When the nominations were revealed for the 49th Annual Daytime Emmy Awards, General Hospital mainstay, Nancy Lee Grahn (Alexis Davis), was recognized for her stunning work in the Alexis-centric standalone episode which honored her 25th anniversary with the ABC daytime drama series.
Grahn, is already a two-time Daytime Emmy winner. She won back in 1989 in a tie for Outstanding Supporting Actress for her work as Julia Wainwright on Santa Barbara along with All My Children’s Debbi Morgan, and again received the honors in that category in 2012 for her work on General Hospital.
Now. she is vying for the gold in 2022 in the Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series category against other formidable actresses including: B&B’s Kimberlin Brown, DAYS Stacy Haiduk, Y&R’s Melissa Ordway, and her GH castmate, Kelly Thiebaud.
Michael Fairman TV caught up with Nancy to talk about her decision to enter the Emmy race this year, her powerful and moving scenes, why this nomination is significant and important to her, and her take on some very important social issues of our time.
Always candid, insightful, combined with great humor and wit, here’s what Nancy had to share below, and make sure to check out GH this week when sparks fly between Alexis and Gregory (Gregory Harrison). Will he turn out to be the new beau in Alexis’ life? Stay tuned.

Congratulations on the Emmy nomination. How do you feel about being in the running again, especially with the material from your 25th anniversary episode?
NANCY: You know, I don’t submit myself if I don’t think I have something, and I didn’t last year. This year, I had the one show, and the first reason I submitted myself was I had the episode that was worthy of the competition. These judges have to sit, and watch this stuff, and very often, it’s hard to watch soap opera scenes. It really is, unless you’re in it. It’s a different kind of material that most primetime people aren’t used to watching. So, it’s tricky business. I don’t want to put them through anything too awful. I don’t want to torture them and I’ve judged before. It can be a bit tedious. So, for me to submit myself, I thought, it has to be something that isn’t going to torture another human being. The second thing is, older women get marginalized the older they get, and they get diminished very often, and every time we get nominated, it means something different to me. This time, to me, I want it to somehow be symbolic, or a shoutout to women who are still producing, who have been doing their job for a long time and are still doing it good enough, and that it’s still worthy of respect and recognition.
When we were at the GH Convention back in March, I played the scene on-stage for the fans in attendance of when Alexis goes over to the corner of Kevin’s office and heals her younger self. You saw the reaction just from the fans. It’s such a beautiful moment within the story. What did you think about how the standalone episode was crafted?
NANCY: It was a different experience for me because GH co-head writers Chris Van Etten and Dan O’Connor, and script writer, Scott Sickles gave it the attention, but even more to that, they allowed me to participate in the creation of it. They allowed the director, Phideaux Xavier, to participate. We all sat in a room. They said, “You know what? Make it how you’re comfortable with it.” There were so many people who gave it time and effort, and Phideaux gets a lot of credit because he came up with a lot of ideas. So, the little girl in the therapy room wasn’t initially a part of it. That was Phideaux’s idea, and they let us alter things, and they allowed me to write some words that meant something to me with the character. Our producers, Michelle Henry and M.K Weir, who I both adore, were also a part of this.

That is great to hear that you were involved in the collaborative process of the creation of the episode.
NANCY: We read through the whole script, and we worked it like you would on primetime. We went through it like, “Does this moment work? Does that moment work? Does this make sense? Does that make sense?” We never do that in soaps. We don’t get to that. So, it was a gift to me. It really was. Chris and Dan, and Scott and Phideaux, and the two producers, generosity in gifting me that experience and making sure that it was to everybody’s liking, was really very special to me, and it meant a lot.
Did you come up with the key lines which summarized Alexis as a person and her journey: “I’m Alexis Davis, and I’m a fighter, and an idealist and an advocate?”
NANCY: No. They designed it, but we were allowed to enhance and contribute creatively to it, and, we don’t normally have the time to do that. They don’t have the time to – and you can’t allow people to do that with every episode, to be creatively participating, because it would turn into madness with everybody.
Then, when it came down to choosing the scenes from your anniversary episode to include for your Emmy submission, was that a challenging process of which moments to go with?
NANCY: I just told a little story with it with the time that I had, and so, I edited it with a friend of mine. I did a sort of pre-edit on it, I’m good at that, and handed the timeline to our editor, who nicely put it together. It took very little effort.
In my humble opinion, I think that episode featured one of your all-time best performances.
NANCY: Thank you. There was a nice effort from everybody, from the lighting to everybody else, and all the effort Phideaux put into it. He worked so hard on that! It was fun for us. It was like the old days where you really got to work something out.

Photo: ABC
It truly harkened back to everything we knew up to that point about Alexis and her past as well, and included a montage of scenes over the years.
NANCY: I think it was M.K. who put that together, but when you’re working at the pace we’re working now, to have to sit and put together a montage of twenty-five years, that’s not an easy feat. Nobody has time for that anymore, but they did it, and like I said, it was really, really appreciated. My only thought with it is that I wanted it to be relatable to other people. I didn’t want it to just be some, you know, self-indulgent Alexis episode. I knew that by bringing in the little girl and talking about people being hurt in their childhood and how that makes somebody feel that it was probably relatable to many people, and so it became meaningful to other people and not just me.
Do you think you’ll attend the Daytime Emmys? I know the last time you won you were not present.
NANCY: Yeah, I’m planning on it. I mean, barring anything happening! (Laughs)
Does it feel nice to be recognized by your peers?
NANCY: Of course, it does. It always does, and way too often, women who are still producing well in their jobs, don’t get the respect and the acknowledgment for it. So, that’s why I’m saying, this is no small thing, and that I want other women to know that I know that, and that I wish for them the same thing.
What was the reaction of your daughter, Kate and your fiancé, Richard, when you told them you were Emmy-nominated?
NANCY: Richie goes, “What is this? Your 18th nomination?” (Laughs). You know what I mean? It was just kind of like, “Yeah, sure, why wouldn’t you be?” It wasn’t like, “Oh, my God!” It was like they kind of expected that. That was nice! I’m glad they feel that way. I’m glad they weren’t surprised. They were like, “Sure! Of course, you would be. Why wouldn’t you be?” I said, “You know, it doesn’t always work like that!”

Photo: JPI
Now comes the part of having to find a dress and all that goes with it for the red carpet. Do you enjoy that part?
NANCY: No, I hate that part. That is my… oh ‘boohoo’, you know? I mean, I have to find something to wear. Also, the older you get, that becomes so much less important, and the more makeup, and the more hair, and the more foofy, the more ridiculous I look. I start looking like Whatever Happened to Baby Jane. You’ve just got to keep it simple.
You were talking about women and ageism. Do you not feel that also exists for men?
NANCY: It exists for men, but it’s not at all on the same par as women. I mean, men still get paid more than women, and men still are valued more than women. I mean, there are exceptions, but if you look in any place of employment, even the soaps, you will typically find the men making more money than the women, and the older the women get, the less they get. Life’s not fair right now. It’s fairer than it was, but still the equality game is not won yet.

Photo: JPI
I know how much all of this means to you in terms of equality for women, and people being run out of their jobs because of their age.
NANCY: It’s just a reality. It’s not something that I’m hopeless about, but I have a story to tell. I’ll tell it when the time is right. It’s life! It happens in every field everywhere. When my mom was 70, she was still producing the exact same way she was producing when she was 30, and she got run out, and was replaced by a man who was 40 or something, and there was no particular reason for it. It was just, “You’re done. We decided you’re done,” but like I said, it happens everywhere, in every line of work, and that’s why I just wanted to give a shout-out, when you still, after 36 years, can be recognized or shown respect or acknowledgment for what your do. It’s a very big deal that I am appreciative of and grateful for.

I am beyond excited for this story. Loved PC. Calivia was a great love story and I’m sure Michael Easton and Kelly Monaco will bring it again this time. PC was very dry and witty in its writing style and I know that Ron will also do that justice with his own twist, of course.
YES YES YES YES YES !!!!!! I WANT THE RETURN OF VAMP EXTRAIDORNAIRRE CALEB PLAYED TO PERFECTION BY EASTON!!!!!
I loved Port Charles and the chemistry between ME and KM. Thus news makes sense with the news that Erin Hershey would be appearing On GH – wasn’t Allison pregnant with Caleb’s baby on the PC finale? I like the idea of ME staying on GH and as Caleb he would be able to remain without PP recalling him. Love this!
I am BEYOND thrilled of Caleb and Olivia Morley re-surfacing in the town of Port Charles. I’ve been VERY disappointed that General Hospital hasn’t given more respect to the little soap that could (Port Charles — if it had been given a chance) and to the actors that helped “Bring It To Life”. I never bought into John Mcbain on OLTL, the character bored me but I got excited again when I heard ME and KM would be together. The chemistry is incredible and should be capitalized on, I would love to see them woven into the fabric of General… Read more »
Who was Olivia Morley I don’t remember her character
It just gets better and better. I love a great stake!
PLEASE!! Bring back Caleb and Livvie! General Hospital needs some excitement. Or better yet, do an online spin off like prospect park is doing. Make it a come back of Port Charles!!! Caleb and LIvvie!!!!! YES!!
I DEFINITELY DON’T LIKE THIS STORY LINE AT ALL. IT IS STUPID AND I HAVE ALREADY VOWED NOT TO WATCH IT AGAIN IF THEY DON’T STOP. ONE LIFE TO LIVE GOT CANCELED BECAUSE PEOPLE GOT TIRED OF WATCHING MUSICALS, SO IF GENERAL HOSPITAL KEEPS THIS UP THEY WILL LOSE RATINGS AND THERE WILL BE NO SOAPS ON ABC. IF ANYONE COULD GET INTOUCH WITH THE WRITERS OF GENERAL HOSPITAL, PLEASE TELL THEM TO KILL THIS STORYLINE NOW. A FAITHFUL GH FAN.
I completely agree! This vampire story is ridiculous- I’m to the point where I just turn the channel when that storyline comes on.
My bff and I PVR GH and used to have our nightly “Can you believe….” as we excitedly discussed the latest storylines. Sadly our chats have turned into one line…”the vampire thing is stupid”
Patricia is right..I’m not watching as faithfully as I did.
I don’t think so Particia. Bringing another exciting element into General Hospital and bringing back beloved characters for those that were devoted Port Charles fans, can only increase fan base. In addition, they are bringing back some of General Hospital older fan favorites as Laura (Genie Francis), who is the Luke and Laura love duo. As well as other characters and good storylines from the past who possed an interest to fans. So I say bravo. I think that the infusion of Port Charles into General Hospital, especially at this time when Vampire movies are scoring big, is one of… Read more »
Yes, I loved the Story especially Caleb & Olivia they were great together, they to bring livvies character back 🙂 I love Port Charles 🙂
This doesn’t sound good to me at all. I think they need to leave stupid vampire stories alone and didn’t PC fail anyway? I certainly never watched that show. Hope it’s a very, very short arc.
Ces, it sounds to me like it is going to be more in the line of when John McBain was introduced to GH and Luke kept calling him “Lestat.” I think it is cute. Kind of tongue-in-cheek and a joke for those that get it. That particular arc on Port Charles was what got me to start watching. It was very sexy and campy and different from the other soaps at the moment plus you were guaranteed a resolution in six months or less unlike the slow storytelling of some shows. I just hope it is a few episodes wherein… Read more »
I did enjoy the Lestat joke. I just don’t want GH to completely lose direction (they’re doing so well!!).
If it’s a few episodes, then I’m cool with it, but I’d hate to lose John McBain’s character to a vampire story.
Christine… I was a HUGE fan of PC…so before its time! I’m loving the vampire ref and would love to see more flashbacks too!
Yes true Ces. I hope they don’t try to make a logical reason to now prove that Caleb is just Steven Clay, a rock star who went mad and thinks he’s a vampire. They cannot erase the fact that all of us Port Charles fans, know that is not true and saw them portray this year after year on ch 7 right before G.H. So don’t go back and make believe there is another reality. That would make me dump the show. Weave it into the G.H. setting or better yet, revitalize Port Charles and spin it off again as… Read more »
I agree! This storyline is stupid
I can understand why it would appear stupid if a person that thinks that never saw the Port Charles soap series in it’s entirety. Theres a lot of great story and a lot of facts that make this infusion, a lot of sense.
the last two days of Lucy Coe and her screaming has been embarrasing!! really hope they wrap this PC crap up. It’s awful. Agree Ms. B! That was a HUGE stake — that would kill a normal person. make it stop.
I just think this is too funny! Now somebody tell me wasn’t Livvie Kevins daughter? Lucy Coe is so much fun this show needs this after this over the top Conni/Kate story.
Yes, k/kay, Livvie Locke was Kevin and Grace’s daughter.
and I see that Kevin is coming back too (jon lindstrorm) so perhaps this is for the anniversary coming up or for this short? storyline. i never watched PC either. John McBain was on OLTL for quite a while, so don’t know how they could turn him into someone else on GH when he’s been John on there too… I hope Prospect Park will allow the OLTL characters’ names/personas to remain on GH. I certainly wouldn’t mind crossovers too. That would be cheap advertising for both shows…. just have to pay for airfare from CA to CT. 🙂 and how… Read more »
“and how would OLTL explain John and Nat being separated, and all the other stuff that’s happened since last Jan?”
Um ,VERY easily …Clint Buchanan. Never watched OLTL have you? or if you did you’ve forgotten just how manipulative he is when it comes to his children and messing up their lives. Per story lines he has fabricated so called “proof” against people time & time again to get them to believe as he wishes, he could do it yet again with Natalie.
So now what happens when Keven Collins sees Sam? Does he think or know it’s his daughter? Or will he say she’s a good copy?
Jumping the shark?
I agree – just a little too outlandish. Stories need to be rooted in reality, even if played in over-the-top drama as is most of the soap opera story-telling world. But vampires? What next – zombies?
This show has already featured Aliens and plots tto freeze thee world.. This show has been too serious the last decade.
totally!
TRW – I agree that GH has been too serious – aka “too much mob” for me. And I remember Casey the alien and the Cassadines with winter in summer, but that was a different time for soaps; they were extremely popular back then and there were more than 15 soaps on the air. I just think at this time, with only 4 soaps on the air and all struggling for viewers, writers might not want to go too far off reality. Of course, DOOL did survive Satan – so who knows.
That’s why I started to watch it again because it was serious over the last 2 decades. When the freeze the world plot came I left. It needs to stay based in reality. Bring Jason and Sam together or at least recast his part.
Well look at all the billions of dollars they made off of and are making on vampire series like twilight. They don’t have to be rooted in reality.
Dumb idea
STUPID! I can hardly stand to watch it now, because John McBain belongs with Natalie. I hate the vampire thing and hope they only do this one salute to the old PC show.
I loved Port Charles and especially Caleb but even then I didn’t get into Livie and Caleb I liked him with Alison and as for John YES he belongs with Natalie and Liam. It does sound like a fun arc.
John belongs with Natlie. He did too much to get back with her. Go back to One life to Live
It may make me not tune in anymore
I agree. I am a new viewer to GH, was attracted to the classic soap opera story telling I was seeing, but was never a fan of the supernatural genre. I stopped watching Days during all the demon possession stuff and if GH goes down this route, well I won’t be watching it. It is not my cup of tea- but for those it is, I’m sure they will love it. Never watch Port Charles, didn’t watch Passions either for the same reason- just not my thing- too bad because I was just starting to really like GH.
Hey guys relax a short term story at best! This is just stuff for the 50th and then you can get back to the Hobitt mobster! LOL!
Oh don’t give up yet, ladies! I feel the same way about DAYS and I never watched Passions either. I have to believe that this is just a little stint, not an arc in the sense that Robin being presumed dead is (i.e., MONTHS of story). I have a feeling this is the new springboard to launch Sam and John together, for Sam to see John in another light after Lucy stabs him or after they figure out why exactly they seem familiar to one another. Now that Steve Burton has moved on, I think it is only fair that… Read more »
As someone who still misses PC, I love it. But if I had never watched PC, I’d think it was stupid.
and having a device to freeze the world with a big ass diamond wasn’t jumping the shark!
how about bringing back people from the dead?
it’s a soap! it is not Dr. Who! LOL
I think it’s rating suicide…but that’s just me. I can understand them entertaining the idea because of Port Charles…but with the current trend of eliminating our beloved Soap Opera’s, this may need a re-think. Just look what it did to DOOL with Marlena being “possessed by the devil”! I know I stopped watching it after that. There is this typical fictional “I wish I had that life” theme that’s soaps are classic in relaying to it’s fans…and then there is this land of make believe that just doesn’t jive or you can’t even see yourself being because it doesn’t exist.… Read more »
Couldn’t agree more. We all know bringing back people from the dead is normal for soaps and I usually LIKE who they’re bringing back so.. but Vampires, possessions, aliens (GH did that too) are just too much and I won’t waste my time watching them.
I was so hoping that the 3 of them would be in a scene together. This Port Charles fan is going into giggles. Can’t wait. Thanks to Ron and Frank fun has been returned to General Hospital.
Cathi…I couldn’t agree more with you. I’ve watched GH before the PC spin off and then became a huge fan of PC too. I’m loving this storyline… After all, soap operas are all about escaping reality for a bit. Keep it coming writers!!
This is amazing CAN’T WAIT!!!
I only saw a few episodes of PC, so I’m not sure how this will work in GH’s favor. I will say that IMO Cartini does “camp” very well. Also, I saw on SOAPnet’s homepage that through my wireless service provider I can apparently access reruns of Port Charles and thought I would check it out when I have some time. Could be fun.
MBmomof3, I hope you do go back and watch some of the Port Charles episodes! I and many others loved that show, and I believe that Cartini can provide us with some fun storylines from its history.
Mbmomom! Just do it!!! If you can access the PC shows, you’ll love them!!! So good and in my opinion, way before its time!
I just can’t do it! I turned on PC once and didnt make it through the whole episode just way out there for me….I won’t watch in fact, I’m going to go back and watch the last few episodes of OLTL and remember the real John MCbain not the mess GH has make of him….if there is a soap angel Please Please make it stop and bring our OLTL characters back to PP and let them return to their former self!!!!!!!!!
I agree!! I’m not interested in the campiness of any soap writing, let alone the vampire stuff. I too tried to watch PC but couldn’t get into it, not the vampire part. Couldn’t get into it then, much less now. Not remotely interested.
Oh Lynn, I was a OLTL fan too and miss it to this day… But… I’m LOVING what GH has done with John McBain. I loved the actor on PC but never quite saw that spark in him on OLTL… Now that he’s on GH, I see his spark again…. I’m loving GH now!
This sounds like great fun! I am so onboard for the ride. GH is a guilty pleasure for me once again.
Yay Paul!!! Mine too and I love what the writers are doing!!!!
Does this mean that Sam and John were Caleb and Livvie all along? Perhaps Faison had them under mind control and made them assume new identities? Are the Port Charles vampires tied to Planet Lumina? Will Kimberlin Brown return as Livvie’s psycho mom Rachel Locke and battle with Alexis to claim back ‘Sam’ as Livvie? So many exciting possibilities!!!
Beacon…you should be a writer….lol!
YAY super excited about this SL. I loved them on PC and am very happy to hear this!! Yes Kevin was Livvies Dad. Hmmm and now with Kevin coming back to PC the possiblities of him being Sam’s dad just went up!
Hmm, maybe a Lucy fantasy and only for one episode.
hopefully just a fantasy!
You read my mind.
LOVE IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! love port charles !!!!!!!
Thanks for the spoiler alert before reading this. smh.. I like to be surprised by whats going to happen on the show and not read about it beforehand. I didnt realize this was going to have a play by play of events. =/
i love this!!! i loved pc! gh has one surprise after the other!!! can’t wait for the episodes!!
If it gets the 3 of them in scenes together again and ignites the heat from Michael & Kelly I am all for it. If you think Steve B & Kelly had chemistry, you haven’t seen anything until you’ve seen Michael & Kelly together. Crazy passion! I do think it will be a great wink to PC, and if it goes for a bit, that’s OK. Dont think I want a full blown vampire story but a little fun, light heartedness and Lucy being Lucy is ALWAYS a good thing. I agree though, I think PC was WAY ahead of… Read more »
Having never seen PC, I’m looking forward to this. There’s nothing wrong with a fun story arc, as long as it makes sense and doesn’t drag on
I saw it and I want to have some fun.
me too! this is sooooo good !!
GH is rockin with tons of variety!!
can hardly wait for all the laughs smiles and grins coming my way!!!
Agree with you all!! Kelly and Michael have mad chemistry!
Sounds like trash city for GH to me. This show may be jumping the shark as previously mentioned for some of us.
I was sick enough of the Todd and Starr overdose. OLTL was my favorite ABC soap, but a little moderation is needed in the use of these characters now. However, vampires is not what I was hoping would replace them in screen time.
I hate to hear this….. 🙁
I think it sounds like a blast and I myself can use some humor right now. There is not one thing that Ron does that I do not like. I support he and Frank 1000%.
I LOVE IT !!
finally some good ol’ camp and humor in the afternoon..
it’s so need..
I’m so tired of all the doom and gloom and a bit of way out there is badly needed..
how awesome!!
luv ya Frank and Ron !!!
this is gonna be way too cool !!!
I REALLY don’t know about this…..Back from the dead, that I can take. Evil twins? – Piece of cake. Hitherto unknown child – why not? Medical procedures that are science fiction – hell yea.
But Vampires?? All I can say is that Vampires are a step up from whiny, fake-tanned, tiny mobsters, but I’m not sure how much. And really, how much more bloodsucking monsters do we need than Carly anyway?
Ahh then you were never a fan of; Dark Shadows’ the soap opera that to this day is still being watched and considered the best soap of all time.. Port charles’; ABC from June 2, 1997 to October 3, 2003 somewhat similar to the earlier series Dark Shadows; Each 13-week arc of the story was referred to as a “book”. There were a total of thirteen books after the series switched to that format. This type of storytelling is a staple of Latin telenovelas. It also allowed the cast, crew, and writing staff to only work six months out of… Read more »
No, I was a fan of Dark Shadows, it was the first soap I really watched. And I enjoy watching it now as well. I just think that was a different animal from GH. Different, too, from AMC and OLTL. I loved DS because it was a gothic, supernatural story even before Barnabas and Co. arrived. The other soaps I mentioned, that I liked, didn’t go the supernatural route as a general rule, and for me personally, seeing it happen now would be jarring to say the least. It may end up fine, I don’t know. But it’s not my… Read more »
What a wonderful idea su0000,!!! That would be awesome if Prospect Park would pick up PC! Bose, if you watched PC, you might feel differently…it was so good and so well written…. See if you can catch some old episodes… And your “Sonny hour” comment made me giggle!
I’m so theiled about this storyline. As a Port Charles Fan I wasn’t too happy with the way it ended. With Caleb telling Olivia Alison was having his baby on after Calivias wedding. Hope this will tell us about the McBam connection.
I have complete confidence in Ron Carlavati and won’t pass judgement until I see the final product. He has an incredible respect and knowledge of PC history and has a team of very witty writers.
Not a vampire fan and didn’t see much of PC but do remember they did have great chemistry. They can easily have that great chemistry as Sam McCall/Morgan and John McBain! It’s fun to hear Lucy may get worked up about it but it is tooooooooooooo strange to have Sam be Livi and John be Caleb on GH.
agree. I want to see Sam/John McBain in a real story unrelated to Vampires… wait, wait — is this why Sam used to say “you seem so farmilar to me?” holy cow, I just woke up. lol..
LOL Ces! Yep…. That’s why she said that! 🙂
haha.. well, hope this story goes away fast, because it’s baaad.
I don’t like the sounds of it, but if Ron is writing it then maybe I won’t mind. I wonder if he will explain it all as PC being a Lucy nightmare?
We know the ”flash” of the vampire love of Livvi and Caleb will be nothing more than a dream or some sort of thing and will not even be a story, just a laugh and something different in GH for us all to get some humor relief and simply to have/enjoy a good time with it ..
It will be good, no doubt . but perhaps only for a couple of days ..
My theory exactly
I have missed feelings. I watched Port Charles off and on but how would you explain John being John in Llanview. I am okay with him going to OLTL again or them bringing Natalie to GH.
Perhaps in a dream or something similar..
It will not be an actual story, it will be an insert to give us a humor break ..
Seems to me some are actually thinking that this insert of a flash back of Port Charles will be an on going thing.. not ..
I’m torn. The PC/Calivia fan in me appreciates the fun they are trying for, but the John McBain fan side of me absolutely hates it. Maybe if he had another storyline or something, but he’s barely on and when he is it is usually in the role of Sam’s sidekick or Cop #2. Lame. I am excited to see ME/KM/LH/(and hopefully)JL in scenes, but please…this is GH, not Port Charles. I guess I’ll have to see how it plays out?
He could play Cop #2 all the time if he was partnered with Tristan Rogers. I loved when he turned up the heat in the hotel room and was tasting the fondue. He showed some real comedic chops there. 🙂
I don’t disagree, those scenes with TR were awesome! Unfortunately, they were few and far between, and also….as a John fan….not HIS story. I really want him to have his own story. Miss John McBain. 🙂
OMG…..Love it!!! Can’t wait!!!
Hoping this will prove the Vampire story was all a weird dream and Lucy, John, Sam will feel the deja Vu. Maybe Sam and John had the same dream.
The Caleb/Livvie/Lucy story really ruined PC for me.That story ruined Lucy and she and Doc was so separated from the reality of GH that Lucy and kevin disappeared for 9 yrs.
The First year of PC was the Best and had lots of GH History attached.
🙂 MK, what could they do? They were facing cancellation and they pulled a Hail Mary and hoped for the best. It didn’t work nor did the idea to turn LOVING into THE CITY, but in each case, it bought them another year and another year of stories, whether we liked them or not. I know the arcs on Port Charles were weird, but they were fun too. What I didn’t like was that it seemed like all the couples were mixed up, especially Alison and Jamal, in favor of Rafe; Livvie and Jack, in favor of Caleb. Not to… Read more »
So unnecessary. Honest to God, with all of the characters on the canvas without a storyline, this is absolutely ridiculous. Right up there with making Dorian a lesbian to win the gay vote in Llanview. Get that hack off the writing staff.
It is necessary, in way, to show us the strong chem between Sam and John (Livvie n Caleb) before they get hooked up .. It will be fun..
And anyways- it will merely be a spoof that will very short lived.
I’m looking soooo forward to it!!
I understand not liking the prospect of this storyline – I’m certainly more than leery – but one RC is NOT, is a hack. He misfires now and then, of course. But in a medium where mediocre has been the best we could hope for, for quite some time, RC has far more often than not delivered good story. He’s weak IMO in recognizing how to write sexual victimization, particularly female, and he can sometimes (think Ford brothers) introduce and focus too much on what was nothing more than (for some people, NOT me) eye candy, but his affection for… Read more »
1,000% agree w/you! No one can please all the people all the time, not even Ron, but I support whatever he and his team do. I said below that I loved Port Charles (and the Caleb/Livvie pairing) and while this wouldn’t be my choice, I say go for it GH!
holy batman, wtf, this could be very interesting, anything that keeps Lucy around is fine with me.
I so agree!
Amen Aria!
As far as I’m concerned, Michael Easton is so much more than “John McBain”. His talent as an actor has been wasted between OLTL and GH. Anyone who remembers his performance as Caleb on PC knows what I mean. He played a ficticious creature with such passion. You never got the feeling that he was playing it as “camp”. He gained quite a following. He and Kelly Monaco set the screen on fire during their love scenes. Very raw and intense, especially considering it was daytime television. Kudos to Frank Valentini and Ron Carlivati for giving a nod to PC.… Read more »
Judith, I do agree with that. I have never liked Michael Easton on OLTL. I tried to wrap my head around that character, but he was so boring. I thought Nathanial Marsten was much more entertaining than Easton on that show. Anyway, when he was on PC, you couldn’t take your eyes off the screen – he was that mesmerizing. His pairing with Kelly Monaco was insane. They had so much chemistry. But I did like John McBain paired with Tristan Rogers last month. When he messed with the thermostat and was tasting the fondue, he was funny. I would… Read more »
Well said, Christine. He was “that mesmerizing”, and yes, he did have some good scenes with Tristan Rogers. So glad someone else feels the same way. Thanks for the response 🙂
I agree with both of you…. When PC first spun off from GH, I watched off and on because I loved Lucy & Scotty… But once Michael came on screen as pastor Michael and then Celeb, I was hooked!!!! I also watched him on OLTL, but never saw the spark I saw when he was on PC…. I’m starting to see it again on GH! Loving this storyline!
I caught up with P.C. on youtube recently and discovered ME. Wonderful acting. He just crackled onscreen. And between him and KM, the chemistry was absolutely off the charts. I tried to look at a few OLTL episodes with the McBain character but it was like watching paint dry! On GH ,McBain has more life in him and I for one was excited to see Caleb for a minute on yesterday’s episode though he appeared to be in full-blown evil mode. I want to see ME stay on GH and if it’s as Caleb, hold on to your hats everyone… Read more »
One word for this story line: Ridiculous
I hope this is just a crazy rumor! This does not belong on GH
Dumb. Boring. Won’t work. Will be officially boycotting like I should have done months ago.
Ive been a loyal abc sudser fan for 40 years. I started watching PC on an off until Michael Easton came aboard and then I fell under his trance watched PC until the end. I’ve loved the tongue-in-cheek vamp comments Luke has dropped on John alluding to his past pc life, and the question of havent we been here before in a different life, between John and Sam.so I was glad to seethe metaphysical connection between John and Sam was formed as this new incarnation so to speak. (but I agree with an earlier commenter that Caleb and Allison were… Read more »
I hope Michael Easton doesn’t go back to playing Caleb….I agree if it was only done in flashbacks! I like Michael Easton as John McBain , soft spoken, caring , and a great cop,etc….. And he has a family in Llanview ! My opiinion I don’t want to see the vampire
stories w/Michael Easton. Again I prefer him as John McBain ever since he appeared on
OLTL for the first time…..
That sultry voice of John McBain!!!!!!!!!
I LOVE the idea! I fell for Michael Easton as Caleb originally, and would love to see him in that role again. Just as long as Lucy’s slayer skills aren’t completely useful… I want him around for a LONG time!
Agreed! Loved Loved having ‘Port Charles’ as my guilty pleasure!! I liked laughing at Lucy’s antics, but always rooted against her even though she was one of the ‘heroes’ – – – I wanted my supernatural Power Couple of Livvie and Caleb to be left alone!!
This is gonna be fun!!!!!!!!!
I am beyond excited for this storyline! Pays omage to GH history and is just for fun!!!! Bring on Lucy the vampire slayer and I live that Jon Lindstrum coming back. Was roflmao when Luke called John Lestat!!!!
I totally missed Luke calling Cal — I mean John — Lestat. Haha, hilarious.
Super Super excited at this development!! I want Sam/John or Caleb/Livvie back together!!!! Favorite soap couple!!! Cheers!

Gotta say that as much as I loved Port Charles (and I really, really did) I’m not sure I want that story on GH….GH is just now getting back to it’s glory days and I can’t see how that could possibly fit in. That said, no particular storyline will make me stop watching GH. I’m a fan 4ever. But if this really is going to happen, I do hope that it has a very brief run (still love ya, Ron!)
I knew the moment McBain joined GH he would become the Vampire again…I love it please make it juice…..with Lucy having supernatural powers to defeat him….
Sorry, I like him better as John McBain!!!!!!!!!
bull#H%@
Not a good idea
I am so happy that GH is throwing this nod to the PC fans….I just hope they do not turn it into a slap in our faces. I would love to have Caleb, Livvie, and the whole Port Charles crew back, however I’d rather they be on their own how like they were before.
What if the whole vampire story line never happened, and it was all a dream/fantasy/hallucination etc of Lucy’s? That would explain why no one on GH ever talked about the vampires.
Good point. I always thought the writers made a tragic mistake by not acknowledging the storyline in general Hospital.
Sa,w the episode in question and I must say I enjoyed it. I was a faithful fan of Port Charles and was angry that it was cancelled. So what if Port Charles was far fetched. all soaps stretch the imagination, that’s what makes for exciting television.I just hope this is not the first step in the downfall of general Hospital. Innovative storylines are what keep a show fresh and exciting. and if they are provocative so much the better. So bring on Caleb/Livvie and their minions and we will soon realize that the whole show has been a dream induced… Read more »
