General Hospital’s executive producer, Frank Valentini, participated on Tuesday in his first ever “#AskGH on social media, where fans of the series ask questions and get real-time answers from one of the cast, or behind the scened personnel of the ABC daytime drama series.
During Valentini’s #AskGH he fielded several questions, but one in particular had fans intrigued when the EP was asked: “Will Griffin be getting a love interest in the near future? Matt Cohen is so talented & handsome #AskGH #GriLiz”
To which, the EP answered: @Julie_foxy @mattcohen4real YES! … and you’ll NEVER guess who! #GH #AskGH”
For some time now since the release of GH’s sexy winter promo – which has Griffin in the forefront of the shot and Liz (Rebecca Herbst) and Franco (Roger Howarth) behind him – speculation has run wild that Griffin might be a new love in Liz’s life. Could Valentini be talking about Liz … or someone else on the canvas who will catch the eye of Dr. Munro ? If it isn’t Liz, who might it be?

CeeCee…Matt Cohen is fantastic! I’ve seen him on videos…his baby son…precious!!!…Matt’s personality is so much more vibrant than his on-screen character. He’s hilarious, deep, intelligent, perceptive…personable…looks AND personality. Oh, and he’s not as “soft” featured in that delicate way he comes across on GH. His hair is long, swept back, he’s got a little 5’oclock shadow…or he wears a cool knit cap…
He’s been in How To Get Away With Murder, Supernatural and now in the spin-off Criminal Mind show.
Believe it or not…he was thinking about going into boxing…and it’s a favorite pasttime of his (in addition to building things…he was a contractor during college.)
Funny and a tribute to an actor’s ability, to come off so “mellow” and almost meekish when in reality there’s a very strong, vibrant personality in the actor.
Just thought, in case you didn’t know much about him, that you’d be interested. I know you’re a fan of his as I am.

Griffin and Lucas I would’ve bought it, definitely would’ve been more interesting than being a doctor/priest in love with some side character that no one ever wants to see again. His relationships with women seemed kind of forced to me, in particular Claudette and Maxie for a hot minute, abandoned for some reason, maybe because they couldn’t make it plausible. Griffin/Liz I can see because Liz has chemistry with an empty candy wrapper, so all of her pairings work, even when she’s dating two at the same time! So maybe Griffin can finally become as interesting as he should be., other than his looks.

I do believe you are right about this one, Timmm…Griffin really doesn’t “ping” for me on that level, either…especially when you consider his overwhelming passion for Claudette! Had he preferred men, he could have just as easily remained hidden behind the “cover of his cassock”—figuratively speaking—and secretly explored his sexuality if his proclivities were of that variety, yet he totally risked–and lost—his chosen vocation for the out-of-control love he possessed for a woman. I think that says it all despite the desired wish-fulfillment expressed by some here.

Well, it would certainly seem so, Rhonda…then again, we were so convinced that there would be these great denouements regarding the true parentage of Kiki, Nathan, Brad, Nelle, etc., etc., etc, and we are either still waiting for or have been left terribly disappointed by the supposed outcomes of those wholly expected announcements, so I’m no longer holding my breath for Anna to be revealed as Griffin’s mother. At this point, I’m not even wanting that to happen anymore, because I do see such beautiful romantic possibilities for these two incredible people…chemistry is such a rare thing for GH couples these days, so if they can make it work between these characters, then I say go for it.

By the same token, Olivia’s voodoo, black magic, witchcraft; whatever, worked ? In that case, Dukes’s essence, embodied in Griffin, has a choice to make…what to do, oh, what to do. Anna or Olivia? DOUBLE LOL.
Anna has been talking about the baby she miscarried after Olivia rigged the hospital elevator. That occurred about 27 years ago. The baby she “miscarried” very well could turn out to be Griffin. There have been so many bread crumbs leading up to this great reveal.

It sure seems to point in that direction, Rhonda. I didn’t know Anna had a presumed miscarriage with Duke’s baby. I was only aware of her losing Leora ( David’s baby with Anna), soon after birth.
Hey, CeeCee, that was moi who referred to “The Sonny and Carly Show!” I remember dedicating an entire post to all the alternative Sonny-centric titles I could propose for GH….Alas, I do believe it was moderated, but I can recall that two favorites were “The Sonny Also Rises,” and “It’s Always Sonny in Port Charles.” Oh, and of course, “Everybody Loves Sonny.” You get the idea….LOL!
Even though it has been campy, absurd, and over the top…..it is roping in GH vets, and mining history with awesome flashbacks. And ANY episode that does NOT feature Sonny or Carly gets a gold star from me! It is shocking how much I actually enjoy this show when they are not on screen! It is awesome to see Laura involved in story…ANY story! Great to see Nora….how about a Ladies who Lunch episode…..with all the mature women…Diane, Alexis, Tracy, Laura, Monica. I cannot be a card carrying fan of this show until the stain of Sonny Corinthos is gone from the show forever.

But, sometimes I am so lost when the vets come on, or when ‘old’ storylines are revisited.
For example, I thought the custody hearing was a sham; a farce.
Didn’t Valentin steal the embryo? That’s kidnapping in itself. The fact that Lulu had no idea her embryo ( which she thought had perished in that explosion?) was in someone else’s grasp, should have been enough to take Charlotte away. Why was that not brought up?
Well, I still think Valentin is Stavros in Valentin mask-mode. LOL.
And, Nina has something up her sleeve. I am almost positive. It’s possible she’ll take Valentin to court for full custody, herself. LOL.

Drugged her….forced her to deliver a baby, and then kidnapped her??How awesome would it have been to see Diane call in a witness…and Ava comes sauntering in? If that helped get Dante and Lulu custody…then sonny would owe Ava!! Not to mention that Nina was in a coma for 20 years and has Mental problems and NO clue how to raise a child!! Courts on soaps are farces and ridiculously one sided! Could Lulu have a story that does not involve an embryo and a custody fight??
I agree with all of that, love your Ladies who lunch idea, because the ladies are the strongest on this show, especially the ones you mentioned. I can’t stand Sonny and Carly, especially together, as a matter of fact, I can’t stand their family either. All that damn whining about Morgan when all they did was coddle him and inadvertently allow what happen to him. Sonny was dead to me after he killed A.J.

I really like Anna & Griffin together! I know, I know, Duke’s son and all but this would be a great story; Anna & Griffin’s guilt for falling in love. I’d go for it!

Yes, Yes, YES, Ces! I’ve long suggested that these two would make a spectacular couple…there is something so timeless and ageless about their connection, which was almost instantaneous when first they met….it’s a true, proper love. And given that Anna is a woman who seems far more youthful than her actual years, this pairing doesn’t inspire the same sort of pause (okay, revulsion….) that I get every time Julian and Alexis go at it with the horizontal rumpy-pumpy.
I can see that, my Shay. Age aside, they do have a connection. Nonetheless, this connection may be due to that mystifying bond between mother and child. Perhaps that is what we saw/sensed.
A good example is Lulu’s reaction when she first laid eyes on Charlotte.
Also, even if Griffin is not Anna’s son, there would always be that persistent elephant in the room: Duke. Would Anna’s love for Griffin be confused with her love for Duke? Would Griffin just be a substitute? A very thin line there.

Anyway, Griffin really lights up with Anna and Anna is SO at ease with him. I think they have this combustive chemistry that is under the surface and needs to be tapped into. I really hope he doesn’t turn out to be Anna’s son because they have chemistry and Anna needs a love interest already.
I think there are so many levels here that GH can play.
The Anna/Andre (drip) story does not need to be revisited.
Griffin never knew Duke and Anna can fight her feelings for Griffin/Duke … hell, really, does it matter? Duke didn’t know Griffin either so he’s like a new man altogether. GH need to explore this!
I simply loved the elevator scene, today. Finola can bring every moment to life.
I felt the tension ( due to the bomb)….the suspense with Robin. Mother and daughter exchanging agonizingly long stares. Even Billy/Jason stepped up…literally, LOL.

I will admit that I truly like Nancy and have come to respect Alexis’ persona, sans Julian. I just do not like him ( not that it matters, LOL)…. I think Alexis can do better. He is just doom and gloom in her life. ….like standing at the edge of a steep, craggy cliff, ready to fall into the abyss.
She is, I think, ten years William’s senior….not that she looks it. I think she looks wonderful.
In the show, Alexis is younger than Julian.
I love the easiness between Anna and Griffin. Yet, I can’t see anything romantic, until everything is cleared up. Is she his mother? It’s weird thinking anything else, at this point.
PS….what well-trained cop goes after a dangerous murderer on her own, without back-up?
I am truly enjoying GH, but these writers need to think before applying ink to paper. They must know we, the viewers, can’t always accept these shortcomings.
Hey, hey Celia! I really hope that Griffin is not Anna’s son; what a waste of a good storyline. She doesn’t need another kid, she needs a lover. There isn’t anyone on the show they can currently pair Griffin with anyway! unless Roger Howarth is leaving, they won’t pair him with Liz anytime soon.

I really had no clue of the age difference between Alexis & Julian. NLG looks terrific. Ha, I never did like him in this little panties and their sex romps though.. but I like their scenes together when their is tension.

Thank you, Celia….Yes, I was referring to the oft-discussed discrepancies regarding the supposed ages of Alexis and Julian and how they don’t add up when you compare their storyline vs. the real-life years of their portrayers. However, to further clarify, I was also commenting on their overly-vigorous, adolescent-style acts of carpet-burning copulation that left me wanting to hurl. That is something I cannot imagine with the achingly romantic Anna and the gallant Griffin should they become a couple, provided, of course, that it is first conclusively proved they are NOT mother and son!!!!

As we know real life age differences have no baring on acting or the relationships people play with one another. And, they shouldn’t. There are always characters in every genre…film, theatre, TV where one actor is older than another yet the opposite is true in the story. Who cares? Who analyzes it like that? Makes no difference. As Ces said, to top it off there’s no discernible difference in Nancy and William. I would never have guessed she was older than him in real life.
Where I do agree is the exaggerated sex life they gave them. And I don’t mean the lust or passion…I just mean it was over acted. I’d actually love to see them get back together and eventually have realistic love scenes…less frenzied. They need to tone down their acting in those scenes so that they don’t come across as farcical.
@Ces….I really appreciate your enthusiasm for the proposed pairing of Anna and Griffin…I can tell you have put a lot of thought into it! (Especially on the part of Griffin…LOL.)

Yes, our “Lady Anna” deserves “some lovin”,” but she also needs a really good man and a stable, substantial relationship…for those of us who have watched her through the years, we know that she tends to lead with her heart and mind when it comes to romantic matters—not just her nether regions, like say, Alexis—so her recently past dalliances, especially with that slimy Sloan, really didn’t ring true for me…it actually utterly appalled and disgusted me in the manner their involvement was written. (And even the Luke fling was not a particularly high note in this character’s experience, although at least they did have some shared emotional history which resulted in their brief alliance….) I harbor much greater expectations for a more upstanding and storybook tale for this classy, sophisticated woman…I hope that this time will be the charm!

LOL. Poor Franco! He’s a great character and IS great with Liz’s boys. Lil Jake adores him. But, I agree, he’s not at his physical best in this role. He really is such a good-looking guy, but they’ve tried to replicate his Todd look and it doesn’t work here. I love longish hair…I think they should keep it…but they need to let him seem less “slumpish.”
I’m conflicted. I’m a big fan of Franco and Liz. I really do think they have great chemistry; they have a natural rapport and I think the diaglog between them is very realistic. I also like that they’re both artists and if they stay together there could be some really romantic scenes of them sharing a studio and painting together; inspiring each other. They just dropped Liz and her painting…it would bring her back to that passion.
Sigh. On the other hand…Griffin and Liz make such a fine-looking couple!!! And, he’d be so good for her.

Send her far away! No offense to the actress…but the whole Valerie character was an unfortunate combination of bad writing, short term vision, and seriously limited acting ability. Nothing about this character has ever worked in any way. Every time she is on screen, it is painfully forced and awkward.

I hope they bring back Brook Lynn Ashton for the Quartermaine family especially Ned Ashton, also to sing on the show again and pair her with Dr. Griffin Munro. I LIKE how she’s given Franco the benefit of the doubt several times. So I’d like to see them stay together. (Unless they have plans to make Franco psycho again.)

I’m not sold on Liz and Franco at all. But that’s not their fault…it’s the writers yet again trying to find a place for Franco. And fitting a square peg into a round hole. If anything right now I would like him to stumble onto Olivia and out manoeuvre her as only one crazy with experience could do.
But I don’t want to see Liz and Griffin either. Granted they would “look” good together, but their personalities would soon turn them into a boring couple. And anyway, what is it about Liz that she gets a chance with so many guys. The never work out for “sweet” Liz, or vs versa.
But a love interest for Griffin…really not much to pick from..unless Ron and writers might let him carry on Olivia’s “spell” for a while…at which point all bets are off. But please not Anna. And since Robin could be his sister and only in town for a while, not her. So I guess I’ll have to wait to be surprised.
Lets bring in a new a new character.
The never guess who… would seem to refer to Olivia. I would hope it would be Anna.
I don’t like any of the women on GH right now for Griffin. Bring on someone new for him.

If they’re sticking in his age group, there’s not a lot of possibilities on the canvas. Lulu and Dante are endgame, Maxie and Nathan are in a holding pattern. Valerie was taken off contract because they couldn’t write for her. Elizabeth is rather obvious, so I guess he’ll be next on the “let’s see if anything sticks with Hayden” game.

I want Griffin and Elizabeth. I’ve loved Matt Cohen and Rebecca Herbst’s chemistry since Cohen started appearing on the show. I was already a fan of both performers before Cohen appeared and I think Griffin and Elizabeth would be fabulous together. A doctor and nurse, two characters with complex pasts, already existing chemistry…it’s just waiting to be written.
I got that feeling, too, Jen….and then, there’s Franco. Sweet at first….but, it seems to me that Lizzie has four sons, now. I find Franco to be needy and insecure.
How about something really novel and let the priest stay a priest– he ends up with God.

Only in soaps, my dear lady, only in soaps…..in the real world, “Father” Griffin can never go back to the priesthood. As I said, he is a priest in name only, for “stepping” out; unless canon law is re-written.
In the real world he would still be a priest, Holy Orders cannot be undone– in God’s eyes he is a priest forever. But a priest can ask to be let out of practicing or they can be forced from practicing under certain circumstances.
When the character first came on the show, he said he was taking a leave of absence, which is different than formally asking Rome to release him from him from his vocation, which can take years — nor is a leave of absence the same as being “fired” for stepping out.
Priest do not automatically get defrocked for having sex– if they try to get marry they will be– if they live openly in a sexual relationship they will be– but for being weak and having a fling– no. If every priest whoever had sex was removed from practicing they would be even less priests than there are.
It is part of Church teaching that celibacy for anyone is an ongoing work, which means they expect priests to slip up now and then– so technically if Griffin was a real priest, if he wanted to go back he could.
But the show has made it seemed it was his choice not to practice his vocation because he felt unworthy of it because his sin, sleeping with a married woman, caused so much pain to all involved and he ended up being shot for it. But like you said it is a soap so they don’t bother with details like if he really wants to have a relationship with a woman or man, he should be asking to be released from priesthood before doing so.

I know I have said this ad nauseam, and I apologize…….With ‘permission’ from the Vatican, a RC priest is allowed a leave of absence, up to three years ….with a plausible reason but, he is to remain celibate. Eastern Catholic priests are allowed martiage, and ‘other’ limited activities, but not those of the Roman Catholic persuasion.
If he has sex, he cannot, by canon law, do any ‘priestly things’, except hear confession. He cannot even give absolution becsuse he broke canon law.
So, TPTB take too many liberties…..such as getting married in the RC Church more than once. Only a widow/widower can fo that.
Matt’s too heartthrob good-looking to be wasted on that type of role. He needs to be in the action..an .exciting, charming, love interest. GH needs more leading men. It doesn’t need a priest.

Not to be a buzzkill but I don’t think Frank has any big love story planned for Griffin at this time. I think they inserted Griffin into the winter romance promo to test the fans reactions. Right now Friz is a fairly popular couple & maybe they didn’t get the reaction they were hoping for. As a huge fan of Griliz I don’t really like how the writers baited us with this idea, only to have zero follow through.
Griffin/Elizabeth as friends or lovers would be wonderful to me. Matt/Becky absolutely light up in their scenes, but the writers will write as they wish.
As for Griffin, I don’t think pairing him with a random newbie would be a good idea. if I can’t have Liz/Griffin, then I like his chemistry with Lucas, but he’s married, so that seems kind of iffy.
I think if the writers want a long term, viable & intriguing romance they will do a slow burn with Griffin & Elizabeth. That is what I would personally want!

A slow burn would be fantastic. I already felt that they were building up to Griffin and Elizabeth then the winter promo came out and I was thrilled, but then there have been just a couple of scenes since December. I really want to see GH take advantage of the chemistry. It’s wonderful.
I wish the writers would give Griffin and Liz a chance to be love interests. The potential is there and amamzing chemistry is there! At least a deeper friendship should be happening. These two shine in scenes together!

51st Daytime Emmys: Outstanding Daytime Drama Series Nominations
On Thursday, the 51st annual Daytime Emmy Awards revealed nominations in several key categories via four entertainment news programs: Access Hollywood, E! News, Extra and Access Hollywood.
Three of the four announcements were major categories in the field of Daytime Dramas.
The nominees in the Outstanding Daytime Drama Series category are: The Bay, The Bold and the Beautiful, Days of our Lives, General Hospital, Neighbours and The Young and the Restless.

General Hospital won this category last year, and has the most all-time wins for a series in this category. For the first time, the beloved Australian-based soap opera, Neighbours is now eligible for competition due to its reboot which streams on Amazon Freevee.

The 51st annual Daytime Emmy Awards will be handed out in ceremonies in Los Angeles and broadcast live on CBS and streaming on Paramount+ on Friday night, June 7th.
Previous categories announced tonight via the entertainment news outlet included: Lead Actor and Lead Actress in a Drama Series.

51st Daytime Emmys: Tamara Braun, Finola Hughes, Katherine Kelly Lang, Annika Noelle, Michelle Stafford, Cynthia Watros Score Lead Actress Nominations
The nominations were revealed for the 51st annual Daytime Emmys. in the prestigious Lead Actress in a Drama Series category by Entertainment Tonight.
This comes ahead of tomorrow’s full list that is set to be unveiled at 12noon/9am PST on Friday.
In the running for this year’s Outstanding Lead Actress are Tamara Braun (Ava, Days of our Lives), Katherine Kelly Lang (Brooke, The Bold and the Beautiful), Annika Noelle (Hope, The Bold and the Beautiful), Finola Hughes (Anna, General Hospital), Cynthia Watros (Nina, General Hospital) and Michelle Stafford (Phyllis, The Young and the Restless).

Previous winners in this category include GH’s Finola Hughes, Cynthia Watros and Y&R’s Michelle Stafford. Days of our Lives nominee had won in the Supporting Actress category twice in her career.

More of the Story on ‘General Hospital’ Star Josh Kelly’s Latest Film Role in ‘The Workout’
We had previously shared that General Hospital’s Josh Kelly was taking three weeks away from his role of Cody Bell to a shoot a role in an upcoming movie entitled The Workout.
Josh originally revealed his role in the film during an episode of GH castmates, Steve Burton (Jason) and Bradford Anderson’s (Spinelli) podcast.
Now Deadline has filled in some of the blanks, and shared some intriguing intel on the premise of the film and its back-story. The film stars Kelly along with Peter Jae, and UFC Fighter, Ashlee Evans-Smith. Other cast members include The Bay’s Kristos Andrews.

In The Workout, two army rangers set out to create a workout video, but their plans are abruptly halted when a mob hit interrupts their filming. Tragically, one of the rangers loses his wife in the attack, sending him on a relentless mission to take down the mob and anyone who stands in his way.
The film from James Cullen Bressack, almost did not get financed. Apparently, ten days before his birthday, Bressack made a post on Instagram about the feature and production, casting, and financing came from the post … illustrating the power of social media. After the post gained traction, a producer provided financing and actors expressed interest in joining the project, leading to a quick production.

In a statement, Bressack shared, “As artists a painter paints, a musician makes music, a writer writes, but as filmmakers we have to ask permission to create. It’s time to change that narrative. This film spawned from a necessity to create. We create. We tell stories. We play pretend. I’m excited to take this journey. This is the truest form of collaboration and a community of friends coming together to make something fun. While our industry has had a rough time recently with strikes and a possible strike looming in the future, it’s nice to remind ourselves why we got into film to begin with. To have fun telling stories.”
No word yet on when The Workout will be released.
