Good Morning America pays tribute to One Life to Live this Monday!

One Life to Live fans, make sure not to miss this coming Monday’s January 9th episode of Good Morning America on ABC.  That is when GMA’s special correspondent and former star of All My Children, Cameron Mathison (Ryan) will host a very special segment as the show pays tribute to OLTL as the iconic show draws to an end and becomes part of television history, while the viewers at home get ready to watch the last five episodes as it wraps up its final week of airshows!

We are hoping they will look at the history, interview the actors in the current cast, and gives us a behind-the-scene glimpse of the final days of life in Llanview.  Whatever the case, make sure not to miss it!

I hate abc. Prospect park needs to send the soap to cable… but then again they were in on it with Frons… they just wanted the fans to shut up. This show NEVER should have been canned…. Someone feel free to tell ABC that OLTL trended 2 days in a row world wide. And also tell Disney the phrase Disney is pathetic trended too….

This may help;
Twitter’s Trending Topics algorithm identifies topics that are immediately popular, rather than topics that have been popular for a while or on a daily basis, to help people discover the “most breaking” news stories from across the world. We think that trending topics which capture the hottest emerging trends and topics of discussion on Twitter are the most interesting.

This was not Fronz’ idea – this was all Ann Sweeney – new head of ABC at Disney. I’m thinking the new name of ABC should be the Already Been Canceled network. Such a shame because so many people worked so hard to bring this network up and now one person is taking it down.

Thanks for the heads up on GMA monday.

FYI- People magazine has Erica Slezak on the cover and several pages of pictures of current cast and comments in magazine.

I did see that, pretty cool that they had so many pages and featured most of the actors and gave them a photo shoot.
So sad that all the cancelled shows get the best publicity when they are canned.

I’ve always known somehow that Fronz wasn’t behind this all by himself. He answers to somebody., so I AGREE with you. Ann should share som of the responsibility, OR all………….of it at this juncture bc she isn’t doing anything about it. JOIN US in sending bar’s of soap to the ABC studio’s in nyc. Abc can use them to clean up the mess they have made. Better stll the soap should be sent to Ann Sweeney, who is present and in a positon to change things around NOW. Let abc studio’s be BOMBARDED by soap arriving to the studio by… Read more »

All I can say is that I’m thankful that it’s Frons instead of Sweeney who made the decision to cancel the soaps. That woman wanted to cancel General Hospital along with the other two soaps.

I’ve read that Frons successor, Vicki Dummer, is not better than the rest of them. Actually, she’s worst. Whereas Frons had somewhat of a background in soap operas (having, for example, appeared on the soap opera Santa Barbara in 1989), Dummer is all 100% about reality television and so-called “lifestyle” shows.

the demise of daytime television ,bring back all the soaps,we want entertainment not cheap talk and food stuff ,shows like that are for idiots, thats why I wont be tuning in ,who hires someone who is the queen of reality shows?I would love to be a fly on a wall and find out the real reason abc got rid of frons,It cant be that he was the only one with the balls to kill all my children and one life to live.unless they wanted us to think that he is the reason the soaps are gone ,all of us head honchos… Read more »

From my personal point of view, I think that Frons got into an argument with the management of ABC over the future of General Hospital. ABC wants General Hospital out of the picture while Frons wants it to stay on the air.

Frons has always liked General Hospital. I don’t know what are his reasons for his love for GH. But long before the announcement was made that Frons would be leaving the company, I knew it all along that it would be impossible for Frons to cancel GH. Someone else would have to do it.

I will dvr this and only watch the OLTL segment. I understand that the new Soap Opera Digest that’s out has only OLTL in it and nothing else. I haven’t seen it yet but i’m gonna go buy it at the store this week. I did see the People magazine with Erika Slezak on the cover (a small pic) and it has like 6 pages in it of OLTL, I was surprised to see that! The only thing I saw in Entertainment Weekly was the article about Lindsey back on the show. I hope the new one has an article… Read more »

Hey Blake, telll me something, did Soap Opera Digest devote the entire magazine to AMC when it went off? Let me know. And what did people magazine do in honor of AMC, or Entertainment Weekly.

Blake

No AMC did not get all of that but they got at least one whole special magazine for themselves and got more news coverage.

Why are you giving me attitude about AMC? I didn’t say anything about AMC. So back off.

Hey Blake, telll me something, did Soap Opera Digest devote the entire magazine to AMC when it went off? Let me know. And what did people magazine do in honor of AMC, or Entertainment Weekly.) Where do you see ATTITUDE in my question? If you read very closely, I’m merely asking a question, and I ask pcolitely, “Let me know”. In contrast, you need to BACK OFF away from your OWN SELF. Your a DANGER to yourself IF YOU FIND a simple question to be Threatening. When I read your response, I first thought, “Oh, ok, he’s right, maybe AMC… Read more »

I do not understand how so many can give Frons the power to cancel the soaps..
Frons never had the power to cancel the soaps, why give make him out to be what he was not/ a power head of ABC/D with the power..
Blame whom is actually the head of the cancellations, and that would not be Frons.

It is a terrible mistake to kill-off OLTL.. It is very strong and wanted by millions.
I have a problem believing that in a few days OLTL will be dead, I still see it being revived.

Hey, Thank you for explaining that trending thing. It’s just a new term, I gathered how U explained it, which helps decribe what’s going on on twitter. (It’s a TRENDY word too lol.) I hear it when they use it on the news and I’m not sure what it means, I dont twitter or Facebook. I only wanted to know bc it was posted that OLTL was ‘trending’ all over the world. I know OLTL is not known ALL OVER THE WORLD, so that is why I wanted to know and I suppose Barbara too. So Thank You, for myself… Read more »

Did AMC get this much Bra-hah when they were canceled? I know there was media attention, and I read stuff on abc.com, amd the like…. AMC, I read on this site Sunday, Jan, 9th got the Cover of People Magazine, and more media attention. What Im asking is, in your opionion do you think that AMC got the Fan-fare/ the Fall Out/ the Out Cry as OLTL?

TONIGHT: 73rd Primetime Emmy Awards on CBS

Who will take home the gold at Sunday night’s 73rd annual Primetime Emmy Awards?  Well, from the looks of it .two heavy favorites going into it are Ted Lasso in the comedy categories, and The Crown in the dramatic categories, but as we have seen on previous Emmys there may be upsets afoot.

Other leading contenders through the night will include the series: The Mandalorian, WandaVision, The Handmaid’s Tale, Saturday Night Live, Lovecraft CountryThe Queen’s Gambit and Mare of Easttown.

Cedric the Entertainer will host the three-hour special on CBS beginning at 8 pm EST emanating from the Microsoft Theatre in Los Angeles.  Pandemic and all there will be a return to an opening number.

The broadcast’s executive producer, Ian Stewart, confirmed an opening number, when he previously told Deadline, the number “is going to be a lot of people participating, singing, rapping.  It’s hopefully going to be a very impactful start, a ton of fun.”

The Primetime Emmys will have nominees in attendance, with a more limited amount virtually, and those who have tickets can stay in the venue through the whole show, unlike the Grammys or Oscars were those nominated were ushered in and out.  Look for the Emmys to take place outside the theatre under a tent.

One Life to Live alum Renée  Elise Goldsberry (Ex-Evangeline) will be competing in the Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Limited or Anthology Series or Movie for her role in Hamilton.  Another OLTL alum, Jonathan Groff (Ex-Henry), is nominated for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Limited or Anthology Series or Movie for his role in Hamilton, as well.

In the Outstanding Actor in a Drama Series, Sterling K. Brown tries to win another Emmy for his role as Randall Pearson on This Is Us.   To view all the nominees, head on over to the TV Academy’s website.

This past June, CBS also aired the 48th annual Daytime Emmy Awards in a pre-packaged show for broadcast due to Covid-19 restrictions.

So, who are you rooting for to win the gold at the 73rd annual Primetime Emmy Awards? Comment below.

GENERAL HOSPITAL: Sonny Remembers Carly Just as She Is Marrying Jason

After nine months of being “Mike”, Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard) had a major breakthrough as his memory is all coming back to him now (as the Celine Dion song says), and in the process the Tan-O has burned to the ground, signaling the the probable end to the Nixon Falls arc of the story.

As the story picked-up on Thursday, Nina’s (Cynthia Watros) plot to keep Sonny for herself and away from Carly majorly backfired on her.  Not only does Phyllis (Joyce Guy) now know that Nina lied about “Mike’s” identify the entire time, but Peter August (Wes Ramsey) is running wild and free heading back to Port Charles to claim his baby and Maxie (Kirsten Storms), after setting fire to the building.

Courtesy/ABC

Since “Mike” ran in to save Nina and got hit by a beam in the process, he is alone in the burning Tan-O enveloped by flames, but that triggers the beginning of his memory coming back.

Meanwhile, back in Port Charles, Jason (Steve Burton) and Carly (Laura Wright) are at their wedding, with the five family mob bosses present with a plot of their own and everyone wondering if Jarly will say “I do'”.    The two light a candle together for those loved ones no longer with them … ah, Sonny!

Back the burning Tan-O, Sonny is visited by the vision of the real Mike (Max Gail) who tells him it’s time for him to go home now.  A conflicted Sonny tells Mike he is very happy in Nixon Falls with Nina, but Mike tells him he needs to know his past in order to move forward.  When Sonny has flashes of his violent past it frightens him, and he says whatever family he has is better off without him in their lives.

Jax (Ingo Rademacher) tries to text Maxie while still in Nixon Falls with Nina to watch out for Peter, but she is attending and managing Carly and Sonny’s wedding, so she doesn’t pick up the phone!

Inside the Tan-O, Sonny sees a vision of woman, who when she turns and faces him is Carly. While Sonny is lying on the floor and is engulfed in flames and trapped, Mike tells Sonny he can die as “Mike” or live on as the man he truly is, Sonny.  It is then Sonny calls out “Carly!”

So, what did you think of the episode? Do you think Carly and Jason will get married? Will Sonny tells Nina he remembers? What will Nina’s next move be? Are you glad Sonny seems to have his memory back? The episode featured another strong performance by Maurice Benard.  Share your thoughts below.
