GENERAL HOSPITAL: Kim Tells Drew The Devastating Truth About Oscar

We love seeing one of the finest actresses in the genre, Tamara Braun (Kim) getting an opportunity to have an emotional storyline and to become more front and center stage.  On Wednesday’s episode of ABC’s General Hospital, after Oscar (Garren Stitt) suffered from seizures and was taken to the hospital, an overwrought Kim is asked by Elizabeth (Rebecca Herbst) what is wrong with Oscar?  Kim tells her he has a kind of cancer, but does not say what kind. and is clearly not ready to talk about it yet.

Oscar’s dad, Drew (Billy Miller) arrives at GH.  When he finds his son, Oscar tells Drew that it was just low blood sugar that caused him to land in the hospital, but Drew looks disbelieving.   Josslyn (Eden McCoy) who has been waiting in the park for Oscar on their 1-year anniversary of dating, but spent time with Cameron (William Lipton) instead (who tried to kiss her), gets a call from Drew’s phone.  Oscar informs her he is the hospital but is OK.  When Josslyn arrives he shares a photo album he has kept of their time together over the past year, and we hear as an emotional back-drop Josslyn’s performance at the Nurses Ball, “I Never Knew”.

Elizabeth tries one more time to talk to Kim, and to tell her she must level with Drew about his son’s condition. Kim informs Liz; she does not want it to color the time Drew and Oscar will have left together.

When Drew confronts Kim, she tells him this has happened with Oscar before.  After demanding answers, Kim finally opens up and breaks down and admits that their son has an inoperable brain tumor, and nothing can be done for him.  She has been dealing with this for the last two years, and has consulted with doctors and no one knows just how long Oscar will live.  Drew gets more shocking news; Kim has never let on to Oscar that he is dying.  She wants him to get up and look forward to the next day for whatever remaining time he has left.  Drew is in tears, as the two parents share a hug.   Touching work by Billy Miller and Braun, as well throughout from Garren Stitt.

Kristina (Lexi Ainsworth) is back in Port Charles, explaining to her parents that things went south with Parker, and that she needed her own life. She says that the two of them have broken up and she is home to stay and moving in with Sam (Kelly Monaco)!

Thanks to Chase (Josh Swickard), Anna (Finola Hughes) is reunited with her son, Peter (Wes Ramsey)   Chase warned Peter not to hurt Anna, or he would be arrested.  Finn (Michael Easton) is worried Anna will be heartbroken.  He also thanks Chase for all je has done and the brothers bond, while Chase also gives an update that Cassandra (Jessica Tuck) is nowhere to be found.

Anna has now come to see Peter to tell him that she is his mother, and if there is anything he needs to please come to her.  Peter is still taking a hard-line when it comes to Anna; not letting his guard down, but keeping his distance and his anger towards her for abandoning him as a child,

So, what did you think of Oscar’s diagnosis that he has an inoperable brain tumor? What did you think of today’s performance by Braun, Miller and Hughes? What do you think will happen next in the story?  Comment below.

GENERAL HOSPITAL: Trading Places With Kevin and Ryan; Oscar Has a Seizure

On Tuesday’s episode of General Hospital, viewers learned the identity of which twin was in a straight-jacket at Ferncliff, and which was out and about in Port Charles,  But is there yet a twist on a twist on this coming?

Through flashbacks from Felicia (Kristina Wagner) recounting how she was terrorized by Ryan (Jon Lindstrom) years ago, and then the showdown scene between Ryan and Kevin (Jon Lindstrom), which led to Ryan’s “demise”, the stage was set to move this present day storyline of the twin brothers along.

We cut to everyone’s worse nightmare mental health facility, Ferncliff, where the patient in the straight-jacket claims to nice-guy orderly, Gordon, that he is the real Kevin Collins and his brother Ryan switched places with him, which is what most viewers who have been watching the story unfold would tend to believe has happened.  He wants Gordon to help him by loosening his straight-jacket. Gordon says he will alert those in charge and exits.

Later, the psychiatrist twin arrives and has some choice words for his brother for stirring things up.  The patient spouts: “Nice to see you too, Kevin.”  Kevin says he knows Ryan has been claiming to be him … yet again!  Kevin reminds Ryan that when he found out he was alive he brought him to Ferncliff to treat him and rehabilitate him, rather than turn him over to the police for a lifetime jail sentence.  Ryan, who has major homicidal tendencies tells his brother he can’t be cured and rather likes who he is.  Kevin won’t give up and wants to help him.  Ryan mentions Felicia.  Next thing you know, Kevin’s cell phone rings and he turns his back for a second, and Ryan is able to get out of the straight jacket and attacks his brother.

Elsewhere, Jason (Steve Burton) is getting ready to take Oscar (Garren Stitt) on his motrocycle to meet up with Josslyn (Eden McCoy) after their talk about the teen’s relationship with Carly’s (Laura Wright) daughter.  When Jason tells Oscar let’s get a move on, Oscar suddenly goes into an all-out seizure!

GH will be airing a series of encore episodes for the next several days with the pick-up  of new episodes after Labor Day.

So, what do you think is going on between Ryan and Kevin?  What will be the next twist in the storyline?   And … what is happening to Oscar? Share your theories via the comment section below.

Sara Gilbert Stands By ABC’s Decision To Cancel ‘Roseanne’ But Shares: “This Show Has Always Been About Diversity, Love and Inclusion. It’s Sad To See It End This Way”

During Monday’s episode of CBS’ Daytime’s The Talk, co-host Sara Gilbert had the opportunity to address those at home, and in the audience on her thoughts on the firestorm that ensued last week when her primetime series, Roseanne was swiftly cancelled by ABC.

All of this came about following its star, Roseanne Barr’s racist and offensive tweet.  The tweet about former Obama advisor, Valerie Jarrett caused ABC executive, Channing Dungey to ax Roseanne from the network’s line-up effective immediately.

Gilbert, who was a major force in bringing the Roseanne reboot back to ABC, had shared her sentiments on Twitter last week, but on her daytime series today she offered this up: “In addition to my statement, I would like to say this has been a very difficult week. A lot of people have been hurt by this. I will say I’m proud of the show we made. This show has always been about diversity, love and inclusion. And it’s sad to see it end in this way. I’m sad for the people who lost their jobs in the process. However, I do stand behind the decision ABC made.”

Sara’s other co-hosts chimed in.  Sheryl Underwood added, “As a black woman who is a comedienne… I’m happy to see that it was done swiftly.’  Julie Chen adds, “Canceling the show so quickly sent a strong message and the right message.”

Watch Sara’s statement on the Roseanne cancellation below.  Then let us know, what did you think of Sara standing by ABC’s decision and reflecting the loss of jobs and the way that the show stood for inclusion and diversity had to end this way? Comment below.
