Last night at one of the best panels ever held at the Paley Center for Media in Beverly Hills, members of the cast of General Hospital including: Laura Wright, Maurice Benard, Genie Francis, Anthony Geary, Jane Elliot, Jackie Zeman, Finola Hughes, Kimberly McCullough, Jason Thompson, Kirsten Storms and John J. York along with executive producer Frank Valentini and head writer Ron Carlivati were celebrated for the series 50th anniversary.

The GH participants fielded questions from moderator, William Keck of TV Guide, as well as several from fans in attendance. In the closing moments of the panel, Keck had asked Valentini and Carlivati to preview, or give the audience a tease of what is coming up next on General Hospital, now that the 50th anniversary celebration is winding down.  While Valentini revealed he likes to keep everything secret and close to the vest, head scribe  Ron Carlivati left us with this nugget, “There is a new person coming to town that is connected to one of these people up here, and he or she will really shake things up!”

Now, hot on the heels of this, Daytime Confidential this morning is reporting they are hearing rumors that Daytime Emmy winner, Maura West (Ex-Carly ATWT and Diane Y&R) may be headed to General Hospital!  Could that be the person Carlivati is referring to? Or, could it be someone else?

Who do you think is coming to Port Charles and who of the  GH Paley Center For Media panel will they be connected to?  Let us know your thoughts on the latest exciting news from General Hospital!

Why do we need a new person in town? There’s already a number of characters connected to people up there (Bobbie) who have no story.

Bobbie is exiting soon. No offense but she’s kind of difficult to look at. Wish she hadn’t had her face over-done.

tarlyfan — yeah, it’s hard to look at her, I agree.. gawd, what was wrong with her real face? enuff with plastic surgery women.

Bobbi is exiting but shouldn’t. You think it’s difficult to look at her. That’s a pretty shallow statement. She’s a terrific actress. Lets try to say positive comments and judge people on their character and talent not looks.
Love you Jackie zeman. I hope gh changes their mind and keep our Bobbi around.

totally agree

Look at Lucy Coe nothing done to her face and she STILL looks fabulous and yo can recognize her. Anna looks great also! Audry ! Don’t get me wrong I have alway’s liked Jackie Zaman , she is one of my favorites on GH. I think she went a bit to far . I didn’t recognize her at first but when I heard her voice I did.
Look at Joan Rivers face (disaster)! I saw her in person at Nanuet Threater on the round a long time ago! You recognize the voice more than looking at her. If I were to have a face-lift I would still like to look like myself ( a younger vereision ). I still like her !

I totally agree! No more cast member; work with the 40+ you have currently.

Hello.

You really have to ask why women do this nobody says anything about men if they are balding or looking haggard but a woman one line and they start screaming at the top of their voices. Why do you think their are so many teenage girls who commit suicide if they are not perfect. Society did it my sister was born with a birth defect on her face she was made fun of for years now after 3 major surgeries you hardly notice a thing we are a cruel society! I try not to pick on these actresses that do this because of my family member I just wish she would go around telling her story to them so they would stop this.

Could she “possibly” be a recast for Kate/Connie?

you maybe on to something.

what was the last scene for Kate/Connie?

is the no longer with GH?

this wouldn’t surprise me…. it was the writers going overboard… with Connie.

Kate was wonderful…. to watch.

i’m over the “can’t” find any one… for Sonny…

like DAYS… he’s trapped? with that supercouple stat…

for once…. TPTB…. realize how good some newbies are!

I like Kelly Sullivan.

I don’t think so. Kelly Sullivan has shown no signs of leaving the series, and Maura’s already begun taping, and Kelly is still taping.

It’s going to either shake up one of the following: Laura, Scotty, Patrick or Sabrina.

if it’s a middle aged female she’ll no doubt be connected to Sonny some how. With Connie/Kate in rehab and Brenda only around for a short visit, Sonny is really left without a storyline.

Connie/Kate is returning.

whew! I hope so.

this is no longer a Guza’s playground so she most definitely will not be connected to Sonny. Sonny is already having enough on his hands with Kate, Connie, and Olivia.

There is actually no time limit on Brenda’s return yet. Carlivati told TV Guide she is around “at least” until the end of her current arc with Sonny and Carly. But she could still be around after that.

no, I think Brenda will be gone in a few weeks, sometimes in May. Michael and Carly will be involved in storyline with KA and RH. Sonny has to deal with Connie now that she’s back. So there is no room or no one for Brenda to comingle with.

Maura West coming to GH is the best news i’ve heard in a long time. I LOVED her on ATWT as Carly & i even followed her over to Y&R. I hope they treat her alot better than Y&R did & she gets a great storyline.

what a travesty to have watched that bomb…. i was watching Y&R… at the time.

Wow! ATWT, was my all time fav. and it was numbing.. to watch an alumni…. go down in flames as it were.

on the flip side…. Y&R was where I LOVED Genie Francis as Genieveve.

Finally, a good comment about Genie as Genieveve. I loved her on Y&R and think the character was designed to be over-the-top in the beginning and less an acting choice by Genie.

As for Maura on GH bring it on. She is a true professional and deserved so much better than the material Y&R handed her. I sincerely hope that GH delivers a character worthy of Maura’s talents.

I loved ATWT for many a year and miss all those wonderful actors. I would love to see Collen Zenk on a soap again. And I do miss Kathryn Hays’ Kim with those famous “kiddo” and “listen up toots” lines.

Maura West!?!?!? oh how I’ve missed your beautiful face on my TV! please be true!!!

HA–I change my mind………It’s going to impact the Q’s……and she is going to play Lauren, who Spinelli is off to investigate this week.

Lauren is about Molly, Rafe and JT age range. She could be Lauren’s mom

How do we know she isn’t grown up, late teen early 20’s?

@chrissy. Jake was about 4-5. If Franco started earlier than Jason, his kid would still be early teen at the most. Maybe Morgan’s age perhaps. Maura is already in her 40 so theres no way she could portray Lauren. Lauren’s mom, yes, but not Lauren.

If its Maura West I won’t be watching much.

never liked her on ATWT and I don’t care to watch her on GH!

The canvas is becoming more and more overcrowded. Not sure this is good news.

Agreed!

Hope it is Maura. Would love to have her back in Daytime. My favorite all time Actress. Love her!!!!

Omg Maura West pleasee!!!!!!!!!!

Maura West as Nicky ‘!!! Remember !? AJ’s ex who left him for money…A Q heir is indeed on the way…Ellie is Aj kid with Nicky!!!!!

I like your guess the best…a lot of story possibilities here. Nicky could use Ellie, the missing ELQ shareholder, to get a good chunk of money out of Tracy, or maybe after Nicky poisons Ellies mind against A.J., A.J. will be forced to pretend he loves Nicky, ending his relationship with Liz who’ll turn to Nikolaus, in order to persuade Ellie to change her mind about him and give him her ELQ shares!

If Maura is coming in to portray Niki Langton she would be avery good casting, because she looks very much like Camille Cooper who played Nikki Langton. When AJ found her in LA she didn’t look pregnant and if I remember correctly he didn’t find her for months after she left him before their wedding… but again this is the soaps… one minute you don’t look pregnant and the next you do… or it’s someone else’s baby. I do agree that Ellie is a Q heir.

GREAT idea! And would give AJ more leverage in the ELQ battle.

I think RC is referring to the landview trio. ME’s Morley relates to no one on the panel. KA’s Serena Balwin is not related to anyone on the panel neither. so I assume it must be RoHo that he’s referring to. Hope RoHo will be a Quartermaine.

talking about ONLY one person not Three
“There is a new person coming to town that is connected to one of these people up here, and he or she will really shake things up!”

Don’t bother all this chick sees is the EX OLTL actors!

How about bringing Robert & Holly back instead?

YES!!!! I’ve been saying that I don’t know HOW they can have the 50th anniversary without Robert and Holly!!

Just taking a guess here… But I predict that she will be the “missing Q” that Tracy & AJ have been searching for.

My thoughts EXACTLY!

Instead of bring new characters and keeping people who have no story (except for Jackie Zeaman aka. Bobby Spencer, I LOVE her!), please, please bring back Steve Burton…offer him the moon if you have to, please, I love the show but without him it just isn’t working.

kinda hard to bring back an actor that doesn’t want to come back.

Pfffft. Stevie boy is gone. SBu is happy working at Y&R.

I miss Steve Burton more than I have ever missed another character on a soap. I can see how it must get stale playing the same person for so many years, but I don’t like his character on Young and Restless.

Let me see if I grasp this. You liked Jason…a brain damaged, violent unrepentant thug and mafia murderer…but you don‘t like a nice, upstanding nice guy who was also a war hero. Hmmm…weird. That is why I am SO glad that Sonny is basically an afterthought now and there has been no mob stories for MONTHS!!

Steve Burton is still playing the SAME character on Y&R. No emotions, blank behind the eyes, monitone, how is Dylan different from Jason?

Ugh. NO!

I have been more of a faithful watcher of Y&R now I can hardly stomach it so much about SB he is not a good actor GH does not need him and I am hoping he is off the canvas here at Y&R he was not needed.

Steve can come back but only as a Quartermaine. We have had enough of the mob for the last decade plus,,, so please keep the mob storyline afar for the next decades to come. Sonny is all we can take for now.

Not working since he left? Maybe not for you, but the ratings have increased spectacularly SINCE he left and the focus on the mob was dropped. What does that tell you? After a full decade of that dark nonsense, the vast majority of the audience NO LONGER cares about Steve Burton and the mob.

If it is NOT working, by the way, why are you so happy Jackie Z came back? If this were still the Sonny and Jason show she NEVER WOULD have been brought back. Remember, it was the last regime — the one that DEIFIED Steve Burton — that fired Jackie, Stuart Damon, Rachel Ames; killed off AJ, Alan, Georgie, Tony, Emily… That, in short, destroyed the real GH for that cartoon version of the Sopranos starring your beloved Steve Burton, surely the most overrated “actor” playing the most noxious, destructive character in the HISTORY of GH.

Now that Maurice Benard has storylines moving him away from the mob, and which remind us of his sensitivity and versatility as an actor, I am truly enjoying Sonny again.

So, guess what? ABC will NOT offer SB “the moon” to return, since the ratings have increased since he left. He is not needed and, for most of us, not wanted! His departure, not too coincidently, is concurrent with the ratings resurgence of GH. It is also no coincidence that JOY and LOVE have returned to the show, now that SB’s character and his sick violent storylines are GONE!!! I think there is a lesson there not lost on the powers-that-be. The “moon” will never be offered to SB, and GH is the better for it.

Perhaps I was unclear. I just want Jason and Sam back, not the mob because you are right it is better without it! I want them to move Sam forward but NOT with the mcbain character, I didn’t like him. Now maybe she can get close to someone else or perhaps he can come back as Jason Q… Not sure… Just really liked that couple, but no I like the new guys running the show! I also like that we got to keep our GH!

Jackie, I can agree with you about SB as Jason QUARTERMAINE. In that character SB’s return WOULD be an asset to the show. Just hated the mob and the one-note moron that Jason Morgan was. However, think of the fun we could have as viewers if he returned as a Quartermaine! That would really shake up the Q’s storylines, and the show’s entire canvas (imagine Sonny seeing Jason as a Q, and not as a hitman!). Under THAT circumstance — he returns permanently as a Q, not as a mobster — I would indeed welcome SB’s return. If that were the deal, they could offer him a half-moon to return and I wouldn’t complain.

West, what do we need her for?

I think it is JOHN STAMOS

BUT West? Come on……

Maura west loved her on as the world turns. yes yes bring her to gh now. keep jackie zeman. get rid of scotty sonny britt her bitchy whiny mother and carly. fire laura wright. bring back the first carly sarah brown.

Love Laura Wright!

Same here!

no. I love Laura Wright. She’s the best Carly ever!

Absolutely no way you can get rid of LW …she is best Carly they have had in my opinion!

Thanks Michael!!! Hope you got some pics or interviews Michael!!!

The Paley Live show was phenomenal and the cast and FV and RC were so much fun and had some great stories! I was hoping we might have broke some live streaming records or came close. Still hoping they will put the show up on the Paley site for re-viewing and ultimately Hulu.

I think Ron was referring to Tracy as the panel person affected and the person coming is a Quartermaine or has a Quartermaine heir. Ron also said that he plans on filling the Quartermaine mansion with great characters!

Loved the Paley show… thanks to the Paley Center and William Keck and the GH cast and FV and Rc for giving us a lovely event!!! GH is the best and I am choosing to believe that GH will have many more fabulous years to come!!!

Thanks so much Michael!!! Wish I could have been there!

Not about the Paley event… sometime…could you get a video interview with Brooklyn Rae Silzer and possibly Jason or Anna or Teresa together and ask her about shooting the past few weeks? She just looked like she was having the time of her life working with everyone and dancing and performing! When you asked Teresa and Jason about it on the call in show last week it was fun to get their perspective it would be fun to get Brooklyn’s with them.

Haha!!! Actually 3 new people……..Roger, Michael & Kris!!! So sorry “Starr” missed the Nurses Ball….would’ve loved to hear her sing again!!!! I would like OLTL to be 1/2 hr on ABC & link GH with OLTL. Best of both worlds with the characters of Llanview & Port Charles intermingling!!

GH is already bloated with its current cast.

Loved the Paley panel! I could have watched another hour! I think the moderator did a fantastic job and was clearly a fan. A couple of observations:

1. I agree that Jackie Zeman overdid the plastic surgery but she’s not the only one and Hollywood is to blame. Imagine being an actress of a certain age and the pressure it must be to you. Such a double standard. Robert S. Woods of OLTL had plastic surgery on his face and while it wasn’t too overdone it was so noticeable and he hardly got the backlash Jackie has been getting. I don’t care…I love having her and Bobbie back!

2. These comments regarding GH being overcrowded are to me, kinda silly. I feel most of you who are complaining are used to the show revolving around just Carly, Sonny & Jason. Everybody else just existed to prop those 3 up. In these days of slashed budgets, it’s quite refreshing to watch how FV & RC manage to use the whole canvas. I love GH…not one character or couple.

3. Speaking of FV, can he be any hotter?

4. Love how John Beradino’s widow and daughter were in the audience. Anthony Geary’s story of how John didn’t get jealous over Luke basically taking over the show was touching. I must say, hearing John’s voice and seeing his portrait on the anniversary show had me in tears.

5. I can’t believe how far GH has come since the decade of decimation that Phelps and Guza had produced. Have you noticed that it seems FV and RC seem to be slowly trying to UNDO most of that damage. I totally gave up on GH after Jake was run down by Luke! Sure, it gave Geary another Emmy but who wants to rush home from work to watch THAT?. It feels so good to watch GH again and feel the same excitement I used to have. The cast seems energized again and I couldn’t be happier!!!!

Nice to see someone talk about the Paley event!!! I too could have loved a longer show! It was great having the Bernadino’s there and the stories from the cast and RC were great! So glad Michael will have video interviews from the event. Would love to have been able to attend in person!

I agree 100% (especially with #2). GH is better now than it ever was under Guza, Frons and Phelps. BTW, I’m also looking forward to Maura West’s arrival. Loved her on ATWT.

Though, I would rather Beth Chamberlin come to GH or even Kelley Menighan Hensley, I suppose I will keep an open-mind and watch another over the top actress invade my show!

Maura is far from over-the-top.

KM Hensley that and MW would be a dvr and FF for me. Couldn’t stand how they ate ATWTs and then the show got cancelled. with RH. he never could be Paul for me.
GH has loads of characters now, we need Tristan Rogers back. We need stories for the characters already there. FRankenRon better think. They are doing a great job, but we need continuity. No threats just the truth. I watched AWTs for 35 years and boom they ruined it. they allowed the characters you mentioned to eat the show ,so I just shut it off .

I love that Jackie Zeman is back as Bobbie, but I have to agree that she really did a number on her face! He face looks like it’s made of wax and she can’t even move it. I don’t know why celebrities can’t just get “a little bit” done, without going overboard.

And bobby please don’t blow air through those lips like you did while talking to Carly. SCARY

I agree with you Margo! I still like her anyway!

The show has been epic lately and I have no doubt that whatever is to come will be equally as fabulous! Love GH! Thanks to the cast, crew, writers and producers for keeping viewers on the edge of our seats!

I’m super excited at the idea of Maura returning to Daytime. I remember when she was rumoured to be Faith Rosco before being announced as Diane Jenkins on Y&R. My only hope is that her role is strong and confident, and that it gives her depth to work with as a fantastic actress.

Maybe Maura West could have a connection to Sam’s dad- his sister/new wife/a friend of Alexis who knows the identity of Sam’s dad. Really handy if she’s a legit psychologist(like Lainey).

Maybe Trevor ST. John is joining GH as VICTOR…….Cassidine!!! /kidding…lmao!!!

good one, but oh god can you imagine the oltl fans loosing it, that would be so worth it.

I hope it is true that Maura is joining the show. I know GH will gain a new viewer in me if that is the case! If so I hope the writing integrates her well in the cast much better than the disaster on Y&R. . Hopefully there is a real purpose for her character and it isn’t just a waqr between ABC and CBS in casting.

I bet the new person their talking about his Maura West. While I like Maura, why does GH need more actors. The show is really starting to get overcrowded. I think GH needs to do some cast cutting. It feels bloated to me.

The LAST thing GH needs is another NEW character!!! UMMMMM they just says at the Paley Festival that the cast is all ready so big!! when I’m seeing Carly maybe once a week there’s a problem lol
GH use the cast from present & past that’s all ready there and WE LOVE!!

Well, ME, RH and KA are all coming back in new roles so it may not be linked to Maura West at all. I don’t care how Jackie Zeman looks like, I want Bobbie on my screen!

I hope the writers realize what a great love story they could have with AJ and Elizabeth. TEAM QUIZ!!!

agree…hope they develop that!

Woohoo! I love Maura West!

I am sure GH will eventually whittle down its cast as limited contracts end and the anniversary is in our rear view mirrors. Still, we can have our favorites if the series takes on its shoert-term stories where actors/ characters are featured for 13 weeks then faded until their time comes up again.

I would like Jackie Zeman kept on the canvass. I like the idea of building famlies and recalling histories but now we need to move forward some in stories. GH is a stellar soap these days. Far better than the others on the air. B&B seems in a rut. Y&R seems tired though it has its moments. DAYS is pretty good but it’s not at GH’s level. I am eacger for AMC and OLTL to return. I follow all and try to watch as much as possible, even B&B (but that is difficult).

I think Maura West may be a woman that A.J. was involved with during his years in Europe or she could be the mother of the alleged Quartermaine heiress Lauren Frank.

This new char really should be a racial minority. There are still very little African american representation. There are still no Asian american chars. gh is one of the oldest tv shows from hollywood. gh should be criticized for still not having a core family that is African american and Asian american chars. It’s logical to have Asian american chars who are doctors based on the ny setting and the hospital background of this soap. This new char should be Asian american bec gh looks ridiculously backwards w/o more racial diversity.

I don’t think GH looks ridiculously backwards but I do agree that all daytime shows should have more diversity. I think it works best when all characters are treated as personalities rather than their ethnic background and GH does this well. Very little has been said about the ethnic backgrounds of any characters, they just are who they are regardless of color. For example, Britt could have been an Asian woman and the plot could have played out exactly the same.

BC REALLY NO ONE ON THIS TOPIC OR ANY OTHER TOPIC FOR THAT MATTER WANTS TO HEAR YOUR “RACISM IN HOLLYWOOD” STUFF AGAIN REALLY!!

I’d be thrilled to see Maura West do anything on GH– just walking by the camera and waving would have me tuning in. Could turn out to be a short-term role.

Re: the Llanview three– remember that Valentini (I think) said that per the PP agreement, the new roles played by these actors could in no way resemble their OLTL roles. They will be as different as possible. That’s what maks me doubt the rumors that Howarth will play Alex Castle/Cassadine– a rich troubled man with questions about his paternity. Too similar to _____________ (don’t want PP coming after me for trademark infringement!) ; )

Rumor is Peter Reckell from Days is will or has started taping as Valentin Cassadine

As long as Maura West plays a psycho-bitch-on-wheels the way she did when she BEGAN “As the World Turns” in 1995, we’re good.

Neutered down, good girl Maura West is bland and boring.

May 10 Alderson,Howarth,Easton will be back on GH! Read it on soap centeral yesterday! Abc confirmed it for 5/10….Whispers that Alderson might play the role of
Serena Baldwin….Easton agreed to 4 wks.,Alderson 1 wk.,Howarth agreed to several weeks. All agree for a limited time to help get OLTL kicked off. We all know they will be playing different roles. Again, I read this on Soap Centeral and the article was dated 4/11..

Well if anyone reads that article on Soap Central like Susan M pointed out to us ((Thanks Susan))……It sure seems like ABC has done a lot of lying…..First it was that they did not want to go back and now they do and will for a few weeks??? First it was that all 3 were put on long term contracts, then it was that RH was on a one year contract, Now again it is that ALL 3 were put on LONG TERM Contracts, What’s the truth? ……The whispers about KA playing Serena Baldwin was from the Fans NOT ABC or GH……I have never found Soapcentral to be a reliable source. This article was done on the 11th it’s the 15th, I think if the things Dan Kroll put down was proven true it would have been on all sites, Including this one, Mr Fairman is very good at keeping us up to date on info! JMO

Well another rumor was that Chrishell Stause ex Amanda from AMC 1.0 was up for the role of Serena Baldwin

i think your show is awesome and hope your not planning on cancelling it please and thank you please email me back

‘General Hospital’s’ Steve Burton Shares Reaction to His Lead Actor Daytime Emmy Nomination, ‘It Was to Honor Leslie Charleson’

The 53rd Annual Daytime Emmy Award nominations kicked-off on Monday with the announcements of four major categories including, Outstanding Lead Performer in a Daytime Drama Series — Actor, and among the nominees is General Hospital’s Steve Burton (Jason Morgan).

Burton is already a two-time Daytime Emmy winner in the Supporting Actor category for his roles as GH’s Jason and his turn as Dylan McAvoy on Y&R. However, Steve is yet to win in the Lead Actor category and he has received 11 nominations along the way in his daytime career.

Following the reveal that he is a 2026 Daytime Emmy nominee, he and his GH co-star, podcast co-host and comedy show partner, Bradford Anderson (Spinelli) taped a special edition of their That’s Awesome podcast just featuring Burton’s reaction to the news.

FOR LESLIE CHARLESON

Steve expressed, “I know it’s such a cliche to say, ‘I’m just so honored to be nominated.’ But truly, I’m so grateful to be nominated, so grateful to just be on the show off and on for 30 plus years and to be nominated with the guys in my category. Just to get the opportunity. Frank (Valentini, executive producer, GH) texted me right away. I was just like, ‘Thank you for the opportunity to get to do what I do.'”

Taking in the moment, Burton thanked those who helped him select the material for his nominated reel. “Unless you win, you don’t get to say things. So. I’m going just say a few things: Elizabeth Korte (co-head writer, GH) helped me a lot with the material, (as did) Michelle Henry, who’s a producer on the show, Laura Wright (Carly, GH), and then my wife Michelle (Lundstrom). I believe it was Jill Phelps who told me that when A Martinez felt like he had a great show or great scenes, he would mark it down. So, when Emmy time comes, you have all the show numbers written down, and you don’t have to think about it, because that’s half the battle (finding the material).

Burton explained how meaningful this nomination is for him, because of playing the scenes of Jason losing Monica, and his closeness with the late, great Leslie Charleson.

“The nomination’s an amazing thing, and it’s beautiful, but really it’s to honor Leslie Charleson. A lot of my material was because of her, and how I started on the show as a Quartermaine, it just means a ton,” shared Burton. “Maurice Benard (Sonny, GH) has obviously has been instrumental, and I’ve said it from day one and I’ll shout it from the rooftops. If it wasn’t for him, I wouldn’t be here, and to be working with the people that we work with is incredible.”

SHOULD JOHN OLIVER BE NAMED HOST OF THE DAYTIME EMMYS?

During the end of his conversation with Anderson, Steve suggested that the host of the Daytime Emmy should be Last Week Tonight’s John Oliver, who recently guest starred as the head of the WSB named Z on General Hospital, and is soon to show up on Days of Our Lives in a mystery role in August.

Thus far, the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences has not revealed their host for the upcoming ceremony to be held on October 30 in a venue to be named in Hollywood, California.

You can watch Steve sharing his reaction to receiving his 2026 Lead Actor Daytime Emmy nomination below on a special segment on the That’s Awesome podcast.

Now let us know, are you glad that Steve chose scenes surrounding Jason mourning the loss of the woman that raised him, Monica Quartermaine for his Emmy reel? What do you think of John Oliver as a suggestion to host the Daytime Emmys? Weigh-in via the comment section below.

General Hospital’s 16,000th episode was packed with little reminders through points in today’s script that the ABC daytime drama series has set another milestone and it paved the way for the return of fan favorite and newly nominated Daytime Emmy Lead Actor nominee Steve Burton (Jason Morgan). The 16,000th episode also introduced viewers to the new surgeon in Port Charles Dr. Tristan Roberts played by Dean Geyer.

Here are the key takeaways and what went down on the July 13 episode: Tristan and Jason are seated next to each other on a plane heading to Port Charles. Throughout the flight, a beaten up Jason has flashbacks to being thrown into, and being held captive in a cell and tortured. It appears Jason is suffering from some form of PTSD from what he was put through after being dragged out of Port Charles by the WSB months ago.

As the plane prepares to land, Tristan tells Jason there would be a car waiting for him once they land and to enjoy the rest of his life. Later, Tristan arrives at the nurses and doctors hub at GH and approaches Elizabeth (Rebecca Herbst). He tells her his name and that he is the new surgeon on staff.

A REUNION PLUS A HEAD NURSE DEFENDS SONNY

Meanwhile, at the end of the episode, Jason is outside the Quartermaine boathouse looking bewildered when he runs into Danny (Asher Antonyzyn), who is so thrilled to see his father, and the two hugs each other as tears are shed.

Elsewhere, Elizabeth tells Sonny (Maurice Benard) that he thinks its a great idea for him to get the 16th seat on the hospital board, but when it comes times to convince Tracy Quartermaine (Jane Elliot) of that, things go awry when Tracy, Laura and Sonny try to work things out. After Tracy launches into Sonny about killing Alan and Monica’s son AJ, Sonny walks away dejected.

Next, Sonny runs into Elizabeth, where he informs her what happened with Tracy. So what’s a head nurse to do? Elizabeth marches into the conference room and reminds Tracy of all the different donations and ways Sonny has contributed to the hospital from the Stone Cates AIDS wing, to the Michael Corinthos Center for Pediatric Head Injuries as well as his constant support each year for the GH Nurses’ Ball.

WSB WAR SCARS

Then, in one of the best parts for longtime fans of the series, Elizabeth talks about her legendary grandparents, Audrey and Steve Hardy and she tells Tracy they would have wanted Sonny to have a seat on the board for all the good that he has done for the hospital. After Elizabeth states Sonny’s case, things took a turn and Tracy and Sonny wound up shaking hands as Sonny is board member #16.

In the how great was it to see Anna (Finola Hughes) and Valentin (James Patrick Stuart) together scenes department, the pick-up of last Friday’s cliffhanger is played out as the two former lovers fill each other in on what has gone down in their lives in the last several months including Valentin admitting he had been living in Carly’s attic, and Anna realizing she was kidnapped by Cullum, Sidwell and Cassius Faison. During their conversation, Anna sees the hallucination of Peter August (Wes Ramsey) right while Valentin is standing there.

Later Anna was on her way to saying goodbye to Valentin, when the two share an emotional hug. After Valentin made his exit, Peter reappeared and warned Anna to not let Valentin distract her because she has important work to do. Anna answers, “I know.”

So, what did you think of General Hospital’s 16,000 episode? What do you think is wrong with Jason? What is the important “work” that Anna has to do? Were you glad to see Sonny get a seat on the hospital board, or not so much. Weigh-in via the comment section. But first, check out the scenes on Jason and Tristan’s long flight to Port Charles.
