General Hospital’s Tabyana Ali Weighs-In on the Slow Burn of ‘Sprina’
During this week’s ABC Winter Press Tour for the Television Critics Association (TCA), both Tabyana Ali (Trina) and Nicholas Alexander Chavez (Spencer) took part in the GH panel.
Not only did the cast and creatives discuss plans for the daytime drama’s upcoming 60th anniversary, but they gave reporters a chance to ask questions related to current and past storylines, and more.
When the question was posed of just when will ‘Sprina’ finally share a kiss, and the slow burn between Trina and Spencer romantically, Tabyana Ali fielded it and responded.
Tabyana expressed: “I will say, as somebody who is a big romance fan, the slow burn, I think, is necessary. There’s something about the tension that draws in the audience. I think that’s also a reason why we’re bringing in more audience, because of the tension and because of the pacing of it, especially in the day and age where relationships happen so quickly.”
She also added: “It’s really nice to see two people, two young people, two interracial people that love each other try to get closer with one another and also try to jump over the barriers that are created, not only just from them, but from their environment … and they learn how to work through it together.”

I like slow burns, but don’t make it too long like soaps are prone to do. It’s been interesting to watch their journey from first meeting…the spark started there…to now. And the trust they are building for each other has played a big factor.
I like slow burn, but honey at this point the meal is cooked and we ready to eat. Let’s get moving on their couple Era, including a lot of kissing and pannycake slapping.

Sorry, but there is nothing in their future to look forward to. They are boring and have no chemestry now, what makes some people think there will be some big romantic explosion?

Also have to consider the transition from Sydney Mikayla to Tabyana Ali as a factor because had the chemistry between Tabyana Ali and Nicholas Chavez not capture what Sydney and Nicholas created then Sprina would have been diverted a while ago.
They were diverted. Spencer’s been locked up and they threw Rory in the middle of it. And he conveniently got hooked right when Spencer was getting out of lockup. But that was still several months of “diversion”. Not even playing out in the typical “triangle” scenario, with Spencer behind bars & not able to see Trina at all.
Agreed ! no disrespect to Tabyana Ali, but the pairing with Nicholas Chavez does not capture anything that was present with Sydney Mikayla.
She make a good point would love to see them together they have the same personality and friendship that storyline is taking too long for them to get together
Sorry… but, I don’t see the hype behind this non-couple. I genuinely don’t. Trina would be better suited with Cameron, any way, and then Emma can come back and shake things up for everyone involved.
Don’t let it burn so long that that the Nicholas Alexander Chavez is up in a year. It may not be easy to recreate this chemistry with a recast
For young people, Trina and Spencer are the most , “please kill me now or put me to sleep” twosome I’ve seen in a while. Ali is not a good actress, and with a speech problem to boot. Also, her voice is barely audible.
Slow burn? More like a slow burn-out!!
There is zero tension and sensual appeal there. She just “ain’t” got it—-Poor Spencer!! He’s so hot, he deserves a sexy, gorgeous, come-hither, little hellion to draw that “lion-in-wait”, which is just roaring and rearing to escape from within .
This girl does not have the stuff to portray such a powerful character which was displayed to the fullest by Mikayla—-and she wasn’t even the original character, I don’t think!!

I am so excited to finally see Spencer and Trina together , They truly make a handsome couple!!

GENERAL HOSPITAL Preview: Serena Sets Her Sights on Michael; Jason’s Emotional Exit from the Mob
This week on all-new episodes of General Hospital, new and old motivations come into play with dangerous consequences. According to the just released GH video spoilers video for the week of August 3-7, a bailiff calls out, “All rise!”
Now it’s Isaiah (Sawandi Wilson) vs. Curtis (Donnell Turner), as the surgeon is suing the owner of the Savoy for assault that ruined is ability to operate. At the end of the day, which of these men has enough evidence against the other? Portia (Brook Kerr) is by Isaiah’s side, while Jordan (Tanisha Harper) is with Curtis.
Next, Lucy (Lynn Herring) has a plan to get the controlling shares of Deception away from Michael (Rory Gibson). She wants her daughter, Serena (Kelly Kruger) to seduce Michael. She tells her, “Pick out your most seductive suit.” Soon, we see Serena in her bathing suit at the Metro Court face to face with Michael.
Later, there is a small baggie containing three blue pills. Nina (Cynthia Watros) ask Willow (Katelyn MacMullen), “What did you do?” We also see Michael asking the same thing of Jacinda (Paige Herschell). Leading into this week, viewers know that Willow doesn’t want the former escort anywhere near her children, Amelia and Wiley. Is this how she stops her, or is Jacinda up to old tricks and wants to frame Willow? Remember when Jacindsa drugged Drew (Cameron Mathison)? Stay tuned.
Finally, in the pick-up from last Friday’s cliffhanger, an emotional Jason (Steve Burton) continues to tell Sonny (Maurice Benard) that he cannot work for him anymore. Sonny ask, “So that’s it? You’re Out?” We fade to black.

Sonny makes a stunning announcement. Serena makes her move. Willow faces a new threat. Isaiah takes the stand. Lucy questions Laura.
FRIDAY, AUGUST 7
Josslyn is taken aback. Ava courts a new ally. Jordan and Anna catch up. Isaiah vents to Lucas and Elizabeth. Michael questions Jacinda.

Vincent Pastore of ‘Sopranos’ Fame and ‘General Hospital’s’ Maximus Giambetti Dies at 80
Vincent Pastore, best known for his memorable role as Salvatore “Big Pussy” Bonpensiero on HBO’s The Sopranos has passed away.
The veteran actor was found dead on August 1st in his home in the Bronx, New York. Pastore was 80-years-old. The cause of death is yet to be determined.
As well as his role on The Sopranos, many soap fans will recall he played multiple smaller roles on the beloved One Life to Live from 1995 and 2004. However, in 2008, he landed the short-term role as Maximus Giambetti on General Hospital.
PASTORE WANTED TO BE ON GENERAL HOSPITAL
Maximus was the mobster father of Sonny Corinthos’ (Maurice Benard) bodyguards: Max (Derk Cheetwood) and Milo (Drew Cheetwood)
According to Soap Opera Digest, Pastore told Soaps In Depth back in 2009, after appearing in a SOAPnet promotional campaign as a celebrity fan of General Hospital: “‘I’d love to be on the show. So they called up GH’s casting director (Mark Teschner) and Bobby (Robert Guza Jr. ex-head writer, GH) and they wrote me in!”
Pastore was a huge General Hospital fan from way back, who at one point told producers that he would watch the ABC soap opera while working in bars and nightclubs in the 70s and 80s.
Throughout his decades long career, Pastore appeared in films including: Goodfellas, Carlito’s Way and Men of Respect, The Jerky Boys: The Movie and the 1996 HBO TV movie Gotti.
In TV, besides The Sopranos, Pastore’s credits included: Law & Order, The Practice, Son of the Beach, Queens Supreme, Hawaii Five-0, Wu-Tang: An American Saga, plus the miniseries The Last Don II. Most recently, Vincent was a series regular on Gravesend and guest starred on Yellowjackets.
Pastore is survived by his daughter, Renee, son-in-law and granddaughter.
