How Great Is Kathleen Gati as General Hospital's Dr. O?

Yesterday’s episode of General Hospital was a must-see, which featured some very clever writing and performances, but the one that we were enthralled with was the performance of Kathleen Gati as evil Dr. Obrecht!

On Tuesday’s episode, Dr. O donned a blonde wig and disguised herself and attended Max and Felicia’s pre-wedding party at The Floating Rib, with the intent of doing in her enemy, Anna Devane (Finola Hughes)!

But there was nothing more delicious and fun than Gati as Dr O sitting at the bar incognito spewing some one-liners such as when the bartender asked where her accent was from and she said, “New Jersey!”  Later, when Anna was drinking the champagne in which Dr. Obrecht thought she laced with Propofol she uttered under her breath, “Drink it, you stupid cow!”

However, the topper is when Dr O took a moment to sing a little Karoke and sang Peggy Lee’s “Is That All There Is?”  Seeing Gati in the blonde wig, getting upset as she sang the lyrics and how it related to her character’s hatred for Anna (which stems from Dr. O’s hubby, Faison’s obsession with Ms. Devane) was hysterical! And, she sang it with her accent too! What made this all the more fun was that no one noticed her singing!

However, Lucy Coe (Lynn Herring) started to figure it out, only by the time she did, the evil doc slipped out of the bar.  Next, she ran into Duke (Ian Buchanan) who was the one that drank the tainted champagne and he recognized her … only he passed out and she got away!  Of note:  since he was drugged with Propofol  it is unlikely he will remember seeing her!

So, is Kathleen Gati fast becoming one of the best villains in General Hospital history? Did you get a kick out of her performance on yesterday’s episode?  What did you think of the writing of it from GH head scribe, Ron Carlivati and his team? Comment beloe!

when the show focuses on the vets/mature characters we love, its must see tv. when subjected to kiki, morgan, etc i can’t watch!

yesterday’s epi – surprised me…. welcome back GH!

it was like the 50th plus veterans combo.

#1. Patrick telling Britt. He’s falling in love with the baby… and them both watching the ultrasound…. made me cry. “it’s a boy”.

#2. watching the lovely… isn’t she beautiful…. Felicia… at her surprise wedding shower. I teared up….. all for romance and love. and it’s big Mac.

#3. Dr. O – had me laughing out loud… at her antics. she was chanteuse. Barbarella…. silent movie queen…. devilishly divine. LOL.

#4. I was scared for Anna…. and still reeling for Duke. it was a love fest to see my two couples… plus kevin and Lucy. enjoying themselves…. felicia/mac & anna/duke.

tidbits.

i was actually taken aback yesterday.. with Sabrina… it’s the prettiest i’ve seen her look…. didn’t change my opinion on said story tho.

Dante, is a hot man.

didn’t Kevin look great… like Real? LOL.

Us jersey girls are so misunderstood lol!!

patrick i totally agree with your comments. dr.o was so funny. that woman can sing a tune. lol. kevin did look sexy as a woman. mac not so much. mac looks better as a man. i hope they keep dr. o. love her she is evil but she loves to sing and dance. who knew lol.

Think I have hit upon a solution to deal with those problem children (that nobody can stand) i.e., Morgan and Sabrina….since they both appear to have obsessive disorders concerning their significant others, how about shipping them off to Ferncliff, and locking them in a room together???? The only words you will hear uttered from behind their padded door will be “Kiki/Patrick/Kiki/Patrick” and so on and so forth…situation solved!!!! Maybe Heather could even serve as a “peer counselor???” (Then again, she is presently at another facility, isn’t she? Or is she?????? Ongoing mystery…..to be continued…)

I enjoyed her singing yesterday!

I like the actress. I think she is great but I don’t like the cartoon writing by RC for her. Personally I don’t like RC writing for GH. The head writer and his staff of writers don’t know the GH characters. Why would they hire writers from so many cancelled soaps? Obviously these soaps were cancelled for writng too. it is just ridiculous.

I agree with you – like it was ridiculous watching Doc and Mac dressed up like women at the karaoke party. It was stupid! They didn’t even really perform. I like Dr. O- she is creepy but its so unrealistic that she knows Jerry Jacks, Faison and all the GH villians- she is probably the Jerome mom too (HAHA)! She is an excellent actress though!

That “men in drag” moment was totally unnecessary….those two made one of the ugliest pair of women ever!!!! Completely cringeworthy!!!! Quite frankly, other than the glittering jewel of evil that is otherwise known as “Liesel Obrecht,” that whole party scene was a flop. While I adore the notion of legacy characters, there are too many of them that just have no purpose anymore….Mac and Felicia are boring twits and she is particularly hard to look at and listen to…she’s like an overfed chipmunk who sucked on helium!! And once again, I have to say that Lucy and Kevin also need to go..Lynn Herring is beyond irritating, a hyper dried-up old prune who has to blow every situation out of proportion with her “look-at-me” attitude. Please send these two couples away, and bring back Noah and Frisco to meet their new “grandchildren”…at least they can add some excitement and advance the storylines, as opposed to simply taking up the limited space and time currently allocated to GH’s old guard.

If you have been watching GH for a long time you will remember that Doc and Mac dressed up as these ladies characters before, so that was apart of GH history. Dr O know Faison because she is married to him! As far as Jerry Jacks she had been working with him and her husband. So I am guessing you are a new viewer to the show.

.
Some people do not have a sense of humor :)….
I thank god for mine, Doc O is awesome!!
Love her zingy one-liners! And how RC gives us humor!
Would like to see Doc O in hardcore villiness mode ( turn up the bitchy geeeerrr!!

if you watched GH back in the day and for as long as some..you would have appreciated more.. Ron truly takes care of the legacy fans… sorry if you did not appreciate it

i agree with suoooo ,bonnie and ed.yesterdays show was great .doc and mac were so funny.some people have lost their sense of humor and all they want to do is bash alot of the characters with mean and nasty unnecessary comments.general hospital is getting so good. cant wait untill tomorrows show. there was a stand in robin on todays.luke and holly just might find her

Sorry, but have to disagree… OLTL’s ratings were higher than GH’s when ABC cancelled it… and why are GH’s rating up ? Because RC (from OLTL) is head writer. Ron has watched GH as long as most have, and knows the show inside out.

RC started watching GH when he was kid with his mother, and continued to watch trough his life ..
lol he became addicted GH with most us ..

@Shay…I have no idea how old you are but your comments are beyond insulting and immature. Lynn Herring/Lucy Coe a “dried up old prune?” She’s actually a beautiful woman with a fit, toned body. As an actress she brings fun, joy, quirkiness, familiarity, loyalty…she’s just a great character and I for one am very glad she gets screen time. And I love Doc too. They’re both a great part of GH history and I like having them back. Love having Anna/Duke, Felicia/Mac…but none of them are at this point given center stage storyline. Would love to see that happen.

And as someone else pointed out, OLTL did not fail in the ratings, and was actually higher than GH when it was canceled. GH was going down with the ship…and RC brought it back up.

Just wishing RC would give MORE time to these vets. at this point they’re just filler.

Brian….the only thing that made me laugh more (this week) than your response to Rebecca was “The Dr. O Variety Show,” but I think you’ll have to admit that placing second best under such circumstances is still a pretty high compliment!!!! Thank you…..

@rebecca1…..My comments were not based upon ageism, but simple observation. As an avid GH viewer, I keenly watch the physical aspects of all the characters/actors each and every day, and there are certain things that just “pop” out at me, and when they appear so on a continuing basis, then they become annoying. Herring has very dehydrated/weathered looking skin, and it is especially apparent in HD. (By the way, I have also noticed her “man hands,” just another thing about her that is quite unattractive.) That, in addition to what I consider to be her most grating personality, really bothers me to no end! Just my opinion…same goes for my comments on Felicia. That being said, Anna looks totally fabulous…she puts all the ladies to shame, regardless of their respective ages. Dr. O is another fierce and fashionable fraulein that steals the scene whenever she is around! And even though Ava is not my cup of tea, she definitely makes a style statement. GH has no shortage of attractive, vibrant women, but not all of them are equally pleasing to the naked eye. Excuse me for noticing this fact…..

Rebecca…. what is even more insulting is that your remarks to “shay” ended up going to everyone who has commented here….

@Shay: I appreciate Your “play” on words.

I totally agree with you on Dr. O., and the oh so lovely Anna Devane.

so many comment that they FF through shows…. I like you… do the same…

watch the physical aspects
watch the actor’ nuanced delivery
watch their acting style between the actors…..

etc… it fills up the hour… and then it’s over… and i’ve feasted … celebrated…
and beloved our Serial.

Shay just so you will know Lucy Co/Lynn Herring lives on a ranch with her husband Wayne Northup. Therefore I do think she spends a lot of time in the sun etc and lifting hay bales at least that is what she has said in interviews. I have nothing against LH but never been overly wowed by the character of Lucy Coe just a little over the top for my tastes and when Kristinia Wagner/Felicia was on the show years ago Lynda Hirsch a old soap columnist from Cleveland Ohio said she should go to a voice coach and I agree.

@k/kay (Cute ID!)….Oh yes, I just read about LH’s outdoorsy life with “RealRoman,” and that undoubtedly does contribute to her leathery/sinewy appearance, which was on full display again this afternoon….LOL! (I know, I know….I’m treading on sacred territory here….) But I am totally with you about not being “overly wowed” by her portrayal, and that goes way back to the day when Lucy was the meek/slutty librarian secretly romancing Kevin O’Connor (aka “Fake Frisco”….) I guess I just could never buy into her subsequent reinvention as this super style maven…that soap territory was already more than amply occupied by the fabu likes of Erica Kane and Felicia Gallant, so it kind of beggared belief to me, even then. And now it seems even less so…just doesn’t work for me!!!! (And as Tim Gunn says: “Make it work!”) ; ) P.S. I remember Lynda Hirsch…she was right about KW needing a voice coach. She really has not seemed to professionally progress past her early days on GH. I adored “Frisco,” but never bought into the whole ” Felisco/Frilicia”(?) notion…just tolerated her because of him!!!!! Still want HIM back…..

She was fantastic…hope they find a way to keep her!!!

LOVE Dr. O. I only wish Helena was not “dead” so she and Dr. O could get together for tea.

Absolutely, now that would be some fun, a meeting of the twisted minds!

Something tells me they have a previous history….Stavros was at her clinic, and who knows who else from that demented clan. Perhaps we shall be treated to a flashback episode someday. As long as they keep “Dr. O.” on the show, I don’t care how inventive they have to be to justify her ongoing presence.

On today’s episode, “Dr O” acknowledged Helena as an acquaintance and “great lady.” (I paraphrase….) Perhaps they bonded at a “Successful Mothering” Symposium?????

fd- that is one on the dumbest, most uninformed comments that I have ever heard- RC knows these characters better than Guza ever could. He honors the history of GH and if they would just slim down the cast and streamline the stories, it would be the best era of GH ever.

Some people will complain no matter who writes for the show.

seeing as thou she makes me hate the character she is doing an awesome job…………

I have to disagree with the writing. To me it has gotten so much better but then again I am a OLTL fan. They weren’t cancelled for bad writing in fact there were many years where they were nominated only for that. That’s why GH hired them. I do think her performance made the show yesterday. God I love the bad guys…It makes me kind of feel for Britt.

She is great in the role. She was fantastic yesterday. RV/RC are using all of the characters old and new. We are now seeing characters we haven’t seen in decades. The show is great.

yes! so many vets are used, and often..

–love seeing decades old back history stories come to life once again!—

I also like the mixture of genders/characters in all the stories.

((actually, there are no new characters,
all have now been with GH a long time..

im loving every aspect of this show,,just a lil more genie francis would be nice

i agree, i heard she’s no longer on contract, i hope this is not true and if it is, then i’m disappointed in the current regime for basically following in the previous regime footstep and treating Genie like crap.

oh…. she was barely on….

it’s sad… to under utilize pure raw emotion…. like Genie Francis.

for those who watched her on Y&R… and i’ll say it again…. and again…

she amazed me…. !

she’s off traipsing for Luke… finding him…. and he’s been on with Emma sams… and no screen time yet for Laura.

where’s she looking…. FernCliff…. for the writers?

LOL

And she’s baaaaack!!!! It took a round trip to/from Australia to locate a decent storyline, but she made it. Loved her reunion “moment” with Luke….just served to illustrate what a disaster her recoupling with Scotty was. Kind of disconcerting though to realize that Laura and her ex are about to become grandparents!!!! Hope they return to the action and adventure (and Dr. O.!!!!) very soon.. Was such a shame to have to say auf wiedersehen to our favorite fugitive fraulein, if for only a brief time….fingers crossed!!! Loved her little back and forth in German with Holly….even if I saw it coming a mile away!!!!

Might I point out that just because a soap was cancelled, doesn’t mean the writing is bad. OLTL was on its game when it was axed by ABC!! Televison executives are not always right and do make stupid decisions!! I enjoy GH very much and I thought the singing was funny!!

Is her accent real?

No her accent is not real, but she was raised in Hungry and her parents are Hungarian, so that helps. Although she see is doing a swiss accent which is close to Gernan

Dr. O is one of the best villains they have had & the songs (all of them) were great..but hers was really good because she is singing & noone is paying attention like she is supposed to be there..til it’s too late of course for poor Duke..she looked pretty good with that blond wig..for a woman of a certain age shall we say..you know GH is really getting good again..the only newcomer I don’t really like that much is Morgan…they did a 180 with his character..

I found it intriguing — there is obviously a back story there on how this brilliant doctor went down this path of evil. I am new to GH– did her affair with Faison ever play out on screen? If not, I would love a flashback story line– for this character, perhaps the actress playing Britt could play a younger version of her mother, with one of the GH leading men playing a young Faison– I think that could be interesting.

I like that idea of a flashback…Britt as her mother and maybe M.E.(Silas) as Faison. Also, i would love a shocking twist: Britts not her daughter…its Anna Devane, making Robin her half sister!!!

I like your thinking about how Anna Devane could be Britt’s mother and Robin her half sister! Wouldn’t that make things interesting! 😉

someone?

was the picture they were looking at, on the computer…

a picture of Britt or her mother?

i hope it was her mother…. as Britt… will only become more “evil”.

in the eyes of port charles and viewers.

It was a photo of KG the lady playing Britt’s mom, representing an early picture of Dr. O before she went all Darth Vadar. Not certain if was a picture of what she really looks like without all Dr. O make up– or they used a early head shot of her for the article, but she does kinda look like Britt— the casting department did a good job- very believable as mother and daughter duo. As for Britt I think she being somewhat redeemed— considering who her parents are I think she has turned out relatively sane.

It was an actual early head shot of the actress…..she told about it on her twitter page, which is a lot of fun. KG has really embraced the whole “Dr. O” character and the dialogue between the fans and her is quite amusing. She sounds to be a charming and interesting lady…

Patrick….Thank you for your kind words….I enjoy your original observations and verbal descriptions on the intricacies of GH, as well. This is a wonderful place to share ideas and opinions with fellow friends of Port Charles and you are definitely one of its “shining stars!!!” As far as “Brad” goes, he does seem to be collecting more than his share of the “fanboys” these days, but poor Richard is now apparently searching for his missing tiara in full pirate mode, blond wig and lipstick…he was spotted prancing about earlier today by TMZ…no details on his destination….(I’m hoping he didn’t appropriate his fair faux hair from Dr. O!!!! There will be h#!! to pay if she discovers it missing….)

Dr. O is becoming quite an entertaining character! She’s evil, but hilarious at the same time. Kathleen Gati is playing the heck out of this role!

I completely disagree with the above comment about RC and the writing. Those shows weren’t cancelled because of bad writing. They were cancelled because of money – period. Greedy network execs at ABC (some of whom are no longer there) cancelled those shows, and we’re all lucky they didn’t ax General Hospital along with them. The ratings for OLTL were going through the roof when it was cancelled. Now, more to the point. Dr. O is awesome!!! It does seem a little weird that sometimes she comes off as a super evil badass, and sometimes they like to inject a little humor into her, as they did when she was dancing to Rick Springfield during the Nurses Ball. But I’ll take it! I like the injection of humor into storylines sometimes. Who wants to watch a show that’s always SO dark? And Kathleen Gati can pull it all off! I mean, imagine six months ago feeling any sympathy for Britt? Her evil mother makes her SOMEWHAT sympathetic. I am loving this show, and I hate to miss even one day of it!

OMG! Dr. O rocks!!!!! She is absolutely fabulous…and must NEVER go away for good, let her be the new Helena C…..popping up whenever least expected to wreak her mirth and mayhem!!!! “Strangebourne’s” bizarre karaoke performance was just so over-the-top weird that it was wading into David Lynch territory, but it made the whole show….and turned what was a totally pathetic party into a real freakfest of fun!!!! Couldn’t stop laughing at the absurdity of it all….like NOBODY (but the barkeep) questioned what this heavily-accented woman that no one knew was doing stealing the limelight at this private soiree???? Hello??? It wasn’t exactly open-mike night at the Rib!!!! Just how did that happen with a roomful of cops present???? Still, it was a real shame that Britta wasn’t there to witness her dear uber-talented “Mutta’s” star turn!!!!! Her reaction would have been priceless!!!!!!

agree..
Both, AMC and OLTL were canceled to bring in cheap talk and cooking shows, neither being canceled had anything to with writing..
2 soaps were canceled for the same reason; to bring in cheap programming..

Then boy, did they succeed in their mission…..that programming is totally cheap and it really shows. I often get a quick peek at “The Chew” as it segs into our beloved soap, and it is soooo baaaad. The cast is truly insufferable and overbearing…but I don’t need to tell any loyal GH fan that since they saw that God-forsaken mess in all its horrible glory during the great relish spew storyline!

the chew is a very good show shay. it got renewed. maybe you need to go away. please shut up.

@Helen…So I’ve been “spanked” once again, by yet another female poster, no less…..what is it with the women on this site???? They are ALWAYS the ones sending the crabby replies to me….no humor whatsoever. But the men have been most charming and welcoming….thanks guys!!!!! P.S. As someone who loves foodie shows, I can honestly state that “The Chew” is second rate (A LOT of people have said so, not just me! Especially during the crossover promo…) there truly are many better ones out there, both on cable and even PBS! Maybe I just am not attuned to “daytime tastes,” since the only program I make time to view is “GH.”

When we’re not subjected to Morgan, Michael and Kiki this show is good. In fact I like Michael when he’s with anyone but Kiki.

I love the actress who plays Dr. O. She’s great. And she’s doing a super job with this role.

I love the storylines with the vets and the fact that we haven’t been subjected to Franco and his clown head for weeks now. I just hope he doesn’t start taking up a disproportionate amount of screen time when he gets back because they have to re-invent him yet again!

I don’t mind the storyline with the Jeromes either. I just wish they’d get out of Monica’s house! Does she still live there? Or have the Jeromes taken over.

The one thing I haven’t liked is the way they’re vilifying AJ again. I loved the resurrected character and his role of misunderstood scapegoat. They shouldn’t have had him choking Connie. I think he has the potential to be a great character on the show and help build up the Quartermaine’s place in PC again. Maybe he and Tracy will unite against the Jeromes. That would make an awesome scenario.

I like watching the chem between Kiki and Michael..
Being they are a real couple in real life, I like watching them..
Both are very good actors and are doing a great job..
Their story is just beginning, and I’m in!!!

I also like how they are bringing the ass-h AJ back..
I love seeing him revert to his true character!! the dark mean conniving ass-h !!

The ”Jeromes” are being developed, love it!
Ava and Julian are both long term contracted , so the Jeromes will be entwined in Port Charles for a long time! I see some awesome adventures on the way!

GH is very good these days I cant wait for the next episode..
I’m soooooo waiting for the sane new and improved Franco, a Q, to come back a power figure in Port Charles / take his place as a Q ..

i love doctor o. she is a wonderful actress. brittas mother needs to stay full time on general hospital. dr. o is funny crazy and she loves to sing. lol.

1. Shes campy BLAZING SADDLES OR SOMEBODY IN CABARET

2. I don’t hate her or love her

3.RC please move the stories along

4.I want Sam to meet Derek Wells and introduce Him Silas Clay

5. She is campy. ….little bit of Hogan Hereos

LOL….the Hogan Hereos comment. That’s true though! That’s what I thought too!

I myself once said i thought, as a joke, that Dr. Os husband was Colonel Klink…lol

Dr. O is played by an amazing actress. More, please!!!

Just finished yesterday’s episode and loved it!!! Kathleen Gati is doing a fabulous job with Dr.O!!!

I think Helena and Faison are better… but she shows real talent in the Faison school of crazy villian. I like the mix of humor crazy and villianous behavior and with her look and her accent… it is wonderful!!! It’s great when a villian is not too evil and that you are intrigued and interested in. She’s doing great and the writing of her is well done. I don’t like her and I really don’t like Britch… but that is they way it’s supposed to be.

Faison and Helena for me are slightly better because I like aspects of them and they have a humanity that comes through that works with the crazy and the villianous behavior. The other thing that makes Faison and Helena work so well are their look, there costumes and most of all their dialogue and delivery of the dialogue. They are both written very intelligently and classy and I am mesmorized by them. Dr. O is getting close to that… very close!

I always love the karaoke episodes and have been wanting more! The cast is so talented and it’s fun to watch them having fun with it!!! I am loving GH and it is fabulous to get the air time for the vets and their stories. Even if these stories are somewhat small it’s ust great to have them on our screens!!! Loved the episode!!! GH is must see again and can’t wait to see the next episode!!!

That was one of my favorite episodes…hope they keep Dr. O…would love to hear her perform Marlene Dietrich’s ‘Falling In Love Again.’ Maybe if there is another Nurses Ball next year!

Great idea…..although I was thinking “Edelweiss” would make an endearing encore performance….complete with “Granny O” cradling the beloved little baby “Cesar” in her possessive arms! It would showcase her “softer side….”

I could definitely see Dr. O. kidnapping her so-called “progeny,” but the ptb’s probably will put the kibosh on any more baby thefts for awhile…especially since that seems to be Heather’s métier. I was visualizing that maybe the deliciously diabolical diva would just take the opportunity to slip into the nursery for a private moment with her “Schatzi Jr.” and lullaby him to sleep. Creepy, but still very touching…by the way, I’m sorry if I traumatized you with mention of the “Sound of Music” tunes…quite a memory to have to live with there (obviously, not one of your “Favorite Things!”) but at least I hope you were not forced to wear “chintz drapery” garb while singing “doe, a deer, a female deer….” ; )

Hahaha…I ‘m sure you looked just fine, jimh! The only reason I mentioned the movie outfits was because they just put them up for auction in the past month, and I saw the photos of those famous drapery fashions…they looked mighty uncomfortable, and none too attractive, but they definitely were durable….appeared like new!!!! Maybe that’s why I thought of “Edelweiss”…that news article spurred my musical memory palace!!!!!

That was so fun! I admit I am usually doing something else while I have my stories on, but that Peggy Lee performance turned my head toward the screen, and I was howling (inside)! Dr. O and the “Britch” are quickly becoming my favorites because they’re so interesting and fun to watch. More stuff like this and less Sonny please and thank you!

It was so funny her singing that song for karaokee…lol

DR. O is hilarious, she’s a campy villain that can easily turn deadly, but what i’m loving the most is that finally i’m seeing Finola Hughes on my screen and that makes me soooo happy. saw a preview for tomorrow and she’s also going to be on, hope she”s on for this whole week and more.

Loving GH. Dr O is playing the villainess part very well. Now this is the GH we know and love.

Personally, I’m not into cartoon villains. Increasingly, I’m watching the British soaps — every character is multilayered and gray (even the “good” characters are capable of dark acts); the drama is domestic (based on plausible, real situations); and everyone is mostly working class (no ISA agents, idle rich, or people running conglomerates nary a college education).

sounds boring!

Used to love “Eastenders” until our local PBS station discontinued it. Still keep up with its developments through the Brit press, although I don’t think it sounds nearly as good as when I watched it…they have lost all their grand dames and most of their legacy characters. The new cast additions don’t seem as interesting…what are they down to now, the original Phil Mitchell, Bianca, Carol??? Just read Peggy is due back for a visit….

Please, please, please, PLEASE! No more karaoke episodes! “Chapel of Love” made my cat hide under the bed!

As to Dr. O., I agree that her performances (including the karaoke) are superb, but that she’s written too over the top. There’s been subtlety in the great GH villains of the past … Frank Smith, Leopold Taub, Domino, etc.

But, seeing as they’re bringing Richard Simmons back, it doesn’t seem that subtlety is a top priority in PC at the present time.

LMAO, Bill!!! You are so right about that karaoke krap…it was cringe-inducing hokum, especially Dante and Lulu’s act, but the “Twisted Teutonic Treasure” (aka Dr. O!) made it all worthwhile…are there no limits to the surprises this crazy lady has up her fashionable European sleeve???? Simply cannot wait to see what other unknown talents of “Mutta’s” we will be treated to next… hope she’s around for a long, long time!!!!! P.S. Pleeeze no more drag scenes, particularly if they involve Felix, Brad …..or Richard Simmons!!!!! You especially never know with that last one……

Brad is a cutie petutie.

he boldly proclaims….. “what a prick”

Richard Simmons merely dropped his tiara… let him wander

Thanks shay…liked your idea of Dr. O singing Edelweiss while holding baby Ceaser…however, when i was a kid in school we had to sing that song 4ever in music class along with some other Sound of Music songs( i couldnt sing as it is) it might give me nightmares…lol…but id still love to hear Dr.O perform it in a scene with the baby like u mentioned(maybe she’ll kidnap the baby?)…she’s now one of my favorite daytime actors!!!

Thanks 4 reply Shay…lol…we sang those Sound Of Music songs during every music class from 4th to 6th grade…was our music teachers favorite movie but thank God we didnt have to wear any ‘chintz drapery’ garb like you mentioned…however, the clothes i wore back then were only slightly better…lol

You know…! …it’s right, …what “Dante” (actor) said on twitter, about some of the GH fans.

“…The hateful ones are deranged! …”

Some of the comments here regarding a few of the actors are VERY distasteful.

No wonder many of you are already BLOCKED by many of them.
Rightfully so too..!

Well if you are looking for a kinder, gentler forum regarding GH, mosey over to the official ABC website…it is heavily censored and so devoid of any real opinions that all it really has become is a chatroom for bored housewives….they discuss their dinner menus, husbands, ex-husbands and medical conditions, among other more forgettable subjects. I am NOT kidding..I.went there once to see their 50th Anniversary Tribute section and could not fathom the postings!!!! Really goes down a treat, let me tell you……would you believe they wouldn’t even allow a person to list the name of John Stamos’ GH character or his band lest someone be offended. They definitely put the PC in Port Charles over there….

@JustinLove…Just for the record,….I don’t tweet. I read a number of twitter pages, many by and about GH people, but NO, I have never been blocked by anyone for anything. I think sharing (sometimes unpopular) opinions/observations with fellow fans and armchair critics is a far different thing than sending someone personal abuse. Part of the purpose of a page like this is to offer differing ideas on many aspects of our viewing experiences. Naturally, they will be diverse, but that doesn’t mean that they should be considered anything more/less than just a sampling of what many people are already thinking, particularly amongst the more highly passionate, enthusiastic and detail-oriented audience segment. None of this is meant to offend, much of it is just a bit of fun…but I suppose sometimes sardonic humor and sarcastic wit is a tad misunderstood by certain individuals. At any rate, I do visit other GH sites to see what is the prevailing thought, and believe me, what you read here is really quite mild and polite in comparison. All I am saying is that respectful disagreement is one thing, but making assumptions about and attacking others is not. I have quietly sat by and read many angry, nasty comments, especially pertaining to the Landview Three, for months on end, and never felt compelled to respond to anyone that they had no right to say what was on their mind, that they were wrong for stating their opinions, or tell them what to do or where to go….it was not my place. As a relatively new poster here, I just wanted to explain my position, since I really enjoy the general ambience, encyclopedic historical soap knowledge and mostly very nice and welcoming contributors/replies that seem to be the touchstones of this particular site. It’s one of the best around, not just for the great info provided by Mr. Fairman, but for its own “cast of characters.” Thank you for permitting me the chance to clarify….

she is fun and evil, to watch! I keep wondering if we and Britt will find out that she is also not the actual child of Dr. O and Faison, that she is also another failed attempt of Dr. O to win over Faison’s love and attention.

so glad that Duke actually did remember seeing her and was able to tell Anna right away…. and why didn’t Anna remember that prophoful? being the same drug that put Robert into a coma?

couldn’t help but giggle when Duke woke up and uttered “anna” and it clearly showed that the breathing “tube” was loosely taped to his mouth, not a tube in his mouth – yeah, of course I know it’s not real, but on medical dramas you always see the patient wake up and struggle with realizing they have a tube shoved down their throat and then the nurses all rush in to remove the tube, and THEN the patient can talk.

be fun if Dr. O made an attempt on Ava!

also – Spinelli finds out that dr. O and her original name are linked so quick… and Anna and WSB didn’t find this out way back when? and why didn’t Spinelli get the “wanted for attempted murder of Robert” right along for all the other things Dr. O is wanted for (keeping Duke hostage).

and when will Anna find out that Dr. O is evil Britt’s mom and start putting the puzzles together. think the “s” will hit the fan when she finds out they’re related.

she found out today about them being mother and daughter from felix and spinelli

She reminds me of Frau Farbissina from the Austin Powers movies. (BTW, “farbissina” is a Yiddish word that translates to “sourpuss.”)

yah! bwahahahahaha

I love having old timers back. Love seeing Luke and English today and the cute reference of Loving and the Alden family.Lucy has terrific comedy chops.Love Kiiki but hate her with Morgan. Wish they think of a way to keep magnificent Dr Evil around…she is scary and funny at same time . Sonny is getting so boring .he just screams all the time.

I enjoy Dr. O (even tho she reminds me of Natasha from Rocky and Bullwinkle), she’s funny but at the same time gives off a decided evil vibe. I LOVE seeing the old GH characters, Lucy, Kevin, Scotty (more please on those last two!), and I absolutely loved the references to Loving: the pictures of Gwyneth, Cabot and Tricia, the recreation of the Alden’s mansion and the references to that over the top storyline that ended the show (I hated them killing off all my beloved characters, but since the show had been axed I thought it was a pretty gutsy way to go out) including the statement that most residents and abandoned Corinth for ‘the city”, a sly reference to the soap The City where the surviving castmembers relocated. I miss Loving. My only gripe with yesterday was that I thought originally Corinth was supposed to be in upstate NY?

I love Kathleen Gati as Dr. O – she is soooo good in her role and yeah, just amazing to watch. I enjoy every minute that she’s on the show!!! Hope to get to see a lot more of the evil doctor!

So glad this talented actress is getting good buzz. Not easy to hold our own against mr. Geary and ms. Hughes! Sign her Lon term and don’t paint her into an impossible corner!

I would love to see Gwyneth Alden, Christine L. Tudor square off with Dr. O. Let’s bring back Gwyneth Alden. Please sign the petition posted on FB Soap opera Groups, like Too Much Drama, GH group pages. Please write me if u cannot find the petition link. Thanks a lot!.

‘General Hospital’s’ Josh Swickard Recalls Emotional Moment After His Final Scenes with Michael Easton, and Favorite ‘Chase’ Storyline

Published

Josh Swickard

Josh Swickard (Harrison Chase, General Hospital) is the special guest on this week’s all-new episode of Soapy Hosted by Rebecca Budig and Greg Rikaart. The GH fan favorite and leading men opened up about his life pre and post GH, his marriage to actress and producer, Lauren Swickard, and some of his toughest and most memorable moments during his eight-plus years as officer Chase of the PCPD.

One of the most heartbreaking moments came when Josh had to say farewell to his on-screen brother Finn played by soap veteran, Michael Easton. It was back on the Thursday, June 27, 2024 episode of General Hospital.

In it, Chase drives Finn to a rehab facility and the two brothers share a heartfelt talk in the car. Finn thanks Chase for allowing him to say goodbye to his daughter, Violet (Jophielle Love). Chase promises to take good care of her. However, Chase warns Finn to not to take any shortcuts on his way to sobriety and to always think of Violet’s wellbeing. It is apparent, the brothers don’t want to say goodbye, but on the count of three, Finn leaves Chase’s car and walks through the door of the rehab facility, while Chase in tears beats the steering wheel before drives away.

MISSING HIS TV BROTHER

Josh spoke to the “Soapy” podcast hosts about it and recalled, “In our last scenes together, and it was like his last day. Michael was like, ‘It’s okay.’ And I was like, ‘No, it’s not.’ I was supposed to be crying in the scene, I think. I was like a little glassy-eyed, a little glazed over. And then they were like, “And cut.”  I was like, “Great.” I just like went behind the car and wept.”

Speaking of his professional and personal relationship with Easton, Josh expressed, “Michael is an awesome guy. He’s such a sweetheart. We’ve done fan events together in New York and he would show me things, like, ‘This where I used to live  …’ He’s like an older brother to me.”

Not only did Josh lose his on-screen brother, but he also lost his on-screen father, Gregory, played by Gregory Harrison, when he was killed-off the show after the character battled ALS. “I think I was more just mourning friends that play family on a show, but a show that goes year after year, year round, and so they become family,” explained Swickard. “So, that part’s been hard for me of just losing friends that while, yes, you get to see each other, you get to call each other, it’s different (when they leave).”

CHASE IN A COMA IS FAVORITE OF JOSH’S

When asked, what has been his favorite storyline during his run on GH thus far, Josh took it back to when Chase became became critically ill after being poisoned by a toxic from Peter August (Wes Ramsey) meant for Finn. Eventually, Finn had to rescue his brother with the antidote for the toxin. That story played out from April to June 2021.

Josh explained, “Where I was in a coma and I was seizing and coughing and I had no blocking for like four months! It was great! It was a storyline where I was about to die and I had to say goodbye to a lot of lovely people and it was so exhausting. You get in the car and you feel like you got hit by a train every day because your body doesn’t fully know what acting is, apparently. I remember multiple days being like, ‘Oh, this is why I signed up for this.'”

Swickard also answered if there were moments in the storyline if he felt Chase was not going to survive. The GH star answered, “There were moments that I wondered.  However, I think they were pretty upfront with me. They were like, ‘This isn’t what’s going to happen.'”

‘General Hospital’s’ Dominic Zamprogna Shares He Was ‘Happy to Hear’ of The Triangle Storyline Developing Between Dante/Elizabeth/Ric

Published

Dominic Zamprogna

General Hospital’s Dominic Zamprogna (Dante Falconeri) opened up about the burgeoning love triangle forming between his Port Charles alter-go, Elizabeth Webber (Rebecca Herbst) and Ric Lansing (Rick Hearst) after recently aired scenes, plus his hopes for the future of a Dante and Liz pairing, during his appearance on the Sunday, April 23 edition of the That’s Awesome podcast with Steve Burton (Jason Morgan) and Bradford Anderson (Spinelli).

On last week’s episodes of GH, Ric has made the decision that he wanted to propose to his ex-wife, only when he showed up at Elizabeth’s front door, he misread the scenario he walked in with Liz tending to Dante’s injured leg from the softball game. From there, the legal eagle’s jealous streak is reemerging which may cause him to act out and do something unforgivable, or will he take the high road? Stay tuned.

Speaking with Steve Burton and Bradford Anderson about where Elizabeth stands in the annals of the long-running soap, Zamprogna said, “She’s up there with Steve and Maurice (Maurice Benard) as one of the most legacy-filled people on the show.”

HOW DANTE AND ELIZABETH CAME ABOUT

Dominic jokes it’s a far cry for where Dante and Elizabeth previously, recalling, “We had some scenes together years ago and we were both laughing. Becky’s like, ‘Well, I guess we’re not going be paired up anytime soon.’ I remember we laughed immediately after they yelled ‘cut,”‘and said to each other, ‘Well, so much for that!'”

Fast-forward to early 2025 and as Zamprogna remembered it, “Elizabeth Korte (co-head writer, GH) came up to me at the General Hospital Christmas party, and I think it was a year and a half ago and she said, ‘We’re going to have you in scenes with Elizabeth,’ My internal monologue is going, ‘I’m not with Lulu (Alexa Havins) anymore and Sam’s (Kelly Monaco) gone, so maybe they want to see if this works.’ I didn’t want to get scenes with Becky and try to find the chemistry. I just wanted to play whatever honestly was written and came across for both of us and hope it was what people liked, and I don’t know if it is … or not.”

Knowing how beloved Elizabeth is to the GH faithfuls, Zamprogna added, “She got a big fan base with Ric … and a big fan base with with Jason … and you know, you’re going to piss somebody off. But, didn’t Ric drug Elizabeth and put Carly in a panic room?”

DANTE AND ELIZABETH PAIRING COULD STIR UP STORY FOR OTHERS IN PORT CHARLES

In closing, Dominic felt that the wide-reaching tentacles of a Dante and Elizabeth relationship is something he is 100% down for. “The triangle thing; I was happy to hear it was with Ric and her, because I felt it’s important to have her the top of it as opposed to Dante, Lulu and Elizabeth.”

Zamprogna added, “When you get into relationships on a soap, things seem to fizzle out a little bit, The buildup is what’s the fun part, and the getting to know each other, and the people who are affected by this coming together. When with this case it’s going to affect: Ric, Sonny, Lulu. There’s so much more story here. To me, it’s going to be a fun story to play.”

You can check out Dominic’s visit to That’s Awesome with Steve and Bradford below.
