If you caught today’s pivotal episode of General Hospital, then you saw at the end of the show a very special PSA in conjunction with RAINN ( Rape, Abuse, Incest National Network). As many are aware this week on GH, Michael Corinthos (Chad Duell), reveals to his loved ones that he was sexually assaulted while serving time in prison. The character has been experiencing the shame, fear, and stigma and emotional effects of the assault for many months.  Now, unable to deal with the trauma alone, Michael finally reveals the truth, and so in conjunction with this disclosure, General Hospital is helping viewers to be connected and to be aware that, if you or a loved one has faced sexual violence and abuse that you can get the help you and they deserve through the National Sexual Assault Hotlines as discussed in a RAINN PSA starring General Hospital ‘s Duell and Andrea Bogart (Abby).

So, if you or someone you know has been sexually assaulted, you can call the National Sexual Assault Hotline (800.656.HOPE) or visit the Online Hotline. Free, confidential, 24/7.  To learn more about RAINN visit their website.

Watch the PSA with Chad and Andrea after the jump, and make sure to come back this Wednesday February 2nd for a very special interview with Chad Duell on the February On-Air On-Soaps Podcast!

GH’s Kirsten Storms Shares More Details on Her Brain Surgery and Recovery

On Sunday, Kirsten Storms (Maxie, General Hospital) posted a follow-up message on her Instagram account to her friends and followers on how she is doing following her brain surgery, and to answer any questions that may be out on there; so she decided to share further details.

Storms expressed: “First, thank you for all of the well wishes I’ve received over the last few days. 🥰 Little bit of info for those who are wondering.. I spent the last few years having random health issues that I disregarded as side affects to my medications or just something I was experiencing due to age. When I went to get an MRI for some severe neck pain I have been experiencing for the last few months (I assumed this neck pain was also causing my frequent “migraines”) my amazingly thorough orthopedist ordered an MRI of my head just to be on the “safe side” – even though that isn’t his area of expertise.  Truly a great doctor.  That’s when we stumbled upon a rather large, very full of fluid, cyst that was attached to the lower portion of brain. I feel very fortunate that my situation wasn’t more serious and that I had a wonderful neurosurgeon who immediately knew how to fix it. I’m not gonna lie, brain surgery had me nervous, but I’m immensely thankful to my family, friends, and incredible “work family” who have been supportive, kind and loving during a time when I’ve been feeling a lot of emotions. Work is a great place to be everyday and for the 2 months leading up to my surgery I found a lot of comfort being around the people I’ve worked beside for so many years. I’m excited to get back to it after my recovery. (Yes, they shaved a portion of my head, so please no comments if you don’t like my hair. It’s temporary.). Again, thank you to everyone for sending positive vibes my way. It’s not gone unnoticed. ♥️

Fun fact: I now firmly believe the new plates in my brain will give me some sort of special ability. Fingers crossed I can suddenly knit a sweater in 1 day. Ooo maybe 1 hour. 😮”

Please continue to send well-wishes to Kirsten via the comment section below as she is on the mend, and we look forward to her return to GH when she is recovered.
