GH Nurses’ Ball 2023 Part Three: Vanna in Peril, Brook Lynn Stands Her Ground, and More Performances Take Centerstage

On part three of the 2023 General Hospital Nurses’ Ball, it was all about side stories, sub-stories, and major story as more Port Charles favorites and special guests took to the stage sprinkled in with a few moments of heart-tugging nostalgia.
As the episode begins, we actually get a flashback to years ago when Felicia (Kristina Wagner) took to the Nurses’ Ball stage, but when Mac (John J. York) and Bobbie (Jackie Zeman) reminisce about the old days of the ball, there were no clips, leading us to wonder that perhaps their moments were unavailable in the GH or ABC archives.

Backstage, Brook Lynn (Amanda Setton) throws a drink at Linc (Dan Buran) to keeps his claws off of Josslyn (Eden McCoy). As the night wears on, Brook Lynn’s decision to sign Linc’s NDA is really waying on her, making her more uneasy as she sees just how creepy Linc is in action with other women at the ball.

Deanna (Dioni Michelle Collins) introduces very special guest, Danielle Ponder, who slays the performance of her latest single “Someone Like You”.

Sonny (Maurice Benard) catches Bobbie (Jackie Zeman) backstage. He tells her he wants to start a nursing scholarship fund in honor of Epiphany and gives her quite the hefty check. Bobbie, who has been upset with Sonny on how he let down her daughter, Carly (Laura Wright), confesses that she is always impressed when Sonny shows his generosity for things like this.
Then, in the most emotional moment in the episode, Sonny and Bobbie recall Stone when Sonny tells her the money he’s donating is given in Stone’s memory. Bobbie tells Sonny he was wonderful to Stone.

Dex (Evan Hofer) is getting a shot of tequila and we later learn its to loosen him up, because it appears that he and Cody (Josh Kelly), who is now being framed by Gladys (Bonnie Burroughs), might be hitting the Nurses Ball stage soon. Spencer (Nicholas Chavez) sees Dex swigging down his drink and wants to rat him out to his uncle Sonny since he is supposed to be on the clock working for the mobster. Trina (Tabyana Ali) and Joss come upon the scene and Trina is furious with Spencer for his entitled behavior and storms out. Josslyn also rips into Spencer. Next, a henchmen of Victor’s (Charles Shaughnessy) tells Spencer that when Victor calls him, he best to what he says.

Chase (Josh Swickard) and Blaze (Jacqueline Grace Lopez) hit the Nurses’ Ball stage next and perform their duet. Playing in the band is none other than Nancy Lee Grahn’s real-life daughter, singer and musician, Kate Grahn. At the end of the performance, Linc jumps onstage and kisses Blaze on the cheek, which sets off Brook Lynn. She decides to tell the attendees how Linc exploits young female musical artists and calls him out for being a sexual predator. Next, Blaze admits that Linc is dirt and Brook Lynn is telling the truth. Dante (Dominic Zamprogna) comes out of the audience to drag Linc out of the ball.
Young Georgie and James, along with Liesl (Kathleen Gati), perform a magic act that in its final trick goes horribly wrong. Liesl has vanished because somehow Victor’s henchmen have stuffed her unconscious in the trunk of a car.

Back at the the safe house, after firing shots at them, Victor tells Valentin (James Patrick Stuart) and Anna (Finola Hughes) he wants the ice princess necklace now and to hand it over. Victor says he’s very disappointed in Valentin’s lack of concern for him, since he spent weeks mourning his supposed death. The henchmen have Anna in a headlock about to snap her neck, if Valentin doesn’t come up with the jewels. Eventually, Valentin gives the necklace (the one he said he originally didn’t have) to Victor. However, Victor pulls out a gun and takes aim and fires shots at Anna!
What did you think about the performance today from Danielle Ponder, Chase and Blaze, and the magic tricks from Georgie and James? Do you think someone shot Victor, just as he was shooting Anna? How will Vanna et al get out of this situation? How will the ball conclude? Share your thoughts and your theories via the comment section, but first, check out Danielle Ponder’s Nurses’ Ball performance.
Enjoyed Danielle’s performance but I had hoped we would’ve gotten a nostalgic performance from a past resident of PC. Like a Noah, Frisco, Blackie, or Miguel. The loyal fans deserved that.
Not enough nostalgia yet. I know lack of clips was mentioned. Someone in the soap press should check about why that is?
It’s GHs 60th. Plots are moving but we also needed some entertainment it’s the Nurses Ball.
I didn’t get the whole show as it jumped from wed to Friday, it is so dissapointing ,what happened to the missing hour
When there’s a preemption (as there was Tuesday), DVRs often skip recording the next day or one after since they interpret one of the postponed shows as a rerun. Easiest way to adjust that is to see recording to all episodes, not just new.
Go to the ABC app or website to catch the missing episode.
Never heard of Danielle Ponder before, but I’m glad they found somebody who could actually sing. The rest of these autotuned lip-synced performances have been embarassing.
Perhaps the producers were unable to isolate clips of Mac or Bobbie without other performers who were not on or no longer on the show. I don’t recall Bobbie ever having a solo act in the Ball – only appearing with other nurses. They could’ve found a clip of Mr. Marbles though!
Michael, one main point not listed above – Anna & Valentin instructing Lucy to escape through the bedroom window. Somehow she’ll make it to the Metro Court on Friday’s episode.
Victor grabbing Liesl (who goes out the night before a major medical procedure) will just prolong the Willow storyline. At least it’s a plot twist no one saw coming.
I know she wasn’t on the episode, but it would’ve been so much better for Alexis to be the one back stage with Danielle Ponder than Carly. She also has new life post a legal career and they could’ve given her a line to compliment the band members.
missing the whole episode,is there some way to see it
Blaze can sing!! What an amazing voice.
Sorry nurses ball this year especially sad since it was GH 60th this year.

Kelly Monaco Celebrates 20 Years on GH and Sam’s Evolution: “All the Pieces Don’t Fit Perfectly Yet, But It’s Certainly Not Broken Anymore!”

Sunday, October 1st will mark the 20th anniversary of Kelly Monaco’s debut on General Hospital as Sam McCall. And as the story goes, when Kelly finished her run on Port Charles as Livvie Locke (2000-2003), and the show had been canceled, the three major networks were all interested in her to join their soaps.
In the end, GH won out and fans of the ABC daytime drama series have been the lucky ones to have Monaco join the A-list cast of the iconic soap. Throughout Sam’s journey in Port Charles, viewers have seen quite the character growth. Sam started on the show as a con and hustler, and bloomed into a bonafide heroine and a private investigator.
Kelly shared with Soap Opera Digest in their latest issue, how she viewed the Sam of old, to the Sam of today: “Sam came on to the canvas only having herself and her brother, always taking care of someone, and never being taken care of. I think the biggest evolution for her is starting from being a really lonely, scared woman and becoming a woman who is still really independent, but is protected by family and friends and love and relationships and loyalty, and she never had that before.”

In a very poetic way, Monaco added on her character’s development: “She came in bent and broken, and I feel like there’s a lot of her that’s still broken, but she’s constantly sort of putting the Rubik’s Cube together. All the pieces don’t fit perfectly, yet, but it’s certainly not broken anymore.”
Throughout Sam’s two decades in Port Charles she has been in love, suffered terrible lost, found family members, had children, and has been involved in some of the most dangerous and criminal cases involving many a villain as she tried to help bring them to justice.

Photo: ABC
Currently, Sam is involved in a romance with Dante Falconeri (Dominic Zamprogna). Viewers wonder if Lulu ever wakes up out of her coma, would that spell trouble for their relationship, and in turn, give Kelly some great meaty story to work with?
Now, in the comment section below, share your congrats to Kelly for her 20-year-run on GH. Then let us know, what has been your favorite Sam story over the years?
