UPDATED: This afternoon ABC released this official statement welcoming Hayley Erin to the cast as the new Kiki Jerome, “As many of you know, Kristen Alderson has decided to leave General Hospital and start a new professional journey. As a member of our ABC family since she was six years old, we will miss Kristen and wish her only the best in her new ventures. As a result, the role of Kiki Jerome will be recast with Hayley Erin. Hayley will start appearing as Kiki in late February. Please join us in welcoming Hayley to our cast.”
In addition, Kristen Alderson in a very classy move tweeted “Congrats @HayleyErin !!!” Below is the original story we posted from this morning when the story first broke.
News this morning from Daytime Confidential’s Jamey Giddens has that General Hospital has found their Kiki Jerome in actress Hayley Erin! The role had been vacated since Daytime Emmy winner Kristen Alderson elected to not renew her contract, and depart the series, and the daytime landscape for now.
Soap fans recognize Hayley from The Young and the Restless where she played Abby (daughter of Victor and Ashley) from 2008-2010, before being replaced by Emme Rylan, who she will now also work with over at General Hospital, since Emme plays Lulu Spencer Falconeri in Port Charles!

She doesn’t have big shoes to fill. It’s almost like creating a whole new character since Kristen Alderson was so terrifyingly bad as “KiKi.”
Many of us like Kristen and have watched her on OLTL since she was six years old. This new actress and the direction they take the character might be great and I’m open to that…but Kristen and her warm, friendly, earthy portrayal will be missed by many of us who enjoyed seeing her in Port Charles.
I like Kristen and will miss seeing her everyday. She will be missed. Since the role was created for Kristen I wish they had just written KiKi off of the show.

Dan you can’t trash an actor who was thrown into a bad situation with the network. The character did not catch on because RH is still on the canvas as Franco and it just didn’t mesh to have Kirsten hanging on no matter who you called her character. The recast should have been done with the characters becoming other people..most assuredly in this case. They have more for the character to do and it just wasn’t working having Starr as a pivotal character other than Starr. She needed to be released and the character needs to move forward. All for it.
Oh, come on, Leo; that’s a bit of an exaggeration, don’t you think? She didn’t charm me as Kiki the way she had as Starr, but “terrifyingly bad”? I didn’t see that. Sometimes characters just don’t work, despite the best efforts of all concerned; I’d put Kiki in that category. I’m sure the new actress is happy to get the work, and I wish her the best of luck (I think she will need it, if Kiki continues to be such a dud).
Wow…not sure what show You’ve been watching…but Kristen has ALWAYS been a Great Actress…first as Star Manning OLTL….and then as Kiki….it was strange at first that they brought her to GH…hook her up with Michael…as Starr Manning…then back shortly as Kiki…and hooked up with Morgan…then back to Michael…but since she has been Great on GH…and will be missed
I absolutely LOVE Kristen playing the role as KiKi. She’s my favorite actress. I’ve known her from One Life To Live. And she actually had very big shoes to fill. Haley just is not made for the roll. She’s nothing like Kristen….. I wish you luck Kristen! But you will be dearly missed by many!!! GH just isn’t the same….
Sorry, but I have watched GH for a long time. Loved Kristen but do not like Haley. No hard feelings, GH is a top notch soap with incredible top actors and actresses in this field.
I don’t see her fitting in the role. First of all, Haley totally reminds me of Portia de Rossi in Ali Mc Beal. Secondly, she’s too old to play the Kiki character. and she just doesn’t have any chemistry with anyone else, especially Morgan and/or Michael. Sorry, she just doesn’t do it for me.
Hooray!!! Kiki is getting a new face. I hope this means she is getting a personality makeover as well.

Well wonder why they didn’t start calling her Lauren on the show w/KA if that’s what helped kill the character. They could’ve written this character so much better. I hope they realize that and change it.

Well good luck KA. She always did a nice job at OLTL. Too bad for the PP mess & she wasn’t able to stay Starr on GH. But congratulations to Hayley! She’s a very pretty young lady. She looks a little young to be playing someone who’s been married to Morgan, divorced, shacked up w/Michael and now maybe shacked up w/Morgan and raising her sister, her mom’s infant baby as Avery’s mommy and daddy are both in prison for murder-different ones each! LOL. But welcome aboard the crazy train young lady!

She is very pretty. I vaguely remember her on Y&R. I hope she can act and I hope they give her a new personality, a new love interest, and drop that god awful name, KIKI!
Agreed on all counts, though I remember her better when she did an episode of KING OF QUEENS called “Mama Cast.” She played a young girl who was hired to act as part of a family to sell model homes. Carrie (Leah Remini) played the “mom.”

Agreed. I understand why they had to hastily create Kiki. (stupid, stupid name–eve worse than Mimi and Gigi). But with the adorable, unique and talented KA out, why keep this character around at all? Kiki is not really needed.
Today’s GH wasn’t bad, but there were so many characters that it was hard to follow and therefore, I found myself losing interested.
And why oh why when all 100 of the storylines are approaching their climatic peaks, do they trot out Heather? I could see if it was a slow news day in Port Charles.

Oh I think Heather is going to be causing some real havoc for Nina now that she knows Franco likes her. She hates her son so Nina is now a pawn to be used against her son. Lol, Nina wouldn’t get any mama love from Heather even if Franco was in Heathers good graces. If she loves her son no one’s good enough and has to be eliminated. If she hates her son than why let him be happy…I was glad to see Nina back. I’ve grown to like her.
So true, Harry. If this less than scintillating character were not integral enough to pull out all the stops to keep Alderson on board, then why even bother with a recast? A housecleaning of GH’s considerable deadweight is definitely in order—I’m STILL waiting for Sappy to go bye-bye—-so this latest “addition” is indeed puzzling. You are also correct about the use of too many characters in today’s episode….it was quite the mishmash. I could understand the dual prison scenes, and even the way too drawn-out Fluke drama, but could have definitely done without the return of Nina….she has NOT been missed by this poster!!! Me thinks that her new friendship with Heather—which was totally expected at some point since all roads that lead to a nuthouse end with the BLT Queen’s reappearance—is being utilized to make MS seem more tolerable, human and sympathetic….in comparison to that off-the-wall whack-a-doo, Webber, that is. (It certainly won’t do the trick for me…..I just want the insufferable CrayClay gone for good….the sooner the better! And it would be fitting for her “Mommy Dearest” to be the one to accomplish that feat….I do so love Donna Mills as Madeline!)

Things just got interesting! I didn’t see this coming. Personally, I feel the character of Kiki was stuck in the mud since she showed up in Port Charles, and that the role didn’t warrant being recasted. However, I’m open to a new Kiki and, welcome Hayley. I sure hope the writers use Kiki in effective and active ways…and give her a decent storyline of her own.
I wouldn’t be surprised if they put Morgan and Kiki back together. Wondering also if they’re going to keep her as the good, earnest Kiki…or revert her back to her manipulative beginnings….
I still laugh about the fact that Kiki is Star, and Franco is her dad, Todd. They changed their identities in about a week. ….and Nina is Phyllis. ….Too funny.
I totally agree! I will always see Kristen as my beloved Starr from OLTL. The writers of GH clusterf#%@`d her character as well as ToddFranco’s from the beginning. It’s a shame bc I loved their original characters. Although Todd is talented and making that role work, unfortunately, for KA, KiKi’s character didn’t revive.
Now, it is convoluted and it has never set right with me how the same ppl in the same series changed names and dynamics with a little hair dye! Lol! As far as the new KiKi, I’m not feeling the replacement at all! I am sure she is a fine actor, but she is no KA! Get rid of the character, the fork has gone thru the meat, it’s done. Please move on without yet another unnneeded role.
I really hope that Kristen Alderson (ex-Kiki) will have a final scene with Roger Howarth (Franco), in the way where Jonathan Jackson (Lucky), and Tyler Christopher (Nicholas) did when Jonathan last left GH.
Obviously, Kristen has fabulous screen chemistry with Roger, and it would be so nice to see them share a final scene, with a bit of Starr and Todd somehow orchestrated into the scene. That would be a nice touch, and a nice sendoff to the loyal OLTL fans, where Kiki and Franco…could say Todd and Starr in a clever way or, do or say something that fans remember from their father/daughter days on One Life to Live. I hope we see this reunion as Kristen departs in February.
That’s a nice thought, Jeremy. They really do have great chemistry and he was her “father” from the start. Bittersweet…
These “loyal OLTL” fans have gotten MORE than their fair share than many other “loyal” fans of canceled soaps. OLTL fans (I was one of them), got to see a few of their beloved characters live to see another day. Not only that, but they also got a chance to see their show try to make it online. So forgive me if I sound insincere, but I am tired of hearing about the “loyal OLTL” fans. It was ad nauseam back when OLTL and AMC were canceled and then they were put on life support for a little longer.
By my recollection, “loyal OLTL fans” got a whole lot more than the “loyal” fans of:

I am not including PORT CHARLES or ALL MY CHILDREN because they kind of got the same treatment as the “loyal OLTL fans” with their characters and/or show getting another life online, with PORT CHARLES being a spinoff of GENERAL HOSPITAL.
If having some touching farewell scene between Kiki and Franco means that much to you than I suggest you create a Fantasy Soap league or something. Just let Kristen Alderson finish her scenes and then the next day they say “the role of Kiki Jerome is now being played by …” and call it a day.

Definitely, jimh, good call. I don’t know Hayley’s work, as I’ve never watched CBS soaps. With that said, I’m hope she will do something unique to make Kiki or Lauren, more appealing and relatable. First and foremost, the writers have to make that happen. I just remembered when Kristen originated the role, and there was this commercial where she said, “My friends call me Kiki”… maybe her (Hayley Erin) new friends will call her Lauren as you and others hope for, too. “Kiki” will need a job, and if Kate were around she’d insist that she go by Lauren. Maybe this is in the works, where Kiki will mature and want to be taken seriously and use Lauren instead.
Lauren is such a beautiful name…why name a character that and not use it…i might have tolerated the name Kiki had the character been ten years old?
Maybe… the character is growing into her own and, will prefer to be called, Lauren. We shall see when Hayley assumes the role and, the character’s journey continues.
I hate it when soaps, especially GH makes changes in their cast. I realize ppl want to move on with their lives but it takes so long to get use to new faces. Like Jason, I really would love to see Steve Burton return to GH. Don’t like the new one or that anyone knows who he is yet. The plot line is being dragged on too long just like with Luke. I am a dedicated fan and will always keep watching, even though I have to deal with the changes!!! Maurice Bernard, I’m soooo happy you decided to stay, but not sure how they are going to get Sonny out of jail, lol. You’re pretty hot, your wife is a lucky woman!!!
I understand what you are saying, but it shows just about anyone is replaceable. But also, it shows how horrible or insecure the writers/producers are when they have to keep recasting a role.
Look at it another way. The whole entertainment industry are cowards because they keep “rebooting” movies and TV shows. Do we really need another ODD COUPLE? They are too afraid to come up with something new. It is very rare when they do take a chance and come up with something new.
As for TV shows, if you do not cut it within the first maybe TWO episodes, you are canceled. The ratings system needs to change. There needs to be an overhaul on all of it. Thank goodness for good, scripted cable dramas in a world of cheap so-called “reality” shows.
And I can’t agree with you more on Maurice Benard. A phenomenal actor but how are they going to get Sonny out of this one? Must be it was someone wearing a “Sonny” mask or AJ faked his death … again. In any event, I am sure it will be another LAME, recycled plot point that explains it all away.

That is YOUR perception, and you do not speak for everyone. Nor does anyone but the writers know what story they have planned. There are many viewers who like and are interested in the character of Kiki Jerome; just because you aren’t doesn’t negate that. Your rudeness exposes your narrow-minded scope.
I agree Pen. I have always loved the character of Kiki, even the name is cute! I don’t & haven’t ever understood the negativity towards this character! She is so kind & level headed, I love the way she handles Ava & she is sweet with the new baby. She is also related to Julian, Lucas, Sam & Danny & a great daughter to Silas. I hope they will develop her family relationships. I am so glad they are recasting but I will certainly miss Kristen & I hope they keep the name Kiki! Lauren is an old name now, reminds me of Lauren on Y&R.
I enjoyed Alderson as Starr on OLTL. However, Kiki is just a minor character on GH. I think Alderson is a good actress. Anybody who disagrees should watch the OLTL videos from the mid-90’s until OLTL was cancelled.
I loved her as Abby, can’t wait to see her work her magic as KiKi.
Maybe a cast change will allow for a changes in the character, too. I had high hopes for Kiki but it seems she is superfluous in Port Charles. all the dubious parentage and shenanigans by those in their 40s makes any bad girl Kiki seem annoying at best. I guess we shall see!

I have a good feeling that Jamey Giddens will be a new and different Kiki and hopefully the horrible name of Kiki will be dropped and she will be noted by Lauren Katherine Jerome using the name Lauren..
there is much in a name that gives a personality and her being Lauren would greatly help the character, for sure..

I’m not a Kristen Alderson fan but I’m going to defend her here. The character was either working or not working. The problem is in the writing. Recasting the role isn’t the answer.
KA handled her exit with a lot of grace and class. I’ll always think highly of her for that.
Cartini on the other hand look like total jerks.
I feel a little sorry for the actress taking over the role. The character was conceived and poorly written. Only a matter of time before she meets the same fate as Kristen Alderson and other RC creations like Britt, Felix and (coming soon obviously) Sabrina.
I couldn’t stand her on Y&R, she was so whinny and annoying, I MUCH preferred Emme Rylan in the role. And I honestly don’t see the need to recast Kiki. She isn’t a central character, she doesn’t have much in the way of story, and the cast is already bloated enough as it is. I don’t see the purpose for the recast, and quite honestly, I feel like they could have found someone much better to play the role.
I hope a recast means a new direction for the character.
Would definitely have preferred Kelley Missal taking the role, and I think the PR on that move would have been received better, as Missal was another talented OLTL alum who most viewers enjoyed (from what I’ve read). It would also keep the spirit of the casting alive since Kiki was pulled out of the bag to salvage an OLTL actress on our screens.
Whatever. I barely remember Hayley Erin, she seemed rather green on Y&R and I only remember a handful of scenes… hard to believe she lasted 2 years on Y&R. Hopefully she brings some fire. Lots of powerhouses around the GH set. Particularly Maura West.

Emme Rylan is no longer Abby on Y&R, she plays Lulu on GH now. The actress who currently plays Abby is Melissa Ordway. And even if Hayley Erin wasn’t joining GH, there’s no way Y&R would bring her back because they’d have to re-SORAS Abby and make her younger for Erin to play the role again.
will miss Kristen, have watched her grow thru One Life to Live and to GH – the script writing for the character was not as strong as it could, and should, have been…I thought she played the part well transferring from a tough girl to one with feelings…..hopefully, since they are taking the time to re-cast, they take the time to give the character strength in dialog and relationships…Kristen did a great job with poor material….good luck to both actors on their new paths….
This recast is completely worthless. Kiki is NOT needed on this show. She’s been a horribly ill-conceived character that has brought absolutely nothing to the table. A complete waste of skin.
Kiki/Lauren is needed..
She is the daughter of Ava and Silas and entwined with the Corinthos brothers..
With new Kiki we have no idea as to what direction the character will go..
I’m looking forward to what is planned for the new kiki/hopefully Lauren ..
Let me know when you’re in the writers room to make these decisions, and I’ll stop laughing.

The recasting of Kiki is pointless, the cast is totally too heavy. It’s time for “make sense” cuts, not additions. The show could be so much tighter, and for me, I feel that the show…is all over the place.

Well I’m surprised they recast this soon, usually soaps like to give some time to go by before recasting, unless the character is smack dab in front burner story, which at the moment Kiki wasn’t. I honestly thought they will have her leave town with the baby in order to keep the baby safe from Fluke, so I guess this means they must have plans for the character— it is risky recasting so soon, so we will have to wait and see how it works. But like others I wish Kiki would use her real name of Lauren– it is such a pretty name, where Kiki sounds like the name of a tropical drink

I will miss Kristen with a bleeding hear….I really and truly will. When OLTL was so “rudely removed” from my TV screen, it felt so strange ….I know it’s corny, but, It is what it is. I missed everyone from that show.
Then, here were three of those spectacular performes on GH, which was the main reason I started watching.
However, life and characters go on…LOL. So, if there had to be a recast, TPTB could not have made a better choice. I remember Hayley well as Abby Carlton/Newman. She is so beautiful and can act. ….a far cry from the present Abby.
Obviously, Kiki’s story is yet to be told. I am still hoping that she is Nina’s ‘lost’ baby. Also, her story leaves a few doors wide open. …that is; for Silas, Maddie, Ava, and Nina….with a sprinkle of Nathan, Liesl and Lord only knows who else.
I know that many of GH fans do not want to see Nina back. Personally, I cannot wait for her resurgence. As a mentally stable Nina, her life will just get started. Michelle will shine as Nina…..with Franco by her side.

While one certainly can never discount the debauched don as a prospective baby daddy for Grossalie, I’m thinking this low-rent miss may be of Zacchara or Lansing (Trevor, that is….) extraction. She has that New Yawk connection, so those options make sense from a geographical perspective, although there are countless other possibilities to be plucked from Port Charles’ past. A Smith, Barrett or even an Eckart (Fluke)???? But a Cassadine???? I simply cannot fathom such a guttersnipe emanating from any male belonging to that line of aristocracy…save for the most insane and unsavory of members. (Meaning, maybe Stavros forced himself on some unsuspecting tart?…..) Stranger things have happened……
Was always a fan of KA on OLTL but couldn’t warm up to her Kiki on GH. I think it will do KA a world of good to do something not soap related for awhile (at least it seems like that’s the direction she’s going from what I’ve read).
Kiki has had some good history with Michael and Morgan and it would be a shame to jettison that. But she’s got to do more than just be someone’s girlfriend. Hopefully they’ll find a direction to go with her with the recast.

Well not a soap, but it sounds a lot like a few primetime shows: ORANGE IS THE NEW BLACK and PRISON BREAK. Ha! Ha!

There is only one girl who can play Kiki and that’s Kristen Alderson. I think the REAL REASON that Kristen left is that they were going to make some changes to Kiki. Now they’ll probably do stuff to her like hate Franco, becoming a rival to Michael, and lots of more stuff. This wouldn’t happen if they just made Kiki into a good character, instead of changing her. Nothing against the actress, but it would have been better to do a murder mystery of Kiki and do a Who done it storyline. Here are the list of suspects if they went down this route

There’s not one person on that list that would murder a young woman for no reason…with that list even with a reason…except psycho Fluke. If I must find another…Jake…at Helena’s command. But thus far he seems to be able to fight the conditioning to a certain degree…and I see no reason why Helena would even give the order.
Are you kidding me??? “Grossalie” will do practically anything if the price is right….she eagerly and gleefully performed nearly all the nefarious deeds Nina requested and has already practically prostituted herself with Michael….now she’s on Helena’s payroll to do God only knows what….Plus, we still have yet to know what freak show of a family connection she has to Port Charles. She’s probably the illegitimate spawn of some don or arch criminal, so killing could be in her blood. However, you’d think a savvy, sophisticated woman like Mrs. Cassadine would have at least recruited a classier “honeytrap” to dupe the Quartermaine heir. “Unrefined type,” indeed, Queen Helena!!!

Michael: During Kiki and Rosaline’s cat fight, Michael might have to harm Kiki for his new girlfriend.
Fluke: He might do that in revenge for something
Joselyn: remember when Michael accidental shot a woman, maybe Joss might try to kill Franco, only to have Kiki get in the way, and her “claim” that he killed Kiki when he tried to kill her creating a interesting storyline.
Lol…nope. Not a one….crept maybe Fluke. This is all moot anyway since we have a new Kiki. And I don’t think Rosalie is a murderer.
Please, let this character just go away forever. Also, was really enjoying GH until Franco returned this week.

For me it has become “be careful what you wish for” because ever since Roger Howarth was back as “Franco,” I have regretted wanting him on GH. And, as much as I loved Robin Mattson when she interacted with “Todd,” I am so over her lately that it makes me want to cry. I think they have wrung out every drop of her craziness and there is nothing more for her to do to shock me.

Hence, while I can totally picture some inborn-crazed Cassadine cornering a chambermaid and having Grossalie be the result, I still somehow suspect that her origins are more humbly-based in the Bronx…or some other NY borough???? Just a vibe I get from her….I definitely think she sprang forth from the illicit union of an as-yet unnamed smarmy mafioso and smoldering mamacita. The question that remains is just which one…LOL. Having said that, I do agree about Helena…..love or loathe her, she is most fit and fettle for a woman of her maturity…….and icy elegance personified!!! I love her mink-clad couture and diamond-encrusted accoutrements….perfectly fitting for her role as a high-class Cruella DeVille! (CT’s masterful portrayal as this cunning character is such a departure from her usual roles….I first encountered this actress as “Clarissa” on “Capitol,” and there she was a totally different form of female…..a salt-of-the-earth-mother and as good a woman as they come….quite the contrast to this current crone of an arch-villainess!) Having said that, I hope all is well tonight in Southampton….I saw the weather map which indicated you were getting a wickedly windy winter wallop, though perhaps not quite as frightful as first expected….seems Boston and R.I. will be bearing the brunt of this storm. Yes, we were very lucky…the “blizzard” was not as frightful or as intense as expected. We did not lose power, thank God. But, it is very frustrating listening to the same cr@p over and over on TV. Everything is preempted.
I am not sure if you have ever visited NYC, and all its boroughs. But, there has always been a great misconception about the Bronx. There are parts of the Bronx that are very well-kept…such as parts of Pelham Bay and into Westchester……mainly Italian, and Irish heritage, albeit most are ‘migrating’ to Scarsdale and points North. The county gets a bad rap because parts of the South Bronx have ‘gone to pot’.
Manhattan proper is very safe (sadly since 9-11) ….I love the hustle and bustle. My parents have offices on Wall St., so, to me it feels very safe.
As far as Rosalie is concerned, what exactly is her purpose? And, how convenient for La Grande Dame to have such access to her. What is Helena holding over her head? What has Rosalie done? I doubt TPTB know themselves…..they think of “stuff” as they go along.
So, because Rosalie has such easy access to Michael (sexually or otherwise), she is the best candidate to keep an eye on him, per se.
I am continuously taken aback by the ease everyone falls into bed with anyone and everyone. I never pictured Michael with Rosalie. I guess I am too old fashioned, even at my age. It seems that no one has any pudor……namely, one, over-the-hill mama, Alexis. ‘Tis no wonder her daughter follows her lead. …no bashing, people…it is just my opinion. What can I say? CeeCee….Good news indeed that you were spared the worst of the blizzard…I listened to a radio host who hails from “Long Island” and he said that the snowstorm was pretty much par for the course….as in what he grew up with most winters, and not all that out of the ordinary. As long as everyone remained safe is what really counts! I know exactly what you mean about the endlessly imposing special reports….in this day of digital designations and wall-to-wall news networks, it hardly seems necessary to pummel people with the same, monotonous info minute-by-minute, and on every single channel….does that mean you missed Tuesday’s GH??? If so, it wasn’t all that remarkable….more maddening Fluke identity teases being tossed out at a snail’s pace, Helena still swanning about in her fur-clad splendor, confabbing with Fluke and menacing her “Soldier Boy,’ Sonny and Julian continuing to plot and play as “besties,” blah blah blah. This mega-storyline has now officially gone from being completely compelling to just beyond boring! About the only new wrinkle was Silas bringing the adorable Avery to visit her jailbird mama, Ava…rather heart-rending, but I just want them to get to the denouement of who’s Fluke sooner rather than later…..it is past tres tedious to watch this convoluted mess day after day, no matter how bravura a performance AG is providing the audience. Basta basta!!!! (And if it turns out he’s the result of a split-personality/psychological lapse, then I will feel forever cheated….this malicious miscreant must be of real flesh and blood, and apart from the original person of Lucas Lorenzo Spencer!) As for my New York references, yes, I should have singled out “South Bronx”…my bad. Of course, one must keep up to date with all the different boroughs and their developments, since some previously less-regarded areas have become re-gentrified and “hot” again, thanks to the astronomical real estate values. Anyway, what I was getting at, is Grossalie seems to be a hardened, low-rent city gal through and through….to me she simply screams out as an issue of a wiseguy and his wench….I just cannot figure out which one! I even thought of Joe Scully (father or son) as additional possibilities. It would appear that she has scant higher education or social graces, which should she have been born of Cassadine blood, I would think she would have finagled one way or t’other……it doesn’t make a lot of sense that she would have a biological link to the aristocracy, yet no leverage from the secret of keeping it to herself. Instead, she was first working as Nina’s glorified slave and now as Helena’s lackey. I’ve also considered that perhaps Carlos is her father. His age has never been firmly established…but he certainly looks to be in his 40’s! So Grossie could have been the result of his teenaged fling, not unlike Sonny and Olivia’s Dante….and speaking of the currently not-so-dandy don, maybe his ne’er-do-well father, Mike C. the Gambler, is responsible for Ms. Martinez’s existence. He already had one daughter, Courtney—who was Spencer C’s mother—so it is not an unthinkable notion that he’d have another somewhere out there! (Whatever the ultimate answer, I agree with you that “Cartini” often just wing-it and make things up as they go along.) But yes, Michael is sadly in Grossie’s sexual crosshairs right now….I like him, but he has terrible taste in women. I didn’t mind him with Starr, but I never truly bought into his Kiki crushfest…she was far better coupled with her “Captain Morgan.” Me thinks the Quartermaine heir and “Miss Molly” would be a fun and fresh pairing….she’s smart and respectable enough…..even if she is Alexis’s offspring…LOL! Which brings me to the last topic…Ms. Davis, for whom we share a mutual disdain. …it sounds as though you have already availed yourself of my latest “review” of her, and no, I’m not finished by a longshot! Moreover, I concur with your disapproval for everyone constantly hooking up, shacking up and breaking up….so little emphasis on real romance and relevant relationships, plus nary a GH marriage in sight! ( How many are there at the moment: Dante and Lulu, Tracy and Fluke??? Have I missed anyone? Oh yes, Mac and Felicia—big whoop….) I realize that soaps are built upon the bedrock (no pun intended…) of boudoir activities, but not everyone need participate on such a random, revolving and regular basis….it is unseemly, not to mention overdone, and I don’t mind saying so. I wish Kristen Alderson well and agree that she was classy with her tweet. She was great as Starr Manning because she was given the opportunity to grow and develop the character instead of the SORAS manure.
The problem with Kiki, for me, was that either the writing and/or the acting was just too much like Starr Manning. I get annoyed when actors are cast for different roles, but they do the same schtick. I love it when an actor can mesmerize me and I forget I am watching an actor, but a character.
The thing about Kristen’s portrayal of Kiki that I will NEVER forget (because it was so hilarious) was when she jumped into the water to save Michael. She did not jump in like someone who knew what she was doing. She jumped in spread eagle instead of diving in or going feet first (like Roger Howarth did later in that episode).

I am 45 years-old, and my name is Kiki, and I can assure you, I am not a stripper, a call-girl, or a phone sex operator! LOL! I work for a non-profit animal shelter…not in the sex industry I was named for my paternal grandmother who was a breathtakingly beautiful woman born in 1920. She had poor health from early in life, but went to college, married, and raised a family. She was a loving and gentle grandma until her much-too-early death at age 62. I know the focus of this article is on the new Kiki, but I just wanted to add my own perspective about the name! When I think of the name Kiki, I think of myself, of course, but also the lovely, gentle, and compassionate grandma I loved. The stunning woman who still turned heads in her older years. The woman who encouraged my love of nature and animals; who took me to church; who sang me french lullabies; who encouraged my love of reading and learning. She was a gourmet cook; an artist with sewing, embroidery, and knitting; a beautiful singer; devoutly religious; superbly well-read; and extraordinarily compassionate. I can promise you, neither she, nor I, had (or have) any problems being “taken seriously” in life, either because of the name Kiki, or any other reason. Just a thought on the name Kiki. The name doesn’t make the woman who she is. Who a woman is makes the name. P.S. I wish both Kristin Alderson and the “new Kiki” all the best!! I loved Kristin as Kiki, but I felt her talents were wasted in a lack-luster role. I know she says she isn’t, but I can’t help but hope she is the new “Hope Logan” on B & B!
Hayley bears a striking resemblance to Emme Rylan, in my opinion. Kind of wish they’d gone with a brunette. But in any case, she seems like a very capable actress. Will miss Kristin as I’ve watched her grow up, but I wish her luck in future endeavors. She had a great chemistry with Roger; it’ll be interesting to see how Hayley and Roger interact on camera.

53rd Annual Daytime Emmy Nominations Announced: ‘The Young and the Restless’ Tops With 18, ‘Beyond the Gates’ With 16
The National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences (NATAS) today announced the full list of nominees for the upcoming 53rd Annual Daytime Emmy Awards, and it was CBS daytime’s The Young and the Restless and broadcast television newest soap opera, Beyond the Gates that racked up the most nominations with 18 and 16, respectively.
The full reveal on Tuesday follows the announcement of several major categories including Lead Actor and Actress on Monday via Extra and Entertainment Tonight and The View today revealing Daytime Drama Series and more.
The 53rd Annual Daytime Emmys ceremony is set to take place on Friday, October 30 at the historic Hollywood Palladium in Hollywood, California.

In a statement, Adam Sharp, President and CEO of NATAS expressed, “We’re proud to honor the extraordinary talent and creative teams whose work continues to define and elevate daytime television, As the Daytime landscape evolves and new forms of storytelling emerge, we remain committed to recognizing the innovation happening across the industry.”
“Each year, the Daytime Emmy Awards celebrate the creativity, passion, and dedication that drive this vibrant community of storytellers,” said Rachel Schwartz, Head of the Daytime Emmy Awards. “Congratulations to this year’s nominees, whose work continues to entertain, inspire and connect with audiences every day. We look forward to celebrating their remarkable achievements in Hollywood this October.”
The Daytime Emmy Awards have recognized outstanding achievement in television programming and crafts since 1974, honoring work in a variety of genres, including daytime dramas, talk series, entertainment news, culinary, adventure, instructional and legal/courtroom programming.
This year’s Lifetime Achievement Honoree, Gold & Silver Circle Inductees, and ceremony host will be announced at a later date.

‘General Hospital’s’ Steve Burton Shares Reaction to His Lead Actor Daytime Emmy Nomination, ‘It Was to Honor Leslie Charleson’
The 53rd Annual Daytime Emmy Award nominations kicked-off on Monday with the announcements of four major categories including, Outstanding Lead Performer in a Daytime Drama Series — Actor, and among the nominees is General Hospital’s Steve Burton (Jason Morgan).
Burton is already a two-time Daytime Emmy winner in the Supporting Actor category for his roles as GH’s Jason and his turn as Dylan McAvoy on Y&R. However, Steve is yet to win in the Lead Actor category and he has received 11 nominations along the way in his daytime career.
Following the reveal that he is a 2026 Daytime Emmy nominee, he and his GH co-star, podcast co-host and comedy show partner, Bradford Anderson (Spinelli) taped a special edition of their That’s Awesome podcast just featuring Burton’s reaction to the news.

Steve expressed, “I know it’s such a cliche to say, ‘I’m just so honored to be nominated.’ But truly, I’m so grateful to be nominated, so grateful to just be on the show off and on for 30 plus years and to be nominated with the guys in my category. Just to get the opportunity. Frank (Valentini, executive producer, GH) texted me right away. I was just like, ‘Thank you for the opportunity to get to do what I do.'”
Taking in the moment, Burton thanked those who helped him select the material for his nominated reel. “Unless you win, you don’t get to say things. So. I’m going just say a few things: Elizabeth Korte (co-head writer, GH) helped me a lot with the material, (as did) Michelle Henry, who’s a producer on the show, Laura Wright (Carly, GH), and then my wife Michelle (Lundstrom). I believe it was Jill Phelps who told me that when A Martinez felt like he had a great show or great scenes, he would mark it down. So, when Emmy time comes, you have all the show numbers written down, and you don’t have to think about it, because that’s half the battle (finding the material).
Burton explained how meaningful this nomination is for him, because of playing the scenes of Jason losing Monica, and his closeness with the late, great Leslie Charleson.
“The nomination’s an amazing thing, and it’s beautiful, but really it’s to honor Leslie Charleson. A lot of my material was because of her, and how I started on the show as a Quartermaine, it just means a ton,” shared Burton. “Maurice Benard (Sonny, GH) has obviously has been instrumental, and I’ve said it from day one and I’ll shout it from the rooftops. If it wasn’t for him, I wouldn’t be here, and to be working with the people that we work with is incredible.”

SHOULD JOHN OLIVER BE NAMED HOST OF THE DAYTIME EMMYS?
During the end of his conversation with Anderson, Steve suggested that the host of the Daytime Emmy should be Last Week Tonight’s John Oliver, who recently guest starred as the head of the WSB named Z on General Hospital, and is soon to show up on Days of Our Lives in a mystery role in August.
Thus far, the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences has not revealed their host for the upcoming ceremony to be held on October 30 in a venue to be named in Hollywood, California.

GENERAL HOSPITAL: Jason Reconnects with Danny; Tristan Roberts Arrives in Port Charles, Lots of Nods to #16
General Hospital’s 16,000th episode was packed with little reminders through points in today’s script that the ABC daytime drama series has set another milestone and it paved the way for the return of fan favorite and newly nominated Daytime Emmy Lead Actor nominee Steve Burton (Jason Morgan). The 16,000th episode also introduced viewers to the new surgeon in Port Charles Dr. Tristan Roberts played by Dean Geyer.
Here are the key takeaways and what went down on the July 13 episode: Tristan and Jason are seated next to each other on a plane heading to Port Charles. Throughout the flight, a beaten up Jason has flashbacks to being thrown into, and being held captive in a cell and tortured. It appears Jason is suffering from some form of PTSD from what he was put through after being dragged out of Port Charles by the WSB months ago.
As the plane prepares to land, Tristan tells Jason there would be a car waiting for him once they land and to enjoy the rest of his life. Later, Tristan arrives at the nurses and doctors hub at GH and approaches Elizabeth (Rebecca Herbst). He tells her his name and that he is the new surgeon on staff.

A REUNION PLUS A HEAD NURSE DEFENDS SONNY
Meanwhile, at the end of the episode, Jason is outside the Quartermaine boathouse looking bewildered when he runs into Danny (Asher Antonyzyn), who is so thrilled to see his father, and the two hugs each other as tears are shed.
Elsewhere, Elizabeth tells Sonny (Maurice Benard) that he thinks its a great idea for him to get the 16th seat on the hospital board, but when it comes times to convince Tracy Quartermaine (Jane Elliot) of that, things go awry when Tracy, Laura and Sonny try to work things out. After Tracy launches into Sonny about killing Alan and Monica’s son AJ, Sonny walks away dejected.
Next, Sonny runs into Elizabeth, where he informs her what happened with Tracy. So what’s a head nurse to do? Elizabeth marches into the conference room and reminds Tracy of all the different donations and ways Sonny has contributed to the hospital from the Stone Cates AIDS wing, to the Michael Corinthos Center for Pediatric Head Injuries as well as his constant support each year for the GH Nurses’ Ball.

Then, in one of the best parts for longtime fans of the series, Elizabeth talks about her legendary grandparents, Audrey and Steve Hardy and she tells Tracy they would have wanted Sonny to have a seat on the board for all the good that he has done for the hospital. After Elizabeth states Sonny’s case, things took a turn and Tracy and Sonny wound up shaking hands as Sonny is board member #16.
In the how great was it to see Anna (Finola Hughes) and Valentin (James Patrick Stuart) together scenes department, the pick-up of last Friday’s cliffhanger is played out as the two former lovers fill each other in on what has gone down in their lives in the last several months including Valentin admitting he had been living in Carly’s attic, and Anna realizing she was kidnapped by Cullum, Sidwell and Cassius Faison. During their conversation, Anna sees the hallucination of Peter August (Wes Ramsey) right while Valentin is standing there.

Later Anna was on her way to saying goodbye to Valentin, when the two share an emotional hug. After Valentin made his exit, Peter reappeared and warned Anna to not let Valentin distract her because she has important work to do. Anna answers, “I know.”
