Genie Francis will be back on Y&R with "Major Story" for Genevieve!
As many Y&R fans may know, Genie Francis is currently on a short hiatus from the number one soap while she is off filming the Hallmark Channel movie The Note next week opposite Ted McGinley (this is the third installment of the film).
Rumors were running rampant that Francis was now exiting The Young and the Restless for good, after she just got there! Now while some fans and soap pundits have been split on if they like her performance as Genevieve. or not, CBS Soaps In Depth is confirming today that everything you may have been hearing is way off the mark!
A spokesperson from Y&R told SID, “While her character may be leaving town for a brief time, not only will be back, but there’s some major storylines coming up as Genevieve becomes even more woven into the fabric of Genoa City.”
So what could be the next arc of the story for Genevieve and Francis upon her return to work on daytime? Stay tuned.

Y&R’s Hayley Erin Previews Her Role in Horror-Thriller ‘New Life’
This pisses me off !! Nothing against GF, but long time viewers have stomached the mess MAB has made of Y&R the last year but they can give GF a major story and not our beloved Nikki? They want GF and pay her but can’t pay to have MTS which is major character of Y&R? I want to let Sony, CBS, Y&R this is my only connection to CBS since they cancelled my other shows and been a longtime viewer for CBS but I’m fed up with MAB’s hack job she has done. I know she is part of the Bell family, but she isn’t Bill Bell and resorting to turning GH 2.0 is disgusting and I’m not the only one complaining about Y&R. Look at the message forums. I WILL and SOONER then later will tune in to DOOL with their new direction wanting reality-character based stories and turn off Y&R. Y&R should be making Bill proud of his vision, this isn’t his vision currently. Both are on at the same time…someone needs to listen to fans.
Chill out, honey. MTS is taping scenes as I write this. If you’ve been paying attention to the blogs, then you would know that she is already back at work with no plans to leave the show at all. I would be pissed, too, if they wrote her off, but rest assured…. Nikki ain’t goin’ nowhere.
oh well that might be nice to say and sugar coat the fact MAB is ruining Y&R and I have turned it off as of last week. I much rather go on YT and watch good soap opera instead this dribble they trying to sell the fans. I turned off Y&R and will in September tune in to see DOOL, I want reality base character driven story-lines, not GH 2.0 lite I don’t like the direction and sure isn’t the hell Y&R I grew up with on my tv , and executives wonder way people get upset because they have no idea and don’t listen to what fans want to see.
Again, this all comes down to personal opinion. I’m a longtime Laura fan, and a viewer of Y&R since SN started airing it- so I see both sides here. Nothing against MTS, but if I had to choose whom I wanted to see on my screen, well- no contest- Genie wins hands down. I’m not a huge fan of Nikki, she annoys me to no end, but hey- that’s just me. I don’t think its fair to blame Genie for any “money issues” that have come up here- and quite frankly, that’s just jealousy. Have a nice day.
You not a long time viewer, and you called GF “Laura”, first MTS could act circles around Genie the over the top acting is not appealing and you don’t have the investment as long time viewers. MTS will always win hands down with Y&R fans and viewers. GF annoys me with her poor acting and no history to the show. GH can have her back anytime to get this half baked character off the screen.
This makes me very happy! 🙂 I love Genevieve.
I can’t wait!!
This is not a slam against Genie but we have been testing the chemistry with Jack and now Victor and it is leaving me a little cold. We shall see. I keep hearing rumors about MTS that she won’t give into a pay cut, but I agree she has been a major stay on Y&R for years. I don’t think it will work with the fans if you force feed someone who doesn’t have a connection to someone they care about on the soap. Time will tell!
Be back? I wasn’t even aware GF had left
I’ll assume the story involves Jack
poor Jack – first he had to deal with the Patty/Emily craziness
and now he is getting involved with a nutcase like Genevieve?
The dude can’t catch a break.
Genie Francis BELONGS to GH… She is missed.
Yes, she is very, very missed- but I’m reserving judgement until I see a little more of what Mr Wolf has up his sleeve- the damage done by Guza is so tremendous that he has his work cut out for him- true, so far- he’s doing a decent job, but I’m cringing at what will happen when Luke comes back- there is no easy way to redeem this character, so my mind boggles- and I’m not sure that I want Genie/Laura around for that. I don’t want her to be used as a crutch for Luke, and for the life of me, I can’t see how this would all work out- as much as I want a happy ending for Luke and Laura. 🙁
someone let genie know, that gh has fired guza, and that she can try coming home where she belongs, tell her to stop playing this cartoonish character on this bad soap w/ organ music in the background, she’s better at playing a character w/ soul instead of a villianess wanabe, its not working, not on this show for sure.
Y&R is a confusing mess! I love the Diane mystery, but they were crazy to let Maura West go. I agree, GF belongs on GH. I am not buying her with Jack. I know, I Know, I am a die-hard Jack/Phyllis fan. Maria Arena Bell shoold watch the old Y&R clips that were written by her father-in-law, Bill Bell. PLEASE bring back our old show!
Genie Francis is playing her role as Genevieve perfectly. She shows up at a meeting of Abby and Victoria out of the blue with suggestions for Beauty of Nature and Victoria thanked and she left. Now with the promos I saw, she is doing what I thought…going after Victor. I’m not surprised. It is fun to see her at work and I hope she will be around for a long time….
Nice how Maria Arena Bell shows more loyalty to new hires than to veterans she has been neglecting all year. Nothing against Genie Francis (she should be back on GH), but I am much more interested in seeing story for characters like Michael, Lauren, Paul, Jill and Neil than Genevieve. Ask her when she will write for Lauren, and I bet we would hear crickets. We only see her when CBS needs Lauren to promote her make up line.
