Kelly Sullivan Gives High Praise to ‘General Hospital’s’ Maura West Recalling When Ava Shot Connie (Exclusive)

It was just over 13 years ago on General Hospital when Ava Jerome (Maura West) shot and killed Kate Howard/Connie Falconeri (Kelly Sullivan) in an effort to keep her quiet from revealing that Derek Wells was actually Ava’s back-from-the-dead brother, Julian Jerome (William deVry). It’s a crime that somehow Ava never has quite paid for either.
The episode back aired on August 13, 2013 and viewers had to say goodbye to Kelly Sullivan who played Kate and her alter, Connie. In the story, just before she died, Kate/Connie scrawled the letters AJ in her own blood, initially making the PCPD and Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard) think that it was AJ Quatermaine (Sean Kanan) who did the deed.
Now, Sullivan recalled sharing scenes with the three-time Daytime Emmy-winning West, during a live conversation on You Tube’s Michael Fairman Channel. Kelly was the special guest talking about her recent return to the soaps in her new role as The Bold and the Beautiful’s Darcy Dylan.

FIRST IMPRESSIONS OF MAURA WEST
Speaking of her final GH scenes and working with Maura West, Sullivan gave her then GH co-star major props. “If you’re going to be shot by somebody (on the soaps), you want to be shot by Maura West, c’mon!”
Maura West debuted back in May 2013 as Ava, and Sullivan remembered when the As the World Turns favorite began on GH. “I remember when Maura West first arrived at GH. She walked in with this cute little bob (hairdo) and she’s just delicious,” shared Sullivan.
A STREETCAR NAMED DESIRE
Kelly revealed more about Maura, adding “I think she’s amazing! I remember right before I left the show, someone suggested, and I would still love to do this with her, if she ever want to, but someone suggested that they wanted to direct the stage play A Streetcar Named Desire with Maura and I, where I would play Stella and she would play Blanche! Wouldn’t that be great?”
Speaking of the Ava/Connie showdown scenes, Sullivan expressed, “On television and on General Hospital specifically, Maura West is able to play a character who does the most horrendous things and you still care about her and that’s the mark of a really great actor. In other words, you’re able to be liked in the midst of the most horrendous things, and as a performer not shying away from that, and to just have the courage to do what’s on the page (in the script).”

KELLY SULLIVAN PARTING THOUGHTS AS SHE LEFT GENERAL HOSPITAL
Kelly also shared her sentiments when she walked off the set of General Hospital after her run back in August of 2013. “I really was honored. Every day I would go to work and I would say a little prayer, which is I want to do justice for my character, explained Kelly. “It’s between me and my character. I get to walk this path with her and to leave the show on that note, which is, I left every out there. I just gave it my all and again what an honor it was to play Kate/Connie.”
You can catch the full conversation with Kelly where she talks about her time on General Hospital, The Young and the Restless where she played Sage Warner and now The Bold and the Beautiful below.
So, do you remember the Ava and Connie scenes where Ava shot and killed her? What did you think of Kelly Sullivan’s sentiments about Maura West? Share your thoughts via the comment section. But first, watch the reveal where Ava recalls murdering Connie below!

Steve Burton Reportedly Signs Three-Year Contract with ‘General Hospital’

The question of will Steve Burton (Jason Morgan) stay awhile at General Hospital after his recent extended hiatus from the show earlier this year, has reportedly been answered.
TMZ via court documents obtained in Burton’s ongoing legal battle with his ex-wife Sheree Gustin, shared that Steve actually inked a new three year deal with the ABC soap opera back in June.
That is significant because it was June when Burton returned back to work as Jason. In addition, the court filing confirmed that Burton had already moved back to California from Tennessee.

STEVE’S HIATUS AND HIS RETURN TO PORT CHARLES
GH fans will recall, it was back in February of 2026, that Burton announced via his Instagram that he was stepping away from his role of Jason Morgan for short break and pointed to wanting to spend quality time with his new wife, Michelle Lundstrom Burton with whom he tied the knot back on May 17, 2025.
Steve expressed at that time, “I’m newly married and looking forward to spending some quality time with my family.” It was back on March 25 that viewers saw Jason carted away by the WSB after taking the fall for Rocco Falconeri (Finn Carr) who shot then WSB Director Ross Cullum (Andrew Hawkes).
Burton returned to work on June 1, and due to General Hospital taping roughly six weeks ahead of air, made his on-screen comeback on the July 13 episode.
GOING FOR GOLD AT THE UPCOMING DAYTIME EMMYS
Then, Steve and his enduring fans got an extra special treat on the same day, when it was revealed on Extra that he was nominated for the upcoming 53rd annual Daytime Emmy Awards in the Outstanding Lead Actor in a Daytime Drama Series category.
Steve previously won in the Supporting Actor category for his work as General Hospital’s Jason in 1998 and as The Young and the Restless’ Dylan McAvoy in 2018.
Now with Jason and Britt’s (Kelly Thiebaud) relationship seemingly hitting the skids, plus Jason’s commitment to staying out of mob life to focus on being present for his son Danny Morgan (Asher Antonyzyn), what does the future hold for the fan favorite character? Stay tuned.
So, happy to hear that Steve Burton signed a new three year deal with General Hospital? Knowing that, what storyline would you like to see Jason get involved and with who? Share your thoughts and theories via the comment section.

Jess Walton Memoir ‘The Young and the Rest of Us’ Set for Release in 2027

The Young and the Restless enduring favorite and two-time Daytime Emmy-winning actress, Jess Walton (Jill Foster Abbott) is set to release her memoir!
Kensington Publishing has revealed on their website that Walton’s book The Young and the Rest of Us is now available for pre-order while listing an April 27, 2027 release date. In addition, in June of 2027, Walton will mark her 40th anniversary with The Young and the Restless and her debut as Jill.
The official log lines for the memoir share, “Emmy Award-winning actress Jess Walton, known to millions as the iconic Jill Abbott on the #1 soap opera The Young and the Restless, shares her extraordinary journey to stardom, sobriety, true love, and self-discovery in this startingly candid, intimate, and star-studded memoir.”

CAKE FIGHTS AND CORPORATE INTRIGUE
The book description for The Young and the Rest of Us adds, “In June 1987, Jess Walton walked through the artists’ entrance at CBS for her first day on The Young and the Restless, where she had just been hired to play the recast role of Jill Abbott. Two Emmy awards, four decades, and countless onscreen affairs, marriages, corporate takeovers, and cake fights later, she’s a beloved icon with an astonishing tale to tell.”
“In her refreshingly candid style, Jess shares her journey as a young actress from Toronto theaters to Los Angeles, where she found herself at the center of a Laurel Canyon circle that included the likes of Neil Young, David Geffen, Laura Nyro, and Joni Mitchell. Landing a Universal contract and a steady stream of guest starring roles, Jess embraced everything 1970s L.A. had to offer—including Hollywood parties fueled by limitless booze and drugs, and trysts with stars. She recounts with candor and gratitude the surprising path that eventually led her to sobriety, true love—and ultimately, to fictional Genoa City, Wisconsin, and the role of a lifetime.”
“Brimming with behind-the-scenes drama and celebrity cameos to delight fans, The Young and the Rest of Us is also rich in personal, relatable truths about marriage, motherhood, empty-nesting, self-discovery, and finding the courage to start over—as often as it takes. In a voice as fearless and frank as Jill’s, but with, humor and grace all her own, Jess Walton looks back on a life as unpredictable, and adventure filled as anything she has portrayed on screen.”
WHO ELSE PLAYED JILL FOSER ABBOTT?
Fans of The Young and the Restless know that Walton became the fourth actress to take on the role of Katherine Chancellor’s original nemesis Jill Foster back in 1987. The OG Jill was played by Brenda Dickson, also Deborah Adair, Bond Gideon and Melinda O. Fee played the part.
This year, Days of our Lives star Lauren Koslow (Kate Roberts) filled-in for several episodes for Walton who was unavailable to travel from her home in Oregon to Los Angeles where Y&R was taped. Walton is still with the long-running soap opera as Jill.
So, excited to learn of Jess Walton’s upcoming memoir, ‘The Young and the Rest of Us?’ Will it be it a must-read for you? Drop a comment below.

ABC cans the show but wants to get ratings off of its legacy. Give me a break!
I feel the same ,and Im sure abc will insult us with there boring ,loud commercials of the chew and the revolution .I have no choice but to watch good morning america and the view ,( only to support one life to live) but abc will make out in the ratings ,And I have a problem with that .The view says there will be a big announcement on that day,Are they going to bring on those idiots from the chew ,and share a hamburger or maybe that apple and oranges doctor will give us advice on how to deal with the fact that abc canceled our soaps.Either way abc makes out and that makes me sick.
Oh My God-me too.
I hate abc. Prospect park needs to send the soap to cable… but then again they were in on it with Frons… they just wanted the fans to shut up. This show NEVER should have been canned…. Someone feel free to tell ABC that OLTL trended 2 days in a row world wide. And also tell Disney the phrase Disney is pathetic trended too….
Leah, what do you mean by “OLTL trended 2 days in a row world wide.?” Can you explain that please annd ALSO…….. tell me where I can find that information so that I can understand that statement for myself..
Did Disney trend to or is that you saying that? Please explain. Thanks.
Id like to know to.
This may help;
Twitter’s Trending Topics algorithm identifies topics that are immediately popular, rather than topics that have been popular for a while or on a daily basis, to help people discover the “most breaking” news stories from across the world. We think that trending topics which capture the hottest emerging trends and topics of discussion on Twitter are the most interesting.
I believe she means Trended from Twitter.
Blake (hummm, I just sent you a reply, LOL, and I click on and your answering mine, posed by someone else. Thanks. Ok, what do you mean Trended from Twitter? Explain that for me and Barbara.. And she also said it trended worldwide. I don’t have a clue. Please explain.
Trying googling Trending by Twitter, do I have to do it for you? Geesh.
oh,ok . you do it for me.then let me know.ok.
This was not Fronz’ idea – this was all Ann Sweeney – new head of ABC at Disney. I’m thinking the new name of ABC should be the Already Been Canceled network. Such a shame because so many people worked so hard to bring this network up and now one person is taking it down.
so right you are.And alot of people were involved ,and they wanted there pockets loaded with more cash ,and they are willing to take good programing off ,and throw this garbage at us.abc use to be good ,Im so pissed off at them I didnt even get into the canceling of brothers and sisters boston legal ,I can go on but abc is going down hill fast. Its all cheep programing ,not worth watching tv .boycott abc thats all I can do watch general hospital when it ends change your channel.
Thanks for the heads up on GMA monday.
FYI- People magazine has Erica Slezak on the cover and several pages of pictures of current cast and comments in magazine.
I did see that, pretty cool that they had so many pages and featured most of the actors and gave them a photo shoot.
So sad that all the cancelled shows get the best publicity when they are canned.
I loved the article in People & will save it. I only wish they had shown John & Natalie too!
they cover the show now that its cancelled I hate ABC
ME TOO!
i hate abc too but as a loyal fan of over 40 years i will be watching any tribute to oltl that is being aired…………
I won’t be looking at it.
I’ve always known somehow that Fronz wasn’t behind this all by himself. He answers to somebody., so I AGREE with you. Ann should share som of the responsibility, OR all………….of it at this juncture bc she isn’t doing anything about it.
JOIN US in sending bar’s of soap to the ABC studio’s in nyc. Abc can use them to clean up the mess they have made. Better stll the soap should be sent to Ann Sweeney, who is present and in a positon to change things around NOW. Let abc studio’s be BOMBARDED by soap arriving to the studio by the dozens from people ALL across the Utnited States and Canada. So get your soap (form the dollor store) and get it in the mail.
All I can say is that I’m thankful that it’s Frons instead of Sweeney who made the decision to cancel the soaps. That woman wanted to cancel General Hospital along with the other two soaps.
I’ve read that Frons successor, Vicki Dummer, is not better than the rest of them. Actually, she’s worst. Whereas Frons had somewhat of a background in soap operas (having, for example, appeared on the soap opera Santa Barbara in 1989), Dummer is all 100% about reality television and so-called “lifestyle” shows.
the demise of daytime television ,bring back all the soaps,we want entertainment not cheap talk and food stuff ,shows like that are for idiots, thats why I wont be tuning in ,who hires someone who is the queen of reality shows?I would love to be a fly on a wall and find out the real reason abc got rid of frons,It cant be that he was the only one with the balls to kill all my children and one life to live.unless they wanted us to think that he is the reason the soaps are gone ,all of us head honchos at abc had no Idea what this guy was going to do , we will play stupid ,sorry abc no one is buying into that ,and I ll go further ,I know what your doing with the lets put the cast of one life to live on goodmorning america and the view we will sucker the fans for a few more hours of ratings , maybe you should it will be the last of you high ratings , you alienated alot of people,Is that vicki DUMMERS idea? She will fit in good at abc, with her cheezy cheep reality shows.
From my personal point of view, I think that Frons got into an argument with the management of ABC over the future of General Hospital. ABC wants General Hospital out of the picture while Frons wants it to stay on the air.
Frons has always liked General Hospital. I don’t know what are his reasons for his love for GH. But long before the announcement was made that Frons would be leaving the company, I knew it all along that it would be impossible for Frons to cancel GH. Someone else would have to do it.
I will dvr this and only watch the OLTL segment. I understand that the new Soap Opera Digest that’s out has only OLTL in it and nothing else. I haven’t seen it yet but i’m gonna go buy it at the store this week.
I did see the People magazine with Erika Slezak on the cover (a small pic) and it has like 6 pages in it of OLTL, I was surprised to see that! The only thing I saw in Entertainment Weekly was the article about Lindsey back on the show. I hope the new one has an article about the show ending.
Hey Blake, telll me something, did Soap Opera Digest devote the entire magazine to AMC when it went off? Let me know. And what did people magazine do in honor of AMC, or Entertainment Weekly.
No AMC did not get all of that but they got at least one whole special magazine for themselves and got more news coverage.
Why are you giving me attitude about AMC? I didn’t say anything about AMC. So back off.
Hey Blake, telll me something, did Soap Opera Digest devote the entire magazine to AMC when it went off? Let me know. And what did people magazine do in honor of AMC, or Entertainment Weekly.) Where do you see ATTITUDE in my question? If you read very closely, I’m merely asking a question, and I ask pcolitely, “Let me know”. In contrast, you need to BACK OFF away from your OWN SELF. Your a DANGER to yourself IF YOU FIND a simple question to be Threatening. When I read your response, I first thought, “Oh, ok, he’s right, maybe AMC did get more coverage”. But then I thought. “this week isn’t over with yet”. And then I get to the end of your message, and out the BLUE, you got “BACK OFF” there, and screwed up the whole thing. You OWE me an apology. We are suppose to be working toward the same goal, part of the same movement, and here YOU ARE STARTING TROUBLE. If you dont want to be part of the movement, and be positive with the people involved in it, then you should not be apart of THIS SOCIAL MEDIUM FORMATE. I have been reading conversations from people on this site most of the day, and they haven’t agreed on many things, from the shows, their favorite character’s going to other shows, plots, etc. Even one guy my the name of Scott said he was glad AMC and OLTL were canceled since his CBS soaps were. He called GH boring. I read twhere 2 women, Heather and Barbara went back and forth with Scott over his opinion, BUT never did they get personal, or insult Scott. They just defended their positon, opposed to his. And here your negative behind, I ask you a question, (certainly it wasn’t wasn’t even a negative question, and You telling me I have attitude (behind a question) and to back off. You owe me an apology. If you can’t handle the maturity of this site, you shouldn’t get on. We are respectable adults on this site, fighting the same cause, not one another.
Scott has nothing against AMC. It’s only OLTL that he hates.
I do not understand how so many can give Frons the power to cancel the soaps..
Frons never had the power to cancel the soaps, why give make him out to be what he was not/ a power head of ABC/D with the power..
Blame whom is actually the head of the cancellations, and that would not be Frons.
It is a terrible mistake to kill-off OLTL.. It is very strong and wanted by millions.
I have a problem believing that in a few days OLTL will be dead, I still see it being revived.
Hey, Thank you for explaining that trending thing. It’s just a new term, I gathered how U explained it, which helps decribe what’s going on on twitter. (It’s a TRENDY word too lol.) I hear it when they use it on the news and I’m not sure what it means, I dont twitter or Facebook. I only wanted to know bc it was posted that OLTL was ‘trending’ all over the world. I know OLTL is not known ALL OVER THE WORLD, so that is why I wanted to know and I suppose Barbara too. So Thank You, for myself and Barbara. And see below this post where I have found the OLTL song that someone on here requested. Make sure U STOP at the post office tomorrow and mail out your soap bar’s to the abc studio’s in nyc, to show your fustration. See how the exec’s and new shows feel about being BOMBARDED with soap coming in ALL across the UNITED STATES. Pass this along about the soap and HELP TO POST on this site and other sites. Thanks Again.
thanks for letting us know.
Glad I could help 🙂
Trending is the most popular / hottest topics being talked about /tweeted..
And OLTL was it!! 🙂 Goes to show how deep losing OLTL goes, millions so very upset and heartbroken..
Did AMC get this much Bra-hah when they were canceled? I know there was media attention, and I read stuff on abc.com, amd the like…. AMC, I read on this site Sunday, Jan, 9th got the Cover of People Magazine, and more media attention. What Im asking is, in your opionion do you think that AMC got the Fan-fare/ the Fall Out/ the Out Cry as OLTL?
Someone on here requested the where abouts of this song, just found it, posted below.

i When i foounf out that you could talk to celebs on the internet i was amazed and to be a fan of theirs and to say what i was thinking in the stories of the soaps. i felt like i was in heaven because i never was able to go see them in person but i felt like wow i am getting closer to them just by being able to watch them and comment and now it is going away and i just don’t like it. I mean ABC had Soapnet and ABC to show their shows how can that not be enough. i would go back to ABC to watch but they keep taking our shows away that i am afraid to see what they have on now. and i have been watching abc since Al Albert showcase . what the heck ABC what is going on here. I still love channel six and the weather and all the shows they had before now and taking the soaps off is a big gigantic mistake.
