GENERAL HOSPITAL: A Wedding, A Serial Killer & The Heartbreaking Truth

On Monday’s episode of General Hospital, several residents finds themselves at crossroads and one in instant peril, as Thanksgiving continues in Port Charles.

In touching scenes played by Eden McCoy (Josslyn) and Garren Stitt (Oscar), Josslyn confronts Oscar that she knows he is sick.  Oscar is furious with Cameron for telling her. Josslyn is saddened that he pushed her away, saying they will fight this together.  He reveals to her that he has an inoperable brain tumor and will die and has but a year to live. Oscar does tell her about the drug trial that could save his life, but he won’t to it, because of the potential side effects that could wrong with it, and that he wants to live out what time he has on his terms.

Laura (Genie Francis) walks in on who she believes is her husband, Kevin, but it’s Ryan (Jon Lindstrom) in a big smooch with Ava Jerome (Maura West).   Ryan tells Laura their marriage is over.  A shocked and devastated Laura tells him the fact that he is with a woman who sold out her son, makes this the ultimate betrayal.  She rips up Ava’s donation to her mayoral campaign, which is why she came to the Jerome gallery in the first place, and walked in on the lip-lock.  Laura also tells Ryan she see’s nothing behind his eyes anymore that remotely reminds her of the Kevin she married.   Can Laura figure this out?

After Laura leaves, Ryan and Ava admit they enjoyed that kiss . Ava suggests they spend Thanksgiving together.  Ryan reveals he is so glad she didn’t leave town. However, Ava says she still may have to leave Port Charles, because she can’t stand to be in the same town with Kiki.  When Ava suggests they go to her place, Ryan offers to meet her there because he has some business to take care of, first.

Griffin (Matt Cohen) and Kiki (Hayley Erin) are late to Curtis (Donnell Turner) and Jordan’s (Briana Nicole Henry) wedding, after they decide to undress (after they get dressed to the nines for the nuptials) and have sex.  After they make love, Griffin gets a call from Monica (Leslie Charleson) saying that the boards results are in as to if he has been reinstated at the hospital. Those results are at GH, and he should pick them up there.  Since they are late for the wedding, Griffin heads out to the hospital, while Kiki gets ready to head to the wedding and meet him there.

At the Q’s Thanksgiving celebration, Kim (Tamara Braun) tells Julian (William deVry) that she wants his goons to kidnap Oscar if he wins his emancipation trial from his parents, and take him to Brazil for the treatment that will save his life.  Drew (Billy Miller) overhears this and is enraged that she would do such a thing to their son.

Curtis and Jordan are now getting ready to say their “I do’s” when the minister asks if there is anyone that has just cause that the duo should not be wed in holy matrimony.  Cue, Stella (Vernee Watson) who walks in looking very unhappy.  Will she unravel the wedding … or sit down and be a part of the celebration after getting some words of wisdom from Mike (Max Gail)?

At the end of the episode, we come upon a few key moments:  Oscar shows up at the Q’s door as his parents Drew and Kim are thrilled to see him, Josslyn comes home to the Corinthos’ and drops to the floor in tears over Oscar, and Ryan shows up at Kiki’s door, just as she is heading out for the wedding, and it looks like he has murder on his mind.

So, is this the end of the road for Kiki?  Will Stella stand down or bust up the nuptials?  Will Oscar have the treatment to try to save his life? What should Laura’s next move be? Share your thoughts via the comment section below.

GENERAL HOSPITAL Flips The Switch In Sonny-Centric Episode Featuring Standout Performances

On Monday, in honor of Maurice Benard’s 25th anniversary as Sonny Corinthos on ABC’s General Hospital, the daytime drama took a look at what life would have been like if Sonny had not fallen in to a life of crime and in the mob. The standalone episode featured the return of Dominic Zamprogna as Sonny’s eldest son, Dante.

But in the twist on ‘soap-reality’, Dante was now the ascending mobster in Port Charles, and Sonny was a sergeant in the police department in Brooklyn married to Olivia Falconeri (Lisa LoCicero).  It all beings when Sonny remembers being 18-years-old and that fatal day when he shot Vincent Marino.  The young Sonny is played by Maurice’s real-life son.   Sonny then dreams of what would have happened to him if he never pulled that trigger.

Sonny is now a by-the-book cop, who visits his son Dante along with Olivia.  When they get there, Dante is now married to Sam (Kelly Monaco), who is his trophy wife.  Dante is working for the Jerome family – enter Julian (William deVry) and Ava (Maura WestO – and we quickly learn that “Jason Smith” is the hit man who works for them.  And, wouldn’t you know?  Seems like Ava and Jason have a “thing” going on … sealed with a kiss.

Now disturbed by his son’s life of crime, Sonny goes to the PCPD to talk to the police commissioner, who is now Anna Devane (Finola Hughes).  In the story, Anna is very inward, depressed, and more.  We find out that her daughter, Robin died of complications from AIDS in the 90’s, in which Anna has never recovered from.   We also learn at the PCPD that Alexis (Nancy Lee Grahn) is the current District Attorney.

Carly (Laura Wright) enters the scene, and she is still married to A. J. Quartermaine.  Sonny takes a liking to her and vice-versa.  We later learn that Jordan (Briana Nicole Henry) is back working for the DEA and Dante has gone undercover to bring down the Jeromes; so the entire territory is under his control.

Dante and Sam have a major falling out, as he is excited by the power he will have once he rids the Jeromes out of his business.  Sam has had it. She doesn’t want to dress like this, be his trophy wife, or have this kind of life. When Dante walks out, an upset Sam is alone with Jason, and the two connect.

In the conclusion of the episode, Dante shoots Jason on the pier, a scene which Sonny walks in on.  Sonny and his son struggle for the gun, and once again Dante is shot, just like in the original version of the story years ago, but with the twist of the struggle.  Olivia comes running onto the pier and sees Dante shot, and yells at Sonny the signature line, “You shot your own son!”

At the end of the dream, Sony goes back to the mark in time where he decides whether or not to pull the trigger on Marino with Mike (Max Gail) and him looking on at the young version of himself.  In the end, Sonny still pulls the trigger.

The episode featured stand-out performances by: Dominic Zamprogna (how great was it to see him again, and to see him play Dante’s dark side), Maurice Benard (who illustrated the other side of Sonny, more reserved, and delivered a heartbreaking speech as Sonny to Dante about his life being abused, and the choices he made), Kelly Monaco (who showed a woman unhappy with the outward shell she had created and been a part of), and Finola Hughes, who gave us a different look  at what life would have been like for Anna had Robin been taken from her years ago.  Additionally, it was nice to see the entire cast deliver in support of making this episode work in the ‘flip the switch’ sequence of events.

So, what did you think of the Sonny-centric episode? Who was your favorite in it?  Share your thoughts via the comment section below.

GENERAL HOSPITAL: Sasha and Valentin’s Secret Out Of The Bag: So Where Is Nina’s Real Daughter?

As many had suspected, there was something up in the relationship between Valentin (James Patrick Stuart) and relative newbie to Port Charles, Sasha Gilmore (Sofia Mattsson).

The young woman who was introduced on the show back in the middle of September, and “turned out” to be Nina’s (Michelle Stafford) biological daughter (the one she gave birth to years ago), is not telling the truth, nor is Valentin,

At the end of Friday’s episode of General Hospital, Sasha is visiting Valentin at Wyndemere, where he tells her he wants her to go back to where she came from, and that if she sticks around, the truth will come out.

A confident Sasha says she won’t blow this and that no one will ever find out that she is not Nina’s daughter.  Thus meaning, Valentin set this whole ruse up to wrangle Nina back into a romance and marriage with him.

But as for Sasha, she clearly is intent on not leaving town, and getting her claws into Griffin (Matt Cohen), even though he is dating her “sister” Kiki (Hayley Erin).

Even Ava (Maura West) is telling Sasha to go after her daughter’s man, because, as we know, Ava is a woman scorned in regard to Griffin. And let’s not forget that Ava and Nina are longtime nemesis, too.  Adding to the confusion and deception are those second DNA results that came back positive to prove to Nina that Sasha is her bio-daughter, but she clearly isn’t.

So now that we know Sasha is a fake, that begs the questions … Is Nina’s daughter even alive?  If she is alive, where is she, and who is she?

Share your thoughts on where, or who Nina’s real daughter is, and what you think of the collision between Valentin and Sasha, via the comment section below.
