The entertainment world was rocked on Saturday afternoon, October 28th, with the news of the passing of beloved Friends star, Matthew Perry. The talented actor was 54-years-old.

According to TMZ who broke the stars death, Matthew was found unresponsive in his jacuzzi after playing 2 hours of pickleball at the Rivera County Club near his home in Pacific Palisades.  Following the game, Perry had his assistance pick-up a new iPhone and prescription glasses for him.  When she returned to his home, she found Perry unresponsive. Earlier reports shared that law enforcement sources said it had appeared Perry had drowned, but that is now unconfirmed.

Perry was mega-famous for his role as Chandler Bing on the 90s sitcom, Friends. Over the years, Matthew was very open about his alcohol and substance abuse battle.  No illicit prescription drugs were found on the scene of his death.  However, law enforcement reported they found anti-depressants, anti-anxiety drugs and a COPD (Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease) drug in the house. A toxicology report will eventually determine if any drugs were in Perry’s system at the time of his passing, but that will take several months to finalize.

Given his history of organ damage caused by long term opiate use, I’m guessing that 2 hours of pickleball, followed by a hot tub might have been too much for a heart already weakened (for a 54 year old mortal) by the past drug problems.

I’m a Devil, not a doctor, but I do remember hearing that mortals with heart conditions are advised to be careful with extreme heat situations like hot tubs & saunas.

This has been such a shock and so young. He was my favourite male character on Friends. So sad.

This is very sad.
