to wonder if Liason fans even watch the show. Billy had foggy memories about Sam from the beginning. He was living with Liz and Helena brainwashed him to kill Sam and he couldn’t do it because he had memories about making love to Sam. That was his first memory of Sam which happened before he fell in love with Liz. Seriously, get your facts straight. I am not a Jasam fan either as I am just not crazy about this BM in the role of Jason but it irks me when Liason fans keep spouting off incorrect info like its gospel.

No, it’s the best TV couple, PERIOD. e!online is a very well-known website, and covers entertainment of all kinds. Liz&Jason was the only soap couple to make the poll. Competing with the likes of Castle, Bones, Outlander, Once Upon a Time, etc.
Billy Miller is great with any onscreen actress, but I like him best with Sam.

I am so proud of my OTP making the cut for this contest of predominately prime time powerhouse ships! Liason fans never give up and I am thrilled that we can represent daytime in this contest! I just wish that the GH brass would acknowledge this great opportunity! I’m voting!
I like BH and I like Liz, but I hope that this was the last of her with Jasom for a long time. I do not think pairing Liz with Jason has done anything positive for her in a long time. When Jason helped Liz after Lucky “died” there were amazing scenes! When SBu left and came back I thought there were some good Liason scenes, but I have enjoyed each re-pairing less and less since early 2000. Liz can be such a strong character but I do not enjoy who she is now with Jason. There has just always been some big secret or lie that keeps me from really enjoying the relationship. Let Liz be with a leading man where the story and relationship can be about them. I get that GH probably wants to play off of fan wars, but it is at a detriment to the characters and story. Liz has been stuck with being pulled in the middle of Jason and Sam since like 2006. The character is so much more than that so PLEASE, GH, write for that!!!!

that’s right, that just shows how many dedicated fans they have! And yet, GH has chosen to never give those fans what they want. I know, I know, they can’t have both Jasam & Liason as endgame. But they could have at least let Liason get married and be happy for a little while (and not with a lie between them either!) Those fans have been waiting 16 years, it’s outrageous for GH to deny them for so long. I wouldn’t blame Liasons if they got fed up and quit watching.

I consider myself an original Liason fan. I loved SB and Becky’s Liason. When Billy Miller joined GH, I was interested to see how his Jason would work with Elizabeth. Immediately I saw great playful and at times sexy chemistry, but the moment it was clear that he was Jason , I knew the story would be unjust. I knew that eventually BM was brought back to GH to reunite Jasam. So the so called love story we got for Jason and Elizabeth was half hearted, tainted with lies and deceit. I could not get on board with the new Liason, because it was all a big setup for a dramatic jasam reunion. It NEVER EVER was about Jason and Elizabeth. I don’t know how the Liason fans could find any joy in them. However, I do think that Billy & Becky work well together. Too bad they were never intended to be. Just think of Liason was the end game and if the writers wrote a true love story for them. It would have been AMAZING.
As for Jasam, well they never were a couple I enjoyed very much. Still I’m not going to say they are boring , well yes they are boring, but Biilly and Kelly do have chemistry. How can they not. Aren’t they dating in real life. It’s kind of unfair that they get the love story, and Liason got the shaft. I hate that because Jason and Elizabeth really did love each other and mutually agreed to part way. Now with the new re-wright of Liason, they have it almost impossible for them to ever be a couple by having Elizabeth deceive him like she did. Talk about crap all over a favorite couple. That said, I will vote for Liason to honor their history and to help a genre I truly love , Go vote all, do it for GH ! Next year your couple may make the list.

GENERAL HOSPITAL Preview: Serena Sets Her Sights on Michael; Jason’s Emotional Exit from the Mob
This week on all-new episodes of General Hospital, new and old motivations come into play with dangerous consequences. According to the just released GH video spoilers video for the week of August 3-7, a bailiff calls out, “All rise!”
Now it’s Isaiah (Sawandi Wilson) vs. Curtis (Donnell Turner), as the surgeon is suing the owner of the Savoy for assault that ruined is ability to operate. At the end of the day, which of these men has enough evidence against the other? Portia (Brook Kerr) is by Isaiah’s side, while Jordan (Tanisha Harper) is with Curtis.
Next, Lucy (Lynn Herring) has a plan to get the controlling shares of Deception away from Michael (Rory Gibson). She wants her daughter, Serena (Kelly Kruger) to seduce Michael. She tells her, “Pick out your most seductive suit.” Soon, we see Serena in her bathing suit at the Metro Court face to face with Michael.
Later, there is a small baggie containing three blue pills. Nina (Cynthia Watros) ask Willow (Katelyn MacMullen), “What did you do?” We also see Michael asking the same thing of Jacinda (Paige Herschell). Leading into this week, viewers know that Willow doesn’t want the former escort anywhere near her children, Amelia and Wiley. Is this how she stops her, or is Jacinda up to old tricks and wants to frame Willow? Remember when Jacindsa drugged Drew (Cameron Mathison)? Stay tuned.
Finally, in the pick-up from last Friday’s cliffhanger, an emotional Jason (Steve Burton) continues to tell Sonny (Maurice Benard) that he cannot work for him anymore. Sonny ask, “So that’s it? You’re Out?” We fade to black.

Vincent Pastore of ‘Sopranos’ Fame and ‘General Hospital’s’ Maximus Giambetti Dies at 80
Vincent Pastore, best known for his memorable role as Salvatore “Big Pussy” Bonpensiero on HBO’s The Sopranos has passed away.
The veteran actor was found dead on August 1st in his home in the Bronx, New York. Pastore was 80-years-old. The cause of death is yet to be determined.
As well as his role on The Sopranos, many soap fans will recall he played multiple smaller roles on the beloved One Life to Live from 1995 and 2004. However, in 2008, he landed the short-term role as Maximus Giambetti on General Hospital.
PASTORE WANTED TO BE ON GENERAL HOSPITAL
Maximus was the mobster father of Sonny Corinthos’ (Maurice Benard) bodyguards: Max (Derk Cheetwood) and Milo (Drew Cheetwood)
According to Soap Opera Digest, Pastore told Soaps In Depth back in 2009, after appearing in a SOAPnet promotional campaign as a celebrity fan of General Hospital: “‘I’d love to be on the show. So they called up GH’s casting director (Mark Teschner) and Bobby (Robert Guza Jr. ex-head writer, GH) and they wrote me in!”
Pastore was a huge General Hospital fan from way back, who at one point told producers that he would watch the ABC soap opera while working in bars and nightclubs in the 70s and 80s.
Throughout his decades long career, Pastore appeared in films including: Goodfellas, Carlito’s Way and Men of Respect, The Jerky Boys: The Movie and the 1996 HBO TV movie Gotti.
In TV, besides The Sopranos, Pastore’s credits included: Law & Order, The Practice, Son of the Beach, Queens Supreme, Hawaii Five-0, Wu-Tang: An American Saga, plus the miniseries The Last Don II. Most recently, Vincent was a series regular on Gravesend and guest starred on Yellowjackets.
Pastore is survived by his daughter, Renee, son-in-law and granddaughter.
